I loved daily weigh-ins last month. Right off the bat, though I won't be able to weigh-in after today until the 11th or so. Oh well, I want to do this. It was really motivating to see all of the little changes add up last month. Here goes it:

I hope my scale is not playing an April Fool's joke on me because I was down 1.8 lbs today!! 225.4 yesterday, 223.6 today. I was hoping to be 224.X by my official weigh on on Saturday, I never expected to just completely skip over 224!!

I'm not adjusting my ticker quite yet - I think this was a TOM whoosh, but I want to make sure it sticks before changing the ticker, I hate playing catch up.

Hi, everyone. I am in! I enjoyed the "March into March" thread and look forward to this thread. I am starting a little high, especially after announcing that I got to Onederland. :) I traveled this weekend and was up 2 pounds this morning. I am pretty happy with that because I am visibly holding water and am constipated. When I get back to normal, I should at least be back to my pre-trip weight and may have lost. I stayed on plan pretty well. When eating out I had to estimate some calories. I considered not weighing for a couple of days but the morning did not seem complete without getting on the scale.

6 - 201 - My membership to the Onederland club may be revoked! :) I know that the problem is my IBS because I am having some pain but I really hate seeing the 200. I just have to remind myself that I always have a weight range. It won't be too long until that range is all in the 190s.

Wow, congrats to both PM and time2lose! PM, I'm so glad you are finally recovered having been sick and holding on to an enormous amount of water because of it. And Time2lose, it sounds like you're due for quite a whoosh beyond even where you were. How excellent!

As for me...I'm lowering the carbs. *sigh* I do like my carbs. Good carbs, mind you! I like apples and berries and quinoa and all that good, yummy, HEALTHY stuff that most people get to lose weight on. *Sigh*

...moving on. :D

I am down 1 lb from yesterday.. to 171.4... I did 5 miles on the treadmill last night and resisted all nighttime munchies, went to bed hungry... it worked. I missed my April 1 goal of 170... but I'll make up for it in the rest of the month.

I walked the treadmill yesterday instead of video or outside walking...wanted to make sure I got my exercise in! I am exactly same today...no loss or gain; I do feel very swollen today, so hopefully tomorrow I will have a whoosh!! pushing the water today so it will happen!

Keeping my mind on my plan, stepping on the scale 2nd thing in the morning (1st thing is the pee!), logging what on eat on Daily Plate, being accountable to YOU, helped me to lose 4 lbs last month even though I only address my new healthy lifestyle halfheartedly. I moved, visited my family (always has induced stress eating and drinking before) AND went on vacation, yet still maintained a downward trend...This really really helps me! ;)
My Goal for April is to hit my 2nd goal of being 20 lbs lighter.

Finally getting serious about this after gaining weight with back to back pregnancies. (Being pregnant for almost two solid years isn't great for your diet plan.)

This seems like a great way to kick this into high gear. But the funny thing is, I don't own a scale. I'm going to buy one tomorrow on my lunch break and weigh in for the first--scary--time tomorrow night. I estimate my current weight to be around 235, but that is a complete guess. Hope I'm not too far off!

ETA: I just realized today is my 5 month anniversary of this journey, so even if I'm not changing my ticker and chickie yet, it's neat that I hit 40 lbs exactly on my anniversary for an average 8 lbs loss per month, which is just amazing to me.

Gettn, I know you mean by not wanting to start the month off like this. I went up .6 yesterday, and today I stayed. So at least I didn't gain but I didn't lose either. I KNOW it's water, I forgot my water bottle at home yesterday so I was basically lost at work. Today I made sure I brought my water bottle in and I will be downing as much water as possible for a nice woosh.

It is nice to see everyone so motivated! Great job on all the losses!
I did weigh in yesterday...down .6 to 276. My husband and I were painting my Mom's kitchen. From prep time to complete finish it took us 6+ hrs!! I am so sore and swollen today! I was afraid to weigh in this morning; good news, I am up but only by .2. I was expecting much worse!
My husband has joined in my journey. It is nice to have someone in the house working with me; but it is discouraging when I eat less and he loses more!!

