:halfempty hey girls, I'm beat tonight. The show opens Tuesday afternoon and there is much left to do but most of the hanging is finished. There isn't a website up yet but I'll let you know if we do put one up. There are 10 faculty members, we all do something different, I think we look pretty good.
Sigh, judi I meant to look at the dolls but forgot to before I started posting. I will though. I remember when I was a little girl I always wanted a nun doll.
Our cool weather isn't here yet, but a cool front is moving through over the weekend that will bring us down into the mid/low 80s. That sounds good, we're supposed to get a little rain too.
I think D is doing much better as I have seen very little of her this week. She comes home every weekend. There isn't too much to do in the little town where the school is and most of the students do go home. I saw her about 10 minutes tonight before she went out with her girlfriend that is also home for the weekend. I think now is the part where I start missing her because she is getting involved in her classes and meeting new people. That's good, that's how it should be. I have restrained myself from calling her several times in the last 3 or 4 days. I did see her long enough to learn that her piano teacher wants her to practice 2 hrs. a day. She is finding that teachers are more demanding in college. She is bright and has been able to slide by with little effort so now she's finding out what it is like to have to work at her grades. That is good too.
Well, I have been doing good this week. Keeping up with exercise and food. Though tonight I just had to break down and buy a pizza. That is what happens when you get too tired. BUT, after supper I walked about 1 1/2 miles so I don't feel too bad. I have been walking more and doing fewer videos. I'll be kayaking this weekend.
Good to hear from everyone.

Haven't done very well in the exercise dept. this week, hopefully I'll do better this coming week. I have been seriously considering one of Tony Little's Gazelles, but I don't know if it will be just one more piece of exercise equipment that I don't use. I am having trouble with both knees when I walk, DH has a problem with his knees, and since the Gazelle is a non-impact aerobic exercise, it might be better for us. Plus, it gives you a whole body workout. I do find Tony Little very annoying, so I don't know if I could actually watch one of his videos.:headache: :hyper:
ledom, after all that hard work getting ready for the show, you probably deserved a pizza:jeno:. I tend to get foods like that whenever I'm tired. Keep up the walking, before you know it it will be too cold to go outside. I probably can squeak by 1 or 2 more months, possibly 3 if we have a mild Dec. I hope you get some cooler weather this weekend. WOW!! 2 hrs. piano practice a day is a lot! Does your D mind practicing that long?
judi, I will definitely check out that doll sight. I meant to yesterday, but forgot...another senior moment:sorry: Oh, poor Bentley. I'm sure Gramma will have him in tip-top shape in no time. Can he have cottage cheese? I remember when we had to give Shamrock a special diet when she had some sort of infection in her system, and we gave her mashed potatoes. Please keep me posted on how he is doing. Good luck on your 2 days of classes. I'm with you, I'd rather be doing something else too!:s:
The both of you take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

judi, those dolls are amazing. Have you selected your favorite? I have two dolls saved from my childhood that could possibly be collector's dolls. One is a Shirley Temple Doll and the other one is priceless to me. It is a Little LuLu ragdoll that my mother made for me. Watching her make it constitues my first memory as a child. I was 2 or 3.
Alice, I think D feels challenged by 2 hrs. of practice, but I don't think she is totally against it. She has an innate talent for it, inherited from her Dad. She normally practices an hour a day and occasionally longer as it is. This particular teacher, I just bet, is going to be a great mentor and role model for her. D has always responded well to her music teachers and she has been lucky to have had 2 really good ones up to this point. Not only did the current teacher assign these 2 hr. practices, she took time to look at D's schedule and talk to her about time management - not something D takes well from me, but from someone like her piano teacher she is willing to listen.
I have gotten in to the habit of walking at night. Sometimes this is the only exercise of the day, but on mornings when I have time I try to do something then too. I think this has been a good way to mix things up and stun my body into responding a little differently. I am not exactly on a roll, but I am beginning to feel some positive changes in the last couple of weeks. Thank goodness, because I was falling into some bad habits there for a while.
Hope everyone is well and the puppies are well too. The cats are looking good these days. RM seems to have gotten over whatever was making him act so weird, seems more like his old self these days.

