GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there are two of them today. I really like the first one, but both are good!!

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

COMMIT TO IT

Taking action without being totally committed to it can be worse than taking no action at all. Because when you have any level of resistance to what you're doing, you're simply not going to be very effective at it, and the effort will be largely wasted.

Always keep in mind that you can decide to do it or you can decide not to do it. But it is vitally important to make one decision or the other, and then to follow it with your full commitment.

To make progress, you must have yourself on your own side. You won't get very far if you have to work against your own resistance and resentment.

If you're going to do it, commit yourself to it. Commitment is a decision you can make for yourself, regardless of the circumstances, regardless of whose idea it was originally.

Commitment is the act of sincerely putting your heart into what you're doing. If you have no interest in being committed, then why would you have any reason to go through the motions?

Rather than fighting against your own resistance, be supported by your own commitment. That will often make the crucial difference between success and failure.

THIS IS THE DAY

This is the day everything you've learned can be put to positive, productive use. This is the day when you can call upon the courage, the strength and the abilities with which you're blessed, and with them achieve great things.

This is the day in which you can truly make things happen. Think for a moment about the power of that ability.

You're not limited to painful regrets and empty wishes that this day could have been different, as you are with past days. You're not limited to hoping for what will happen, as you are with future days. Today is the day when you can make things happen, and that is rare and precious indeed. Of all the days in your life, this one that you're living right now gives you the power to truly make a difference.

You can think, you can focus, you can make decisions, take action, offer your love and understanding, build, create, and move forward. You can do it all this very day.

All that you've ever dreamed of, or hoped for, whatever you sincerely desire, is here today in the form of very real and attainable possibilities. This is the day to get up, get going and transform those possibilities into reality.

Good Monday Morning Everyone:wave:

Figured I should get in a post, starting the week anew before I find myself once again behind in keeping up with everyone.

Kids are off from school and as I mentioned the other day, Michael has a Dr. appt. at 11am, then his guitar lesson at 4pm. May take them to a movie in between, they complain they are bored and I can't think of much else to spark their interest.

Woke up to rain this morning. It's stopped now, but I haven't peeked out there to see what the conditions look like for walking/jogging. I'm not totally awake myself, but if I don't get a move on now it will get too late, too hot, and I'll find too many excuses not to go if I am actually able to get out there.

JRED, it's not hard to keep up the bean count. I just count out a hundred or two and then mark it down on a paper. I have the jar 1/2 filled now, just a bit more to do.

BOB, I don't understand, what the heck the guy was doing with his bike! How bad did he damage your car? Why didn't you call the police? Sounds like something out of a movie!

LADYKWAK,

Glad you've decided to join us and glad to see another Floridian on the board (we have quite a few of us!). Do feel free to ask questions and pick our brains until your book arrives. I know you will find SB a lot more palatable in more ways than one over Atkins. After you read the SB BOOK, do make sure to ask questions as some of the book can bit not only a bit confusing, but contradictory as well. I also suggest you read MICHAEL MONTIGNACS book, EAT YOURSELF SLIM. See if your library has it and check it out. He explains things better and in more detail than SB in some respects. Looking forward to you hanging out with us and possibly coming to one of our SB GET TOGETHERS that we have, next one in Orlando in Janaury!!!!

DEBY, I have a almost 15 year old nephew and then 4 nieces, ages 6, 5, 2, almost 4 months. They are all adorable, but I have to say, this last one just tugs at my heart and I seem to have a way with her. I love them all though. I think my sister is done, at least we hope so, but she sure does make some cute babies. I never thoguht I'd get preg. years ago, was on clomid, then pergonal, got preg, miscarried. Decided to give myself a break, got preg. with Michael and then within months of him being born, with Lauren, they're only 17 months apart. You never know!!!

Well gals, I'm outta here for now. I'll check back in later and hopefully, be able to keep up this week.

Have a wonderful SB WEEK everyone:D

I hope people are feeling better today. We have a fresh new week to play with here and I am hoping we will have wonderful results for WIW and be enjoying life a little more. My prayers go out to all who are still feeling blah..sometimes we just don't know why we feel like that and I find that a frustrating thing.

JRED- Everyone has scared me with the window stories! I called my Dad (good ole Dad always knows everything ) and it seems this is a very normal thing to happen when you put new siding, new shingles and new windows into an older house. It is more airtight than before and we don't have a furnace to move air around, we use our woodstove as our heat source. We had fires those 2 nights and the warm air hitting the cold windows (it is very chilly here at night already ) meant the condensation. We will have to look into a type of air exchange thing but my Dad said this is not a big problem. At least the condensation is not between the thermal windows. Hope you are feeling better soon, JRED.

LADYKWAK- I saw you posting over at the LowCarbcafe and read your introduction. I did Atkins for numerous months then switched to SugarBusters. Not because it was boring but because I had stalled. I am now doing a lowcarb thing to give myself a boost but will go back to SB soon enough which is the healthier and more interesting way to eat, in my humble opinion.
I know you will enjoy SB because there is such a variety of natural foods you can enjoy as compared to the Atkins Induction. It might take a little longer to lose, but it is certainly sustainable for life. This board is a great help, ask all the questions you want, they always have the answer. Welcome to the Board!

QUILTER- Are you going to be posting soon? I am missing you!

Going to post this before it crashes on me!

I'm not sure if I can post my question here or not, but here goes.

On the GI amounts, am I limited per meal? or How much should I limit myself to in a day? Either I missed this in the book, or I simply don't understand.

We started today, and I don't want to mess up!

Good morning everyone!

This will be another short post as I have to get to work, but I feel like I need to stop in to kick off the week! The weekend was really packed--I was exhausted when I got to last night and pretty cranky. Thank goodness my leave from the church starts next Monday!

Dazzles--wlecome to the board! Try to stay in as low a GI range as possible! Limit yourself to 2-3 starchy carbs per day (these tend to be the foods with moderate GI levels--like SGWW bread, brown rice, WW pasta, sweet potatoes, etc.). Try to avoid foods in the high GI range at all costs! It's not cumulative (like counting carbs or fat grams etc.) Just work from the list that gives you low moderate and high GI foods.

Tranquil--I am so sorry to hear about your cousin. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

BOB--The nerve of some people! Sounds like a TWANDA moment to me!!!!!!!

Deb--still counting coffee beans? Sounds like you will be counting for a while! Have fun. BYW--loved the motivational piece on commitment!

Have a great week everyone! I'll stop in when I can.

Happy Monday Gang!

It's a much better day here for me. Thank goodness. Whatever it was, glad it is gone. :dizzy:

It rained all weekend. Did manage to squeeze in a 2 mile walk last nite. This morning it wasn't raining but so foggy. Decided to wait until tonite to walk. Did get up and get my workout in though.

Shopped again most of the day yesterday. Bought 4 pair of pants, 2 have to be returned. Too tight. Tried the 12's on in the store and they were too big so I bought the 10's, but they were too tight. Something to work for I guess. I did buy a pair of jeans. A size 12. It's hard to believe that this time last year I was wearing a size 22 and now I'm wearing a size 12.:cp: :dancer: I must say shopping for clothes is much more enjoyable.

Bob, Is your car damaged. You should have opened the door and knocked him off his bike! You must be confused, My CATS won 17 to 10 over IND. My dad's heart is only 1/3 operable. We find out today what they propose to do.

Tranquil. Sorry to hear about the tragic accident with your cousin. Prayers to you and your family during this hard time.

Ladykwak. Welcome. SB is a great WOE and this is a great support board. Good luck to you. Ask all the questions you have. Someone will know the answer. Looking forward to getting to know you.

JRed. I hope your funk finally lifted. Mine was better yesterday. Maybe our planets were out of line or something?

Deb, Got that jar filled yet? I would have lost count soo many times it wouldn't be funny. Have a nice day with the kids. Liked your MM about committing. I need to take a close look at that one.

Toni, Hope you are feeling better today.

Country, You are going crazy with your bows. Glad you are having so much fun with it.

Debyj, It rained in Lou all weekend too. But I guess we can't complain since we need the rain so badly. Gives us a good excuse to stay in doors and get stuff done.

Gracious, Glad you got your window problem figured out. No furnace? And my kids think our house is cold in the winter. Think I'll send them to visit you.

Fillise, Hope you are better rested today. Have a great day.

have a great day everyone!

JACK-K- Nope, no furnace. It is actually hilarious to me too..at least it was when we moved here. I grew up in a 6000 square foot house with 5 washrooms, central air and of course a furnace! I moved out here 2 years ago and now I heat with a wood stove! My friends back in Ontario couldn't imagine me living like this. It is rather cozy and I just love the smell of the wood stove and the toasty evenings with hubby. I admit though, that our visitors tend to think it is on the cool side in the winter time...but like my parents used to say even in our house growing up, "Put on a sweater!"

Congrats JACK-K on the size 12 jeans. What a testimony to this WOE to have been a size 22 just a year ago...AWESOME!

Mornin' y'all. Hope everybody had a good, restful weekend. I got absolutely nothing accomplished, but I do feel rested. Last week was extremely busy with the program. That went really well, by the way. :D I was very proud of my kiddos. Now I have a 3rd grade program to get ready for in about 3 weeks. :yikes:

I did manage to drag myself out of bed early this a.m. to exercise.:strong: I did TaeBo basic. I had forgotten how hard it was. It doesn't help that I haven't done much the last two weeks.

I'm soooo far behind that there's no way to reply to everyone. Sorry.:o Have a great day.

Does anyone know where I can get a G.I. list of foods? I went to Rick Mandosa web site and printed the list, but I have no clue on how to read it. There are 2 columns and doesn't tell you which column is for what. Is there a site you can type in the particular food and the g.i. will come up?? What is the magic number for a food to be legal?

Thanks

Hello all. I feel like I'm out of the loop somewhat because I've missed being on the board for the past 3 or 4 days. Apparently BOB had a run in with a bike. Did you get hurt BOB?

I was gonna post a MM for today but my DH has the book from which I will take the quote. So, I will post it tomorrow. It was about temptation.

LadyQuak--I know the GI "points" sounds confusing. You can see that just to find a list we can read, as Jack-K is looking for can be a little challenge. But it is fairly simple. What we are looking for is foods that will not spike our blood sugar. So, the GI values are not a number that we should try to reach, like having a 1200 calorie diet. They are numbers that give us an idea of which foods will not have a big impact on our insulin level. The numbers that are lowest, such as that from barley, vegetables, meats, etc. are lower than the GI numbers of cake, white bread and sugar corn pops. for example. So we try to stay with items from the lower end of the GI scale.

BOB and Fillise--The Gators are pretty horrible this year. We went to the game they played against Ohio and I was wondering at times if they were even going to be able to win the game. (BTW, that game was played in pouring rain. There was lightening in the area, so we all left the stadium for 45 minutes until it passed and the game resumed. First time that ever happened to me.) It was so sad because just a year ago things were so different. It is amazing to me to see such a profound turn around--in the wrong direction, unfortunately. When y'all play them, it should be a piece of cake for you. I just hope we don't have a losing season, which is very possible. As I've said, Zook is no Spurrier.

I will be very busy this week. I had French class all morning, and after weight lifting this afternoon, I take another class with my daughter in a NT book. I am working on a big project this week, and will need all the extra time I can get to finish it. So I may be scarce this week. I am hoping just to get in my walking, which is easy to let go when I need all the time I can find to finish my project. What do the rest of you do when faced with this plight? Let the exercise go until you have the time to do it?

Take care, all you right and left handers.

Tranquil

Thank you all for your comforting words and emails. I took all that anger and wrote a letter to the newspaper, and now that I've put it on paper, I can stop feeling so terribly hopeless in stopping my family's pain and can go on to just give them comfort....

I gained 2 pounds overnight - hopefully it will be gone by WIW! I am being very careful not to emotionally eat....actually I did that yesterday - but I could have been really terrible, but I am positive I have not harmed my success.

DS and I have shared some tummy bug this weekend...maybe it will help with weight loss??? hmmm, one of the benefits of it to look forward to?

Serene and I were good samaritans in the turtle world - we saved a softshelled snapping turtle from being squished on the road....I wish there had been a video camera!

BOB - I hate to tell you this, but you made me laugh so hard I almost peed in my pants! I am sure you were in shock with your violent, lunatic cyclist attacking you so, but on the other hand it was out of a Monty Python skit!

JackK - you are the INCREDIBLE SHRINKING WOMAN!!!!! :cb:

Serene - HAPPY BIRTHDAY....you know you are just dying to hear me sing to you on Thursday!!!

Tonight I will take the time to welcome newbies and write to everyone - before the board gets too busy to keep up with....

Good afternoon,

Getting rady to head home. Got to go to the grocery tonite and get some food and then get my walk in. Hope everyone has a good evening.

The board has been slow today so I can catch up easily.

Music, It seems you finish one program and you have to start another. I guess that is the way it is with teachers, especially a specialty teacher. Good for you exercising this morning. You gotta start some where. Keep up the good work. :cp:

Gracious, Our house is cool all winter. We always have a fire in the fireplace, but the kids upstairs freeze. DH keeps it on 58 in the winter and 78 in the summer. So my kinds are always cold 0r hot and always complaining. They say they have to wear their coats to be warm. One DD slept in gloves and pj and a sweathshirt one nite.

Dazzles, Welcome to our board. This is a great place for support and friendship. We only count the to 3 on carbs not totals in foods. 1 bread, 1 cereal, 1/2 c pasta. Hope that helps.

Gator, You can almost count on a win in 2 weeks when your Gators play UK. :s: It's tough when you're not having a winning season. Just ask a UK fan, we are used to it. That's why we get sooo excited over any old win. On the exercise thing, if I know I can't get my walk in at nite, I get up early before work and get a 2 mile walk in. I try never to miss, but sometimes you just can't help it. At least you are still lifting and that goes alot further I think. Do you do all you body parts at one time. I only doe one part a day. It is nice because it is quicker and you don't get so worn out, but sometimes I don't feel like I'm working hard enough.

Tranquil, I'm glad to hear you are finding some peace with your cousin's death. Share your memories with your family, hopefully that will make some of the pain go away. :grouphug: Just don't give in to emotinal eating. That will only make you feel worse in the long run. Hope you kick that tummy virus. On a lighter note, I wish you all had a video camera too. Was it anything like a Chineese fire drill? :yikes:

Talk to you guys tomorrow!

Hello all!!

I bought the G-index diet book at barnes and nobles. I bet you could buy it online if you don't have a store near you. I had to resort to buying the book, cause i could't find anything on the net either.

Okay-i have a dilemma. I have to have a crown put on a tooth and had some work done on fillings today. The dentist said i have to quit clenching my teeth:nono: And he said i have to take it easy on the old teeth for a while and eat some soft stuff. Of course i LIVE on salad and crunchy stuff!! I hate creamy stuff!!----Sooo--any suggestions?? What kinda soup is low in carbs and sugar---I guess i can have some oatmeal? Any suggestions????--This totally sucks:mad: --But right now, i'm in some pain so i will go with it. I WOULD LOVE A CHOCOLATE SHAKE RIGHT NOW!!!

Howdy all! I'm getting my desk cleared out and ready for my leave!!!! It's not like I get to take all the time off, but it is such a relief to have one less thing to worry about before the election. It's tough this week making sure that the church can survive without me for seven weeks (like it hasn't thrived for a hundred and fifty years before I ever got here), but I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! I just realized to day that I need to order Advent devotionals before I leave--sheesh--like I'm even thinking about Christmas!

I got on the scale this am was down to 244! Slowly that regained weight is coming off! I'm have my TOM now too, so I think my body has decided to relinquish the water supply its been hoarding this last week!

DebyJ--check out Deb's smoothie recipies!!!!! Deb's crustless cheese cake is also very soft! Really a protein smoothie would probably help you out a lot while you are having your dental work done. Yogurt is also good--you can also do a soup--as long as it doesn't have potatoes or white rice in it. Perhaps a creme of mushroom soup or a brocolli cheddar. You do better making your soups from scratch than using the canned because they all have food starches in them!

Jack-K--I thought UK was doing well--until this weekend, but it is only the third game!

BOB--Auburn had it easy Saturday, but we turn around an play again Thursday night--for our 4th game in 18 days. Whoever made this schedule ought to be shot!

Gator--so sorry to hear than Zook is no Spurrier---NOT!

OK gotta go figure out what to do about those devotionals.

It could prove to be interesting....but I have to disagree with GATOR about the team. You can't blame a team for the VISOR MAN who is no longer there...when the season comes, you've either got a team or you don't....I'm not happy with my team, but they are all I've got to work with...

I'm off to recline...later

Hey Guys! I thought I’d better get on here tonight before I got backed up. We just finished up dinner. Want to know what I had? Two chicken thighs and 1 chicken leg and some spinach and a glass of milk. Sam’s club had their chicken thighs and legs on for 77 cents a pound so I cooked up a bunch for the week. I’m taking after BOB with that Sunday cooking! Sure makes weeknight meals easier with the main course all ready to eat!

Speaking of eating . . . I’m doing pretty good. No cheating. I had a few starchy carbs over the weekend. Too many on Saturday (which was my first day that week to have any), but on Sunday I only had three triscuits. So I guess I evened out over those two days. Today I’m back to no starchy carbs and will probably go until Thursday at the earliest. That seems to be working well for me. I’ve felt pretty good over the past week, so I’m going to stick with how I’m eating. I don’tthink the scale is moving. I’ll check again on WIW.

