GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there are three that I thought were very worthy to be posted today, and I hope you can read them and read between the lines to the messages they convey-Ralph Mariston sure does have a way with words!!!!
Sure, it's a lot easier to think you've already missed the big opportunity than it is to make that opportunity work for you. And it's easier to assume you've done all you can than it is to put in just a little more effort to make absolutely sure.
It's much easier to tell yourself that you know all the answers than it is to go through the effort of learning something new. And it's much easier to talk about doing something than it is to actually get busy and do it.
But the easy way is not usually the best way. The best way is to do what you know is right. Do you know what is right? Of course you do.
You know that opportunity is always there for those who are willing to put in the work that it requires. You know that often your extra efforts can make the difference between spectacular success and mediocrity.
You know that the smartest people are those who have the courage to admit what they don't know. And you know that it takes more than just talk to make things happen.
You've seen how life works, and you've seen what makes the difference between success and failure. Keep that in mind when making your own choices, every moment, every day. Enjoy the benefits that come from choosing what is right and what is best.
-- Ralph Marston
-------------------
IT IS YOURS
Go ahead and think of the most wonderful thing you can visualize, the most fulfilling achievement you can imagine. Whatever it is, you can begin to truly enjoy and benefit from it this very moment, or any time you are ready to do so.
Because no matter what it is, its real value will come from the effort and commitment you put into achieving it. And no matter how ambitious it may be, or how distant its accomplishment may seem, you can begin to put effort into it right now.
What is it you truly desire? The instant you begin working your way there, the best of your desire, the true value of it, the authentic experience of it, begins to be yours. The real value of any achievement is not in the attainment, but in the attaining. Because whatever you do to arrive at that achievement, is what creates the value it holds for you.
Whatever you sincerely desire begins to be yours the moment you begin to reach for it. The value starts to build and accumulate as soon as you make the commitment and begin the process to get it done.
-- Ralph Marston
-------------------
ENTHUSIASTICALLY FORWARD
You can persist through every discouragement and when you do, anything is within your reach. In fact, the more discouragement you move beyond, the more valuable and magnificent will be the things you accomplish.
Certainly there are plenty of things which can frustrate and discourage you, but that doesn't mean you have to be frustrated or discouraged. You have a much better, much more effective, much more positive and fulfilling path that's yours to follow.
You can choose to persist, to rise above the challenges, no matter how difficult and complicated they may be. You can choose to keep moving enthusiastically ahead, and refuse to let anything discourage you.
Those things which might otherwise discourage you will positively energize and revitalize you when you're committed to reaching the goal. Those things which might otherwise be reasons to give up will instead compel you to move forward when the results you seek are meaningful enough.
Give no time or energy to being discouraged. It feels lousy and it does not get you anywhere. Instead, stand up tall, put a smile on your face and a spring in your step. Persist in doing what you know is right, what you know will make a positive difference for yourself and your world, and thrill to how absolutely great it can be.
-- Ralph Marston

My computer won't let me look at last weeks posts, it keeps freezing. This thing is cursed! Oh well, at least I am able to post here....another shorty before it freezes again.
JRED-HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! Hope you have a good one, remember to stay legal. Whatever you *want* to eat is not worth the set back...I know because I am still working on my vacation pounds!
DEBYJ-Hop right back on the wagon girl. You have to be determined or you will always find an excuse to eat illegal things. Over the summer, I became an expert at finding reasons why I should eat illegal stuff and now I am paying for it by re-losing the same pounds I had already lost before the summer!
MONET- Today I start the homeschooling with my youngest. It should be interesting, but considering he doesn't even turn 4 until the end of October, I think I can handle the alphabet and numbers for awhile! I will start with this A Beka book and go from there. I am not financially able to order any new curriculum right now but I am researching where I might go from here. How is your back doing??
I am posting before it freezes...better a few short ones than none!

Happy Birthday, JRed! Here is my little wizard friend, with a birthday surprise for you! :wizard:
:gift: Oh, no! He's done it again! :nose: Hope your birthday is happy anyway!
And I missed Mel and Melf birthdays last week! :hb: :hb: Hope you both had a great day!
I am so glad it is Monday so I can recover from the weekend! I barely got a minutes peace all weekend. In fact, I think I will go back to bed this morning! I wanted to try and catch up with what I missed end of last week, and felt overwhelmed!
GRACIOUS: I can relate to the desire not to purchase more curriculum if you can avoid it. At just four, you don't need stuff. Project oriented learning, like the measuring cup play, and helping to bake cookies, etc, will teach him more than a book will. And just plain old letters and numbers is a great foundation. Most children are not ready for formal learning until about 7. Studies have shown children who are taught nothing until 10 will catch up with their age mates in a matter of months! Have fun with him!
Later .....

Once again, GOOD MORNING!:wave:
Just got in from my walk/jog. Of course, I didn't feel like going today, still not 100% over whatever it is I have and even though I was asleep before 10pm last night I woke up feeling tired and drained. But, I pushed myself out and was quite surprised that I was able to do my 4.5 miles in 51:54. Now I feel like I'm starting off my week on a good note, or should I say foot!
FRUIT, too bad you couldn't of met up with MELF:( Sounds like you are going to be one busy gal with doing another job. Good luck with that. Check in and let us know what's happening to you, don't venture too far away and not touch base with us!!!!
JACKK, wow, a size 10 dress, that's going to be awesome! Celery sounds like a pretty color. Hoping they'll have a good sale on it for you. Do you have GROUP USA anywhere around you? They are in some of the outlet malls and they have some of the most beautiful dresses (bridal/prom/MOTB, etc) and very inexpensive, at least I think so. And remember, do check out Penney's. I know you will find a perfect dress at a great price. At least you aren't leaving it til the last minute, something I'm notorious for doing! Your ribs sounds delicious! What bbq sauce recipe did you use/make? I agree, I wouldn't waste the agave in sweetening tea, it's too valuable to me and I like taste of stevia to sweeten my drinks anyhow. Cactus pears a/k/a prickly pears aren't anything like a regular pear. They are from an actual cactus. Check out this site: http://www.londonfruit.com/cactuspears.html so you can see what they are. We got the red ones, actually, they are a gorgeous fuchsia once you cut into them.
MELF, I will try to do so when I get a little time. I'd love to archive the pictures of the people we can on the board! I thought about this weeks poll last week and when you mentioned meeting 7 people so far from the board this morning I knew I picked a good poll to post this week:D I totally agree with having the wonderful experience of being able to meet others from the board!
LDBLOND, it's so easy for so many to give up totally and never return to this WOE when the going gets tough, but you have shown this is not the case with you. You come back with the knowledge that this WOE and the board are vital to you and your health. There are some things you cannot control but there are others you can and feeling better with eating OP and with the support of all of us on the board, you are going to feel better in the long run. I'm so happy you're back with us, and remember, should you stray ever again, as always, you'll be welcome back at any time, but I hope you'll just stick around for a really longggg time;)
MEL, glad to see your post-wondering what you were up to! Glad you had a nice bday. Was the bracelet you bought a present to yourself, or did DH tell you to go buy whatever you want and make it from him?
DEBY, I see you really enjoyed yourself yesterday!!! (said sarcastically, of course). It's okay if you are one of the few who do this once in a blue moon and can get right back on track. Unfortunately, I'm not one of those and when I cheat, I have a hard time getting back on track, something I need to try and work on. You do know that you CAN have alternatives at hand for days like this, and with football just starting you may want to make sure to plan ahead. Instead of the chips, why not use ww pita chips instead? Ice cream is okay if you can stop at a half cup (for me, it's a half gallon) and you CAN make some legal brownies (but I'd eat the whole pan). If I was there, I'd be giving you the "EYE", ask BOB, she'll explain! LOL!! You just want to make sure that this happens only once in a blue moon otherwise your body willl never be able to detox from the sugar, thus the cravings that come along with it.
JRED, I hope you have a wonderful birthday today!!! Let us know how you celebrate.
Okay, I'm outta here for today!
Have a good week everyone!

Happy Monday Gang!
It's going to be 96 here today. It was not too bad this a.m., it was 72 so my walk/job wasn't too bad.
I forgot to tell you all that I had this snack at the party the other night. It was like a taco filling wrapped up in a ww tortilla and sliced liked pinwheels. It was great. I asked the girl to get me the recipe. I will share when I do.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JRED. HOPE IT IS GREAT!!! :hb: :hat: :gift:
IDblond, So glad you are finding your way again. This is truly the best way of eating and the best place to get that support. Keep up the good work.
Mel, Glad you had a nice birthday. The next time you go to DQ, get their sf dilly bar. It's great and you don't feel cheated.
Debyj, Jump right back on that wagon today. One day slip-ups can turn into weeks, hurry and get back on track. Before the games next week make some SF brownies, cheesecake, other legal snacks. It is to easy to do. I saw a brownie recipie with cream cheese on the sweettalk board last week. Haven't tried it yet.
Gracious, Have fun with yur homeschooling today. I sure don't have the patience for that. But with a 4 yr old, I bet it can be fun. It's the older years I would be lost in. I agree with Monet. Teach him by showing him how they will actually use it later.My kids still say "whey do I need to know this, I'll never use it"
Monet, jump back in that bed and take a nap. Take one for me too. I am really sleepy today. :sp:
Deb, I will check out Penney's. I really haven't started looking. Just was in the store and saw that one. Was curious on what size I could fit into. They make those things so small. I found a BBQ recipe on the sweet talk board. It was very similar to the one I think you have posted, just a few more different spices. I liked it. No I won't waste my agave on tea. Never have tried stevia. I really like unsweetend tea too. I never feel like getting out there in the morning either, but I'm always glad when it's over that I did it. I especially liked the last MM. Thanks
Have a great Monday everyone!

Good morning all!! I am hoping to have a great week. I am going to work on my menus...... I know I am either too much of something legal or unknowingly eating something illegal!! My weight is not doing anything!! I am going to check out the recipe section. (I also have not been getting my usual exercise, for some reason I have not been motivated.....and now that I have said it, I am sure that is the reason!!) Okay, time to get up and get moving! I will check back in a little later!
Have a good one!

Good morning! Resting up after a looooooong day yesterday. leave got moved up a week. So--two weeks from today . . .
Couldn't realistically do it any sooner.
Mel and Melf--how could I have missed your birthdays???? I hope they were happy and that you two are the biggest loosers going this year!!!!!!:lol: hat: :cp:
JRed--the same for you!:gift: ::cb: Have a great day! I trust you have recovered from Saturday. If it makes you feel any better, the middies beat up some of our guys pretty bad and they will be out next week.
BOB--Not Auburn, my first and true love--NC State! Auburn did almost as well beating Western Carolina 56-0. Next week Vandy!
I found some huge avacadoes at Sams last week. They said they had 35% fewer calories and 50% less fat than regular. They taste pretty good to me! I ate one and will make some guacamole out of the other. Hope the congestion is going away.
Gator--You and BOB just kill me. All this nicey nicey talk :nose: Y'all ain't foolin' me.
OK--I have a huge back of cut up veggies in the fridge--snacks for the week! Need to go stock up on my yogurt. I'm trying to eat some every day for the calcium--as well as a glass of milk. Supposedly the calcium aids in weight loss--plus the yogurt is so good for the digestive system and for your skin.
Wednesday should be the only day I'm on the road this week--so hopefully I plan my food pretty well this week.
Have a good week everyone!

When I get back we'll have to compare notes! That where I'm going om my trip. Will be in Milford 9/22-10/5. Glad you had good news on the cysts!

Good Monday Morning, All. On my way to get the kids to school, but wanted to ready Deb's MM 1st thing.
Deb, thanks for the MM and for the vote of confidence. As for sticking around, you bet, I have no plans of going anywhere that doesn't include this group.
Gracious, everytime you post I find we have a little more in common. I too, am trying to homeschool my 3 1/2 year old boy. My next door neighboor is a former preschool teacher and has given me some goodies. Last week we worked on the letter O, because I knew he could recognize it and associate it with orange and circles. We did a little worksheet type stuff, but mostly hands on or finding the items in our everyday life. Seemed to work and he retained it.
JRED - Happy Birthday! Did you get any rain your way? We finally got something like .02 of an inch, but at least it was something considering it's been like 130 days
I'm off to get the kids to school! Have a great one!

Good morning!
Happy birthday, Jred! :gift:
Happy belated to Mel and Melf. :doh:
Started off last evening trying to get back OP fully. I’ve found my pots and pans :cp: so I have NO excuse not to cook at home now. I also signed up with a home grocery delivery service, so my fridge is very full.
We had grilled salmon last night, with steamed asparagus, and yellow squash salad (steamed yellow squash with garlic pepper and a little mayo, chilled). For Dan, I had sourdough garlic toast, but I confess I had a slice. It's still (barely) legal, at least.
I think I may have goofed this morning – I ordered “Brainy Bagels” from Natural Ovens. I love their breads, and especially like the high fiber content. Anyway, I had a bagel with some cream cheese, then read the label to find it had 6 grams sugar. They don’t add sugar per se, but it was sweetened with crystallized corn fructose. Is that legal? I know corn syrup isn’t, but I thought fruit and veggie based fructose (like in that Dannon Light n’ Fit yogurt) was legal. Can anyone enlighten me? :?:
I’ve got red grapes, a white nectarine, and Ln’F blueberry yogurt to snack on, along with a hard salami and cheddar sandwich for lunch. I know, it’s heavy on the starchy carbs today, so I’m planning on a Subway salad for dinner. I have a class Monday and Wednesday nights for a couple of months, so it’s straight from work to school for me. Ugh!
Anyhow, other than settling into the house and playing with the puppy, I tried to have a relaxing weekend. Watched “Kate and Leopold” on DVD, and have “Gosford Park” ready for later in the week.
We’re getting our marriage license tomorrow, and meeting with the organist on Thursday. Only 26 days until the wedding! Yikes! :yikes:
Hope everyone else had a good weekend. I’ll try to catch up on posts a bit later.

A brand new week to deal with... Started off with my treadmill this morning and drinking my water.. Think I'll skip breakfast and have an omelet for lunch. Going to try and stay away from the starchy carbs this week and see if I can get a little boost on my weight. Wish my book would come from e-bay so I could get to reading it!!! Maybe today... I need to run some errands soon so it will get me out of the house for awhile.. I'm getting way to lazy!!! Hope everyone had a good week-end..

I want to say hi to everyone here, i'm sorry i just haven't learned everyone's name and stories yet!!
OKay--okay, gonna get back on today!!! I"m not really too upset that i cheated over the weekend cause this is the first football season that i'm on the wagon---(alcohol abuser, sober since 4-7-02) Soooo, i tend to really crave sugar when others are drinking. Peeking in before I get dinner started.
LDBLOND-That is great….I have the nearly 4 year old boy, a six year old boy and an 8 year old girl..what do you have? Our first homeschooling session went very well. We worked on the Number 1, using blocks, a flashcard and a worksheet. We also did the Letter I, using the flashcard, worksheet and a song. I sticky tacked the cards to the kitchen wall and we have re-visited them numerous times today and it has stuck with him too! We also worked on our colours. He seems to have them all down pat but tends to forget blue and green…another few times and I think he will be fine.
MERCY- I also love the A Beka curriculum. It is fantastic because it is Christian and so academic. My daughter has done extremely well in Christian school using that curriculum and has won awards for her academics. She is now in Grade 3 and is enjoying it very much. My son, just went into Grade 1, reads fluently and does very well with his math. I credit the wonderful teachers and curriculum at our school with their success. Not to fail to mention prayer and the grace of God!
MELF-Great photos, thanks for posting them.
TONI-I was reading your earlier post when you mentioned that the last 39 lbs will be harder to lose than the first 44 lbs. You have done so very well and we all know it slows down near the end, just keep working at it. Tweak your menu and see what helps..then let me know! :lol: I have found that this last bit of weight has by far been the most difficult, but if we stay determined, we will do it!
JENN-Wow, your wedding is right around the corner. I trust you are feeling fully recovered from your surgery. Is your puppy housetraining well? Ours is doing very well now and I am glad of that!
DEBYJ-Better a bit of sugar or some carbs than messing up your fantastic record of being dry! {hugs} Congrats for getting over that hurdle.
I went offline to type this up from memory so I hope I didn’t mess up. It froze, as usual, so I am trying this way! Bye for now…gotta go make some zucchini lasagna for dinner again…we all loved it.

Just got back from a 2 mile walk. It's fixin' to rain, so didn't chance going any further. Plus, I go and lift weights in 20 minutes, so wanted to cool down just a bit. I think I was pretty legal this weekend, but must have eaten too much because I really felt yukky last night and this morning. I just had a small glass of grapefruit juice for breakfast and wasn't hungry until lunch, when I had a bowl of tuna salad and a wedge of honeydew melon.
Happy birthday to the Birthday of the Week girls!
Gotta go. Just wanted to check in.

I'm so glad this is a new week - to start fresh with good eating! In addition to committing to exercise at least 3 days and laying off starchy carbs, I'm going to post everyday. Even if it is just to say hello! Being accountable will help me to stay OP because I know I can't keep quiet when I cheat!
So far today, I've had scrambled eggs and coffee for breakfast. A salad and hamburger patty for lunch, with unsweetened tea. Does this sound OK so far? I think I need to read the SB book again as I seem to be forgetting a lot of the info. Maybe that wil be my goal for next week. I probably won't get to the gym today but will go tomorrow.
Ok, Quilter - I will be looking for a report from you since we are supposed to be doing this together this week. I believe Tranquil is jumping in on this also, except for the exercise that she can't do.
Deb, sorry about not calling you last night like I said I would. I went to Tranquil's for a delicious dinner, including blueberry cheesecake! It was so YUMMY and SB legal! :T It was rather late before I got home and thought I shouldn't call at that hour. I will try another night this week - which one is good for you?
Melf and Mel, Belated Birthday wishes to you both. Hope you had a great one!
JRED, Wishing you a wonderful birthday today! Hope you are doing something special to celebrate.
gracious, glad you are able to get on for a few short posts. I know there are a lot of resources online regarding homeschool curriculum, new and used. Have you checked those out?
Monet, I love the funny name on your signature!(Booger Gigglehiney) I just have to know - where does it come from? I've noticed quite a few others have one also, so I've apparently missed out on something fun.
I had my pelvic ultrasound done this morning. Looks like part of what is causing my pain and cramping is fluid accumulated around my left tube and ovary. Will see a new doctor in the next few weeks to see if anything will be done. Meanwhile, I won't get my hopes us for that elusive hysterectomy!
Will check in later - have to get some things done!
Take care,
Wendy

Hi checking in before I leave for the day. Heading home to fix ww pita pizzas and then to my DD last volleyball game. Nothing exciting with me.
Seems like a lot of SB back on track today. That's great. Good luck to all.
Fortytude, Post a couple days menues and someone will look them over for you. Good luck on that exercising.
Fillise, I just read an article in Reader's Digest about milk being the #1 food to keep you skinny. Of course that caught my eye. So now I am drinking more milk. They said cheese was good for you too. What kind of yogurt can we eat? Anything with fruit already in it? Have a good week. WTG on planning all yur food and having snacks ready.
Sef, Have a wonderful trip. We will miss you. Be safe.
Melf loved the pics. You are such a cutie and so thin.
Jenn, Gosh your wedding has gotten here quick. I hope you have enjoyed all the planning and most importantly enjoy the big day. Can't help on the bagels, but someone will I'm sure. SOunds like you are getting your new house in tip top shape.
Red 1, You are so pretty and thin. Congrats.
Toni, Guess we are getting your cold front, it's supposed to move in here Wed or Thurs. Still no rain though. You are up and at the exercise today. WTG
Debyj, Get rid of those brownies. They will call your name until you give in. Give them to a neighbor, kid, etc.
Gracious, yur dinner sounds delicious. Hope you get that computer fixed.
Gator, You are doing great with your exercising. Keep up the good work.
Serene, Your menu sounds good, but you need to stock up on some veggies and fruit. They will help fill you up. I try to always have veggies and fruit at lunch and veggies for dinner (3 or 4). Fruit for my snack before I get into the cheese and nuts. WTG on your exercise, posting and no carb committment this week. You should show a good loss for your efforts. I think I would insist on that hysterectomy if I were you.
Have a good evening everyone. Talk to you tomorrow.