It's a dreary day...we are going to get some rain today, they said possibly 3" in some places:cb: I'm usually not this happy about rain, but we are still in a severe drought and this should help our well situation. DH made coffee early this morning, put the timer on the coffeemaker, went downtown to get the Sun. paper, and when he came home the kitchen was flooded with coffee....he forgot to put the coffee pot in the machine. :headache: Fortunately for me, Lacee & I were sound asleep and blissfully unaware of what was happening.
judi, I went into the Blessings website, but could find nothing for dolls:?: Was I in the wrong place? I still have my favorite childhood doll, Sad Sadie, which is taken after Pitiful Pearl. She is still in good condition and I put her as a decoration on my bed, along with a small stuffed Boston Terrier. When I was young, she went everywhere with me.
ledom, glad that RM has gotten over his fright, and both kitties are doing well. I think that's wonderful that your D doesn't mind practicing for 2 hrs. When I was about 10 or so, I took piano lessons. I had to practice for 1/2 hr., and to me that seemed like 2 hrs. I hated piano lessons!:bomb:
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hi! Just type in "Blessings nun doll" in Google and it will find the site Alice. No I haven't chosen...I like the traditional habits the ones I was more familiar with as a school girl (Catholic boarding school) but I am really taken by some of the more exotic type habits of some of the dolls. It is a lot of money $$$ so I have to choose carefully. You girls saved some of your dolls! Good for you, I haven't but wish I did.
Well, I am down a size:) so I am happy about that.
The course was the hardest thing I ever did! But I passed the road trip test. It was on one of those BIG trucks that haul two or three trailers. I didn't have to take it out of they yard. I did have to get under the truck and set up the slack adjusters on a brake with a wrench. I still have to take the written air brakes certification test but I am not too worried about written tests. All this to be air brakes certified to drive our motor home. I do get a new liscence though which is good because I look like a fat felon on the one I have now:lol: We had:jeno: to celebrate and wine and stayed in Vancouver last night at a hotel. It was fun and I was deliriously happy that I passed.
Your D must be wonderfully musically gifted Ledom!!! That is so  ! The show is opening Tuesday, that will be a big day for you.
How is your weather now Alice? The leaves are turning color here. It must be so beautiful where you live this time of year.
How is Lacee doing? Yes, I think Bentley can have cottage cheese. It probably would be good for him.
I am skipping out on the next trip to Ca. I want to stay home, read and just have a quiet time. It will be ok for my DH I think because he will have to work evenings on a big project he is doing. I am worried that he will forget to eat though if I am not there. "Forget to eat" now there is a concept I have no experience with  !!
Night! Night!

We're having more computer problems :headache: . Something to do with the brand new hard drive. But, DH stopped into the computer place where we had it fixed the last time, and since the new hard drive is only a couple of weeks old, they will replace it.
judi, you must be on:cloud9: after losing a size!:cp: :dancer: Keep it up! Also, congratulations on passing the course. That must have made you really feel good. You also had my kind of celebration:s: I too, am Catholic and I can remember being very scared of nuns when I was in Sunday school. My parents tried to enroll me in one of the Catholic schools in our town, but in those days you had to know someone to get into one. Lacee is doing fine. We're heading down to Mass. later this morning and she's going with us. She really does ride very well. Yesterday she was being a little:devil: so we went outside where I let her run loose. She ran, and ran, and ran, I guess she had a lot of energy to release. By the time she was ready to come in, her tongue was hanging to the ground. Our front yard is quite a distance from our street, which is a dirt road, and no traffic.
ledom, today is your big day with your show. I wish you good luck with it. After it's all over have a nice celebration. I know it will be a success.
Take care and have a great day.

Hi Alice! How long will you going to Mass. for? Good for Lacee doing all that running. She must be feeling good! I am trying to let Marley's hair grow into a proper Lhasa Ahpso style, so he went to the doggie dresser today and had a bath but no cut. He is looking shaggy but shiny.
I loved the nuns when I was a kid. I was one of the pain in the @## type kids...they loved me too UNTIL they got to know me better. I have such good memories of those women. I went to two Catholic boarding schools. My father was dying of cancer in my grade 11 year and they just kept me for nothing the last part of the school year. These were Sisters of Providence. Really wonderful, wonderful women. I often think about them and wonder how they are doing. I know a couple of the nuns I used to know left.
And speaking of nuns I ordered a Felician Sister's nun doll. She has a brown, black and white habit. Very pretty. I have 2 other black and white habit ones.
Ledom, how is the show going? Do you have a "soiree" type thing tonight?
It is amazing even with the small weight I have lost I feel so energized!! What would happen if I lost the weight I should???
We are having the most beautiful fall weather. It just makes one want to go outside. The garden is still putting on a good fall show too. I bought some allium bulbs to plant for spring...purple fragrant ones that are supposed to be 3 feet tall.:df:

