Boo! :fr: The Good Witch Amarantha is gearing up for the Halloween season! In her culture, that date is the 31st of October and the first day of autumn is tomorrow! Autumn is the time for change, for new thoughts, feelings and results.

Tired of being stuck on this endless summer plateau, Amarantha inviteth all good little witches, hobgoblins and other scary folk to join in a very focused weight loss/maintenance challenge. Brew up a personal magic potion for your Halloween treat! Post a magic NUMBER to represent where YOU want to be weight-wise on Halloween or on your regular weigh-in that week! It could represent a loss or just maintenance. Then, check in OFTEN and REPORT what you are doing to achieve that Halloween goal!!!

The Good Witch Amarantha promiseth to maintain a list of all challengers! If no little trick-or-treaters happen to BITE on this thread, GW A. pledges to continue it anyway. She also pledgeth to be brief and focused in her posts and remindeth all that she is NOT trying to usurp any other challenge threads or lure anyone from their affiliation into the murky undergrowth of yet another challenge. This is just extra. She just wants to LOSE the weight by Halloween, so she can eat some little chocolates from a plastic pumpkin head.

List followeth!!! :fr:

Ok, good witch Amarantha. Anagram wishes to achieve the magic number of 225 by Halloween. Right now that seems impossible due to my late summer plateau. However, I love fall to bits, it's my favorite season, it inspires me to all sorts of good feelings. So it seems a good time to try to lose some of my pumpkin shape. After I weigh in Wednesday, I'll have a better idea of how much that involves and may need to tweak that number a bit.

I will foreswear pumpkin pie until I reach that number.

Oh if only my magical number were so that it would whisk me there with the wave of my non-existant magical wand. But alas, I feel as though I will have to weather this dangerous battle on my own for now. I guess my victory celebration can take place on Halloween then, how fitting :) My magical goal will be to get from 164 (now) to the 150's by Halloween, anywhere in the 150's - get to break through the cusp.

I accept the challenge! I was going to challenge myself to stay focused from the Equinox to Halloween so this fits my plan perfectly.

I gathered up all my courage and approached that fearsome beast aka the scale! I weigh 157 and my goal for this Samhain is to weigh 148. It's a bit ambitious but that's the plan!

Thanks for setting this up, Amarantha, you witchy woman!

Focused daily report #1: Having reinvented herself in preparation for her favorite holiday, the Good Witch (aka GW) Amarantha hath ended her eating day at 1870 calories and thanks be to advice from Dollar on the 5-pound thread, she is resting from exercise today. Her challenge for tonight is taking a walk later across the Desert o' No-Food From 9 p.m. to Midnight, but mayhap will have a bite or two before that! She pledgeth this to be her Legal Splurge Day for this week and pledgeth that she will NOT eat in the 2000 calorie range during this holiday challenge!!!

Anagram: Thanks for joining in!!! The season o' fall is just the best, though where I live the crunch, crunch, crunch o' autumn leaves and the crisp air is just a dim fantasy (unless you live high in the mountains). But fall is still so wonderful here with strings of chili peppers for sale and the early darkness and MAYBE some cool rain!!!

Guinever: GW hath a magic wand and magic sword both at her desk (really) and she will wave them in your direction once in awhile!! :wizard: Some on this board may remember Crone's "Power Charge" sword and it is still with us!

Eydie: Honored to have a Goddess-In-Training at the Halloween gathering! Congratulations on your fearless approachment of the Demon Scale!

Pretty focused post if GW saith so herself!!! Onward and downward to ALL HALLOW'S EVE!!! Woooo ... those  are putting on a disguise to get outta town!!! :fr:

Hello everyone!
I finally got my user id fixed..I couldn't post replys for a little bit there, and then y'all moved threads!

Ok I am in for 7 lbs by Halloween...I want to say 20 lbs :dizzy: but that is totally unrealistic...and I really am trying to keep the weight off this time, so I know that I need to do this slowly but steadily...

I am at 237 right now (I cannot believe I weigh that much!:o ) , but not for long....I am really gonna do this ....GW Amarantha if you could please use your wand to find me some courage and strenth to keep me focused on my eating (that it only be healthy) and for me to continue the motivation to excericise at least 4 times a week I would really appreciate it....or maybe that was the wizard of oz handing out courage...I don;'t know sleep deprivation and lots and lots of studying have completely fried my mind this weekend.
ok ladies..this time I am truly going to make my goal of 130 by the middle of next year !

"Bubble, bubble toil and trouble, come Halloween we'll be rid o' blubber!" ~ Halloween Hag

Focused a.m. report #2: Last night Amarantha forgot about her challenge to walk the No Food Zone from 9 a.m. to midnight, added about 100 calories but still endeth under the 1999 she hath pledged till Halloween. Today's challenge is to get out door and to meetings without eating until at least 11 a.m. (she hath had breakfast). She is again resting from exercise as body does not feel right again.

A hearty "BOO!!!" goeth out to Bobsgal and SplittinMySeams and the Good Hag will add thee to the scary hobgoblin list presently. Splittin, thou art wise to take the slow train to disembarking Halloween weight freight!!! The Hag is waving her magic wand in your direction, but believeth that the real magic is IN YOU!!! You will succeed as you already have the power.

Amarantha would say: "Woo-Hoo!" to all, but since this is a scary thread, she'll amend that to "Boo-Hoo!" She crieth for all those cute fluffy pounds that will soon have to find a new home because it's TOO scary for them here!

It's the first day of AUTUMN where I am, so I'm ready to be fabulous by Halloween! :fr: :yikes:

Count me in!

Splittin' - I love your tag line, I will probably be repeating it to myself for the next few days!

GW Amarantha - Thank you for another wonderful thread idea! GW Punkin' believes Samhain is a most magickal time of year and also her favorite too!!!! I'm hoping this thread will keep me from those evil Reese's peanut butter pumpkins!!!

Currently, I'm fighting the acknowledgement of a nasty gain - I know a portion of said gain is from the hefty :jeno: meal I had late last night (stoopid me) but still, that is where I'll start from!

Now: 232.5
By 10/31: 220.0

Yea, it looks like 12 pounds, but like I said, I don't think ALL of that gain is legit, if ya know wud I mean? Don't make me get graphic 'cuz you know I will!!

Onward and downward - till All Hallow's Eve!!

OK, Count me in .
I love the fall, Halloween isn't my favorite time only because my kids keep changing their minds about what they want to go out as. So this year it is just my 11 yr old son and I told him his costume is his job this year as it was for my girls at that age. I love to decorate the house with the stuff I make and I like seeing the kids at the door.
If it is ok I will wait until after tomorrows weigh in to decide what my goal will be. Im thinking I won't have a good weigh in because I feel like I have been off track but I have been trying to make up for it with excercise. We went out for a buffet dinner last night, I chose fairly well but did indulge a little but I had spent the pervious few hours climbing through the gorge so that should counter act the food I hope. Even a maintian will make me happy.

Woooo-hooo!!! Scary witches, ghosts, hobgoblins, how is everyone doing? Boo!!!! Dost anyone have a special scary report to make on something they did today to reach their scary Halloween goal? :listen: :fr:

Amarantha reporteth that her virtual stroll across the Desert o' No Food From 9 p.m. to Midnight went well, barring the inclusion of a 165-calorie piece o' coffee cake. She endeth her eating day with 1620 calories, another exercise rest day and is drinking water.

Her challenge for tomorrow is to get back to exercise with a light only weight workout, perhaps a light walk with poles later and to continue to keep calories down.

Over and out from The GW Amarantha, aka Hag o' the Hut!!!

Well, ok! :fr: Amarantha forgetteth to report she is so into this Halloween Challenge and so determined to keep it in the forefront of her mind, that she boughteth a Halloween pumpkin/ghost friggie magnet and a Halloween pumpkin/ghost pin to wear. With these and the magic wand, HOW CAN SHE FAIL????

Good Morning, All!
I have been onsite, reading and posting for about an hour now, which i deem to be almost enough for the moment! I challenge myself to stay away from the site until I have finished my WORK for the day (scary, scary!)

Let's see... I weigh 213 as of last WI... I am aiming to be under the big "2" by Halloween! That would be fantastic! And I believe it can be done! Yes, I do!

Ok, let's get rid of the spectre of those pounds!

Crone of the Cauldron Anagram reports that she focussed mightily yesterday and did well on caloric intake, water and exercise. Am focussing today as well. On Mondays and Tuesday, she usually focusses as repentance for weekend indiscretions and because she is mightily frightened of the scary Wednesday weigh-ins.

Anagram must seek out some magic talisman to remind her of her focus. Or post on her fridge a recent pic taken by dh. I was feeling thin that day and looking good (IMHO) but on the pic I looked like a beached whale. Whales are not in keeping with Halloween scheme so that was not a good way to look. It is a fearsome sight and certainly scary.

Welcome Scoobysnacks!! You're the first "lister" that I've been able to say "I know what she looks like!!!". I also have to admit that I giggled when I saw your name - love it!!!

Babette - Let's hear it for an impending Onderland destination!!!!! I hope to be following you there around the beginning of the new year... :cb:

Anagram - Let not the scary Wednesday weigh in frighten, those pounds will be ghosties in no time!!! (drink LOTS of water today!)

Amarantha - If you'd like you can borrow my witchy pin. When you press this tiny button on her cape she cackles and her eyes blink red... she's hysterical!

I bought myself an autumn swag yesterday (gotta love Michaels) and it's my new goal to replace that swag at Yule with an appropriate Christmasy one. Then again at spring and so on... that is going to be a gift to myself....

Doing ok so far today - it's 7:45am and I've already got a couple mugs o' water in me... Cats dropped the Tanita scale on the floor AGAIN - so it went under the counter until their psychotic episode is over....

Ok, focusing! :fr: Reporting that I did my light weight workout. Trying to take another day off work, but pledging at least a 20-minute pole walk
AND pledging to keep calories BELOW 1700.

Babette/Arabella!!! Welcome to the Halloween Haunt ... we are HAUNTING DOWN those pesky  and chasing them from the magic forest. Waving the wand in your direction for a goal o' 199?! Is that ok? Let me know if that's not where you want it set and I'll change it! The Hag lives to make lists!!!

Punkin: I would LOVE to (virtually) borrow your witchie pin!!! Thanks be!! Please send your scale-hating cats, too! Do you think they are trying to tell you something? I'm going to decorate my living room for Halloween. I get a charge out of walking the seasonal aisles and seeing all the ways this holiday is conceptualized in the mega culture I exist within.

Scoobysnacks: I couldn't download your pic but will try again when the Spirit o' the Internet quits kicking me offline!!! ("Scooby-dooby-do, where are you? Couldn't lose a  without you!!!")

Anagram: The crone salutes thy mighty focusing and is looking into the swirling cauldron and reading the message that thou hast nothing to fear from the Wicked Wednesday Weigh-In. With they good efforts this week, The Hag Amarantha feeleth it is in the baggeth! :hypno:

Dollar: GW/Hag Amarantha forgot to commend thee on the other thread for thy hiking prowess!!!! Hiking is the BEST!!! Go, Dollar, go!! You're on your way and hath inspired me to hit the desert for a bit this day also!!! :cp:

To All Witches, Ghosts, Hobgoblins and assorted Focused Frightening Folk on this thread ... "Woo-hoo, 'cause the  are gonna say, 'Boo-hoo,' on All Hallow's Eve!

Hocus Pocus - the Demon Scale reads two pounds down this morning over last Wednesday. After my .4 gain last week and two prior weeks of barely maintaining, I am most gleefully proclaiming my start weight for the Scary Halloween Challenge to be 232.8.

250/232.8/225/? Looks doable on paper anyway.

Hello all

Feeling a bit ill today... felt like the walking dead last night and then got a phone call that explained it all - my friends that I spent Mabon with are all sick. Great, thanks for sharing... love ya! :dz:

A little peeved with my house people. My new house is 1 year old next month and I made my appointment to have my warranty stuff all done and told them they needed to call in advance so I could get time off - well, he called my WORK last night after I'd left and left a message saying he wanted to come today. Is that notice????? No. And I'm not about to let them work in my house without me there - am I being paranoid? I donno', I just don't like the idea of people in my home without me in there...

Anagram -  There they go!!! Two pounds have exorcized themselves from your body!!! Be gone demon pounds!!!

Scooby - Mmmmmm carrot cake..... put cream cheese frosting on anything and I'd eat it!

Amarantha - The scale hating cats may be trying to tell me something... I don't know, but I put it under my counter so even I forget about it - HEY! Maybe that was their point! They're tired of seeing my nekkid bod stepping on it all the time!!

I got one of the scale hating kitties to the vet yesterday for her checkup - no vaccinations though. When she was a kitten she almost died from anaphylactic shock when she got her vaccinations. Thankfully the Dr. yesterday was the same one that treated her at 8pm in emergency care last year and remembered her so there was no arguement about not vaccinating her... She's a healthy 11 pound kitty now but must stay indoors for the rest of her life...

Well, off to read my other threads!!!

Ta,
Terri

... those extra  soon will be RUBBLE!!! Heeeee! (witchy cackle)

Just kidding, Witchie-poos!!! No sweet little :dance:s were hurt in the making of this film!

ANAGRAM HATH SAITH "BEGONE!" TO TWO :dance:S!!! And this is PRE-CHALLENGE weight. She's just gearing up for the SCARY HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE!!!! WOO-HOO, Anagram, those  are saying, "Boo-hoo!!! We need a new home!!" (NOT in the direction o' the Hag's Hut, please!) Updated list followeth, o' Anagram!!

Scooby: Fear not!!! Carrot cake is a HEALTH FOOD!!! Vitamin A, fiber ... it's even healthier with cream cheese icing ... calcium!!! :jig:

Punkin: Amarantha hath felt ill for several days with a witchy viral spell likely sent to her from the DEMON o' THE SCALE, who wants Amarantha to indulge in comforting cakes, pies and dulce de leche and be helpless with excess lardo when stomping on his back this weigh-in Sunday!!! Amarantha is too smart for that ploy. She eatheth healthy food and moderately and exercise gently.

Feel better soon!!

And you are NOT being paranoid ... my hut is a hovel but I still don't let people come in and do things when I'm not here!!! Not a good idea.

Re: Vaccinating cats ... my vet doesn't recommend it for house cats either. My girl has only lived indoors here and at my brother's house previously. I'm never going to vaccinate her.

Off to make phone calls, then ... dunno!

Hello

Pumpkin seed im sorry u feel sick. I hate when that happens. And no i dont think your being paranoid about your house. Lots of crazys out there. :dizzy: Im glad your cat is doing ok. Cats are way cute!

So back from lunch....i dont know if i did good or bad. Wendys gave me a fried chicken sandwich opposed to the grilled one i order. It was through the drive through. SO i ate half and threw the other part away.

I went to the gym during lunch time and well just paddles around in the pool. Meaning i will have to go back tonight. HOwever i have this really hot aerobic instructor and he makes it worth it every time...he he. He is a friend but he is still hot and i will take anything for motivation to go to the gym.

i need to stop weighing myself. its my goal to wait til saturday not to weigh myself. i hope i can pull it off.

Well Im late with my post but here goes I got the FRIGHT of my life when I got on the scale Tues night. Up 3 #'s shocking. I did this one time before and had no explaination. this time I deserved a little but not this much, well my system is not working as it should so by next week I should be down the 3 and hopefully more. So I will strive to frighten away 11lbs by the spookiest night of the year. Im 209 now so that will put me at 198, that will also mean I should be just over the 70# mark. Do able indeed so look out cut little fat buddies be prepared to get the fright of your life and get you out of mine. Good luck to everyone.

"And the GOBBLIN'LL get yuh, if you don't watch out!!!" (with apologies to James Whitcomb Riley, who I think said it was goblins that'd get us, but WE know it's GOBBLIN' that's the really scary thing!) :fr: :yikes:

Dollar: It is only the DEMON SCALE lying to you!!! :hypno: Wait a week and the good magic will kick in again and Demon Scale will be forced to tell you the truth!!! You bet!!!

Eydie: I have a lot of fitness chants, many of which I've stolen from forgotten sources, like this one I found in little book a few years ago (apologies in advance to unknown author): "Mirror, mirror on the wall, my willpower is growing, encompassing all ..." There's more but it'd violate fair use if I post it all. But I like it!!! I also like to sing (apologies to anyone this offends) "Onward fitness sold-i-ers, marching as to war, with the flag o' fitness going on before!" This is probably all redundant as I've likely posted it before, but I also like: "Pounds o' fat, get outta town! Sound off! Sound off! We don't want those pounds around!"

Chanting hath helped the hag through many a desert hike, but she maketh sure no tourists are about when she does it, as they look at her strangely!!!

Ending eating day at 1690 calories, 100 minutes o' exercise in several sessions. Traveling tomorrow and the hag's only challenge is to focus on correct eating and hope for an ersatz hike somewhere.

Have a frightfully wonderful night, Witchie Poos!!! Boo! :fr:

Scooby and everyone, it's been a long time since I've shared this link so I thought I'd throw it out there again. It's to the USDA and has guides for calories, fat, etc... If you put in your daily intake of food it tells you calories consumed, all your vitamins and most minerals and also breaks down fat, cholesterol, fiber, sodium and more. I love it - I use it to occasionally see where I am with my diet (diet meaning what food I'm consuming, not restricting). http://147.208.9.133/ Enjoy!

You can call me "Grace" today... I fell this morning on one of the cat's toys (huge plastic doughnut with ball inside) while walking towards Maia to see what she was chewing on (sounded like glass, it was plastic). Before my knee hit the ground (yeah, rug burn!), I felt my foot literally try to fold in half (as in big toe trying to bend over the top of my foot) - I also tweaked my back again and put a silver dollar sized bruise on my shoulder when I hit the corner of the table in the front room. I've got my foot iced and a small bruise starting around the base of my big toe... I don't think I broke it, but it smarts pretty good. I'm wondering if my subconscious didn't do this on purpose so I can't do anything????

