When you have lost a significant amount of weight and your body looks so different, does it bother you when someone says "Keep up the great work."? For me, it is like the person is saying "You've done good so far but you're still fat, keep at it." Is it just me?
LOL... well, I never thought about it that way! I think I've been guilty of saying such a thing. I will try to be more sensitive since I never thought about it meaning THAT. But I can totally see why you'd think that. I doubt that is what they mean, though.
Oh I think they just mean don't screw up and be a fatty again. Don't take offense.
Aaaaaaahahahahaha. Jeesh.
The road to **** was paved with good intentions. I think it's just one of those default phrases people say when someone does something good. Got an award? Keep up the good work! Made a nice dinner? Keep up the good work! Had a good sales day at your job? Keep up the good work! But, as the previous poster said, it IS a life long change, and you have done AMAZINGLY well... so keep up the good work!
I've always taken it as a positive thing when someone says it to me. I'm also guilty of posting this thinking I was being encouraging or supportive; will be more careful now not to offend!
Here at 3FC, I've heard all kinds of complaints about comments made by others. People say "Wow, you're looking great" and the recipient thinks "What, did I not look good before?"
Of course, if no one comments, everyone wonders "Why isn't anyone saying anything?".
There's no winning!
Take it as a compliment...I'm sure that's how it was meant.
