Hello. I had a great week, visiting with a friend. She stayed for a week and went home last night. Today, I am having a bout of fatigue, but otherwise, not feeling too bad.
Hello Auntie. Nice to see you, and welcome to our thread.
Ally - only half a pound? I could eat that as a little snack:lol: Especially if it is fudge.
Serenity - I hope that you are feeling better by now. Hopefully, the Fall will be kinder to all of us than that hot summer was.
Joanne - I hope you are doing ok. I know you will be one of the last ones to get cooler.
Anagram - How is your hubby? I hope the tests went/go well. I can't remember and now I am on a new thread. As far as weighing more than hubby - big deal! We are what we are .
Candice - Happy Birthday to your hubby. Hope you had a good dinner and a really nice big piece of cake.
Meme - Where are you? I hope you are not sick again. You just push yourself way to hard. I will find out what to do on E-Bay. Seems like an easy way to sell stuff.
Mima - I know you are happy and busy. That is a really good combo., and now I hope your allergies don't kick in.
Last Saturday, I woke up with such a sore neck and feeling sick to my stomach. By late afternoon my stomach had at least settled down. We went to Edmonton to a 50th anniversary (my aunt and uncle) and had a great time visiting with family and friends. Then picked up my girlfriend and brought her home. We went shopping, but for some reason that darn IBS was being a problem, an I haven't had that for 6 months or better; also a couple of days of fatigue, but I pushed through it; however, today, I can't do that. We went to Arby's and got the deal they had. It really was good. Don't do that too often, but it is so nice here today. It is up in the late 80's but it isn't the same as during the summer. That is what I love about Fall - cool mornings, nice warm afternoons and cool evenings. It could be Fall all year round for me. The leaves are changing and the river valley is becoming a real painting. I'll take a couple of pictures later this week.
Well everyone, enjoy the evening.:)

WHEW...lot of catching up to do with you guys! I'm in NC...have been here since last Thursday. I'm going home on Tuesday. Last Tuesday, I went to the podiatrist about the top of my right foot and ankle. He said the muscles and tendons etc. down the back of my leg, heel and foot had 'shortened'! Probably due from the
Fibro and stuff. Those muscles, etc. are supposed to 'pick up' my foot but I'm having to use the ones on the TOP of my foot and that's why they are hurting so bad. The ankle pain is tendonitis. He put a steroid shot in my ankle for that and it is some better. I still can't walk too good, though. Oh well...it got me out of going to the fair with my cousin last night...which I really DID NOT want to do!!! HA Always try to see the GOOD in everything! I've been visiting relatives, shopping, swimming and SLEEPING!!! The only bad thing is...every where I go someone has either cooked for me or they want to take me out to eat. I'm stuffed! I'm going on a SERIOUS diet when I get home! I've already emailed everybody at home and told them not to mention EATING to me when I get back!
Someone tell me more about these shoes...did you say the are new balance...or something like that? The podiatrist had me go get some inserts to go in my regular shoes but I can't wear them. The kind he had me get are just too thick and hurt my foot even worse than it was hurting already!!!
I called hubby tonight and he has found several more things the lightening ran in on back in July when my mom died. I'm not sure if I told you or not but Saturday night before my mom died on Sunday there was a really bad storm and lightening got our ans. machine, phone and elevator motor. Well...we have been so busy we never did even think to check anything in the basement rec. room. Hubby was supposed to take my keyboard to church for someone to play this morning and it wouldn't work. Then he started checking and there was a lamp and also MY BIG ORGAN. (I have a small organ and a very large Hammond with full pedals.) He said the keyboard comes on but didn't work and the organ wouldn't even come on. I don't play either of them much. The piano is in the room where I teach and everything in there was fine so I didn't even think to check the stuff in the rec room ...I was so distraught over Mom dying...it just never did occur to me! I just hope the insurance will cover it now...it has been over two months!
Excuse mistakes...I hate typing on this laptop...