Dollar - Your attitude and commitment is inspiring. You've come so far, lost SO much and now I can truly see why. You've got some stick-to-it'iveness there!! :cb:

Ok, back to work...

Hi All,

Just popping in to say hi. I need to focus on work today. Last night my son's roommate called us from Emergency. He'd taken Matt there because he'd been in a cycling accident and was messed up and had no recollection of the accident. We spent a few hours at the hospital - seems he has a grade 3 concussion - he had amnesia last night and would forget things within 5 minutes. Plus he's lost a fair amount of skin, although it's superficial thanks be. We had to keep watch over him overnight to make sure he didn't lapse into a coma. This morning we can see that he will likely recover completely quite soon. But it was worrisome!

Amarantha, I like your approach - telling yourself you are at your H Goal weight. Think I'll try that... I have a potluck dinner tomorrow night and am getting myself psyched up for it.

Punkin, thanks for the link. That's going to come in handy. I need to remind myself that it's really a numbers game, and if you get the numbers right it will work.

Hi to everyone!

Hmmm. Back from trip, spent five hours on the broomstick and NO convenience store stops for EVIL ingredients to feed the DEMON SCALE's obsession for higher and higher numbers!!! HALLOWEEN HERE I COME!!!!

"Can't wait, can't wait: 158, 158!!! WOOOO-HOO!!!

[I]Punkin: (Ok, Amarantha will call thee Grace if thou insisteth!) :jig: Sorry for thy mishap. Hope it gets better soon. Perhaps the universal continuum telleth thee to rest!! Thanks for posting the URL! I have the USDA's food count lookup listed but did not know they had this other function.

Scooby: Thou maketh us smile also with thy upbeat attitude and everytime I see thy handle, I heareth "Scooby-dooby-do, YOU CAN DO ... " :jig: :cb: Another quick rule of thumb when away from the computer and not able to access the site Pumpkin hath posted is to multiply thy desired weight by 10 (if not active), 12 (if moderately active), or 15 (if very active).

Babette: Sorry about your son's accident but glad the news is good this morning. Thou hath had a very hard night! Hope you slept before working.

You are right, this weight loss thing is a numbers game and BY NUMBERS WE WILL WIN IT!!! The hag can see numbers swirling in the cauldron, swirling, swirling, swirling ... and though it's the SCARY HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE, the numbers floating in the boiling brew are good and pleasant and magical in nature!!!

The Hag's magic numbers is 158, 158, BOO-HOO, THE HAG IS GREAT!!!

To all Witchies, Hobgoblins, Elves and Scary Fitness Folk!!! Have a great evening!!!

Punkin, Good Witch of Friday do declarith it a wonderful day!!!!! :cb:

No real reason... other than it's FRIDAY!!!!!

Just sitting at my desk all day I didn't think I'd really hurt myself until I ran some errands yesterday - OUCH!!! My foot, knee and shoulder hurt, my neck and back are now stiff and the darned rug burn owie is quite bothersome... but other than that, I'm a happy girl! :dz: Whatever happened to the days when we'd bounce if we fell??? I've seen 3 year olds fall harder than me and get up laughing... getting old bites I 'spose?
I'm going home to watch movies - I rented Monsters Inc., Murder By Numbers, Monsoon Wedding and Big Fat Liar. My Mom gave me Lord of the Rings to watch too - so I'm gonna be a slug this weekend except for Saturday night. We're having our 2nd annual Cowboy Poetry and Music night here on the ranch where I live. It was a blast last year...

Babette - I bet you were out of your mind with worry!!!! I'm so glad he seems to be doing better and will recover.

Amarantha - Congrats on zooming right past the evil convenience store!!!

Welcome Hot Splash!! Never too late to join in on the fun!

Well, I've got new clients to love on today... I don't feel like it though. I got quite the compliment yesterday from "my guy" - he told me I couldn't leave on vacation next month because it won't be the same without me. LOL! I'm only going to be gone 5 days!!!! He said he didn't want me to go... very sweet. I'm praying for a huge, harmless earthquake that will bring southern CA and central Oregon within an hour of each other... well, one can hope can't they??

Why is it so hard for me to work out these days? Every time i go to the gym i feel like a million dollars then why do i have such problems getting to the gym. Why dont i want to go there?
Oh well just struggling a little this week. Had an amazing work out yesterday so why dont i want to go back today?

Well pumkin i hope you feel better. Yea your fall does not sound pleasant at all. Thank for making this a good friday! Good witch!
I hope i take myself to the gym. To many scooby snacks not enough scooby workouts!

HOTSPLASH Welcome to the halloween challenge...we are going to be thin little tricker treaters! Especially if we start walking the route we are going to take and practice it everyday. HE HE:lol:

I was hoping someone could put spell on the demon scale to make it disappear for a little while. (PLEASE MS. HAG)Like maybe a week? Is there anyone else who keeps stepping on it more then once a day...driving me crazy!

OH god one more thing i forget to discuss...im going out to eat alot this weekend socially and how to i avoid food. I just need to stick with chicken and salad...chicken and salad....chicken and salad...and salad with chicken to mix it for diversity.

Hope everyone has a happy friday..and an great healthy weekend!

... The happiest day o' the week if though be Punkinseed (who actually is the :queen: o' Friday). Howesomever, this weekend Punkin hath injured herself but hath the consolation of a lovely scary autumn weekend coming up with cowboy poetry (I've covered lots of those events, Punkin ... maybe I'd fit right in where you live) and SCARY movies, the better to prepare herself for a WONDERFUL Halloween season!!! Feel better, Punkinseed!

Hotsplashes, welcome to the deep scary autumn woods wherein doth dwell all manner o' SCARY stuff (we're trying to SCARE the fluffy dancing pounds away to reach our Halloween goals and if that doesn't work, we're puttin' a magic spell on 'em!) It be never too late to join the FEARFUL FAT FIGHTERS!!! The Hag will put your starting weight and goal on the list and update whenever you tell her to!!! :fr:

Dollar, The Hag apologizes, as did see your post with the starting weight but somehow forgot to poseth it on the roster. She is writing this roster with a smoking stick o' charcoal on the wall o' her dark and S-C-A-R-Y little hut as the fire burns and cauldron bubbles and perhaps the smoke got in her eyes or the fog crept in from the dank and S-C-A-R-Y forest and temporarily blinded The Hag. Thou shall be on the next list posted!!!

Scooby, The Hag is sending you her (virtual) magic wand and instructions for a DEMON SCALE spell. When done properly, the spell makes the DEMON disappear if you so much as LOOK at it at any other time than thy regular weigh-in!!! :nono: ... Please keep the wand, as The Hag hath a goodly supply to last until Halloween!!!

To All Willowy Witches, Goalsetting Goblins and assorted other fit folkettes: Let's go out there and MAKE a challenge to ourselves each and every day to add something to our magic potions for bringing in our goal weight on Halloween!!! We are SO sure to succeed, it is SCARY!!! :fr: :yikes:

Hocus pocus, focus, focus!!! Vrooom!!! (swishing off on broomstick)

Hag endeth eating day at 1755 but EXTREMELY hungry still ... she will try to hold out till the very witching hour o' midnight, wherein the new day cometh in the scary autumn woods!!! She hath hiked for two hours in desert (state park really) and really got much higher up mountain than she hath since accident in March ... at one point she faced a short bouldering interlude as she did not remember that boulder being there but was too hot to go back down the way she came, so Hag, not feeling confident yet that she would not injure her ancient self if she had to climb frontways, threw walking poles on top of the offending giant rock cliff, sat down and pulled ancient creaky self up BACKWARDS, worrying all the time about snakes but glad she's been working on her triceps!!!

At last the daytime temp hath gone back to double digits ... The Hag findeth it a strain sometimes to get in an autumn mood when it's 107 degrees outside. She must stir the pot and conjure a Halloween scene ... a party in a grand house at the edge o' the village, golden leaves at sunset, bobbing for apples, apple cider, an apple-cheeked maiden, Ichabod Crane riding off through the cold dark woods ... :fr: :yikes:

Unlike poor Ichabod, we of 3FC WILL be around on the day after Halloween; and, WE WILL BE AT OUR HALLOWEEN GOAL WEIGHTS on that glorious morning after!!! We can't fail because we have the magic hocus pocus focus to DO THIS THING!!!! Wooo-hooo!!!!

We know the DEMON SCALE (DS) will become a sweet little kitty cat on that wonderful Halloween morning BECAUSE we are so scary DS will not dare to mess with us!!! We saith, "Behave DS; no tricks, only treats!!!"

Ok, The Hag hath rambled enough. She raiseth her blood sugar and is good to go until MIDNIGHT!!! Yahooooo!!!! Boo!

Hotsplashes, I hear you about the nasty weather yesterday. It sure was miserable but it was much needed rain, too bad we couldn't of had some of that during the summer when the grass was so dry. I lived in the Niagara region most of my life. I now live 2 hrs North in farm country, not on a farm however just in a very small town. It is a beautiful fall day today, just the kind of day I like. Well good luck to everyone with this challenge.
Punkinseed hope you feel better I feel for you and it does bite to be aging, my dog knocked me down last year about this time and without bumping I ended up with a concussion from the impact of my big (not so big now) backside on the ground. Feel better.
Babette how is your son doing I feel for you because it was not that long ago I was in your shoes, it was myself and 3 other members of my family that were in the car and it is the scariest thing to go through. Time however heals all wounds and fears. Take care.

Babette, I am also wondering how your son is doing. Please post when you can and update us. Hope all is well.

Hotsplashes, I would love to see the real Sleepy Hollow Bridge where your sister grew up. The Headless Horseman is one of my favorite stories and likely accounts in great measure for my love of Halloween, I think!

Dollar: Your little town sounds beautiful. Enjoy your beautiful fall Saturday! :)

The Hag thinketh she will go back to her wretched cot in her scary hut in the dark autumn woods! She must focus, focus, focus on NOT blowing her calorie limit for one more day while getting all stressed over deadline looming. Must work to conjure up a paycheck!!!

Hello, Hello!

Thanks for the good wishes and concern. My son is recovering nicely. He was actually scheduled for an interview the next day for a much better job (he feels like in his current one he's selling his soul - this one is technical support, which he's really good at). He couldn't make the interview, of course (and wouldn't have made a great impression if he had, what with the concussion  ) but they will reschedule. He also has an interview for technical support at another company, so hopefully his luck is turning.

As for me, it's that time of the month again, the dreaded end-of month workathon. You and me both, Amarantha. Went to a potluck last night and today, I just want to get through and then start to push this diet thing tomorrow.

Love to all!

Looks like a beautiful day in Central PA - not scary at all. I'll step on the scale - THAT will be scary. Yesterday was nice as well, drove an hour north to take Mom to lunch, etc. Was surprised to see no trees turning color yet. Usually gorgeous by now when I'm up there. Hoping there's some by this weekend when we travel west a few hours for a wedding.

Y'all seem to live in such interesting places. I don't know if I'd have had the ice cream cone - I'd have probably cheated with the wine.

Babette - I too am glad your son is doing well and, Dollar, that you and your family are survivors. Hope your headaches are better.

Hag - you face the dreaded deadline and that is truly enough to scare the poundlings away. I always get a lot of other things done while I'm trying to avoid doing the deadlined chore - even things I otherwise have trouble getting me to do. I am a little bit on to me these days and have been learning ways to trick me to get some things done. A shame I must be so devious with me but all is more fun than THE THING we must do.

Woooo-hoooo!!!! :fr: The Demon Scale hath betrayed The Hag one more week. She's up a half pound, though she's been SUCH a good witchie poo on her program. After screaming for a half an hour, though, she realizeth continuing on is her only option, so after deadline is over, she will stare into the steamy swirling cauldron and crunch her calorie numbers one more time to figure out what she is doing wrong besides having the metabolism of a sea cow!!!! But it's cool. Really.

Yes, Anagram and Babette, things do have a way of getting done when on deadline EXCEPT deadline stuff. Why is that? I have cleaned house, posted on 3FC, tatted, read a mystery novel, brushed Old Dog, cleaned birdcages and now I realize I need to go shopping. Last story still only half done and I need to travel tomorrow! Probably get done at midnight.

Sounds like everyone is having fun today. Think I will, too!!! Hotsplashes, that was a very modest and admirable "cheat" day ... ice cream has calcium in it, after all, and don't we all need that? You bet!!! Great move in throwing the chip bag away. It's always hard to do that, but sometimes it's the only way!!

To all: Have a frightfully, op day!!! I'm going to post an update on my weight on the roster. I need more things to do to keep me from actually working. If anyone wants to be updated in a similar manner, just post it and I'll put it on. If thee (thou?) wanteth no updates, that's cool, too.

This is very CHALLENGING AND SCARY because every nerve in The Hag's ancient body and brain is screaming: "YOU GAINED BY STAYING OP ANYWAY, SO WHY BOTHER; GO THOU AND EAT, EAT, EAT, BECAUSE THERE IS NO HOPE FOR THEE!!!! GIVE UP!!! THROW IN THE TOWEL!!!"

Hmmm. Think I will! :cb:

NOT!!!

good Day ladies,
Well hotsplashes it has been a long time since Ive seen a grape and wine festival parade I used to go all the time. My brother was actually in the parade yesterday, he was one of the firemen. after the parade he came up here to visit us.
It is the day after the big party and Im taking it to recover. It was wonderful my daughter didn't have a clue we were doing this for her. The look on her face when she came into the hall and we all threw chickletes at her was great. you wonder way chickletes, well when she was little I always called her chicklete, she was too litte still to call her chicky or chick so chicklete it was and it stuck. As she got older I was only aloud to call her that at home. So just one more embarrassing moment for her yesterday, everyone now knows her nickname. She was in shcock that we did this for her. My mother-in-law was there and she gave her a charmbracelet that my father-in-law gave her many years ago and she knows how hard it has been for my daughter since he passed away three years ago, the day before her 13th birthday. Not much brings my chicklete to tears but that sure did, it was done in private so she wouldn't be embarrassed but she was very touched. So alll in all it was a very successful day. I even made my mac and tuna, and potatoe salad low fat so my odler daughter and i could also enjoy some, I had a small piece of cake and lots of water.
Hotsplashes would you happen to be from St. Cath.
Everyone enjoy the rest of your weekend.

"Hocus, pocus, focus, focus!!! The Hag is DONE with deadline stuff and focusing on resting up for her walk later. She planneth to BREAK THROUGH this scary weight plateau and get results by Halloween and to that effect hath bought a little fall statuette (cheap) of a cute scarecrow that is now keeping guard on her stove. This is not a very scary scarecrow but will also work for a Thanksgiving Challenge, should one follow after Halloween ...

Dollar, what a sweet story about your daughter's birthday party. It sounds like a huge success and you worked very hard to make it so. Kudos!!! :cp: and kudos also for the making of the low-fat mac and tuna and potato salad. That sounds really good ... I might try the mac & tuna this week.

Babette, I know what you mean about breaking through to ONDERLAND ... I feel that way about getting back to the 150s (not to mention the 140s, not to mention ...) It's the cusps in weight loss that are pesky to break through. It seems once you do go below the mark, another plateau is broken and a period of no effort begins for awhile.

I start tai chi this week. I am counting this as exercise as at my four calorie average per minute, it should be about right. I think tai chi should count as a slow walk at least? If you have a calorie count for this, can you post it? I can't find one.

To all hobgoblins (what IS a hobgoblin?) and assorted scary folkettes, have a great night. THE HAG WISHETH ALL TO SUCCEED AT THIS CHALLENGE, AS SHE INTENDETH TO DO, WHETHER THE DEMON SCALE LIKES IT OR DOES NOT LIKE IT!!! (Oh, sorry, was I shouting?) DID YOU GET THAT, DS? Back for my nightly ghostie postie! I ate well today and just got back from a HUGE walk where I ended up going up a huge flight of stairs from one end of a hill to another...rather interesting and left me out of breath...Dollar the party sounded wonderful and what a sweet story... and yes I'm in the dreaded St. Kitts!lol ...Babbette, I love that term...Onderland...you WILL make it..we will ALL make our goals in Onderland...And oh good Hag o' the Hut...you may have gained a 1/2 lb...but maybe it was a half pound of the Good Faerie Muscle...which weighs more than Bad Faerie Fat...or the nasty water gain...which is easily gotten rid of by....well sweating or going to the little witchies room!lol...don't worry about a 1/2 pound...and I always try to tell to people like when I was training competitively for bodybuilding...you can weigh more and be a smaller size because it is all muscle...so don't rely on the scales so much as by how your clothes fit...that is much easier on the mind as well...I have been a 125 and a size 8/9 and been 145 and a size 6/7....but it was all because I was muscle...so what I am doing tomorrow nite after work is pulling out my favorite pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear in 2 years and tack them to my bedroom wall so I see them every morning to motivate me to get into the gym and to eat properly!! have a wonderful week ladies!!

Thanks be for thy words, Hotsplashes!!! I do think I've gained some muscle, as my jeans ARE smaller. That's neat that you used to train as a bodybuilder. I always had similar aspirations as I like to lift weights, but these days my workouts are quite wimpy!!! :fr:

The body IS much like a boiling cauldron, methinks, bubbling up faster and faster if we fuel it with the right stuff and stir it frequently with the right exercise, but slowing and growing cold when we ignore it and when the fire goes out!!! It's SCARY!!! :yikes:

This is absolutely my last post tonight. Traveling tomorrow and my challenge is to pass by the convenience stores and ONLY eat or drink what I bring with me!! Same challenge as always!!! :yikes:

As I got into bed last night, I felt like I was in the Bill Murray movie "Snow Day" where every morning he gets up and it's the same dang morning. That's how I felt. Like the months were melding to one and every morning when I woke up it was the last day of the month. I did make some progress on getting caught up last month (deadline day will NOT extend into the next month :nono: ) But I need to fix it more this month. This is my LIFE that's hurtling past here..