Hey GRACIOUS! Thanks for the heads up and the call to post! Sorry I was letting you down. Didn’t mean to do that. And I certainly appreciate being missed. You are a sweetie pie for getting after me. Hope you are well.

TRANQ---I’m so sorry to hear about your cousin. You must be devastated. Sometimes it’s so hard to figure out what’s going on in this world and why things occur the way they do. This is when I wish I was a multimillionaire so I could send you off to the funeral and to be with your family. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I had a cousin die two years ago in a senseless car crash, and I know it’s a hard thing to get through for the ones left behind. My cousin had two very young children, and we couldn’t even begin to imagine them growing up without their great dad.

SERENE---Thanks for the card! That was so sweet of you. I clicked on the link and then left my office for a few minutes. I thought the music was coming from my co-workers machine and she said, no it’s from yours. Funny! You are too great. And please know that the reason I haven’t been posting is NOT because I’ve gone off program. I am on track as good as I can be. Still not exercising, but I’m concentrating on the eating.

Speaking of exercise, I came home tonight and started raking out front. We have a HUGE tree in our front yard and it’s already started pooping leaves all over the place. Can you believe that we already filled SIX of those big paper yard waste bags just tonight? And when you look up in the tree, it doesn’t even look like any are gone!!!! Eeeegads, I’m going to get a waist and upper arm workout for the next month. This is too early for these leaves to be dropping. I hope there’s no permanent damage to the tree. It really is beautiful and over 45 years old.

I’d love to talk to everybody, but I have to finish The Great Gatsby by Thursday night. Book club. So I’m going to go and put my nose to the grindstone (or really to the spine of this crazy book!). Talk to you later.
Please know that you all are in my thoughts. JACK-K, TONI, BOB, FILLISE, DEB, MUSIC, GATOR, DEBYJ . . . hope you have a fabulous day tomorrow. As soon as I finish this book, I’ll be back on. Keep your fingers crossed that I don’t end up asleep on the couch drooling onto the pages! LOL

Hello, gals! I have been busy lately so I haven't been able to catch up on the posts. My weight is up right now- but it seems to be mainly fluid(hoping). Boogie and Ashley are doing okay. I shoudl have their pics back from Walmart on the 26th. The days are going by so fast. Hard to believe that we will be leaving for his surgery in 3 weeks(Philly). It still hasn't fully sunk in.

Hey My Friends!

How the **** are you gals? I was just popping in to say hello! New job is going good - I'm just VERY TIRED at the end of each day!:hypno2: I'm actually off this week because they found out Friday that my contract doesn't go into effect until the 23rd! So, I couldn't work this week. But - they are paying me for last week - I made sure of that! Other than that - life is good. I haven't been good eating wise though. I'm not gaining but I'm not losing either! I really think I may be about to start my period soon. I haven't had one since I started my Lupron shots in February and I had my last one at the beginning of August - or something like that! I've been having the candy cravings like crazy which is very odd for me. Who knows - I've just got to get my butt in gear and be good! HAHA! That's so hard for me!

BOB: What's this about a bike accident? Give me the scoop! The TIGERS looked good this past weekend - how are the VOLS looking? We play MISS STATE in 2 weeks - we're off this coming weekend!

GATOR: Looks more and more like we aren't going to Florida - still never called for tickets! I'll let you know for sure this week.

Well, let me tell you it is raining AGAIN! Pouring, but thankfully home snug as bugs in a rug!

BOB - I AM SO EXCITED!!!! Forget Wendy's birthday, we finally get to have some fun together - should we just dump the birthday girl and head on off to the Florida Mall for some shopping????????

Fruit - WOW, you lucky you with the time off and paid all because of the contract! Candy cravings, I had a sweet tooth the other day and bought the most delicious red seedless grapes (has anyone noticed that this year's grapes were outstanding!)...they helped a lot! I hope the Lupron is helping you....

Quilter - OMG!!!! I had roasted chicken (just a small bit) and spinach for dinner just now!!!!!! Did you read my mind????? Good for you with NO cheating... this WIW will be a good one for you! Thank you for your kind words!!! {{hugs}}

HeartMom - 3 weeks is not a long time, creeping up, so hugs!! Prayers go out to you and Boogie!!

Fillise - I am SO HAPPY for you with your weight loss - it sure is coming off!!! Good for you!!! :cb: :cb: I bet you will be really happy WIW!!!! Gosh, Christmas - that is a lot to ask of you to think of now ;)

DebyJ - Oh I feel for you - you could cook vegetables until they were really mushy, like brocolli, squash, etc.... oatmeal sounds yummy to me right now.....cottage cheese? SF Applesauce....beans, or chili? I am trying to think of noncrunchy foods....someone help her pleazzzz I cannot think of anything other than NO SUGAR ADDED Ice Cream - it is on my brain along with instant Sugar Free Pudding made with Skim Milk - Oh I know - Crustless Quiche!!!!!!!! the recipe is in the recipe lists....

JackK - your husband and I would get along just fine in the winter because I hate to be hot and uncomfortable, but the summers yuch - 78!! No wonder you are shrinking, he is melting you away!!! hehehehehe

GatorGal - I am not too happy with the Gators playing myself! :(
But I got pom poms and tattoos for the Florida/Tenn game this weekend!!!!

Music - Go Mighty girl with the Taebo - I think I would drop dead from heart failure if I tried that tape! hahaha - Ditto to Keep Up The Good Work!!!! Teachers are Special!!!!

Gracious - No Furnace, that is amazing, you are one tough pioneer woman! I too have a wood burning stove to heat up the house in the winter, I do use it - but only as a fireplace - I put a screen over the front and keep the doors open - it is in the den - and I really like it - though I am always terrified someone is going to get seriously burned on it....

Well, I have to go check on my Boo Boo Bear who is upstairs with an upset tummy still - mine just gurgles, but has done nothing else today - which is a blessing!

Good Night! Sabrina

Evenin' y'all. OK girls. I'm in a major funk right now. Funds are just not there to pay everybody what they want. I know I'm not the only one here with money problems but I just needed to whine a little bit.:s: Dennis hasn't worked in about 3 months and that has really caught up with us financially. It's put me in a bad mood and thrown me into my bad stress eating habits. On top of that, TOM is here. I'll feel better in the morning. Things always look better after a good night's sleep.

TRANQUIL: Sorry to hear about your loss. Prayers for you and your family. Hope y'all don't float away. Wish you could send some rain our way. That taebo is tough. Think I'll try it again in the morning tho.

FRUIT: What's the deal with your contract? Your's doesn't run the same as the other teachers?

HEART: Glad everyone is well. Thinking about you as the surgery gets closer.

BOB: How is your car? I would have freaked out!:yikes:

JACK-K: Yeah, I finish one program and start on another. I'm also working on a choir program for a fall festival next month. Then I'll have 2 Christmas programs.:fr:

Well, gotta sign off for now so I can get that good night's sleep.

:yikes: :fr: :fr:

BOB--I'm not blaming SOS for the poor playing of the once mighty Gators. I'm just stating a fact. Just wait until after the UF UT game, and you'll agree with me: the Gators are rather pathetic. We sat in the rain Sat. night and watched some pitiful playing against a "nuthin'" team. Normally the buck stops at the coach's desk, and this year the coach is Zook.

Jack-K--I do a 30 minute workout twice a week, doing all the major body parts. I do leg presses, leg extensions, abductors, abs, back, bench presses, pullovers, and tricep curls. I do about 15 reps for each exercise and do each rep very slowly, to a count of 6. It would even be better if I could do each rep to a count of 10, but I'm not that mentally strong to stand the pain and effort with that.

Here's my MM contribution: it's "religious", about the devil and God, so feel free to skip it if you want. It reminds me that even one cookie can make a difference in our long-term attitude.
"Temptation has become an almost innocuous word today, not taken too seriously. We may be'tempted' to eat some chocolate, but I doubt that the fate of the world hangs in the balance if we give in. However, it is in Satan's nature to tempt us to take seemingly unimportant, small steps away from God's expressed will, down unmarked paths that can
eventually lead to our destruction. We need to be ready at all times to recognize the all-too-gentle nudges of the enemy that lead us away from
trusting in God's established order."
Scott Moreau

I ate well today, but was just around 1200 cals. I think. I had a class tonight and came home ravenous after a dinner of just lettuce, and some chicken salad. So I had some WW bread and p-nut butter. I think all the water I had made me feel a little washed out.

It poured tonight, and we are still getting rain every day. I would like to be able to walk in the evening, but so far, no luck.

You all sound like your good friend. I don't see how your able
to keep up with each others posts the way you do.
You really sound concerned about one another. I was on

ago. I hope I will be as successful as all of you.:D

What's up with this--my third post for the day! I'm hyper and cannot get to sleep at the moment--even though I'm very tired.

Tomorrow I have to drive down to Montgomery to meet a film crew. They are making some sort of short vidoe about Republican women and they want to interview me. I have no idea where or when it will be used--but I really need my beauty zzzzzzzs!

I hate seeing myself on video--it reminds me of that scene from Friends of Monica's home movie of her prom. They are shocked at how much heaver she is and she tells them "They say the camera adds ten pounds." To which Chandler replies "How many cameras were on you?" I'm wondering how many cameras it will look like are on me tomorrow!

Thunder1--welcome to the board. yes we are all friends here--just hop right in and soon you will begin to feel the bonds too! We are brought together by our common WOE, but you can see that we talk about everything else too. I hope you will do well with SB. I've lost 56 lbs others have lost lots more. It's not the fastest way to lose weight, but is certainly the healthiest I've seen in a long time!

DebyJ--Heheheh--a toothless Gator!!!!;) Better watch our for the Big Orange Babe--she's ruthless! Better get those choppers fixed before Saturday.

BOB, Gator and DebyJ--Unfortunately I am going to be held captive in the mountains of NC this weekend and won't get to see your game. I'm going to Montreat (just outside of Asheville) for a church Retreat. I threatened to take my group to a sports bar in Asheville to watch the Auburn game Thurs. night--but I found out that one of our houses has cable--WAR EAGLE!

Sabrina--BooBoo Bear??????? Y'all have fun this weekend. Um, are your brave enough to watch the game with Narda?

Heartmom--I am still keeping you and Boogie and Ashley in my thoughts and prayers. I know you have a lot to do before you leave for Philly. Please know that we will be here for you--in whatever way that we can be.

OK, I'm tired now so off for the zzzzzzzzzs

Good morning girls! I am surprised at how slow the board has been since Friday, I wonder where people have gotten to.

TRANQUIL-Yes, I feel like a real pioneer. We live in *the bush* for the most part. A very small area that you can't even call a town. It has 1 gas station and 5 churches and the houses..that is it! Good thing we are only 10 minutes away from an actual town with a tiny mall and then a half hour away from a city. Our kids go to school in the city actually so hubby is forever driving back and forth. We are practically *redneckers* now! I hope you and your son are feeling much better today.

QUILTER- Good to see you again! I am glad you have kept on plan and are still watching those carbs. I am off on one of my usual tangents to give myself a boost by not eating any carbs and have lost 3 lbs so far. I am still trying to get rid of those vacation pounds. Don't you hate losing the same weight twice?

FILLISE-If you see yourself on tv and don't like what you see don't let it get you down. Use it to your advantage. Let it fuel the flame of your motivation so that by this time next year you will see a real difference. You have done wonderfully so far by losing those 66 lbs! You deserve one of those groovin' banana dances :cb:

THUNDR1- Welcome to the board. Just jump right in and ask questions.

LDBLOND-Nice to see you. How are you feeling these days?

GATORGAL- Amen to your MM.

Have a great day peeps.

Happy Tuesday Gang!

Hope everyone is up and at it today and feeling great. Got my walk in early today. Boy was it humid. I was wringing wet. I tried something today. I carried hand weights during my walk. It was hard to get in the rythem of swinging them though. I guy who writes a health column in our Sunday paper said that walking with hand weights was a better cardio workout than jogging. I still jogged some, not as much. It really wore me out though. Thought about putting off my workout until tonite, but went on and got it over with. Glad I did now.

Debyj, I make milkshakes with NSA ice cream, SF syrup and skim milk. Awesome! You could make some chicken noodle soup with ww noodles. Good luck at the dentist.

Bob & Other SEC Gals, You all will love this one. UK is the top SEC school for rushing yards. Ain't that a kicker. And you all thought we weren't a real team!.

Gator, Your "boy" took a whopping last night from the Eagles. Maybe he'll be ready to come back. Do you have any ideas for some good exercises to tone the top thighs, especially the inner thighs. Something I can do at home since I don't belong to a gym. You keep playing down those Gators and I bet they cream us in a couple weeks.

Fillise, Somehow I bet even though you are taking a leave of absense from the church, w=you will still be doing things for them. I bet they call you a lot with questions. Enjoy your time off, I know you will still be very busy with elections and stuff. WTG on the scale going down. What do you mean UK was doing well until this weekend? We won! I hope we get to see your video. You will look beautiful I'm sure.

Gracious, loved your advice to Fillise. Have a great day. WTG on the 3 lbs.

Quilter, You are doing great with your eating. Keep up the good work. I hope WIW proves successful with your no carb week. Check out the recipe I posted awhile back for oven baked chicken. Basically, you just keep spraying the chicken with PAM before and after you coat it in WW flour. It is really good.

Heartmom. That fluid will come right off. Hang in there. Still sending prayers your way for Boogies surgery.

Fruit, Good to hear from you. Nice getting an unexpected vacation. I was wondering how coming off those Lupron shots would work. DD had her last one in August. She is still having some pain. Don't know what they will do.

Tranquil, I don't know about melting me away, but everyone at work tells me I freeze all the time because I don't have any insulation anymore. LOL

Music, Sorry about your funk and money problems. It must be tough with DH not working. I know I couldn't do it. Just don't resort to eating. That will only make your problems worse. Exercise some of the stress away. Good luck. Prayers for something coming his way soon.

Idblond, Glad to hear you are still around. Sometimes it's hard to post all the time. That's ok. Glad you are stil eating OP.

Thunder1, We do have a friendship bond here. The support and friendship go along way in making this WOE work. Please join us. It is a great board.

Have a great day everyone. Check in later.

Hey All:wave:

Thought I'd get in a post before taking Michael to his guitar lesson yestserday, actually, I started this post before then and then got sidetracked and never was able to get back on anytime during the day/night, so here I am, cleaning it up and trying to restart this and get it posted.

Took Lauren out to lunch yesterday, Michael decided not to go, so we went for Sushi, was much more expensive than I thought it would be, should of gone to Shorty's instead. Lauren sure better marry a rich man or make lots of her own money, she has caviar taste and her Mother has a beer pocket!

Forgot to mention that last week when I went to WHOLE FOODS they have the 85% COCOA LINDT CHOCOLATE BARS available there. Also, this past weekend I found 2 throw-away jackets for the WDW Marathon at a garage sale for .50 cents a piece. Nice ones at that. One is a bit heavier than the other, so depending on how the weather in Orlando is that day, I know I'll be able to use one, if not both.

Was able to get in my walk/jog today though I really didn't feel like going. It's stil so hot here and now with me not being able to carpool, I get a later start than I'd like to. I was surprised to even get in a decent time of 52:40 today, esp. since I was really not going to go out today.

I have to get ready to get in the shower and go p/u my sister and at least the baby, maybe the next youngest one as well. She bought a couch about 2 months ago that they've replaced this one piece 3 times so far and once again, it's falling apart and they refuse to take it back and give her her money back. She wants to go to their largest showroom which is up in Broward to see if they have anything different than the stores down here, which, after looking down here, they don't. Needless to say she's peeved big time and may have to go to one of those people on TV and see if they can do something positive to remedy this situation.

Took Michael to his Dr. appt yesterday, he grew 1 1/2 inches and actualy lost 16lbs since a year ago. Going to get some blood work done on him just to make sure he's getting the right nutrients since he's a veg.

I don't have time to post individual responses but I plan on doing so when I get home (hopefully). I do intend to reply to all the posts, so don't give up on me yet!

I would like to welcome THUNDER1 to our board

We are truly a wonderful, caring and loving group of people on this board and when you get involved with us you'll see just what I mean even moreso than you've already discovered. Don't hesitate to ask questions, we're all more than happy to help in any way!

DAZZLES, a big welcome to you as well!

I think your question about the GI was answered, but just in case, you aren't limited to any amount of GI foods, you just want to make sure you are eating enough. The GI is more of a tool and you just want to make sure you eat foods lower on the GI. BUT, do remember, if you pair up a high GI food, with a low GI food you will get a moderate GI rating, The GI is determined by eating just that one particular food, not when you eat it in a meal, so when you make, say rice and beans, the rice being higher GI and the beans being lower GI, you will take the 2 and get a combined rating. You do want to try and keep your starchy carbs as it was mentioned to 2-3 a day, and watch portions, it's very easy to go over what is recommended as a portion. Don't be afraid to ask questions, this is a learning experience and we're all more than happy to help out in any way.