Meme..I hate lightening strikes and we get hit bad every now and then:eek: The shoes I wear are the new balance 551 for walking and 608 cross training..use my custom orthotics in them.
I made the best cake and yes Yappy I had two pieces! It was a German Choc. upside down cake from WW...5pts..Yummmmmmm I had a piece of cheese cake tonite too! :o
Wish this pain would let up...the pelvic pain was better for a few days..still trying to figure out the problem..why does it come and go???????? I need to start keeping a pain journal..I have been told it is helpful ..anyone do this?
Mima...YUmmmmmmmmm choc cake! Your colon better?
I want you all to know how much I apprecitae reading your replies..so many times you have or are experiencing the same pain problems, health problems, etc. Thankyou:)
Ally........feel better and it is crappy that we have to suffer due to something we enjoy! Is "pokemon" still sleeping on the couch?
Got some more work done on my sons room while they were here :stress: Lots more to do but another day! The girlfriend came too.....to much work for company!

Ally- I was thinking the other day about why we can't eat and enjoy the foods we like. It is a shame that our bodies have to change to the point that just about everything we like is no longer concidered good for us.
Happy-We are just a little cooler lately, but, it will probably not last long. I did turn off the air and open my doors to air out some last week. I gave my stove a good cleaning and had to get the fumes out of the house.
Meme- They are New Balance. I heard a foot Doctor say once that they were the best shoes to wear. Try several different styles untill you find the one you like. If a shoe is not comfortable in the store,I don't buy it. Too bad about lighting. Your home owners should pay for the damage.
Candice- I try not to bake cakes or cookies. I can't stay out of them. But my hubby will buy them and that is just as bad. He does say that they don't taste as good as mine. I am having a struggle just to maintain, now that I am limited on exercise. I always hated all forms except walking and I can't do that as much as I need . Just the normal walking needed to get around. I have a problem keeping the knee from going out. The brace helps but not all the time. I can hardly wait for this year to end.
Hello everyone. Bye, Joanne

So...where do you get these shoes?
I just got back from lunch and shopping with my cousin and my foot and ankle is KILLING me. I have spent sooooo much money! But...I got a lot of neat fall clothes and a coat, too. Just one more night and it's back home tomorrow. I'm going to Red Lobster and eat tonight and I'm going down to Barnes And Noble and 'book shop'. My 'last fling' so to speak! HA After tomorrow it's diet, diet, diet bfore a trip to Gulf Shores in 3 weeks. Gotta lose some of this fat before I go out on the beach!!!

Meme- Do you have Lady Foot Locker(where I got mine) or just Foot Locker. Also, Sears,Pennys, Most athletic shoe stores. I have worn them for almost 20 years so I have bought them at different stores. Also they sell special socks for walkers. They are so nice! About 5 bucks a pair, but, worth it. I have osteoarthritis in my feet and need comfort.
I have been off track with my eating plan for awhile and need to get back on tract. Help,Help!!Anybody!

I wonder if they sell them in Canada. I have never heard of them, so I will have to go do some investigating. Ladies Foot Locker and Foot locker no longer exist in Canada.
Hope your foot feels better soon Meme. I have that achilles tendon and that just hurts so much. I am best not wearing any shoes at all!