For the birthday wishes, that is.... it was a really nice day, didn't do a lick of house work which is my usual Sunday fare. The bracelet I bought myself, because I had paid my Macy's bill twice somehow(!!! time for the looney bin) and had a credit- too good to be true! Practical me didn't blow it all since dh and ds need some clothes, bit it's a very nice bracelet. I hate buying clothes or much of anything else there, tho, cause I'm always thinking " I know I can get this chepaer somewhere else!"
Happy Birthday JRED!
Texas and Florida ladies: SEND RAIN! We're parched up here!

Okay---I tossed the brownies!!
In my glucose revolution book, it says that you can have sugar-free fat free yogurt--with fruit.
I also bought some sorbe sugar free cookies that are quite tasty. They are made with splenda
I also got some flaxseed oil which i read somewhere is good for you cause it helps regulate insulin with omega3 fatty acids, blah, blah-i have no idea what i'm talking about:shrug:
Anyway--gonna have some chicken tonite with a salad---but...i still have sugar free ice cream in the freezer and my pampered chef ice cream scoop!!!!:eek: This 9-11 thing is sooo depressing, i think it's making me want comfort food!!----i will post later!!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!! :wave:
DEB...I COULD HAVE VOTED MORE THAN ONCE!!!!! Where were the combo questions??????
I saw the strangest peaches yesterday...they were shaped like that flat white winter squash...only fuzzy and peach colored..
$.79 ea....wanted to...but didn't...
DEBJ...I got an email from my brother today....his first words???
IT'S GONNA BE A LOOOOOOOOOONG SEASON!!!. He was so disgusted. It bothers him more because he used to play there..he knows the potential...and sees it first hand that it's not being used!! :eek:
JEANIE.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRLFRIEND~!!!!!
Hope you have a good day...don't eat too much cake...
OH....DEBBIE....
DON'T EVER SAY YOU'RE GONNA PULL FOR "BAMA" TO AN AUBURN or TENNESSEE fan...Oh. you've gone a done it...it's bad enough when you say that to one of the SEC fans, but when you say it to an AUBURN FAN, you've gone as low as you can go!!!!
YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT WHAT WE DO HERE!!
JACKIE...:nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: Tell that new coach of yours that it's bad manners to run the score up like that...we only overlook it in the SWAMP ;) and I don't really think that's gonna happen too often there anymore :eek:
Payton did really good didn't he? If it's possible for him to improve, I really believe that he's gotten better. So glad they won! Didn't get to see Tim play yesterday...
Did everyone see my little ARSE picture from yesterday??? If not, please go back and look at it...it's so cute that
Now I'm wondering if Deb can put that in my signature somehow to use all the time!!! I think it's a good logo...don't y'all?????

Hello Everybody! I am feeling pretty ashamed of myself for not posting at all last week. Gosh, what a lousy thing to do to all my friends. You all were in my thoughts, but just had no time to post or catch up with all your wonderful posts.
Hello to all the newbies! Wow, it’s great to have so many new people gathering into our group. Keep working at this and keep posting. That’s the key.
I’ve been eating legal. That’s not the problem, but have seriously been thinking about the amount of starchy carbs I eat. So SERENE and I came up with a plan that she already told you about. We are cutting WAYYYYY back on the starchy carbs. Actually we are eliminating them all together for a few days. (Exactly how many did we say, S?) Iknow I’ve heard many of you speak of this tactic to get the scale moving in the right direction. I’m still sitting at five pounds lost and getting pretty frustrated that it’s not more. Yes, I’m the person who keeps saying just hang in there, be patient, and all that. But last week, I was really getting low about it. At this rate I’ll be collecting social security before I get to my goal weight. LOL
Here’s what I’ve eaten today:
breakfast: 4 oz cheese and one apple
lunch: apple, chicken drumstick and thigh (no skin), baggie filled with celery sticks
snack: peach
supper: big salad with lots of greens and sauteed mushrooms and cooked chicken on top.
Okay, I did drink a beer for supper, but I don’t call that a starchy carb!
If I get hungry after while, I’ll probably cut up another apple or possiblly have some cottage cheese.
A day without one single piece of bread. Eureka!!! It can be done!!!
How does that list of food sound?
SERENE: Thanks for getting after me on the board. You made me sit down and start typing. Let’s hear it for Tough Love. LOL. Hope your day is going well. Sounds like you are getting through without the starch. Way to go.
MELF: Okay, I missed last week, so please tell me who was in the pics with you. I swear, woman, you have met more people on this board than DEB. You sure do get around! That’s good though. We all need to regularly see somebody who’s met their goal and is staying t here. Thanks for all your great support.
JACK-K: Girl, it was a hot mama out there today here too. I am so sick of it. But here’s the really pitty thing. We have leaves already down in our front yard and need to rake already!!!! Somebody please tell me what that’s all about!!! Isn’t it a rule that when you rake leaves you need to be wearing sweatshirts and jeans???? Not shorts and a tank top for goodness sake. Do you make your ww pizzas on pita breads or do you have a recipe for ww pizza dough? Sounds yummy.
JRED: You probably won’t be reading this because you will be out celebrating your big day. But HAVE A HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY DAY. I hope you blow out all the candles and that your wishes come true!!! I know some of your wishes have already come true, because you are so much smaller now than you were when you started. That’s got to feel better than any birthday cake would taste.
TONI: Oh my gosh, girl. I couldn’t believe when I read your post and you said that you were going to stay off the starchy carbs. Wow, we are really in sync with each other. Sounds like you, me and SERENE came to this same idea about the same time. Good luck. I’ll be thinking of you every time I pass on a piece of bread.
DEB: Sorry to hear that you aren’t feeling well again. You got some bug and it doesn’t want to let you go. Hope you are back to 100% soon. How’s ELI? Hey, does Eli count on the people I’ve met on the board? If he does, then that puts me to FIVE (you, Narda, Kimmy and Chris, plus the E-man, but I don’t know if he counts). That sure is a good buy on magazines. We have let all our subscriptions end, except Paul still gets Modern Drummer because it’s so hard to find in the stores. I usually just go to the library and leaf through them there. Plus a girl I work with gives me her old Oprah mags. I love those. Years ago I got so many magazines I wouldn’t even get then all read.
Hey, I have a funny to tell you. Last night I was finishing up a book called Clay’s Quilt. It’s an excellent novel set in the mountains of Kentucky. But the last chapter started out with this sentence. “The quilter died on a cold spring day.” Yikes!!!! I about fell off the couch. That was VERY unsettling to me! I had to go get a glass of water and calm down.
One more thing I have to say about this no starchy carbs thing: I was NOT hungry today. That feeling of always wanting to stuff something in my mouth has disappeared. It may be all in my head because I’m not sure if one day can really show those kinds of results. But it sure has been nice today. I’m hoping I don’t cave tonight while I’m sitting watching tv. But I just wanted to share how different I feel today in comparison to the other days when I have way too many starchy carbs.
Take care, friends

BOB: We bought some of those seedless peaches last year. I guess they tasted okay, but I was having a hard time getting past how weird they looked. I think 79 cents is pretty high for a single peach. Our regulars were 88cents a pound at your favorite store. They had those deflated looking kind, but I just don't like them. I feel like they are unnatural and the product of some weird hormonal treatments.
Sorry the football season isn't going your way.

I received this in email today and thought it was worth sharing.
A true story. May it inspire you.
My son, Gilbert, was eight years old and had been in Cub Scouts only a short time. During one of his meetings he was handed a sheet of paper, a block of wood and four tires and told to return home and give all to "dad".
That was not an easy task for Gilbert to do. Dad was not receptive to doing things with his son. But Gilbert tried. Dad read the paper and scoffed at the idea of making a Pinewood Derby car with his young, eager son. The block of wood remained untouched as the weeks passed.
Finally, "Mom" stepped in to see if I could figure this all out. The project began. Having no carpentry skills, I decided it would be best if I simply read the directions and let Gilbert do the work. And he did. I read aloud the measurements, the rules of what we could do and what we couldn't do.
Within days, his block of wood was turning into a Pinewood Derby car. A little lopsided, but looking great (at least through the eyes of Mom).
Gilbert had not seen any of the other kids cars and was feeling pretty proud of his "Blue Lightning," the pride that comes with knowing you did something on your own.
Then the big night came. With his blue pinewood Derby car in his hand and pride in his heart we headed to the big race. Once there my little one's pride turned to humiliation. Gilbert's car was obviously the only car made entirely on his own. All the other cars were a father-son partnership, with cool paint jobs and sleek body styles made for speed.
A few of the boys giggled as they looked at Gilbert's lopsided, wobbly, unattractive vehicle. To add to the humiliation, Gilbert was the only boy without a man at his side. A couple of the boys who were from single parent homes at least had an uncle or grandfather by their side. Gilbert had "Mom".
As the race began, it was done in elimination fashion. You kept racing as long as you were the winner. One by one the cars raced down the finely sanded ramp. Finally it was between Gilbert and the sleekest, fastest looking car there. As the last race was about to begin, my wide eyed, shy eight year old asked if they could stop the race for a minute, because he wanted to pray. The race stopped.
Gilbert hit his knees, clutching his funny looking block of wood between his hands. With a wrinkled brow he set to converse with his Father. He prayed in earnest for a very long minute and a half. Then he stood, smile on his face and announced, "Okay, I am ready."
As the crowd cheered, a boy named Tommy stood with his father as their cars sped down the ramp. Gilbert stood with his Father within his heart and watched his block of wood wobble down the ramp with surprisingly great speed and rushed over the finish line a fraction of a second before Tommy's car.
Gilbert leaped into the air with a loud "Thank You!" as the crowd roared in approval. The Scout Master came up to Gilbert with microphone in hand and asked the obvious question, "So, you prayed to win, huh Gilbert?"
To which my young son answered, "Oh, no sir. That wouldn't be fair to ask God to help you beat someone else. I just asked Him to make it so I don't cry when I lose."
Children seem to have a wisdom far beyond us. Gilbert didn't ask God to win the race, he didn't ask God to fix the outcome, Gilbert asked God to give him strength in the outcome. When Gilbert first saw the other cars he didn't cry out to God, "No fair, they had a father's help!"
No, he went to his Father for strength. Perhaps we spend too much of our time asking God to rig the race, to make us number one, or too much time asking God to remove us from the struggles of life, when we should be seeking God's strength to get through the struggles.

Well I have a bit of a headache, getting ready to call it a day and hit the sack. But, I had to post because I miss you all - I feel like I miss out on so much if I don't read or post! I am still a bit puffy, but I know I am being good and that it will go away - sorry Deb for spreading the puffiness.....Toni - I like ww pita, but there are crackers at the hfs you can get to use that are made with rye or something legal....yummy...
Did not make the hummus or tabouli, instead I made the cheesecake - yummy - and a chicken recipe I found on this sight that has cream cheese, onion garlic, baked in a tinfoil pocket - it was good - I will have to leave Serene to tell you as she is the guinea pig right now.... I crushed blueberries for my cheesecake and I do have to say I loved it!!!!
Tonight was open house at school - so I had to go with exH and we kept changing classes just like we were students - it was fun - he and I had a really good time - those are the times you think back and remember why you married each other in the olden days....meanwhile, DS is doing well - needs a little improvement here and there - but they said that he is quiet, well mannered and they seemed to really like him! Meanwhile in his Soc Studies and Science - out 25 kids in the class - DS and another boy are the ONLY boys in class!!!!
Better go now straying from reality I am getting so sleepy.

Tingly nose--allergy season is approaching!
Thought I'd say hey before I go to bed. I'm printing some walking lists for one of my candidates--they take forever to print out.
BOB--I didn't take Deb's threat to root for Bama seriously. Like she would even know what to do! :lol: Long season my arse. At least you aren't sitting at 1-1 like a lot of teams (mine, gator's, and missy's for example). Perhaps if y'all played serious opponents early in the season. . . :s:
Gator--Hmmm, it seems to me that the SEC is off to a slow start this season. I want to say that the SEC is 1-2 with ACC teams. Your remember the ACC? The one that was only good for roundball?????;)
OK because I feel like I should talk about something that is remotley connected to our WOE in this post---I eat the Blue Bunny SF NF yogurt from Super Walmart. It is yummy--has all the calcium and NONE of the bad stuff! It is sweetened with Splenda--which is better than Aspartame as far as I'm concerned.
Jenn--are you getting excited with the wedding so close? Or do you feel like you have a million things to do before you get excited?
Kim--sure we miss you when you don't post, but you should't feel shame. We all get busy and a girl has to do what a girl has to do! I'm probably going to disappear myself for a lot of October when the campaigns really heat up--so it happens!
I'm sleepy now so I'm going to bed. Nity nite everyone!

I took a good nap yesterday morning...and will probably take one today too. I don't think I sleep very well at night.
Made tabouli and hummus and some Greek style beef for dinner last night. Yum! I could eat that kind of stuff every night.
My hubby is really sticking to the SB guidelines now. His cholesterol was very high as were his triglycerides. It is a mystery as to why...this man is Mr. Healthy. He runs three or four times a week, lifts weights three times a week, is careful about what he eats, drinks all his water and looks fabulous. (poor man has ME for wife! Why he loves me so much is a mystery too, but one I am thankful for...) The doctor put him on time release niacinamide. Anyone got any advice for getting triglycerides down?
SERENE: I very much enjoyed your 'true story' about the little boy and his race car.
I like the message it conveys...doesn't matter if we are lopsided, or crude looking..
we can be winners. The idea of asking God to help him not to cry when he lost was
precious...I think I will keep that in mind for my trials! The name on my signature was from the Captain Underwear post someone did about 3 or 4 months ago. Perhaps they will repost it, and you can figure out your cool new name! ;)
TRANQUIL: What time is dinner? If Serene wants to give up the position of guinea pig, :T
I am applying for the job! Hope you are feeling better.
MELF: Thanks for the pictures! It was fun to put faces with names!
LDBLOND: I homeschooled my children for eight years. It sure was an adventure. Why are
you trying to homeschool a 3 1/2 year old? I got started with homeschooling through Raymond
and Dorothy Moore's books. They were of the philosophy 'better late than early'. It sure
is easy if you just wait until the child is dragging the school books to you and begging
you to teach them! ;) Thankfully, there were a lot of homeschoolers in our church, and we
had plenty of support and fellowship.
JENN: I hope you are doing fine with the wedding plans! My daughter got married in June
so I am very aware of what you are going through! Hope it all works out perfectly, and if
it doesn't, you can laugh at it!
TONI: Did my treadmill yesterday. It was not easy as I felt pretty lousy. It felt good
to get it done though! I find reading while I walk on it helps me to get on. Any excuse
to read!
DEBYJ: Good for you in tossing out the brownies! Were those cookies made with whole
grains? Even if they are sugarfree, if they are made with white flour, you ought to avoid
them. I find if I eat those 'goodies' it creates cravings for more. If I concentrate on
fruits and veggies, the cravings go away.
QUILT: How is the no carbs going for you? Since I used to do low carb, I know it can be
hard to get started, but once you get past the first few days, the cravings for bread go
away. Hope this helps you. I am a turtle slow loser, and sometimes eating very low carbs
helps. Of course, the boatload of medicine helps too, but not as much as I would like...
FILLISE: Hope your allergies don't bother you. Especially with how busy you are! How is the
sweet little Belle kitty?
BOB: I hope your football season improves. Except of course, when your team plays UGA...
DEB: Hope you are doing great! Went to Harry's yesterday, and thought of you. They have changed it all around! I was totally lost! I looked for agave, but I am not one of the lucky ones who finds it on a shelf somewhere. Whine.
Today I start classes with my private art student. Better go and get prepared! Have a great day all!

Happy Tuesday Gang!:)
Nothing going on with me. Didn't sleep to well last nite. I was so tired. I think when I'm that tired, I can't sleep. Turned over when the alarm went off so I didn't get my walk or workout in. Will have to do it tonite. It would have been a lot cooler this morning. Oh well:(
Mel,You may think you are losing your mind about paying your bill twice, but at least it was a good surprise. You should treat yuorself sometimes.
Debyj, Good for you tossing those brownies. Those cookies are probably made with white or enriched flour. Not legal. Check them out. I love my SF ice cream, but I have a hard time controling it. Who ever heard of eating 1/2 cup???
Bob, We didn't run up the score, we were using all the "walk-ons". We would have had to quit to keep the score down. Tim didn't play due to scar tissue in his elbow. His replacement did a heck of a job. Tim could be out of work??
Quilter, I was just thinking about you. You had better get back on here. Give yourself some credit. You have done great so far. We all get in the same boat, wanting to lose quicker, frustrated with stalls. But don't you feel better? Clothes fit better? I though so. Good idea on the carbs. Just don't do it too long. You meals look good, except for the BEER. Don't think that is legal. I used pitas for my pizza, cut mine in have and topped both halves. I do make the ww crust but my kinds like the pitas better. What's up the the leaves. I hate to rake leaves at all, much less in the heat. Yuk! Hang in here. Keep posting, we miss you when your gone.
Serene, Sweet little story. Makes you think. Good luck at the Drs. WTG on the scale.
Tranquil, Share oiur chicken recipe please. It sounds yummy. I used to love "mock" schedule night. I miss that now that my girls have graduated. Glad DS is doing well and I bet he is loving the fact he is 1 of the only 2 boys in the class.
Fillise, Just to stick in my 2 cents, my team is 2-0. I'm gonna have to lkook for BLue Bunny yogurt. I miss yogurt. Didn't know what kind to buy. My Wal-mart probably doesn't carry that brand. Hope things don't get too crazy for you at work.
Monet, I think that cholestrol stuff is hereditary. We ate every fried thing in the world growing up and mine is very low. Go figure. I don't sleep well at night either. But I don't think my boss would like it very much if I took a nap. LOL. We all know why your DH loves. You are such a sweet and caring and loving person.
Have a great day everyone. Will check in later.

I can't believe I made it to the end of the page and I am still here! Perhaps the computer is having pity on me. I am attempting a small post...let's see what happens...
QUILTER-I was missing you! Glad you are back. I am doing my own personal exercise challenge this week. The past 2 weeks, when I lost those 6 lbs, I had cut out all starchy carbs, fruit and anything overly carb'd. Yesterday, I added back in a WW pita toasted for breakfast, but kept that as my only starch. I did the same for today. Since last WIW, I haven't lost anything and I know that is a sign for me to up my carb intake a bit, hence the pita. Let us know how it works for you!
SERENE-Amen to your post. I loved it.
I dare not scroll up to see the posts. Just to say I am off to do my 2 mile WATP tape and then will go into Fredericton for an errand and walk across the St John River walking bridge with the kids after school to add to my exercise. It is probably over a mile there and back.
LDBLOND-Oh yes, today was Number 2 and the Letter Uu! He is loving it and was so excited to start this morning.

Can you cope? It didn't freeze!
BOB- I loved the pic of the donkey in the fridge!
FRUIT-How is Cozmo doing at home, I haven't seen you mention him...mind you, you haven't been posting much either!
DEBYJ- I agree with JACK-K, those Sorbee cookies might be sugarfree but I know they are made with illegal flour. I have checked them out before. You might be missing the sugar in them, but the white/enriched flour is illegal and is high on the glycemic index.
JACK-K-Tell me about it! 1/2 cup ice cream is a joke. I used to use a soup bowl in my fatter days! Now I use a small dessert dish or ramekin...but fill those too. Just last night I had a bowl of it..very yummy!
MONET-You teach art class on top of everything else that you do? Yikes...you do it all!
Okay...I am outta here before it crashes again. I can't believe I got this far!