:dizzy: That smilie is ME after yesterday. This week has been so busy, 2 12 hr. days in a row - but now I can ease up. The show was fabulous. It looked very nice and I think the crowd that showed up was 3 times what we usually have for our openings. Very gratifying, all the faculty went home with a warm glow last night. I even sold a piece which I wasn't expecting. judi, our receptions are in the afternoons, we mainly reach our own little community though several people drove in from out of town. We serve refreshments, though no wine as we are on campus in a dry county at that (middle of the bible belt). Always in the past we have been required to use the caterer under contract to the University, but I had a hissy fit over that this year as they had jacked up thier already astronomical prices. I was given permission to go elsewhere so I catered it. We had better and MORE food for the money. I was so pleased because we had just the right amount of food too - we would have run out 1/2 way through spending the same money with the other guys. Anyway, thanks for asking - it has been consuming me but I am glad it is over with now.
Ah, the down side. I haven't had time to take care of business like daily exercise or even eating properly. I am ready to get back to it today.
How was your trip Alice? Did you get to shop or sightsee any?
judi, I'm glad you get to stay home for the next trip. It is good to hear from you regularly. You guys have turned into a touchstone for me.
Take care, have a good day.

ledom, I am so happy for you that your show was a success.:cp: That must've been a big job catering the affair. Did you prepare all the food yourself? Now that it's over you can relax a bit.
judi, I did find the Blessings site. The dolls are simply beautiful. I am glad that you have fond memories of the nuns. I did see the Nun Doll in the Sisters of Province habit. Do you have that one? I do remember one order that the habit was brown. My favorite was at the end, one of the orders had a gray habit.
I have found that there is a WW express meeting at 9:00 am on Tuesdays about 20 min. from my house. I am toying with the idea of joining. I honestly don't know. If I do it on my own, I just get lazy with counting points, this way I'm forced to keep track of my food. It won't be too bad because I do my grocery shopping in the same town, so I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone ;)
Our weather is rather fallish too. We have fog in the morning, you can see the steam rising from the lake. I see more and more leaves turning. We've got another month to go before we are a peak.
Had a great trip to Mass. yesterday. There is a bakery on the NH side of the Mass. border that bakes everything sugarfree. I bought a SF Apple pie, some low-carb muffins, their bread, which they call Mountain Bread, which is paper thin and very large (both DH & I split one) that is good for roll-ups, and as a treat, 2 sugarfree cheesecake tarts.
I hope that you both have a great day.

judi, congratulations on your weight loss. Sorry I didn't say something earlier. A smaller size and more energy - WAY TO GO! And now it is fall, the best dieting season, there'll be no stopping you!
Hey, it finally rained. Our cool front never made it last week but it looks promising for this weekend. It was just so nice to go outside this morning and find the ground and pavement wet. Recently it has been so dry and the rain so sparse that the little we got evaporated immediately.
I have today off and am so happy to get to relax. I plan to clean a little and read some and rest a lot. I have my classes in a good place now, first tests on Monday so I don't have tons of preparation now.
Alice, by catering it myself it did cause more work but in weighing everything out I think I will continue. The caterer at school was hard to work with. Catering might give the wrong impression, the only food preparation was to slice cheese and summer sausage. Just planning, shopping, getting serving plates, etc. I am at my best planning a party for some reason. Maybe I should have been a caterer in real life.
Ya'll have a good day.

Glad to hear the show was a success, Ledom! What was the piece you sold like? You must be very good at organizing those functions by now. I tip my hat! I could never do something like that...I would be a nervous wreck!
Alice, that bakery sounds fabulous!! I wish we had something like that here. Honestly, we don't have REALLY good baking in Canada. (my apologies to any Canadian bakers out there...I am speaking from my own experience only) Well, probably in Quebec but not in the other parts of it that I have been. It NEVER is as good as you can make at home and it doesn't even BEGIN to compare with Europe. I spent a year in Europe in the 70's and than have been there on and off about 10 times since and that is the thing I ALWAYS notice...the stupendous baking over there...(and the cheese, and the wines;)
I ordered a brown habit doll and I bought a new black habit doll off of ebay! I like the gray Maryknoll sister's habit too.
Yes, I am feeling ENERGIZED! It is the fall weather I think.
I am going to miss my DH but I am looking forward to a big block of time to read and just be quiet. Walk and that sort of thing. I think it will be a good 2 weeks. I am hoping anyway.
I might even start point counting again.