Joanne, I'm ready to get back on track too. Really just been off yesterday and today but that's all it takes to go downhill........
I did have a wonderful day yesterday. It was my birthday. My son and wife came in Sat. evening and daughter and family came yesterday. We met at a club we belong to and my sister and her husband joined us. Had a nice lunch, a great bd cake. Then daughter decided they could come back to the house afterall so we had a little time here and she and her family left.
Today son, wife and I went to mother's so he could visit with his Gram and I did a few paperwork things that needed done. But I was so tired when we got back tonight even though he drove that I ended up foodwise worse today than yesterday. He's at friend's tonight and they're leaving tomorrow but it was nice to have them here. It's strange. I'm so happy to have them all come but I get SO tired. I guess I'm just used to my breaks and naps, etc. I haven't lost anything the last two weeks and really had hoped to be down another 5 lbs by our anniversary on Oct 4. I'm sure I won't make it but I would like to be down a bit more. Also I go back to dr. next week and while I'm sure I'll get kind words by being down 15, it would be nice to be down even more.
So tomorrow is shape up time. I don't want to lose all the good habits I've been working on the last several months. So, rally with me, Joanne (and any others feeling in the mood). I don't need this stuff called food to be happy. It's fall - I'm supposed to be full of life, etc. And I'm going to be. Back to exercising too. Skipped a few days of that too. And today has again confirmed what I probably knew. A good bit of my eating is social and a lot of the rest is when I'm tired. It does perk me up and I feel physically and emotionally rewarded but then later, I wonder why I couldn't find another way.
So now I want to work hard and see how much I can lose by my next scheduled binge - our anniversary followed by a wedding the next day and a few extra days that we plan to be away as part of the travelling to the wedding. Gives me only two and a half weeks. Can I stay the course that long?

:strong: I am sooooo ready! I went to Barnes And Noble and bought Dr. Atkins' NEW Diet Revolution and also an 8 week program with a journal called Staying Lean for Life...it's just movitational pages with daily journals for 8 weeks. My son just lost 30 pounds eating mainly protein. I know I feel a lot better when I eat a lot of protein so that's what I'm going to do for the next few weeks. That and eating only half of what I have been eating...a small country could survive on what I've BEEN eating for the last few days!!! Every where I've been they have either cooked or they want to take me out to eat...or they've cooked and then TWO HOURS LATER they want to take me out to eat. I asked my cousin today..."Do I look hungry or something?" She just laughed and said that's just the way my aunts are! I know that but it sure hasn't helped my waist line any...not that I HAVE a waist line anymore!!! :m: I've eaten a WHOLE 14 OZ BAG of M&Ms in the last 5 days...:stress: so...let's go ladies...let's get this fat to moving! :jig: Everyone share exactly what you are going to do for the next 2 or 3 weeks to get the pounds coming off! Here's mine:
I'm going to eat a LOT of protein, cut way down on the carbs, drink tons of water and start doing the breathing exercises again.
Whoever loses the most weight at the end of...what do you want to do...2 weeks or 3? I'm leaving for the beach 2 weeks from Friday so I want weigh in to be before that! So...whoever loses the most by then...we will say their diet works the best and maybe we'll ALL try it! I'm starting tomorrow morning. So let us know what you are going to do and we'll keep tabs on each other. :grouphug:
:rain: I just talked to hubby and he said it is supposed to rain tomorrow...and I have to drive home! UGH!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY..ANAGRAM !!!
I think you can stay the course. I just need the motivation to do the same. Everyday has been start over day. You seem to be enjoying life.
Meme You have a good idea. ..I am staying with WW. I don't go to meetings though. I have tried the Atkins way and found that I needed some carbs. Just not as many as I have been eating lately. Lack of the hour of evercise I was used to has hurt me a lot. I haven't gained that much over goal bur my thighs don't know that. You ate the MM's ,I ate a bag of pig cracklins, some cookies, etc. Not good thinking on my part. I told my son about it. He said I might start by not eating the junk food.
Happy. Try the other stores. I bet Pennys or Sears . We were in the 90's again yesterday.. As I told you it will be awhile. It is very humid now.
Hello Mima.. Ally. Serenty and Candice. I hope your week is going great for you...Joanne