Dare I? Someone asked about our crazy names...here is the post to figure out your new name!
The following is an excerpt from a children's book, "Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants", by Dave Pilkey:
The evil Professor forces everyone to assume new names...Use the third letter of your first name to determine your New first name:
Use the second letter of your last name to determine the first half of your new last name:
a = diaper
b = toilet
c = giggle
d = burger
e = girdle
f = barf
g = lizard
h = waffle
i = cootie
j = monkey
k = potty
l = liver
m = banana
n = rhino
o = bubble
p = hamster
q = toad
r = gizzard
s = pizza
t = gerbil
u = chicken
v = pickle
w = chuckle
x = tofu
z = stinker
Use the fourth letter of your last name to determine the second half of your new last name:
a = head
b = mouth
c = face
d = nose
e = tush
f = breath
g = pants
h = shorts
i = lips
j = honker
k = butt
l = brain
m = tushie
n = chunks
o = hiney
p = biscuits
q = toes
r = buns
s = fanny
t = sniffer
u = sprinkles
v = kisser
w = squirt
x = humperdinck
y = brains
z = juice
Thus, for example, George W. Bush's new name is Goober Chickenshorts.
Bill Clinton's name is Booger Liverchunks.
And remember that children laugh an average of 146 times a day, adults laugh an average of 4 times a day.
Put more laughter in your life!!!

A quick hello this morning!
Jack-K--look for th Blue Bunny--it is really good! I know your team is 2-0, but for some reason folks in this state like to pretend that UK isn't a real team. What's up with that?
Serene--Glad the scale is moving down. After my initial fascination with the new digital scale, I'm trying to go back to weighing once a week!
Monet--actually my allergies have bothered me less since I've been on SB! I've also had fewer colds--but I think the campaign stress might weaken the ole immune system a tad this year. So far just an itchy nose and some sneezes, if it doesn't get worse than this I'll be OK! I'm comming through Atlanta next week--if I get to come by myself I'd love to see you--I may, however, have a carload of folks with me who won't want to stop and play.
Time to get to work--Have a good day everyone!

QUICKIE...
Sorry, I don't have time to get in a post this morning. I am chairing a fund raiser for Michael's academy at school this evening and have lots to do to get ready for it. Just finished making some signs.
Did get in my 4.5 miles this morning. Seemed a little easier and was a little better time 50:24. Even did some weeding afterwards.
Please remember, TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST I don't know if I will be home from the meeting tonight in time or not, but if I am I will try to join in. Hate missing out on the chats lately, but haven't had much choice in the matter. I don't foresee any reason I can't next week though!
Will try my darndest to post something this afternoon if I find myself with any time, though it doesn't look hopeful.
Have a wonderful day today, oh yes, and remember, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! I wish you all luck on the scale!

Good morning. Sitting here with the kids trying to keep them focused. My son is in anti school mode this moring...what's new these days. He can be such a challenge. Two of my kids use ACE and three are using Alpha Omega. My youngest is going to be the first that I've taught 100 percent with no public school at all. He is five.
Eating is going well, had a little nibble last night of some cocounut cake...but other than that eating OP. Not as much as I should because I still don't have my appetite back yet. I'm fixing to work out. That is one area I need to work on. I've been gone from the house alot so I haven't had the time I usually have. Last week I only got in two 3 mile walks and two workouts...ugh..but better than none I guess.
I'm with the no starchy carb ladies this week. I've got to do something. I'm tired of being stuck at this weight and I know it's my own fault and I need to get re-modivated.
I LOVED the picture of the donkey in the fridge.
Quilter...hang in there. The scales will get moving again. You just have to find the thing that clicks for you.
Monet...thanks for the inside about waiting to homeschool..I needed the reminder to take the pressure of when my kids don't seem to be as far along as some of the other kids. I KNOW that they will get there...but it's good to hear. Especially with my five year old.
Gracious....sorry your computer keeps giving you a hard time. I know it's not very fun to lose you long post and stuff.
Deb...hope you have a good fund raiser today.
Serene...yeah that the scales are already being nicer!!!
Tranquil..how is your foot doing now? Are you feeling better?
Jenn....praying you have a super wedding. Are you recovering well from your operation?
Well, I've missed more than half of you but the kids are being rowdy...sorry. You are all important and loved. Thanks for sharing your day with us. I love coming here to read about you all.
Love,
Crystle

Hey All!
Going to try and get in a few replies while I have a little free time.
Have to be back at the kids school about 5:30is this evening. We have our BOARD MEETING at 6pm and I have to have everything set up before that. ELI is brining SB COFFEE and some pastries and I have some board members bringing some desserts as well. ELI supplied us with a slew of door prizes to give away. Hopefully we'll have a good showing. It's an election day here today, plus being dinner time. Out of 550 families we hope at least 200 or so show up and of course, I hope that more than that buy something. At 7pm we have the ACADEMY NIGHT meeting and then after that we have a GENERAL BOARD MEETING for all parents to attend, if they want. So, this is the reason I most likely won't be at chat tonight. The GBM doesn't start til 8pm and that's IF we are running on time or Academy Night.
Would you believe, my neighbor calls me up last night and tells me that the case of agave I ordered from her longgggg ago, that she never used it and doesn't know if she ever will, so she offered it back to me! Someone up there must like me! Of course, I was more than happy to rescue it from her hands. She didn't want any money for it but I am going to pay her for it anyhow. I can't just take it, it's just not right.
I had done sooo good yesterday, all day and into the evening UNTIL MR. ENABLER a/k/a ELI came home with CHOCOLATE COVERED COFFEE BEANS as well as some SB'S CHOC. COFFEE BARS. Sad to say, I succumbed and ate an entire chocolate bar and a good amount of beans. I was fine up until then, was so good all day long. I'd never screwed up if he hadn't brought that crap home. I swear, when it comes to something that I can't normally get my hands on, I go nuts. I think he enjoys seeing me screw up from time-to-time. Anyhow, I'm back on track today, at least so far. I don't see myself giving in so easily today. AND, would you believe, I ate that chocolate bar even though it had that white coating on it from going from cold to hot and cold again. Doesn't taste bad, but sure does look funky-but that sure didn't stop me!:rolleyes:
If anyone is interested in seeing the pictures from Michael's 16th bday party, here's the link:
I just didn't want to post them on the board and bore anyone!
FORTY, are you journaling your foods at all? If you don't eat enough it can be just as bad as easting too much. It may be something very simple. Also, you may be at a stall just do to hormones. There can be many reasons. As long as you know you are eating OP then I wouldn't worry too much about the stall, it will give soon. Would be happy to help you figure things out if you'd like, well, at least from the eating standpoint.
JENN, sorry, but the bread wouldn't be okay per SB RULES. All fructose in this country is now made with corn, unfortuntately and it is a form of sugar. BUT, if it had only 3 grams of sugar per serving, you'd be okay under SB GUIDELINES, but anything above 3 is a nono:nono: Can't believe the wedding is coming up so quickly, are you more nervous or excited, or both???
TONI, skip breakfast? Not a good idea, I think, unless you have to force yourself to eat. Better to eat breakfast, fuels the day. Good going on the TM, keep up the great work. Which book are you waiting on from Ebay? Did I miss something?
DEBY, I'm sure as the days go on you'll be able to resist the sugar cravings. It's just hard to do unless you let your body totally detox. It's like if you were trying to stop drinking but allowed yourself a little taste of liquor each day, you'd never stop, same for smoking, taking a few drags a day you'll never quit. Same goes with sugar. Of course, doing something is better than nothing, but if you would allow yourself to detox from the sugar and other crappy foods, you will no longer crave them. Take a 3 day challenge and see what happens. It seems to take me a good 3 days to detox. This of course, is just my opinion-you know what's best for you;) I buy FF yogurt and will put some pureed fruit with a little sweetener in it, it's delicious. Also, think about making yogurt cheese too, very good. Just make sure the yogurt you buy does NOT have gelatin in it. I don't think those SORBE cookies are totally legal. I think they aren't made with WW flour-you may want to check the ingredient listing.
BOB, you could of voted for any of the poll questions, you'd just of had to done it all at the same time. I buy those peaches you mentioned. They are called SATURN or DONUT peaches. They have a white flesh and if you get some good ones, they're really tasty. Publix here has had them for .79 cents a pound, a good price considering Walmart had been selling them earlier for .79 a piece. Maybe the Publix down here has them mismarked.
QUILTER, don't worry about posting last week, at least we know we were in your thoughts. We know that each of us can get a bit busy and the board takes a back seat sometimes, but that it doesn't last for long (hopefully). It's good to be conscience of the starchy carbs and I think for many of us, myself included, we do tend to eat more than we should. I think it's more a portion thing. For instance, when I eat a ww tortilla, even though it's just one, it's actually equalling 2 carbs. If you can keep your carbs down to 2-3 a day, that's the best. It's hard to cut the starchy carbs out of your daily intake, but not impossible. I did try it, but it didn't last for long. I'm not a big carb lover but I do like to have my 2-3 day allotment (and then some, that there lies the problem sometimes). Wrong girlfriend, I'm still the one who's met the most people on the board. I think I'm up to 19. Nope, ELI doesn't count, at least not in the respect taht he's not an active participant of the board. Thanks for asking about the old fart. He's doing well, working hard and looks it! How's Paul, the young buck:s:
TRANQUIL, I don't know what kind of board withdrawls you'll be experiencing while you are in the UK! OMG, it may be worse than sugar detox!! LOL!!
FILLISE, okay, so I confess, I wouldn't be a good cheerleader for any team beyond yelling GO, GO, GO!!!!! Hmmm, BB yogurt? Can you tell what the ingredients are in there? I really try hard to stay away from the stuff that has things I can't pronounce, much less know what the heck is in them. The only ice cream I've found that proves to be "pure" is Breyers, and of course, that's the plain flavors. Is there any other brands known like that?
MONET, I do have to agree, your DH does look fabulous from the pics you had shown me. I hope the changes at Harry's are good ones! I don't remember seeing the agave when we went-if we did, I was more focused on the chocolates! I'm hoping my Mom tells me she's going to go through Hotlanta on the way home, if so, I'll see if she can get me some more bread from there. Find anything else good there?
JACKK, hope you have a better night tonight-I didn't sleep well at all last night either. May have something to do with the chocolate and the coffee that was in it I ate late last night:^:
GRACIOUS, FRUIT posted this months ago and I loved it, though it was too close to being accurate. I'm LUMPY GIRDLETUSH
MERCY, for me, I started to feel different right before I turned 40 last year. The Dr. told me I'd start seeing some changes and I poo-pooed him. Little did I realize! I started having night sweats-boy, those sure are fun! I just hope I don't see any other signs come along any time soon-I DON'T LIKE IT A BIT!!!!! Glad you liked the cheesecake, seems everyone does.
ATLANTA MOM, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign2.jpg Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD. I can see now, you, TRANQUIL & BOB will have a lot in common-they too think that going shopping is a form of exercise! You also have something in common with MONET, as you both live in the Atlanta area and have the good fortune of being able to shop at Harry's! Don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have, we are all more than happy to help! Looking forward to getting to know you better CRUSTY COOTIETUSH!
COUNTRY, playing teacher sure could be taxing at times, I'm sure. Like you said, some exercise is better than nothing, which is what many people tend to do, or not do, so be proud of what you were able to get in, it IS better than nothing.
SERENE, are you and TRANQUIL going for walks this week? Make sure you eat enough! Don't get so caught up with things that you don't. Yeah, yeah, I bet you and TRANQUIL were having such a wonderful time you just forgot to call me:( Blueberry cheesecake? Did she just spread some on the top or were there blueberries inside instead/as well? Sounds yummy!!!!! Oh, anytime in the evening is good for me, esp. after 8pm except for tonight, or during BB!
MEL, how can you forget you paid the bill? It's hard enough for me to pay mine just once, but to do it twice? That's something a goyim does, not a Jew:rolleyes: But of course, being the :queen: Queen I know you to be, you did us Jewish women proud and spent that money and made us proud:) BTW, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!My goodness, I do seem to of gotten caught up! YIPEEE!!! Okay, now I can go and take a shower, I'm starting to ferment!
Will try to check in later tonight, otherwise it will be sometimes tomorrow afternoon. My Sister needs me to go pick her and the kids up tomorrow morning while she gets he car fixed and then I have to run a few errands for my Mom, so I'll be out most of the day.
Toodles

Well, I am so proud to know that my new name is
ZIPPY CHICKENTUSH Glad I didn't know this tidbit of information before I went to the doctor today. My appointment was with the head doctor, not the body doctor. Finding out this kind of thing would really have hindered the progress of getting all those people in my head to work as a team! :joker:
Actually - I love it! Thanks, gracious, for posting that again. I've never heard of the children's book that it came from. Is that a fairly recent one or has it been around for a while?
Fillise- I understand the initial fascination with the digital scale. When I first got mine, I was stepping on it constantly. And if I woke up during the night to use the potty - well, then I would get on it twice - before and after. The fascination has now calmed down to a love/hate relationship - something I guess we can all relate to.
Atlanta Moma - aka - Crusty Cootietush - welcome to the board. We aren't always so silly - sometimes it is worse! A good laugh helps to get through this way of eating.
CountryMom, come on and just join us no starchy carb ladies! If I were so close to goal, and had done as well as you, I think it would be easy for me to get complacent. Just having the scale move down one pound was very exciting and motivating for me this morning!
Deb,NO ! Tranquil and I aren't going for walks this week as she is supposed to stay off that foot as much as possible. Remember, the foot that was hurting so much when we came for our visit? :foot: I really didn't forget to call you Sunday night. We were eating cheesecake and watching the season finale of one of our favorite shows - so we have our priorities you know! The blueberries were cooked in the cheesecake and it was heavenly! I will call you one night this week for sure! Don't worry, it won't be during BB since I watch that also. Thanks for the link to view the birthday pictures. I plan to do that as soon as I finish my post.l
Jack - Thanks for the advice about the fruits and veggies. I did get stocked up on some. I was craving more protein yesterday when I wasn't having the carbs. Today is the same way. Is that about normal or just me being weird? I am going to do my best to get that hysterectomy done. I keep hearing it is harder to get one because of HMO red tape, or at least that is what the doctors like to say. I'm going to really push the issue when I go in to discuss my results with my new doctor.
Quilter, sounds like you are off to a good start on our plan! I knew you wouldn't let yourself down about getting back on the board. It is like our lifeline in this WOE! We didn't really name a specific amount of carbs when we chatted. I'm staying away from the breads, pastas and sweet potatoes, but allowing myself some fruits. My Mom came home last night from a visit to her sister in Georgia - and guess what she brought back for me. A large bad of gorgeous Georgia grown sweet potatoes!:yikes: I couldn't believe it! I put them aside and will allow myself one later in the week. Isn't there a new beer out that is very low in carbs? I'm not a beer drinker, but seems like I saw an advertisement for it. Wonder if that would be ok to drink? I hope you can make it to chat tonight!
The chicken dish that Tranquil made Sunday night, was a recipe from the board. It had cream cheese, onions, mushrooms, chicken breasts - and I can't remember what else. It was very tasty.:T I've already mentioned how good the cheesecake was, however, I will say it again - YUMMY! Thanks T, for another delicious dinner! I'm sure she would have an extra seat at the table for anyone that wanted to come be a guinea pig for one of her meals!
monet, glad you enjoyed the true story also. It made me think of myself, always asking for God to take the problem away instead of asking for strength to deal with it.
melf, I enjoyed the pics you posted. If your visit was anything like the one we had in St. Augustine, then I know it was wonderful!
Have to get busy once again - need to do some serious yard work before I have a jungle on my hands.
Take Care,
Wendy aka Zippy Chickentush

Hey, what's this thing about Advertising of any kind being illegal???
Ok, I'm trying to play catch up here, so I actually started at the beginning of this week's board & will try to respond to as many as I can.
Zanne, Monet, Fillis, Jenn in MN, Mercy, Rosalie, Gator, Serene, Thanks for the belated BD wishes!
Debbie, I loved this week's poll question. I was able to check off 3 of them. I have not given up hope in someday meeting you also. :D
LDBLOND, I am also happy to see you back on the board! Did your ears ring Friday? Red1 & I talked about you & Nancy. She mentioned wanted to try to meet with you since the 2 of you are not that far from each other.
Rosemary, fortytude, Glad to hear that you have decided to try SB & found your way to this board! A little late, but WELCOME! Doing a menu ahead of time is a good idea so that you can plan & shop ahead to have everything ready to fix. That way you're not tempted to fix illegal stuff at the last minute. Sounds like you're on the right track. Hey, there will be periods of stand-still with the scale, but hang in there & it will move again.
Jenn in MN, That is exciting that you are starting to settle in to your new home. Hope you are recovering ok after your surgery.
debyj, Congrats on being sober for the past 5 months! That in itself is a great complishment. You hang in there. You will soon learn to make wiser choices when the cravings come. Be prepared with some legal snacks when you know others will be drinking, that way even if you overdo it, you won't feel so bad about it. Good for you for tossing out those leftover brownies!
Serene, Hope you can see a new doc soon to see about taking care of that discomfort due to the cyst & ovary. Great on your new determination to exercise 3 days a week. That is what I need to do, I'm just having a real hard time getting back into an exercise program because I enjoy walking most of all, but it's just too hot & too humid to get out there. I do have an exercise machine that I know I should try to get back on, I just don't seem to be motivated enough to do it. "( OH, LOVED your true story about the boy & the derby too. Thanks for posting it.
Jack-K Thanks for the compliment, but surely you jest! Me?? cute?? I think not, but I am the way God made me & I have learned to live with that. :lol: I DO love the color of my hair & a few other things, like being as active as I am for age 54 :yikes: :lol: But I am proud of myself for loosing the weight, getting to goal, & yes, for maintaing it. And yes, I absolutely agree with you that Red1 IS pretty!
Meliris Sounds like you had a great birthday & what a special treat for you to find that you over paid a bill! I wish we could send you some of our :rain: too. We have not been able to cut grass & there is a lake under my house:yikes:
QUILTER/Kim, Good for you to take Serene's challenge. Sounds like a great plan to boost your loses. OK, the pictures are of me & Red1 (Cyndi) from Ridgecrest, CA. They were down in New Orleans & we set up a meeting. Posted all about it on Sunday. We had a great time.
Tranquil, Hope you're feeling better by now. Hey, does your son enjoy those classes with the 23:2 ratio? :lol: I think he's about my GS's age if my memory serves me correctly & I know boys that age are getting an interest in girls. I know my GS would probably :love: a class with that many girls in it. LOL
FILLISE, I love the Blue Bunny Lite SF FF Yogart! I need to go to WM & pick up some more cause I'm running low. I eat that alot of mornings either with my oatmeal or Uncle Sam's cereal. Perfect sweetener!
Well, I've gotten to the end of last night's posts anyway, but I need to run to the bank then pick up my GS at school & bring him to the Library. Will try to get back & pick up where I left off. It's good to be able to finally get a chance to catch up with the reading & posting. I really miss all of you when I don't get a chance to read. Have a great day ya'll!!!

My art student was a sweetie...and very talented. Its going to be fun working with him. He wants to do it all...watercolor, pastel, drawing, sculpture... it will keep me on my toes for sure!
FILLISE: If you get through Atlanta, and have time, I would love to try and meet you! Just let me know!
DEB: Nothing new at Harry's... if your mom can't get you the bread, and you want it, just ask. I would be happy to send some to you.
ATLANTA: Welcome! Where are you? I am in the Peachtree Corners area.....

Got to post this quick, boss is coming to do work. YUK
Gracious, your exercising sounds good. The walk over the river sounds like fun.
Fillise, Hey, my team is to a real team. We just usually stink. Now when BB comes around, that is totally a different story. Watch out.
Deb, hope you raise a lot of money tonite. Also hope you make it back for chat. We miss you.
Mercy, Sorry you won't be at chat tonite. I always enjoy chatting with you. Have fun at open house.
Country, Sounds like you have been busy. Yes a little exercise is better than none. Sounds like you did pretty good to me though.
Deb, Sounds like you are running ragged today. What’s wrong with the husband of yours? Is he crazy? He should know better than to bring the stuff home. I’m surprised you weren’t WIDE awake all nite. Did you send the rest of it back with him? Glad you are back on track today. Don’t eat the goodies at school tonite. Man you are swimming in the agave. Lucky you.
Atlanta Mom, Welcome. This is a great board for support and friendship. Join us at chat tonite. Looking forward to getting to know you.
Serene, I’m sure craving protein is normal, especially when not eating carbs. Good luck on your no carb week.
Melf, Don’t you find that there are so many more things you like about yourself now that you have lost the weight? I sure do. I think maintaining may be the hardest part. I’m not that far behind you in age. Being active keeps you young.
Hope to make it to chat tonite.