I really think the sleep and absolute lack of stress in my life is the culprit of the loss. I could stress over everything going on, but decided it would only be a circle that would be hard to get off of. Sleep is always a must have for me to lose weight. Dunno if I'm right, but it's working!

Wow.. everyone is doing so well.

I am down this morning to 170.6... so close. I stayed on track really well yesterday. I actually didn't exercise to give my legs a break. Did lots of yard work, cleaned the car- hope that counts for something. Movies at night... I didn't have a single snack- brought water with me and went to bed with my tummy grumbling... it was worth it to see the number on the scale this morning. :)

I plan to do a long bike ride today.. to keep the momentum going.

Oh yes!! 193.6 today, finally some movement!! I really hope this trend continues. Really, really, really!

Had my first session with a personal trainer this morning. I LOVE him. He worked my shoulders until they burned, and yet I don't feel as though I over did it whereas when I do it myself, I don't feel a burn and yet somehow manage to kill myself. I'm so backwards! But I love to feel the burn!

My body finally through off the excess water and stuff from traveling. I had a woosh to 197. That is a totally new number and I don't "officially" claim it until I see it 2 or 3 times. I am looking forward to losing 3 or 4 pounds more so that when I have those fluctuations, I still don't see 200. I remember being really frustrated when I got a little below 250 but when back up to it when I had a few pounds of water weight. So I remind myself that I never see 250 now!

Wow, what a whoosh! Two pounds yesterday and another this morning??? Finally my due whoosh!! AND my family went to an old classic 1950's small town family owned hamburger joint where they probably still cook their hamburgers in lard. :rofl: I could be wrong, but they did when we were kids! It's a place that's so close to where I grew up my brother and I used to walk there all the time for a burger, fries and a shake. Yummy! So my brother and I (with families) met there last night. DH and I split our sandwiches so we had half a burger and half a chicken sandwich. I had four fries and a milkshake. AND, get this! The mother of an old high school friend recognized me and I swear she would not have at my heaviest. Said she'd recognize my face anywhere! :D And I wasn't horrified for her to see me.

So overall, a very, very good day!

And Uber, so glad you've joined us!

I know that when I go back to the gym (hopefully today if they are open, if not definately tomorrow) my muscles will swell back up and will probably have a gain, but I am ok with that because now I can it is working!!!:woops:

up today by .8... to 171.4 lbs. Serious sore legs all night from my first bike ride of the season... only 5 miles but 2 uphill.... hoping it drops for tomorrow. I got up at 3 AM to take ibprophen. So sore.

I did 3.5 miles on the treadmill this morning to warm up the leg muscles and work off some water.

Sort of off topic but we've been in our new house since October and we're always making new discoveries. I just discovered that walking around our double cul-descac is exactly .5 miles. I think that's so cool! DH and I have been walking around it 2-4 times after dinner, so that's 1-2 miles every night.

I did not get to post yesterday...I was down .5 yesterday. Today was another great surprise...I am down 1 full pound to 272.6!!! WooHoo! I did watch what I ate, stayed pretty close to plan on Easter Sunday, and did not have one piece of candy! I even gave my brother the chocolate bunny from one of my students! Now the temptation is out of the house! The candy in my daughters baskets has peanut butter~which I can't have due to allergies, so I am not tempted!

Eliana - that sounds like a lovely start to a day. I have been rushing around because I did not prepare enough last night and slept too late this morning, totally my own fault!

I am back up this morning. It seems that anytime I have a car trip of any length, I retain water. Yesterday afternoon drove 1.5 hours to DD's and then back last night. Then today, I am back up to 201 after being down to 197 and 198 on Sat. and Sun. I know it has to be water weight because I have been strictly on plan.

Does riding in a car make anyone else swell up? Oh well, at least I know what is going on.

I don't know because I've never been a daily weigher with a car trip involved before. But I know a trip of that duration probably has no effect on me. My mom's is an hour away and we make that trip frequently with no retention from me. Of course a 1.5 round trip is an hour more of sitting than that, so I'm not sure. That's the longest routine trip we take.

It is only water retention though, so that's good!

