This is so good. I am having the yummiest asparagus omelet wrap. Just 200 calories....What are you having ?:T

03-05-2010, 09:22 AM
I had two servings of eggbeaters and 2 slices of whole wheat toast with .25 Tb margarine.

03-05-2010, 09:31 AM
same as pretty much every day. 2 lowfat nutrigrain waffles and 2 hardboiled egg whites.

Boring, but it works for me!

I'm doing an English muffin (the alternative em is only 90cals!), egg beaters and a slice of 98% ff ham & some WW yogurt.

Hmmm...I have a few bunches of asparagus in my fridge too and might have to try putting some in an omelet tomorrow! That sounds good :D

I had a turkey tomato and spinach wrap. Not necessarily a breakfast food, but it was good this morning. :)

03-05-2010, 10:13 AM
I had a slice of bacon quiche from last night. I used a modified recipe from a WW book and it was really good.

03-05-2010, 10:16 AM
I had breakfast dessert.

2 slices whole grain organic raisin bread, toasted
2 tsps natural organic peanutbutter (split between the bread)
2 tsps organic strawberry spread w/ fiber and w/o sugar (split between the bread)
1 banana, sliced and added to the toast
8 oz skim milk.

It's like a banana split on toast. I eat two pieces for breakfast or one for a snack when I'm craving something fruity and sweet. It's low fat, about 17 grams of protein, 1 serving whole grains, 2 servings of fruit and about 300 cals which is right in my range. Keeps me full for about 3 1/2 hours.

03-05-2010, 10:19 AM
I slice bread (70 cal) with 20 gm PB, 1 serving fiber one (60 cal) with 1/2 serving cinnamon life(60 cal), 1 handful blueberries, and 1/2 cup milk (50 cal). Coffee with the parisian almond creamer. Yum!

03-05-2010, 10:21 AM
Special k Red Berry and Low fat milk.

I am actually drinking 1% because that's what the sweetie bought when he did grocery shopping for me last week.

03-05-2010, 10:37 AM
Steel cut oatmeal with 2 T ground flax seed, stevia & 1/2 banana sliced in it. Super yummy and filling!

Thomas's Double Fiber English Muffin, 2 egg whites and 1/2 yolk. Keeps me full forever!

I found the cutest little pan at the grocery store the other day. It looks like a skillet but it's just big enough for about the amount of eggs above. So far it doesn't stick and is super easy to clean. I had been using the Big City Slider (laugh, go ahead it is funny) to make the eggs, but it eventually lost it's nonstick abilities. I still use it when others in the house want to join in. Either way, the egg cooks in the same amount of time as the english muffin toasts.

I can't eat anything heavy for breakfast but today my body is totally not cooperating so I'm going to see how I feel around lunch time. I'm hungry but can't eat, what is up with that.

03-05-2010, 11:36 AM
I just had a protein/fruit smoothie.

03-05-2010, 11:53 AM
Bummer. I was out of peanut butter-- threw off my breakfast entirely. So I had one slice of bread (100gms), but I skipped the usual peanut butter and banana. I thought if I got hungry between break and lunch I could eat the banana, but so far, I'm good.

I LOVE asparagus. We have a nice patch in the garden that I'm waiting so patiently for. When I see it start to come up I know the morel mushrooms are up...(about 8 weeks to go! :() The mushrooms and asparagus together make a delicious omelette...though I always eat the yolk too. Yummy.

Today I was craving something on the creamy side so I had a bowl of oatmeal with rasins, blueberries and stevia. 300 calories.

PS: TMI alert, but to you aspargus lovers, do you ever notice that your pee smells really odd after eating it? LOL or is it just me. ;)

Not just you, Lori. Your garden sounds wonderful already...mine is still covered in snow.

03-05-2010, 01:23 PM
I had a strawberry protein smoothie.

03-05-2010, 04:53 PM
I had the same thing I always do - 1 serving egg beaters, 1 serving special k protein plus (sometimes it's rice chex instead), 8 oz. milk, 8 oz. V8, 1 carbmaster yogurt from Kroger - 340 cal. total and my tummy is full until lunch

BeachBreeze2010 - it's ok, I cook my eggbeaters in my little sandwich toaster most of the time. If I fill one side of it then it's a single serving. I also have a tiny skillet though - a "one egg wonder" as it was labeled. My father has a cast iron version.