How are you guys this morning?
judi, the photo is taken from my kayak and it is "waterscape". I was back in a little creek with water plants on both sides and overhanging trees, it pictures the long distance back across the lake.
How do you display your dolls?
Alice, what's up with you?
This morning I am loading up both kayaks and taking one of my co-workers out before going into work at 10. It will be a good way to start the day.
Hope you have a good weekend.

Met my GF for our weekly luncheon and shopping date. Had a great lunch. JC Penney was having a fabulous sale and I bought a light tan suede vest, plus a brown cardigan sweater with burnt orange and gold appliqued leaves. I had planned on giving the sweater to my cousin for her birthday, but I love the sweater so much I decided to keep it for myself.:s:
ledom, how was your kayaking trip this morning? I bet it was beautiful out on the water. We have been having unusual summer like weather this past week. It's been in the low 80's. I hope we will have a fairly mild winter. We may see some rain by Monday.
judi, my late aunt used to correspond with a priest with the Maryknoll Missions. I forget which undeveloped country they were in. This priest had been to her house on numerous occasions. I too think fall weather is very invigorating. October is my favorite month. I tend to enjoy it when DH is away overnight, or even for a whole day. I get to do what I want...UMMMM, I should say whateve Lacee wants. How is Bentley doing, and how does Marley like having Bentley around?
Have a great Friday!!

I have been cramming like crazy for the written part of the air brakes certification course. I plan to write the test at the end of the week. I tried once and failed it. DUHH. SO now I have to pass (I can't stand the stress) actually I have 2 more tries before I have to do the course over...which I don't want to have to do. So now I am studying properly....
Bentley is at home. He might come on the weekend but I don't know if I will be up for my D. Too much energy...I like things quiet. If I pass the test I will want to crash if I fail I will have to study. The pass is 80% and for someone now mechanically inclined it is hard.
Yes, fall is wonderful here too. I just love it.
Ledom, your photo sounds just wonderful.
DH is gone for 2 weeks. I miss him but I am getting some reading done. What did you do on your day without hubby Alice?
I don't know how I will display the dolls, I will have 4. The poseable ones with porcelin (sp.) faces I will maybe sit in some extra chairs I have in the living room and the Blessing ones maybe put in my bedroom. If I get more I will buy some shelves I guess. I don't want to keep them in the boxes. (Though I will keep the boxes).
I think I will turn in early tonight. Night girls!

The weather has changed for the better. It's more like fall now instead of summer. Sunday was our last warm and humid day, our transisition day was yesterday. It's supposed to be in the 70's the rest of the week.:cb:
I'm up earlier than usual this morning. I had to decide whether or not I wanted to joing WW today. There are a lot of pros and cons, but the pros won out. If I have to face that scale each week and be held accountable I will stick with something, and I really, really, do want to lose weight. The only problem is, WW advocates a low/no fat woe, but my bloodwork is excellent by eating a higher fat/low carb woe. So, I can use my pts. on higher fat foods and tweak the rest.
judi, I'm sure you will do very well on your exam later this week. At least with your DH gone you'll have plenty of time to study. I wish you luck. When DH is away I usually curl up with a good book and I can read to my heart's content, and I can eat on my schedule when I'm hungry, and I just pop a frozen dinner in the microwave for dinner, and have a glass of wine.:s: Do you have a curio that you could put your dolls in? I collect Boston Terrier figurines (sp?) HMMMM, I wonder why?? I have the breakable ones in a curio in the den. The rest are scattered throughout the house. Some are as big as her nibs.
ledom, how was your kayak trip? Hope everything is going well with you.
Enjoy your day!
ledom
09-24-2002, 08:51 AM
judi, good luck on your test. You're studying so you'll do well, I know what you mean though - who wants to study when you could be doing something else?!?
Alice, WW will be a renewal of your commitment to lose weight. You just have to shake things up evey now and then.
Hey, we are having fall weather too!! Everyone is so happy and energetic - low humidity is a cause to celebrate around here. This week we are in 70's to 80 degrees.
kayaking was fun as always. I explored a new area. The fall flowers are in bloom now and I have added a couple new ones to my list. Not new, but spectaular, is the Cardinal flower. Just the prettiest red spike and it grows in wet areas so the banks in some areas are just covered with them.
Have a good day.