And my lovely start to my day is because I am on SPRING BREAK!! So it's even more pleasurable. :D

Mom23, Why do you use the high number? :dizzy: LOL! The after shower weight was probably because you were still wet, or sometimes I think gravity sets in. :rofl: I'd take the lower number, definitely. I always weigh more after a shower too. My hair holds onto quite a bit of water!

Angihas2 - what pain meds are you taking? I thiknk mine are making me retain, too. I started taking them a few weeks ago, and I feel like my body is just holding on to what I drink.

MomtoThree - what? Take the lower number, woman! :lol: The aftger shower weight includes water that hasn't evaporated yet. It's like drinking a big glass of water before hopping on the scale! Congrats on the second 10% and and 25 lbs!


I'm up to 238.6 today (up 1.2 from yesterday) but I was totally expecting it. I didn't eat poorly yeasterday (though I didn't track the calories), but there was a lot of salt in the food and I didnt' drink nearly as much water as I'm used to. Also? I'm pretty sure Aunt Flo is coming for a visit any time now. I'm not worried about it. I expect to be back down a bit tomorrow.

I went to a new GP today for a regular physical. He was proclaimed me healthy. His scale read a lb less than mine, how often does that happen?

OK... I am so not happy with today. Up today to 172.4 from 171.4 ... and I am being SO good...its painful. I really wanted 170 this weekend.

Raw veggie wrap for lunch, large salad with FF dressing for dinner, banana for a snack, lots of water... ARGH.

Doctors appt today - their scale said 173, but they are never right.. and I was dressed. I'm healthy- just overweight.

I haven't exercised today yet...and I'm losing motivation. :(

A new low this morning! :carrot: I think there may be something to this carb sensitivity. I've cut back on all carbs allowing myself one a day. :dizzy: But the weight is going down again. I don't know if it's just time for a whoosh or if it's the low carbs, but it's working, so I'm sticking to it.

That is great news, Eliana! :carrot: Maybe I need to lower my carbs more. Currently I make sure that they are less than 50% of my diet.

I had a 201 this morning. My membership to the Onederland club may be revoked! :) I know that the problem is my IBS because I am having some pain, but I really hate seeing the 200. I just have to remind myself that I always have a weight range. It won't be too long until that range is all in the 190s.

So, I'm back. Boy, I'm glad I am back because I stepped on the scale this morning and saw 259.5. I'M IN THE 250's!!! I'm so excited.

Last weigh in was 264 on Friday, but I know there was water to woosh. I've been crazy on plan this past week.

I also saw myself on some video from Easter weekend. I started crying, I'm so BIG! I never see myself that big.

This loss and that video are crazy motivation to keep my butt in gear. Gonna keep myself accountable through daily weigh ins too!

Yay on the losses and I sympathize with those who have been going up and down, the past month has been like that for me. But overall, still down, which is why I am finding these daily weigh ins so helpful, I can see just how non-linear this is!! I knew that before, but seeing my daily weights plus everyone else's examples really makes it hit home.

I am down this morning to 268.1. I am quite pleased with this since easter dinner was quite high in sodium. Next Tuesday's goal is 264.9, I'm so precise :lol:

Small NSV. I just tried on my summer clothes . Nothing really surprising, but it was nice to find some tops I couldn't wear last summer fit now. I packed up the winter/too small clothes to store in the attic, but left a few too small things, that I might be able to wear by the end of the season.

Hubby went to the dr today because he has a muscle in his back that is hurting him, Maybe pulled. This is a chronic thing with him, but he was working on the fence yesterday. The Dr told he what to do for his back and also mentioned that his Chol is high at 210. While this isn't horrible its something that needs to be nipped in the bud. Dr gave him some eating guidelines, mostly what I've been doing anyway to lose weight. So my reaction to this is rather...glee-ful. He's not in any real danger and has to make the changes I've been trying to get him to make. So I feel vindicated! :yay:

Wish I could say the same for myself, didn't gain, didn't lose. Although yesterday when I got home from work, before I ate dinner, I was back at my ticker weight (exactly 1lb down from where I'm at now). So hmm... Maybe I'll do that again today. Maybe I'll stop weighing myself in the morning and just go with that number. I'll be back!