Ok, I'm trying to finish up here & try to respond to as many as I can.
Not sure if I'll make it to chat tonight or not, but will try to remember. The few times I have, I've really enjoyed it.
BOB, That was a cute pic you posted of your arse??? ;) Was he checking to see if there was leftover chicken in the frig?? LOL
Monet, I love tabouli and hummus & other ME foods. Haven't made any in a while. You talking about it has made me hungry for some. Good idea!
Serene, Horrah for the scale going down! ZIPPY CHICKENTUSH?? :yikes: LOL Glad to hear you're back on track. Thanks for the compliment. Yes, Cyndi & I had a good visit & our DH's got on really well too.
Gracious, Too bad you're having all those computer problems. My DD & I were trying to chat last night online & her's kept freezing up on her too. What a mess. Mine use to freeze up alot too, but doesn't do it nearly as often now. My DH says it's because I have so much junk on it. That's his opinion, not mine :D Oh, just saw your post about the new names. Mine would be loopy Liverbrains :yikes:
Debbie, Sounds like you have a very busy day today! Loved the pis of Michael's BD party. Looks like he had a blast! Thanks for sharing those with us.
Mercy Sounds like you had a wonderful supper last night. I think I'll have to eventually break down & make Deb's cheesecake, but I'm afraid of what will happen if I do. Either DH will eat it all & not share with me or visa versa :lol:
Atlanta Mom, or Crusty Cootietush ;) welcome to the board!
CountryMom4Him, I'm sure home-schooling can't always be a breeze, but I admire you & others on the board that are attempting it. Our school systems are certainly not what they use to be. I'm just glad that I am beyond that phase of life :)
Jack-K Yes, I agree....there are more things that I do like about myself since I have lost the weight. I have a better over-all attitude about self. I really had a poor self-image before & have really been working on that as well. Maintaining is not too bad, but I find myself wanting to lose just a few more lbs & having a hard time doing it. I have had no problem staying between 133-136, but i'd much rather be below that. A lot of people are telling me that I should not lose more, but.... I feel that I should. I think if I would really get into exercise mode, I could do it. :shrug:
Heartmom, Was thinking about you earlier today. How are you? How is Boogie?? Has he had his surgery yet?
Well horray! I have made it to the bottom of all the posts! First time in a long time! Hope I didn't miss anyone!
Got to get to the kitchen & work on supper. Going to do something with eggplant, not sure what...& put some chicken patties on the Foreman Grill with a side salad I think. I remember someone had posted a recipe for eggplant, so I think I'll check out the recipe board to see if I can find something there. Later!! :wave:

Good evening... Haven't felt to great today so am late getting on... Feel like the whole day has past me by.. I laid around after having company this morning and finished my Eat yourself slim by Michael Montique... It was really interesting and made me better understand SB.. But did pose a question.. Are hot dogs OP? Well did a stupid thing got some sugar free candy off e-bay from an orchard. They're like fruit and nut kind of.. I was so excited and when I got the case and read the label I can't eat them... They have cornstarch in them and a couple of sweetners that I don't think I should eat... Dang I hate to have wasted my money on them.. Won't try that again..
gracious- Glad you got your post in before you froze up...
Fillise- Sounds like you're busy busy...
Debilli- Hope you got all your stuff done for the meeting tonight...Sounds like a big night and you've worked hard.. Oh darn you are so lucky with the agave.. Yum on the chocolate bars... Its over and now time to get back on...
Mercy- Your dinner sounds wonderful.. You make me hungry for baked fish and especially Deb's cheesecake..
CountryMom-Good luck on the no starchy carbs this week. It I don't lose this week I'll try that next.. That has to be so hard to homeschool children. I really admire all you women that do that..
Serene- Hope all went well at the doctor.. I'll have to go look at that chicken recipe.. Thanks for posting about it.. Hope you got some yardwork done..
Melf- Sounds like you're busy and doing fine...
Hi Monet and Jack-K

Lumpy Bubbletush signing in for the evening, and hopefully will meet you all on chat tonight if I can get kiddo in gear with some homework...... he is beside me working on it.....
JackK - you asked about the recipe: Creamy Chicken Pockets
From Sonya
4 chicken breasts, boned, skinned
4 T butter
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
1/2 medium onion, chopped
4 ozs. cream cheese
4 mushrooms, sliced
On a large piece of aluminum foil, place the chicken topped with the butter (1 T on each breast), garlic, onion and mushrooms. Cube the cream cheese and place it around the chicken. Fold up the sides of the foil and seal. Place the foil packet into a 350 degree oven and bake until completely cooked ( about an hour). Remove the chicken pieces first, then stir the sauce and spoon back over the meat.
It was delicious - found it on our site, posted by Sonya....
Monet - I bet you are THE cook, you sure do bake a mean cake and decorate them so well!!!! But you are more than welcome to come over for dinner anytime!
Toni - Sorry you are under the weather today - hope you are feeling better!!!
Bob - you are too funny....meanwhile, make sure you mention that it is SOUTH eastern coast where the problem is.... :)
Melf - My DS is totally gaga over the girls - he has Heather, his girlfriend too..... according to him a very pretty blonde girl.... I am still feeling a little edgy, must be sinuses and stress headache, keeps coming and going....
Atlanta Mom - Welcome!!!!!
Deb - Thank Goodness my hotel has free internet access!!!! One of the reasons it sparked my interest - so I will be posting from the Lovely UK!!! Won't you all just love that -
:smug:
Country - I too am cutting out the starchies.... Thanks for asking about the foot, trying to stay off of it as much as possible, wearing this ugly brace, but therapy and shots start on Friday morning - and it is supposed to get much better then! I miss my workouts and such...Oh and Boss is giving me his treadmill if I can have someone help me get it home... and just in time - a free treadmill when I cannot walk!!! hahaha
Well better help boy - he is giving me dirty looks!

Is recommending something we like considered advertising?
MY LAPTOP IS FIXED!!!!:D And guess what it was? The POWERPACK. The technician got a new one in a day and I've been waiting a month for a new motherboard, cpu and keyboard. He put them in so I practically have a brand new computer. I can really tell the difference with this keyboard and it feels good.
Thank you all for the good birthday wishes. I spent the whole day at school. After my teaching job, I went to my first graduate class from 4-9. We did get out a little early. One of my friends brought a birthday cake and the group sang "Happy Birthday" to me. BOB: I did eat a tiny piece of the cake because I hated to be rude. They didn't know I don't eat cake anymore. But when she tried to give it to me, I told her to take it home because she had more kids at her house who would eat it.
My birthday present: the loss of 2 more pounds this morning!!:cool: Debbj: I've been sitting at 160 since the first of July so I know how you feel about the stall. It feels good, though, when the scales drop.
Quilter: Don't you worry about your absence. We miss you and are glad when you check in. There are many things better about me this year than last. I'm grateful for that.
Deb: Isn't the beginning of the year busy? For parents who volunteer and for the teachers. October's going to be a busy month for me with meetings and classes.
Monet: I bet it's fun teaching art to someone as eager and talented as that young student.
Gracious & LDBlond: My 2 cents about formal teaching of little ones: Keep it simple. They learn best through active, hands on, play type activities. The paper and pencil will come soon enough. Make sure they have concrete activities, that's how they learn best. And READ READ READ aloud to your children. They are never too old to crawl up in your lap and listen to you read to them.
Atlanta Mom: Welcome to the board. I need to read the bio board and catch up on our newbies.
BOB: Oh my. Are you spying on me!!???:lol:
Melf: You and Red1 look great!!! Wish I could visit NO. I loved it there when I visited years ago. I bet it's quite different now.
DH got a job offer today from that company in Amarillo. Looks like he'll be renting a small apartment and coming home on weekends. I offered to relocate next summer after DD graduates from HS, but he said he really doesn't want us to have to move. He'd like our youngest to be able to graduate from here. But that's 5 years, so we'll have to wait and see.
Thunderwoman: How are you and the new baby girl doing? Hope sitting up is easier now.
Gotta run and figure out something to cook. Thinking it's going to be some frozen shrimp.
Now that the laptop is working, maybe I can get to chat tonight. Hope so!!!
Later y'all!

Hey! Hope your day went well. I must say that I felt really lousy this morning, tired, aching, illing belly. The usual thing. I wasn’t hungry for breakfast and decided to make a shake with blueberries and strawberries. I had been putting soy in it, but since MONET shared about soy and thyroid problems not being a good combination, I didn’t know what to do. So instead of the soy I put a container of yogurt and a cup of milk. Yummy. And boy did it hit the spot. I didn’t eat lunch until after 1:30. So that one shake held me all morning. Good stuff.
Tonight I came home and took the leftover chicken and made some yummy chicken/vegetable soup. I’m not a big fan of the flavor of chicken broth so I added a dollap of sour cream and that really made it good. I’ve done okay with the no starchy carbs again today. I already told you what the breakfast was. Lunch was a serving of chicken, some cottage cheese and some celery sticks and a sliced up peach. Snack was a sliced up apple. The the soup for supper. I think that’s a good amount to eat. I feel really full. We’ll see what happens at 10 p.m. Ha!
TRANQ---Sorry to hear that you have a case of the puffs. Not fun. I’m fts (fixin’ to start) this week, so I’ll be right there with you in a day or two. Hopefully, you’ll be done by then. I heard from SERENE that the cheesecake was wonderful. Good job! Did you eat it all right away. I wanted to put some in the freezer the last time I made it, but neer got any into that safe place. Now I’m wishing I had frozen some. Rats!
FILLISE---Thanks for missing me when I’m not around. You are so sweet. And I appreciate how understanding you are. Some times are just better and more cooperative to post. Hey, did that new couch come yet???? Fill me in on it. I never did hear, did you order the chair too?
MONET---Glad to hear that dh is on the band wagon now too. I sure do hope this woe helps with his cholesterol. Doesn’t make sense that somebody that fit and healthy could have anything out of balance. Hey, you just keep telling yourself that he’s lucky to have a wonderful wife like you. Sounds like you both are blessed! I have to admit that I’d like to have a triscuit right about now, but I promised SERENE that I’d try this for a few days and I’ve got to keep that promise. And the desire for the triscuits is not really that bad. I can see a difference in my feelings about food just after being off the starchy carbs for two days. Actually, Sunday I only had a ww pita for breakfast and that was it. So it’s almost three full days so far. I wonder what would happen if we did no starchy carbs during the weekdays and then allowed ourself a few starchy carbs on Saturday and Sunday. Would I have to detox all over again from them on Monday? Any thoughts???
JACK-K---Thanks for giving me a tender kick in the pants. LOL. You are right. We all have gone through these plateaus and they are no fun. I wish I was wearing a different size, but can’t see that a smaller size is necessary yet. I’ll tell you one thing . . . I feel so much better when I don’t gorge myself with food (legal or otherwise). It’s nice not to have that feeling of a belly that feels like it’s going to pop, because I just couldnt’ say no to that second helping of something or that next snack. Just so you know, I did NOT have a beer tonight. Seemed pretty stupid to do that again when I’m trying to see a loss on the scales. Hey, what did you mean, by not staying on the no starchy carbs for too long? Is that harmful?
GRACIOUS---Hey, it’s great to be missed! Thanks so much for the kind words. That’s interesting about needing to up your carbs. I haven’t stopped eating fruit or milk or other high carb things, just the bread, rice, pasta. All that good stuff. I love fruit and can’t imagine kicking it out of my diet. Besides it keeps me feeling much better in the digestive systems if you catch my drift.
DEB---Sounds like you got down and dirty with those coffee beans. Man, if I splurged on something like that I’d have been sick as a dog afterwards. I hope that didn’t happen to you. Hey, Michael’s party looked like so much fun. How cool for him. There were a ton of people there. Was that at your house? Who were the people singing and playing? Besides Michael. Hey, can you explain to me why one ww tortilla will count as two carbs? Does it have something to do with calculating something on the label? I can’t believe how subsided my appetite is right now. And this is PMS time too. Could it be a real live miracle.
SERENE---I am doing the same as you with eliminating just the starchy carbs like the breads. That’s a big sacrifice for me, because that’s my favorite food and that’s what I always get hungry for. When I was on weight watchers many, many years ago, my one girlfriend and I would borrow breads from the next day. Well, sooner than later we were eating breads for three months down the road!!! Can you tell why I failed at that eating program??? I’ve not heard about a low carb beer. Sounds interesting. I usually drink red wine when I want some alcohol, but DH put an entire 12-pack of beer in the fridge and I thought I’m help to make some room for real food. Ha! Well, it sounded like a good excuse at the time.
MELF---Thanks for setting me straight on the pics you posted. That’s so great that the two of you got to meet. I’ll have to go back to last week and read about your visit. Looks like you had fun.
Okay, that’s it for me! Hope to get on the chat later. I’ve got a ton of pans to wash in the kitchen. Yuck. I hate that job. I may comandeer dh to assist. That would be really sweet.
Catch ya later!

It's a sad day. I can't believe it has been a year. In other respects it seems like it has been a very long year. I hope everyone will pause for a moment today and remember . . .
I had planned to officially ignore all today's memorials--but you just can't. I have all my candidates off the campaign trail today since this is a day for us all to be united as Americans. I was going to hole up and catch up on some work, but you just can't. Life goes on. More importantley life has to go on--or the terrorists win and victory far more complete and far more devistating than that of 9/11.

Hello Everyone! Well, today I got up and turned on the tv and was immediately brought to the harsh reality that today will be very hard for many, many people. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who have lost loved ones and to all of us whose lives will never be the same. May we never forget those victims and those heros! Let's hug those we love just a whole lot harder this morning and say a prayer of thanks that we are still together.
I will report that my WIW showed me down three pounds. I guess the no starchy carbs thing is working. Do you all think I should add like one carb in for the rest of the week. This will be my third day with no starchy carbs. How long is too long to go like this?
SERENE----Thanks for trying to help me get to the chat last night. Sorry I couldn't get there. But it was nice (as always) talking to you a bit. Also another request. Please tell me about your digital scale. I would really like to get one,but don't know what kind is a good kind.
I'd better go. We are running late this morning. Yikes!
Hugs to you all,
Kim

WIW....9/11
A day to be grateful for our family, friends and the gracious care of God. A day to remember those lost on that fateful day and for those who risked their own lives to save others.
I am down only 1 lb this week, but I will take it. I knew I wouldn't be losing like the previous 2 weeks when I was back on the wagon, losing some water weight and doing little or no carbs.
A word to those who are cutting starchy carbs...I think it certainly works, but QUILTER, 3 days without starchy carbs is definitely not too long when you are still eating the other good carbs like fruit and veggies. It has obviously given you a boost with that 3 lb loss so why not keep it up another week? I find that when I am cutting way back on carbs that if I eat more protein and a bit more good fat, then it keeps me from craving the starchy carbs. I also think your idea of keeping the starchy carbs out until the weekend is a good way to deal with your *need* to have some, just keep them to the 2-3 servings of legal carbs and you should be fine! You will still be cutting back on them overall.
FORTYTUDE-Good to see you so excited about this WOE!
DEBYJ-Congrats on the 2 lb loss!
BOB- That was a hilarious picture! Sometimes I feel like that...yesterday I drank 5 litres of water! (20 cups)
JRED- I agree. I do keep it simple, the homeschooling that is. We use colouring, blocks, songs and a lot of fun to learn. Kids just seem to want to soak it up. My kids don't watch any TV at all so they don't get things like Sesame Street, etc. Instead, they get their Mom showing an interest in them with books and things, which is why they enjoy it so much I think.
I am going to post this now before it crashes then I will look back!

This is an excerpt from a healthy weight loss newsletter that I get in email from Greg Landry, M.S.
"Healthy Weight Loss Newsletter"
Fitness Greetings!
Today, as we remember the events of last September 11, and our hearts go out to those most effected, I'd like to share with you a letter I received from a lady last September 12:
"Greg, yesterday has made me take a hard look at my life and my priorities. I've decided that two things I'm going to put on the top of my list are spending more time with family and friends, and getting healthier so that I can enjoy time with family and friends to the fullest."
"Today I'm going to get serious about losing the weight that has dragged me down and affected my health, vitality, and relationships for the last 24 years. Thanks for your program and your persistence."

I will check in later for WIW!

ATLANTA MOM-Welcome to the board! Love your new name!!
JACK-K- The walk was very nice. It was 1 mile long and is a beautiful setting for a good walk. So I can count my exercise as 3 miles yesterday!
SERENE-I don't know much about the Captain Underpants book because FRUIT was the one that originally posted that. However, I have seen his books advertised in those Scholastic catalogues that the kids bring home from school, so they must be recent.

Good morning everyone.
I'm sure all of us share a heavy heart this day. My heart goes out to all those you lost loved ones that horrible day and my deepest gratitude to those you died and all those who tried to save them. I just pray that everyone is safe today. This is a very somber day and I will be glad when it is over and America is safe.
Other depressing news, I stayed the same today. Didn't help my mood any. Think I need to evaluate some things.
Hope the scale is good to the rest of you.
Melf, Sorry you did not make it to chat. There were only a few of us and we didn't last long. I think we all want a little cushion with our goal wt. You have to go with what you want and how you feel. Start slow with exercising and build it up. It's not too hard. I actually enjoy it.
Bob, Hey my wildcats have a chance to go 4-0! Heck yes we have a football team!I would like to make your donkey my screensaver! Hope that was a diet 7-UP!!Is that a pic of YOU??? :yikes:
Toni, Hope you are feeling better today. I think I will try to no-carb next week too.
Tranquil, thanks for posting the recipe. It reminds me of those Enchillads that were posted long ago. Very rich. Nice going getting a treadmill. I'll use it until your foot is better ha ha :idea:
JRed, Glad you finally got your computer fixed. Man,you waited so long and then it was the powerpack. What a bummer. Congrats on the 2 lbs. Good going giving that cake away. Glad you had a ncie bday.
Quilter, Hope you are feeling better today. On the no carbs, I have read that Atkins is very hard on your liver after a while. Hope it works for you this week. I agree with you on the full stomach. It feels good not to get up from the table not miserable. Especially at holidays. Sorry you couldn't make it to chat last nite. We missed you. WTG on the 3 pounds. I'm sure you will be fine doing no carbs this week. Maybe next week do 1 a day.
Debyj, If those cookies are make with ww, then go for them. Have fun at the game.
Fortytude, Each of us want to drop that wt quickly. But as they always say, you didn't put it on overnite and you can't take it off overnite. Also a little at a time is healthier and will stay off longer. That is all well and good, but it doesn't make it any easier. Hang in there, it will come off before you know it.
Fillise, You are right. It is so hard. I said I would not watch all that stuff. Last nite, found myself glued to the tV. Cried all nite and all the way to work today. America is moving on, but my heart goes out to all those you lost loved ones that horrible day. I have said a lot of prayers today.
Gracious, WTG on the 1 lb. You did great on yur exercise. Keep up the good work.
Just want you all to know how much you all mean to me. I surely could not do this without any of you. Thanks for all your encouragement and love and friendship.
Love to all of you. :grouphug:

Good Wedneday Morning Everyone:wave:
Had a choice to make this morning-A. Do I go for my walk or B. do I climb back in bed with ELI upon his request and forgo my exercise. I gave it a pondering thought weighing my options:chin: It looked like rain, my knee had been bothering me since yesterdays exercise, snuggling up to a warm body seemed pretty darn good-so I weighed the options for about 2 minutes and out for the walk/jog I went:yes: It wasn't an easy 4.5 miles today, took me 54:10, longer than I had thought since I did a lot of jogging, but my knee was absolutely killing me and I was really slow, but heck, at least I got out there despite having some mighty strong other options I could of taken and not gone!
The fund raiser at the school last night was successful. Don't have anything to compare it to since this was the first time we'd done this. I was a little peeved when I got there because there were no tables to set things up on and they KNEW I was coming with stuff and that's the least they could of done. In the end, it all went well and I think the other board members were pleased. I think we raised $175 or about that, though I don't know the final tally. This wasn't so much as a fund raiser as it was more to get the parents to Academy Night and earn a little extra money for the foundation. The stuff ELI brought from SB was a hit, the pastries, the coffee and 18 door prizes. Our big fund raiser is not until Spring and really is the only fund raising we do which is the NASDAQ 100 TENNIS TOURNAMENT. For each parent that works the tournament, the foundation earns $9 an hour. We have the potential to raise $10,000.00 for the foundation or more and that's our real focus.
Anyhow, I'm going to have to catch up with the individual posts later, as well as all the other stuff as I have to go get in the shower and go get my sister from the mechanics. Have errands to do for my Mom while she's still away-which also, the week of Sept. 22 I have to work during the day at an office to relieve a girl who works for my Mother-not looking forward to this but she asked and I accepted. Anyhow, I'll of course remind you all about that later on as I'll be a bit more scarce that week.
Will check in later. Hope you all have good WIW RESULTS to share!!!

