Default Hungry All the Time...

Hey all,
Just a question or two. Lately, I have found myself hungry all the time. We're talking every 3 hours regardless of how much I ate prior. its like clockwork. i could eat a small amount or a large amount and the hunger is still there. The question is this: if I'm high cal for that day, do I eat or do I just deal with hunger? What do you do in this situation? I'm thinking it may be a fiber problem....though idk. I know its not dehydration because I'm very careful with that. Opinions are welcome. Thanks so much.

I had this problem for a while. A few hours after I ate I would have incredible hunger pangs, no matter what I ate and whether I ate a lot or a little. Sometimes they were even worse if I had eaten a lot. I would eat again and they would (usually) go away for another few hours. I was eating so much as a result. Eventually I learned that it wasn't hunger at all but gastritis.

If you have too much acid in your stomach it can mimic hunger pangs, and when you dilute the acid by eating it feels better. But in my case it wasn't actually hunger, which is why it didn't matter what I ate. Is there any chance that's going on with you too? Is the hunger sort of a sharp feeling? I've found prilosec helps with my "hunger" pangs alot.

eating fiber one fills me up with very few calories. even if you snack on it throughout the day, it wont do much damage/

It depends on what you eat. I would try to get my blood sugar on an even keel, and then you should be more able to restrict quantities. Fibre is excellent, but make sure you balance carbs with sufficient protein (in the same meal!), even if this means increasing fat, too. Have a look at Ian Marber`s books whcih I swear by! :-)

I know this probably sounds a little crazy BUT I drink chicken broth. yes, loads of sodium but I just drink extra water those days. For some reason the fact that it's warm and I have to eat it with a spoon subsides my hunger until I fix my next meal. However, I think hunger every 3-4 hours is a good thing , it means your metabolism is on fire!!

I realized the same thing. That I want to eat about every 3 hours whether I ate a lot or a little. So I do NOT just deal with the hunger. I eat a little bit every 3 hours or so. 2-300 calories every few hours made me just as full as 400 every few hours so I eat about 5-6 times a day. and it works!