Haven't been fully focusing on the diet effort the last few days. Not doing badly, but not working on getting it off. I may have a planned treat this aft. I think it could be that kind of a day, and so much better to have a controlled treat than a binge.

Amarantha, I do congratulate thee most heartily for getting through your deadline stuff. :cp: :cb: On the Journal to Success calculator, a half-hour of tai chi comes to 198. something calories and a half-hour of walking at 4 mph to 208. I find it surprisingly strenuous, especially when I really try to do the moves properly, really stretch and so on.

Hotsplashes, I am v. impressed by that stat - 20 pounds heavier and a size SMALLER!? That's amazing. And makes me feel better about my slow rate of loss. Thanks!

Dollar, that mac & tuna does sound good! I recently made a potato salad with herb vinaigrette for a family party and it went over really well. Tasty and healthy! :cb:

Anagram, hope your WI was good. I'm not looking forward to mine tomorrow night - thinking of doing something like a 1-day fruit-only thing to clean out the system and - not coincidentally - get me a loss tomorrow night.

Let's make this a good one!

Hello all...

No weigh in this morning. Don't wanna, not gonna. I'm sick and will probably go home in a couple hours when my Mom gets back to work. :stress: This weekend's food was minimal and next to no water (I know, I know, not good). When I did get on the scale Sunday it was up 5 pounds - which I absolutely refuse to believe. Don't the sick get a "Guilt Free" pass - because between the shivers and sweating I've been going from mashed potatoes to ice cream.

The 2nd annual cowboy poetry and music gatherin' was a blast. I felt fine Saturday, but by the end of the night I was getting that odd little tickle in my throat.... Sunday I was full blown sick with some stupid bug my friend's husband brought home. Oh, then I mess up my back again from coughing... If this wasn't really happening it'd be comical! Oh, and I leave on vacation a week from tomarrow.

Bobsgal - Congrats on the 2 pounds!!! :cb: :cb:

Amarantha - I do think you'd like it here - come on up!!!!

Babette - Thank goodness your son's going to be ok and they're going to still let him interview!! Luck to him in his job ventures!

Hotsplash - A "Waaahooooo!" to you for the mega-restrained treat day!

Dollar - Your daughter's birthday party sounds like it was great - and the gift... yea, I would've cried too. What a wonderful thing for her to have.

Well, off do as little as possible before my head finds the pillow again...

Yikes! I've been away for so long--I feel like I have to run to catch up with you.
Babette, I'm so glad your son's okay! That was really scary and you sounded so together during all of it.
Amarantha, I love your cauldron analogy--may I steal that one too? I get some of my best material from you! ;)
I had a bit of a sulk this weekend--I have to do this occasionally.---Wondering why I bother with this fitness thing--anybody else do this? I feel better now--I do this because it's the only way for me, I'm miserable if I don't keep going!

Glad to see everyone here today...not glad to see everyone getting sick!! I got that flu thing the other week...ickky....No WI until Friday....I'm really having issues with getting motivated to go to the gym....I think I will start for sure on Wed. which is the beginning of Halloween month...Just gotta convince myself to go..

Have a great week everyone, eat well, excercise and get well!...

Wooooo-hooo!!! The Hag is so UNMOTIVATED it is SCARY!!! She IS giving up!! Turning the heat off under the cauldron and retreating to wearing a flowered muu-muu in a sunny hut on the beach where she will drink coconut drinks all day and eat bonbons!

Well, okay, she's not going to do any of that but feeleth mightly unsettled. Had a "controlled" binge today ... odd as was so motivated in the a.m. ... so to answer your question, Eydie, yup, I DO wonder why I bother ... it's all the fault of the Demon Scale!! Sheesh! :jig: It made me eat that Big Mac and triple thick dulce de leche shake ... was stood up by a person I was trying to interview, maybe that contributed.

But, oddly, I feel better this evening, too. Onward and downward into the steaming cauldron (BTW, Eydie, you are so nice! Feel free to steal from The Hag any ol' time it pleaseth thee ... after all, The Hag probably stole it from somewhere also!!)

I am going on, too, because I also know there is no viable alternative. Even if DS goes up FIVE pounds next week, I know I will go on trying because I refuse to give in to possession by the Daemoness Obesity ever again ... I met a lady today who is suffering extremely because of the Daemoness Obesity. If ever I got needed informing that this is a true journey (which I don't) my happenstance of meeting that lady was the message.

Punkinseed, sorry you have the dreaded Evil Flu! :fr: The sick, BTW, DO get a No Guilt Pass as far as I know. Kaylets is the keeper of these passes, though, so thou should consult her!!! I AM actually looking at job postings in your neck o' the continent. A friend and I have long thought of going there but are intimidated by the SNOW!!! Brrrrr. I remember snow from the midwest, but that was a lifetime ago. If memory serves, the stuff looks nice but it's COLD!!! :yikes:

IN THE FRIGHTFULLY GOOD NEWS DEPARTMENT: BOBSGAL HATH POSTED A TWO-POUND LOST!!!! :cp: That's the way to do it, Bobsgal!!!! The Hag shall inscribe thy progress on the roster on the wall in her little hut!!!! (E.g., update follows)!

Hotsplashes!!!! I appreciate your discussion of size and muscle. And you are so right ... muscle does weigh more but it looks SO good. It seems everyone responds positively to people of any age or weight who have good muscle tone and look strong and fit. I keep reminding myself of this and that I just consider the scale one indicator.

BTW, the Hag hath looked into the crystal ball (she has one of those, too) and seeith clearly that Wednesday is the exact appointed day thy gym motivation is scheduled to alight upon thee again!!! Keep the key in the broomstick as thou will be visited by this motivation thing suddenly and feel the need for speed to get to the gym instantly and bang down the door, thou will want to work out so badly!!! It is in the crystal ball! Resistance is futile! :nono:

Babette/WN Arabella, thanks for the deadline congratulations. I'm with you on this snowy day forever thing unless one gets on top of it. I really need to fix it also. Maybe next week? Or the next ...

Thanks for the tai chi info. Looks like I'll be ok just counting it as my average 4 calories per minute ... that's slower than the 198 for a half an hour and I like to underestimate so I can poke along. I'm not sure what to wear, just jeans I guess, since that's all I ever wear unless going to a banquet. I know I'm going to enjoy this class ... :jig: :cb:

Sorry for the long post, Witchie-poos!!! Let's go out there and HAVE a SCARY OP evening working on MOTIVATION!!! :fr:

Ah, Hag and all, my Demon Scale will soon be shaking in its scaly boots. Dr. called today and told me recent bloodwork shows a lowered thyroid and I'll be starting med tomorrow. That should make scale quake at the thought of the pounds that will (hopefully) flee if I continue unabated on program AND have the old thyroid working up to speed.

I agree that there is no other way for me to go. If I lose motivation, I must regain it. If I binge, I must make caloric restitution. Today I had my Monday Slimfast in reparation for weekend failings and then ate relatively lightly the rest of the day. Took a walk, drank water. See my halo?

Ok, I am in on this challenge. Today I weigh in at 189 down from an all time high of 240 and would like to be at 180 by Halloween. Maybe that is setting my sights a little high but I have been on a plateau and setting here for quite awhile. Good luck to all. Will check in later. By the way, I am new to this site and not very literate on this online stuff so bear with me.

Welcome all newcomers!! Kmabry and Jadcie...3lbs and 9 lbs by Halloween is very doable! Good Hag!! I too am a stress/emotion eater...if I got stood up by someone that I was trying to interview I'd binge too! And my eyes are blinded by Anagrams halo! Jadcie...if you've been stuck at a plateau, it's time to shake up your routine...eat a bit differently....excercise differently and a bit more...it probably means that you are breaking even at the calorie intake/burn off ratio...the excercising you've been doing- your body is used to it now...just like we build up immunities to medications...our bodies build up a kind of immunity to the same exercize routine....find something new and exciting to do! try something you've never done before but would like to try...

Oh...i read a wonderful journal entry by someone the other nite that she did to motivate herself to lose weight...Make a list in your journal of 25 things you would like to do when reach your dream weight!! i think it's a wonderful idea and am going to go put it in my journal as well...probably tomorrow after work...some of the things I have in mind may sound kinda silly...but they are things I've always wanted to do and never had the courage to do...even when I was a good weight before!

Jadcie we'll bear with you, dog with you , horse with you , duck with you, water buffalo with you...what ever animal you prefer!! it's a wonderful bunch here at the Halloween Scary challenge!

Having a free eats night, stirring up the metabolism cauldron and tatting! (It is scientifically impossible to shuttle tat and eat at the same time!)

Welcome to the dark hut in the scary Halloween forest Jadcie and Kmabry!!! As Anagram hath said, thy goals sound doable so c'mon in and let's do 'er!!! :jig: :s: Updated roster follows!!!

Anagram: The thyroid meds should really help in waging obtaining dominion over the Demon Scale!!! And, indeed, thy halo IS blinding in the dark scary forest. Slimfast is my favorite binge food, BTW! I LOVE the stuff, especially the vanilla flavor in a can! Hmmm. Thou hast given me an idea for the last binge o' the evening! :yikes:

Hotsplashes: That's a great idea ... 25 things one will do when reaching a dream weight. Maybe in my case, it'd be a good idea not to wait to do all the things I want to do, because my goal weight remains elusive! :jig:

The main thing I once wanted to do if I ever reach the weight I want to be (135 pounds, down from 247), is no longer an option in my life, so I need to think of something else ... but I guess I'd be happy just to finish what I started and also look at that stupid BMI chart and see that it no longer says I'm overweight!

Wooooo-hooooo, the cauldron is burning!!!! The :dance:s are fleeing in all directions!!!! :fr: :yikes:

Just a quick post before I go back home...

My back is out again to the point that I can't sit, stand or walk hardly - lying on my side with my knee up is the ONLY way I'm comfy and then the sound of my squishy lungs keeps me awake. Yup, I'm going back home, sick.... Kaylets, can I get that pass from you????

Amarantha - Fear not the white frosty stuff.... up here in the high desert, altitude of approx. 2,300 feet, we get just enough snow to make things beautiful - yesterday the Cascades got their first dusting and it's incredible. You can't compair it to the midwest - the most we've had here in 10 years has been 6-8 inches. Put it like this - in '99 we had an office in town (30 min. away) and I only drove home in snow 1 time that entire winter. The mornings were a slooooow drive, but afternoons it was clear...
Ok, enough talking you into moving!

Welcome to all the new challenge takers!

Till tomarrow...

Well this challenge is working out great. I think its keeping me on target. I have been under alot of stress lately so im just trying not to turn to food. My parents were in a car accident, they are ok, however, my dads in the hospital suffering from some breathing problems. Im going to my parents house for a week. I usually have a tendency to eat alot and bad stuff at my parents house. So im hoping to stay strong and stay on target for the month.

Im really glad i am in this challenge cause im sure i would of gone off my program if i did not have this challenge.

Witchies, hobgoblins, assorted scary folkettes, it is the FIRST DAY OF THE OFFICIAL HALLOWEEN SEASON!!! That means we can go out and buy plastic pumpkin pails and put little chocolate things in them and eat them all day ...

NOT!!! :nono:

The Hag thinketh this is a day o' rededication to the Halloween Challenge!!! She's gonna emerge from the dark hut in the scary wood only long enough to take Old Dog to vet for shot, to exercise and to shop for healthy food. She's gonna work to boil the cauldron and reshape her thoughts in the direction of autumn woods and softly falling leaves and away from evil ugly bad things like Big Macs and dulce de leche!!! Can she do it? YOU BET!!!

Punkin: Sorry thou continueth to aileth! Please resteth up and be kind to thyself as the UNIVERSAL CONTINUUM needeth every warrier well on the journey to ban !!!

I am considering thy additional info re the topic o' snow! :chin:

Scooby: Sorry to hear about your parents' accident and now that your dad is hospitalized. It's great that you've been able to stay on the path. Hope you enjoy your visit at your parents' house and that they have a computer so we won't have to go out into the dark forest at the dead o' midnight and raise our voices in song: "Scooby-dooby-do, where are you? So many new folks! Welcome!
Scooby, sorry to hear about the accident. How's your dad? When you go to stay with them can you take some of your own safe healthy food so maybe you won't be tempted so much?
Punkin, sending you some virtual hot soup. Feel better soon!
I'm staying pretty focused these days---still am apprehensive about getting on the scales regularly. Maybe if I invested in some that were accurate I'd be more likely to use them. I'm forever calibrating mine.
Anybody else doing the 3FC journals? I'm posting my food journal if anybody wants to check up on me. ;)

[I]Night falleth in the scary forest and all the witchies, goblins, ghosties and assorted fanatical fitness folk are checking their records to ensure they've eaten right and exercised so they can reach their Scary Halloween goalies!!! Hmmmm. The Hag hath finished her eating day at 1645 and hath had NO exercise but contemplates doing weights soon.

VERY hag-dedicated for the rest o' the week to this fearful quest. Looking at schedule and the banquet she must coverth Saturday night, Amarantha thinketh she will break her longstanding Sunday weigh-in rule and weigh-in on Saturday, BUT she will call it Sunday in all her records, so the DEMON SCALE won't know the difference and call out a siren song to eat too much at banquet and weigh-in again Sunday. Perhaps she will fool the naysayer in her soul that sayeth always on the night before weigh-in: "Give up, eat, eat, eat!!!" Then she will have EIGHT days until the next weigh-in and that'll be cool. She will fool herself into losing ! Yep. That'll do it!!

Eydie: Maybe thou could make a pact with thyself to just weigh once a month or once a season! Lots of fitness folk have good success by this method. As you can see by the above, I am far too obsessed with the Sunday weigh-in, so much so that the thought of going to a banquet the night before makes me nuts, even though I need the money from this job. But when I lost the major weight, I DID often skip a week or two of weigh-ins so that I would not get discouraged or would adjust the day I weighed in ... it doesn't really matter, IMO, just so there's an ongoing and rational record of scale weight ... which, of course, is but one indicator of a healthy bodyweight.

I read your food journal ... your menu is excellent and healthy. I've thought of doing one and may soon. It's a cool feature (thanks 3FC) but my haggish bill o'fare beith so unbalanced nutritionally it is no fun to post it!!

The Hag has read Hotsplashes' journal also and findeth it very interesting!!

Dollar: Dread not the Demon Scale ... thou continueth wonderfully on thy journey and it is the journey that counteth, not the destination! :)

Jadcie: Yup!!! We are primed and WE CAN DO IT!!!! You bet!!! Halloween here we come!

Well, off to my little gym for a little lift!!! :strong:

Welcome, new fellow challengers. I will weigh in tomorrow as scheduled but may after that follow the advice of the Hag and skip a few 'til I adjust to the new med. Am happy with my food choices today (even the chips/salsa) and did get in a nice huffy, puffy walk. Somehow just not too sure there'll be scale happiness in the a.m. Feeling a need for a late night sweet so am posting to remind myself of how SCARY that scale can be. Tomorrow morning we're [Husband and me!] are leaving the mountains for our first trip to the beach in 17 years. I can't believe it's been so long and I'm so excited. We're only going to be gone 2 nights so maybe my withdrawel from being away from everyone here won't be too severe---maybe the hotel will have internet access!
So---my challenge is not to eat myself into a holiday stupor. I intend to take all kinds of healthy snacks with me and seek out health food stores, healthy restaurants , etc.

Hotsplashes, thanks for your thoughts on my journal. Truth is, I do much better on a low-fat, high-carb diet. I tried the Zone for 3 weeks and I was miserable---felt so bloated and lethargic. Ick. I THRIVE on tons of fruits and vegetables. Admittedly, I have to watch my tendency to rely on bread-y sandwich-y things, when I don't feel like cooking much.

Punkin, feeling better?

Guinevere, I know what you mean about the sweaters and boots. I love cozy fall clothes! The weather here is still unpredictable--some days hot, some days cool. I'm ready for cool!

Have a healthy day, everybody!

It actually IS a crisp morning here, which beith different anyway!!!! Unseasonably cool!!! Yay!!! The Hag must see if she owneth a sweater.

Eydie: The Hag is also excited for thy trip to the beach ... it is thy chance for a personal Halloween season spa experience. The Hag hath read in a popular women's magazine this week (the one that ALWAYS has a miracle diet that usually turns out to be actually a healthy low-cal eating plan) that FISH is the MIRACLE way to lose weight now. Saith the mag, the omega-3 in the fish raises serotonin (sp?) levels in brain so bringeth control to cravings and a bunch o' other stuff. So, since there is FISH at the beach, there you are! Hmmm. Don't think that includes deep fried fish 'n chips, though! :nono: But then you'd never eat that stuff anyhow. If it were me, though ...

Fish is a good source o' protein also. I'm going to look at your journal again ... dunno, I'm like you, do better with lots of carbs, but maybe I need to add some fish to my diet. I do like little fish meals with a vege on the side and some brown rice also, but I like someone else to cook it. It's very hard to get a healthy protein meal out, I find. Most restaurants serve too much food and cook it all in saturated fat so that the health benefits are cancelled!

Anyhow, have fun on your trip!!!!

Jadcie: It sounds like "thin thinking" hath kicked the evil  thoughts from thy brain and forevermore thou shalt not be troubled by the desire to leave the path o' dietary virtue!!!! Congratulations on thy victory over the sweet monsters today and the realization that thy satisfaction cometh from a healthy bodyweight!!! :cp: The Hag will think of these things today as she walks around the minefield of her cravings!

Anagram: Good luck on thy meeting with Demon Scale, but whatever DS saith, thou hast done wonderfully and are a complete success just by thy good food choices and the huffy, puffy walk :jig:

Guinever: Hooray for long pants, boots and crisp fall weather. The Hag enjoys the picture o' you scrunching across campus in your autumn gear, the picture o' health and determination. :jig: She looketh in her crystal ball and seeith that you WILL SUCCEED IN YOUR CHALLENGE AND IN ALL YOU DO!!! Woo-hoo!!!