It sure is hard to lose when you can't exercise. And I can really tell a difference in my thighs when I don't go to the pool much. Which unfortunately will be the case this week. Missed yesterday going to Mom's, today going to eye doctor's, hope to go tomorrow, Thursday having furniture delivered and maybe will get there Friday. If the humidity will stay away, maybe I can walk some of the other days. We're only in the 80s now as vs your 90s, Joanne, but the humidity has been high. Feels ok out there now but......they've also been supposed to repave our street. Supposed to be here Fri, Mon, today. So far no show and I had scheduled the furniture for Thursday so they wouldn't be here. Could have had it yesterday. They'll probably show up and dump asphalt just before the furniture truck arrives.
Two weeks from Friday is my anniversary so that time frame fits me well, Meme. I know I'm going out for a good dinner that night (at least I hope it will be good) as we'll be spending our anniversary travelling to the wedding (grrrrr). And for the next couple of days we'll be eating away from home. this is where dh's diet might help me. I'm trying not to pig out on a lot of things he can't eat. A sympathy diet, so to speak.
Sounds like others have some good plans for this week too and a LOT of good plans and trips for the next month or so. Trees are just beginning to turn here and we are confirmed "tree watchers" and do a lot of running around just looking for great color. Hope we get a lot this year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANAGRAM! Sounds like you enjoyed it. You CAN be really good for 2 weeks if you set your mind to it.
Joanne, once you get off program and allow all that other stuff, it seems impossible to get going again. WW did not work for me. I don't know what to do next! I am just maintaining what I lost. I am not so sure I won't give The Formula another try and see what happens. I can't do Atkins, as I can't stand all the protein and nothing else. I did hear on T.V. the other night, that now they think Atkins was right all along. Carbs are bad for our heart! As Atkins is a heart specialist, I don't suppose he would have started this diet to Kill off his patients. My Dr. went on it and lost a lot of weight. He told me to go on the Induction diet (14 days) for a quick start. He lost 14 pounds in that time. Still, when I am on it, I have no energy - hmm which is different how:lol
Everyone have a nice day.

Happy..The Formula ??? Explain.. I have been on and off WW for 3 yrs. I have not lost anymore, I guess I think because it worked so well to lose nearly 60 lbs,I think it will keep working. It hasn't. Also when I went back to the meetings and tried to get additional help ,it was a waste of my time. Lifetimers don't have to pay and so I guess that I got it in my head that they want only the paying people to get the help.Maybe I should not think this way but it was made very obvious to me and some others there at the time. Dr. Adkins made me sick. I need some carbs or I feel like I have low blood sugar. Dizzy..Also I think with high cholesterol lots of protien is not good either. I need to lose about 10 lbs and have not had any luck. I was real heavy for about 30 yrs. and I have a fear of getting back to that again. It is real easy for me to do that.
Let's hear what the rest of you guys think.. I am looking for good ideas. I need the help and motivation now...Maybe we all do..
Anagram - We might get a break from the heat.. Looks like we might have a hurricane coming our way. I am one of those crazy people who doesn't mind the rain. I am not crazy for the wind though. I hope you have a nice trip..
Mima- I hope you feel better soon. Pain of any kind is not good.

Joanne, The Formula is a diet by Gene and Joyce Daoust. It is a 40-30-30 diet, meaning you eat 40% carbs 30% protein and 30% fat at every meal. I was doing really well on it last year, and then my daughter got sick and needed surgery, so I had to put it on hold, as she was on ww and everything in her house was geared for that. This requires eating a bit differently.
Here is the website if you want to take a peak at it. It might be just what you need to finish. http://www.randomhouse.com/features/formula/
I started back at aqua areobics today, and boy am I tired. Haven't worked so hard for a long time. Will take a week to get myself back into the swing of things.
I will go take a look at Sears and see if they carry Balance shoes. We don't have Penny's in Canada.