Hey there, everyone!
I forgot it’s WIW, so I’ll have to check my progress tomorrow. I am feeling much better this week – my energy is returning, and except for still being a little sore, I feel almost “normal” from my surgery.
I am trying to get up a little earlier each morning, with the intent of taking the puppy for a walk for a little bit. Of course, it helps that the darn doggie has been waking me up to go out… she’s better than an alarm clock! We are still having “accidents” in the house – it’s been so long since I’ve trained a pup that I can’t remember how long it usually takes before they are housebroken.
I have managed to get my kitchen nearly in order in the new house, and last night, rearranged furniture in the living room and our bedroom. I have to get the house in order for the wedding, as I have my Maid of Honor, Bridesmaid, and Reader all staying in the house! :eek:
Actually, except for the boxes here and there, and needing to get closets organized and such, we’re doing pretty well. Dan is off this week, so he’s been doing all the “manly” stuff, like putting together wall and floor cabinets for the bathroom, mowing the jungle that is supposed to be our yard, and things like that.
I am really starting to get excited about the wedding. We’re meeting with the Pastors today, along with the wedding coordinator, to get the ceremony order finalized and go over details. We also have to write the check to pay for the church and reception hall. I think we’re going Friday evening to get the marriage license. :twirly:
We’re meeting the organist tomorrow evening to go over music, and I have to get Rehearsal Dinner invitations sent out. Then it’s just ordering the cakes (one white and one chocolate from Costco), the cookies (from a local bakery), and picking up plates, napkins, etc.
My dress is supposed to be ready Sept. 27, and I hope to have the flowers finished by then. It’s all coming together!
One quick note to Debbie – you have SO much more strength than I do – if my hunny had been asking me to come back to bed and snuggle, there’s NO way I’d have gone out for a walk! :cool:
Hugs to all,
Jenn

Good morning everyone- Still feel kind of bad this morning but did walk on the treadmill.. And yea I lost 3 lbs. this week.. I sure needed that boost. Hope it holds up next week.. Made baked chicken last night with cajun seasoning on it.. It came out sooo good.. We've had a cool front come through here and theres a nice breeze blowing... On this day of rememberance let me thank you all for being so special to me...
Melf- What do you do with your okra. I've never had it anyway but fried...
Tranquil- Your chicken recipe sounds sooo good.. I'll have to try it soon.. Have to go get some groceries tomorrow so maybe I can get the stuff then.. Oh your so lucky to get a free treadmill. Its so nice to have when its to hot or cold to walk outside. For me its been a lifesaver.. I think watching the starches helped me out this week. Amazeing what they can do..
j red- Congradulations on the 2 lbs... Way to go and that feels so good after a big stall...
The Quilter- Oh your shake sounds so good.. Wish I had one right now... What kind of yogurt did you use? A soup yum... Think I need to eat at your house!!! LOL hope you weigh in good because you've left off the starchy carbs. Oh my gosh three lbs... Happy dance for you..

Hi all!!!
Quick Post I'm at work. Well today I stayed the same which I expected since TOM is HERE. I'll be glad when he leaves!!:lol:
Even though I know the maintain is because of TOM. I know i need to reevaluate how much I am eating and get things moving again. I brought a food scale I need to start checking portions and seeing what true servings really look like. This is a problem I've had in the past. Oh well enough of my moaning. I guess I'm a little disappointed with myself be cause I started out on a roll. Well the good thing is at least I'm 18 lbs lighter since I started this WOE in June. Maybe I will try a week of no carbs except fruit and veggies.
Tranquil- Thanks for the recipe for the creamy Chicken. I think I will make that tonight because I have chicken breast unthawing in the fridge. I could eat cheick something or other every night with no problem. My family thinks I'm nuts.:dizzy:
Atlanta Mom- Welcome. This a great place with great people.
Quilter- Hi I missed you and post whenever you have the time. I'm always glad to hear from you. :)
Jack-K-I'm with you I'm reevaluating some things.
Well so much for a quick post. Sorry to complain to you guys. Have a great day!!

JACK-K- I know I am being a stickler, but since I was on Atkins for numerous months I wanted to throw my 2 cents in. Not eating starchy carbs is by no means *no carbs*. If one eats SB style but leaves out the starchy carbs, they are still consuming way more carbs than someone who is in the Induction stage of Atkins. On Induction, one is only to consume 20 carbs per day. If you eat one apple, your carb allowance is gone! So the issue about the liver (there is so much debate about this that I won't get into) is a moot point because your body is still getting carbs in the fruit, veggies and other foods one can eat. I think SB is a much better and healthier option, but cutting out starchy carbs for a few weeks won't do any harm.
I have spent the morning listening to the 9-11 coverage on the radio. (we don't have tv ) It is very sobering and my heart goes out to all the people who were personally affected...in essence, that is all of us, but I mean those who lost loved ones.

Hi y'all. Man, I am sooo behind on reading and posting. First of all, sorry to the birthday girls that I missed. Jeanie, I know you were one of them. Hope you had a good day. This 9/11 program for school has had me swamped. The kids are performing at 1 this afternoon. It's also picture day, so it's kind of crazy here. WIW was not too bad. No loss but no gain either. And for the way I've been eating that's great. Let's just say I fell off the wagon and have been hanging on by my nails. Hope I can get back to the board after this program is over.

Well, it is Wednesday. I am up a pound, but I am not going to get too discouraged yet. We ate dinner late last night, so I will wait and see if maybe that had something to do with it. I made baked kibbe balls...yummy! So worth the work. I baked them, but at lunch today I fried the remainders in a bit of olive oil. Oh, boy were they good!
Gotta go and do watercolor with my daughter. We have homework for our class due Friday!
QUILTER: If you ate no starchy carbs during the week, and then some on the weekends, I do
not think you would have to detox all the time. It would be important to be very much
in control on the weekends tho. Just my humble opinion... why not give it a try and
see what happens? Good for you in staying off the soy...man, the more I read, the madder I
get about soy. Its in everything! It is really bad for animals, and lo and behold it is
in the fancy expensive cat food my neighbor gave me! (her cat didn't like it...mine doesn't
seem to either. Smart cat.)
MELF: Last night, I got ambitious and made kibbe balls. Wow! Definitely a keeper! Wish I
had tried that recipe a long time ago!
BOB: Ouch! That picture makes my back hurt! Isn't photoshop fun?
TONI: I did my treadmill today. It was not easy tho. About five minutes into it, my ankle
joint decided to quit on me. The pain was awful. I stopped the treadmill, and worked the joint
(cussing I hate to admit...) then went back to it. I was determined. It was not easy to finish
but I am glad I did. I am sorry about that sf candy... is there someone you know you could
give it to? I hate when I get something on ebay that is a dud. It has not happened often
but when it does, I get mad at myself. Don't worry about it...I just hope it was not expensive!
TRANQUIL: What a brave woman you are! Won't you be surprised when I show up for dinner! Better
double the recipe! ;)
JRED: It is going to be fun working with this young man. Thanks for your point made about
teaching young kids. You put it so well. Play, play and more play works so well with that
age group.
Hope every has a great day!

So far so good today. Two of the children are through with school and working on rooms. I promised to rearrange Jessie's room when the youngest finishes his school.
Richard and I did a disco sweat yesterday. :) I don't know why but I've always loved working out to his videos. I need some new ones though..I get bored easy. Probably gonna work out again instead of walking. I was gonna walk last night but sighted in my bow instead. Still getting use to the new bow and my new grip. We just ordered some new arrows...I won't get into cost but I'm glad they will last a LONG time...
WTG to all the losers this week! I think I'm gonna wait till tomorrow.
Toni...sorry you are still feeling poorly. You did great getting in your treadmill time while you aren't feeling good.
Monet...that pound will be gone in no time..it's one of those trick pounds..they come and go before you know it.
Music...hope you have a wonderful program today.
Jenn...I get excited just reading about your wedding. It's going to be lovely and so are you.
Well, Zachary is asking me about his math..guess I'd better get. See ya'll later.
Love and hugs,
Crystle

Quilter – your presence was missed on the chat last night – but we were hoping you would get on, but I even had some problems myself – some kind of glitch in the system…. But I am so glad that you are up and running back on the board and getting back into the swing of things… I decided to help support you all and I too have cut out the starchies… the puff has started draining since! So good idea getting us back on the losing streak!
JackK – Nice to see you on chat as always! The recipe kind of reminded me of chicken stroganoff…it had a bit of that richness to it…. It was just so easy to make. I believe it was SolShine’s recipe, so I cannot take the credit…. My mother is making it tonight as well. I will just open a spa B&B – for Sugar Busters – and cook and entertain guests, let them walk on the new treadmill, shuttle the guests to the beach for more exercise, even get a kayak and stick guests into the river 2 blocks from the house – gosh, I am going to have to consider this!
McJonJon – it was a pleasure seeing you on the chat last night, and hope you will be on other chat nights before you have to start working nights again!
Fortytude – You definitely have the right spirit to win the war! Keep up the good work!!!!
DebyJ – that is terrific about your loss! I so enjoy reporting my losses, makes me feel so strong and proud!
Fillise – Hugs, it is a sad day…. I am listening to Classic FM at my desk – internet radio broadcasted from the UK and they are playing music in tribute to US of A’s history, patriotism and heritage… It is funny how you forget certain composers – such as Gershwin! But it is a good tribute and I am enjoying it immensely…. They had the moments of silence as well… and stated that in the UK there are memorial services, candles lit, and prayers …. A friend from Germany wrote and he works for the government in Stuttgart and they are all on 24 hour call because of threats – and he said they too are showing respect with memorials and services….and a moment of silence.
Gracious – This morning they mentioned people questioning their faith in God, and they asked a Cardinal of the Catholic Church in NYC how he answers them – he said look at the people who were left behind, the rescues, the people donating their time, money, blood, etc., it really hit home….it was a nice thing to hear….
Serene - when you come over to my house I will give you the set of Captain Underpants to read and laugh over!!!
Deb – What a woman of strength! If I had a cuddly bear in my bed that loved me like Eli loves you,,,,,, but, that also might be because I DON’T have a cuddly body in my bed! Other than a cat!
:lol:
Country – AWWWW you have a Zachary too!!!! They are the top of the line models ;)
Monet – I am not brave! Just would love to have you over for dinner – so when you decide to get together with us Floridians – you are more than welcome to come over, stay over, have dinner, but just please bake me a sugar free ww cake !! :D
All time low was 240.5 – I am up 2.5 lbs – I am at 243….but I plan to kick that weight in the behind and be a real loser!
Hello to all that I did not respond to - I am at work - trying to keep up! Very busy, will be here until 7 pm and then going to the movies with Serene to see The Importance of Being Ernest...

My official weight for today is 211.5, so I'm down 5 lbs from last week. I'm sure a couple of the pounds was the rest of my water weight that had accumulated, however, I will take it! Laying off the starchy carbs sure seems to get the scale going down!
BOB, you crack me up with the pictures that you post. Where do you find so many? I can't wait to meet you in person, next weekend in Orlando. I just know we are going to have a blast!
j red - what a good week for you, getting the laptop fixed and having the scales drop! I got a good laugh at your comment about BOB's last picture posted.:lol: I know for sure she wasn't spying on me! Great news on the job offer for DH. How far is Amarillo from where you are now?
debyj- great on being down another 2 lbs! Those summer colds can be so miserable - glad you are better.
fortytude - I read your bio and see that you are a soap and candle maker, how interesting. Do you have your own store or make things at home? What part of Colorado do you live in? I have a brother that lives in Golden. I'm glad you have joined in with us on this WOE!
Quilter - I'm so happy for you that your weight is down. I hope you are feeling more encouraged. I don't think it would hurt to add in a starchy carb a day. I think I'm going to do that too, but will have that carb early in the day. Sorry I wasn't computer savy enough to help you get on the chat last night. I'm sure you were missed! I bought my digital scale from Walmart for $29.99 and it is made by Taylor. It is the kind with the lifelong battery, and I've had no problems with it. I think you can get them as cheap as 19.99, on up. Uh Oh, hope this isn't considered advertising!;)
gracious - congrats on the loss! Thanks for sharing your input about starchy carbs.
Jack-k, sorry you didn't have a loss today. You have done so well, so please don't be depressed! Join us with cutting back on the starchy carbs and see if that makes a difference.
Deb - I have to agree with Jenn on this one. I wouldn't have hesitated to jump my arse right back in that bed with Eli, if I were you. It sure would have been much easier on your knee than your walk/jog was. I'm glad you could finally make it to chat. Sorry I had to leave so quickly and couldn't hang around.
Jenn - so glad to hear you are feeling better and everything seems to be working out with your wedding plans and house. What an exciting time for you!
Toni - WTG on the 3 lb loss! I'm jealous that you are having a cool front. A cool front for us would be anything below 70 degrees. Hope you get to feeling a lot better, very soon!
mercy - you don't have to apologize for complaining. We all do that when we aren't happy with our progress. That's what friends are for, right?
music - glad you found a minute to say hello with everything being so busy for you. Don't let that wagon pass without jumping right back on!
monet - hope next WIW will be better for you. What are Kibbe balls anyway? I don't remember hearing about those.
country - I think you are smart to get different forms of exercise. It helps to not get bored with the same old routine. Got any pics of you shooting that Bow? I Would love to see one.
Tranquil - glad you are joining us in cutting the starches. That will make it easier for me since we have a lot of meals together! I can't believe you have the Captain Underpants books and never told me. YES, I would love to read them. You know how silly I am anyway.
Fillise - :wave: glad you have a day off from your very busy schedule. Too bad it is because of such a sad occasion though.
melf - you are sure on a roll with all the posting you've been able to do. I'm glad as I always enjoy reading yours, along with the rest!
Think I'm caught up for now - sorry If I missed anyone.
Take care,
Wendy

Today is indeed a somber day. As we all reflect on the memories & the loses that took place a year ago, my heart again goes out to those that are reliving today due to loss of loved ones. It is heartbreaking to see it rehased on TV & yet I know that some find the memorials comforting. I did attend a memorial service at our town hall this morning where many met to pray for the families & to pay tribute to those that died that day as well as to our local police, firefighters, & EMS personels. It ended with a 21 gun salute, the playing of taps, singing of the Star Spangled Banner, & finally, the release of doves, about 2 dozen of them. It was a very moving memorial.
So many have talked on the TV about how they have learned from 9-11 that they should always hug their family/spouse before leaving for work, etc. One such interview has just brought me to tears remembering the last good bye to my late husband 19 years ago. We had had an arguement the afternoon before he left for work & that night I got called in to work the 11-7 shift. He came by the next morning about 4am to say good-bye. I remember walking out with him to the car & all was forgiven from the spat we had. So many times that memory has come back to me! He went off to work, we talked on the phone about 2 weeks later to wish each other happy anniversary. It was our 18th. Little did I know that less than 24 hours later, he would die inside of a barge from poisonous gas fumes. I guess what I'm trying to say is that life is often hard & we never know what it will bring us, but we go on. Life continues. We live through the pain & we grow stronger in our faith. We learn to appreciate each day with our loved ones.
Sorry, didn't mean to go on & on. Not sure why, but I felt the need to share that with someone & you are all here. :lol: I'm thankful to have so many friends to be able to share things with.
Jack-K Sorry to hear that the scale was not nice to you today. It wasn't nice to me either & I have no one to blame but myself, although I'm not really sure why it was up. Might just be water gain.
Debbie, Glad to hear that the school event was a success, but too bad about you not feeling well this am. Why are your knees hurting so bad?? Injury or from pounding the pavement??? Hope you feel better soon.
Jenn in MN, Great to hear that you are recuperating well & getting to all those necessary plans for the wedding done. Oct 5th will be here in no time at all!
Toni48, Horrah for 3 more lbs down the drain! :D :dance: That cool front sounds great. The temps are not so bad here these last few days, but definitely warmer than I'd like it to be. Girl, you can do all kind of things with okra. Last night all I did was slice it & did a quick stir fry with some olive oil, okra, onions & a little bell pepper in an iron skillet. Takes about 10 min. I also do smothered okra which takes alot longer, but basically you put it in a pot with oil & slow cook it till it's brown. That takes a couple of hours, but that's how I usually prepare it to go in the freezer, then I can take out a pack & throw it in a pot of water for chicken & okra gumbo. Very good cajun meal. I also do a crock pot okra gumbo which is a lot easier. If you're interested in the recipe, let me know & I'll post it. It freezes really well & you put the brown rice in the slow cooker too, so you have a complete meal that can cook while you're at work.
Mercy Better to stay the same than to gain! Keep up the great work.
music teach/Tina, Sounds like you're having a really busy day. The kids from 3 of our local schools came to the City Hall Memorial we had this morning. I was glad to see that they were able to take part in it.
Monet, Please elaborate, what are kibbe balls? You have my mouth watering just from you talking about how good they were! :lol:
CountryMom4Him, Disco sweating with Richard? You go girl!
Tranquil, I know that the gain IS only temporary for you & that you will truely kick it so far as you can very soon. I'm hearing all the ragging about the chicken recipe. Is it on the board? Where do I find it? I'd like to give it a try. Sounds delic.
Serene,WTG on the 5 lb loss. The rest will come. I think you're doing great! Looks like cutting the carbs have really done the trick for you & Kim. I'll have to seriously think about doing that too. Thanks, I always enjoy your posts too. It really feels good to be able to post & read the board. I don't always get a chance to do that, but I've been off this week with not alot of other things going on, so this is what I have chosen to do with my time :D
Well, I'd better get some clothes in the wash so that I'll have clean uniforms for tomorrow. I went by the Nursing Home this morning after the memorial & had a good visit with my MOM. I really need to do that more too cause I see her going down so much. Trying to have a conversation with her is like pulling teeth. She struggles so much to find the words she wants to say & often just gives up. She cannot finish a sentence. I find myself guessing at what she's trying to say. But she laughs alot & that's a good thing.
Sorry, I have just gone on & on today! I guess I needed someone to talk to! Bye :wave: I'm really gone now. :D

Dear Melf/Mary, I'm glad you shared the story about your late husband. It really touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. You are a true inspiration, not only with this WOE, but also with your faith and life. Thank you for saying something I needed to hear today. {{{{HUGZ}}}}

Hi Gang,
Late to leave here. just wanted to catch up.
Deb, are you crazy???? Exercise or a nice warm man +. You can walk anytime of the day.
Jenn, Everything sounds like it is coming together. How exciting. I bet you are dancing in the streets. How nice that the little puppy can assist yo in getting some exercise.
Toni, WTG on the 3 lbs. Yo were supposed to weight for me!. You go girl. You've almost hit the 50# number.
Mercy, I'm in the same boat with you girl. Let's rock it a bit and see a big drop next week, OK? My DD eats chicken every night. I don't see how she does it. She will not eat red meat. It makes it tough to cook for her.
Gracious, You are right on the carbs. I don't think a few weeks will do any harm either. I just don't believe Atkins is a good WOE for the long haul.
Music, Jump on back in that wagon. We'll help you stay in. At least you are remaining the same.
Monet, Good for you getting back on that TM and finishing. I know it's not easy sometimes. Bummer about the pound. We ate a heavy dinner last nite too. Hopefully the scale will go for both of us.
Country, I think Richard's videos are fun too.
Tranquil, Sign me up for a week at the spa. Sounds great. I'm sure the 2.5 lbs will be gone quickly.
Serene, Congrats on the 5 lbs. Think I'll give that no carb thing a try next week.
Melf, You poor thing. My heart breaks for you. How tragic about your DH. I'm really glad you patched up yur spat though. We need to live each day fully and not let those little fights get in our way. Bless you.
Got to go home I figure out what's for dinner. I hate it when I'm not prepared.
Have a great nite.