Hotsplashes: The Hag hath double (bubble, toil and trouble) checked both the cauldron and the crystal ball and the forecast hasn't changed. Wednesday is thy day ... the motivation will alight upon thee at the most propitious time and thy WILL SUCCEED in future in getting to all thy workouts. And the best part is WEDNESDAY IS TODAY!!!! Vrooooom!

HAVE A SCARY & SUCCESSFUL DAY ALL HALLOWEEN CHALLENGERS!!! Focus, focus!!! :hypno:

Weighed in this morning at 185, down four pounds from 8 days ago. WOW!!!!! Guess that means my goal of 180 by Halloween is a little more reachable than I thought. Maybe I should shoot for 175. Then again, maybe that is setting my goal a little too high since I just lost four pounds this last week but ten in a month is doable. What do you think girls? Howdy, Halloween Hijinkers!!! The Hag must swish off on the broom in a sec to cover a meeting high in mountains. Having a frightfully off program day and succumbed to the urge to weigh myself. Was down that extra half pound and came up with a new plan to beat obsession with the Demon Scale that is bugging me. I am using today's as my Sunday weigh in and will not hop on DS again until Sunday, October 13. It occurs to me that with the sea cow metabolism I have, the constant weekly weigh-in is as bad as those of normal metabolism who weigh in daily and make themselves nuts over the fluctuations. So by the 13th, The Hag may have a good idea whether she's going to get anywhere on this challenge or spin her broomstick's wheels!!! Sorry to ramble ... feel the need to vent this scale anxiety ... I am sure it is contributing to the mini binges that are coming back. Also I got involved today in a thing with police over a stolen car that seems to be registered in my name but I haven't owned for three years ... stressed me out as it took all my work time ... and poof, I was eating half a chicken!!!

Halloween halos go to Eydie, Jadcie and Anagram for their losses!!!! :cp: Woooooooooo-hooooo!!! I'll post an update o' the witchy roster before I run.

A Halloween woo-hoo also to Hotsplashes who was visited by the Wednesday motivation prophesied by the Crystal Ball-o-Matic (never misses)!!!! Congrats for getting your workout done in spite of humidity and asthma (should you do that though when you are having asthma?) It's 89 here also, but that's downright chilly in this neck o' the woods!!! Feels like Halloween.

Gotta fly!!

Amarantha, Thanks for the advice. I think I will leave my goal at 180, then if I am lower, it will just be an added bonus. Don't want to set my self up for failure.
Hotsplashes, I am an asthmatic as well but seem more controlled with a little weight loss. Hope that continues and good luck.
Eydie, Way to go, girlfriend. Keep up the good work. You are about where I want to be but have about thirty pounds to go to get there. 165 would be ok so I am setting that goal first and then see from there but 180 by Halloween is my mini goal. Good luck.
Everyone have a good evening and keep in touch. Thin is in.

OK, SCARY HALLOWEEN CHALLENGERS!!! Here we go for another wonderful day!!!! Let's all post some exciting, encouraging, metabolism boiling GOOD NEWS today!!!! (If it pleaseth thee or thou? .... ok? OK!!! Woooo-hooo!! Let's scare away those pounds with a million posts o' GOOD NEWS!!!)

No, The Hag is NOT on ephedra (never) ... just naturally hyper!!! She's just HIGH ON LIFE and LOVETH THIS SCARY CHALLENGE THAT SHE WILL SUCCEED AT!!! Plus she hath posted a personal challenge on her brand-new 3FC journal. (She needeth to have another place to ramble rather than work!!!) :cb:

Eydie: Looked for new menu ideas on your journal this a.m. ... please don't stop posting your bill o' fare. It's really interesting.

Jadcie: Thinketh thee be a wisewoman to keep thy goal where it is!!! Mini goals seem to work so well for most people and we oft exceedeth our expectations. Also, the slow, steady and healthy way to weight loss is the ONLY way ... not going to say IMHO because it's the truth and not just my opinion!!! So there!!! :cb: The Hag knows these things, as do all the wisewomen o' 3FC!!!

:queen: Punkin o' Friday: Hope thou be getting better and if you don't see this until next week, am interpreting that you are getting the rest you need and are ok! Post when thou can. Ok?

Babette/Arabella (Wood Nymph) Art thou on a deadline?

SplittinMySeams: Art thou out there? Art thou having computer troubles again. Let us know how thou be, if it pleaseth thee!!!

Let's see if Haggie can do this without looking: A SCARY  also to Anagram, Bobsgal, Dollar, Guinever, Hotsplashes, Kmabry & Scoobysnacks!! (Scooby-dooby-do, where are you? Couldn't do a thing w'out ya!!!)

Ok, off to pick up my lost/found cell phone, do laundry, turn in film, do grocery shopping, pay bills and ... oh, dang, do work that pays!

Remember as the EVIL WEEKEND APPROACHETH: "Hocus, pocus, focus, focus!!" Sometimes things get in the way of our weight management journey and that can't be helped. The Hag worries sometimes in talking to people (in 3D life, not here) that she giveth the impression that the battle against obesity is the only thing in life ... it is NOT, as we all know. We must first LOVE ourselves, our families, friends and our very existence before we can succeed in bringing our bodies to a state of fitness. But that said, to Amarantha, it IS worth doing to reach and maintain a healthy bodyweight. Because this is very hard to do (you bet), Amarantha decided a long time ago to really give it a heavy (though not exclusive) priority in her life. She thanketh all FELLOW TRAVELERS on this website and on the SCARY HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE for walking this mile with her.

But it is a joyous mile, really. Here is the Hag's secret to lasting weight loss (and to life in general): IT IS A GAME!!! IT IS FUN!!! BUT AMARANTHA MUST PLAY TO WIN!!! (Then if she loses, who cares, because she's given it a shot!!)

So, let's get some weekend posting in, witchies, goblins and assorted SCARY fitness folkies!!! Let's encourage each other to stay on that straight and narrow!!! Let's everyone post an upbeat but SCARY thought to encourage others this weekend!!! (If you wanna? Ok? No pressure? The Hag will NOT turn anyone into a toad, though toads are rather nice!)

Over and out!! Sheesh! Got to stop typing!!!

Ah, Hag, don't let your fingers get so tired you won't want to do the paid thing.

My scary thing is that I am going to a wedding this weekend in an area where they have a tradition of "cookie tables". this involves mega trays of cookies baked by family and friends and such tables have contributed pounds and pounds to my total. I am going to have to be REALLY motivated to stay away from a cookie binge. In the past, the cookies on these tables have been the best I've ever run across. I'm sort of (unwillingly) hoping the tradition is not as strong as in past so that there will be less temptation. this is, of course, in addition to the regular temptations of wedding fare.

But I think dh being on his very strange and required menu plan will be an inspiration to me. As he sayeth "What does it matter if it prolongs my life". This is surely a motto I can use because I truly feel that eating moderately and healthfully will prolong my life through many more beautiful Octobers and scarey Halloweens.

I have posted a scarecrow on the front door and hung a fallish wreath above the fireplace. May light my pumpkin pie candle this afternoon for pure pleasure.

All enjoy a nice weekend as I flee west in search of color en route to the wedding and in celebration of our own wedding anniversary. Someone must have sprinkled me with faerie dust as I still feel like an imp in my mind and cannot comprehend those things called calendars that tell me it will be 44 years tomorrow that I promised to love, honor and cherish.

Happy Scary Halloween Challenge news! I did an early Weigh In..Have lost a puffy scary Halloween pound! YaYy for all of us!! We are all going to succeed in someway...We have a wonderful group here!! Amarantha, Anagram, Babette, Bobsgal, Dollar, Eydie, Guinever, Jadcie, Kmabry, Punkinseed, Scoobysnacks, SplittinMySeams. I see some names on there that haven't posted in awhile! C'mon Ghosties...post with us so we can all share our Halloween Stories of Success....success can be anything from losing that puffy ghostie pound to just not having that extra cookie or can of soda to walking up instead of taking the elevator! Any success no matter how small is still a success...and I have a wonderful way of finding a success in failure....like say someone didn't lose any this week...that's ok...cause you didn't gain! you Maintained!...if you gained a bit and tell us...you have a success because you shared with us and acknowledged that you slipped...that is a success...the ability see your non-successes and deal with them! I will not weigh in until next friday!!! Have a wonderful weekend fellow Ghosties!!

Hey hotsplashes I like your theory, if you can tell us because it helps to share and we all know that nobody here sits in judgement of anyone. Together we can all do this even if we don't make our goal we are at least trying. It is a scarier thought not to try, for every lb we lose or maintain that is one less then we were when we started trying. So cheers to everyone.
On Halloween we are surrounded with treats, so instead of a sweet treat why not treat ourselves to some nice like a new item of clothing or accessory or a night out with our hubby or friends. We all deserve to treat ourselves to something special.
What would you treat yourself to?

Punkinseed
10-03-2002, 04:22 PM
No, your eyes do not deceive you!!!

It's :queen: Punkin'!!!!! With the wonders of a heating pad, ibuprofin and (no kidding) Lamaze breathing I'm here!!!

So, here's the deal... My SI joint apparently was out again from falling and I'd been ignoring it - guess I shouldn't have. I haven't been able to sit, stand or lie down for the last 3 days without burning in my legs. It's getting better slowly... Oh, then I also got the flu on Sunday... Oooh, life is just a big ol' bucket o' :censored: fun!!

But anywhooo, I heard Good Witch Amarantha yelling at me on the previous page and figured when I got a good few minutes I'd cop a squat and let you know I'm still alive and will resume kicking soon.

Amarantha - WHAT is going on with that car??? Did you at least *cook* the chicken before you ate it??? Let's hope...

Anagram - Happy, blessed, wonderful 44th anniversary!!! A loving, lengthy affair as you own makes me believe that love still exists regardless of it's hiding from me! ;)
Oh, and that cookie mega-extravaganza ain't got nuthin' on your stick-to-it'ivness! Enjoy yourself at the wedding.

Hotsplash - Congrats on the  fluffy exorcism!

Dollar - Wonderful idea... I think when I hit my next goal I will treat myself to something.... For fall I bought a beautiful harvest colored swag to hang on the entryway, perhaps for my next treat I'll buy a wintery one to replace it!

Well, miracles never cease, I weighed in this morning (unofficial weigh in) for the first time in almost 2 weeks and I'm still the same 232.5 - I'm really happy about this since I've pretty much been living on soup, biscuits, brownies and low fat ice cream for awhile... Tuesday of next week I leave on vacation, but I'll report an official, pre-vacation weigh in on Monday - wow, that oughta' keep me honest on vacation huh???

Hugs all,
I'VE MISSED YOU!!!!!

Terri :cb: (my chiropractor said if I do this dance I can consider it physical therapy)

Poor Punkinseed...what is your SI joint? and have you gone to the chiro? I love chiro's as long as you keep them in their place!lol none of this " I think you need to come 5 days a week for 4 weeks and we'll see how to progress next month" ...I go until I feel "right" then say thanks and be on my merry way...I hope you are getting better..and Congrats on the Maintaining!!

Anagram! yes Congrats on such a long marriage! It is definitely something more people should aspire to! Hope you have 44 more!

Dollar buddy! Thanks for liking my theory!lol...As for what am I gonna treat myself to on Halloween nite? Hmmm I think I'm going to buy myself this cute sweater I've been eyeing at the mall for the last few weeks! A big slouchy turtleneck done in fall colored stripes! I think it would be perfect for the occasion!

Well, I'm off to post in my journal like a good Halloween Witchie! Nite all!

Punkinseed!!! Thou hast returned in time for FRIDAY!!! Congratulatons on maintaining when you did not feel well. That is hard to do. But Hag beith so sorry also to hear thou hast had to put up with this painful condition as well as the  flu!! Hope thou is better soon ... but, yes, what exactly IS the SI joint? BTW, the car thingie, hopefully, is settled as I took a whole day off from work (and deadline looms) to run around and divest myself legally of the thing!! And, the chicken was cooked in the store ... the ex-vege Amarantha can't touch meat before it is cooked!!! :yikes: (We missed you, too!!)

Dollar: Hmmmm. Amarantha thinketh you have a good idea. She will buy herself a special reproduction of a tatting book that she wisheth to have WHEN she reacheth her Halloween goal.

Hotsplashes: Congratulations on the banishment of a  ... that fluffy little hobgoblin is off the land where fluffy  go when they retire (somewhere in Florida)!!!! :jig: I like your theory of success, too! Even a binge can be thought of as a success if the binger is able to bring it to a halt and get back on track, rather than giving up altogether and gaining back all her (or his) weight! Hag will post an update on your loss on the roster!!!

Anagram: Too late!! Hag typed so much this morning that she didn't want to do the paid thing all day!! But then she never does! Congratulations on your 44th wedding anniversay! That is an inspiring success story in itself and I also found great inspiration in your DH's motto: "What does it matter if it saves my life?" What, indeed, is an unnecessary food item more or less in our lives compared to accomplishing our health and fitness goals?

That said, thou art a better person than The Hag to face such an event as the sharing o' cookie tables. The Hag would not be able to even THINK about attending this occasion as she would not rest until each and every cookie type had been sampled. Good luck is all The Hag can say about that ... maybe the theme will have changed! :)

Well, The Hag is also going to post on her journal, which is a personal challenge to eat in the 1500-1699 range until her Oct. 13 weigh-in!

To all!! Please posteth if it pleases thy scary selves ... some witchies are missing in action ... might have to send out some Howlers (if you don't know what those are, run to library for Harry Potter!!! :cb:)

Later ...

Just popping in to report. I had a bad few days, but am out the other side now. Grisly details: bought double chocolate cookie mix and ice cream, planning to have a few cookies with a little ice cream and to freeze the rest of the dough. I ended up eating it two afternoons in a row, baking up cookies and had two big bowls of cookies and ice cream each day. Felt AWFUL afterwards, and am determined to stay on track! I weighed this morning thinking "better to know than not to know" and registered 4  pounds up. Probably not permanent though, and I am going to work HARD!

Let's make it a good one -- love to all!

And a frightening Friday wooooooooooo-hoooooooo to all Slender-as-a-Willow-Wand Witches!!!!! Or Goodly Gorgeous Goblins, if thou preferest, or other Halloween cuties!!!

Hotsplashes, Hag-0-Matic forgot to update the roster with your  gone last night, but will do so today!!!

Wood Nymphy Arabella/Babette: Fear not the four cookie/ice cream  (The Hag KNOWS about those purchases that are going to be only eaten a little and frozen for later. Sigh!) I see thou hast a journal now as well and The Hag will check it out anon!!! :jig: :cb:

Enjoyed my tai chi last night and Babette, you are right, it's good exercise. For me, especially, it really counted as a resistance exercise for knees, which is an area o' concern!!!

To All: HOPE TO HEAR FROM EACH AND EVERY SCARY HALLOWEEN FITNESS FANATIC SOON!!! (Unless thou be on vacation, on deadline, sick or just don't wanna talk, as that's cool, too!!!) WOULD LIKE TO PUSH THIS THREAD TO ITS FRIGHTFULLY LONG LIMITS!!!! WANNA RECEIVE SOME ENERGY VIBES FROM THE UNIVERSAL WITCHIES AND HOBGOBLINS IN ALL FITNESS FANATICAL FOLK AND FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS THESE HEALTHY VIBES INTO THE CAULDRON O' UNIVERSAL WEIGHT MANAGEMENT!!! OK? OK!!! YOU BET!!!!! NO MORE COOKIES!!!!! NO MORE ICE CREAM (well, maybe a little)!!! NO MORE DULCE DE LECHE!!!! NO MORE DANG EXCUSES!!! (That's The Hag, not directed to anyone else in the Scary Halloween Challenge!!) Wooooooooooo-hooooo! Come out & play!!! (I'll stop now!)

It is FINALLY Friday!!!!! :cb:

I am going to attempt a drive to town today for some final shopping for my trip to CA next Tuesday. So far I'm up to sitting for almost 2 hours.... only 6 more and I can make the trip!! Eh, I'll be fine... My Mom gave me some of those 8 hour thermal patches, I'll slap one of those on. If I can handle a drive to CA when I was having a cluster headache episode a few years ago, I can handle this! (I'm going on vacation, dammit, if it kills me!!!)

Here we go! Anatomy 101
S'okay I knew what a sacrum and the illiac (the S and I in SI) were, but not the joint (chiro educated me). Ok, if you look at the base of your spine, there's that big triangular chunk (the sacrum) that sits under all the vertibraes, right before your tailbone. That bone, the sacrum, fits right in the back side of your pelvis. The joint (there's actually 2) are the 2 places that this triangular chunk connects into your pelvis - it's those 2 joints that I pulled. These joints are only designed to move a few millimeters at most and most people's eventually fuse from lack of movement. It's also the place where the nerves from the spinal column go down through to your legs (hence the burning sensation). So, it's not really "back pain" I'm having, but more of a pelvic/top of your butt, but inside your hips, type pain - some of it feels like really bad menstral cramps. Since these joints also "lock" when you walk it's made walking interesting too.
So, there's more than you'll ever want to know about your butt bones. Being a massage therapist has been helpful in this since I'm a huge practitioner of using visualization in my healing techniques (like the Lamaze type deep breathing I've been doing) and knowing where the problem exactly is and how it works helps.

Hotsplash - I know exactly that kind of chiropractor! No, the first time I popped this damned thing he put it back and said "see you in 2 or 3 years when you need me again". Then I fell and needed him within 2 weeks... Depending on today I may go one more time before my trip, but by the time I get back I should be back to "2-3 year visits".

Amarantha - Thank you for reminding me!!! Harry Potter #2 comes out next month and I wanted to re-read the book. I shall pack it for vacation!!

Big hugs to all - I'll check back before the royal weekend ensues!

