Default I'm Angry, But The Scale Won't Beat Me

Today was my weekly weigh in and I was REALLY hoping for a 2lb loss to take me to 5st/70lbs, and ever closer to Onederland. Imagine my disbelief, then anger, then held back tears when I realised I've only lost a half pound this week
I was so upset and angry with myself and started having the usual panic that it's all over, I'll never lose anymore weight, and it's all going to start coming back on. I even considered missing my gym workout today and having a major sulk.
But luckily some higher power made me go and I ended up taking my anger out on the treadmill. I'm doing the C25K running program at the moment and yesterday ran 8mins twice which is the longest I've run so far. Today I was angry, super angry, so I started running and just kept going. In the end I did 20mins non-stop The last 3mins were very hard, but I was determined to finish and just kept saying, "scale/body, you're not going to beat me, I'm stronger and more stubborn than you".
I still feel really upset with the result on the scale, but I'm very proud of what I achieved in my run today and glad that I proved to myself that even if I can't get the scale to co-operate I can make progress on my fitness.
Here's hoping for a better weigh in next week or that poor treadmill is in for a serious pounding.

I am right there with you. This morning I lost nothing. I worked myself so hard yesterday at the gym, I don't get it. Its so hard to not be frustrated to the point of stopping all this, and then you think that will not get me any closer to my goal. I just have to keep on keeping on....

I know it's hard when the scale doesn't seem to reward you, but don't give up just because of that. There are SO many other reasons to keep going aside from the scale. You did a great thing by taking it out on the treadmill. Keep up with the running and keep taking your frustrations out there. Most of all, DON'T STOP! It WILL come off, even if if takes a little longer than we want it too.

S.A.S.H. is exactly right. You have to keep going. Learning to accept these times on the scale is part of the process. Keep it up and you will lose the weight!

I feel your pain! Lately it seems the weight refuses to budge! It's so frustrating specially when the week before it came off quickly... *sigh*

Don't give up- you can do this- I'm also really close to onederland and I swear the scale is just teasing me!

Wow, 20 minutes, that is great! You must really be toning. Are you taking your measurements too? Are you noticing a change in your body composition?

Worst case scenario, you never lose more than 1/2 a pound a week, you will be down 24 lbs in 12 months. That's 48 in two years AND 60 lbs down in 3 years. If you were to stop now, go back to your wicked ways (just kidding!) you'd stay at 205...Now wait a second!! I just checked your weight, you've lost 69 lbs!!! You must have had a plateau or a week with a tiny weight loss before??? How did you handle it?

Aren't our brains crazy things? You made such progress but your nasty inner voice is playing tricks on you! You ROCK! You've done great and have a great attitude!! Hang tough and your weight will be heading in the right direction (in a faster manner) in no time!!

half pounds add up too. Good for you for using that anger to push yourself instead of letting it defeat you.

A half a pound is two sticks of butter!!!

Remember - when you weigh it is one moment in time that is affected by water, food, hormones, biologicals, and more.

Don't let that scale mess with your head....you are doing well....carry on!