03-05-2010, 05:00 PM
I had an orange and yogurt. I usually eat a Nutrigrain bar every day, so today really shook things up! :P

03-05-2010, 05:18 PM
Quaker oatmeal squares and 1% milk.

Usually weekdays it is some form of cereal - bran flakes with a skosh of golean crunch, oatmeal squares, or oatmeal -- plus milk, and perhaps a low sodium V8 or fruit.

03-05-2010, 06:16 PM
Special K red berry and low fat milk.

I have seemed to be on a cereal kick lately.

03-05-2010, 08:30 PM
Today I had a PB&J larabar and green tea. Yesterday I had a sludge [smoothie] and green tea.

03-05-2010, 09:06 PM
toasted raisin English muffin with natural peanut butter and a clementine

03-05-2010, 11:14 PM
I had oatmeal with peanut butter and some splenda. I was hungry this morning(due to a different eating time), so I ate more than I usually do. But it kept me full till lunch at 1:30...and I'm still within my calories for the day.

I have an onion or wheat bagel with reduced fat cream cheese (apparently the amount I spread on is a lot less than the recommended 2 tbsp, so I just do that) and some kind of fruit, or an egg sandwich on a wheat bagel

03-06-2010, 12:04 AM
Some times I vary it but most of the time I just eat a cereal with low calorie soy milk. Lately the cereal I have been eating is Kashi's honey toasted oats. It's yummy. Sometimes I will add in a banana or strawberries to get a serving of fruit in.

03-06-2010, 12:21 AM
Weekday mornings I have:

4 oz wild blueberries (frozen, I heat them up a little in the microwave before adding other stuff)
4 oz plain nonfat yogurt
4 oz nonfat cottage cheese
0.5 oz ground flaxseed
0.25 tsp ground ginger

all mixed together in a big bowl. It's 200-something calories.

Weekend mornings I have:

3 eggs, poached or scrambled
1 slice homemade whole-wheat bread, toasted
Onions, spinach, other veggies tossed in if I've scrambled the eggs
Homemade sugar-free mocha

In the range of 400 to 500 calories. I savor my weekend breakfasts.

Here is a rather lengthy answer as to why/how asparagus makes yoru pee smell.

The Facts
Asparagus contains a sulfur-containing compound identified by scientists as methyl mercaptan. A colorless gas, this compound is also found in blood, feces, garlic, eggs, cheese and even skunk secretions. In fact, methyl mercaptan is one of the major contributors to bad breath and flatulence odors. In addition, another ingredient found in asparagus is asparagine. Present in foods like dairy products, seafood, poultry, fish and nuts, this amino acid is known to have a distinctive smell when heated. To metabolize both methyl mercaptan and asparagine, the digestive track must break these compounds down and it is this breakdown that's responsible for your urine's strange smell.
The Debate
Since both methyl mercaptan and asparagine are associated with the sense of smell, there is debate over which ingredient is actually responsible for the asparagus-urine phenomenon. Depending upon whom you ask, some scientists may blame it on the methyl mercaptan while others argue that asparagine is the cause for the odor. Some even think that it's the combination of both compounds. Regardless of the exact culprit, the reason why your urine smells after eating asparagus is simple: because of the way your body breaks it down.
Why Doesn't Asparagus Make my Urine Smell?
Asparagus is no stranger to debate and the disagreement over which specific ingredient causes urine to smell is not the only example. Because many people claim that, regardless of asparagus consumption, their urine does not smell, there are multiple theories regarding that as well. The first claims that everyone's urine is in fact affected by asparagus, but only about half of the population have the specific gene that is required to smell the change. On the other hand, the second theory states that only half of the world's population has the gene that's required to break down the compounds found in asparagus and, if the body doesn't break them down, no smell is emitted. Whichever reason is correct, for many people, asparagus will forever be known as the vegetable that makes your urine smell strange.