:queen: Punkin o' Friday

Hello All! I'm back from my beach trip, ended too soon but it was nice to get back home too. Held it together really well food-wise on the trip---the only time I succumbed to temptation was on the way back and had a touch too much chocolate and coffee for the long drive home. While we were there we walked for miles on the beach and that was glorious. I think yesterday we walked 7 miles before breakfast and I have the blisters to prove it, worth it though!

Amarantha and Babette, you may find this interesting. We were at Virginia Beach and went to the Edgar Cayce Institute and walked their labryinth and that's how we ended our trip. Our labrinth at home has fallen into disrepair and now we're eager to redo it.

I'll start posting my food journal today or tomorrow. I'm afraid the last couple of days are lost in the sands of time!

Good to be back. I missed you!:)

Eydie: We missed you, too, and your unique point of view!!! Amarantha was about to go eat something fattening until she clicked on here and was distracted by thoughts of Edgar Cayce ... I used to read his books in the far misty days of my distant past. How interesting that they have a labryinth in his honor ... hmmm ... I realize I need to walk before finishing my deadline stuff rather than having a sugary snack.

Thanks!!!! Glad you enjoyed your trip. Wouldn't worry about that car ride chocolate ... it's great you held your program together for the bulk of the trip and got lots of exercise. I swear exercise is the best medicine ever created!

Brrrrrrrr........ it is so cold here. when I look out my window it looks like it cold snow. Turkey day was yesterday and I managed to stay in my points. I ate a good breakfast and then did not eat till dinner. Had the turkey and all the trimmings in moderation and even had dessert. My sister-in-law's mother brought over low fat mousse because he husband is having gallbladder trouble so she brought one for him one for herself and was so thoughtful brought one for me. I really enjoyed the mousse as everyone else ate one or two sometimes three pieces of pie. I went away from the table full ans satisfied but not over stuffed like the rest.
So food wise I was satisfied and satisfied in myself that I stayed on track. Weigh in is tomorrow and I think Im prepared.

Hello... it is I Punkin, :queen: of denial...

Being both sick and injured, I believe I've pretty much eaten my way through the last 2 weeks... s'okay though, I know I've gained, I'm not entirely sure of how much, but I know...
Tomarrow I leave for vacation - I will be spending this time with my friends in CA who are also my weight loss email buddies. I will be using this time to recharge my batteries and recommit myself. I'm tired of it taking 4 months to loose 10 pounds. I know that's healthy, but I also know it's a sign that I'm not all that committed to changing my lifestyle.

I'll miss you guys!!!!! I'll be back online Tuesday the 15th, then I leave on Friday the 18th for a business trip - back to CA, returning on the 20th... oooh, I'm looking forward to being bored again already!

Dollar - Turkey day sounds goooooood. My absolute favorite foods! You should be very proud that you did so well! :cb:

Bobsgal - :cp: on the loss!! You're doing awesome!!

Eydie - Your vacation sounded great. Aaah, a labrynth! I'd LOVE to make one of those! Was yours hard to do?? I thought it'd be a great thing to make out on the back of my property, but wasn't sure how hard they are to put together... details please!

Amarantha - How'z the sinuses?? That's the worst kind of pain.... Feel better soon Good Witch, lest I feel you need a spell cast upon your drainage system...

Hugs all!

Hello all. I just returned home from work and read all your posts. I am still sitting on the 185 mark but lost four pounds that last weigh in so cant expect much this time. I have been working on this for several months now but feel I might finally have the mind set to keep it off. I have probably lost a THOUSAND POUNDS in my lifetime on every diet imaginable to man or beast and put it right back on plus more. This time I am more determined than ever to make it and keep it off. Everyone have a good week and when you shop for the little masquerading munchkins, buy something you do not like. Thanks for all the support. It really helps.

I have been off my diet but the scale says i havent gained any weight which is great. Its rather interesting i have no desire for bad food right now. I think seeing my dad like that has really scared me. Im back on my strict diet lots of water and lots of soup. I have missed reading the halloween forum thats for sure

I bought peanut M&Ms(BLACK and orange) for the office to bring in the fall. I have not desire to touch them.

Great job at not eating the M&Ms Scooby. That would be a real tough one for me. Sorry to hear about your Dad. I am glad all went well. Will keep you in my thoughts. Hotsplashes, have you tried those mini rice cakes that are flavored with barbeque, nacho cheese, etc.? They are pretty good and help suppress my need for the chips and crackers. I could give up bread forever but really miss those snack type things. Have a great day all. Remember, "If it is to be, It's up to me".

Scooby, I'm also sorry about your dad but glad he's gone through the procedure and will be able to feel better in the future. I know what you mean by feeling motivated to care for your own health after watching a loved one go through that. I had a similiar wake-up call awhile back! You are doing great to go through that stressful time and NOT be stress-eating the M&M's ... maybe you could have just ONE? Not!!! :nono:

Jadcie: The Hag hath also lost a thousand fluffy  in a lifetime, she thinketh ... she refuseth to invite them back! They are such rude guests, eat everything in sight and do NO work! Worst of all, they invite their FRIENDS over and the friends move in, too! The Hag chanteth daily: "  stay away! Come again another day ... NOT!!!

Dollar: Eleven degrees, goodness! That's the high? It's only October, too, you poor thing! The Hag is packing up some of her desert sunshine and sending it your way via express broomstick! You are doing great to stick on your program in the face of such cold. :cp:

Hotsplashes: Fifty-four sounds a bit better than 11, but The Hag would like to send you some sunshine also ... hope this doesn't sound arrogant/smug: We down here KNOW you northerners have sunshine ... we just have a lot to spare ... it's left over from summer ... they save it up in a giant Arizona room because we LIKE lots of heat in July and worry that it won't get hot enough! :jig: :cb:

Amarantha, yea though it be not so late in the month, I am already up against it by virtue of painting and sanding and so on when I should have been working and having MIL visit again (does it seem to you that MIL is always arriving here, or is it just me :dz: ) I've been doing very well. Yesterday was the first day in six that i didn't meet my challenge, because I had a welcome dinner for MIL and threw caution somewhat to the wind and had dessert as well as too much wine. But since I was on my feet all day and have been working like a mad fiend since last Thursday, I think that I will just forgive myself and move on. If I had been counting painting points I would have had plenty to make up for the splurge.

Exhausted today. I drop off the Moms for a three day leaf-peeper tour they're going on. Then I've got a painting class this aft and this evening I've got my first meeting of a writing group I've just joined. If it weren't my first one I would think of begging off and just collapsing tonight, but I had better go.

Scooby, what a fantastic loss! 80 pounds is amazing! :cb: :cp: I can't WAIT to weigh 190 again, or even to just squeeze under that big ol' 2! Thanks for being a reminder that --- uh, I CAN get there from here! i chide DH for constantly whingeing about 15 pounds he'd like to lose, and think that if that was all I had to take off I could do it easily, but in fact I would be THRILLED to take off 15 pounds and would feel comparatively slender. OK. Renewed resolve! That leftover dessert is going in the freezer and I am going to stay OP today! Bet you would be a fantastic WW!

Dollar, where are you in Canada? I'm in PEI -- 11 degrees is not too bad, although I love the unseasonably warm days - say 15 or so! Our leaves are behind schedule here, usually this weekend they would be almost at their peak and this year they're just starting.

Hotsplashes, you are right - chips are the devil's food. And I always feel like, why not have dip whist at it! You can eat a lot more chip calories than almost anything else, without getting really full. And the salt will really getcha, too!

Eydie, thanks for the report on the labyrinth. We don't really have the space for one here, but I am going to put one on my "ideas" list. I think that I could approach the city council about making one in some public space.

Let's make this a frighteningly fabulous day, Everyone! :fr:

Barbette you can do it. Its going to feel so good once you get below 200 lbs. That was one of the best feelings. And im excited for u!

JADCIE
10-09-2002, 12:23 PM
Fall always makes me think of chili, hot dogs over the fire and pumpkin pies, etc. I wonder why different seasons make us think of certain foods. I never have a season that makes me think of rice cakes and yogurt. LOL I guess that mind set will just have to change. I am a lot more motivated this time and you are such a great help. I am not going to weigh till Friday so hopefully I will show a small loss. Cant hope for too much since last week was a big one. Everyone have a great day.

10-09-2002, 02:51 PM
Yea its not good to lose to fast. So just try your best and take it slow. I hate the fall foods actually....thats usually when i break my diet cause the peaches and plums and berries go out of season....so sad. ITs ok this year im going to work extra hard on finding good things about this season. I like squashes so i will try something with that. If i can stay healthy fall and after new years life would be great. Cause for some reason they are the hardest for me. Oh well i need to think joyces things..things that we have to look forward to....like being with family, snuggling cause its cold outside, and i guess walking in snow is fun sometimes. Not for exercise but with friends going out to dinner with. I also like the gym in the winter time...something nice about going in when its cold outside.

Sometimes when I realize how well I am doing, it makes me screw up more like that gives me a license to cheat. Definitely fat thinking I think. At any rate, I am plugging along, slow but sure. I have an appointment with my family doc tomorrow to get a referral to a surgeon to get an abdominal flap removal when I reach goal. Because of two past abdominal surgeries and being obese, I qualify for my insurance to pay. WOOHOO! Well everyone have a great day. Hello Enchantresses!

I haven't been on in awhile---have had some heavy work days lately. I cook at my job and I'm always surrounded by food and strangely I've done okay!
Hmmm...sounds like a lot of us are plagued by self-sabotage. What's up with that? When I'm eating well and working out I feel incredible and I'm always floored when I toss all that away. Fear of success maybe?

Well, I've had a really SCARY week but I was blessed with a loss of .2. Which is more than I expected (or maybe even deserved) with anniversary and trip.

Trip ended up very SCARY with problems with dh's health. Lots of time at doctors, etc. Things looking better at the moment. Not overeating. Strangely don't even seem to want to though I certainly would have a few months ago.

Because of health problems, must miss my darling granddaughter's GRANDPARENTS DAY at her school. When I talked to her tonight (well, first she refused to talk to me) she was crying and guess how that made me feel. When I was talking to her yesterday she sounded ten feet off the ground in anticipation. And even that hasn't made me run for the cookies. Something must have finally snapped into place. Daughter and family live in Rockville, MD within just a mile or two of last week's shooting and Daddy's been away all week talking care of his Mom who had major surgery last Friday. So I really would have liked to be there with all three of my girls for a day or two. I'm sure dd could use a bit of relief and support. But want to be here with dh too and make sure he continues to improve.

Anagram, Sorry to hear about dh health issues. Hope all goes well. Sometimes we forget how easily our lives can be shaken up. I think I needed to step back and think of all the blessings I have and get off the pit pot. Keep your chin up. I know how it feels when grandchildren are disappointed. Breaks your heart, doesn't it? But, they recover quickly. Have a great day and take care of dh.

Anagram im so sorry. I hope things get better! Good job on not eating over stress. ;) Yea so i went to the gym yesterday and i took a step class and i pulled a hamstring muscle..that stinks. And i am very hungry so eating alot however not bad things however this morning i am eating a piece of entermains chocolate crumb cake..which is amazing tasty(scobby snacks) however very naughty. My evil twin sister(really) sometimes stears me to bad foodth. I hope i dont go off the deep end eating wise. I am finally under 190 and i dont want to get back. I hope i hold strong. Hopefully my leg will feel better tomorrow...i hope.

Does anyone else he loves to buy bad food not only for eating but enjoys the purchase of it. I buy naughty food for my office all the time and i usually stay away from it. But buying it is very exciting. OH yea and mass amounts..like wholesalers i get a high from. Wierd. Oh well. In the morning i go to the supermarket before work just to walk around and look at the food. What does one do with this obsession? Will it ever get easier. Food is very exciting to me...oh well.

Yea i cant wait for tonight just lookin forward to resting. I am suppose to meet a guy tomorrow. Blind meetings are the worst. you really never know what to expect. HOwever as many miserable meetings i have had im still willing to try again.

Well over and out.

Hellooooo there!!

It's FRIDAY!!!! How could I not check in with you????

I'm writing you from the office of my girlfriend in California! We went online to check the weather in Lake Shasta and I thought I'd pop in to say "HI!!".

So far, vacation's been a blast - eating out almost every day, but I discovered Curves!!! My girlfriend's been going for one month now and on Wednesday they did her 1 month stats - she's down 19.5 inches!!!!! I absolutely loved going with her and will be checking into the prices and times of the one close to my home... :cb:

So, ta for now, time to start packing for the houseboat tomarrow. I miss you all bunches and look forward to reading all the posts that I've missed when I get back!

Hugs,

:queen: Punkin o' Friday

Thanks for the support, ladies. Actually, I think today was one of the wildest I've had in years. I got up at 5:15 this a.m., slugged a Slimfast and took off for Grandparents Day in the dark and in the rain and knowing I'd hit a high traffic time. I had not planned to do this, just started doing it when I woke up figuring I'd see how far I'd get before I wised up. I called dd when I was halfway there and she said "What, are you crazy? Turn around and go home". I said, "No, I'm this far and I'm coming. Put directions on the door". She got someone else to take dgd to school and waited for me. The one hour forty five minute trip took two and a half but I made it to G. D. The look on dgd's face made it worth it but I told them not to count on my doing it again. Spent a short time with them at home and headed back, still in rain and traffic but at least daylight. And of course, there was another shooting today (more south than I was) but dd was all concerned about me heading back north by myself.

I think the SCARY thing about all this is that I'm usually much more together about stuff. Can't remember ever doing anything like this so spontaneously. At least not for many years. I usually measure pros/cons and make good decisions (well maybe not about food). Don't know if I want it to become a habit or not.

So my BIG PLAN for the weekend is to veg with dh tomorrow and try to get some semblance of order back in our life. Sunday I'm going to a fashion show by a local club. I usually look forward to these things, then am bored to bits while I'm actually there. Maybe this one will be different.

WOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOO!!!!! Everyone is doing FRIGHTFULLY WELL in this Scary Halloween Challenge and there are approximately two weeks to go, so more  are bound to leave the dark and scary Halloween forest. Hooooooooray!!! Today IS the first day o' the rest of our Halloween lives, so let's go out there and kick some serious  outta here!!!!! Let's wave the magic wand and say, "Hocuspocusfocusfocus!!!!" :wizard: (Thanks for the idea in your journal of running that together, Babette/Arabella, I need that on a T-shirt!.)

Updated roster is below with new LOSSES by Hotsplashes and Jadcie. However, when Hagometer changes this, she sometimes loses earlier updates, so if anyone is missing, will they be so frightfully kind as to post and the Hagometer will correct the list. She can't see all the posts anymore, so isn't sure.

HOOORAY FOR ALL WHO HAVE LOST!!!! HOOORAY ALSO FOR THOSE WHO HAVE REMAINED CONSISTENT IN THEIR PLAN AND LIVES AND ARE OVERCOMING CHALLENGES EACH AND EVERY DAY!!!!!!! That's how we get to the destination, one step at a time, saith Hag!!!!

Punkin o' Friday!!! Thou soundest as though thy vacation beith a blast! Thankee for thinking o' thy dark and scary forest chums and posting yesterday. Curves has always kind of interested me, too, but the ones here keep closing, so I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to trying it.

Anagram: It's cool thee was able to get to Grandparents' Day. Stay safe, though. Doing things spontaneously is really a good thing, IMHO. Kind of adds cinnamon and pepper to a nutritionally sound life, in my view. Hope you enjoy your vegging out and fashion show and that it is a non-boring show!

Scoooooby! Hope your blind meeting goes well. It's great to keep expanding your social horizons ... and I also admire you for having your own business. You will succeed, the Hag predicts, in whatever you do!!!

Hotsplashes: What an unkind thing for your boss to do, doing you out of a day's pay because SHE didn't feel like working. You should at least have received some compensation for getting up, getting dressed and going in. Good for you for thinking of starting up in business for yourself. You'd be great doing that, as you seem a most determined person in general. Keep going!!! :strong:

Eydie: Wooooo-hooooooo!!! Thou beith amazing to be able to work around food all day and sticketh to thy plan!!! I wonder, too, about why whenever I get a bit of success on the weight front, I have a binge. Could it be physical? The body getting nervous that I might be planning to starve it? My self-sabotage always seems to be related to work, though. Dunno.

Dollar: Enjoy your peaceful weekend. Sounds like you are doing great and are in steady state!!!

Jadcie! That's good news about qualifying for the surgery. You are really on the path o' determination and will reach your destination in great health and spirits; the Hag sees that in the crystal ball!!!

TO ALL HALLOWEEN CHALLENGERS!!!! STAY :strong: THIS SCARY SATURDAY FOR WE WILL PREVAIL AGAINST EVIL BINGE DEMONS, CHIP CHOMPING, FOCUS STEALERS, AND ALL MANNER OF BAD PRE-HALLOWEEN HABITS!!!!

HOCUSPOCUSFOCUSFOCUS!!! :wizard:

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOO! Booooo !!!!!!!!

Good Morning Ladies. Hope everyone is armed for battle of the bulge this weekend. Seems weekends are harder sometimes as we are on less of a schedule and just grab a bite whenever and wherever we are. I am working this weekend so it will be easier for me. However, the girl work with on weekends weighs in at over 450 and eats all weekend long and usually grabs candy to bring in a share. Thank you very much. Well, I will just have to be strong. Have a great weekend. Remember thin is in.

Hi folks,
Well I know Im having a good week staying in my point range with points banked but I think I set my goal for Halloween a little high. With only a few weeks left and still nine lbs to get to the goal I set I just don't think I will make it. Am i disappointed? no not at all because I know Im staying on track and I feel really good about that. My biggest challenge will be the week after this one coming up. Why you ask... well the lady that works the days I don't is on vacation that week and I will be working7 days straight. I know it isn't long days just 4 hours but I worry that I try to get by with quick meals all the time. Whatever shall I do...Well for starters I will not whine about it and secondly I will plan ahead so that the meals are already made or I will know exactly what I intend to make. I WILL BE STRONG. I WILL CARRY ON. I WILL STAY ON TRACK. I WILL SCARE THESE POUNDS AWAY.