Guess we are back to yakking!!Good!!!I lost weight once by walking every day and eating low fat. I usually eat right but I eat TOO MUCH! Going away to work next week so I have to be in a good mindset because the food is fattening and you get hungry from working straight through. I rest a lot at home. Masseuse told me I was holding my foot tense-hence pain in my whole leg . I feel achy today and I want to plant bulbs!!And get my geraniums ready to take in, It;s cool here. Went to a quilting meeting last night. Met some nice people from this area!!I'm going to make a quilt for my grandaughter for Christmas. You can't eat and quilt at the same time!!!.Be good everyone. Hi Gals and welcome Auntie
We have finallly finished the deck - finished staining this a.m.
Glad the weather has been so good in the high 80's most of the time.
Back to more babysitting - daughter has work meetings etc -= her maternity leave is over this month and its back to the old schedule. Of course with their university courses - things are busy. The kids are sleeping over every Monday night till this
semester is over.
I have New Balance and yes they are available almost everywhere that I know of in Canada. I bought them for walking outdoors in the cooler weather, when I have to wear the big thick woolen socks. I find them to be quite good. I wear Nike, Air Max , all the time in the summer. I also have orthodics to put in them.
I also find that some of the Rockport shoes are wonderful. I have
a pair of hiking/walking shoes from Rockport that I wear outdoors in the winter - they have good grip. I cannot wear boots, not enough support in most of them for me.
I have expensive feet - and would think that $100. for shoes or sandals , really cheap for me. My sandals this summer were close to $200. on sale, but they are very good.
I am trying to keep busy with my hands ie can't quilt, knit etc and eat at the same time.
Also have lots of sewing to do. Hopefully I will be able to see well enough to get some things done, I find that as long as I am working on lighter colours it is not too bad.
I went to WW this a.m. I have gained 1 lb. this past 2 weeks but that was expected as I was on prednisone again. Then the antibiotics (blame them for everything) I think, triggered the IBS again.
Other than that the fibro is not too bad and I am doing ok.
I went out with my neighbour and her mom to Bingo - first time I have ever gone. I won $100. Likely beginners luck. Her mom is in a wheelchair, so it was really to take her along that I went. It is one of the few things she can do.
We are having a wonderful fall, enjoying every minute of it. Right now we are having a reall downpour, the ground is cracked and dry even tho we had more than the usual amount of rainin Aug.
Tomorrow I plan to work on my fron garden. Wish me luck - I would like to get it all ripped out and replanted if the rain holds off.
Glad to see you are all back chatting again.

MEME...WW is working for me right now so I do not need to do anything different cause I am still maintaing! I agree with Joanne on all the stuff she said about the dieting and exercise. There is no quick fix you have to find something and stick to it;) So if you want to lose more weight why did you by new fall clothes????? They will not fit you then!:p Oh they are saying now that Atkins works better for men than women too.
Yappy.....don't send me so much mail! :nono: For some reason your attachments freeze up my puter and have to keep restarting and it takes up too much time so I can't get to the boards:eek: I can't even get back into my mail right now and I'm not shutting down again tonight........................................
Ally..my new Birks came in and they are too tight in the toe on one foot so I have to take them back. You can see that the left shoe in the toe has less room than a regular Boston and I need the room! They are black Boston Microfiber with the soft footbed. You ever try those?

Happy- Thanks for the info on the Forum. I will look into that book.
Meme. I would say you went on a Grand Binge. ! I am trying to do better although it is back to cooking two different meals . My hubby won't eat fish usually so on those days I have to cook him something different.
Mima- I have quilted most of my life. I can eat/snack at the same time. I have made from twin to king bed sized quilts several times. I think this is the first year I haven't made a quilt in several years.I have given away to family everyone except fo one. I have another one started. It will take a long time for this one. I got bored with the standard patterns and now I try to design my own. They turn out pretty good.
Candice -There is a lot of talk about Adkins. Some good ,some bad. I would never try it again.
Hello Serenty. Don't you just hate it when you are doing so well with your diet and then you have to start a medication and it messes everything up? That is one of my problems. I am on a lot of meds. It makes it very hard for me to lose.

