100 lb. Club - One year in - progress report

View Full Version : One year in - progress report

This month marks my one year anniversary of my weight loss plan, so a time for reflection.

I went back and reviewed one of my old answers when someone asked what got you started this time around? For me there were 3 things:

Then - One item that got me thinking about putting in the effort to remove the extra 100 lbs I've been carrying around for the last 20 years was a conversation I had with a family member. I think I've led a near magical life but somehow they saw my life as really sad. I couldn't figure it out until it clicked that they saw me as "the fat girl" so all other accomplishments somehow didn't count. Now - While I can't control what other people think, I will be attending my niece's college graduation in a few weeks, and I know family won't be thinking "too bad she's so fat".

Then - The next thing that got my attention was a number of friends who've ended up unemployed in the last year have had a really difficult time paying their own health insurance premiums when their obesity was calculated into the premium. I had no idea that the insurance premiums I'd priced out would not be available to me if/when my job disappears. Now Ė Iím now down to Overweight BMI, and could get to Normal by the time I had to buy insurance as an individual if my job ended today.

Then -Finally, I decided I'd like to try internet dating on my 50th birthday coming up in October and there's no appearance category for "100 lbs to lose". Now Ė I met someone a few weeks after my 50th birthday so didnít even try Internet dating. However that relationship ended a few weeks ago so once Iím emotionally ready to try again I have no concerns about weight knocking me out of the dating pool.

Now for stats and pictures. Iíve updated my ticker (I do LOVE that thing). I didnít have the nerve to take my measurements at first so canít compare but can report my bra band size has gone from 42 inches to 34. My pants size has gone from 24 to 16.

Thank you all for being here. 3FC has been a daily part of my plan. I am looking forward to completing my 100 lb. weight loss and moving over to the Maintainers forum in the next year.

I wish I could say it went fast, but the years go so fast as I get older, and I've now discovered a way to slow time down.

And a side benefit of losing weight at age 49/50 is that it turns the clock back a bit as well!
