Default Dairy and Gluten Allergy

Hi there!

It's been awhile since I've posted. I was diagnosed with a dairy and gluten allergy in November and still haven't been able to just do it and get them out of my diet. Anyone else with these allergies? And any advice on how to kick myself in the butt?

Thanks!
Cort

Have you had a look at paleo or primal diets?

Paleo is (in short) no dairy, no grains. Worth a look for you, I think.

Well, basically, you should still be able to eat all types of meat, fish, veggies, fruits, nuts, and seeds... so it's not like you don't have any choices at all.

This also means you can have nut butters, almond milk, etc.

I'd go for raw nuts if you take them though...

And by the way, this may sound crazy... but if you're open to it, you might be interested in looking into some alternative therapy.

Although many would call it quackery, I've personally had some significant benefit from going to this lady who did 'applied kinesiology' and some other methods to treat allergies and intolerances.

I used to not tolerate gluten, but now I have no problem at all.

I think one of the things this lady did was something called NAET or something... (Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique). There's more like that around, but like I said, if you're open to it...

Just thought I'd mention it, because it did help me...

Otherwise, you can still take the foods mentioned above, at least, if you tolerate those well...

Good luck!!

Google GFCF diet or gluten free casein free diet. (Casein is the protein found in dairy products.) You will find a ton of resources, shopping guides and cook books! GFCF diets are commonly used by the parents of children with autism to improve the children's GI symptoms so there is a huge network of support for this type of diet.

Good luck. Keep us updated on how you are doing.

I don't eat dairy and I don't eat a lot of gluten. There are lots of good for you foods that don't have gluten in them, beans, veggies, fruits, etc. I know it may be hard adjusting but should be doable. I know of quite a few vegan (no animal products) gluten free people.