Hi Gals (and Daramus, where are you???)
I just wanted to say that tonight I've got to prepare for a presentation at work tomorrow. I have to scan some stuff and put it all together. So I won't have time for a long post. I did read and was happy to see that a good many of you were losers today. For the rest, well . . . there's always next week. Just keep focused.
I'll respond tomorrow night! Take care.

WIW and I'm down about 3 pounds from where I've been sitting forever- just hope it's not muscle, I've worked too hard for that. Will get the tape measure and calipers out this weekend if it holds. The scale is not an accurate picture if you are trying to build muscle and loose fat.
Today has been so sad- everywhere reminders. Melf, the story of your last days with your dh had me in tears.
Deb- I'm with the rest of the board! what were you thinking? Get back in bed! (says she who crawls out of bed every morning extra early for the comforts of the ^&%* treadmill or bike).
Quilter- The lack of starchy carbs won't hurt you as long as you are eating buckets of fruit and vegies. That's how I finally got the scale to move. I eat about 100-120 g. of carbs a day, but that only includes about 2 tablespoons of brown rice. The rest are mountains of vegies and fruit. Right now I'm zigzagging calories and carbs with 3 low days, then 3 higher days. I think eating the same levels every day was what made me stall for so long.
Bob- wherever did you get that picture and how do you think it was made??? Drinking water sure isn't doing that for me, in fact I think thats where those 3 pounds disappeared from:?:
Jenn- Glad to hear everything is coming together nicely. I've always regretted not having a "real" wedding! Tho at the time I didn't want one. Oh well, next time around...lol.
OK all you teachers or parents already thru middle school- anybody teach middle school out there? I'm at my wits end with ds. He hates everything! in particular 1 teacher who he has for 2 subjects back to back. The guy is real young, real loud, thinks he's funny (but isn't) and SOOO ernest about teaching and helping kids. But he's still acting like the kid who no one wanted to sit with at lunch. (This is the teacher I'm talking about- keep in mind I only met him for 20 minutes at open house last nite) DS comes home and screams and cries everyday- he's NEVER done that before. I don't have a clue what to do, my daughter breezed thru everything and I just never had to deal with school problems before. Any suggestions? I just keep telling him it's only another hoop he has to jump thru, then it will be behind him. He's not buying that.
Onward,

JACKIE...that's me on a good AQUA DAY Once the water has soaked in, it distributes to the other places...you know...stomach...hips...legs... :eek:
I would be honored to have my *** on your screensaver...be my guest!
JENN...it's really getting closer isn't it!!! We're getting excited just listening to your descriptions...I can't even imagine how you are~!
This is a very somber day. We had a ceremony on the first floor of my work building this morning..wasn't long, just about 20 minutes, but very touching and very real! It just makes you stop,
regroup and thank THE ALMIGHTY for every breath you're still able to take. :angel: :grouphug:
Not really in a chatty mood tonight girls..hope you'll understand.
Hug your family every day...

Just a quick reply to the question about kibbe balls. Kibbe is a ground meat and bulghur mix, seasoned with onions and allspice. With the balls, you fill golf ball sized pieces of the kibbe with a seasoned meat that has onions and pine nuts in it. Traditionally, it is made with lamb, but I used beef...not bad either! If anyone wants the recipe, let me know...tho I am willing to bet our fearless leader and her hubby have a better one!
Oh boy! I get DSL tomorrow! Can't wait!

MONET, you will think you went straight to heaven when your DSL arrives. It's amazing how much different it is using the web with a high speed line. My prediction: you will be hooked and your favorites list will grow by leaps and bounds because you will be able to get to places you never could before. I used to sit with a book in my lap when I surfed when we had dial up. Not to worry anymore.

Wow, I am on the post board and I see this thing in red about not advertising. Something new. Guess somebody on one of the other boards has been touting her product. Only thing I can sell is to do a lawyer ad for my DH. LOL. He's one of the honest ones.
I've been so busy this week that haven't really peeked at the board except for page 6, which is now the last page. BOB, are you coming to Orlando this weekend or next weekend? Let me know. Who all else is coming? You have probably discussed this on page 4 or somewhere, but I'll never find it. Don't have time to go back and read. I'm way behind on my French and will hit the books in just a minute.
Just wanted to check in and say "hi."

This day has been so awsome and sobering. The loss of thousands a year ago and thinking about the many great men and women who are fighting to protect us against future terroist attacks and even more those who have fought to protect us in the past of which include my mom, dad, and uncle. God Bless them all!
As for WIW I'm up .5 lbs, but TOM is visiting too, so hopefully it will drop off and then some next week. My hubby has be craving sugary junk all day, we made it until tonight...we ate 1/2 container of sugarfree vanilla ice cream, topped with almonds, and .... chocolate syrup! YIKES....

A quick WIW early Thursday morning. It's waayyy past my bedtime. The scales are still sitting at 158, and after sooo many months in the 160s that number looks so good. It's taken me 5 months to lose 10 pounds.
Today was a somber day, but I didn't get to watch any TV until tonight. But I started having a having a knot in my stomach with a nauseous feeling yesterday and I think it's my reaction to this day. You all know my son is at the Naval Academy and his life changed last year like we never expected. He's still very committed to serving his country, but the Mids don't really want to talk about war. All the talk about invading Iraq is very scary to us.
Hope y'all have a great day tomorrow!
BOB: I made a big casserole of your squash. I'll add some chopped chicken breast to it tomorrow for my lunch. I love it!

Well, it is the day after and I am figuring I better get moving again. I just couldn't bring myself to exercise yesterday. I was listening to the 9-11 coverage all morning while folding my laundry and intermittently grabbing my little boy for a hug while I cried and prayed. I found it an emotionally and physically straining day, as I am sure most of us did.
LDBLOND-Must have been something in the air yesterday because I hit the sugarfree ice cream TWICE! :eek: Mine was chocolate and I didn't add anything to it, but it hit the spot. Finished that one off so it won't be calling me from the freezer anymore! It didn't effect the scale this morning and I am glad of that.
MONET-How is your back doing? I saw a lady yesterday who looked just like you..at least just like your pic that you had posted. I glanced at her license plate to make sure it was a New Brunswick one. If it was American, I would have chased after her to say hello!
JRED- How wonderful for you to see that number. I can relate to the long wait. I wonder why I read about so many other people dropping even their last 20 lbs so quickly and mine seem to want to stay! Your post said *hang in there* to me so thanks!
BOB-Amen to that..being grateful to The Almighty for our loved ones and all the blessings He does give us!
MELIRIS-I recall looking at body fat %'s months ago so I might be a little off since it has been so long...but isn't 15% body fat low? I thought an athlete has a BF % of around 17%...please correct me if I am wrong.
JACK-K- I agree with you too, Atkins Induction is not a way to live forever. Mind you, once you finally get on maintainance with it, it is not so bad, rather close to SB actually. I personally find that when I cut my carbs back excessively for too long (ie:3 months) then I stop losing and I have to add more good carbs back. They say you go into starvation mode and your body hangs on to everything it has. That is why I have added some carbs back into my menu again. The 2 weeks was just to get me moving and now I have settled back into the SB WOE eating WW pitas and some fruit.
MELF-Thanks for sharing. I love that we can share our hearts with each other on this board. {hugs}
I am going to attempt to exercise today and get things organized. Hope everyone has a great day today.

Good Morning Everyone:wave:
Once again, this is going to be quick. It's been a busy week between me doing some things and the kids both needing the computer in the evening, lessening my computer time.
Today ELI is off, so of course, we will be leaving as soon as I get in the shower. Didn't walk this morning, very dark and gloomy out and thought my knee deserved a break, even though I really should go out since my eating wasn't up to par. Anyhow, I'm going to try to at least catch up with replies off line somehow this evening-maybe during BB.
Hope you are all doing well, I'll be sure to check in sometime later this evening.

Hey everyone! My sweet Miss Belle is curled in my arms, so i'm typing one-handed. ( funny how she always wants to snuggle when i'm talking to you!). Ok she's decided to get up now--I can type!
I worked hard all day yesterday because I couldn't bear to sit home and watch the TV. I did watch part of the Requim on PBS last night. I think the "Rolling Requim" was the most touching tribute and memorial.
Um--Deb what is it with you folks and voting machines in Miami-Dade and Broward???????? I also echo the sentiment about snuggling--no way would I have gone out!
Melf--your story is exactly why I try to tell my family "I love you" everytime I talk to them. You never know when it may be the last time you see them. I'm glad you are comforted by your last memories.
Time to get to work--55 days till election day!

Good Thursday Morning!
Today is a much better day. Grateful the day passed with no trouble. I had a rough time getting through yesterday. I can't imagine how those who lost someone did it.:(
Woke up with much more energy today and in a good mood. Got my walk in. Boy it was cold. 63 degrees. I had to run more just to warm up. It's only going to be 80 today. Then home to workout. That is done for the day. :)
Took a sneak at the scale this morning, and happy to report it was much nicer than yesterday. Hoping it holds until next WIW.
Had a wonderful breakfast ( hardboiled egg sandwich), have buffalo wings and celery for lunch and chili planned for supper. I'm all set.
Mel, Whatever you're doing it seems to be working. WTG on the 3 lbs. It's probably not muscle since you have been stalled for awhile. I noticed your new goal. Good luck.
Monet, you will love your DSL. I have one at home (don't use the computer enough to justify it, but oh well) and it is great. We are hoping to get one here in the office. We have an ISDN but it is slower than a snail.
Gator, Hope you have a great day.
Bob, Hope you are feeling much better and funny again.
JRed, My heart goes out to you and anyone with children in the military. I always am thankful I have girls and they are not interested in that kind of thing. Someone has do it and we appreciate and pray for those who do. Keeping you son in my prayers. Congrats on getting into those new digits. That is the bet feeling.
Gracious, Deb always preaches about not eating enough and going into starvation mode, that's what I use when I don't lose. LOL
Deb, have a fun day with Eli (you owe him) and hope your knee is better.
Fillise, I echo your sentiments exactly. I kept very busy last night so I wouldn't have to watch TV. Too emotional. I had enough trouble getting through the day, I can't imagine how someone who lost a loved one did it.
I have set a mini goal to be at 159 before 11-10-02 (day we leave on our cruise). Hope I can do it.
Have a great day everyone.

Hi all,
I'm posting my wiw results today. This morning I was 155, I'm not sure if that is a freak thing or what. Last week I was 157, so we'll see if this stays off.
I'm not sure how many of you have the whole family eating this way, but I do not. I have been doing this with temptations all around me. I made a lasagne on tues , I made 3/4 with noodles and 1/4 with sliced eggplant. It worked out great!!!
Catch up with you guys later!!

NO I did not fall off the face of the earth :)
This stupid computer has been driving me crazy and locking up every time I try to read anything, so I've been doing housework... who knew ;)
Boy yesterday was a rough day... I watched a lot of coverage of the ceremonies, and then we went to my son's teacher's church because he got to sing in a program there... it was so sweet! I got pictures, can't wait to get the developed.
I've been doing so/so on eating... ran out of my bread and ate a sammich on regular bread <gag> it was horrible. I didn't even finish it... How did I used to eat that stuff??? Haven't been doing well with water as usual... what else is new. Still stuck at the same ol' same ol.... but not going up... BUT I'D RATHER GO DOWN!!! I gotta get back on track and NOTHING is working to get me motivated! <sigh> I gotta figure out what is going on here!!
This weekend we got a new addition to the family... my son won a bunny at a carnival... it's a dwarf bunny. It goes to the vet tomorrow to find out age/sex and stuff like that and make sure it's a generally healthy bunny :) We're calling it Snuggle!
Well I gotta run and get some dogfood, and some hay for the bunny.... I'll try and check in later :)
Bye Y'all :wave:

Man is my stomach talking to me this morning. Not sure if it's Richard or the bow..but I have muscles that I didn't know I had..lol But its that good kind of hurt if that makes sense.
Eating is going pretty good. Weight is right around 154 still.....
Melf Thanks for sharing your story. I shared with my husband last night. Not only yesterday but the last week or so it's been a time of refocusing and setting priorities. You story really confirmed the changes we have been making as a family.
Mel Congrats on the 3 pounds. You are doing so good. I can't imagine being as dedicated as you have been to losing the body fat and pounds. You should be very proud of yourself.
ChrisB Woo hoo! You are doing good. You and I are bout the same weight. What is your goal weight? How tall are you? Am I nosey or what...:) Have you ever tried the whole wheat pasta in your lazagna? It's one of the few WW things that my family actually enjoys. I even like it...lol
Jack-K Hey! Pass some of that cool weather this way. It's suppose to be around 94 today. It's nice to know I'm not the only one that likes Richard. :)
J Red Yeah!!! You are doing great...no more 160's!
Serene I don't have any pics with the bow yet..but when I do I sure will share one. I know it had to be hard being at the school with your ex the other day and things seeming so normal. Are you getting use to having your own space yet? You are in my prayers.
Tranquil was it you or Serene that came up with the idea for the SB spa...I think it's actually a really cool idea.
Well all the kids are on a tear..and it's past breakfast time. Better feed em before they mutiny on me. :)
Love and hugs,

Good Thursday Morning!
DSL is now installed. Wow! I could not believe how fast it downloaded my mail! We have fiber optic cable in our neighborhood, and it runs 2.3 mb per second! Sometimes, I love progress!
GRACIOUS: Wish I had been in Canada yesterday. It wasn't me. Make sure the plates are from Georgia if you are tempted to run after someone again, but I would probably warn you if I was heading that way! Maybe next summer... Buggie (from LCC) has been telling me I need to visit the northeast. :)
QUILTER: You are so right about the DSL... I could not believe it! I downloaded my 15 emails in the blink of an eye! This is going to be sooo much fun!
JACK: You have DSL at home and don't use it? I guess I have an addictive personality... I could spend all day on the computer, and I think it is going to be even worse now! LOL

Here is a little poem I read on sweet talk board. Thought we could apply it to us.
M Y S E L F
I have to live with myself, and so
I want to be fit for myself to know,
I want to be able, as days go by,
Always to look myself straight in the eye;
I don't want to stand, with the setting sun,
and hate myself for things I have done.
I don't want to keep on a closet shelf
A lot of secrets about myself,
And fool myself, as I come and go,
Into thinking that nobody else will know
The kind of person I really am!
I want to go out with my head erect,
I want to deserve all men's respect;
But here in the struggle for fame and self
I want to be able to like myself.
I don't want to look at myself and know
That I'm bluster and bluff and empty show.
I can never hide myself from me;
I see what others may never see;
I never can fool myself, and so,
Whatever happens, I want to be
Self-respecting and conscience free

Remember me? I'm Linda from Alabama (AKA LKF)! Sorry I have taken so long to jump in again. But I read all the posts I can so I am keeping up with y'all.
I'm still happily hanging in there...loving SB more all along. Gosh, if I had known that I could feel this good while following any eating plan, I would have gone straight to this WOE before all the years I spent on other plans! I started August 1 and have lost about 15 pounds. The weight loss is great but feeling so good while doing it (AND NO HUNGER PANGS LIKE I'VE HAD ON PAST EATING PROGRAMS!) is as wonderful as the weight loss!!! I'm excited...can you tell?
Several of you talk about no one else in the house who is willing to eat SB with you. It's just my hubby and I and though he is nice and trim (oh, I guess he could lose a few), he wants to stay with it for health reasons. Well, he's such a crack-up! Last night before church, we decided to go out for dinner insteading of eating at the church dinner, not knowing what they would serve. We went to Landry's for a seafood salad. He had the shrimp salad and I had the Cobb salad, modified to replace the chicken with crawfish in the salad. We both ate pretty legally! The only thing I worried about was the bacon in the salad, wondering if it had been prepared with sugar. Quantity was also a problem (are any of you finding out that when you eat out, the quantities are so enormous and with us eating right, you don't want as much???!!!). Anyway, after dinner, Larry (hubby) pulls out this coupon for free desserts for TWO!!! Yeek! But I was fine! He fell off the wagon completely and made himself sick eating their huge brownie with ice cream. Then he ordered MY dessert to take home to put in his lunch today. Bless his heart, he is trying. But not having ever had to worry about what goes into his mouth, he finds it a little hard to resist free desserts!
Thanks to all of you for the great support. I love to pop in, even if I don't have time to write, and see how everyone is doing. It encourages me because all of you are going through stuff I go through every day -- that's really, really helpful! I feel like I know each of you personally and look forward to spending time together in the future.

MONET- Even though I live in Canada, there were services and memorials all over the place. One of the churches in Fredericton placed 3000 crosses on their property with Canadian and American flags on the end of each row. It was a vivid illustration of the loss of life. Although only 24 of the people killed were Canadian, we are very much affected since we are neighbours and so closely entwined with business and culture. You are, afterall, our big brother.
But....having said that, I will keep my eyes open for that Georgia license plate! I haven't even been to Maine yet and it is only an hour or two from us. I know that is where Buggie lives so you never know. We actually moved here 2 years ago on September 11th...so odd.
LKF-Just wanted to say you have done awesome! Way to go on 15 *easy* pounds. Isn't it amazing how much easier it is to lose on this WOE than with all the struggles so many of us know about with low fat, low calorie, etc? Your hubby sounds like mine..next to the Lord, food is his passion...and lots of it!! :T
LKF
09-12-2002, 03:19 PM
Gracious, Larry is the same way! Exactly (down to his love for the Lord!). The irony is that he has never had a weight problem though he eats like a horse! I have never been able to get away with that from as small a child as I can remember being!
Thanks for the encouragement, Gracious. It helps me immensely.

Good afternoon,
I'm still eating well but have decided to add in one starchy carb, early in the day. Was craving bacon and eggs for breakfast - so had egg beaters and turkey bacon, which was satisfying without having too much fat.
meliris, congrats on being down 3 lbs! I like your idea of zigzagging calories and carbs with 3 lower days, then 3 higher days. How do you eat on the 1 day left over? I cut out my starchy carbs for the first of the week, along with Quilter, and it got the scale moving down for me. About your DS in middle school - my DD is in her 2nd year of middle school. She was always complaining about her teachers last year, until I went for a conference with each one of them. Found out the teachers weren't as terrible as she made them out. I would suggest having a conference with the young teacher in question. Talking to him at open house may not give an accurate picture of how he really is - maybe he was nervous with open house and so many parents to meet. I really admire teachers that are brave enough to work with that age group. Some of the kids that age can be so difficult to deal with, in my opinion. Just my 2 cents worth.
Monet - thanks for the recipe for the kibbe balls - sounds delicious. I would probably make them with beef also - never been a fan of lamb really. Don't you just love the DSL already? I've had cable modem for a few years and am so spoiled by it.
ldbond and gracious - add me to the list for consuming the sugare free ice cream yesterday. I think it was more of a comfort food for me, with being so emotional all day.
I am happy to report that Tranquil and I decided to see a movie last night and only had a diet coke from the snack bar! It was a big deal to go and be able to pass up the popcorn. We saw "The Importance of Being Earnest", with Colin Firth and Rupert Everett. It is a wonderful comedy/romance set in English high society in the 1890's, based on the original play by Oscar Wilde. It was a very delightful film and a good way to end a sad day on a lighthearted note.
j red - it must feel great to be in the 150s. I can't wait to get there myself - some time next year!
Deb, good for you for spending the day with Eli. Sounds like he is getting some much deserved attention! :)
Jack-K - glad the scale is being a little kinder today. Can't believe that you think 63 degrees is cold. I sure wish we could get some of that "cold" weather in Florida.:lol: Love the poem from the sweet talk board.
country - I will looking for those PICS of you and your bow, in the near future. Thanks for your continued prayers. Actually, I love having my own space at home now. Things are much more peaceful around here, with the exception of the DS. Only two more months until he is 18 and then will be gone also, if he doesn't get arrested before then. :( It must have been Tranquil's idea about the SB spa. She comes up with a lot of good ideas.
LKF - WOW! 15 sounds since Aug 1. That is fabulous! Good for you on resisting that tempting dessert! I am thankful that I don't normally crave sweets with this WOE. I use to want them all the time.
Well, have to run for now!