Like you, dollar, I'm SCARED I set my goal too high. I was sailing along on smooth water when I set it but have run across rough seas lately. However, I feel good anyway because clothes are getting looser, etc. Yesterday I put on a pair of slacks I had not worn since spring. Not only are the pants way baggy but the belt moved in two notches. I suspect many things I had planned to wear this fall will fall into the "baggy" category but that's fine with me. Been a long time since anything was too big for me.

Like you, Anagram, my clothes are fitting better and I'm thrilled about that! I'll weigh myself at some point this coming week to see if I've lost anything. I'm feeling VERY positive right now and feel very confident in this faithful old body of mine. Hope it lasts!

Dollar, planning is everything. I always feel more secure when I pack my own healthy food, otherwise I'll cave in to temptation. You can do it!

Speaking of feeling secure--all you wholesale/bulk queens, I'm right there with you! Makes me feel so well off to have huge amounts of good food in the house. My friends make fun of me relentlessly. I was in my glory a couple of years ago planning for Y2K! I was almost disappointed when nothing happened--almost, that is!:D

Well Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian friends. It isn't a very nice thanksgiving weekend however. The sun is trying very hard at this moment to peek its head out. I have my supply of fresh fruit and vegies in the house to get me through the week, I just love going to the huge farmers market that is about a 40 min drive from here but is well worth it. Film at 11. :fr:  :yikes:

Well, not really, but her experiment with no weigh-in last week, plus she thinketh too much posting online by adding the journal (possibly setting herself up for failure?) hath led Hag into a negative spiral that translated into a POSITIVE weight gain and she's now up 2.5 in two weeks, even though as with others here, her clothes are LOOSER! What's up with that? :jig:

SO, Hagometric hath been on the crystal with her attorney, who specializes in caloric control law, and lo, she saith that THERE IS NO LAW THAT SAYS THOU CAN'T CHANGE THY CHALLENGE. So Hag is setting her starting weight at 166.5 and her new Halloween goal at 164.5, which will mean she'll come in on Halloween at precisely one-half pound more than she REALLY started at but (this is the slick part), she'll be a success because she started over!!!!

Hag is now vowing to stick to 1500-1699 calories EVERY DAY (no binges) and do two exercise sessions per day. This plan WORKS, if only Hag would work it consistently.

Hagometric will update her change in the SCARY HALLOWEEN ROSTER ... if anyone else wishes a similar change, let the ol' Haggie know. She is quite depressed or would offer words of encouragement to all! SIGH!

HOWSOMEVER, the Hag WILL eventually get to her weight goal of 135. She may be quite old at the time, but she will get there. She wisheth to remind all of the 75 distinct personalities residing in her fevered brain that WE DID NOT LOSE 100 POUNDS FOR NOTHING! Sheesh!

Hag's motto for the week (idea stolen, er, borrowed from Prevention Magazine): "I will lose a pound this week!" She is posting that motto all ovr her house and has established a checklist on the memo board on her refrigerator.

Another challenge for Hag this week is to reduce or eliminate slimfast from her diet, replacing at the moment with Glucerna, which is far healthier and helps stabilize her blood sugar.

Ok, now she will go back to work! This is a me, me, me post that I'd thought should go in my journal, but I'm locking the journal. Takes too much time and I think the interaction and support in a thread is more where I should be boring people!!!! :jig:

I WILL LOSE A  THIS WEEK!!!

Hag-o-my heart - I would like to share your motto - I will lose a pound this week. That sounds so deceptively simple.

Be not downhearted; you have already lost an impressive amount and helped your health enormously. I applaud your resetting of goals and may yet follow that lead as well. Weigh in Wed. should give me a sense of where I'm heading.

I'm sure someof your gain is muscle and probably a mite of water. If I'm not really stringent, I put on 2-3 pounds of water almost overnight. I've peaked at the scale twice recently and have been amazed that I've not gained despite my poor water performance and lack of exercise this past week or so. Tomorrow I tighten it up again (I do most of my "tightening" in anticipation of Wed weigh in).

I too believe in spontaneity but didn't expect to be quite as spontaneous as I was on Friday. But somehow I've seen the light about a strong point: WHEN I REALLY WANT TO DO SOMETHING, I MANAGE TO ACCOMPLISH IT DESPITE OBSTACLES AND/OR OPINIONS OF OTHERS. So I and I will be having a heart to heart tomorrow about what I really want to do with me vs. what I've been saying and telling my fellow hobgoblins I want to do.

Fashion show turned out to be a better afternoon than usual. Won a prize or two including a SCARY, SCARY basket of chocolate. When I won another type of basket as well(unbelievable), I donated the chocolate basket back to provide another prize. I did bring home for the freezer a chocolate bar that was a favor and also bought an angel food cake for dh (who naturally will share it with me).

DH has been an inspiration to me in the way he is following his very restricted (and horribly bizarre) diet.

I think the Glucerna is a great idea for keeping your blood sugar more in line, Hag. I would miss my cappucino flavored Monday morning Slimfast though. I've noted I've cut down on my use of the Slimfast meals lately though they have been most helpful when I though I might go wild bingeing. A note I'm also proud to report is that the remainder of a bag of Snickers that dh had stocked when he abruptly had to give up nuts & chocolate (& lots more) lieth untouched in said freezer. Haven't even been tempted. After much discussion, we have decided to be away from home for trick or treat night this year. This has happened only once before and was not then deliberate. I feel strange planning to be away but have decided that it would be in our best interests and that sometimes it is important to put our well being ahead of custom. I like to feel I was well represented on the treat rumor mill (always had upwards of 100 visitors) and have always enjoyed the evening. But not enough so to bring additional sweets into the house. I considered apples but the once I did that before, it was not well received. Anyway, time to figure out another way to enjoy the holiday. Possibly go to see grandkids do their trick/treating which I think this year is the same night as here. (We have the unusual custom in the township of my residence of having Trick/Treat established by the commissioners instead of by custom. It almost never falls on Oct 31 even when that date falls on a Friday or Saturday which would be great t/t nights. No it seems it must be on a school night when it does not interfere with football games, etc. This year however they have set it for Oct.31)

Anyway tomorrow is a rethinking, reorganizing day as well as a Slimfast Monday. Success, all.

Lordy, I'm long winded! Sorry.:o

Hello, Ladies. I am still stuck at the 184 mark. I really could use some advice on a way to get off this plateau I am on. I seem to be within this 2-3 pound range forever, or at least it seems that way. I used to have a copy of a diet that you stayed on for three days and then went off for four and it would help you drop 2-3 pounds quickly. It was called the computer diet and I really did well with it. Does anyone know of that one? I have lost my copy years ago. Well, good luck everyone. I will get off my pity pot now. I should not complain as I have lost 55 pounds so far but it seems to go so slow at times. Oh well, it did not go on overnight either. Have a good day and good luck.

GOOOD NEWSSSS!!! Bobsgal hath chased away another two !!!! Congratulations, BG, the Hag-o-Meter will tally that into the roster.

Re roster, Hag hath taken out the total pounds lost line, so's to give everyone the chance to restate their starting weight and/or goals. (It's all personal choice in the SCARY HALLOWEEN FOREST!!!)

Thanks for the support, Anagram and Hotsplashes ... Hag-o-Metric feels better and will probably go back and start up her 3FC journal again one of these days and she enjoyeth that work break and can thusly spare the thread her demented fantasy life.

Jadcie: Hag doesn't know about a quick weight loss diet, don't really believe in them. Howsomever, one healthy plan I've seen recently is the Prevention Peanut Butter Diet. It's just adding a peanut butter theme to one of Prevention's always healthy eating and moderate exercise programs. The reason this comes to mind is that during the time Hag lost 100 pounds, whenever she was on a plateau, she'd add a daily two tablespoons of peanut butter to her diet (or just add more monosaturated fat). The Prevention plan specifies four tablespoons and they have neat recipes for using this. Processed peanut butter does have a trace of trans fat in it (not much) so that should be considered (natural peanut butter does not but it's not as good, IMHO). Also, the plan specifies that you should check your cholesterol with doc before and during and make sure it doesn't go up doing this; a few who participated in Prevention's trial did, though most did not. Other than these caveats, peanut butter is healthy for most people and satisfieds cravings. This was true for me, even before Prevention thought it thought it up!!!! :jig:

Another idea is to change your exercise program. Do less or more or do it faster or slower or do a different activity. Change the amount of food you eat, what you eat, what you do all day, etc. And be patient ... it WILL pass, so Hag hopes thou won't be tempted by a quick fix.

Anagram: I like it when you write about DH's good response to his health program. This IS encouraging and everytime one contemplates a person who has made and kept this committment (sp?) it is an encouragement to all. I do agree the slimfast can be very helpful and for long periods I don't have a problem with it, but think it hath become a Hagtrigger for me at the moment. Good idea about skipping Halloween night. Luckily, my neighborhood is so strange and SCARY, no one would trick or treat here anyway.

Hotsplashes: Thanks for reminding me about the muscle ... I think I have gained some and will continue to believe it will kick into my metabolism soon!!!! Sounds as though thou had a truly healthy turkey day and will have another in moderation. Congratulations!!!

And HAPPY THANKSGIVING (retrospectively) to all Canadian challengers!!!!

Woooooooo-hoooooo!!!!

Have to really work now, traveling for three days, will check in sometime!!!

Wooooo!!!

I WILL LOSE A POUND THIS WEEK!

Good morning everyone. The sun is shinning but my it is decieving, it looks nice out but at the moment the temp is 2 or 35 and the high today will be a whupping 8 or 45 so I think I will stay in and look out. I have finally picked up the cold that rest of my family had last week so Im better off to stay out of the cold anyway.
Im hoping to get some more work done around the house before the troups all start returning from the various weekend away. It has really been nice to have just the 3 of us here. This weekend is the first time in forever that I have slept in till 8 and I did that the last 2 days in a row my body will be in shock from it. Weigh in is tomorrow and even if I don't lose I know have been staying on program everyday with no slip ups so that is good no nmatter what the scale says. I'll check in tomorrow night after weigh in. Have a good day everyone.

Happy to hear Prevention is catching up with us, Hag. My plan for today included a (half) bagel w/peanut butter for lunch with a small apple. I had seen somewhere on tv several months back that pb helps weight loss (may even have been the Prevention study but don't remember that). I am a pb lover from way back and had never given up the occasional pb treat. I get real pb cravings as well as for tuna fish (I know I'm strange). So two of my favorite diet lunches are what I plan for today and also an open faced tuna melt (half a can of drained tuna on whole wheat toast with some cheese melted on it in the microwave. Of course then I usually have that one two days in a row to use up the other half of the can of tuna (albacore).

It must be the weather, I'm really hippety hopping today and that's the wrong holiday.

Just a short note today ladies...Is actual Turkey Day today! Poor Dollar lives in the frozen north...I live in Florida!lol Just kidding...it IS much warmer here tho...hi today of 65....

Bob's gal! Congrats! I wish I could lose that much all the time! you are very consistant!~

Anagram thou art lucky to have such a good hubby and such strong willpower...giveth away a whole basket of Chocolate...you are my new idol in the choclit dept.! Good work!

Jadcie...as Hagometric Sayeth...thou hast to shake up thy routine as the body eventually becomes used to the norm and needs a shock...Stayeth strong!! Thoust can do it!

Now about Peanut Butter...lol....I LOVE peanutbutter on Ritz crackers for a snack...it also helps with the sweets cravings...and as the Hagometric sayeth...the all natural tastes kinda bland compared to the processed stuff that has TONS O' SUGAR...which I really try to avoid...I find when I buy the natural stuff and I drain off the oil and add some honey it tastes MUCH better....just take a little bit...a few tablespoons full...put it in a small container and mix it really well with a small amount of honey...then use that for the day or for the next few days....always an idea....

Anagram...I too loveth the straight from the can tuna melts...cepteth I addeth a BIG slice of Tomato before I put on the cheese!

Have a wonderful day ladies...must go a prepareth the already stuffethed turkey breast from butterball!

HI all
just checking in im not sure how im doing weight wise. I ate alot this weekend....but the scale does not reflect it yet. So i am going to work out really hard this week. However im not doing step. Step killed me last week..pulled my hamstring. Oh well but better this week. Walked alot this weekend i hope maybe that is what made my weight maintain but we shall see.

Amarantha i think your doing awesome. If your clothing are lose it just means your holding on to water weight or the scale has not reflected your lose yet. Sometimes your body just needs to adjust the pounds. Go with how you feel. If you are feeling like your clothing are lose and you dont have heavy then i bet your doing everything right. Dont exercise yourself to where you hurt yourself and cant do it next week. I have done that ...so just increase your exercise like 5 more min or 10 depending on how you feel.:dizzy: Dont beat yourself up over 2lbs...its not worth getting down about it cause the weight will come off.

So i think im going to go up to the custume shop and see if they ahve the custume i need for holloween. Maybe wonderwoman here i come or spongebob square pants..the choices are endless..hehe.

Well i hope we all lose a pound this week! That would be great.

[COLOR=limegreen][SIZE=1]WOoooooOOOOOOooooooooooo-HooooooooooOOOOOooooo-Booooooooooooo!!!!!!!! Traveling but need to stay in touch with 3FC ... addicted obviously, no surprise there!!! Hagis be addicted to many (legal) things, elsewisze, why would she be afflicted with the BINGE DEMONS ... who came by yesterday to say: "WOOOOOO-HOOOO!!! But it was not so bad as last week!!!"

Scoobydooooooooooo!!! Thanks for your words, thou be wise!!! Hag really needs to keep the exercise gentle, but am really having a goal to go back to at LEAST jogwalking if not actually jogging by the end o' the year. I do feel I am doing well and know DEMON SCALE will catch up with me. At least I am stronger. Might I add that THOU, Scoooooooby, art doing fabulously thyownself!!! Step kills the knees, though (in my opinion), so thou art wise. Walking is such good exercise, bet you'll have a great weigh-in!!!

Anagram!!!! Thou dost not seem strange to the Hag ... pb and fish be yuUUUUUMY AND DELISH!!!! Hag needeth to shop this a.m. to stock hotel room with these thingies, thanks for reminder. Prevention be Hag's favorite "diet" guru ... seems to be a healthy approach with fun "diets" thrown in ... exercise moderately, eat healthy. There used to be a Prevention Millenium (sp?) Diet group on 3FC ... don't know if they are still doing it or posting ... I tried this and lost weight and it was a totally healthy plan ... but Hag doesn't really like vege, so ...

Hotsplashes!!! That's a good idea about draining the oil on natural PB and adding honey ... mmmmmmmm, Hagometric GREW UP on p'btr and honey sandwiches!!!! 'Course she did NOT limit to 4 T daily as the plan specifies, which is probably why she got heavy in the first place. I don't know where along the line p'btr turned into p'btr cups for her ... NOT THE SAME THING AT ALL!!! Hag will check the sugar in her beloved superchunky before purchasing and consider thy words!!!!

Dollar!!!! Sorry thou hast (hath?) a cold!!!! It is good thou got extra rest and stayed OP also ... likely thy weigh-in shall reflect that!! Have a great day!!!

To all Scary Halloween Challengers ... have a frightfully fun day ... Binge Demons stay away ... Binge Demons DON'T come & play ... are you gone, Binge Demons? ... YUP!!! HOOORAY!!!!

I seem to have lost yesterday's hippety-hop. Hit the wall last night early and haven't really perked up yet today. Storm coming our way and sometimes I think that does it. So gave my scary self permission to check posts instead of doing what must be done. dI know this feeling - it's one in which at one time, I'd have hit the fridge. But I can smell the good stew I'm making for dinner and figure I'll bide my time for that. So I'm just flitting from one itsy bitsy thing to the other. But itsy bitsy's must get done too.

Well i want to update my number on the roster. I am weighing in myself at 187. Everyone who asks me about my success i wind up telling them about this site and fitday.com. Both really great sites. So i want to thank you guys for the inspiration and the great attitudes on this forum! And on with our getting healthy!

So tonight im going out with a friend..i just need to eat low carbs and low fats. I find if i eat light at dinner it helps me feel better in the morning. Scale and not feeling bloated. I have to tell you i used to deal with the binge demon every single day....and i am just so happy that demon is not around me. Its a powerful demon thats for sure!

Amarantha, I'm glad your journal's back--I missed reading about your adventures! :D

Things are ebbing and flowing in my world---no full blown binges but no consistant stellar eating days either. I have it in me to exercise daily [and I do] and to put together a really healthy menu---so my problem has always been in my head. Why do I insist on sabotaging myself? Always just enough to keep me from my goal. Sometimes I wonder if it's even part of my belief system that I can really do this--reach my goal, I mean. I'm not feeling depressed or anything, just wondering 'out loud'.

My goal today is to eat well and count those calories. I'll check in with the "results" in my journal tonight!

BTW, Amarantha---those Go-Lean waffles you were asking abut are made by Kashi. They're very good, reasonable calories and a good hit of fiber too!

Have a healthy day, everyone!

Well, Hag - my hippity wasn't hopping too well this am but then I went to the Demon Scale. Today the Demon is masquerading as my friend as it showed a weight of 230.2, a loss even from yesterday. So needless to say that jumpstarted the old bod a little bit and the mind a lot more.

Since it's cold, wet and glum outside today, I needed something to brighten up the cottage and that sort of did it. I've burned my old pumpkin pie candle down to useless and will start today on what I think is a pumpkin muffin. A muffin anyway.

Congrats to all you great losers - those are some big numbers. Up, up and away, Broom!