Oh, and SERENE, are you TRYING to tell me something with that e-card you sent me. Yeah, yeah, I know I have saggy boobs, but do you have to rub it in???? Geez, it's bad enough Lauren points this out to me, ELI too-but you??? Where's the support I really need??? LOL!!!!!

Okay, I MUST run! Please remember TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST!!!! I do plan on being in the chat room tonight!!!!
Hope to see you all there!

Will check back later!

Tuesday's use to be tip Tuesday, without looking I'm still hoping they are....if not here's some good info I received this morning in a newsletter about my favorite snack...Apples, Apples and More Apples! (of course with some peanut butter)

Apples are a Good Thing. They are a source of dietary fiber, low in calories and they taste good. They are also inexpensive and easy to carry. Apples are a popular fruit. The consumption of apples in the United States averages out to about 18 pounds per person each year. They are available all year round and over 7,000 varieties of apples are grown in the world, of which several hundred varieties are available for purchase. Naturally, they are not all available at the same store. Despite this abundance of varieties, many people have tasted only a very few varieties. Red Delicious and Golden Delicious are among the most popular and commonly consumed apples. Though they share a name they are unrelated. Here are some generally available varieties you may like to try, if you haven't already tried them:

Granny Smith - the mystery apple. Crisp and tart, its parents are unknown. Granny Smith buried a box of rotting apples and a tree grew on the spot. The rest, as they say, is history. Good for eating fresh and for baking, excellent sautéed.

Fuji - this apple was bred in Japan by crossing Ralls Janet and Red Delicious. It is spicy and crisp and stores well, eat it fresh, or use it for baking or applesauce.

Braeburn - sweet and tart, perfect for salads or eating fresh. Good for baking and applesauce. This apple was developed in New Zealand, probably a cross between Lady Hamilton and Granny Smith.

Gala - Sweet, tangy and crisp, delicious fresh, in salads or for baking. Makes excellent applesauce.

Cortland - Tart and sweet, yet mild, this apple is good for eating fresh and making applesauce and apple pie.

Rome Beauty - an October apple, sweet, firm and juicy. Especially good for apple pie and baking.

McIntosh - crisp and tender, both sweet and tart, McIntosh is a good apple to eat fresh or use for salads, pies and cider.

Empire - another October apple, sweet, mild and crisp. Use it in pies, salads, applesauce and enjoy it fresh.

There are many other apple varieties which may be available in the stores at times; watch out for them, or check out the farmers' markets and wayside stalls. If you are interested in growing some of these more unusual or old fashioned apples, look through the garden catalogs or go to the Internet and search for Apple Varieties. Apple types have some wonderful names, it makes one wonder who has the fun of naming them:

Fortune, Pink Lady, Winesap, Northern Spy, Mutsu, Puritan, Elstar and Winter Banana Heirloom varieties are also available.

Heirloom apples are the old fashioned types our ancestors grew and enjoyed. They are no longer grown commercially for various reasons; perhaps they don't travel well, don't keep as long or just do not appeal to the consumer. These heirloom or heritage varieties include:

Cox Orange Pippin, Blue Pearmain, Arkansas Black, Bailey Sweet and Black Gilliflower
Some varieties are grown only for cider, including:

FoxWhelp, Roxbury Russet, Tremlett's Bitter and Yarlington Mill
Most cider apples are not good for eating; of these four, only Roxbury Russet can also be eaten fresh.

If you want to know more about apple varieties, growing apples, nutrition, recipes, cider, apple festivals, apple legends and apple sayings go to the following websites:

http://www.corevalues.org/consumers/apple_types.html (Core Values Northeast) Gives general apple information.

http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/apples/varieties.html (University of Illinois Extension) This site has numerous links to apple subjects and specific types of apples, including heirloom varieties.

http://its.guilford.k12.nc.us/webquests/Apples/apples.htm (Designed by Tricia Goodman of the Guilford County Schools in Greensboro, NC) This is a great applequest for you and your children. Research, learn and have fun here.

By the way...no I didn't type this, it is brought to you by the wonderful technology of copy and paste :) Have a good day!

Good Tuesday morning, all! Good to read how everyone is doing. Wow! I am still so jazzed to see such great weight loss in so many of you, and it's not even WIW yet!

I'm doing great, too. I'm averaging almost 3 pounds a week so far since starting 8/1/02. I don't expect that to continue forever but I'm enjoying it while I can. I just feel so good on SB that any weight loss would be fine with me!

My poor DH (thanks for explaining what that meant!) -- he has 20-30 pounds he wants to lose, too, but is not real disciplined with following SB, like I have been. So he's not losing an ounce on it! He used to be able to drop weight by cutting out one of his three sandwiches at lunchtime...NO MORE! Oh, well, he has so much less than I do to lose...he can goof off for a year and still catch up with me.

Hey, anyone of you neat new friends heard about the dangers of microwave cooking? I mean danger to your health? I learned to cook everything we eat by microwave oven over 20 years ago and have used it in my kitchen almost exclusively since...then a couple of days ago, I stumbled across a web site that said microwaving actually changes the molecular structure of the foods you prepare in it!!! There are also possible links to change in nutrition of foods cooked in it, and even some links to cancer caused by microwave cooking. Anyone have some thoughts on this? Wouldn't it be a shame to change so much of our eating to be so healthy on SB and then be cancelling the goodness of our new eating with cooking stuff in the microwave. I'm hurting here...major overhaul to my cooking habits of a lifetime...so would sure appreciate your thoughts and maybe even backup of your thoughts with scientific evidences.

Thanks a million...I love having so many new friends and look forward to growing friendships galore!

debyj, for your thoughts on the microwave oven. I know the plastic housing the food you are heating can be melted if you microwave for too long. But these articles I've been reading say there is danger in the actual cooking process involving the microwaves. I'll check more into it and see if I can find out the straight of it and if I do, I'll let everyone know.

Hello everyone!

Let me say welcome to our newbies first......

Welcome LADYKWAK, Dazzles, and Thunder1. It is always nice to have new friends join us in this WOE.

Fillise - hope you can find some time to relax. Sounds like you will still be very busy even though you are taking a break from church duties. That is so wonderful that you have lost 56 lbs!

Jack-K - glad you are feeling better from the weekend. WOW, you've gone from a size 22 to a 12. That is simply Marvelous! The turtle rescue with Tranquil was even better than a Chinese fire drill. Would you believe she didn't know what that was???

OK - for all the inquiring minds out there - here is the account of the Turtle rescue: We saw a big, soft-shelled snapping turtle in the road by my house. I retrieved a dustpan with a long handle from my kitchen, thinking we could move it. Well, that sucker had a grip on the road and wouldn't budge. In trying to get it to move, it got mad and attacked the dustpan and would grip it tightly for a few seconds, at which time Tranquil would scream, do her quick jig, and pull it across the street a short ways. This was repeated several times until the turtle was safely pulled across the street and into the grassy park. Meanwhile, I stood in the road, in tears and wet pants, laughing so hard because I'd never seen anyone dance a jig for a turtle before. So, does our brave rescue make us the dynamic duo, like Batman and Robin??

Tranquil - so you are going to sing to me on Thursday?? That will be funny since my birthday is Wednesday. Our feat of saving the turtle was funnier than you realize with the cute toe dance jig you did every time the turtle snapped. Never knew you could move so fast and jump so high! So, you want to dump me and go shop with BOB. I should have known that my birthday was just an excuse to go shopping in Orlando. Gosh, now I have to wonder what wicked plans you two are really have in store for me??

Deb - the 85% Cocoa Lindt chocolate bar sounds yummy. Tranquil and I have a bet going and the winner gets a chocolate bar from the health food store. I'm expecting to be the winner, of course! LOL

ldblond - thanks for sharing the info about the apples. I didn't realize there were so many varieties. It is one of my favorite fruits to eat.

gracious - I would love to be where you live. I lived on a 200 acre farm in North Carolina once - in a 150 yr old restored farm house. It was wonderful living away from everything, but having a city close by. The heating system wasn't great, however, it didn't bother me cuz I'm always hot. I have 3 fans going in my bedroom and still get hot, due to menopause I guess.

BOB - You gave my secret away!! I had everyone thinking that I would only be 47, and now you reveal my real age of 50. Now I know not to trust you with anymore secrets! And, of course we will stay 100% OP while in Orlando, right??

Quilter - I'm glad to hear you have been doing so well. Hope I didn't insult you by asking if you had fallen off the wagon. I really meant it to be funny. I have the utmost faith in your commitment to this WOE!

debyj - I can really sympathize (in spite of you being a gator hater) with your dental problems. I have a mouthful of them that need help....11,000 dollars worth to be exact. Will end up having a lot of them pulled I guess. I have to be careful with the crunchy food also. Good luck to you.

heartmom - I love your other name - dorkey diaperbuns! Too funny!

Thunder1 - we all do have a genuine concern for one another on this board. Don't worry about being able to post to everyone individually. Just do what you can - we all understand that it is a lot to keep up with. You can do terrific with this WOE. The support and friendship make such a difference.

LKF - 3 pounds a week is so fantastic! I haven't heard that info about microwave cooking but will be sure to check into it now.

music - sorry to hear about your stress with finances. We all need to vent sometimes. That's what we are all here for, in addition to losing weight.

fruit - it always good to see you check in. I miss you when you aren't around!

Hope I didn't miss anyone as I sure didn't mean to.

I'm not expecting a loss for WIW. I am bloated and cramping again, so I'm up a few pounds. Just doesn't seem fair to have menopause and TOM symptoms at the same time. Oh Well! I have been eating OP, with the exception of few too many carbs on Sunday.

My ex-2-b has been trying to bully me into a divorce agreement - without an attorney. I kicked him out of the house today when he came by - so I'm getting stronger. I still need prayers for making good decisions about all this.

Ta Ta for now!

Hope everyone is having a great week! :)

I've been managing to squeeze in a post a week, trying for more but the time constraints lately aren't allowing me to argue with this machine for more than a few minutes, and I usually devote it to EMail.

I've done great so far this week... Of course that's only 2 days... but heck that TWO DAYS! LOL!!! :D Need to up the water (what else is new) but doing good elsewhere!

Went shopping today... had some coupons for Lane Bryant... got $250 worth of clothes for $125!! Not too shabby. The thing is all the size 14's I bought are a perfect comfy fit... not the least tiny but snug... so I have a feeling I won't be wearing them very long! I'm hoping I can consignment/yard sale them and get a little of my $$$ back anyway :) Anyone have any hints on shrinking jeans? LOL!!! I think the courdoroy pair I can have altered to make them last longer... anyone ever have that done? Take your fav clothes to a tailor/seamstress so you can hang on to them for one more season? I never have but am considering it!!!

OK... I'm off to a PTA meeting in a little bit so I have to finish cleaning out the closet and dresser so I have somewhere to sleep when I get back. Hope WIW is kind to everyone, I'm still scale-less as usual so no clue what it would say for me! LOL :)

Bye Y'all

Jack-K--Actually, I have seen the Gators lose to UK, but I have been a Gator fan since 1960 when I started school at UF as a freshman. That’s great to hear about the Cats. More power to ‘em. Too bad they are on probation. It would be more interesting if they weren’t. Hmmm. Inner thighs. Well, leg extensions will work your quadraceps. Thats where you hang a can of paint off each foot and sit on the edge of a counter and extend your legs parallel to the floor. Up and back. Up and back. Inner thighs are a little trickier. You have to find something that will give resistance to closing your legs together. For outer thighs you could lay on your side and do leg lifts. Add weights to make it harder. I’ll have to look to see if I have a book about how to get the inner thighs. Oh, BTW, it looked to me like the GatorSkins don’t have a great defense. But I only peeked at the game as I was really busy last night.

Fillise--I was a camp counselor years ago (1961) at Camp Montreat for Girls. It no longer exists. Every Sunday we would walk down as an entire camp to the big presb. church there in the middle of the village. And there is a little lake (actually a pond) in the middle of town, that is cold as ice, even in the middle of summer. Brrrr.

You SEC girls think I am just poor mouthing. I’m not! I’m tellin’ ya the trooth!! You might have something to worry about if SOS were still there. He could make gold out of dirt. But, as I keep saying: Zook is no Spurrier. So it should be a rollover this weekend. The only question is: how bad will we lose?

Idblond--My favorite apple of all time is the Newtown Pippin. Hard to find down here, though. :(

Serene--When are you coming down to O-town? This weekend or Friday? Where are you staying? We actually will be here in town this weekend and I may be able to meet up with y’all. Let me know.

I’m having dinner with my DS tonight. I think we are going to Sweet Tomatoes, where I can get a big salad and get my veggie quota in for the day. It’s cheap and both of our pocketbooks need that.

Well, gotta go and drink another glass of H2O. Have been trying to get in at least 64 oz. Ta Ta.

Hi Gang!

It's raining here again. Now that it has finally started raining again, it will probably never stop.:?: Glad I got my walk in early today.:D

Heading out to the VET (vehicle emissions testing). What a rip-off. $11 to stick something in your gas tank. THey are supposed to do away with it, but not soon enough for me. Especially for new cars.:soap: Oh well, can't beat the system.

Have to take DD car toget the oil changed tonite and she doesn't get home until 8:00 so I hope I am back in time for chat.

Deb, Don't all kids have that caviar taste? Mine sure do, especially my oldest. I think we are probably responsbile for that don't you? Michael lost 16 lbs? Must be your cooking. LOL Good luck at the furniture store. Don't let them push you girls around.

Idblond, Thanks for the info on apples. I always buy Fuji. Never had a bad one yet. Apples were not my favorite fruit before this WOE, (would rather have a bag of chips), but now I usually eat one for my snack every day.

LKF, You are doing so great. 3 lbs a week is awesome. When I strated I lost like that. Now it has slowed to a snail's pace. But any loss is ok with me. My DH cheats alot too, but he still has lost 30 lbs. Microwave cooking? Funny you should bring that up, I was just thinking about it yesterday. My boss is sooo picky about his food I was wondering why he would use one. I think everthing probably has to do with cancer one way or the other. I only heat up veggies and soups in mine.

Serene, Not Batman and Robin, more like Lucy and Ethel. Do you think Tranquil will know who they are?? I would have loved to see that. I would have been right with you with the wet pants and all. Hold your ground with your ex. Don't give in onthings that are important to you.

Beth, Hey 2 days OP is wonderful. Keep it up. You can do it. Great bargains on your shopping trip. I have a dress I love and I am getting ready to take it to the seamstress to take up. Good feeling isn't it. Are you going to sleep in the closet or on the dresser?

Have a great night everyone

Good luck on the scale tomorrow!!!!

Evening All:wave:

Figured I better try to get in what I can before the kids get home and need the computer for homework.

Went with my sister (Leslie) today, wasn't successful with fixing this couch situation and hoping that this higher up person will call tomorrow and find a way to rectify the situation before it gets ugly. I have to admit, I was really pissed off at the way this one women handled things and I ate 2 disgusting cookies they had there-why, I don't know, there was no good reason to do so-and from there, it went from bad to worse.

I don't like admitting that I have fallen off the wagon, got run over, strewn apart in to little bits and pieces like Humpty Dumpty and not knowing how I'm going to put the pieces back together again. This is just NOT me, at least I didn't believe it was. The other day I got so pissed off when I got on the scale and saw a 5lb overnight gain that I just ate like the next day the world was ending. Of course, I knew somewhere in the back of my pea-picking mind that this was mid-cycle weight gain, but just seeing the numbers on the scale threw me for a loop and that was it. The next day, I was perfect, I couldn't ask for better eating, but the following day, it was bad once again. I have to figure out what's eating me and making me eat all this crap that I know is so bad. All the exercise I'm doing is not going to make a bit of difference when I don't eat right, and when I don't eat right, I not only get pissed at myself, but I don't feel good either. What the heck is wrong with me:shrug: I just know how I am with this cheating, you all know what I've always said about me and cheating, and once I did it, well, it's been **** trying to get back on the straight and narrow. I have been able to do so for weeks but it seems that the scale, once it goes up, it takes forever to come back down again.

With this in mind, I am going to stop getting on the scale for a while, it's just stressing me out. I'm going to get my fat arse back in the right gear, get my mind back on track and re-commit. I just have to because I don't want to gain this weight that's taken me so long to lose, I don't want to repeat the same mistakes I've repeated so many times in the past, I have to make sure this is the last time I have to lose this weight, and after being at goal for over a year, I have to work on making it to 2 years and beyond. So with that, throw those tomatoes at me, let me hear your thoughts and please, don't follow in my footsteps!!!!!! Geez, I think I need to read the MM message over and over and over.....

I do want to say, esp to our newer members, that I don't say this to get you down, or discourage you, this is something we all will probably face once in a while, as this is a WOL and not a fleeting diet we are all on. If any one of us thinks for a second that once we lose the weight that we can just throw all caution to the wind and go back to eating like we use to, you might as well give it up right now, because that's just not the way it is. This is something we'll have to deal with the rest of our lives and there will be times that we may fall back on old habits and have to dig our way out. I mention this to all of you because no one more than each of you understands this, and when I talk about having a hard time, I know more than anyone else I talk to, you all will understand me and be there for me, as we all are for each other. Without you all, I would of NEVER made it to my goal weight, and without you all, I won't be able to continue to strive to stay there. You guys are my rocks!

