I got bifocals today and so far I hate them. The frames are cuteness personified, but I can hardly see a darn thing. Will I get used to these? I hate all the head-tilting I have to do to simply try to read something, and I have no idea if I'll be able to see well enough out of the darn things to actually be able to drive (which is what I really need). And forget the computer--it's totally fuzzy. Can't see a thing on the computer screen.
Did you have this problem? Did you get to the point where you could see out of your bifocals? Or am I going to be very, very sorry that I paid all this money out for cute, worthless glasses?
I can't comment specifically to getting used to bifocals, but can comment on the need for them.
The ONLY thing I hate about the age I am now (50) is my dang vision. I wear contacts and noticed a few years ago that once I put my contacts in for the day, reading gets more difficult. Two different eye doctors have recommended NOT getting bifocal contacts as their patients overall have not done well with them and suggested other alternatives, such as a low powered contact lense in one eye with the "right" prescription in only one eye or readers over contacts as needed.
So right now it's readers over contacts. My friend who is a year older has chosen to avoid the bifocals by getting glasses that she puts on whenever she needs distance vision (like driving or when we were at theatre).
you know, I wore bifocals as a kid. I really don't remember at all what it was like but I bet you will definitely get used to them (and in the meantime, you'll be cute anyway because of the frames :wink: )
I think I actually am going to have to get some reading glasses like to wear on top of the contact lenses I already have in ... (+7 and +6.5) *sigh*

I wear bifocals now, have done for about umm 4 years, I can remember how awful they are when you first put them on but trust me you will get used to them, I don't know what I'd do without mine now! Keep wearing them and you'll thank yourself in the long run x
If it is REAL bad...you may want to go back to the eye place and make sure they are correct.
I am lucky enough to be able to wear mono vision contacts...one eye for up close and one eye for far away! They are AWESOME! I just bought bifocal glasses for the 1st time...and they work GREAT...from the day I put them on.
The funny thing is that I naturally do mono vision. I have one eye that is great for close-up and the other is great for far away. I used to have the same problem as caryesings, where I couldn't read when I had my contact (I only wear one) on. The doc changed my prescription and that problem is better, but I needed a pair of glasses for the times when I wasn't wearing a contact lens.
I'll keep trying them. I was wearing them watching TV last night and they were great. It's just the reading part that's really bad; I can find the "sweet spot", but I have to keep adjusting the paper and tilting my head and it feels so awkward!
