Default Zumba

I have now been taking Zumba classes at the local YMCA. I have come to fall in love with the classes. I am not as coordinated at some of the ladies in the class but I am working on it. Has anyone else tried Zumba?

I tried it and I was terrible. I felt like I was just jumping around. My hips were sore the next day, though, so maybe it is a good workout.

I really like it but I love to dance. My hips and butt normally get sore after the class (took one today) Cant wait to go tomorrow.

I would love to try it! Does anyone know of a video? We don't have any classes around here for it.

I tried it after much encouragement from the instructor (who also teaches the water aerobics class I sometimes take) and actually really enjoy it! It's a nice break from the treadmill or spin class. I have fun and get a workout. I'm not that coordinated either, so I just make sure I never look at myself in the mirrors!

There are some on youtube. If you hunt for the special k ones, they aren't the greatest, but they are fairly easy for a beginner to follow. There are others on there as well that are more of a workout.

I do Zumba every now and then at my gym (I tried doing it every week but it was too much with everything else I do). It's great fun! I love bopping around and working up a sweat at the same time

I *heart* Zumba!! It's the only exercise class I've ever committed to and actually look forward to going to! You can order the DVDs from zumba.com (shipping to Canada is outrageous, so I haven't) and I'm pretty sure that's the only place you can get them, unless you try eBay.

The music is awesome (Pitbull, Shakira, Proyecto Uno, Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, salsa, merengue, samba) and my instructor keeps it fresh and has a great sense of humour; she doesn't take it personally if we get going on the wrong foot or if our arms are uncoordinated.

I used to do the zumba classes that were offered at my gym when I first started working out and I absolutely loved them, they were awesome and you burn so many calories! I haven't done it lately though because I am trying to change up my routine a bit!

I just wanted to add that I did a 60 minute zumba class today and burned 440 calories. For comparison purposes: 60 min. on the treadmill gets me 580-630 (depending on how hard I'm pushing); 60 min. on the elliptical gets me 520-600 (again, depending on how hard I'm pushing myself).