FILLISE, haven't picked up counting the beans again, but will do so soon, not that hard, just a little time consuming. Glad you liked this weeks MM messages, as I mentioned above, I need to read them over and over again. Aren't you glad you don't have to work any of the races in Floriduh, I swear, you'd think the people down here don't know Jack when it comes to voting!

JACKK, good going on the pants! Before you know it you'll be finding those size 10's too big! Just wait til your cruise, you'll be having to buy all new stuff to wear. To answer your question about the GI food list, there is a site that you can enter a food and it will come up, but there are lots of other sites besides Mendosa's that have listings, though they are all about the same. Do check out the link below:

http://www.calvin.biochem.usyd.edu.au/GIDB/search.htm

TRANQUIL, hope you and Zach are feeling better today.

DEBY, always check out half.com or Ebay for books, even bestbookbuy.com-I always can find the best deals on books through any of those sites. If you've never used half.com, let me know and I'll have a $5.00 coupon sent to you to use for next time. Hope all went well with your tooth today. As for eating, any soup with beans is a good choice, cottage cheese, eggs, there's a slew of possibilities, you have no reason to go hungry. Chocolate shake, do what I do, I take a cup of skim milk, 2 packets of sweetener, a tsp of carob powder, half tsp of coffee extract and about 9 ice cubes, throw it in the blender til smooth, and viola, you have a SB legal shake that's delicious AND filling!

LKF, I too have heard stuff about nuking foods and plastic wraps, but also to not use those deli containers that start to melt, nor anything plastic unless it specifically says it can be microwaved. I keep telling my kids to nuke stuff on regular plates, or paper. I really never cooked stuff other than popcorn or potatoes in the microwave (not that I cook much of anything anyhow), I use it more to heat up foods, though the kids do nuke stuff like frozen pancakes and the like. Sounds like you are continuing to do well on SB, CONGRATS!!!

SERENE, how do you plan on celebrating your big day tomorrow? And what's this bet you and TRANQUIL have all about, I esp. have to know since it involves CHOCOLATE!:s: Sounds like you two are really hero's in the turtle world now!

BETH, I'm sure Lane Bryant will be a thing of the past when it comes to you shopping there soon. I'm sure taking your barely used clothes to consignment will earn you some bucks back to buy some new clothes. Don't bother with trying to shrink the pants, you just deserve to buy some new duds when it's time!

QUILTER, MUSIC, GATOR, GRACIOUS, HEART, FRUIT, LDBLOND, TONI-howdy to you all as well!!!!:D Glad to see your posts and know you are all alive and kicking!

Okay, I'm outta here til chat time. I'm going to make something light to eat for ELI, I'm not too hungry at this time, I think it was all that unnecessary crap I ate today! Going to make him some yogurt with mint and cucumbers, bought some swiss chard, may attempt to make soup if I get inspired.

See you all tonight at chat. Remember, for those brave souls you dare, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!!

Hey guys!!

I'm okay-still got sore toothitis! I actually made some jumbalaya tonite. Diced tomatoes, bell pepper, onion, seasonings, chicken breast meat and healthy choice turkey keilbasa. Threw in brown rice and it was delicious. Probably too many carbs cause now i feel sluggish, but it was goooooodddd. :D

Bob--i'm not going to the game-can't afford that ticket!! They are very high!! Got some friends here that i will watch it with. Dh will be at the bama vs southern miss. There was no way:tape: i was gonna go to a bama game when the most exciting game of the season is upon us!!

Hello, SB friends.

I'm afraid I'm going to be away during the next several weeks because of this class I'm taking. I have to read a book and write papers, and I've been out of school so long, I'm really having to work hard to understand this education lingo. The book I'm reading has these big words, as if the author wants to prove how intelligent she is. So I have to reread the pages. It's frustrating.

Happy Birthday, Wendy!!! {{{{HUGS}}}}

I am coming out of the funk, but now DH is getting ready to leave for Amarillo, so I'll be a single mom during the week, once again.

Hope you all have a successful WIW.

Hi Everybody!!!

Hope your days are going well. Mine was really great! Went to work and was getting a lot accomplished. Then I saw an ex Bengal football player walk into our building. He still lives locally and he’s liked by all around here. (He played back when the Bengals were good.) His name is Chris Collinsworth in case any of you are pro football fans and might remember him. JACK-K, I’ll bet you know who I’m talking about. Anyway, we knew he was going to the fox tv station which is in our building. Well, one of our gals found a football (imagine that!) so we asked the guard to have Chris sign it for us when he left the building. Well, the guard brought him down to our office. And we all got to meet him. It was quite exciting and he signed the football. And we will now be able to auction it off at our upcoming silent auction to raise money for our organization. Ain’t that something???

My eating is good. Actually, I’m wondering if I am eating too little. I need to get back on FitDay and count up my daily totals. But I’m truly not hungry. I do think that eliminating the starchy carbs for most of the week is really helping with those ugly cravings.

FILLISE---Glad to hear that your weight is coming off. That’s a good, good feeling. Keep up the work! You are seeing the benefits from being diligent! I LOLed at your comment about the multiple camera effect. Yeegads, that can be scary!

BOB---That guy on the bike was insane!!! Man, that’s really scary. Too bad he didn’t have a license plate on that thing so you could report him. He sounded like a volcano awaiting to erupt.

TRANQ---I can’t believe we had the exact same thing to eat last night. What are the chances of that??? I’m probably having the same thing tonight. We’re big on leftovers around here. Hey that story of you and W and the turtle is toooooooo hilarious. I wish you’d have gotten it on video. Perhaps one of the neighbors did!

MUSIC---Sorry to hear about all the downers coming your way these days. Hang in there and keep looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. Girl, you can control your eating even when times are tough. Look at it this way, if you ate well, then you’d have one good thing to perk you up. {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} I hope something breaks for DH soon.

THUNDER1---Welcome, welcome, welcome! It’s good that you joined us. Don’t get crazy about remember who people are. That will come with time. Sometimes I have trouble when we get a whole bunch of new people at one time, but sooner or later, I get everybody straight. Once you start sharing about yourself, we’ll be able to get to know you. Good luck. Stay true to the way of eating and you’ll be fine.

GRACIOUS---Good luck trying to kick those nasty vacation pounds to the curb. DH and I are going to TN for a long weekend soon and I’m afraid I may blow it down there. They’ve got awfully good barbecue down in them thar mountains. Keep working, you’ll get back to where you want to be.

JACK-K---Hey, good idea to add those handweights. Did your hands get tired of carrying them. Like did they cramp up? I’ve often wondered about that as you have to keep your fingers curled up the whole time. That recipe sounds great!!! I haven’t checked it out yet, but must try it soon. Thanks for the suggestion.

DEB---Oh, I love that Lindt chocolate. You know I only ever bought ONE bar of it, because I couldn’t ignore it once it got into the house. It was so yummy. I don’t know how you manage to stay away from it when it’s under your roof.

LDBLOND---Thanks for article on apples. I have been on such a kick with them for the past month. I’ve been eating three a day for a couple of weeks and I feel great. I’ve been buying the Galas. But my favorite is the fuji. Delicious get too mushy for my liking. That was a perfect thing to post. I can’t wait to check out the links.

LFK---Hi! I don’t think I’ve introduced myself to you yet. I’m glad you’re here with us. So please accept my somewhat tardy welcome.

SERENE---Oh my gosh, you had me laughing so hard at the turtle rescue. That was a riot. You two really do remind me of Lucy and Ethel and all the adventures you have. I’m glad neither of you got chomped on by that ungrateful shell with a face. Thanks for the laugh. I wish I could have seen it. I know my pants would have also been wet! You didn’t offend me. Ithought it was funny when you asked if I was really busy or off the wagon. Girl, don’t you know by now that I’m not one to take offense or hold grudges????? LOL! Come on, we have the same sense of humor and all those parallel lives things going on. How could I take offense at that?

Well, I’m going to try and get on the chat. Catch you all later,.

BOB--Nope, I’ve not seen Ewe Tea play yet. But, I’ve seen the Gators play and that’s enough for me. About the point spread. Hahaha. The Gators were favored to win over Miami too. So, I know the points don’t mean a thing. Haha.

Had a good dinner with my son, but cheated and had a small bowl of soft serve ice cream. I didn't want to leave the restaurant because I don't get to see him that often, and we were having a good time talking. I was thinking that having the ice cream would just prolong our dinner, which it did, of course. But I could have had more salad or sumptin'.

Gonna go and see if anyone is on chat.

Good morning, friends! Thanks for all the help answering my questions about microwaving.

Serene, I appreciate your looking for information. Let me know if you find anything, 'K?

Jack-K, you are such an encouragement to me! You have accomplished so much on this WOE and it is a HUGE incentive to me to just watch those pounds fall off you!!!...and thanks for your input on the microwave thing...I am still struggling with this major overhaul in my cooking habits but I'm sure it will work out.

Quilter, HI! Good to meet you, too! I am enjoying getting to know each of you as I read all your great encounters with life. Each account of something that happens in your life has helped me apply stuff to my own life. Thanks so much for all the time you and everybody is taking on this board -- for people like me who can only pop in a little while each day, all of you mean so much to me!!!

Gracious, CONGRATULATIONS on those four more awesome pounds! Wow, girl! You only have another ten pounds to go to goal! I CAN'T WAIT TO BE IN YOUR SHOES!!!

Now, Debbie (Debelli), for responding to your rough time this week. I know, I am new to this gang, but I have been reading your fabulous input and monitoring of this board since almost the beginning of my joining the SB WOE and I gotta tell you, you have been the rock of Gibralter yourself through the months and years!!! O.K., now you are having a tough time...so you're human! Actually seeing you struggle has ministered to me in a way you couldn't have in any other way! I see that I must expect temptations like this (as we all do with every WOE) because if you have been tempted, as strong as you feel with SB, I know to expect it myself! You are so right -- all of us have and will again go through what you have been going through. We are all very familiar with what you are experiencing.

Debbie, I have been through losing weight and regaining it all my life. I lost 110 pounds on Weight Watchers in the EARLY 80's...do you know what I went for the very first day I was on "maintenance" with them? Oh, well, CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!!! Did my eating habits change? Nope! I thought I could handle eating those cookies again...I was at goal weight! But I couldn't handle it and that very day began gaining all my weight loss back and then some! That's where I am as I come to SB today! But things are different this time...I believe with all my heart that if I had used SB in the early 80's to lose the weight, it would still be gone. The difference is the change in attitude toward the food that goes into our mouths. Like you, Debbie, you expressed being worried to death that you would slip like this and never look back, gaining all the weight back that you have worked so hard to lose.

You're not going to do that, Debbie! You've worked too hard and you have all of us to help you never do that. So you had a bump in the road. Maybe the best thing is to look back at that, say "Hmmm, that tasted good, and that, and that, but now I have had my fill of it and I don't want any more...I sure don't want IT as badly as I want to stay healthy, thin, and feeling better than I have ever felt in my life!"

Good luck to everyone weighing in today! I just know I'm gunna see some fabulous losses...and I'm looking forward to seeing many of y'all encourage our leader. She's been there for us all this time -- now we can be there for her!

Morning all!

The taping went well yesterday. The vidoe clip may be posted on the AFRW website in a couple of weeks--I'll give you the address if they do. I think they were using like 8 or 9 cameras!!!!

Gracious--Congrats!!! Whoo Hoo on the 4lbs! Thanks for your encouraging words. I didn't realize y'all were out there in the bush--sounds gorgeous.

Gator and BOB--OK, on behalf of the ENTIRE SB board--NO ONE is buying those poormouth routines. Y'all will play on Saturday and one will win and one will lose. One of you will lord it over the other for the entire next year. OK? We are on to the both of you!;)

Kim--Cool about Collinsworth and the football! I hope it raises a lot of money for you.

JRed--hang in there while you are busy with your class. We'll be here when you get back. Have fun writing those papers.:s:

Wendy--Happy Birthday!!!!!:hb: :gift: :grouphug:

oops belle has climbed into my lap for her mornibg snuggle. i am typing one-handed.

Deb--you better count those beans! just get right back op--you'll be ok.

gracious, Way to go on the 4# loss!
:cp: :cp: :cp: :cp:

I'm up 3.5 #, due to being bloated once again. I won't get upset about it since I know the reason. I have been eating OP, so maybe next week will be better.

My day started off by being woke up by my Mom screaming in the shower. She had started to fall but was able to grab on to something, twisting her knee in the process. Scared me to death needless to say. She went to work but the knee is hurting.

Got a call from Tranquil right after that happened and she was at the hospital. Her DS, Zach, woke her up at 4:30 am, doubled over in pain, with a high fever. She rushed him to the hospital near her house, then he was transferred to the childrens hospital. It is possibly his appendix but don't know for sure yet. He was very dehydrated and had to be put on an IV. I am going to the hospital as soon as I can shower and get ready. I will check back in when I can and maybe will know more.

fillise - thanks for the birthday wishes. Hopefully the day will get better and nothing else will happen.

Good luck to everyone weighing in. I'm off to the shower.

Take care,
Wendy

Happy WIW Everyone. Hope the scale is good to you today!:D

Most importantly: Wendy, HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.... Hace a great day. Stay away from the cake. This is the only one you can have.:hb: :gift: :hat:

I am doing the  :dancer: today. The scale was down 3 lbs. But best of all I'm in a new set of numbers. :cb: That is a good feeling. Now to chip away at those numbers.

Gator, thanks for the exercise tips. I guess we'll have to wait and see on the game.

Toni, Feel better soon. Get some rest.

Bob, What's THAI rice? My DD & SIL2B are going to the KY-TENN game.

Deb, Thanks for the web site. I'll check it out. What are we going to do with you? Why would you even think about eating those cookies? Remember, when you binge eat because of the scale, that scale is only going to go up, that's going to depress you more.First of all, you are only human. Everyone falls off now and again. You can control this. You better than anyone. In fact, you scare me to death. You are making me so afraid to cheat. I'm with you on once you cheat it will go haywire. I may have an extra glass of wine, or a piece of somethng breaded, but as far as sweets or potatoes. No way. I'm afraid I will never stop once I start. So I just know I can't go there. Every diet says, you have to change your eating habits or the weight will come right back plus more. We all know that is true. SB is the only diet where I have actually changed my eating habits. Even with WW, I lose and then I quit counting points and go right back to my old ways. I know with SB I can prevent that. Not to say that I won't ever eat cake again, but until I learn MODERATION (and that will take some time) I can't trust myself. I think it is a great idea to hide your scale. Let your body be your guide. Sit down and have a long talk with yourself and us. Clear your mind of hidden problems and guilt and go on with it. You are the queen of SB. You can do this easily. Rely on others. Tell your DS not to let you eat bad things. Don't try to do this by yourself. Tell Eli to stop bringing choc coffe beans home. Get on here the next urge you have. Call someone. Call me. I'll talk you out of eating it. Sending many {{HUG}} your way.

Debyj, Glad your tooth problems are better. That dinner didn't sound too soft?

Jred, We will miss you while your gone. I can't imagine going back to school now. It would be tough. Stay OP while your away. Come back soon!

Quilter, How exciting meeting Chris Collinsworth. I watch him every Sunday on the sports show at noon. (My DH watches it to see Gillian) LOL. BUt I hear he has left the show to go to ESPN. He was good on there. That should bring some money for you all. Great on your eating. Glad the no-carb thing worked so well for you. I was worried about carrying the weights because of my carpal tunnel. My hands go numb so quickly. But they haven't bothered me yet. I figured I could lay them under a bush somewhere and pick them up on my way back if I had to.

Gracious, How awesome. 4 lbs. You are only 10 lbs from goal. You are an inspiration. Keep up the good work. I'm dancing with you.

LKF, Good response to Deb, I agree with you 100%

Fillise, I agree with you, Gator or Bob will be gloating for a long time. I think they are playing coy. Have a great day.

Hope the scale is good to everyone today. If not, hang in there it will come off.

Tranquil- I had a wonder time chatting with you and Serene last night. Something happened to my computer and it just kicked me off and I was unable to get back on. Sorry if you thought something was wrong. :) I'm praying your son is going to be okay. I hope you don't have to miss the party.

Gracious- Congrats on your wonderful lost. You are doing great!!!

Hi all!!!:)

I'm back again attempting to catch up on posting.

Welcome to DebJ, Ladykwak, Dazzles and Thunder1. This is a great place to be and great encouragement and support.

Fillise- You are doing great. Keep up the good work.

Jack-k- You go girl. Iam so proud of you. Wow another 3 Lbs.:cb:

Music- I hope ypou are better today. I hope everything works out for you. Hey we all get down sometimes.

Serene- I hope you and Tranquil don't get BOB in to much trouble

Deb- I know how you feel. I had a 7lb gain overnight. I have been Op everyday, drinking water, and exercising. I was really getting down. Then at chat last night I mentioned I was on meds for a bad sinus infection I am fighting and Serene and Tranquil informed me those meds can cause retention. I felt so much better. I was about to give up. Deb you are truly and inspiration, because this morning I was going to eat something not OP but after reading your post I didn't because like you said it is not worth it and it only adds to th e problem so thanks for helping me. It's great to have these boards were we can be honest and gain support.

