Here we go again remember fat club that provoked a lot of chat here as I remember! Well celebrity fit club starts next week. Anne Widdecombe,Colleen Nolan, Rik Waller etc are taking part. I saw this on annanova -
RIK Waller has been told he must lose weight or face dying at 40.
The former Pop Idol contestant is taking part in ITV's new series of Celebrity Fit Club, and has been told he has to lose 17 stone.
He was shocked to find he weighed 31 stone when he stepped on the scales at the start of the show.
The ten-part series begins on ITV on September 27 and also features celebrities including Ann Widdecombe, Ground Force's Tommy Walsh, Coleen Nolan and Family Affairs' Nicola Duffett.
"I haven't stood on the scales for years and I didn't know how much I weighed," Rik told the Sun.
"It's been tough. I've had stops and starts, a few triumphs and a lot of tragedies.
"The first month I lost 11 pounds, the next I lost a stone but in the third my body did somersaults and I put on nine pounds.
"I had a slip-up. I can't say when, why or how but it just sneaked up on me. A bit of me has always wanted to diet for health reasons but if I'd have known what it involved I don't think I'd have been too enthusiastic. It has been difficult."
Fitness instructor Harvey Walden added: "Rik wants everything given to him on a plate. This is the one time in his life where he needs to do it for himself.
"He's been doing the wrong thing for years, that's why he's fat and unhealthy. He needs to change but I'm not holding my breath."
Yes Harvey is still pig

Now there is someone who doesn't need to lose weight Frank Skinner! Did you see Will on his show?
I'll book the time right now! This will be right up my alley - academically and professionally. Is Harvey capable of making real differences in obese individuals??? We'll know by Christmas!!!
Fat Club didn't give me time to evaluate him properly. I can't decide whether he is a monster or a truly concerned individual with a certain 'style'!!! I know my customers need a bark and a bite every now and then, but I wouldn't keep them with Harvey's attitude as seen on Fat Club!!
So we'll have to have another HUGE thread to accomodate all the OMG DID YOU SEE THAT!!??? posts! :judge: :yikes:
Stef - still no weight loss, but a new pair of trousers looms (size 16????)

I love fat friends. This week I felt like shouting at Val that although he is an escort he isn't sleeping with the women, it's just his job to take them out and make them feel special and then when she set Lauren up to go out with him on a professional basis it was hilarious.
I know I need to go get a life ...........

I haven't yet seen Celebrity fat club as I was watching something on the other side (I think). However, I really like Fat Friends. I love Kelly! I think she is great! I alsways make sure I watch it.
It was on again last night (repeat) and I think it is on again tonight on ITV2 at 9.00pm
I think it is really good, but you notice different from when they were using the public, they were allowed to weigh in clothes not swimsuits and the camera did not pan on their wobbly bits!
Can you just imagine AW agreeing to be weighed in a swimsuit, I certainly wouldn't like to be the one to ask her hehe!

Am looking forward to this week. Think Rik finds out how much he weighs - not sure if we get let on in the secret, I wouldn't want the nation knowing how much I weigh, unless I was about 10 and a half stone that is.
I think the woman in Emmerdale looks lovely, she suits her weight. She said she has gained about 1.5 stones since joining Emmerdale, but I think she is one of these people who wouldn't suit being thin. I hope she doesn't try to lose too much

There was an interview with Colleen Nolan in the mail on sunday and it said Rik was 30 stone. I would imagine he is too cos he is very tall. I wish them all well:)

I thought Colleen looked fine before. Rik is tall bound to be over the 20 stone he thought.

Ohmigod! How much does that Rick weigh? He is deluding himself if he does not want to know how much he weighs. Everyone else knows!
I actually thought Ann Widdicombe looked less like DOris Karloff since she dyed her hair blonde. She has obviusly lost some weight before the programme. She has less chins now. Must have lost it before doing this.
I was suprised at Tommy that big builder type drinking pints of ...Baileys??!!! You big Girl!