Toni48, HI! You are so sweet to congratulate me on my weight loss! What an encouragement it is to know you have lost all that weight with SB! 47 pounds is fabulous, and it gives me great hope that I will be there some day.

Thanks again for the encouragement...from you ALL!

LKF - thanks for your encouragement also. That is what helps keep us going with this WOE, along with the support and friendship we find on this board. I started SB the first of April, although not seriously as first. I just did it because my good friend, Tranquil did. Anyway, it didn't take long to realize how much sense it made and to be serious about losing weight. My loss has been slow but I feel confident that it will stay off, once I get to goal.
I'm glad you joined us in this WOE!
Take Care,

Wendy, thanks for making me feel so welcome here. I feel like I have made so many new friends! And just like you said, you may feel like weight loss has been slow but when you consider that it is a new WOE for life, the weight can come off as slowly as it pleases but we'll continue this great plan because it works and we can live with it! Actually, your weight loss seems incredible to me! So keep on in there and enjoy this process.

Me Again.
Just wanted to catch up before I leave.
Chrisb, Congrats on your 2 lbs. Work hard and it will stay off. I guess you could say my whole family eats this way. It's the only way I cook. My DH follows it pretty close, DD does not. Other DD is away at college and is trying to do SB. If they want somethng else, they can fix it. I try to eat foods pretty close to the way we normally eat. Eggplant is not something I have ever tried. Like too though. Good luck fighting all those temptations.
Beth, it was good to hear from you. We have been missing you. Glad you are staying the same, but come on we want to go down, down. I wish I knew something that would motivate you, but I think that is something you have to find in yourself. My 2 nieces just got bunnies at the Ky Fair and my DD called last night to say her roommate brought a bunny in the apt. I love the name snuggle.
Mercy, thanks for the rating on the chicken. I am going to try it next week.
Country, I like the feeling of muscles hurting too. My trainer tells me that they are working and not used to what you were doing. Keep up the good work.
Monet, By the time I get home, fix dinner, clean-up, fix lunches, walk, etc. I hardly have time to get on the computer at home. I do try to make chat on Tuesdays though. I really appreciate it when I do have time.
LKF, Glad to hear from you again. Glad to hear you are still doing good with SB. Congrats with your loss. I could have written your whole post. It is a duplicate of mine (except I have 2 grown kids). My DH is thing (except for his beer gut). He enjoys eating this way, but goes off some times. Last night he had French fries and a big hoagie bun (white). But generally does SB with me. I think this is the best WOE too. I don't even think about it anymore. I have never stuck with a diet for 11 months before in my life. Good luck to you. Oh, did you get any rolls thrown at you? That is the place that throws the rolls isn't it?
Gracious, I bet those crosses and flags were beautiful.
Toni, I buy hot dogs that just have less than 3 grams of sugar. It is beautiful here today too.
Serene, Congrats on passing the popcorn at the movies. I see the Banger Sisters is coming out this week. With Goldie Hawn. I just love her. I want to see it.
Have a great night everyone

They've never had to worry so they gotta go off every now and then! I am so proud of you for being on this plan for 11 months! Wow! And would you look at how much you have dropped in those 11 months!!! Now that's encouragement to me!!! You'll be at goal in no time.
No, didn't get the rolls thrown at me...I think that is down close to the Gulf Shores area near Mobile, Alabama...but I've heard of it, too. Landry's is just seafood...brought to the table! Ha!

JACK-K-Yes, those crosses and flags were beautiful and sobering all at the same time.
TONI-I buy the 100% all beef weiners, 6 in a pack. They are the bigger ones and have 0 carbs....of course there is the fat content, but that is not as big of a concern to me. Just as long as there are no fillers and sugars.
SERENE- I agree, I think the SF icecream was a kind of comfort food on a hard day.
Man oh man, now you have me thinking about ice cream again! :stress:

Going to bed, just have a second to say good night to everyone.
I don't know when I'll be able to play catch-up with all the posts, hopefully sometime during the weekend, tomorrow I have a full day and have to leave the house fairly early to run a couple important errands for my parents that absolutely need to get done and then have some things of my own to tend to. I don't know where this week up and went to, and I wonder where I was as it was passing through my life!:fr:
Forgive me a million times over for not getting caught up as I thought I would. I do have a post I started, but by the time I have a chance to get it done it will all be old and outdated, so if I have to start anew, I hope you all understand.
Have to get in bed, ELI is getting up at 3:30am and I usually don't sleep after his alarm gets off, sorta fall in and out of conscienceness.
Will do my darndest to get in a post tomorrow night!!!

I am hoping and praying all the Florida girls on the board and their families are safe. {hugs}
Not a nice way to begin a day. On top of that, but paling in comparison, all of our brand new windows have condensation on the inside of them this morning. It was a cold night but I am wondering what that is all about. I would hate to think we had them installed wrong or something. :yikes:

I have had fun playing with the DSL. Funny, but I can't think of a lot of places I want to go surf the web at. I would rather read a book!
We had a potluck dinner for the Cross Country team to attend last night. I made a ww crust chicken pot pie. I did not eat anything but a spoonful of the pie and a bit of salad. I had a few grapes when we got home too. I woke up at about 4 starving...but put off eating anything until 7. I hope this translates into some improvement on the scale!
Here is something for Friday Funnies:
The following breeds are now being considered for recognition
by the AKC:
1. Collie + Lhasa Apso - Collapso, a dog that folds up for easy transport
2. Spitz + Chow Chow - Spitz-Chow, a dog that throws up a lot
3. Pointer + Setter - Poinsetter, a traditional Christmas pet
4. Great Pyrenees + Dachshund - Pyradachs, a puzzling breed
5. Pekingese + Lhasa Apso - Peekasso, an abstract dog
6. Irish Water Spaniel + English Springer Spaniel - Irish
Springer, a dog fresh and clean as a whistle
7. Labrador Retriever + Curly Coated Retriever - Lab Coat Retriever, the
choice of research scientists
8. Newfoundland + Basset Hound - Newfound Asset Hound, a dog for financial
advisors
9. Terrier + Bulldog - Terribull, a dog that makes awful mistakes
10. Bloodhound + Labrador - Blabador, a dog that barks incessantly
11. Malamute + Pointer - Moot Point, owned by...oh well, it doesn't matter
anyway
12. Collie + Malamute - Commute, a dog that travels to work
13. Deerhound + Terrier - Derriere, a dog that's true to the end
14. Bull Terrier + Shih Tzu - Bull Shih Tzu, a gregarious but unreliable
breed
I'll be back later! Have a great day everyone!

Happy Friday the 13th,
Good morning everyone. Hope all is well with everyone today. It is cool here again, 59 this morning, but didn't feel as cold as yesterday. I think the winds were down today. Got my walk and workout done. Now to do the ones at lunch with the girls.
Saw the story on TV about the terrorists in Florida. I was wondering since it was Friday the 13th if something would happen today.
Gator, It all that close to you??? Be safe
LKF, Just a little advice, I started with at least 110 lbs to lose. I waited until I had about 50 off before I started working out trying to tone this stuff. I had always walked, but I added some weights and floor eaxercises for lower body and I can really tell the difference. I am smaller at 172 now then when I was 172 years ago. I really believe the wt training helped alot. I have slowed down considerably on my losing, but I will get there eventually.
Bob, aren't Nathans, the ones they have in NY? If so, I didn't like them. Call me silly, but give me the ole floor scrapings hot dogs.
Deb, That's ok about posting. We understand that you are busy. Nice just to say Hi!
Gracious, say that same story on TV this morning. I believe it was in Orlando. At least they caught them.
Monet, I too have trouble finding places to surf when I find I have extra time. Guess I just don't know enough about the whole internet thing.
I was so happy with the scale yesterday, that I peaked again today. Not happy today, right back where it was the day before. I think I need to hide it awhile.
Have a good day, I'll be back later. That's a promise.

Starting on a light note: Here's my Friday funny:
Make Me Feel Like A Woman
On a recent transatlantic flight, a plane passes through a severe
storm. The turbulence is awful, and things go from bad to worse when
one wing is struck by lightning.
One woman in particular loses it. Screaming, she stands up in the
front of the plane. "I'm too young to die," she wails. Then she yells,
"Well, if I'm going to die, I want my last minutes on earth to be
memorable! Is there ANYONE on this plane who can make me feel like a
WOMAN?"
For a moment there is silence. Everyone has forgotten their own
peril.
They all stared, riveted, at the desperate woman in the front of the
> plane. Then a man stands up in the rear of the plane.
He is gorgeous, tall, built, with reddish-blond hair and hazel eyes,
he starts to walk slowly up the aisle, unbuttoning his shirt
......one button at a time.
......No one moves.
.......He removes his shirt.
.......Muscles ripple across his chest
......he whispers:
....."Iron this."
Hope none of the Florida Gals were attempting to cross the state thru alligator alley this morning!!! Debbie- you're not visiting BOB or visa versa today? How scary! will have to call my brother in Ft. Lauderdale and see what's up! It's his b'day so I need to call anyway!
Toni- before I gave them up, I ate Hebrew National Hot dogs, and their big spicy ones. YUM. Ony kind my family will eat too! Not full of filler or junk. The rabbis say so!
Gracious- Sure hope your windows are OK! Soon that will be frost, not condensation. YIKES! About the body fat question- yes most athletes, depending on their sport keep their body fat between 10-17% . I've been doing a body building type workout and diet since about last January and have built some really good muscle, and want to see it. I have several friends that compete and they (women) get to about 7-8% for shows (not healthy or maintainable). I would like to just see the muscle definition and see if I can maintain there. I am by no means skinny but I don't look like a steriod pumped body builder either- and I'm eating TONS of food, lots of protein and good carbs. If I can't get there or maintain at that level , so be it. Just want to try.
Deb- Hope your life gets a little less crazy soon. You are gonna run yourself ragged!
Monet- enjoy your new surfing freedom! When we finally got off modems I disappeared into cyberspace for a week. Loved the dogs!
gotta go to work,

Hi SB Members,
I just joined this board and hope to get some really good information. I just started SB 11 days ago and am struggling. I've bought the SB book, so I'm pretty sure I'm following all the rules.
I've only lost 1.5 pounds. I've completely eliminated "illegal" foods (white bread, white pasta/rice) and replaced them with wheat products.
I've also been working out (which I didn't before) and am taking step classes 3 times per week.
I also had the bad habit of drinking a couple beers after work, which I now have eliminated and relaced with an occasional glass of red wine with dinner.
To top it off, I have replaced my usual 1 1/2 pots of coffee per day with 2 cups in the morning and no caffinated drinks the rest of the day.
Does it usually take this long to start dropping weight or am I just the most impatient person in the world?
Suggestions?

P.S....what are the numbers below your names? e.g. 175/150/127??? Weight?

Good morning!
Looks like the suspected terrorists have been apprehended, thanks to an alert citizen that got their descriptions and license numbers at a Shoney's in Georgia, yesterday. Sounds like they possibly had plans in the Miami area for today. Thank goodness for our hardworking law enforcement officers that were on the look out for them.
gracious - you are so sweet to be concerned about us Florida girls! Wish I knew what to tell you about the condensation on your windows. Maybe you could call the place you bought them from and get some info??
Monet and Jack-K- there is a good search engine at www.lukol.com. You can put in a keyword for anything you might be interested in, and it will give you a list of many websites to check out, just in case you are interested.
I am off to visit relatives today that live about 1 1/2 hours away. DD is off from school for a planning day so will be going with me. My favorite Aunt just moved from Texas to Ocala area, so I'm sure looking forward to our visit. I will check back in later tonight when I get back.
Have a great day everyone!

A man walks into a pharmacy and wanders up and down the aisles. The salesgirl notices him and asks him if she can help him. He answers that he's looking for a box of tampons for his wife. She directs him down the correct aisle. A few minutes later, he deposits a huge bag of cotton balls and a ball of string on the counter. She says, confused, "Sir, I thought you were looking for some tampons for your wife? He answers, "Yesterday I sent my wife to the store to get me a carton of cigarettes, and she came back with a tin of tobacco and some rolling papers, because it's sooooooooooo much cheaper ... so I figure if I have to roll my own, so does she!"

Two elderly women were eating breakfast in a restaurant one morning. Ethel noticed something funny about Mabel’s ear and she said, “Mabel, did you know you’ve got a suppository in your left ear? Mabel answered, “I have? A suppository?” She pulled it out and stared at it. Then she said, “Ethel, I’m glad you saw this thing. Now I think I know where my hearing aid is.

A young blonde lady had the windows in her house replaced with new double-insulated energy efficient windows. Twelve months later she got a call from the contractor, complaining that the work had been done for a year and she had yet to make the first payment. The blonde replied, “Now don’t go trying to pull a fast one on me. The salesman who sold me those told me that in one year they would pay for themselves”.

Good Morning All
I've just been watching CNN about the terror alert in Florida. Just wanted to let you know that my thoughts are with all you Florida girls and hope you all remain safe.
Gracious - The condensation on your windows is probably because the seal between the layers of glass is broken. This should not happen with new windows. I suggest you get on to the supplier right away.
I have to get ready to go out for badminton and then off to work this afternoon. No changes to report here - just maintaining as usual.
Bye for now.
Marie.

Dreier, Dreier, Welcome to our humble board. This is a great place for support and friendship. On how fast you lose depends on how much you have to lose. I started out with 110 and I lost 8 the first week. I strongly suggest you read the book and I think there are some newbie tips on the main page of the boards under info boards I think. Good luck. Looking forward to getting to know you. You are doing great with your exercise.
The numbers at the end of the posts are starting weight, current weight, goal weight.

It has been two busy days yesterday and today. But good days. Yesterday Mom and I made 30 pounds of pinto beans for the softball fund raiser my neice is having. If that wasn't a sight I don't know what is. Mom has this giant crawfish pot and it was halfway full of beans. It took two of us to carry it but we could have used a third person if there had been another handle. The man helping me couldn't even pick it up by himself.
I figured out why my abs were so sore yesterday..it wasn't the exercise like I had hoped but the heavy furniture I rearranged in my son's room.:) I just finished making my husbands birthday cake...I'm so weak...a few taste made their way into my mouth.:p But I will be good the rest of the day...promise.:)
Might even get to ride Papa Sonny's bike again. We did that yesterday for exercise...it was all going along great and wack...wack...first a bug flew in the left eye..then one flew in the right eye...it would have been more funny if it had been someone else..LOL seriously..instantly I couldn't see. Mom was laughing as she helped me hobble inside and get the little buggers out. Two little hard shelled bugs had decided to embed themselves in my eyes. Soooo not only did we get exercise from riding we had a pretty good belly roll or two at the whole situation.
I'm using mom's computer so I guess I shouldn't be a hog and get off of here. I'll try to sneak on later and see how everyone is doing.
WELCOME Denise!!!! You will love this crowd..they are wonderfully supportive. And you will be amazed at how much help they can be.
Love and hugs,

Sorry I did not get to post yesterday. Had to work, then had the boys last night for a while so DD could go to Open House at Middle School. She was not impressed. But we had a good time with the boys. Those 3 boys could eat us out of house & home, they have such an appetite. I made some cheese burritoes & I kept making them till they were full before I could make mine. That's ok. They enjoyed them & I enjoyed having them here. Have to pick them up at daycare this afternoon, so I will try to finish this post before then. Have alot to catch up in in 2 days.
Serene, Thanks for the sweet comments on my rememberance of dear late hubby, but as you also know, I have been blessed again with a wonderful man whom I also love dearly. He is a shining light in my life & all 4 of my GS now have a grandfather. Thurman never had kids of his own, so when we married almost 12 years ago, he became an instant father & grandfather. He just didn't have to go through all the hard years of raising teens :D LOl on the FF's You would make SEF proud! LOL loved em!
Jack-K Read note above to Serene. All ended very well. After 7 years of being a single parent, I remarried. But yes, that was my point about always parting on good terms with those we love. Where are you going on your cruise? Good luck with the new mini goal. I know you can do it! Oh, LOVED the poem os MYSELF. Sent it to my DD cause she was having a bad day.
Meliris LOl on the FF!!! Congrats on the 3 lb loss, but like you said, I sure hope it's not the muscle that you worked so hard to develope! Although my girls are grown with kids of their own, I can relate to the middle school age problem. My DD went to open house for her 6th grader last night & came home in dispair about several problems she & other mothers were discussing, like why are their kids up till 11 pm at night having to do homework, etc. One of the problems in math for instance was How much dirt in a 3x3x3 ft hole? The answer, none! There is NO dirt in the hole! Now I don't know about you, but I think this is no way to teach kids problem solving. That is playing guessing trick questions! Am I wrong? Where is the teaching in this?
Monet, Now that you have describe kibbe, I do remember eat them at a ME restraunt we went to a while back & you are absolutely correct...they ARE wonderful. We loved them. I think it's time to go back to that restraunt. I'm hungry for some ME food. IOn another note, we have cable connection & I would hate to think about going back to a dial up connection. I love my high speed cable internet. Loved your FF. Will have to show that one to my DH. He loves animals. Has lots of cats & a Sheltie (his 3rd one).
Gatorgal You sound so busy!! Are you having alot of opportunities to use your French? Did you go on your trip to Cuba yet? Maybe I just missed it.
LDBLOND, I sure hope that ice cream & cholate syrup was SF! :D Good to have you back on the board.
j red, Yes, the weight loss does seem to slow down to a crawl as we get closer to our goal. I noticed from my Weight Commander that I have only lost 10-12 lbs from last year at this time, but that's ok because I am keeping it off & it's down instead of up! :D
Gracious, I agree, sharing is one of the really great points about this board, that we can come to everyone here wheather it's with a heavy heart or one that is excited to the max! :cp: :dance: Sounds like the memorial services in Canada were just as special as those here. I was watching CNN earlier too & glad to hear that they have located those 3 men & getting it checked out.
Debbie, I sure hope things slow down for you soon so that you can catch your breathe! But it's easy enough to understand how it is when there's a lot going on in your life. I for one should understand since there are times I don't get to the board for a couple of weeks at a time:dz:
FILLISE, Lots to do before that election eh??
chrisb1022, It's just DH & I here at home, but he eats whatever I fix. He eats a little more at lunch time when he's at work, but likes this WOE. Even when I fix meals for company, I may add something extra, but mostly stick to the SB WOE then too & it's eaten, usually with lots of compliments. I do use recipes alot to try new things, so my family is use to my experimenting with them LOL
Beth2374, Sorry to hear that you are still having so much problems with your puter :(
CountryMom4Him, I'm so happy to hear that my story helped to confirm some things for you & yours. I just had the best chat with my DD who lives in Dayton, TX. We chat whenever we get online together. Sure saves on the phone bill. Anyway, we were talking about her dad & the memories she has of him. She was only 14 when he died, but it was one of the sweetest conversations we have had in a while. We're blessed to share good memories. My girls were 16, 14, & 8 at the time. OOPS!!! Watch those little licks of frosting. LOL Be strong, you can do it!
LKF, Your DH sounds a little like mind. Eats the SB WOE, but has extra on the side. That's ok. Sounds like you had a wonderful dinner at Landry's. I know how it is with church dinners, sometimes you don't have much choice.
dreier, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!! You've made a wonderful choice to do this WOE. It is one of the most effective & healthy WOE. The weight may not always come down in large numbers, but a slow steady pace is better than dropping it too fast. Stick to the book & you'll be fine. Lots of good info on our info boards too. Debbie is the best about good info. You'll get plenty of encouragement here too.
ROSALIE, Good to see you posting. Have funn at badminton! I have to work this week end. Glad to hear that you are maintaining. Better than gaining!
Hope I haven't missed anyone. If I did, it wasn't intentional. Will check in later!