Debj- I hope your mouth is feeling better.

Quilter- Hi. How are you glad to see all is going well.

Well I hope everyone has a wonderful day and Hello to anyone I have missed.!!! :)

Mornin' y'all. Today is a better day.:) Thanks for all the encouragement to get out of my funk. Yesterday was another bad day. James lost his glasses and that set me off. Once I get mad I have trouble getting glad again. Anyway, we did find them later. I've decided that my med may need to be adjusted.

WIW was not bad today. I'm up a lb from last week but TOM is here and I am like Mrs. Puff on Spongebob. For those familiar with that cartoon you'll relate. I'm not too worried about that pound cause I know what it's from. I expect it to be gone by next WIW.

Welcome to all the newbies. You'll find a wealth of information and encouragement here.

MERCY: Thanks for your good wishes. It's been a long time since I've been that down. The hormones must have been really off this month.

SERENE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY:gift: Hope your mom is OK. And let us know about Tranquil's DS.

JACKIE: Woo-hoo!:cb: Way to go on losing those 3 lbs.

GRACIOUS: A big round of applause for your loss too.:cp: :cp:

QUILTER: Thank for your words of encouragement. I'm better today. But you know the non job thing has gone on forever. I keep looking for that light at the end of the tunnel. Hope it doesn't turn out to be a train.:eek:That's too cool about the autographed football. I talked to my brother last night. He lives in Houston and is the assist. sports editor for the Chronicle. Anyway he's traveling with the Houston Texans this year. I guess that's OK since he gave up on the Cowboys a loooong time ago. I haven't tho. They're still my 'Boys!

JEANIE: Good luck on going back to school. I glad I did that B.K.--Before Kids. I don't think I have enough brain cells left to go to school.

DEBYJ: Hope the tooth is better. And welcome aboard.

Gotta go. The stomach says it's time for lunch. Y'all have a great day.

Good Morning, Everybody.

Can’t go any further without saying HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SERENE!!!!! Your day doesn’t sound like it’s started out too well, but knowing you, all that won’t dampen your spirits. Hope your mom’s knee is not a serious twist. And thanks for letting us know about TRANQ’s dear son. God love him. That has to be really uncomfortable. Anyways, thanks for trying to help me get on the chat last night. Paul has figured out the problem, so I think I’m free and clear for next week. I just have to go in under a different OS through Netscape. Did I miss anything good last night? You and DEB spent so much time with me that you probably missed a lot of good stuff.

WIW REPORT: Scale showed me at 186 which was the lowest I had been in the past few months. I knew it would take weeks for me to stabillize at that number. Now my goal is to must get past 185 and get in that next section of 180-185. Baby steps!!!! Here’s what I have to say and I hope you will forgive my rambling. I feel SOOOOOOO much better eating like I’m eating now. I remember back around the first of the year, I was so out of control with my eating and I was so uncomfortable. I couldn’t sleep at night because I had heartburn and upsets in the nether regions. So I was tired all the time. Then when I did sleep I would wake up because my hands would be asleep. And I’d wake up and have to shake the needles away. Well, since I’ve been eating less and eating the proper foods, I no longer get that hand falling asleep thing anymore. That is so cool. I was seriously getting nervous that it was because I had something really wrong with me. Poor circulation due to what???? Well, how about due to stuffing myself with all the wrong foods!!!! Also, I haven’t gotten into any smaller sizes yet, but my clothes feel much more comfortable. And while I’d like to be fitting into smaller sizes, I must, must, must keep telling myself that this is NOT a race. And the smaller sizes will come. My commitment will make it so. So I continue to pray to keep this healthy mindset. You all are such a humongous part of keeping me on track. For that I say THANKS!!!!!

GATOR---Glad to hear you had a good dinner with your DS. Times like that are so special and it’s natural to want them to last a lot longer. Soft serve ice cream???? Well, just dust yourself off and have a sf day today!!! No problem when it’s just a one-time occurance.

GRACIOUS----Consider yourself KICKING BUTT!!!!!! Four pounds is awesome and I’m so proud of you. WTG!!!!!! Fantastic!!!!! Whatever you are doing is really working. Give us specifics as to what exactly are you doing. I want details. I want to be like you!!!! BTW, I’m doing the Happy Dance for you.

LKF---You are so right! We all get on here and just talk about our days and our lives. But there is always something that comes across that will help somebody else. The positive influences within this group are phenomenal. I started SB back in January of 2001 and did really well for a while. Then had part of my thyroid taken out and here came all that weight I had lost plus more. This was very depressing for me and I was so embarrassed. I was MIA on the board for quite a while and I was even starting to doubt the SB program. Mainly because I wanted an excuse to eat all that bad food. Well, in June I met BKM (Big Knight’s Mom) when she and her fam came to Cincinnati. Without even trying she really influenced me to go back to being a true SB. Then that very same night (I don’t believe in coincidences) DEB called and we talked for over an hour. Man, that was so great. Those two wonderful women cleared my head and helped me realize what I had to do. The next morning I got up and said, I’m going to try and eat a SB legal breakfast. I did. Then I just tried for lunch. And that went okay and I’ve been on the wagon ever since. No white potatoes, no sugar, no white flour. The only thing I’ve allowed myself has been the occasional alcoholic beverage. But that’s not too often. And when I do drink I try to limit it to red wine. But then with this hot weather those cold beers are extra good. So anyways, I am rambling, but I just wanted to tell you a little bit about myself and also affirm to you how wonderful it is to be part of this board.

FILLISE----I can’t wait to see the video. How exciting! Be sure and give us a link! My boss hates to be videotaped and to have her picture taken. I wish she’d get over it, because it would mean more exposure for us. So I really admire your for going ahead and being part of the filming. Very great of you to do that!!!

JACK-K----Way to go on the THREE POUND LOSS!!!!! Awesome!!!! I’m dancing right now for you and you can bet it’s hard to type whilst I shake my bootey. We used to call it breaking a zero in Weight Watchers. Really puts a whole new spin when you get to a new set!!! LOVE that feeling. I meant to ask Chris C what he was doing now. I could have sworn I heard him calling a game on Fox the first week. But maybe I was wrong. I got so flustered at meeting him, I couldn’t speak. I did get out my name and shook his hand, but basically I just stood there. Oh I did get a sharpie marker for him to use in signing the ball. Since he’s still coming to the Fox station on a regular basis, I’m wondering if he’s really going to ESPN. We usually watch the ESPN guys before the games on Sunday. They are so good and funny. I have a secret crush on Sterling Sharpe. He’s such a snappy dresser. Good plan on the handweights. Do you just walk in your neighborhood? We have no sidewalks on our street by all the surrounding streets have sidewalks. I really need to get out there and start walking. Our neighborhood isn’t too bad. I think if I took Miss Maddie I’d be safe. I’d really like for DH to go with, but his schedule is kind fo weird.

Well, the reason I’m posting now is because I’m home today. There are a couple of guys working on one of our chimneys. The top bricks were coming apart and the guys who are going to paint our house suggested that we have all that fixed before they paint. So I’m kind of cleaning the house. Just unclogged the bathroom tub drain. That’s such a pretty job. LOL. Take care! Have a GREAT day.

He has some great advice even for adults.. I like his programs so far..

CONFESSION TIME:

Thanks to everyone who congratulated me on the 4 lb loss but I better clarify something. My signature on the bottom of my posts was true in June, but after some eating exploits the rest of the summer I was back up to 180!

In any case, I started back on track there awhile ago, remember when I got all motivated again? Well, I am 169.5 now so I am feeling so much better about being back in the 160's again. Technically, I am counting myself as 170 today because I want to work with full pounds. I am rounding up. Can you believe that? :yikes: I used to round down but I am being a stickler now.

So that makes me 16 lbs from goal. Not too too shabby but not 10 lbs from goal like my signature says. My goal was to make my signature true again..and I am nearly there..6 lbs to go!

**big sigh of relief** There, I feel much better having confessed that to all of you.

SERENE- HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!! Sorry to hear it was off to a bumpy start. I am praying for TRANQUIL and ZACH. Hope your mom's knee is okay as well. Oh my...someone better give you a really really good gift today! {hugs}

JACK-K- You are grooving as usual girl!

MUSIC- Glad your funk is not as bad today. Financial woes can be so draining. I am with you on that one. Still no babysitting job for me and none on the horizon. Everyone is set up already and my *employer* is still unemployed too. We are cashing in bonds to pay for the kids school now and we really didn't want to do it. But, I still look at it as God's provision. {hugs} to you too.

FILLISE- Yeah, I am practically a hick now. The transformation to rednecker will be complete when I get myself an ATV and a rusty pick up truck!

ok..gonna try to post, let's hope I don't freeze.

QUILTER & TONI- We were posting at the same time. Congrats to you two as well! I don't want to give details because I am not following SB right now. **runs for cover** I have cut back on my carbs in a serious way, it was the only way to give myself the boost I needed. It is obviously working but is very extreme. I just didn't want to be more than 10 lbs away from my goal by my 1st anniversary of lc/SB.

Well, I'm up a pound from last WIW-227. I know all too well what it's like to put on several pounds overnight. Monday, I was at 231:o But I knew that it was mainly fluid. I guess this pound that is still here is the "real" thing, lol. I was really bad Sunday, so I have nobody to blame but myself. Also, bad carbs make me retain fluid big time. You would think I would stay away from them by now. My personal mini goal is to lose 6 pounds in the next 2 weeks. I know I can do this if I stay comitted and don't cheat.

Kim (The Quilter), what a great "testimony" you gave of how off the wagon you were and then absent from the support board, only to hear from BKM and DEB who encouraged you back to SB so gently! Wow!!! I am so glad you came back -- for your sake and all of OUR sakes...every day we can get on-line, we are able to encourage each other to stick with the only program that works and works for life!

Toni48, thanks so much for the encouragement you gave me, too. I look at your accomplishments and look up to you as my model of how I want to be. This is true of all of you! Oh, we are all of us going to fall off now and then, like our dear fearless leader, Debelli (see her e-mail of discouragement earlier) but as we all rush to her aid and hold her up with lots of words of help and encouragement, we are all able to help each other when the need arises. I love it! And I already love all of you!!!

Thanks so much for all of the wonderful birthday wishes. It really helps make my day seem brighter. It hasn't exactly been the happy day that I had hoped for, but "stuff happens" and I guess we just have to make the best of it.

An update on Tranquil's DS: It was the appendix as suspected and he will be having surgery this afternoon, as soon as he can be worked in to the OR schedule. He is comfortable and ejoying his room. It is private with a beautiful view of the river, has TV and VCR, nintendo and lots of attention from the nurses. It is a wonderful childrens's hospital. I was there for a while and am now at Tranquil's house getting some clothes and personal items together for her. She will be staying at the hospital for the next few day with DS. Though I'd get online long enough to give an update.

BOB - Looks like we won't be able to make it to Orlando this weekend afterall. I was looking forward to meeting you, however, I know we will have another opportunity in the near future. The most important thing is that Zach is going to be OK.

I will be at the hospital a lot, but will be checking in to give updates. I will tell Tranquil of the many prayers and good wishes from everyone.

Take Care,
Wendy

Afternoon,

Going to get my nails done and then grab a quick bite and head out to bunco. I always look forward to our bunco club. Such a hen fest, but I guess my sore throat has blossomed into a full fledge cold. Runny nose, stopped up ears, coughing and sneezing. Really just feel like going home and vegging out on the couch. Oh well. No rest for the wicked.

Mercy, It was fun chatting with you last nite. I really enjoy the chat thing. Never have done it before SB. Have a great day.

Music, Glad you are feeling better today. Sometimes those funks come along and we don't know why. I had one too Sat. Probably a woman thing. YOu'll kick that pound by next week, probably in a day or two.

Quilter, Sorry you couldn't get into chat last nite. We missed you. I just loved reading your post. It was so "from the heart" and full of wisdom. I have problems with my hands going numb at nite too. Or any other time I hold them in the same position for more that 5 minutes. I believe mine is carpal tunnel. Eating right has not helped it for me. You are right baby steps. That is the safest and best way. We just get so impatient at times. Those clothes will be bigger before you know it. I'm glad you have recommitted and are doing so great. I know Chris C hasn't been onthe Fox show the last 2 weeks. I really hope he comes back. It was a good mix of people together. My neighborhood has sidewalks, but I walk in the street because it is dark and I would trip over the uneven sidewalks (not very graceful). You can buy do-nut weights to slip over your hands so you don't have to carry the wts. I think I would rather be at work than unstopping the drains. Have fun. Keep up the great work. We will have to meet sometime soon.

Toni, Hope you are feeling better today. Hey, you are supposed to be waiting for me to catch up with you. You just keep losing and getting further away from me. I guess I'll just have to work harder.

Gracious, They say confession is good for the soul. You probably already lost more wt just getting it off your chest. LOL You will get rid of those 6 pounds before you know it.

Heartmom, I'm pulling for you. I know you can lose those 6 pounds. Stay OP and get a little exercise and it will be gone before you know it. You can do it.

Serene, Thanks for the update on T's DS. Hope the surgery goes well. We are keeping him in our prayers. Take her some food to eat too.

Debyj, Jump right back on that wagon before it gets away. Have a great day.

Have a great night everyone. See ya tomorrow.

Hey All:wave:

Won't be able to get in a post other then this short pathetic looking one today, but I can assure you, be ready for a super duper one tomorrow, unless something unforseen takes place between now and then. BUT, I did want to say, tomorrow, I am bound and determined to be back OP 100% without incident and for the long haul, with the determination I had when I first started SB. I have eaten so much crap today to the point I feel sick, bloated and like I've gained 20lbs during the course of the day-and I'm not finished. I made my cheesecake (one wonders why I would make something SB LEGAL when I'm cheating like there's no tomorrow, but if you've never tried it, you wouldn't believe it, it tastes better than any regular cheesecake you could find, at least I think so), and Lauren is making my most favorite cookies in the world for the meeting tonight and you can be damned sure that I will be partaking in enough that I won't be wanting them for a good while. I'm getting this out of my system today because tomorrow, that's it, no more pussy footing around, I'm going to be back and driving that wagon back to the Detox Dungeon and gassing that baby back up for all those who I need to pick back up and whip back in to shape along with my own arse! See, I'm in to self sado-masochism:s:

Quickie, I did speak to Sabrina, and Wendy as well, and Zach is probably now in surgery at the time of this post. I'm hoping to hear an update this evening. As Wendy said, thank goodness this didn't happen while they were in the UK, where they are going in about 2 weeks! I thank G-D that Sabrina and Wendy live so close together and are there for one another in so many ways. Here's hoping everything goes well with Zach's surgery and recovery as well.

Toodles

Deb

Have a great evening everyone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WENDY! :hb: :gift: :hat: :cp:
So sorry to hear of all the unexpected events of the day, but so very sweet of you to give your day to Sabrina & Zach They are blessed to have you as a friend & so close to them too. Please extend my prayers for a quick recovery for Zach. But it sounds as though he was enjoying the room! Tomorrow won't be as enjoyable for him, but good to know that they were able to get to the root of the problem so quickly.

Been working long hours, so I won't be on the board much this week, but wanted to just say hello & bring birthday wishes to wendy.

WIW was ok, still at a stand still at 133, but I'll take it!

WIW brings me down to 165.5, that's -1.5 from last week and .5 before I reach my 1st goal of 165. For clarification, I enjoyed the benefits of SB for almost 2 years before I plumeted and regained about 12 lbs back. The past is the past and besides knowing that a low glycemic diet is the only way for me to be happy and healthy, I have restarted the weight loss process, but I'm setting goals in small increments as my life with RSD has taught me. 170/165.5/165 (1st goal)

Happy Birthday, Wendy

Tranquil, I'm sure Zachary's surgery is over, my thoughts and prayers are with you and yours may he heal quickly.

Debelli, Deb, my friend, you actually flew to California to meet me and Nance, to inspire us and be our friend, during these past months of major turmoil and change in my life.......who was still inspiring me....you.......why...because you lady, are a awesome human being (that's right I said human ~ mistakes occassionally happen even to the best) and no matter what life has to hand you remember it was you who began this journey towards a better, healthier life, it was you who showed so many of us why sugar is so addictive and powerful, and you who have all of us here for you with open eyes, ears, and arms to read your posts, hear your phone call, and hold you in your time of need. From a person who plunged into the abyss of sugar looking for relief, something to sooth me, know that it just doesn't work, it only succeeds in making you feel worse later on. I subscribed to Hazelden for their daily emails, some focus on 12 step, others on life, all of them on taking care of yourself...they are helping me on the days I just want relief from it all, the give me my reality check. Let me know if you're interested.

Hugs to all,
Ldblond

I leave early tomorrow morning for the church retreat in Montreat NC--so I won't be one the board for the rest of the week. They won't let me take the laptop and I'm having to sneak the cell phone in (that goodness for the vibrating feature). I'll be back Sunday--but will probably wait until Monday morning before I get back on the board.

I hope everyone has a good Thurs and Fri--and a Great weekend.

I'm sorry I won't be around to watch BOB and Gator as their teams square off on Saturday.

I hope Zach has a quick recovery! What a scare--but those youngins do recover a lot faster than us oldens.