Okay ladies! Drum roll for me, will you? As of this morning, I weighed in 235.4 lbs (down a shocking 1.4 lbs since yesterday! Confirming my suspicion that my pain meds were making be retain, ftr, since my rx ran out on monday) - which puts me at over FIFTY POUNDS total loss! 50.6, if we're being precise. Woo hoo!

I am a little under the weather this week with a sinus infection...skipped work yesterday and haven't had an appetite at all this past 6 days. I am actually reminding myself to eat and to stay hydrated.

One highlight of my week: I woke up this am, stepped on the scale and was greeted by 253.4 That is only .4 away from my 2nd short term goal of losing 20 lbs. I was so excited I went and woke my boyfriend up! My ticker needs a big fat update but I'm not feeling up to it at the mo. I'll officially move it downward when I hit the 20 lbs.

Michelle I totally feel ya. i'm also battling sinus. Drinking has been easy, eating not so much. I've only been getting like 1500 cals these past few days instead of 1800. Scale is moving, hope it doesn't stall when I get my appetite back. :(

Shylah - your sinus's too? Mine have been doing something weird for nearly a week, I haven't been able to eat my full 1800 for a few days too, which makes my weight loss stall, so I've been force feeding myself, and drinking calories. Hope yours feel better soon too!

I weighed, up .2, which is likely due to eating late last night, plus not getting my full calories in.

I am down to 224.8 this morning. I finally went to the MD about a foot injury that happend 3 weeks ago (I am stubborn). They are putting me in a hard boot and NO exercise for the next 2 weeks. I am so bummed. I love exercising now, it is so relaxing.

Shylah, a trick I use with pizza is that I cut my slice in half, then I have two. ;) I honestly do not feel pizza deprived when I do this.

So, I was starting to think my scale was broken, since everyday it seems like a -loss-, then I came and looked, it's 5.2 since the month started and we're already almost into the double digits. :D Ok. :D South Beach Phase I is no carbs (other than veggies) for two weeks. Phase II begins by adding ONE carb per day for a week. This is where I jumped in this time. I did not do phase I but am losing as if I did. Pretty cool.

B: egg omelette made with green, yellow and red pepper, onion, asparagus, mozarella cheese. (Steel cut oats on Spin Cycle class days)
S: salad with chicken and homemade vinegar/oil dressing (basically vinegar, oil, italian spices)
L: chicken and veggies
S: apple with almond butter (non spin class days) or meat and veggies
D: Meat and veggies
S: Greek yogurt with walnuts and Fiber One cereal

Gosh, that sounds boring, but it isn't. My meals usually consist of a meat and veggies, period. I find different ways to cook/flavor the meats. I love stir fries and fajita fillings (no tortilla). I stick to 1200 calories, each mini meal consisting of about 200 calories.

That's about it.

Well, now that I think about it, i do a lot more carbs than I realize. Though normally I'm only around 130 a day.

Wondering if I should cut it down a bit too. Hmm, we'll see after I get feeling better hehe.

Shylah, I have PCOS and one of my symptoms is insulin resistance. That's why I'm doing this. Calorie counting alone was working for a while, but then it just sort of stopped. I had a month with a loss of 4 pounds, the next month was 3 pounds and then I had a 2.5 pound loss in an entire month. I'm convinced it's because of the insulin resistance. My body is really good at storing fat which might have helped me back in prehistoric times. ;) Not so much now!

I would not be eating this way if I was losing the typical 1-2 lbs per week. But after three months of some major stalls and very little loss, it was time to kick things up again.

Eliana, I'm finding my Gyn is very hesistant to diagnose me PCOS. I've been having so much trouble with that part of my body since having my son. The cysts are crazy outrageous!

Wow, I am down to 224.4 today. That is a new all time low.

It is really hard to find non-weight bearing exercise that don't involve water that I enjoy. I ended up making a custom Wii active workout that only uses my upper body. I have to say I do not miss those 30 second squats. :jig:

GB- great on cutting down on bad carbs, that is my next step

Wow - SO many posts today! I missed a lot today!