No puns intended towards blondes, just love blonde jokes & even considered by many to be a blonde myself even though my hair is red. LOL
The Phone Company Interview
A phone company put an ad in the paper in order to recruit
workers. The next day, two groups of workers show up - a crew of
five men and a crew of five blonde women.
The company can not decide who to give the job to, so they give
the two groups a test. The company boss says, "Each crew will
receive a telephone pole that must be installed into the ground.
Whoever is able to hammer it in first will get the job."
Both groups agree that this is a fair test, so off they go in the
Company trucks with the long telephone poles sticking out the
back. A few hours pass, and finally, at 5:00, the male crew
returns. "Yes!" they shout. "We came back first, so we get the
job!!"
"Good work, men," says the boss, "However, we must wait until the
other crew comes back to make sure that the reason they're
delayed is not because of traffic or the truck breaking down."
"Fine, no problem," say the men. An hour passes, two hours pass,
three hours. Finally, at 8:30, the Blonde crew arrives. All the
group is flushed and breathing hard, as if they had just gone
through harsh labor.
"What happened to you? What took so long?" asks the boss
incredulously.
"What do you mean, 'what took so long'?? Do we get the job?"
"YOU get the job? No way! The men were back here HOURS ago!"
"Well, of course they were," say the blondes. "They only put the
pole in halfway!!"

Just Checking in.
Getting ready to head home. Going out with some couples that we are going on the cruise with on a friends houseboat for the evening. Should be fun, probably a little cool later though. Taking some cheeses and sausage for snacks.
Going to get some firewood tomorrow. We go to a little town close by to one of my DH's clinets and they have some dynamite cases that are great for burning.
Other than that, think it will be a quiet weekend.
Mel, Loved your FF. Isn't that the truth!! Have a great day.
Serene, have a nice day with your relatives. Drive carefully. Thanks for the internet serach. I don't usually have much time to play around on it. Most of my time is spent right here on this board.
Rosalie, Have a nice time at badminton and a good day at work.
Country, That's a lot of beans. I don't want to be around when everyone eats those!.Whew! Got a good laugh about your bike ride. Maybe you should wear some sunglasses or goggles. Don't blame you on the bites of cake. I would rather eat the cake batter than the baked cake. Yum Guess you used some muscles that haven't been used before moving that furniture.
Melf, I am so glad that you have found love again. I don't think anyone should ever be alone (unless they want to ). Wishes for many, many years together for you and Thurman. We are going to the EAstern Carribean. St. Thomas, St. Maartin, San Juan and Bahamas. I can't wait. Cute. FF. (Amazing, when I see FF, I still think French Fries). Warped, I know.
Have a great weekend everyone. Hope to check in over the weekend.

Hello Everybody! Well the work week is over. Yippee. Let the good times roll!!!
I managed to make it from Sunday til now without any starchy carbs. I'm just as shocked as you that I actually made it through the entire work week. Feels great. Now I'm going to easy into two (maybe three) this weekend. And that will be a nice introduction to one serving a day next week. Thanks for all your ideas and advice and encouragement. You know what???? We are one smart group! Seriously, we truly do know a lot about eating right and how to do it. I sure am glad I know you all.
I just have time for one personal greeting. And it has to be to our new member DREIER. Hey, girl, welcome to the board! It's great to meet you. Just in case you didn't notice on my signature, I'm from Cincinnati too. There is actually another member from here too, but she's MIA for the past month. I need to get on her and get her back on here on a regular basis. But anyway, I just wanted to say WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME. Hope you find a lot of support here. Just know that the weight will come off. Eliminating the illegal foods is a GREAT start. Be sure that you are not overdoing it on calories for each day. If you don't know how many calories you should be eating, our fearless leader DEB can help you with that. Just hang in there and give your body a chance to adjust to this wonderful new way of eating. I think it's fantastic that you've lost 1.5 pounds already. Just look at it this way. At least you are going in the right direction. Good luck!!! BTW, I'm on the west side. Where are you?
To everybody else, have a fabulous weekend!!! Don't cheat! Make good choices! Do an extra lap!!! LOL

Evening All:wave:
Have a few minutes to post, though not enough time to catch up with all the posts, not even to read them all, but did want to touch base with everyone and say hello.
Got a later start this morning than I anticipated. I didn't even walk today. Woke up feeling icky. I'm still holding on to whatever the heck it is I have, or don't have. I woke up feeling drained and more sick than not, but still not really sick. Don't know if anyone can relate, not sure if I even can. So, I went back to bed and fell asleep and woke up feeling even more tired than before I went to bed!:fr: Finally had to get my act together and run those important errands before I had to go get the kids from school. Came home, went back to sleep somewhere around 5:30, I think and woke up around 7:30ish, and honestly, I can't wait to go back to sleep! BUT, ELI is coming home soon so I'm waiting for him to come home to eat something and THEN I think we'll both hit the hay early, and I hope to feel better tomorrow, not that I truly feel bad, just really drained.
As mentioned, I don't have time to reply individually, but I did start replies the other day when I did have some time and did want to get them on here. At least it's better than nothing, though I'm sure much is outdated and not worth reading...
SERENE, ZIPPY CHICKENTUSH, geez, that names just seems to fit you so well! LOL!! Tranquil, staying off her feet, yeah, I'd like to see that. I bet money she couldn't do it for long, esp. if you put the words SALE up in a SEPHORA STORE! LOL!! I'll have to try a blueberry cheesecake soon, but I think I'll do it as a topping, like a gel type topping-yum!
MELF, I know I'll have the chance to meet you and many of the others one day soon-I really look forward to meetings like that. You should try to see if you can come to Orlando in January, there's going to be quite a few of us there, good time to come. We could use another cheerleader. You come and I'll buy you some beautiful SB POMPOMS!!!!
MONET, thanks for the offer on the bread. I'd have to be desperate to have it shipped, it's expensive enough, but with shipping costs, well, I'm just too darned cheap (and poor).
JACKK, ELI knows good and well that I have no willpower over such stuff. He'll be the first to say he doesn't like me so thin, he makes no qualms about it. BUT, ultimately, it's me who either can eat it or not. Send it back, yeah, right:s:
BOB, too bad you weren't here last night. We gave away Coconut Peanut Brittle, SB insulated cups, free coupon drinks, bags of coffee and a Cranium game. Hmm, to get your arse as your avitar, I think you'll have to get the size down. Is this possible. While you're at it, try giving that gal a breast reduction! Geez, it's bad enough I don't drink water for other reasons, now I have another thing to worry about if I drink too much? Nope, a full fledged candy bar was what I was talking about! Hey, you know us S.Floridians, anything to get us in the news, first hanging chads, now many not being able to vote down here-what's next?
TONI, hoping you are feeling better today. Yes, hot dogs are legal, but you have to read the ingredients. Many have nitrates, hard to find ones that don't, and I do like them once in a while. I buy the Hebrew National LF brand, I've found them to be the best. Others are a lot worse, so do be choosey.
TRANQUIL, glad to hear you'll be giving us your travel updates during your stay in the UK-that's so cool to be able to stay in touch. Now you can give me a daily update on the high cocoa content chocolates you find me (like you don't have anything better to do in the UK!). I know you will have a blast and how wonderful to be able to take Zach with you, and Gram as well.
JRED, glad to hear your laptop is fixed. Now that my desktop is sorta fixed, I've gotten use to the laptop and though it too has it's problems, I don't know which is the lesser of two evils in using. CONGRATS on another 2lbs down-great bday present! CONGRATS to DH on the new job. Is it that far away that he has to get a place to stay and commute on the weekends? I hope it all works out and it's not too much of a strain of you being apart.
QUILTER, hope you are feeling better today, I know you must be, at least when it comes to the scale! CONGRATS on your loss, that's great news! You'd think I'd get sick as a dog on those coffee beans, darn, it would be nice to eat them then barf them back up, then. Okay, you had asked me about the starchy carbs and why the ww tortilla's would count as 2 carbs. A serving of a starchy carb is supposed to be approx 60 calories or 1 ounce. The tortilla is 120 calories and it almost a 2 ounce serving, hence counting it as 2 starchy carbs. I listed a site a few weeks ago that has serving sizes on it. I was shocked to see a sweet potato serving is just 2oz and here I'd try to eat one whole nice sized one at a setting!
I did want to take a moment
and WELCOME our newest board member
DREIER
http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign3.jpg
Glad you are joining us! As some of the gals have mentioned, and I do add, you are doing great! Don't worry if it seems like the weight is coming off slowly, there can be MANY reasons for this. I can tell you that, for me, at least, from the beginning of my TOM cycle til mid-cycle I stay up on the scale and won't come down til after mid-cycle, no matter what. Also, if you are coming off of one diet and jumping straight on the SB band wagon, that could have something to do with it. Are you eating enough? That can be just as bad as eating too much. I can just tell you, if you are following the plan as you should be, it would be very rare that you wouldn't lose the weight. One of the main keys of being successful on this WOE is patience, if you are patient, it will pay off. Too many people don't see immediate results and just throw in the towel (I'm guilty of this in the past) and thus look for the next diet to go on. Stick with us and with this WOE and you'll find that this WOE will work for you when you work for it:D Once again, WELCOME
Okay gals, I'm outta here for now. I hope to find some time to start anew with posts tomorrow or Sunday, but moreso tomorrow.
Have a wonderful weekend!!

I was 242 - which is down since WIW....but still 1.5 lbs higher than my all time low.... but clothes are getting looser....
Friday Funnies = all were funny - thank you all for sharing them!

Saturday afternoon. It has been raining here all day. We need it to bad that I don't even mind. I've been in a funk all day. Woke up that way. Can't say it's a bad mood, who knows. Dreamed about my mom all last nite (she's been gone almost 4 years) and it has really stuck with me. Also go some bad news about my dad. His carorded arteries (sp) are blocked 99% on one side and 75% on the other. They have been blocked for years but not to that extent. They would never do surgery due to his week hear. He goes Monday to another Dr to talk about it. So maybe it's a combination of him and my mom that's bringing me down today.
Went shopping thinking it might lift my spirits. Did get 3 sweaters for $50. and a pair of shorts and top for $20. Not too bad. was looking for shorts on sale to take on my cruise. Can't hardly find any anywhere.
WAs hoping reading all the posts would help my mood, but it hasn't. Sorry not to post individually, but just not up to it today. Tomorrow will be better.

JACK-K- Hugs and prayers to you.
TONI- I didn't read what others might have written about the yogurt but I thought I would throw in my 2 cents. I buy my yogurt from the organic section in my store. I don't care about the organic part, but that is the only brand that I could find that didn't have cornstarch. So maybe you should check the organic dairy section of your store and see what they have.
Slow weekend on the board. I ended up having an unexpected houseguest. A 20 year old guy shows up at our church while hubby was there studying and says he is his 3rd cousin. He came for dinner and is spending the night. :eek: I am one of those anal retentives that prefers to have some notice before houseguests arrive! Dinner went well enough and he is a nice young Christian man. He is to spend the night, come to church with us in the morning and keep going. He is from Alberta and has crossed Canada to visit all his relatives.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Just finished the church bulletin for tomorrow. Gee, it's been a long day. I'm working my 12's so I just came to sneak a peek before I go iron a uniform for tomorrow.
:cry:Blue Bunny Yogart has cornstarch in it:?: Oh well, I have done ok with it, so I'm sticking to it. I think. :rolleyes: Guess I'll have to think about it.:shrug:

Toni - Sorry to hear you are not feeling good, I hope you get better soon!
JackK - You did well on your shopping! Sorry about your funk, I am right there with you....
Gracious - Wow, that is an interesting story about him crossing Canada meeting his relatives, but I too would like some notice...but I am sure you treated him well :)
Melf - Don't work too hard at the hospital! :)
Today was a bad day - it started out ok - I had fun cleaning guinea pigs and cage and chasing them all over the bathroom - they are fast! the weather has been miserable, the scale was good I am down another pound....but just feel funky like JackK {{hugs}}- then late this afternoon, my uncle called me from Alaska to tell me some horrible news, my cousin, whom I adored, was killed on his motorcycle - it is in the news for Anchorage, Alaska, where they live.... I cannot attend the funeral because of it being so expensive to travel there and all....but I am devastated, and trying to understand why....anger, of course, at the teenager who killed my cousin....my cousin was a veteran of two wars, retired MP, a Mormon (he did not drink, do drugs, nothing - a saint considering the days and times we live in), a devoted father, a devoted son, and someone who always gave when he didn't even have anything to give...and I had to be the one to share this news to my mother and my grandmother who were very close to him...

Good Sunday Morning Everyone:wave:
Thought I'd take a break and try to get in a short, general post before I have to get in the shower.
I have been counting COFFEE BEANS most of the morning. ELI is finally going to do a party at work next month (the one we wanted to do for the grand opening) and one of my ideas was to be able to guess how many coffee beans where in a gallon mason jar. Well, of course, I have to make it an exact count, and I can't just put in pieces of beans, so I've been picking out coffee beans that meet my high standards. I haven't filled the jar yet and have already counted 3,000 beans out:eek:
I did not walk today, got up late and still felt tired. I think, or at least I hope, that taking off a few days will help me feel back to normal. I guess being around my sick nieces aren't helping me get any better though:shrug:
ELI was off from work yesterday, which I didn't learn about until Friday night when he got home, so it was a nice surprise, though I'd much rather him be off today. We just took Lauren up to lunch at OLE OLE and then had to head home. Even though he was off, he had to teach a class downtown.
Today my sister asked me to go with her to look for a couch. She bought one recently and it's falling apart so they said she could replace it with another and she wants my input. I think it's more taht she wants me to help with the baby. She came over last night with the baby because all she did all day was cry-one look at Aunt Debbie and the child stopped crying and was excellent all evening, even allowing us to play a game of Scrabble!
Tomorrow there is no school here, teacher planning day. I'm hoping to be able to get up a bit early and start the week off right with jogging. Michael has a Dr. appt at 11am, just a well visit, our once-a-year to the Dr., otherwise, he never sees Michael or Lauren (thank goodness). Michael has his guitar lesson in the afternoon. May take them to a movie in between if there's time, so may not be around much to post tomorrow. Tuesday, things should be somewhat back to normal around here, or at least I hope they are!
TRANQUIL, sorry to hear about your cousin. My condolences to you and your family. That's such a tragedy. I'm sure they all know you'd like to be with them during this time, but they certainly understand why you can't attend.
Time for me to hit the shower. I'll be back on this evening to begin working on the new board for tomorrow. If I have some time I will most definitely try to get in a post later, otherwise I hope to sometime tomorrow.
Toodles

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!! :wave:
Sorry so many of you have got the BLUES today..I totally understand and can relate..
JACKIE...I don't know the severity of your Dad's heart, but they can roto rooter his carotid very easy. The problem with that diagnosis, they don't even consider the procedure until the patient is at least 80% blocked! My Mom has the same problem, but hers is not yet blocked enough to do. My Uncle has had his done twice and feels like a new man each time! Does he live in Lexington?
I know it didn't help to see the CATS go down. At least it wasn't a conference game! Feel better Friend..
I'm here if you want to unload! :eek:
TONI...GET UP OFF THAT COUCH AND GET TO DOING SOMETHING!!!
Don't make me come up there...You can shake this..we're here for you...just let loose and start screaming!!! :o
DEB...I hope that wasn't STARBUCKS COLUMBIAN COFFEE BEANS you're counting :eek:
I assume that you didn't find the underwear yesterday? I forgot to tell you that he especially likes the one without the fly! He says they are moe supportive...he wears them when he referree's

Yes...rather slow and gloomy around here, I must say.
MELF- I think I was *gracious* ;) He didn't know about my flipping out and running around trying to find something in my house to make for dinner. :eek: He was a very nice young man and it was a pleasure to meet him. After church we came back for lunch and now he is on his way to visit my in-laws, but they have the benefit of knowing he is coming!
TRANQUIL- I am so sorry to hear about your cousin. That is such a dreadful thing to happen. I agree with DEBELLI when she says your relatives will surely understand your not being able to attend the funeral. {hugs}
DEBELLI- 3000 coffee beans? Don't drop that jar or lose count girl!
BOB-Whose underwear are you talking about?
Well...hopefully people will be back on the board tomorrow and in better spirits.

It's a little cooler today but they missed it big when they said we were getting rain last night! I'm ready for this heat to break.
Why are the blahs hitting us all at once? Is it something in the air? My blahs come from a hubby who doesn't want to leave the house and I've got cabin fever real bad. He said he'd take me to see My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but peetered out when it was time to leave. I almost went without him, but decided I didn't want to see that particular movie alone. He starts his new job next Monday and is trying to find a cheap vehicle to buy; trying to decide whether to get it here or up in Amarillo. He has 30 days living expenses so he'll have time to find an inexpensive place to live. Amarillo is a 7-8 hour drive northwest of us. He'll fly home Friday evenings and back Sundays.
I'm in the throws of an ugly mid-cycle something. I am ravenous and not satisfied by anything I put in my mouth. The scales are up 4 pounds, too and I know it's hormones, but I don't like it.
Sabrina: So sorry about your cousin. You, your mom and grandmother will be in my prayers.
BOB: One of my teams didn't play and one won big (OOOOHHHH, PIG, SOOOOOOIIIIEEEEE) We must be pretty busy this weekend.
Gracious: I'd be calling that window company, that condensation isn't normal. Here in Texas, those double paned windows always collect moisture because the heat causes the seals to break. After about 5 years, they have to be replaced.
Toni: Feel Better Soon, Girlfriend!!
Deb: How in the world are you keeping up with your count? I'd have to start over so many times if I was doing that. Too ADD!!! The party sounds fun, though. I need to visit my local SB, all this talk has made me want one
Jack-K: Congrats on the purchases. I bought an outfit yesterday, too, but mine was more expensive. But it was birthday money from my folks and it is sooo cute and comfortable.
Gotta run, I've got a busy afternoon ahead of me. A meeting, orchestra rehearsal and reading 2 chapters of a book for my night class.
Take care,
Jeanie

Hi, I am new and I am not sure where I begin posting. I am not sure if it is the general place or here so I drew straws and you won!!! I have been trying to do the Atkins diet for 3 weeks and I am so bored with eggs and meat. I just ordered the sugar buster book and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. I hope it is ok to just hang out until it arrives. I have high blood pressure and I am looking for away to live longer. I hope that I can get to know all of you and learn to put some of your wisdom into my new WOE. Thanks for reading this.
Have a great Sunday,
Sue

Good afternoon everybody! It's cloudy and drizzly outside right now..I love the break in the heat. Hopefully it won't rain any harder and I can sneak away for a walk later. Way behind already this week. But it's been a blast this weekend. The dart machine was broken so we chased arrows instead. I hit one man's fletchings twice...lol I went outside this afternoon to show my mom how I shoot and shot one arrow smack into the other arrow...woo hoo!!!! :D :D Can you tell I'm still excited about that one.
Sabrina..I am so sorry for your loss. Praying God's comfort and peace for your family during this sad time. ((((((((hugzz))))))))))
Red and everyone one else kinda in the pits today....:grouphug:
Thinking good thoughts and sending tons of love your way!
Well, the front door is wide open and a million dogs are running in and out..better round up the herd and get em back outside.
Love and hugs,
Crystle

:eek: WAIT TILL YOU HEAR THIS ONE :eek:
BOB was down at her friendly
neighborhood STARBUCKS when she decided to stop at the ME grocery before heading home. Came out of the parking lot to the area that crosses the sidewalk?
This man on a bicycle came from nowhere waving at me to either get back or go on and get out of his damn f*$%8ng way !!
I could do nothing but sit there and stare at him! THEN...HE STARTED RAMMING MY CAR DOOR WITH HIS BIKE!!!! BOB was speechless (if you can believe that one!) and still....just sat there....As he came at me again I was able to get out into traffic and dang if he wasn't going the same direction as me! I turned into the ME grocery parking lot, and thought he was coming in there too, but he found extra strength and took off like a bullit! He was very scary..I should have called the police, but you know them, they are NEVER where they should be!