I'm sleepy and still have to pack. My living room is full of coffee makers and toilet paper for the retreat. How restful is it when you are in charge of all the logistics????? At least my mom will be driving up to meet me tomorrow!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Just a peek in. I had a funny story to tell, but now, after reading everyone's posts: I CAN"T REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS!!!!!

Got my first paper done, and now I'm collecting objects for an "all about me" bag.

WIW: Up 3 pounds, but i'm bouncing around because of mid-cycle woes.

Sabrina: Prayers for your son's quick recovery!

Gotta go get my beauty rest. Take care, friends.

Happy Thursday (1 more day):)

The cold bug has taken over my body. My head is stopped up, ears hurt, nose is running like a river, throat is sore, stomach is upset. I don't think I shut my eyes until around 4 this morning. :tired: Needless to say I didn't get my walk or workout in. Maybe later, maybe not. Popping vitamin C like crazy. Just want to lay my head down. It feels like it weighs 100 lbs.

Went to bunco last nite. I have such sweet friends. She had made some mexican roll-ups on ww tortillas so I would have something to eat. I always pass on the desserts and she had bought a SF apple pie and NSA ice cream for me. I'm sure the pie had cornstarch or something in it I shouldn't eat, but I was not going to hurt her feelings. So I had a piece of pie and did not eat the crust and a dab of ice cream (since I have indulged in too much NSA ice cream lateley with this sore throat):s: It was really good. I thought it was sweet of her to think about me.

Tranqui,l Hope Zach is recovering today. I imagine the surgery today is a lot less invasive then years ago. I'm glad Serene is there to help you through this.

Deb, I'm glad you are driving the wagon. Hope you got everything out of your system yesterday. I'm sure you will be fine and get back down to your cushion soon.

Deb, How in the world do you print the smilies?? I have tried print screen and everything. There is no print option on the screen.

Melf, 133 is a good place to be standing I think. Congrats. Don't work too hard.

Idblond, Congrats on 1.5 lbs. Setting small goals is a great idea.

Fillise, Have a great retreat. Those are always so refreshing. Enjoy.

Jred, Put your SB book in your "about me bag" or a baggie full of sugar. Sounds like a fun project.

Have a great day. It is going to be crazy here today, :stress: try to check back later.

Ldblond, you are a treasure! What encouragement you offered Debbie...at a time when she needs it most. She'll get back on the Board soon and catch up with all that was said to encourage her and she'll be more fired up than she ever was!

I am finding that having all of you as my new friends is a huge encouragement to me every day and I just want to say THANK YOU to each of you again...I can feel all blue and down (my small pharmaceutical company in Birmingham, Alabama had to lay off nearly half of our staff, which is like one big family) and get on the Board with y'all and feel better right away. What an enormous thing that is! In the midst of anything going on, I can get on-line and spend some valuable time with you all! I don't have to wait for a specific time in the week when we gather -- you are all there any time. That's FABULOUS!

I'll be back on later...meanwhile, everyone have a good day and enjoy the progress we are all making together toward a new and beautiful US (outside, anyway -- you are all already beautiful inside!)

Just a quick note to say hello before leaving for the hospital. Zach's surgery was without any problems and he now has a color picture of his appendix to show off when he returns to school. Sabrina is doing well and is very relieved now that the surgery is over. Deb talked to her last night so maybe will give a more detailed report when she makes a post today. I won't get back to the computer until some time this evening.

I've printed all the posts from yesterday for Sabrina to read. I thought she would enjoy seeing the many prayers and good wishes that all our wonderful friends offered for Zach.

I wanted to say thank you for all the very sweet birthday wishes yesterday also. Everyone's thoughtfulness really helped to brighten my day.

I apologize for not being able to respond to everyone individually at this time. I will do so tonight or in the morning.

Take Care,
Wendy

Jack-K: Thanks for the idea about the SB book!

I remembered the story: I finally made the crustless cheesecake and it is truely a wonderful thing!!! I brought a slice to school and let the ladies at my table have a taste. They couldn't believe it was any different from regular cheesecake, that it was sugar-free. One said she wanted the recipe and I told them they couldn't make it! Then I explained about the agave. I haven't been able to find it here since the shortage. I don't want to share my agave with anybody else. :s:

I am so far behind this week. But I did read the post this morning. Jack-k..I hope you feel better soon. Wendy thanks for keeping us updated on Zach...praise God he is doing better now. Love and hugs to mom and son.

Deb...I can relate more than I would like to admit....my downfall was chip day...I wanted those lovely salty crunchy goodies and I dove in head first...:dizzy: I was thinking the whole time I was stuffing without breathing that they were a no-no....and you know what was so bad..I didn't care. Of course I did the second I came up for air. The weight is not up but the emotional let down of falling so far off plan is there. My first year was sooooooooo easy...the last 6 months have been such a struggle since my first major cheat...ugh..oh well, I'll join you on that wagon and get things back inline. I'm not a bad size now but I don't want to settle. That's what I was thinking at the sink last night...I had settled because everyone was telling me how nice I looked and I could still have little cheats. But I don't want that. Healthy and slim are my true hearts desires. Sorry I didn't mean to ramble on.

Jred...I'm glad I bought a bit of agave and have only used it twice. Now, I'm afraid to use it incase I never get anymore..lol

Well, the kids are starving so I'd better get. I'll hopefully check in later this afternoon so I can keep from getting 4 pages behind again.

Love,
Crystle

CountryMom4Him, you've lost 80 pounds since you started SB! How absolutely AWESOME! You spoke of the first year being so easy but that the last 6 months have been a struggle since your first major cheat. Was it because you got the taste of things you had so missed? Why do you link the last six months' difficulty with that first cheat?

I'm trying to anticipate what to expect. I know we are all different but since starting SB 8/1/02, I have felt so good. I don't want that to end and if staying really careful not to cheat is what should keep that from happening, that's what I want to do!

Thanks for the counsel in advance...pray for me!

Good Morning Everyone:wave:

Oh well, don't expect my mega post today, going to have to wait til tomorrow, sorry if I kept you all on pins and needles. ELI had gone to work this morning, THINKING he was supposed to open the store. I feel him climbing in to bed as I was waking up to get the kids up for school and thought he'd forgotten to wake up in the first place, like he'd gone to the bathroom and got back in bed, but he had gone to work only to find out, he's closing today! Soooo, he is off til later on today, which is really nice, but just screwed my day up! Oh well, I'll take the screw up:D

Anyhow, I won't be able to get in a post til tomorrow as tomorrow morning I have to accompany my sister to the baby's Dr. appt. to help with the next oldest, so sometime during the day, I'll get on the computer and as promised, I'll get that megapost on here, do or die!!

Haven't had time to read the posts, hope all is well with everyone!

Hi y'all. Glad to hear that Zach is on the mend.:) He's had lots of prayers.

Well, confession time girls. We had a big bash for our kids at church last night and what did they have but a big ole plate of chocolate chip cookies.:fr: I went totally nuts. I think I had like ten. By the time I got home I was soooo sick. Some of you may remember my experience with having a couple of siezures a while back.:faint: Well, I felt exactly like I did before I had them. I didn't do that this time, thank the Lord, but it was kind of scary. So, I am SBing with renewed committment today. This is the first time that sweets have made me feel bad. Starchy carbs really make me feel ill, but not my beloved chocolate.:yikes: Of course the test today is that it's our principal's birthday and we have all kinds of goodies in the workroom. But my mouth is :tape: I do not want to feel like that again.

Y'all have a great day. I gotta go eat lunch with my kids.

Good morning. I think one reason the last 6 months have been such a struggle is I tasted the goodies and didn't gain any weight. And I worked so hard the first year. I think I reached a place of burn out. Even though the numbers don't add up it's actually been 85 pounds..different scales..I'm on my 3 set..lol I did the first year alone..didn't join the support group until April of this year.

When I was larger I couldn't hardly tie my shoes or walk the half miles to my mail box. As the weight came off I also had to battle not slipping into starving myself which is a whole nother issue I deal with. Now I can do almost anything I feel like..except advanced tae bo..ugh..lol I'll stick with Richard. *smile* I think all those little things add up and make me complacient (sp) from time to time. I have weeks were I am so on plan it's the bomb..and then the next week if the scales don't move I get discouraged and think I might as well eat a few goodies since it's not making a difference...

I hope some of this makes sense. It's kinda wild to be looking at the emotions behind the actions.

You will do great and with the support of these ladies and gent..I think we will all pull through. And we do NOT have to go back where we came from...which is a constant thought of mine...I don't want to go through this again.

Love,
Crystle

Hi, Crystle, and thanks for all the good counsel on what you've been through and what I can possibly expect. I SO admire you for what you've done and where you are -- just look back at those numbers, Crystle, and see how they jump out at you: 235/155/140!!! I wanna be there!!! And like you, I never want to go this road again...I want to see SB as a WOL and commit to it! Folks like you are helping me do it! Thanks a MILLION!!!

I think I am a little different from a lot of y'all on the Board -- at least I think I am...see, I have always loved protein and every other eating plan I've been on, I have lost ton after ton of weight...but one thing about all of them was that I never felt like I was having enough protein and I always felt if I could have a little more, I'd be happy on the plan for the rest of my life! When I was in college (oh, that's been a long time ago now!), I was on the Atkins diet. I LOVED IT! I lost on it like crazy! Well, one day after school, my Mom took one look at my ashen face and said, Linda, you go straight to the kitchen and eat a tomatoe!" She said she watched color return to my face as I ate it...and she forbade me from continuing on the Atkins diet. BUT I LOVED IT and was losing well on it. Well, along comes SB and allows all the right kind of carbs (unlike Atkins, which IS unbalanced) plus plenty of protein!!! I think I'll be O.K. on it for a lifetime! The protein keeps me from craving sweets. I never knew sugar did to the system what it does! But I'm convinced now!

I ain't full of myself on this thing, now! I know to be warey of myself...I've got to watch myself constantly...but I'm getting pretty encouraged because I feel so good and am enjoying the "fellowship" with all of you.

More later...and thanks again!!!

I am trying to eat less of foods that include a lot of chemicals while I am also eating more nutritiously on SB and just realized that my artificial sweetener, aspartame, or Equal, is nothing but another dern chemical! Haven't I seen y'all talk on this Board about using Splenda? Is it "legal" for SB? Healthy?

Just had to jump in here with my post,

Serene, thanks for the update on Zach. Glad he is doing better. BTW, you get a "do-over" on your birthday. So you can pick another day to celebrate!!

LKF, You are such a sweetie. We all gather strength from each other and help each other in time of "need", whatever it may be. Glad you have joined us. Yes, Splenda is legal as is stevia, agave

Country, I think there is a hidden message in yours and Deb's post. Once you have that first cheat, it's so hard not to do it again. That strick rigiment of OP loses some of its zest and the cheats come easier and easier. Never before would I consider cheating, now I'm at the point of one bite will satisfy me. It has so far, but when will that bite not be enough. The moral of your story is never have that first cheat. It's got to make this a lot easier and quicker getting to goal. Someone quoted a week or so ago, "unhappiness and failure is trading what we want the most (goal) for what we want at the moment (food). I think that is so true. I'm glad you are re-committed and jumping on that wagon. You have done great and I'm sure you look wonderful. But you are right, don't settle, obtain that goal. Since we are talking about the emtions behind the actions, let me ask you or any others out there, aren't you all embarrassed or guilty of cheating in front of people who know you are doing SB? I have been on sooo many diets before that have always ended after a month or week or shorter time. Since people know how well I have done on SB, I would never dream of eating anything illegal in front of them. I would think they are thinking there goes another diet. Knew this wouldn't last. I don't want people to say that. I have friends who start a new diet every month, and I always think, wonder how long this one will last. Therefore, there is no way I could go to a church outing, dinner with friends or relatives (which my family is the worst) and eat soemthing I wasn't supposed to. If I'm going to cheat, It's going to be in private (thus the closet eater). Just curious if others felt that way or if I was just weird. I do so want to succeed on the WOE and I NEVER want to do this again.

Deb, I like those kinds of "screw ups". Enjoy your day with Eli.

Mercy, Hope you have a great day.

Jack-K, you're a sweetie, too! And what good words for Country and Deb! I just can't get over the great support we can all offer each other all the time!

I'll bet your idea about the first cheat is right on! How do the rest of y'all feel about Jack-K's thoughts? While we are being really careful with our eating on the plan, we seem to be doing fine...then one little taste opens it all up to us again. We remember how great that candy bar tasted or whatever we are tempted by. Wouldn't it be great if we just stopped being tempted and never had to face sugar and processed food again? Not realistic, huh? It's here for us to deal with the rest of our lives. The key is to stay satisfied with what we CAN have so our bodies don't crave the processed stuff.

I once had a dear friend who was a gorgeous hunk of a man -- he worked out all the time and his body was near perfect. He and his wife and my hubby and I were out to dinner together once and I was fussing about how badly I wanted to lose weight. He said, "Linda, I fight the same battle you do every day. Don't you think I want to eat all the stuff that's bad for me? Do you know what I do every time I am tempted to eat something I shouldn't? I run for the refrigerator to grab something I SHOULD have and down it real fast so I am full of IT rather than what has tempted me!" That's what we SB'ers should do! Every time we are tempted, run for something we can have and be satisfied with it.

Now for the part about not eating food off SB in front of other people -- I RELATE ENTIRELY, JACK-K! I have "started" so many diets through the years that everyone I know has watched me start at least one! In fact, I haven't told many people I regularly socialize with that I have begun SB -- I don't want to talk about it...I want to DO it and then they'll see the results and ask what is going on! Your way works better, though -- I see that now. All those people around you sorta keep you committed to the plan, don't they? If no one knows I am on SB, how can they hold me to it? I think I'll slowly start telling people I socialize with so they can, by their observation, hold me accountable.

I've rambled enough...enjoyed it!

CountryMom4Him

I don't think that's weird at all. I do have my little "cheats" in front of my family but they know I allow myself a little taste here and there. I did the whole first year. It's the big cheats like scarfing a ton of chips that I do in dark so to speak. :) But the cheats are over....anything over a taste is a waste! Not gonna do it..not gonna enjoy it...not gonna entertain the thought of a cheat...now let's see if I can do it...:D

You are my inspiration woman. You are doing soooooo good. As are many others. Everyone trying to me is motivation..(((everybody)))

Country, I don't know if this applies to you but for me, even a TASTE is dangerous! In fact, the taste would just make me want more. If I'm reading you right, you are saying "Anything over a taste is a waste" as if you are planning to taste. Right? That would be death for me! Any others have input here?

and do eat it all. More times than not anyhow.

For me tasting isn't the problem. I've always been able to just taste...my girlfriend use to tease me because I was the only person she knew who could eat a table spoon of ice cream. My problem is when I say okay..I can eat this piece of cake and get back on track....ugh....I know I'm odd...it would be better for me to just lick my finger and be done...eating the whole piece opens up something in me and I just go nutso. That is what happened on my birthday last year. I'd had all kinds of nibbles up to that point. I gave in to my b-day cake and ate 3 pieces..not a good thing. I've always eaten 3 chips since I started this plan as a treat....the first time I caved and allowed myself a portion...I went off the deep end.

I'm a terrible example to follow. :)

This is a really interesting discussion going on. Let me weigh in with my 2 cents.
I was reading several articles that I clipped a while ago and they are relevant to our discussion. First, we probably are overweight NOT because of
•lack of exercise
•brown fat cells
•heredity
•what we ate
We ended up overweight (myself included) because of our control, or rather, the lack of it with sensual indulgence. How many of us eat when we are really not physically hungry? I’d have to answer a big “I do” to that one. So I use food to fill up some other kind of hunger: to fill boredom or to handle stress, perhaps. Plus, there’s the deprivation factor. How many of us have that constant deprived feeling when we are “dieting?” Even with SB, do we still feel like we are dieting? If so, then there’s that constant under-the-surface urge to “give ourselves what we really deserve” and eat half the cake or 10 cookies, or whatever.

Here’s an article that that I hope y’all find interesting.
“See if you can picture this: It’s after dinner and you’re as stuffed now as that flounder was when you started eating it. You swear you couldn’t eat another bite. Along comes the dessert cart, and all of a sudden you have an almost uncontrollable appetite for the death-by-chocolate torte. Easy to envision? (is is for me! :) )

“It’s appetite amnesia, or “false hunger” syndrome. In other words, you have an appetite for something but aren’t really hungry for it. People who learn the difference between these two feelings may have a leg up on mastering the slender life. Eating only when you’re hungry is the easiest way to cut unnecessary calories from your life.

“In order to eat only when you’re hungry, you first have to know what “hungry” really is. Hunger is the real physical need for food--often complete with that gnawing feeling in the pit of your stomach. Appetite, on the other hand, is the desire to eat something, and often has little to do with whether or not you’re hungry. Without a healthy appetite, of course, you’d have a hard time eating enough to stay alive. But too often our appetite overreacts in response to external cues. That means you eat because you caught a whiff of Mrs. Fields’ cookies or because you passed House of Pizza. Sometimes we eat just because the clock says we should or because someone near us is. Or because we’re in a certain situation. We have popcorn at the movies, or eat fries at the mall. Or we get hungry when co-workers show up with snacks.