Hi! Well, I am STILL studying...I will give myself one more day (I mean how long can one study "air brakes" at one sitting???) and go in and write in on Thursday.
Alice, Good FOR YOU!!!:cp: I will START to count points again tomorrow. Really, it is the best way. I have been stalled in my attitude and going nowhere fast weight wise. I have been too complacent. Now I feel like beginning again. Fall is a good time.
Ledom, your kayak adventures sound so wonderful. What a good thing getting that kayak was!!
I spend a lot of time reading too when I am by myself. I love it. I also eat just whenever.
You collect Boston Terrier figurines Alice! I bet they are cute. No alas I don't have a curio cabinet ... and no place to put one...the house is crammed. I have furniture pieces that belonged to my grandmother and mom etc. I like to be surrounded by things that were in ALL stages of my life. Though it makes for a lot of dusting:lol:
Is there anything you like especially to collect Ledom?
I had a nice day today. Went into town and had lunch with my D.
OK tomorrow diet wise...we will really step it up!! :cb: :jig: :strong:

Well, I did it, I joined WW yesterday. It's a nice small group, about 14 people. I'm kind of excited about it. The funny part is, I met an acquaintance of mine there that had joined last week. Like judi, I am going to start counting my points today.
ledom, the fall flowers must be beautiful. Every day I see more leaves starting to turn. It's funny though, usually our weather people start sectioning off the state as to where the peak will be at certain times in Sept/Oct but so far there has been nothing. Are you expected to get anything from this hurricane aka tropical storm that's supposed to hit the gulf coast? They say we may see something when it breaks apart and gets caught in our jet stream by the weekend. I hope we do get something because we still need the rain.
judi, that's so nice you have things from your mother & grandmother. I don't have much from my grandmother. After a bachelor uncle passed away, who lived with my grandmother, a cousin clean out the house. He never asked any of us if we wanted anything, he kept all the good stuff and sold the rest. I've finally gotten over it. Glad you had a good time with your D
Take care and enjoy your day.

Maybe some of your good habits will inspire me Alice and judi. Yesterday may have been my worst diet day ever. I just couldn't stop eating, hopefully today will be better. I have a big hike planned after work and it is hard to hike on a bad diet so I'll think about that when I get tempted today.
LOL about collecting - I'm just a pack rat in general! If anything though I guess it would be old platters. I stopped shopping at yard sales and flea markets a few years ago because I need to get rid of things instead of aquire them, but if I do run across an old, interesting, and cheap dish I can't resist.
Yes, we have chances of rain starting tomorrow from Isadore. Right now it doesn't seem as if it'll be a lot. We too need more rain.
Sigh, well I am alone at home now. D comes home on weekends and I think she will for a while. I am still trying to figure out what it means to me. During the school year I am so busy I don't have time to get lonely or think about it a lot, but I do consider how narrow my aquaintances outside my professional life are becoming. My group of friends are wonderful, but I would say we have been drifting apart for some time now. The thing is, I am content to spend lots of time alone, but sometimes I worry I will end up being really lonely and alone. Maybe that is something everyone grapples with?
On a more upbeat note, I am visiting a state hero tomorrow. He was a major basketball star here in the 70's and has become a major collector of African American art. The chair of my dept. and I are going to go look at his collection tomorrow in anticipation of his lending us the collection for display in our gallery. This would be the first "big time" show for us. I was able to hear about this collection through a friend of mine and pursue the possibility. We are looking at a year and a half before we would have the work, we are going to use this as leverage with the admin. to upgrade our exhibition space so it is all very exciting.
Ya'll have a good day.