HI all

Eydie well its awesome your not binging. And i do understand the self sabatoge. However you really need to figure out why you are doing that. I usually find myself sabtoging when im angry at myself. I usually call her my evil twin shmerisie...my nick name is shersie. She is the naughtiest which of all. When she comes out i know she is there and figure out what is she doing around. Then i put her back in her place. I like that i can recognize that she is around helps me from self sabtoging me.

JUST REMEMBER YOUR ARE THE BEST AND THE BEST DESERVES EVERYTHING YOU DREAM ABOUT. AND YOU DESERVE TO BE HAPPY. We all do. EXCEPT THE evil pounds that lay apon the scale.

I have been having sleeping problems as well..its been for a while now. I imagine its because my sleep apnea machine is not working since i lost alot of weight the preasure is not right. So i think possibly the apnea is waking me up. Oh well what can one do.

'ello all...

I'm home, and I'm sick - AGAIN! I woke up at 3am with a really sore throat - around 4:30am I thought "geez this really hurts, let's have a look" - ewww, a little white spot surrounded by a very red throat... Is this strep?? I guess I should call the doc.

So, anyway, I'm home - and I'm leaving again on Friday for a business trip, BACK to California, then home again on Sunday. I'm whooped...

Vacation was fun, too busy, but fun. Between running around getting ready for the houseboat trip and my *other* business meeting smack in the middle of my vacation, I don't feel like I got much resting done. My girlfriend's daughter brought a friend on the boat and that little girl did nothing but complain and whine the whole time, which was a pain, but after a few rum n' cokes I know *I* didn't care how much the kid complained... everyone agreed, she's NOT coming again. But we got a lot of swimming in, and pretty healthy food. We're planning on making this an annual event now!

Missed you all bunches, I feel completely out of the loop, but hopefully next week I'll get back on track. I did join Curves yesterday which I'm really excited about but now that I'm sick I may have to put off going until next week...

Aaaaah, I can't wait for NEXT weekend - I don't think I'm going to move from my recliner!

GOOOOOOOOD NEWS!!! Anagram hath had a breakthrough and is at 230.2!!! :cp: :cb: CONGRATULATIONS, Anagram!!! Roster update followeth!

Hag is heading out soon ... two stops to do some oral histories for one project, then a late meeting for employer before going home and that's good as Hag wisheth to stay there all the time now with Old Dog and Silly Cat!! :)

Punkin o' Friday, so glad thou be back, but sorry thou hast met with an evil Illness Demon and hast to go away again on a Friday trip (canst thou plead illness?) Please recount thy Curve adventures in future posts so we can get thy viewpoint. Thy posts are so descriptive ... I can see that whining child in my head right now!!!

Hope thou doesn't totally eliminate the kid from future consideration, though!! :) Sometimes Hag thinketh we all have that little whiner imbedded within us ... at least, Little Haggie beith with me always ... she's the one that saith, "I want; I need; I'm sad; no one loves me; EAT and it'll be the same thing as love!; EAT and you'll feel better; poor Haggie; I don't care who loves me but ice cream does; pay attention to me!; since you won't pay attention, I guess I'll have to EAT!; this is too hard, I need to EAT; since no one notices me, I might as well EAT ... etc." :cb:

Eydie!!! Thanks for thy journal comment! Amarantha The Amazing enjoys reading thine also ... haven't seen the Kashi waffles but they are bound to come to my area soon, as Kashi beith all over the place ... and a good thing, too! Please don't feel like the Lone Halloween Ranger in the self-sabotaging department ... sigh ... Amarantha is a master of this ... dunno why exactly either, though, some ideas occur to me. Something clicked today, though, and I think the Amazing Amarantha's Magical Transformation Trick will really happen. I know thy click will come soon ... I think you are right about about the "belief" ... I believe it is the single most important thing in any life change ... from my own experience with a major weight loss, I know that belief that it can be done is really what is meant by "THE CLICK!" The click has not been turned on in my head for a long time, but for some reason, this morning I heard it! There's no way to really manufacture it, it just comes from somewhere. When the click is on, the pattern of self-sabotage becomes unimportant (though it may reoccur from time to time)!!

Scooooooby! Sorry that the evil sleep apnea beith on thee again, but glad for the reason the machine must be readjusted (e.g., thou hast lost weight, which I have read is helpful in sleep apnea). Please see thy doc soonest, though, as sleep apnea is very serious, as thou knowest.

I myself (that is ungrammatical but I don't care) feeleth that those cute, fluffy dancing  be not so much evil as misunderstood! :dunno: Perhaps we should send them to a Pound Psychiatrist? Perhaps they need a new home? We could send them to the south of France for a looooooong vacation. We could book passage for them on a cruise ship to the North Pole (possibly Santa would take them in).

Hi
I know not eeryone is on more then one forum here so if I sound like Im repeating myself Im sorry. I just wonder if anyone else has discovered the samething I have. I no longer like the foods I use to. No sweats, greasy food or heavy sauces. I prefer the light foods with the natural tastes now. Not that this is a problem but I was just wondering about other people.

Lo and behold--a miracle! I feel that I've experienced the elusive click today. A shift in consciousness and I feel that I may be going into this journey with a little more of the old passion that I used to have--I actually feel excited about it all and that counts for a lot!
I know what I have to do physically, the diet and exercise part of it, now I have to work on the spiritual/mental aspects of it--only seriously this time and no fritzing around! I'll be 40 next May and one of my goals is to find some real peace with this by then. I talked about this with my best friend today and she wants to do this together so I'm excited about that too. I BELIEVE I can do it!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Thanks for the info. I just read that article as well in Prevention and peanut butter is a long time favorite of mine. Think I might try it. I am just getting bored with the same old foods and need some more variety I think. I feel so tired all the time. Maybe need to see doctor. I feel like I could sleep my life away. When I first started losing, I felt very energetic. Maybe the weather change has hit me. Well, Have a Great Skinny Day!!!!!

Well the weather change does make one tired and lathergic..its cold outside. However you are right check with the doctor! It could be physical or mental. I used to think mine was mental and it was sleep apnea which is both. I didnt sleep at all last nite...really nitemarish dreams...just freaky stuff. Means something is in the subconscious. i know what it is but i dont know what to do but leave it there. Its the only way i will not binge. Oh well...so this is not a happy post today.

However i am happy that i didnt binge and that i have a place to turn to;) And things will really be ok.

... and she's more amazing than ever!!! (She's also an egoist, but you'all knew that!) Hagometric had a long talk with Amarantha today by crystal ball and Amarantha feels the Amazing Transformation Magikal Trick being perfected by Amarantha will be the best ever. Amarantha hath made GREAT progress in working on this act and it is being well-received by audiences in all corners o' the globe. Amarantha hath (sigh) also retained Elberta Crone to be her personal bodyguard and cook on the road. The spa will miss Elberta (NOT!)!

Scooooooooby!!!! Hagometric hopeth thy nightmares hath not been caused by visiting the SCARY HUT IN THE SCARY HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE FOREST!!!! :) She hopeth thou remembereth that what is in the subconscious oft expends itself harmlessly in dreams ... no need to leave the scary stuff in there, though, and it beith good to post it out, talk it out (providing thou chooseth the right confident, as the wrong one can do harm), cry it out, exercise it out, work it out, think it out, and lastly SCARE it out with fantasy via writing or a good book!!!! Hag had occasion to stare at a Scooby-dooo cartoon yesterday and it's funny you brought up the subconscious, as the whole theme of the cartoon seemed to be Scooby being afraid to open up mysterious closets as everytime he did it, some scary thing was in there ... but his friend kept saying there was nothing to be afraid of and when HE opened the closets, they were just empty closets. Haggo thinketh mayhap our anxiety is like that much o' the time.

Oooppps, Haggo beith rambling ... ok, focusing again. Meaning to say, congratulations on banishing the Binge Demons ... feel happy! :cb:

Jadcie: I've been doing the peanut butter thing and it's AMAZING how filling one tablespoon is ... don't think I want to go to FOUR a day as the plan suggests, as calorwise, it's not a bargain. Was also reading Sue Grafton's newest mystery on my trip (have read 'em all) ... and her detective heroine eats peanut butter and pickle sandwiches ... remember that was another of my childhood favorites and think I may try it again ... I wonder if satisfying these inner child cravings will help to conquer the Binge Demons? :cb:

EYDIE!!!! I am so happy for you that you've heard THE CLICK!!! It's good you have a friend to travel a bit down the road with on the journey!!! Thou WILL succeed because THOU believest!!! The click is in!!! :wizard:

Dollar: Repeat thyself to thy heart's content!!! To answer thy question, I've experienced what you speak of regarding an improvement in the foods I desire, although I continue to revert to bad habits again and again. Someday I may even crave broccoli, but I doubt it! Still, I know I used to eat lots more saturated fat, even though I was a vegetarian, and now, eating meat, I crave lighter and healthier fats. I'm cultivating a taste for olive oil. I like it with herbs and bread to dip in. It seems as though healthy fat is some kind of key to my control and I'm working it out now. Interesting question you ask. Not sure if I answered or rambled!!! :)

To all: HAVE A FRIGHTFULLY GOOD OP DAY!!!!!

My eating was good today..i think. It felt like i ate alot but didnt. Im not execising today kind of feel really tired. Cant sleep at nite scared. Will my diet be ok if i dont exercise. I am finishing up with a cold. Im scared im screwing up my diet. Should i feel this way? I can really go to the gym. If i lose weight my diet is still working right? I didnt exercise yesterday nor today however i did mall walk in the afternoon, but is that enough. Well i dont know what to think. Sorry for such a self absorb post.

Hey Scoobysnacks you have a right to be self absorb. you recieved news that we all hope we will never get, hang in there and you and your mom will get through this. Of course exercising will help your weight loss but if you can't do it everyday and you stick with your diet it will still work.
Shortly after starting my diet a few months I guess i was in a car accident and my walking stopped for the entire summer. I still haven't managed to get it back to where it was because my daughter walked with me and now she is back in school so im alone with my son and grandson most evenings. I find after working taking care ofthe house and meals I have a hard time getting in extra walking I do try tomwalk the dog everyday but right now with my cold Im not up to it. am I still losing you bet.
Stick with your diet and stay away from the bad stuff you will feel better for it and you will have the energy to help your mom through this.

I'm still feeling kinda icky with the cold and all but other than that...I'm doing ok! I get to sleep in tomorrow!!!!!!1 YAYYYYYYYYY

That is great you didn't go off your diet because of the stress thing good job. This nasty cold sucks doesn't it. I thought I was going to get off easy with just a stuffy head, oh no that couldn't happen, now I have the nasty cough to go along with it and when does it bother me mostly when Im sleeping. [COLOR=blue][SIZE=1]Scooby, you DO have a right to be self-absorbed, though, I'd say you aren't, just sharing important news. I am sorry about your mother's diagnosis, but glad that it is early stage and she will be ok. Still, this is a bad shock and resting, in my opinion, is the best thing you can do for your body. You need to stay strong for your mom, so keeping your body healthy is very important now. No way does it hurt to rest and skip exercise ... in fact it increases fitness and enhances your diet by giving healing time to all those little muscle fibers, plus your mind and spirit. Maybe it's time for a change of exercise for awhile ... slow walks with your mom or tai chi or yoga instead of the gung ho gym stuff? Good luck to you and your mom and you are to be congratulated on the eating management during this time.

Hotsplashes: Congratulations to you for dumping your toxic boss! It IS a stressful thing to do but in the long run, it'll pay off. (I know, I've done it lots of times!) No one should stay in a position where they are extremely unhappy or uncomfortable, in my opinion, it just isn't worth it. Congrats also for NOT BINGEING after quitting! :strong:

Dollar: Sorry you've developed a cough to go with your cold! Sounds like it's time to drink even more water ... or some new exotic herbal tea with a touch of honey? Get well soon!!!

Hagometer lost a whole day's work yesterday when brake job took four hours and THEN the leasing van driver backed into Hag's car in the lot after it was pulled up for her to leave. Hag had just gotten into the car ... it was still in park and the van hit it and the driver tried to blame it first on Hag ... who hadn't done ANYTHING and then on the dealership because she said they had parked it ILLEGALLY. When told this was just where the dealership always pulled the cars up for people to leave, the driver said, "Well, that's not a LEGAL parking space!" Anyhow, the leasing company is paying to have it fixed and for a rental car, but there's more time the fragmented, scattered Hag is going to lose on deadline this week.

Speaking of deadlines makes Hag wonder about Babette/Arabella! Hope she is out there and ok and will post soon and let us know.

The creeping crud has loosened its evil grip... I woke up at 2am sweating and this morning I don't feel like the walking dead! :cb:
I'm all packed up and ready for the 2nd trip to CA in a week.

Scooby - I'm sorry to hear about your Mom. Thankfully they caught it early though - be thankful! My Mom went through a double biopsy 3 years ago and it was the most frightening thing I've been through (thankfully her results were negative). Take good care of yourself and give Mom lots of love!

Hotsplash - Good for you!!! Walking out of your job is scary but when it's got to be done, it's got to be done!! Hope you're feeling better soon!

Amarantha - I'm sorry for your car's boo-boo! How awful of them to try to blame you (or how RUDE of them!!). Hopefully it will be fixed quickly and life will get back to normal soon.

Here's to hoping next week is a great one!!

I heard you calling, Amarantha! Has been a wildly busy time, painting and associated work, MIL visit , hosting a couple of huge parties -- not to mention WORK  I worked 14 hours yesterday, ten of them in super-intensity high-pressure work. Almost decided to give up on that, thinking that I don't need the stress :stress: but then I decided that if I master it t'will be much less stressful. I had kind of an off week, diet-wise, but am getting my head and body together again.

Sounds like a v. stressful accident yesterday - The NOIVE of them, trying to blame it on you! Hope they'll make up for your lost time, too...

Hotsplashes, congrats on quitting your job. Such a scary and brave step to take! My son has been working in a job where he felt morally compromised - said he felt like he was selling his soul off in little bits - but had no other job prospects. This week he started a new job in technical support, where he can help people, makes more money and has more room for advancement. I'm so happy for him! Good luck to you in finding the perfect job!

Dollar, take it easy - get some R&R. I think that when you just feel a little bit off, sometimes you can recover much more quickly if you give your body a break.

Punkin, glad you're feeling better. And have a fantastic time with your friends in CA! ( I know you will!) :cb:

Scooby, sending good thoughts for you and your mom. Glad they caught it early. These things are very unsettling. I find as my mother gets older and less healthy I am on some level preparing myself for the inevitable. She went on a leaf-peeper tour with MIL last week, and I was almost sobbing after I dropped them off at the bus. The whole thing - a busload of seniors going on a voyage - had so much metaphorical resonance.

Eydie, congrats on hearing the click. I get little ones from time to time, but need a really big cllick to get my rear in gear! Maybe I just have to listen harder? Any more thoughts on the labyrinth?

Jadcie, are you getting enough protein? I remember when I was going very low-fat and high carb (good carbs, tho) I felt tired all the time and hungry too. I read something about changing the balance to more moderate fat, more protein and fewer carbs and I felt immediately better, and less hungry to boot.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone! :cb:

Babett wow that was such a spirtual thing you said about the voyage. My parents are 62 and its hard to view them as old cause you know they are my parents. The ones who took me softball practice drove all there kids around weekends. Im not a parent but it must be really hard being one. I look back on how much work my parents put into and amazed. I dont know how they kept there energy going. I ask them know and they dont know how they did it either...but they are happy the did.
I really liked that line about the voyage...

Well, rather than start work on the school BORED, Haggie thought she'd just pop in here and here everyone is!!!!

Scooby, I'm glad you feel better but that you are crying, too, as that's the best way to cope sometimes. Good for you for planning a workout, if not tonight, then soon.

Babette/Arabella!!! Knew you were out there in deadline land. Thou be better than Hag, as she can't seem to work those 14 hours days as she used to. She is searching for a quiet, nonwriting career for her declining years! :jig:

Thy image of seniors leaving on a journey made me sad, but in an ok way. It reminded me of "Cocoon" (sp??), where seniors escaped the stereotypical roles devised for them on earth and flew off to start a new life on another planet. Truly, I hate, hate, hate, the stereotyping of "seniors" ... even hate that word, actually. Change is inevitable as long as we are alive, but the journey has surprises and challenges along the way for everyone, whatever their age. So I like the idea of getting on a bus, or a spaceship, or just getting out of bed in the morning, and following the path wherever it leads. Thanks for the idea! :)

Punkin o' Friday!!!! It's Friday and thou art all better! :cp: :cb: Sorry you have to go back to CA but methinks the crystal ball says it'll be a GREAT and FUN trip!!!! For some reason, I thought you were going today, but glad you are here (in the virtual sense). I am continuing to look at job ads in the northwest ... thinking, thinking, thinking! Maybe, someday!

Hmmmm. Now I can occupy myself looking at journals for a sec, then back to school bored.

Have a frightfully fun rest o' the day, Halloweeners!!! :fr: :yikes:

Thanks everyone for the well wishes, it seems like I have done nothing the last couple of days but take it easy. I do however forget that I have been taking care of a 2 yr old and 11 yr old making meals lunches and clean up from the meals. I think I will go to bed early tonight since I start my 7 day stretch at work tomorrow so i better get the rest while I can. I think Im feeling a little better just tired from not sleeping well because of the cough.
I have managed to stay on programe today and Im drinking gallons of water, with this cough that can be dangerous, got to make sure the path between me and the bathroom stays clear. Anyway Im rambling now. My evening should be quiet, my daughter is home now to take care of her son, she has been gone since Wed so things will be easier. Everyone take care.

good evening everyone,
Im feeling better today my cough isn't nearly as bad. The weather here really sucks and Im starting to feel it in my knees but that is ok it will go away once the weather dries up a bit, if it ever does. Well I made some choices today that surprised me. I asked everyone what they wanted for dinner tonight and I got answer like pizza and fries with gravy from my hubby and hot dog and fries from the kids. So I picked the stuff up when I went for groceries and had to decided what I was going to have. I bought some mixed salad greens, an acorn squash small one and I went to the butcher and bought 1 pork chop big enough to get 2 meals out of. So I had my meal well after them and I had 6oz of pork chop sauteed mushrooms, salad, 1 potato and half the squash, needless to say I was stuffed and really enjoyed my meal. As for hubby and his pizza and fries with gravy I could have had my meal twice for the same number of points his meal cost him.
I felt pretty good about those choices because I could have said oh I'll just have the pizza, I know Im much more satisfied and I won't need anything else for the rest of the day.