“Weight loss experts call this “head” hunger--eating because you want to, not because you need to. Head hunger can also be fueled by an emotional appetite. Many people eat to help invoke good feelings or to blot out negative feelings. Over a period of months and years, they repeatedly eat the same food in response to a specific negative feeling. Food assumes an unrealistic power to solve problems and assuage emotions.

“Identifying your external triggers for hunger is an important step toward eating at appropriate times.”

Then the article has a chart where you record the time of day, what food you ate, whether it was “head” hunger or not (yes or no), and finally, what was the trigger or emotion at the time of eating. This should help the triggers become clear and help us identify why and how we eat.

The reason I’ve written all this is because Debbie is having a real struggle right now, and it is something that all of us probably will face. Obviously she doesn’t want to put those pounds back on. But what is it that drives her (and us all) to sabotage the very thing we’ve worked so hard for (or are in the process of working hard for)? If we can figure that out, then maybe we’d be further down the road to lifetime ease in accepting this as not just a WOE but a WOL. Way of Life.

And that brings me back to what I believe is my major struggle: feeling like I’m deprived. It’s the one time that I can do what I want to excess and it’s still not against the law!! But, actually it is against the law--the law of nature. Because when I overeat, I don’t stay slim like I’d like to, but put those pounds on. This struggle with “I want it, I deserve it, it’s not fair that they are thin and having it and I can’t, who’s it gonna hurt” is a constant with me. Bottom line for me: I want that sensual indulgence. And that has made my weight loss extremely slow. Additionally, I don't like the feeling of hunger, so it's very easy to just eat whether or not I'm hungry. That way I won't ever have to feel those hunger pangs. More indulgence of the sensual kind!

Sorry this has been long. Just wanted to make a contribution and I hope it is, in some small way, helpful.

BTW, have been doing pretty well with the eating. Am on plan, and watching the calories. Walked today and also lifted weights. First time I’ve walked in about a week. It felt good to get back on the ole pavement.

Debbie, I hope you all don’t get drowned down there. Looks like a hurricane might be giving y’all some more wet stuff.

BOB, one of the reasons Ewe Tea will beat our butts is that our new coaches are trying to do some option plays when we don’t have an option quarterback. Here’s one of the top passers in the nation, and the coach is not taking advantage of his strengths. Is that stupid or what? I watched the coach’s TV call in show, and I was so disgusted by some of what I saw and some of his reasoning that I just turned it off.
Also watched some of Auburn/MSU. Looks like AU might have a long season too. Poor Fillise.

I've been skimming over the posts and see what a great discussion has been taking place. I wish my eyes weren't too tired to read it all in depth. My eating has been poor the last few days and I've been justifying it with being constantly on the go, or at the hospital with Tranquil. And, you know how you just have to eat :jeno: or :burger: at those hospital cafeterias! I will look forward to reading these posts later today when I've had a chance to rest and can focus more clearly.

Good news is that Zach is being released from the hospital this morning. :cp:  He is doing great and making a very nice recovery. Tranquil is very relieved and in good spirits. She has even been able to shower and dab on some make up while staying in the room with him. The make up is necessary due to the very handsome doctors :flame: that have been coming in the room quite often. It is a teaching hospital, so as many as 3 docs will come in at one time. I've enjoyed the view quite a bit myself. :o

Well, it's about time for the sun to start coming up and I haven't made it to bed yet, so this will be all for now. Catch ya'll later. I'm sure you will be hearing from Tranquil very soon.

Hello!!

Serene-i'm glad that you and tranquil got that view!! Interns are usually hot! But, you are right, hospital food sucks!! You would think that they would serve something healthy!

I"m doing okay on the plan-haven't lost any but haven't gained any. It's very hard on football weekends. DH has invited people over for sunday football-so we are grilling brauts and etc..
And i'm going to mom's for the ut vs gator game, so she will have all kinds of munchies too!! I have to indulge a little cause this time last year i was a drinking fool!! And if you are used to watching football with beer in hand it is mighty different without beer in hand. But, i'm much better for it and feel lots better!!

Hope everyone is well!!--debyj

Grrrr..my computer is frustrating the daylights out of me.

I think the discussion is very interesting too. I agree that the first cheat is the beginning of a slippery slope. I went months on lc and lost 12 lbs, numerous inches and was only 10 lbs from goal when I first cheated. It is true that I was feeling pretty good about myself. Everyone told me how great I looked, I lost 2 dress sizes and was getting a little cocky. I think that is a defining moment for many of us. When we look so much better, we are pleased with ourselves and are close to goal....

We all talk about this as a WOL - way of life- and it has to be so we can keep the weight off. But I think deep down inside we don't want it for life. We want to get to goal then eat the things everyone else eats. At least that is my experience. We *want* to be like the others around us and we do feel deprived when they eat anything they want and we can't.

The bottom line is this..we will never be able to just eat what we want..or in other words, we won't be able to eat what everyone else does. We will always have to be vigilant. We were all fat for a reason in the first place! We lacked self control and now we will pay for it always. I liken it to a Recovering Alcoholic...they say, *One Drink is One Drunk*. They never go back to their old ways and neither can we.

This is not meant to be discouraging although when I look at it some might think of it that way. I see that we must always be vigilant, determined, want it more than we want the food. We have a choice before us, to either live in a healthy manner or to give into all our sensual food desires. I choose health. I have become as determined as when I first began. I will reach my goal, of that I am sure!

Hey All! How’s it going? Just wanted to check in before the weekend gets started. We had book club last night. It was our night to discuss The Great Gatsby. We had a small group, but still had an interesting talk. We went out to supper before at an irish pub and I was legal, but I did eat the sour dough bread. It was my first piece of bread all week, so I think that’s pretty good. And I opted for the steamed veggies instead of those potato wedges.

TONI---Hey congrats on the pound loss. That’s great!!! So you’re still not feeling well? I hope you get to feeling better. I saw that same Dr. Phil show on Wednesday. What did you think of that first mom and how she would talk to and about her 8 year old daughter? I think she needed a good whooping!!! The mom, NOT the daughter!

GRACIOUS---You are cracking me up with your confession over the four pounds. Girl, you are four pounds less than you were at one time and that’s all that matters. I’ll still do the happy dance for you.

LKF---Aren’t you sweet to say those nice things? You now know why we all stay here on this board. Great support. Wonderful people!!! Good luck!!!

JACK-K---When we were growing up, we always played bunco at the family bridal and baby showers. Your mentioning of it brought back all kinds of memories. Thanks for the kind words about my rambling. I truly feel the same way about you. Your openness and honesty and kindness just touch my heart (an everyone else’s I suspect!). You have really done well to lose the excess. Keep going. You continue to inspire me!!!

JRED---Good going on your paper. You take care!!!

SERENE---Thanks for keeping us posted on Zach. You are such a good friend to Sabrina and to us. Did you get my e-card? Could you open it?

Girls, my computer is doing the weirdest thing. It’s flashing words on and off when I’m trying to read the posts. So I’m going to stop now and post what I’ve got. Then hopefully, I can read the rest later.

Have a great day!!!! Later!

Actually, plenty of those "everyone elses" shouldn't be eating what they are eating. Half our population is overweight. There probably are few people that are genetically thin. That is, they can eat "what they want" and never gain. The truth is that plenty of them probably eat normally, only when hungry, and stop when satisfied, and not filling up on sugar laden foods. So our goal is to be like them, and not like the very few that can eat junk and not show it with those extra pounds.

GATOR-Of course it is and I agree that is what our goal *should* be but face it..most of us *do* want to eat popcorn at the movies and have a piece of cake as a treat at our birthdays. We *want* to be able to go to someones house for dinner and not be worrying about what they are serving and just eat *normal* portions and not even have to think about it.

QUILTER- :) My *confession* was partially in jest, tongue in cheek, as it were. As of this morning I am 168 so only 4 lbs to go to my first goal of 164. Then I will change my signature and say that it is true again!

I also have to know what bonco is...I have no idea.

Every "Hormone Hostage" knows that there are days in the month when all a man has to do is open his mouth and he takes his life in his hands. This is a handy guide that should be as common as a driver's license in the wallet of every husband, boyfriend or significant other.

DANGEROUS: What's for dinner?
SAFER: Can I help you with dinner?
SAFEST: Where would you like to go for dinner?

DANGEROUS: Are you wearing THAT?
SAFER: Gee, you look good in brown.
SAFEST: Wow! Look at you!

DANGEROUS: What are you so worked up about?
SAFER: Could we be overreacting?
SAFEST: Here's fifty dollars.

DANGEROUS: Should you be eating that?
SAFER: You know, there are a lot of apples left.
SAFEST: Can I get you a glass of wine with that?

DANGEROUS: What did you DO all day?
SAFER: I hope you didn't over do it today.
SAFEST: I've always loved you in that robe.

The following ad was found in "The Atlanta Journal":

SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I'm a very good-looking girl who LOVES to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelit dinners will have me eating out of your hand. Rub me the right way and watch me respond. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Kiss me and I'm yours. Call 372-4824 and ask for Daisy.

Happy Friday,

I've been so busy that I forgot to post my post I had going.

My cold is better, thanks for the wishes. I stopped this morning and got som Tylenol Cold Complete. Man that stuff dried me up like a prune. My head feels fuzzy but atleast I'm blowing my nose constantly. Anyone gets a cold, get some of that stuff. Oh my gosh I hope that is not considered advertising!!!

Gator, I have read that very same article before. It is so true. I am definately a head eater. I sure don't know how to change that. If you feel so deprived can you pin point which food you are deprived of the most? Is there some way to have it only making it legal. I would say indulge in a small portion, but that would slow down your process and could trigger binges. It would for me. I can't say that I'm deprived. Sure I would like a margarietta, but at least I can have other things to replace it. My time will come and I hope I have learned control and learned the difference. Those that can eat anything and not gain, could very well be damaging their hearts, arteries, etc. They may not gain but no telling what they are doing to themselves.

Serene, What a nice benefit to being stuck in the hospital. First it was the computer guy, now it's doctors. I'd say you have have raised your expectations some. Did you get some pics???? Glad Zachis coming home. That will be so much easier for Tranquil and you.

Debyj, Take some "legal" munchies with you. Nuts, pork rinds, veggies, there are tons of stuff to eat. Don't plan to fail. You have done so good in both aspects, Show everyone that you are WOMAN!

Gracious, I agree that when we start "looking good" we get complacent. I know I'm not as strict as I was a first. I would never eat after 8 or even taste something illegal. Now I don't worry about what time it is. But I know that has slowed be down and I want to get going full speed ahead. I had so hoped to have all my wt off by my 1 year anniversary, but that has not happened. So I need to get strict again. Even though I look good, I want to look better. I do think that first cheat does us in. So my advice to everyone is don't have that first cheat. Bunco is a dice game. We have 8 ladies (2 tables of 4). You roll the dice try to get three of #1 or the first couple to get 21 of that number. winners switch tables, then you go to 2's do the same thing. You get a mark for he time you win. Prizes for the winners. Except in ours, we just sit around and talk all night and at the end we roll the dice add them up and get the prizes. Just an excuse for the ladies to get out and talk.

Quilter, Good going on eating legal at the Irish pub. That can be hard to do. Thanks for the sweet words.

I ate a can of tomato soup today. It has corn syrup in it. I couldn't help it, nothing taste good and everything I eat upsets my stomach. So I ate it. I've only had a fruit smoothie and the soup, so the lack of calories hould offset the sugar I hope.

Have a great weekend. No big plans for me. Hope to check in sometime.

Hi All: Well I have not been 100 % OP - just thought I would confess, but I am back on track today! Zach is home, he is sore, but he is bouncing back into shape quickly....he goes back to school on Monday - he is not too happy about that! But, that is what the surgeon said he could do, so he is doing it!

Thank you for all your well wishes and prayers - it has been one horrendous week and I am just glad it is going to end. I am sure I will find time tomorrow after getting some much needed sleep to read and catch up and post...

Also want you all to know that Serene was absolutely fabulous! She cleaned my house, she took care of my dog, and she kept me company while in the hospital...nobody in the world could ask for a better friend....

OK, I'm sitting here at my 'puter feeling hungry. I've had 48 oz water already, and I know I'm not physically hungry because my stomach is not growling, nor do I feel any hunger pangs at all. My mouth is longing for something to be crunching around in it, or for something sweet and smooth, like a milk shake. Why? Why am I "hungry" when I am not truly hungry? I think because I am doing something that I would rather not have to do (typing up a script for a presentation that my DH and I are doing a week from now). I'd rather be able to quit this hard thinking and work and just sit and vedge with a soda or big bowl of chips or something. But I won't. Don't worry, my girl friends. I'll be sane and act by logic rather than emotion. But, if I were at goal, or close to it, it might be harder. Am trying to think this through so when I do get to goal I'll be prepared, I hope.

Fillise, Congrats on the Plainsmen playing well. When I saw that first quarter I thought you all were doomed. BOB, congratulations in advance! You'll see what I've been talking about in about 40 minutes.

Have a great day everyone, and thanks for being there so I could "talk" to someone who understands.

Hi!

Just slipping in for a minute to say hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm trying to get things caught up at home and have several pet sitting appointments to keep me busy.

I haven't been 100% OP this weekend. It seems easier to stay off once I get started in the wrong direction. However, Tranquil and I have made an agreement to be back OP tomorrow. My dear friend is treating me to a birthday dinner at a very nice Bistro this evening. I've already decided I must have the warm, fresh bread that is served there, plus a glass of wine or two, or three. SO, one more splurge I guess!

WOW Mercy! You go girl! :cp: :cp: :cp: :cp: :cp: :cp: :cp:
Now, please share with us exactly what you are doing to lose so much weight. That is simply fabulous!

Tranquil, I am blushing at your very kind words, thank you. :o I only did what any true friend would do for another when in need. keeping you company at the hospital was just a ruse so that I could look at all those good looking doctors!;) I'm just very thankful that Zach is doing so well now.

Jackie - I see you are on to me! First the computer guy and now the doctors! ;) I hope you are feeling better from that nasty cold that you had.

I have to run get some things done. Will check back tomorrow hopefully.

Take Care,
Wendy

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!! GO VOLS!!!!!

GATOR...DEEP into the first quarter and THE VOLS have been playing well, but gave away their change for a TD...
ONE MINUTE left in a DRIVING RAIN STORM!!! ..and THE VOLS have regained possession...sure would be nice to go into the 2nd quarter with some score on the board!
So far, your GATORS are playing well, but not the team I've seen in the past...

The rain didn't deter my brother from making his weekly trek to NEYLAND STADIUM My SIL told me that he left REAL early to meet up with our COUSIN who does a big tailgate party every week..she said he got his rainsuit out, shook it free of wrinkles, threw it in his truck and off he went!
He's a real BIG BROTHER fan, so I know he will probably leave the game in time to get home for that.

SUSAN....good game for the TIGERS....I enjoyed watching it...hope you got to see at least some of it!

MISSY...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pull for my team.. we need all the help we can get! , but just in case it's your DH...tell him I said GO TIGERS!!!!
I'm tuning in to your game later...and I'll tell you in advance...I'm pulling for
THE TIGERS!!!

The HURRICANE is at the YUCATAN and will start giving us some rain late this afternoon...please...please pray this thing turns and heads into the mountains of MEXICO....this thing will be bigger than ANDREW when it gets into the Gulf...they have already said it will completely cover the entire Gulf

SABRINA...hope ZACH is feeling better today..the third day will be the roughest...don't ask me why, but it's the truth...
Are you getting some rest?

WENDY...are you TUNED IN??? I can't hear you...

DEBJ....I can hear you....GO VOLS!!!

Better get back to the game.... everyone...JEANNIE...who are your boys playing today? I saw in the USA TODAY yesterday that they are shopping for a place to have the ARMY=NAVY game...wish it was close down here...I would go...would you come?

Bob - HI!!!! Zach just went to his dad's house for some tender loving care over there while I take Serene out for her birthday dinner she never had! Taking her to french restaurant....

Gracious, Mercy - you both are catching up with Deb and JackK and the others that have melted the pounds away! I am green! but green and happy for you both!!!!

DS is sore, only to be expected, a little stir crazy - so he is happy to go to Dad's..... I got some much needed rest, went and wrote the great big catch up post - and it said I put in too many little pics - and it lost my post! So, I will try again later

Deb is busy with running kids around to movies, etc. today and says HELLO - and tomorrow she is babysitting for her nieces and nephews - so hopefully she will not be eaten alive and we will see her on the board soon! or what is left of her :)

Good night all, thank you all for your kind words and prayers - they worked!!!!

BOB: See what I mean about Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium being cursed? They haven't won at home since the Firsties were Plebes!!! And Navy was favored by 3 over Northwestern!!!. Somebody's gotta chew some butts. They have to learn to hold on to the ball. 5 turnovers - 4 fumbles and 1 interception. I haven't talked to DS, but I know he's disgusted. Gotta find out about my HOGS, now.
You better believe I'd come down if Army/Navy was there. They did play Notre Dame in Orlando 2 years ago for Navy's anniversary. We didn't make it, but the Mids all had a good time.

Tranquil: I'm glad Zach is mending. Brandon had to have his taken out in 8th grade and he ended up staying in the hospital 4 days. His gut quit working, that's what the doctor said.