Nah, Ledom...you will never be alone...Alice and I will be here:cp:
I find more and more though as I am getting older I really cherish the time to be by myself...to read, to think. reflect etc.
I had a good diet day, this was my menu:
Breakfast:
omlette with 2 imitation bacon slices
lunch:
bagel & cream cheese
a fruit salad (1.5 pt)
supper
1 sm. cheese wedge
2 packs crackers (saltines)
bowl or corn chowder.
If you girls want to put down what your eating (just on a good day..I wouldn't want to horrify anyone with one of my bad days!) that would be great because it would give me an idea of what to try.
Glad you like your WW group Alice! That is SO good. You will do geat!! My WW friend is getting me the journal to record stuff in.
Ledom, it was all that kayaking and work that has probably made you more hungry than usual. Your over all good habits will more than compensate for that day.
Guess what!:smug: I passed the air brakes certification test:smug: I went and wrote it today, I just couldn't have it hanging over my head any longer and now I am FREEEEEE:dancer:

Yesterday, I had lunch and saw a movie, The Banger Sisters with my GF. The movie was a HOOT. We enjoyed it very much.
DH & I bit the bullet, so to speak, and bought a new computer. We've had 2 new hard drives put in and it started doing its old tricks. DH is going to set the new one up tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed everything will go smoothly.
ledom, judi is right, we'll be there for you, so you won't be alone. I also like to spend more time by myself now that I'm older. Good luck with the African American Art collection. Some days you are more hungrier than others, you do have good eating and exercise habits, so I wouldn't worry about 1 day of eating a lot. We are supposed to get some rain from Isadore starting tomorrow.
judi, congratulations on getting your air brakes certificate:cb: :cp: :wizard: . That must be such a relief now that it's over. What did you do to celebrate, or will that wait until your DH comes home? That's a great idea about telling each other what we eat.
Ok, here goes......
Breakfast: 1 cup cheerios w/ low fat milk 4 pt.
Snack: 1 cup grapes 1 pt.
Lunch: 4 oz. hamb. w/cheese & bacon...no bun 12 pt.
salad w/ 2 T. lite Italian Dressing 1 pt.
Dinner: 1 cup minestrone soup 2 pt.
Snack: 1/2 c. s/f pudding w/cool whip 2 pt.
Take care and have a great day.

You are both so sweet. Boy was I dipping into melancholy or what? I am the same, I enjoy being alone, I enjoy kayaking alone, I enjoy coming home and doing what I want. Sometimes I think I should make more of an effort to be social.
judi - first congratulations on your test. Whooppeeee, I know that is a relief.
I think it is a good idea to write down what we eat - I'll start tomorrow.:s:
The only thing I did yesterday that was in the least bit impressive was go for a long hike. I'm not sure the distance but it took 1 1/2 hrs, probably about 4 1/2 miles. Climbed the little mtn. twice on that trail, I called one of my friends and we did it when I got off work. We are going to try to do it once, maybe twice a week so that is a step in the right direction.

Today we are getting the rain from Isadore, but not as much as they originally thought:( , but we'll take what we can get.
DH is installing the new computer later this morning:yikes:
ledom, sometimes I get melancholy too. Your hike sounds like you had a great deal of exercise. Good for you!!! DH & I haven't walked in awhile, and we were doing so well too. I want to start in again, so decided to take Lacee for a walk yesterday....not the brightest idea I've ever had. She was so awful I had to turn around and come home:bomb:

Alice, the rain from Isadore that we were supposed to get yesterday just hit the eastern part of the state, he's unpreditable!
My boss and I had the best time yesterday looking at the art collection. I somehow had not caught the fact that our basketball player had also played for the NBA. His collection is astounding - I never met a serious art collector before. It has been a long time since I saw so much good art in one place. It is a real coup for us to have the collection come to our gallery It will be a year and a half to two years before we get it but there will be a lot of preparation before then to make it really special.
Yesterday was a better diet day but not where it should be.
Breakfast - Oatmeal
Lunch - Ham and cheese on whole grain bread and chips (there gone now)
Snack - Oatmeal
Supper - Black Beans and Brown Rice with salsa and lowfat sourcream
No exercise
Yep, it's friday - I have a lot to do today but it IS friday.
Have a good day. Hope the computer installation goes well.