Congrats girls on all the new lows :) As for the gains - well it's something we gotta deal with when we weigh daily.. but there is always tomorrow :)

Eliana - sounds like you've got everyone thinking! I don't believe I have PCOS, however I definitely don't do well with carbs .. I bought the South Beach book last year but it got stashed when we moved.. I'll be pulling that out when I start to stall.. Congrats on the loss, you are rocking this weight loss stuff :)

I always lose the first ten pounds after being off plan really quickly. I also gain ten pounds when going off plan really quickly.

Eliana--I also have PCOS and IR. Before our spring break I'd been at 228, and over the break I had reasonable meals but with too much carb intake. I get home, and there I was, 6 lbs. heavier. Danged IR!

Ah, thanks ladies for the comforting words.
My dad is doing South Beach and my mom is on Jenny Craig. We were all crazy off-plan and my parents Wii kept a running tally of the effect...lol.

I'm just slightly disappointed because I've been working really hard to manage situational issues. I'm great at school, where I can control everything that comes into my house; outside of college, I'm easily off-plan and typically really badly. Its a journey, right? I keep reminding myself that making the effort and being aware of my faults, in combination with attempting to fix them, is the most important thing

up 2 lbs today! Yikes but not complete unexpected, I really ramped up the exercise yesterday after not really working out for almost a month due to being sick (sinus infection and bronchitis so not being able to breathe well really puts a crimp in exercise ability! lol!)

Did another good workout today (a Biggest Loser Last Chance workout) so I expect my weight to stay up for a bit, until my body gets used to this level of activity again.

Not fun to see the scale move the wrong direction, but it beats the alternative of not exercising, right?

Me, I'm down .8 pounds today. This is the longest whoosh I've ever had outside of just starting. I feel like I'm just beginning again and it's awesome!

My gym offered it's first Monday AM spin class with a new instructor and wow, she kicked my rear!! It was a little funny because there were only TWO members in the class: me, a 188 pound woman (thank you very much :D) and an older gentleman who was carrying a good bit of weight. I thought she'd go easy, but oh no!! She killed me within the first 15 minutes and did not let up. I kept thinking, oh my gosh, look at who you are working with! There was no hiding! There was no slacking. To her a recovery period was never more than a minute and was usually taken STANDING UP! It was awesome! :rofl: Well, it was awesome to be done, let's just say that.

up another .6 today. I am VERY glad to be able to work out again, though, I don't think I realized how much I missed it and how much better I feel doing it. Even after just a couple of days back at it, I'm really feeling better and was even very pleasantly surprised at how little ground I lost in terms of my endurance. (Maybe because I was still on the very low side anyway! lol!)

I know the scale will catch up and while I'm annoyed it's not going to be in time to hit a nice milestone for my birthday, I'm not going to worry about it either. It may even cause me to not get to Onederland by June 21, but at least right now, I don't even mind that too much - I'm getting to Onederland (and beyond) no matter what, so if I don't hit it by a specific date, I can't put that much effort into worrying about.

Thanks for the welcome, patchworkpenguin! My dog -- Aspen -- has been such an inspiration for me. I think these days, however, I wear HIM out with all the walks we do. Haha. You seem to have an adorable doggie as well. :)

Congrats on your NSV. I recently had the same one. My mom brought me to a clothing store. I haven't bought any "real" clothes in such a long time, as I mostly just wear over-sized hoodies and rag-tag jeans that no longer fit. Our shopping experience let me realize I am now a size 16. I was once a size 26. Wow!

I am getting so frustrated. I've been so VERY on plan these past few weeks, minus one cheeseburger that I granted myself after getting back my taste buds. Now I'm regretting that even though I was only over my calories for the day by 200 with that cheeseburger, since I planned for it during the day. Every other day I've been right on between 1600 and 1800 cals.

I'm aggravated!!

Shylah, I doubt highly that you are seeing the results of the hamburger. ;) Like you said, it was only 200 calories over. It could be any number of things.

I looked back at your weight record and how many days were you at the 259.5? Do you know? It kind of looks like you are stuck. If it's only been a couple weeks, I wouldn't get too worried over it. When I'm stuck I like to shake things up in any number of ways.

* Get more sleep (huge)
* Drink more water
* Go on a fruit/veggie fest for two days
* Decrease the calories
* Zig zag the calories
* Take an extra walk in the evening

I hope the scale starts moving again! I hate being stuck!
