Thought I would start a thread for us dancing in the 180's. I've been here since February and I'm ready to leave!!

Share your thoughts, what leaving this "decade" of numbers behind means to you and what you're going to do to put it behind you.

This decade of numbers is a sticking point with me. I have a mental block about it somehow that it's an "acceptably chubby" weight. I have to keep reminding myself that I am still "obese" at this weight and need to get outta here!

My goal is to be in the 170's by May 12th. That would be my lowest in 15 years. I want to go to DH's family reunion being the lightest they have ever seen me. I'm over the 180's too. It was nice to get here, but will be nicer to leave. :) So, I have a couple weeks and a couple of days to lose about 5#s. I think I can, I think I can!

Mel - I'm with you! Let's get the flock outta here in the next couple of weeks. I saw you lost and AMAZING 4 pounds last week...care to share how the heck you did that?!?

I saw 183.6 this morning. I stared at the scale for a minute, soaking in the lowest number in years. I think I may celebrate and invent a brand new dance when I see that 179...

Mollz, it's not as impressive as it seems. Mondays usually weigh high for me. Wednesdays are my lowest. Whatever the scale says on Monday is what I post. Last week I had to post 190 because that's what the scale said. I was really more like 187. Yesterday the scale said 186. Really I am more like 184. I have noticed the scale inching down a bit more with the zig-zagging. It's nice too because I made Saturday my highest calories of the week so I have a little more flexibility when we're out doing stuff.

183.6! You can TASTE the 170's! When was the last time you were that low? I feel like I have been chasing your behind for the last 4 months. I remember when you quietly dropped under 200. It really doesn't seem that long ago. Do you have a date in mind for 170? If you come up with a new dance, post video. lol Do you do interval training?

The last time I was in the 170's was in 2008 - I ran a half marathon that May when our 3rd child was 11mo old. Three months later I was pregnant AGAIN... Truthfully, 160 is the lowest I have been since before children. My goal of 139 seems like an unattainable dream. Ten pounds at a time, eh? It would be nice to see the 170's again by May 15th, right around the same time as the marathon.

I do a lot of interval/circuit training. I try to run 2-3 days a week, then do Jillian Micheal's interval strength training 2-3 days. I like to see how far i can push myself, and interval training lets me do that, recover and do it again! Love it!!

Very soon, we will be leaving this thread behind for the 170's thread. I'll race ya! ;)

I have been stuck in the 180's since JANUARY! I had been at 180.0 for quite a few days. I was hopeful to see 179.anything this morning.. OHHH NOOO it was 181.2!!!!!!!! It's driving me bonkers. I've been loseing the last 3 pounds of the 180's for two MONTHS. My diet hasn't been perfect. But It's not been horrible either. No reason for me to hover. I've been an angel the past two weeks and switched to water only to drink (I miss diet coke and sweet tea :( ). Upped my cardio. I've raised my calories. Lowered my Calories . I swear my body is rebelling. 179 will be the lowest I've been since I had my 3rd child. I want it so bad I can taste it. The temptation to not eat ANYTHING for 2 or 3 days is sooo high. I won't do it.. but it's tempting.

You gals every go on a Fruit and Veggie Feast? I've been trying it once or twice a week. Nuttin' but fruits and veggies all day, then I do have protein at supper. It has helped me get rid of some water retention and but through my 186-188 hover.

This morning I weighed before and after my run...a difference of 1.6lbs down!! Gee wiz, wish I could loose 1.6lbs in an hour for real!

Okay I'm officially in the 180's now! I'm pumped up and ready to go down to the 170's. Sounds like impatience but I'm just trying to stay motivated. :D Come on girls let's blow this mug!

mortonpixie-The plan I'm on is actually big on fruits and veggies and it's really been great for bloating and water retention. I've noticed that even on that TOM I haven't retained as much fluid.

aiesline- hang in there girl you are soooo close, you'll do it!

Mel- you're almost there too!

Is it wrong to hate the 160's and 150's threads? :)

I have no idea what the heck I weigh. TOM is visiting. It's the only down side to losing weight. He never visited before I dropped under 200#s. So I will have to wait a week before I know how much I really weigh. I have my fingers crossed that it will be around 182. That'd be sweet!

Pix, I wonder if we need to eat more or cut back on the workouts? I posted in the May thread about it. I'm going to try limiting my workouts. There's a guy who is going to school to become a personal trainer who said that I am eating like 300-400 cals below what I should be and that's why the weird weight loss. He also said that I need to rev up my metabolism by cutting back on cardio and focusing on gaining muscle. I'll be the guinney pig and let you know how it turns out.

I need to go to bed....

Mel you're too funny! I thought the same thing. I'm so jealous! :p

Supposedly muscle helps you burn fat. I've heard that a couple of times now. I also heard that its best to do some moderate cardio after resistance training. I've been doing that and it seems to work.

Mel - IDK, girl. I'm so sick of this I could scream. I wake up, step on the scale, I exercise, chase kids all day, count my calories, and dam.n it if I haven't lost more than 5lbs in the last 8wks.

Seems like I started seeing better results when I DID up my intake. Last week, I think the combo of TOM and 3 meals out (hello sodium) caused my .4 increase. But overall, in the last 3 weeks I lost more than I did the 4 before *shrug*.