Amen, Joanne. Someone told me once that you can put on five pounds a year on antiinflammatories. I don't know if that's true or not but it would account for a lot in my case. Plus the gains from not being able to be up and about.
Meme - I did Atkins once when it first was popular and dropped some weight fairly quickly. However after about three weeks, I picked up a kidney infection (which I've almost never had) and since Atkins was supposed to be hard on the kidneys (at least the way it was set up then), I dropped it and I too won't try it again. I know it's done wonders for some but I figured the kidney infection was a sign it wasn't for me.
Thanks for the great greeting, Candice. Your dh and I are practically birthday buddies.
Congrats on your winnings, Serenity! And on your bulbs, Mimia. We're not hot here today but still very sticky. I just turned a/c on because of humidity. Last evening, I was so hot and (almost) cranky and dh turned the fan off (no a/c on). I had to have it back on so he put a sweatshirt on. But I'm not on coumadin and must wear compression hose so I guess putting a sweatshirt on was the best solution.

Meme- I need more carbs than the Adkins diet allows. I got dizzy etc. I also have high colesterol. Large amounts of protien has large amounts of col.I got sick.
Anagram- I read that too. Protien in large amounts is not good. I also feel that although dropping weight fast is something we all want to do it is not good for us in the long run. When we lose it slowly and steady we keep it off longer. Otherwise we gain it back fast and more of it as well.
I sewed most of the day today and have almost finished another dress. Two piece. I plan to cut out a denim skirt and vest tomorrow. Then I will only have another split skirt to cut out and a dress already cut out to finish in the next two weeks. If my hubby will stay out of my hair I might get done in no time.
I have a storm on it's way here. I hope we do get some rain. My grass is curling up. Bye for now...Hello all...Joanne

Happy B-Day Anagram...
That is as far as I got on catching up on your posts.
Oh, what a brutal week. Sugar is the devil
I am caught in its trap.
Well, I was.
I am in sugar withdrawal right now.
Yesterday I ate one of those huge cream filled do nuts without hesitation and within an hour I was sick as a dog. Felt like I was gonna pass out, like my blood sugar was low. Reactive hypoglycemia. The next thing you know, I wanted sugar so bad it was like reefer madness.
So I have been eating tuna fish, and regualr fish. Trying to get protein into my system to even out those carbs.
And Halloween is coming.

I'm so nervous...can't stop eating and can't get anything done! Anybody else get this way sometimes? Can't concentrate, can't think, can't remember what you were going to do. Run around all day and don't get anything done (except eating) and can't seem to STOP doing that, then at the end of the day you are all bloated and tired out from doing nothing and disgusted with yourself!? Why is that??? Or...maybe I should say...WHAT is that?

I had kind of a week like that Meme.....
Couldn't remember my PIN number on my debit card, then left my groceries and some kid had to come find me in the parking lot. That was easy...I was the one staring at my empty cart. Then I would get so foggy that I would just lay down and eat something.
Better day today. Took a Mental Health day..sort of.
Had to run up to the photographer and get my kids high school year book pictures as they had to be in my today. That is a long drive...so stopped at the mall and hunted for bargains.
Got some good ones. And they gave me the hangers too.
THEY KNOW MY NAME!!!
That is as bad as knowing all the pizza shop numbers by heart.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who is out of it. Having a sort of glum day this afternoon and can't figure out why. They did order the wrong recliner for my furniture that otherwise looks nice and was delivered yesterday. Sales person was out when i went to store but I registered my problem so they couldn't say Im stuck. Unfortunately, I didn't notice when they brought it or I would have refused it. They also finally paved our street today. So now we can keep the cars at home. Didn't take long but we've been on notice about it for a week. We are expecting a cold(er) front to move through over the weekend and my body is YELLING at me. Maybe that's why I'm glum. I was fine this morning and the pool was good. Nothing else is really worse than it was yesterday or than it will be tomorrow and it's not really like me so I hope it moves on and pesters someone else.