Good for you, Dollar, in being able to sidestep pizza and fries with gravy. It tok you a little more work, but the pride you must feel in yourself and your ability and determination must feel well worth it!!!

Hago isn't doing as well. The Saturday Binge Demons have been and gone and hope for the much-vaunted weigh-in wanes! Oh, well! I'll lose a pound NEXT week! Or maybe a kindly :wizard: will stop by and I'll squeak by!!

Time marches on! Don't feel well after those BDs hit the hut! Gotta rest.

WARNING: ANOTHER ME, ME, ME POST! Sigh!

Well, it be like this, the development of Amazing's fantastic Transformation Trick has passed its first milestone. Amarantha, having heard THE CLICK, has been practicing THE TRICK (no treats, good eats)!!! She hath lost a pound this week!!! She will lose a pound a week until she reacheth her ultimate goal of 135 pounds!!! But firstly, she will lose another pound next week to reach her (revised) Scary Halloween Challenge goal. Perhaps someone will post a Thanksgiving and/or Christmas Challenge and she will take these on also. Amarantha hath now THE CLICK, the MAGIC TOUCH!!! She CANNOT FAIL in any challenge she accepts (weight-wise, anyhooooo)!!!

Hag is on vacation, so Elbertine Pep will post a roster update! Here also is a statement o' Amarantha's stats that she posteth on her journal also today. Oddly enough, they match Haggie's stats exactly. Very odd:

Starting Weight of Transformation Challenge: 166.5
Current Weight: 165.5
Transformation Challenge Pounds Lost: 1 :cp:
Highest Weight Ever Recorded: 247
Lowest Weight in Adulthood: 101 (Too Low)
Lowest Weight Since Major Weight Loss Intiative Approx. 5 Years Ago: 142
Pounds Gained Back: 24.5 :nono:
Scary Halloween Challenge Goal (revised): 164.5
Ultimate Goal: 135

Amarantha's Amazing Motto and Magic Spell: I WILL LOSE A POUND THIS WEEK! I WILL LOSE IT WHEN I SLEEP; I WILL LOSE IT WHEN I SPEAK! I WILL LOSE A POUND THIS WEEK!!!

I also must apologize for the 'it's all about me' post. I've been so remiss in responding to everyone and I'm sorry about that and will remedy it soon. All of you are really dear to me!

I've been doing some heavy journal work and am finally coming to grips with a lot of childhood issues that aren't pleasant at all but have to be looked at if I'm going to be really healthy and stay true to the vision of what I want my life to be. And I'm sure beyond all doubt that this is the source of my weight problem; I know this is the missing link--because I'm clear on the food/ exercise thing---it's my head that needs work. And I think with this last "click" I feel strong enough to face down all the old demons.

Good Morning all.
We are startinfg a new week and it is going to be a good one RIGHT!!!! That is my pep talk for the day.
It is 731am and I have my lunch all packed for work today. I worked all weekend but it was a very productive weekend at work so I should get plenty of work done the rest of the week. Of course working in a Nursing Home you just never know what is going to happen from day to day. Have a great day all.

Let's go into the (U.S.) Thanksgiving Season STRONG STRONG STRONG ... Canadians have already exemplified true focus and dedication in their Thanksgiving celebration ... they could repeat that and join us downunders in another healty and focused foodfest season.

Eydie: Hag thinketh no one feeleth they have to be answered as speaking for Hag, it be always just a pleasure to have thee in the room!!!! She thinketh thou hast hit the weight loss nail on the head by realizing it IS the head that's the crux o' the matter. Good luck on thy continuing journey!!!

Ooooh, it's good to be home!!!!

I had a good meeting, and great last visit of the year with my friends in CA. I got home and almost dropped to kiss my front deck - I'M HOME!!!!!!!! With nowhere to go until next year....:cp:
The drive home was hellish - rain, hail, wind... but, I don't have to do it again until NEXT YEAR!!!!! :cb:

I am running after, and jumping happily back on the wagon. Now that I'm back on the wagon, I think I'll do a little jig... :cb:
Oooh, I miss healthy food!! For the last 3 weeks I've done fast food, restraunts and "sick people" food (aka mashed potatoes, pudding and comfort foods). And the scale showed it - up 6 pounds  I fear not, I do not weep on my scale, no, I see this as a fresh start. I haven't been drinking all my water, my choices have been so-so (vs. the "what the ****" attitude of the past) and to be honest, I don't believe all 6 pounds are of the fluffy variety since traveling and eating out constantly does "things" to my body ifyouknowwhatImean....

Today is my first weigh/measure day at Curves and my first day of attendance!!! :spin: I'm SO excited!!!!

Amarantha - You'd move??? Oooooh, it would be so incredible to meet you! And the Bend Bulletin could use you!!

Dollar - I'm glad you're feeling better - that's some bug isn't it??

Eydie - I agree, sometimes the "issues" have to be dug up. We know this healthy stuff, and sometimes it's biological as to why we keep the weight on - but what about the psychological reason?? I discovered too that there was a reason to my weight - why I'd want to keep up that "protective coating". Major breakthrough.... Congrats on yours and take care of you while you're doing this inner searching, ok?

Scooby - How are you doing? I agree with Amarantha that it's good and healthy that you're able to have a good cry. AND that you're also relying on exercise for some stress relief! Bravo!

Ok, time to get to work....

Feeling good today. Went to the gym in the morning cause i just dont have the motivation to go at nite anymore. Its the not sleeping thing probably.

Well i weighted myself today and im down to 184. YAY YAY YAY.
however i did have a jelly donut...yesterday. It was tasty and worth it. So im actually changing my halloween goal to 180. Im not reallly sure i can hit it...but why not aim high. What do i have to lose..hopefully WEIGHT..hehe.

Well dollar thats awesome that you had the power to avoid the pizza. That is a hard one! Thats great that had the strenght..you should feel really proud of yourself.

Eydie...we are all here for ourself and each other. You add significance with your stories. Cause we can all relate. So dont apologize about anything! We are here to help you not make you feel guilty.

Deadline but really almost done!!! Hagometer needeth to post here often to reinforce her scary holiday spirit. Since declaring the Pound a Week Transformation Challenge on her journal, Amarantha hasn't been around much to talk to pooooor Haggie about the SCARY HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE!!! Hag be motivated by the holiday challenges and keeps looking at the little fall scarecrow doll figure she bought when starting this challenge and she thinketh ... hmmmm, that'll do nicely, thankee, for a Thanksgiving Goal Ghoulie as well. :chin:

Punkin o' Friday!!! It be Monday and thou be home at last, thanks be!!! :balloons: Amarantha doest know what thou means by too much restaurant food, etc. ... it's odd (speaking only for Amarantha, not meaning anyone else) how one goes on binges and/or eats too much bad food when really it is good, moderate eating habits that make us feel better all day long and that help us reach the goals we say we want. Why does Amarantha do that? :chin:

Scooby!!! Thou deserveth a jelly donut!!! THOU BE DOWN THREEEEEEEEE POUNDS!!!! That's fantastic!!!! :cp: :cb: :cp: And good for thee for going to gym in the morning ... thy consistency is paying off! Hagometer will update thy loss and thy goal ... keep a'going, Scooooobydobeedo!!!! :jig:

Back to work for Hago!!!

P.S. Hago does know that "it's" is a contraction for "it is" and not the possessive form of "it." She typeth it incorrectly in the above post and it takes to long to go back and edit.

Hmmmm, also ... rereading posts, she must clarify that she is not going on vacation anytime soon. Sigh. Howsomever, she is looking at all the openings in Oregon and Washington State. Punkin, thou is kind to say the Bend paper needeth Hago!!!! Too bad they don't see it your way!!! :jig: :)

Amarantha... did I ever tell you about the Bend Bulletin HUGE headline when those miners in Pennsylvania were trapped? The headline read: Minors Are Trapped!

Hmmm :chin: I thought they were all over the age of 18....

Our paper needs at least a proof reader desperately! (and to quit relying on spell-check alone)

One other thing I forgot to mention... I know, with all my heart I will not make my Halloween Challenge - too much travel, illness and injury I'm afraid... Today is my first day at Curves, so I intend on whoopin' some Turkey Time Challenge butt!!
So, if no one minds, I'll be hangin' my witchy head, humbly hanging out here and be witness to all of your successes! Call me the resident cheerleader :bravo:

I'm looking forward to getting back on track and participating more in the next challenge...

:lucky: Terri

Amarantha2

Punkin! I do think you mentioned the "minor" fiasco! Sheesh! They DO need me. Spell check's ok as a finishing touch, but you gotta "think, think, think," too. But I've done worse things. Once I put the wrong date on a paper and not only was it the wrong date, but it was a date that didn't exist that year. Only one elderly gentleman called to tell me about it. "You've projected us into the future," he complained! :jig:

Punkin, hast thou not seen Amarantha's REVISED challenge goal!? :cb: See thou, this be the thing that's cool about computers ... we can CHANGE what we put in here!!! So thou can simply CHANGE thy goal for this last week ... if it be thy pleasure ... but Hagatha understandeth whatever a person wants is what they want so no pressure to do otherwise ... or something like that (brain-dead Hag just got off deadline and hath no more ability to form cogent sentences ... not that she ever did) ... anyhow, I'm NOT taking thee off the roster, but can change it if thou desire!!

I feel thou will get back on track (though it be a CURVED track! :cb:) and that is what is important. I like your name for the Turkey Time Challenge ... mayhap thou wouldst post that thread when thou feeleth ready (if thou desireth)!!! :dunno:

Amarantha is now strangely starving but not in danger of breaking her caloric limit and no Binge Demons seem about. After midnight, she will have a snackie as is her custom!!! She counteth these snackies on the next day's caloric tally and they help if no Binge Demons are on the premises.

Hope no one minds Amarantha speaking about herself in the third person or putting "th" after every other wordeth. She finds herself doing this in emails now. She just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

Everyday in every way I'm getting slimmer and slimmer.

Ok, rambling now. Bye!!!!

Still veeeeery sleepy but hopping on broom for evil out-o'-town trip but the TRICK is to turn it all around and NOT make it an evil trip. Gonna enjoy the sights and even buy food at convenience stores 'cause have no time to prepare BUT continuing the ban on slimfast and dulce de leche, the Evil Trigger Twins!!! Determined to exercise and post here and on journal (done) before I go, as 3FC hath becometh a point o' focus for the ol' scattered Hagomatic!!!!

Hotsplashie: Duly noted about the bootstraps!!! Good job in getting a bit more sleep and focusing on thy goal. Cornflakes sound good, though. Hago wants some now!!! :jig:

To All: Let's keep hearing from ALL the SCARY TEAM here goblettes!!! We've gotta keep up the HOCUSPOCUSFOCUSFOCUS until the Scary Eve itself. Doesn't matter if we reach our goals (honestly, it doesn't) just that we REPORT, REPORT, REPORT and FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS and keep eyes on the prize, stay on the ball, prepare for the wonderful life we'll have as slim folk in the future!!!! "Rah!!!" "Yay, Team!!" "Let's go, let us know!!"

Remember the Law o' Scary Challenges, as interpreted by Hag, who hath contacted the Calorie Police and is SURE about this being legal: Thou can change anything on thy challenges UP to Halloween itself as long as thou beith intentioned to GIVE IT A GOOD OL' SCARY COLLEGE CHALLENGE TRY!!!!

Woooooooo-hooooooooooo!!! Bye!!! Come back all absent folkettes!!! Quick posties welcome (only if thou feel liketh it, though, no bad vibes if thou doesn't ... we LOVE all absent folks equally and worry about their goneness!!!!!)

9 days from the end of the challenge!!!!! :fr:

Amarantha - Ok, I'll take you up on changing my challenge - it's going to be hard since post-travel weight for me is hard to figure, but I'll go with what the scale said (which is up an unbelieveable 6 pounds). Currently I'm 238.5 so by next Thursday I'd like to be at 237...
Ick, can't believe I'm revisiting the 230's :stress:
Enjoy your outta town excursion - come back soon!!

My first Curves measure/weigh was really interesting. Their body fat measurer said I have 106 pounds of fat to loose - how disgusting is that????? My measurements were no shock, I still am shaped like an upside down triangle. Had a great time with my first work out and it felt really, really good to sweat!

Hotsplash - Congrats on pulling yourself back up! Halloween is always the most difficult time for me too because of all the bite size chocolate goodies out there. They make them too easy to sneak, snack and over indulge. One of these days I'll realize that it's probably smarter to just avoid them all together than thinking I can honestly "control" myself and just have 1 or 2 pieces.

Regarding the Turkey Time Challenge - I'd be honored to start that thread next week!! :chicken: (ok, it's a chicken, work with me here).

Ah Hag - this is an old Crone checking in - no time for a long post but have been enjoying my lurking time. Will post more tomorrow after Demon Scale and I have our weekly rendezvous.

Crone is feeling fierce and strong. Though I admit to the usual number of indiscretions, I had a "chance" meeting with DS this a.m. and DS did not seem as frightening as usual.

I will lose a pound this week, I will lose a pound this week - oops, I think I'm plagiarizing from a famous author.

Hello just checking into today. Not haveing the best day. Finding it difficult going to the gym and eating to much food. I hate the snack mix stuff....someone brought a big bag in from bj wholesales and its been just calling me to the table today. I am definely struggling today but i guess thats what we have tomorrow to look forward to...a brighter day. I know the fight is never over.

I must i must i must decrease my bust , tummy, thighs, and everything else..hehe

Hag when are you leaving?

Pumpkin seed: glad your back in the race and you have true motivation...so you get your 237. No doubt in my mind you woulnt.

Hi anagram....yes that women is a famous author and very silly.

Hello everyone,
It has been a great day, I weighed in today and Im down 3lbs. wooooo hooooo that puts me at the 70lb mark which is the mini goal I had set for myself. My next mini goal is 199 can I do it by next week I don't know since I have lost 5.6 in the last 2 weeks Im just not sure but that is ok. I set my halloween challenge at 198, the minor set back afew weeks ago has slowed that down but Im so pleased about that it just doesn't matter that I will not get the 198 next week because I know that in a short time I will.

Ick. Barring divine intervention, I am extremely unlikely to make Halloween challenge. On to Thanksgiving, I say! I had an ugly binge day before yesterday, and am rallying my forces to get it together again. Don't want to keep falling back -- Where's my CLICK??? It be a scary pre-Halloween morning!!!!! Yayyyyy! Pumpkins on the vine everywhere (ok, they are made of paper because you can't GROW pumpkins in this climate)!!!! Hag got sick on business trip and drove home over 100 miles o' desert highway, being ill every 10 miles. Feel tenatively fine now, though! Need a few days off!!!! :tired:

Punkin!!!! Glad thou hast planned the Turkey Time Challenge!!! Woooooo-hooo! Hago is gonna kick some serious Turkey Time ***!!!!! Thy little chicken, er, turkey be very cute!!!! Glad thou enjoyest Curves! I can't find one here anymore ... the one they had was gone. Hago knows thy will suceed in thy Curvequest!!!! :jig:

Babette/Arabella: The Hagometer beith busy staring in the crystal ball the other day and CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? ... off in the distance she heard a sound. (I know she was LOOKING in the ball, but sounds come through also). She cocked her head and listened and listened as the sound got LOUDER and LOUDER until finally she could discern the sound of words spoken on the wind. AND WHAT DO YOU THINK THOSE WORDS WERE? (wait for it!) The words were: "I AM BABETTE'S CLICK!!!! I AM BABETTE'S CLICK!!!!!" Then the sound veered off north in the direction o' Canada and Hag heard no more. Probably it'll arrive in thy area VERY SOON!!! Keep an ear out!

Dollar!!!!!!!! :bravo: THOU HAST SENT A WHOLE GAGGLE O' PACKING TO THE  RETIREMENT HOME THIS WEEK!!!!!!! Three pounds is great, Dollar! You WILL make your minigoal next week!! That was in the crystal ball, too! :cb:

Scooooooooby: I remember that "I must, I must, I must increase my bust" line from Laverne & Shirley (ok, I'm NOT dating myself, I COULD have seen it on reruns!!!)! Too funny! I like your reversal of it!!! Don't be sad about having a struggling type day and not feeling like the gym ... just fight it a little bit at a time ... have a bite or two of snack mix or whatever those Office Food Demons bring in today! Sip water! Have a bite more and enjoy watching all your workmates pack in calories while thou hast enjoyed a bite but remaineth relatively unassaulted by the Binge Demon. Rest from the gym and take a SLOW walk or buy a Pilates tape and do 10 minutes only, then stretch and lie flat in thy exercise space ... if family members think thy look odd doing this, tell them thou hast heard a CLICKING noise and thou is listening for it!!!! Be kind to thyself!!!! Getting fit and healthy is supposed to be FUN! Enjoy!! Improvise!!! Ok, Hag will stop lecturing now!!! Bye! :soap:

Anagram Crone!!!!! Hooooooray!!! Thou hast returned from Lurkdom Land! Glad thou be feeling FIERCE!!!! :strong: Gotta be that way to fight all the demons that plague us Fitness Folk! Weakness 'R Us NOT!!!!! :strong: Plagarize at thy pleasure ... I do it all the time!!! :jig:

Hagometer shall make all changes on roster, which if thee alleth remembereth is scratched on her murky hut wall with charcoal from the fire on which the burning cauldron still bubbleth!!!! Booooooooooo-bye!!!!!