I was eating 1400, thinking that less was more. About the time I cut that low my losses tanked. Since going up to 1700 (zig-zagging) I've been less exhausted and not as cranky.

I used this calculator to find my calorie needs http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

Sigh...so frustrated. Pis.sed to be exact. LMK what you are doing to try to bust through the plateau. We gotta keep going, girls - I can't go back to being a duce and a quarter.

Alright girls, I don't want to get annoying but I'm a pretty positive person so forgive me for the happy go lucky attitude. ;) I know you girls are frustrated but we have to figure this out! We've all come way too far to let this get us down.

Have you tried cutting back on carbs? I'm not an expert by no means but that's what kept me losing for the past three months. I do zigzagging with my calories but on my low days, I limit my carbs. I eat fruit but no bread pastas or starches. Only on my low days though. You guys exercise a lot so you might need more protein in your diet. Maybe try psylium husk to flush out your system for TOM.

Don't let me catch up to you! :cheer:

I just realized that I called pixie "mollz" on an earlier post. I probably was typing that at 4 in the morning. :)

Pix, girl, I SO understand your frustration! I am not uping my cals. That would be much harder for me to do than to cut back on the exercise. So, my game plan is to try this guy's advise for 8 weeks. That's how long he said it would take to see real results. He is right that muscle burns fat, so more muscle means more fat burning. He wants me to do light cardio (30 minutes walking on incline) 2 times a week. It took me too long to build up to running for 45 minutes to stop. So, I am going to do my run on the cardio days. Then 3 days a week work different muscle groups doing 8 reps maxed out for 3 sets. Never work a muscle more than 1 time a week. My cals are 1496, 1646, 1796, 1945 zig zagged. This is the next 8 weeks for me. We'll see. So, what is your game plan? I was doing 1400 cals before now too. I would say that the less cranky and more weight loss means that the more cals is better. That guy asked me how often I get hungry. I only get hungry a couple times a day. He said that if our muscles are burning up fat, we should be getting hungry. Hmmm. I wonder if we should invest in a body bug type thing so we stop guessing how many cals we need. What are you doing for a workout? This might sound a little crazy, but I even wonder if God is restricting my loss to get my attention. I have become kind of obsessed with all this and I wonder if He is trying to remind me of Who should be on the throne.

Caro, your optimism isn't annoying. It's uplifting. I like your idea about only eating clean carbs on your low days. You are going to catch up to us. It's all good. Why do I feel such a rush to lose weight? I wish I never wrote down my 2# per week week loss schedule on my calendar. As long as I reach my goal weight sometime in 2010 I think I will live.

Alrighty, I need to be productive I guess. :) I am excited to figure this thing out. This is why I love this board. We can bounce ideas and things that work and don't work off of each other.

Congrats Aiesline and Tracyway! Watch out, I'm coming after you!

Mel- I love the comment you made about God trying to get your attention. I've been thanking him often for helping me get healthy. I think He does let things happen so that we do keep him on the throne. It keeps us grounded. Once we realize that everything is under His control, we can stop worrying. Everything will fall into place. He's shown me that He will never let me down.

I think I'm in the 180's for good now...been bouncing between 188 and 192 for the past 4 weeks. Now I rarely see 188 on the scale and I'm seeing numbers in the 184-186 range mostly. (I'm bad about stepping on the scale several times a day).

The max I can weigh (according to Navy hight/weight standards) is 186 if I measure at 5'9", or 181 if I measure at 5'8". Once (I'm not going to say "if") I get down to the 170's I know I'm within standards wither way! To be in the 170's will be a relief from that pressure! Once that pressure is off, I'll keep dropping from there.

I weigh twice a day but I only count what I weigh on Saturday mornings. I guess the rest of the times is just to keep me on track. We'll see what the scale says tomorrow morning! Come on 183! I want to lose 2 lbs a week, but I don't stress out if its less, as long as it goes down.

I totally know what you mean...I've been fighting the AF fitness standards my whole career...I've "fasted" many a time for the yearly weigh-in (at 5'9", I had to be under 168 because I'm a girl)...recently, since we went to new fit test, I've done body wraps for the ab cir....I would love to not stress over it. This year, I should be OK as long as I don't fall off the wagon between now and July. (We test twice a year now...YUCK!)

Ya, I always hated that. Luckily, we don't do the weight standards anymore, but they still have the ab circ. as part of the twice a year fit test, which for me is harder. It's not height adjusted, and under the new fit test, if you fail one category, you fail the whole test. The max circ. you can have is 35.5" (for females) whether you're 5' or 6'...doesn't matter. (For males, it's like 39"...don't even get me started on that one...)

And they don't necessarily measure the skinniest part of your waist...it's supposed to be just above the iliac crest, but sometimes you get a bad taper who does it too low and gets part of your hip bone in the measure. Overall, if you're tall, you get hosed. It always used to really upset me that I'd have to run so much faster than the short people to make up for it. At least under the latest test, it's only worth 20% of your score instead of 30% like it used to be.

It's 186, not 168.

I just looked it up...at 5'7" and female, your max would be 167.

Been seeing 180.2ish this last few days. I hate that it's taken me 3 months to loose 10lbs, but whatevah. It's not for lack of trying - that's for sure. I just have to keep working hard and it WILL come off!!