Less humiliating than "Fat club" innit? but then that's maybe why they've decided to call it "Fit" club instead....
Keep waiting for Rik Waller to collapse with a heart attack, and I hate to say it I love Ann Widdicombe's attitude! She makes me laugh. donno why I ended up watching it again after fat club, and I still don't reckon it'll have any lasting effect on any of them!:dizzy:

I am thoroughly enjoying celebrity fit club. Ann Widdicombe would make a good comedienne. Some of them don't look like they need to lose weight though. Rik Waller seems to be doing ok with his weight loss.
Not had a chance to catch the latest series of fat friends but did enjoy the first series. although i think thats what put me off attending ww meetings.

Was quite impressed with the last celebrity fit club, have only seen the first one and the last one tonight.
They spent a majority of the program showing us how the celebs had improved on their fitness and they spent some time giving us facts and figures about what they could do when they started and what they can do now.
Was impressed that they didn't just measure them on weight loss - suppose that was why it was called fit club and not fat club. But they did have the scales for the big finale.
I even clapped at the telly for Tommy Walsh and Ian (weather man) Tomo seems to have the right attitude as well, as he is (was) determined not to let the old Tomo back in. Was surprised at how light Anne Widdecombe is, 9 stone something - how tall is she, 3 feet ?
Think Rik let himself down badly, he knew what he was getting involved in when he signed up and lets be honest he needs to do something about his weight before it kills him. You'll always be made welcome here Rik, we won't make you follow a strict eating plan or an exercise regime.
Anyway, 3 cheers from me to the celeb fit club tv team, who came up with all those fitness statistics.
One down side though, how daft did they look when they refused to eat lunch before the weigh in - come on get a life, it is only one small meal in 6 months, it wasn't really going to make a difference if they had stuck to the plan.
Getting off my high horse now.
I have just watched it, too. I love Ian McGasgill, sorry, sir, if I spelt that wrong...I think he showed tremendous guts and tenacity throughout. If only more people had his attitude to life in general.
Mr. Waller, however, I think behaved extremely badly and like a two year old having a long tantrum.I was glad in a way that he left as he must have made things very difficult for everyone. A shame though that he weighs that tremendous amount and seems incapable of changing:?: You could see through his plan two weeks ago when he refused to be weighed. He was going to lose weight in the last two weeks by starvation methods and still come away with a credible loss. I am glad the experts didn't fall for it.
Well done to everybody on that excellent series....and I was pleased to see Mr. ex-marine motivator crack a smile at the end! Well done sir!

*swoon* Harvey smiled last night
I was really impressed with the series. Originally wasn't going to watch and thought it should have be called Celebrity FAT Club (off soap box now).
I think Tommy, Colleen, Ian and Jono were excellent. Ann made me laugh, but I can't believe she doesn't weigh more. I with you on that one Sal - she must be about 3ft!
Rik was an absolute disgrace, he whinged, moaned, skipped one on one training classes (did even have the courtesy to call and cancel on more than one ocassion) and admitted to the psychologist earlier in the series that he had starved himself to make a weigh in.
I'll elaborate more on that if you want.
His attitude sucked and he came across as arrogant and a male diva. Sorry Rik, but you ain't Barry White!!! I know the industry is fickle and thin is in, but Rik (IMHO) doesn't have the personality to help him succeed and acting like a male diva, when you don't have the career history behind you is just pointless!

I watched the final one last night (have only missed it one week). I am inspired by how much the woman have lost. If I can lose that much in 6 mths I'd be happy.

I dont believe for one minute that Rik starved himself for 3 days straight!!
If he could manage that then he could manage to eat a little bit less everyday and he seemed to find that difficult enough!
I cant believe he didnt lose much, he weighs over 30 stone!! I know he's quite tall but still, I dread to think what he eats in a day!

I thought Rik was a very stupid "little" man. All those people trying to help him and he acted like a nasty little queen! As BigPhatBooty says he does not have the personality so that people can bypass his size. He will get nowhere.
I reckon Anne Widdecombe slimmed down before this fit club as she weighed more I am sure before the programmes. I think she has done quite well. Tommy has done well and Ian too.
I would hate to do anything so public!

I have it on good authority that Ann last about 2 stone before Fit Club and that she attends WW in Westminster.
Hey that is surely leading us all up the garden path?? naughty Ann Widdecombe....but I still think she did well.
