Reposting here. Hopefully someone can give me some tips to consider.
I am not sure which bands to get. Handles, no handles, 1 color, different colors? I currently use 4# weights. I do not want to be ripped, cut, sculpted or any of the other descriptors currently used. I just want a nice workout for my muscles and an alternative to my free weight.

If you look in Walmart there are some bands there. I just bought the simple pink one (for Breast Cancer) with the handles.
I would get the one with the handles, probably medium strength if they have strength differences. But you can always step on the band if the strength is not enough for you or the handles are too far apart.
You can't really go wrong with getting any one with handles I think. I think mine was $10.
I found a pair of bands at Walmart for $15 by Golds Gym. What I liked about them, was they came with 3 bands you can hook onto handles. Black is most resistance, blue is medium and red is easiest. Furthermore, you can combine the bands or hook all three onto the handles for even more resistance.
I am new to bands and they came with a dvd with a 30 minute workout. They are cheap, but if I didn't like them I hadn't lost much. I really want to invest and buy the expensive ones by bandlastic...