Deb: Hope you are still feeling up. I'm thinking about you and hoping you bounce back full force.

FLA Ladies: Let's all blow real hard at Isidore and make him blow into Mexico. He looks scary.

Have a great remainder of the weekend. We take DH to the airport tomorrow to begin his new job on Monday.

Evening All:wave:

Geezus! I honestly have no idea where the time has gone. I really thought I'd have no problem getting in a post yesterday, than I thought for sure today, it just wasn't meant to be. I feel terrible that I haven't had time and can only tell you all that I've been on the run all day long. Morning was garage sales, came home got showered and took the kids up to Broward to see a French film, came home, Eli was here, not feeling well, made dinner (can you believe it!), Sister came over to drop my Nephew here to spend the night (mind you, Michael's friend who slept over Friday night still hadn't left by that time) she had the baby with her, and they just left shortly after BB finished. Now, I'm pooped and ready to hit the hay.

I am not walking tomorrow morning, so I'm hoping to get on and do some posting before I have to go to my sister's house. I volunteered to babysit the kids while she and my BIL go out to a movie. I may be nuts to have offered, those girls are a handful, but I'll just have to give them my evil eye:s: should they give me any trouble. My Sister and BIL haven't been out together, or to a movie, in over 15 months, so I thought they deserved a break.

I do want to tell you that I continue to be on track and in good form. Though I haven't walked in a few days this is on purpose, giving myself a break in hopes that once I start up again on Monday (wether permitting) that it may shock my body a bit back into things, who knows. As long as my eating is on track, that right now is more important to me than anything else.

Anyhow, just wanted to touch base with you all before I retire for the night. Again, I'm hoping to get on here tomorrow morning when everyone is still asleep and ELI is at work.

Nite!

BOB, I'm as surprised as you were at the outcome of the game. Actually, I'm in shock! I watched the Gators the past 3 weeks and they really stunk up the place. Our offensive line was non-existant. Tonight they weren't much better, but the difference, I think, is that Rex played a ton better than he had been. He actually did some running. But he is a passing QB, and seemed to get some of his confidence back on his passes. That int. in the 3rd Q. or was it the 4th, where UT intercepted it in your endzone, well, I had seen too many of them the past 3 games. I also think that UT made some weird mistakes. Those fumbles were costly. Maybe they were just too hyped about not having to play SOS, and couldn't get it together. I knew how UF played, I just didn't know about UT. I didn't think they would play like that. My condolences. Thank goodness it's just a game and our real happiness doesn't depend on the outcome of a game played by a bunch of 19 year olds!

My computer was down much of the evening. Not really down, but I had a partial system crash and had a friend over to fix it. He was here 3 hours, from 7 to 10 working on the thing. Looks like it's fixed.

Talk more tomorrow.

Good Sunday Morning Everyone:wave:

Well, wouldn't you know it, here, I finally have time to post a update and replies on the board, and it's down!:fr: They're doing some upgrades to the board. Not sure when it will be back up and running. (Now it is, so I'm posting this while I can!!!)

So with that, even though I can't do individiual replies, I can do a general post:D

As I mentioned in my last couple posts since Friday, I am definitely back on track 100%. I did NOT get back on track on Thursday as I had so intended. With ELI telling me at the last second he was off, I just knew that I was going to take advantage of one more day and throw all caution to the wind just this one last day, and boy, did I ever! The list of what I ate would take up lots of space. We went to Ole Ole and I ordered something different. The entire staff knows exactly what I order every time we go and the waitress says, okay, you get your salad and then she looks at ELI for his order, so I piped in, "No, today, I'm going to change!" Eli and I almost died laughing from the look on her face, you'd of thought she was going to pass out. I ordered nothing exciting, just super nachos (4 of 3 different kinds), as, for some reason, I'd been dying for them for a few months, so I had them. I even pigged out on chips (at least they're worth pigging out at this place, they make them fresh and they come warm to the table). If that had only been my single vice from the day, it wouldn't of been so bad, but I took it to the limit and just ate lots of crap I would never have if I was OP, and stuff I haven't had in 2 1/2 years.

I knew that come Friday though, all this crappy eating would be a thing of the past. I had to get back my psyched up spirit and I could definitely feel it inside of me, I knew I wouldn't have a problem. One thing that I find that gets me psyched is reading old MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY postings. There's something about the words of Ralph Mariston that just speaks volumes. I printed out about 15-17 different ones I thought really would give me some oomph and read them-for me, this works!

Come Friday morning I just knew the day would be different. I journaled each and every thing that went in my mouth and I ate perfectly. I even ate veggies AND drank my much needed water. Yesterday was another good day, though I didn't journal everything that went in my mouth only because I had some mixed meal items (like some soup I made, no way of figuring it out calorically), but all was SB LEGAL and in good portions. Today will be another continuation of beeing 100% OP, for sure:D

I can tell you that I found absolutely NO JOY in eating all I did. It not only made me feel bad mentally, that I was doing this and thus seeing a rise in the scale, but physically, geez, I could see and feel changes. You'd think that this would stop me, but Nooooo! I wish I could understand it all, but I honestly don't. I have ideas of why this took place, but I honestly don't know what took over my mind and body to let this happen. Not only did I feel heavier, my elastic-waisted pants were getting REALLY tight on me, very uncomfortable. I was hot in the house all the time and had to turn the a/c down more than ever, I was itching, nothing was there, but it was like I was having an allergic reaction, I even found my armpits would itch, something I haven't ever had happen before. There is NOTHING about this experience that I enjoyed. At the time I was eating some of this stuff (I had it all, candy, cookies, ice cream, cake, the list goes on), some of it I savored, but gosh, it's gone so fast it's like you ate it and blinked and it was gone, along with the pleasure. It's definitely true when the "experts" say that sugary foods release a flood of seratonin in your brain to make you feel good, but then you come crashing down shortly after and if you don't eat more sugary foods, you start to feel icky. I swear, you'd of thought the stuff I was eating was pure heroin and I had to get a fix every so often during the day.

Was all I ate over the time I ate it worth it-absolutely NOT! I have nothing good to show for it, that's for sure. I have set myself back, had to detox all over again, definitely gained some weight (sure does pack back on easier than I ever imagined in such a quick amount of time) felt bad psychically AND mentally, the feelings and reprocussions can go on and on.

I try to analyze WHY this happened and though I really don't know for sure, I came up with some ideas that I think may of contributed to my getting in to trouble.

When things are going well in my life and there's no upheaval, I'm just fine. I'm definitely a creature of habit, but throw something new at me, or throw in a monkey wrench that creates a problem and I find that I want to deal with it as I have all my life, with food. Not having worked for 3 years now has been really hard, not mentally, but financially. It's just getting worse and I'm going to have to find a job. I really would like to open up my own store, but you need money to make money and I don't have the money to invest. I like working for myself, I've had 2 other businesses that I've had and I know I can be successful in this one. I like being my own boss and I'm not good at taking directions from others, esp. in a setting like a large corporation, or at least I don't think I would, I've never had the experience. With having trouble paying the bills moreso, each and every month, I found myself wanting to console myself with chocolate and ice cream, mostly. Though, at first, it was in small amounts, and SB LEGAL, once I take a taste of that stuff, it continues to grow in amounts not each day, but each time it occurs during the day. I feel like they wrote that Lay's potato chip commercial with me in mind when they say, "you can't eat just one!" That's definitely me. Anyhow, I think this situation made me think it was okay to pacify myself with food.

Another reason, which I've mentioned before, is the body image problem. Here I am, at a weight I hadn't seen since I was in elementary school and the body just doesn't match the weight. Without surgery, I know I will never be happy with what I dare to look at in the mirror, without money, I'll never see that surgery. Would it make me happy if there was a Fairy God Mother who granted me this wish and I had it done, I don't know, but I sure as heck would give it a try to see!

And I think the one other thing that was bothering me a bit was that I was putting in lots of miles of exercise daily and the scale was going up, and during this time I was eating OP 100%. Even though I know more than anyone about fluctuations and how my body reacts during certain times of the month, I just lost my focus and gave in to being pissed off at the scale (really of course, at myself).

I just have to stay on track best I can. I am determined to get back to where I was. Not at 118, but within my cushion of 119-124. First though, I'll have to get back to my original goal weight. I know it's going to take me some time, I went way off track and my body is going to have to work harder to get this weight off again. It gets harder each time you gain the weight back to take it off, and it takes longer too.

I also have to find a way to handle situations like this for the future, and it's not fair to think this won't or can't occur again in my lifetime. It's bound to happen-how I deal with it, this, I will have to figure out. I just hope that when it does, I'll be much better prepared to handle it.

Having all your thoughts and good wishes made a big impact on me. I didn't realize for those 2 years that I was totally 100% OP made me make some of you feel like I was holier than though, so to say. I never imagined that. Then, when I finally had a screw up, it made me more "human" in your eyes. Oh yes, I'm definitely human, as you have come to find out. I'm just like you, no different deep down. What has happened to me can easily happen to you, if it hasn't already. As I've always said, and that I always think is worth repeating...we have to think of our weight and our weight losses as a battle. When we reach our goal weight, it's like the fat waves it's white flag in defeat and that we have won the war. We have not won the war! It's a truce and if we aren't careful and watchful to what's going on with not only us, but our surroundings, the enemy (fat) can regroup and start a war all
over again! Do we want to keep fighting the same battle over and over and over again. What have we learned to keep it from happening again? These are questions and situations we have to keep in mind and be able to handle for the future. I let my guard down and look, a mini battle insued!!!!:fr:

I have refocused and as said, back on track. Another thing that brought me back to reality was receiving my WDW MARATHON information packet in the mail the other day. I have to start training for this event and can't believe it's only 3 1/2 months away! I can't very well train if I'm not eating and feeling right, as well as carrying around extra cargo-so being on track AND getting more focused on my exercise (starting tomorrow) is going to get me back to where I was.

I just want to thank each and every one of you for sticking with me. I read all your motivating words and well wishes and that too was a major help to getting me back on track. I feel I've let you all down. It just doesn't look good when I, of all people, seem to be falling off the wagon and then take that plunge off a cliff. That too bothers me and once again, I was faced with a new problem, thus taking food to console myself. But thank you all for talking me back on to the straight and narrow.

It also amazes me, how scale obsessed I am, or should I say, WAS. I refuse to step on the scale. I'm not only afraid to see the numbers, but know that if I do see the numbers I will have another monkey wrench to deal with and I don't want to take any chances this early. I am going to stay off the scale for the next month and don't plan on weighing in any time soon. I'm going to let my clothing, fanny pack and the tape measure be my guide right now.

I hope somehow, as a group, we can come up with some answers to the reasons we seem to take 2 steps forward and one step back when it comes to weight loss. Why do we do this to ourselves. We try so hard to lose weight and we do, but what makes us cheat and thus gain back some (and sometimes all) our weight, only to find ourselves miserable once again. We have many thoughts to ponder.

Also, why I have your attention. Believe it or not, the holidays are just around the corner. This will be our 3rd holiday season on the board and for those of you who are new since then, I can tell you, from the few days before Halloween til after the New Year, board attendance drops dramatically. I know we are going to lose some of you during this time, and some of those are going to be for good. I would love to be wrong about this, but from what I've seen in the past, it's always happened. I know it's a very busy time for everyone, including myself, but if you truly want to stay OP the best you can, you MUST stay connected to the board. Some people will come back after the New Year with a hefty gain, but at least they do come back. Others will have a hefty gain and just can't seem to find their way back and continue down the wrong path. I just hope each and every one of us don't find ourselves in this position. Even if you are only able to hop on the board for a second to let us know you're still here, still doing SB, this will keep you connected to not only the board, but the reason you are on this board. During the next few weeks, as I've done in the past, we'll post some good information on how to get through the holidays. Think about what you're own plans will include so you will be able to post them, I'll be asking! For those of you who have been on this board for past holiday seasons, you're ways of staying OP or how you've dealt with the holidays will want to be heard as well-this will be an upcoming task I'll give you in a few weeks:)

This coming week I am having to work for my Mother at her office. I pray she is going to give me some $$ for doing this, though nothing has been discussed. Anyhow, after I drop the kids off at school I have to hurry back, get in my walk/run and then hop in the shower and hope to make it there before 9:30am. I most likely won't have time to post anything more than a quick "hello" as I cool down, so I hope you can understand, this coming week will be more like me being on vacation. Honestly, I'm not looking forward to this at all-it's a very boring job to do, sitting at a desk all day long doing nothing. I will be taking lots of books to look through. I will try to get in a post in the evenings, of course, depends on how much the kids need the computer, but I'll do my best to get on here as much as possible. I just didn't want anyone to think that I was MIA. I have to do this for her while they are away and while this girl who usually is there goes to DW for the week (lucky her). So please, bare with me during the next week. :^:

I think I've said enough, though I probably could of said more!

Here's hoping that those of you who are also having a hard time realize you are not alone and that none of us are perfect. We have to get a handle on the situation before it gets more out of hand and we go more astray. Don't continue to self-sabotage yourself as I did, it makes no sense and it surely doesn't make anyone feel any better. Go read some of the old MM's posts, those can truly inspire you, at least they did for me!!!

I will be back on later this evening, or tomorrow morning to start the new weekly board.

Have a wonderful Sunday-I'm going to be babysitting the baby bunch at my sisters today:fr:

DebyJ--I too have never seen Ewe Tea play like that! The Vols have always been a big powerhouse team and the Gators have just had to play top notch to beat them. So, I was very surprised at the out.come. I watched the Gators do stuff like that for the past 3 weeks, and I was astonished to see the Vols self-destruct. I know the feeling of being frustrated about how the old alma mater team plays, so can identify with your chagrin. Perhaps it just took the Gators 3 weeks to get used to the new system at UF, and they started doing just the opposite of what they were doing those first 3 games at home.

Debbie--Thanks for you post and honesty. One thing I noticed, and which I believe is possibly true for all of us: it?s not what you?re eating, but what?s eating you. And we then use food for something other than nourishment. Also, I believe that on maintenance we will be able to have that occasional piece of cake or ice cream. We only have a birthday once a year; we don?t have to celebrate something EVERY day. But for us foodaholics, when we decide to celebrate with that piece of cake, we go crazy and no longer use the cake as a celebration, but to ?fill? something inside of us that we want to satisfy. And that thing is not hunger. So, we eat half the cake, or add chips and cokes and whatever. You?ve been there. I?ve been there.

And for the scale--probably a good idea. After all, the scale is not your master. Your mind is. And right now you are smart to take the time to get your mind back in sync rather than be a slave to the numbers on a machine. It is only a measure of how well we are doing with our mind.

I hope this is not too philosophical, but, for me, the hard part is mind mastery, not food mastery.

Thanks for sharing this part of your weight loss journey. I know it had to be hard. But you are still doing wonderful. You have found a glitch and are working on it. You should be so proud of yourself. I can relate to so many aspects of your story. Be encouraged...stay strong...you can and will do it.

Love,
Crystle

SUnday evening.

Hi gang, DD has taken a break from her paper, so I can get in a quick post. I have wasted the whole weekend. My cold has now progressed into a sinus infection. My head is killing me and I can't quit blowing my nose. Those cold pills have lost their affect. At least I cansay I ahve been OP all weekend. I have hardly eaten anything. I can't taste a thing. No appetite at all.
Watch out when this is over though.

Did get up long enough to make chili and chicken salad for DD to take back to college. She suprised me and came home Friday nite. I also made Deb's cheesecake. I was going to share it with her, but she is not a cheesecake person. She had on a pair of pants she hasn't had onin awhile. She was so proud. She is motiviated. Hope she stays there.

Well DD is back so I must get off. See you all tomorrow.

Idblond, Me too, can't weight daily. Too depressing.

Gracious, Wow 3 more pounds. That is terrific. Those vacation pounds willbe gone soon,

Tranquil, So glad Zac is doing so well. What a nice treat to take Serene to dinner. Now you too stay legal.

Jred, Good wishes to DH on his new job. I hope it's not too tough on you being "single" all week long.

Bob, Those Vols just cost my DH $75. That was the only game he lost on his card. I thought sure they would win.

Deb, How sweet of you to babysit for your DS. No wonder she loves you so. Glad your eating is good again. Hang in there. I can really realte to you with the body image. I am wearing sizes I never imagined, but the saggy skin is so depressing. I keep hoping there is some way to tone it back into shape. I just could beat myself for not doing this 10-15 years ago. At least winter clothes hide it. On the Christmas situation. I never had one bit of trouble staying 100% legal last year. Made batches and batches of cookies and other sweets, never even licked my fingers. I hope I can make it this year. It is getting harder. I am ordering my dress for the wedding in a size 10. I hope that is my motivation. I truly hope we don't lose a lot of people on here. I would miss everyone dearly.

Debyj, Good job staying almost OP. Sorry UT lost, and also the Titans. I have to admit I was pulling for Cleveland. Couch is an eax Wildcat you know.

Gator, I knew you were pulling our leg. Those gators chomped those Vols. I know next week will be even worse. We are coming to the swamp 4-0, but it will be our first loss. At least visor boy is not there to run up the score. I seehe lost again today.

Hope I didn't miss anyone, I was going to go back and make sure, but I have to get off. Sorry if I did, it was not intentional.