How is your weekend going? Mine has been pretty good and I have been doing a LOT of thinking, plotting and planning this weekend as well. I have been doing just horribly on the diet, just haven't been doing it. I have a good week every now and then, but it has been slipping away for a while. My clothes are starting to have that tight uncomfortable pinch. I have gotten rid of a lot of my "fat" clothes so I'm stuck with what I have and I don't want to buy anything new for a while. I don't want to give up or give in. SO, in order to motivate myself I have been spending a LOT of time lurking around on 3fc this weekend. There is a thread on the general diet board about what to do about "loose skin". That is the most positive, inspiring bit of 3fc I have read in a long time. There are several women who have lost 100 lbs. that have posted there. And ladies, if I am honest with myself. I am in the category of needing to loose 100 lbs. at least. I'm never gonna make it the way I am going. WHAT to do? Lurking around a bit more - I have decided to really give Body for Life a look. I bought the book yesterday. I feel inspired and gung-ho at the moment. I am trying to start it today. I don't have all the elements in place as far as cleaning out and organizind my weight bench, weights, etc. and shopping for food but I plan to work on it today. I ate a BFL breakfast and will kind of patch along today and see if I can't get started for real. I guess I just don't want to wait until tomorrow to start. So - that's where I am.
OK - I have a question. We have such a lovely thread and friendship going here. Plus the fact we are almost at the #100 PMD thread which I think is a bit of a milestone. On the other hand, none of us are doing PMD per se, though I think all of us continue to use elements of the diet. I still think it is the best, most practical, real life way of eating, I have found and I kind of like putting it out there for people to check out. What do you guys think? Do you think we should find a different format, place to post on the 3fc board? Or do you think we should continue as is? If you do think a different thread title, etc. would better reflect what we talk about - do you have ideas and/or suggestions?
Well, here is to WW, BFL, PMD whatever each of us is doing. I think we are all feeling the need to shake things up a bit!

This week and weekend (so far) have gone well dietwise. Weekends are usually my downfall, but since I have to face that scale on Tues., it gives me the motivation to keep on track. Today is DH birthday, so I know in advance that I will have a piece of cake, plus some champagne. For the cake, I go to the grocery store and buy 2 slices then it's gone. I think I have enough points banked for this indulgence.
Our new computer is up and running. The new one takes a lot of getting used to. We each have our separate e mail accts. and access to the internet, so we have to remember to log off when we're done. There is so much to remember. But, I've heard it's good to learn new things, it helps the gray matter from stagnating. :s:
We did get a lot of rain from Isadore, and it certainly helped.
ledom, that is a good idea about trying something new to shake things up a bit. I find that I get bored if I stay on something for any period of time, but doing something new I really get gung-ho about it. What is the BFL program all about? Good luck with your BFL plan. I agree, we do have a lovely friendship going here and I look forward to "talking" with the both of you. Since we aren't doing PMD 100%, and if you want to change the format I'm all for it. I haven't seen anyone post inquiring about PMDing in a long time. I'm really not very clever on picking a new title for our discussions.
judi, I hope you are enjoying your weekend and are doing well counting your points.
Have a great day.

Hi, about changing the thread I am with whatever you girls decide as long as WE STAY TOGETHER doing what we are doing. I try to be guided by PMD food principles in my choices of what to eat in the week but I find if I eat six meals I tend to overeat so I have been having 3 meals but a snack if I am hungry like an apple etc. The other night I was just starving at midnight so I had a pb/scone and the scale still showed a dip. I also try to quit eating by five for the day. I am getting used to not eating after five and it is getting easier all the time. I find I need more than is allowed at the one of the six meals of PMD otherwise I feel like I am just snacking all day. Yesterday I only had 2 meals but was totally fine all day.
Last night I tried the McDonalds veggie burger and California Greens salad and those 2 things are pretty good allowing us to have the occasional junk food experience...which I avoid but do miss.
That is great about getting a new computer ALice, that is always exciting. I hope all systems are up and running. Happy Birthday :hb: :hat: to your DH.
I am doing something novel to keep from eating :s: what I shouldn't ...I will give it a month and then IF it is working I will tell you. No sense sticking it out there yet because as you both know I have had a zillion "new" beginnings and not one good end yet...so give me a month. Then I will tell.;)

let's just continue as is for now. We can be PMDers in transition. After the 100th thread maybe we will have a more clear idea if we should change anything.
Happy Birthday Alice's DH. I hope you enjoy your cake and champagne.
If you look on the BFL thread and open the BFL stickie, there is a brief rundown on what the diet is all about. I have many questions already. The thing I do like about it is that is still 6 small meals a day which works for me.
The big difference is that it requires more protein and beans are considered a carb instead of a protein. Weight training is a huge component of the diet. I do feel comfortable with that as I have lifted weights (albeit realitvely light ones) off and on for 20 years.
judi, I know what you mean about talking about trying something new. I started something new today too (besides the diet) that I'll talk about when I think I have suceeded. It is something really huge though!
