Default What are your views on skinny jeans?

Hey everyone,

Just a quick question (er, maybe not), what are people's views of skinny jeans on differently-sized women?

I myself, see girls in white tank tops, skinny jeans, and flats, and think they look so cute and chic in them.

However, I'm not exactly small. I'm trying, trying, trying. I am rather pear-shaped, have big thighs, and am a size 8/M/L on my bottoms. Size 4-6/S/M on top. (There's a picture of me on the pic thread.) But I recently broke down, because there was a sale for $19 jeans at Old Navy. It's still on if anyone is interested. I don't know if I have the courage to wear them, but yeah, that's my story. I never want to seem like I've squeezed myself in clothes. But I do think skinny jeans look great with boots.

Anyway, what are your honest views of skinny jeans?

I think they look great on people who have the right shape for them - skinny or not. I am afraid I will never be able to wear them, though. My thighs/calves are just too big - they even seemed big when I was thin back in high school. I feel like they are ginormous! And I have a really hard time finding any jeans - the legs are always too tight while the waist is gaping because it is too big, especially on the styles out now.

For you at a size 8, though, I would think they would be fabulous!

If you can pull it off then go for it, you earned it! Personally I'm not a huge fan, I don't like clothes that hug me all over, it feels like I'm being strangled. I like flared legs or boot cut.

I agree. I tend to prefer boot cut jeans as well. I just like skinnies tucked into the boots. But that's the thing. Hahaha I don't know if I can pull it off. Oh well. . . .

Can you put them on and take a picture and post here? We'll tell you the truth! It's hard to say without seeing it. For the most part, I'm not a fan of how they look.

I love them. LOVELOVELOVE. But I'm short and they are the only kind of jeans that scrunches up on my ankles (reasonably cute look) rather than dragging along the ground and getting worn down... yes, that happened to me for the entire flare jeans era of the late 90s and early 00s...

I think you should wear what makes YOU feel good.

Personally, the only people I think look good in skinny jeans are very thin young gay boys.

I love skinny jeans, they are my wish item for when I lose more weight. I wear leggings now (finally!) and can't wait for the day when I can wear skinnies. There is a fashion blog called www.youlookfab.com and they have forums. Also look through the old blogs, the writer who is a stylist goes into length about how to wear skinny jeans, who can or can't wear them, what kind of shoes to wear with them, and lots of other great styling tips.

Even at size 14, I wore skinny jeans tucked into boots--I think the big shoes balance them out. One of my secret goals (that I don't know if I can achieve because I have an, *ahem*, shapely rear) is to be able to wear skinny jeans with heels like the chicks on House. SUCH a cute look!

I have found that boyfriend cut jeans give you some of the same attributes as skinny jeans (cute cuffs, shorter fit), but they look super cute on larger rears.

This post is timely. I was just flipping through a J. Crew catalogue that arrived the other day. And their pencil and matchstick jeans look so good, rolled once, with heels, as they advised in their styling tips. I want to get into a dressing room with a pair of these. But those girls look practically hipless.

I would kind of like to be able to walk again without my bootcut hems going whoosh, whoosh as they slap against each other. (Since I don't have thigh rub anymore, I'd like the sound to go away.)

I love skinny jeans tucked into boots or with a cute pair of flats. Boot cuts, just don't look right with flats, in my opinion. However, I'm not sure I can wear skinny jeans either. I have always carried weight in my thighs and feel like skinny jeans really accentuates that. Maybe when I'm a bit closer to goal, I give 'em a try, but right now, I'm sticking to my trouser jeans and bootcut styles.

I don't like the look of skinny jeans myself. They remind me of tights.

I have a short inseam so I like straight jeans.

I have a pair of hand me down skinny jeans from my mom - I think I like the look. Haven't decided yet.

I say if you like the way it looks on then you work it!