Mima- I haven't seen that movie yet. We usually wait till the vidio comes out. I heard it was very true to life. You see I married into a family that was truely old world greek. In fact Tarpon Springs 50 years ago was that way. I believe I was the second 'American'girl to marry a greek boy in this town at that time. It just was not done then. Greek families did not accept any girl/men for their children that were not greek. It made for a very difficult life in most cases. My mother-in-law was one of those people. My sister said I should see that movie. I will someday. I read where they are going to make a mini series out of it.
I have been doing better with my eating lately. I have been too busy to eat much. Maybe that is my key.
Meme- I bet you have what I call the after vacation let down. Start writing down everything you eat and face it at the end of the day and the next morning. Make you a menu and try to stick to it. At one time I had to just force myself to stay away from anything I couldn't have. I threw it out in the yard to the birds.
Candice- Is there a hard and fast rule that we can't go under the alloted points? I know WW always says not to. But?
Hello All..Give me some ideas. Bye...Joanne

I'd like to see that movie too. Have been planning to for ages. Joanne, we have more in common than our knees. My husband is not Greek but of a nationality (and town) with similar thinking. Though I was not the second (it was only 44 years ago), dh's mother was of the same school of thought. Fortunately we lived 200 miles away (that was my fault too) and he has been happy with me but it was not easy. My brother in law's wife is not of that nationality either but was of one more acceptable than mine. Dh's father never seemed to feel the same way and always sort of seemed to be delighted with me. But I liked the way you said "American" girl because that was what I was considered and in some cases called. My son (from another era) finds that unbelievable as he delights in all of his backgrounds.
Have had a good day so far. Glum gone. Furniture piece being reordered. Just a bit more money and six more weeks or so. I guess it's good you're busy if it makes food and pain easier. I'm getting excited about your trip(s) and I'm not even going.

I envy you girls with hubbies with an ethnic background. I am Heinz 57, and so was my hubby and now so are my children. I think it might be nice to have traditions to hang onto.
Time to get ready for some football!!!!!!

There is a lot interesting traditionwise that we have tried to save for the kids. But my daughter had little/no interest. My son loved it. Both kids did like, though, when we roasted a lamb in the backyard, etc. Neither learned the language and my husband pretty much lost what he did have. Neither particularly likes the music, etc aside from when we'd be at group picnics. Son did try to study language but, as taught, it is not really the same as the spoken language. He also knows all sorts of stuff about the history, politics of the area. But he knows that about a lot of places.
Same was true with my background (two countries). Son interested, daughter not. She's more interested in individuals etc. Granddaughters are definitely 57 varieties. I always tried to make sure kids knew about all cultures and how we are affected by cultures/customs in an area where we live so they would not assume one thing is right or wrong. Now they both live around D.C. area and teach me all sorts of things about the same.
Rainy/gloomy here so far today. Not much rain just enough to be damp and mean to arthritis.:(

This is kind of an interesting topic. My hubby is from Denmark, and my family heritage is Norwegian and Danish, so I already knew a lot about their customs, just didn't know I did:lol: My kids have learned some of them, just from doing them. We have also let a lot go. Canadian is a Multicultural country, and everyone who comes here can keep and enjoy their customs. They do have to live by the law of the land however. Some customs, like killing women and daughters is, of course, not allowed. We celebrate Christmas Eve, with a big dinner, and opening of gifts (Scandinavian way) and I have done this all my life. It makes life easier on the kids partners, because most celebrate Christmas day and they are free to go and enjoy that day with the other family.
Not much is new here. I have an article I am going to post in a new thread, because it is long. I found it to be most interesting. I did start back into aqua aerobics last week and the first day (Tue) my legs kind of felt like rubber:lol: ; however, on Thursday, I was fine, and even went and got groceries and did some other shopping.
I am trying to learn PaintShop Pro and that takes up a LOT of my time, but it is fun. Meme, is that the program that you used to make your graphics? Also, have Animation 3 but can't seem to animate anything:?:
It is really, really windy, rainy and COLD today. Just watch out your people, that cold air from the Arctic is on it's way
:^:
I hope you all have a great day.
Now I will start a new thread, as this one has gotten pretty long.
