Default Shoes?

I am in dire need of some new shoes to work out. I would love to know your opinions/suggestions.

I'll be up front and tell you I refuse to buy Nike. I usually wear New Balance or Adidas.

Last time I needed new shoes I just went to a sporting goods store and said "I do ______ when I work out, and I am a poor college student. What do you have for me." :| It worked out pretty well, they gave me a mens shoe that was on sale in a size that was equivalent to a women's 10. You could try that...

I went to Roadrunners.com (well I went to the roadrunners store first) and was fitted for the right shoes for my feet. In the two years I have been buying shoes there I have had ZERO problems with foot pain since! I'm never buying shoes anywhere else again.

i have mizuno and i love them. I went to Shoe Clinic, where they get you to walk on a sensor and measure where you put your weight when you run and walk, and then pick the shoe for you. I also told them i needed extra ankle support. They are amazing I love them so much. I have worn them a lot for about 2 years, although mostly in a gym, and there is very little wear on them. Nothing has gone wrong with them ever. They have never rubbed. I think i have sprained my ankle very mildly twice while running with them on. They werent cheap though, around $200 NZ, but it really depends on whether you need something to get by with or if you want to invest in something thats going to last a while and is nice

Shoes are an individual thing. I'm a Brooks girl, but some people can't wear them. Can you go get fitted at a running store? I did that, and now I just find my shoes at Sports Authority or Dick's, usually on the sale rack.

And I absolutely hear you on the Nike.

I've tried every brand of shoe, and I've always loved Nike..but as you said, that's a no for you.

It's just up to you. I'd go to a store and just try on some pairs and do some jumping jacks or something in them. It's all different for each person!

Thanks ladies! I just found a Running Outfitters store that's down the street from work. Looks like I'll be going by there sometime this week. They do a gait analysis and everything. WHEEEE!

I just got fitted for my first pair of running shoes last weekend--it was really exciting for me I did end up spending about $140 though! My shoe of choice is the Asics Kayano 16.

I love Saucony! I got a new pair a few weeks ago and I love them.

Edit: I never buy Nikes either. They always run too narrow for me.

100 % vote for ASICS ... best running/walking/jumping, etc sneakers ever! I have tried buying reebok, adidias, nike, saucony, and always always go back to Asics and I'm on my 3rd pair of asics, they are totally worth the money!

hmm.. I always thought New Balance was Nike

I have no idea what brand my shoes are. I went to a Snail's Pace and they fitted me out with shoes. I had to run around the store while someone watched my feet, which was awkward, but I like my shoes.
