G'day all,
My last week at work :hyper: . I am really looking forward to finishing stuff off at home, starting to pack and re do my nephew's website and get it up and running with all the new skills I have learnt in the Dreamweaver course.:genie:
We had a great weekend, we test drove a Mercedes SLK230 Kompressor :fr: :cp: :wizard: . We have a Landrover Diesel which is a good solid car but not exactly fast, the mercedes is just unbelievable, zooooom...............
We looked at the BMW Z3 and Alpha Spider but they are just not near as nice as the mercedes. The reason we are looking here in Sydney is because there is much more choice than in lil'old Adelaide but whatever we buy it will be garaged for most of the time whilst we are away.
DH is in Melbourne, left last night, he rang this morning to see how I slept and mainly to tell me that he was up half the night thinking about what we should do:chin:
Once we told the salesman that we could be interested, he immediately dropped the price $2500. As we drove off and were but 5 minutes on the road our mobile phone rang, the salesman offering a further $2500 off the price if we would decide that day:joker: Amazing! whatever we decide, it was fun having the test drive.
Of course I cannot remember what anyone wrote, the one thing that stuck in my mind was your story Peggy about your son. I have never heard of that happening, I hope he is allright.
I am finding it reasonably easy sticking to being OP. It is almost a week since I started to get really serious again, lets hope the scales will reflect that:queen:
Have a great day/night all
Cheers
Maria

MOrning everyone, My son is doing well. His doc is treating his knee with therapy to see if that works. He is on crutches and has one of those leg braces. He is able to go to work if he sits. He works for physical therapy docs and is being treated for free and has all the therapy equipment at his disposal. We had to go cut his grass Friday. He just moved and has a huge yard which got a lot bigger when they had it surveyed for the fence. It was hot. I helped and did some of his laundry. He does his and she does hers. Modern marriages. Today we have to go pick him up and take him to their fertility doc. She is meeting him there since it is too far for her to leave work and make the trip. They are going to start in vitro. Nothing else has worked so far. I will be glad when he is able to drive again. Maria you must be so happy to be going "home" again even if it just for a little while. I am happy for you. :) A new Mercedes sounds nice. Hope you get it. Maybe they will keep lowering the price. I was just told last night that my good friends dh has less than 2 weeks to live. His lung cancer is in his brain now. It is so sad. I have lots to do today - have a good day everyone,

Maria: Mercedes sounds nice. I looked at the BMW Z3. Really want one, but I dont know. Course they are going away and being replaced by the Z4 I think it is. By the time I make up my mind it will be to late :twirly:
Peggy: So glad your son is ok. Wish my DH would do his own Ironing
Pretty funny how they each do their own. So sorry to hear about your friend.
Off to go back to bed. I stayed home today. Came down with a doozy of a cold.
Later :moo:

G'day all,
A very wet and miserable day here today. I bought the book 'We were the Mulvaneys' on the way to work. Anyone read it?
Peggy so sorry to hear about your friends dh. Life is so short and unexpected things can happen so quickly, more reason to enjoy life while you can.
Good to hear your son is recovering. Modern marriages, what can I say....when ds and his then girlfriend of 6 years stayed with us in Sydney some 6 months ago, I really couldn't understand how they each had their seperate tasks. One thing that really stood out was the making of the beds in the morning. The spare bedroom had two single beds and girlfriend would make hers but not his and vica versa:chin: I think it is good that chores are shared but......
Lily I agree that the Z3 is a fun car but I worry about soft tops and how much time before the fun is worn off? At least with the mercedes you have the best of both worlds, a sedan (that I really want) and a convertible that dh wants.
We haven't heard from Glenda for a while, hope all is well. How are your eyes Ann??
Supposed to have been my last week at work but they have asked if I will come in next Monday and Tuesday.
We are doing our advanced 4x4 wheel driving course next weekend so I really didn't want to have to work on the Monday but alas, I feel I would be letting them down if I didn't come in.
Cheers all

Hi Everybody
We had a nice evening at our friends on Saturday night for dinner and then on Sunday we went to the lake. Our little Princess had her "grown ups" birthday party at 2:00 so we took our gifts out to her. She quite enjoyed everything, even the clothes. :gift:
The Barbie Airplane we gave her was a really big hit. It comes with little trays for the "pasengers" even tiny little ice cubes. :)
Maria my friend that I spend time with at the lake had a Mercedes sports car for a very long time, and loved it. This year she got a Lexus sportscar that has a hard top that folds back and a Lexus sedan. She usually drives the sedan but sometimes if she is just going to lunch and not hauling a whole bunch of stuff to the lake or getting groceries she takes the sportscar. She always called the Mercedes her baby car, so her husband got her plates for the car that read "BB Car". She likes the Lexus as well as she did her Mercedes. Do you like the Lexus? Peggy my dil usually does all the laundry but my son is responsible for doing his own ironing too. Sorry to hear about your friends, that's so sad, for both of them. Lily I hope that you will soon be feeling better, and back to your usual self. I was hoping we would have heard from Glenda by now. She must still be having trouble logging on since they switched servers. Talk to you all soon. :)

Monday again, and the last week of August:cry: Time just seems to fly by. It still is hot here, but that won't last for too much longer.
Peggy glad to hear your son wasn't seriously hurt. We had a bad lightening storm here on Fri, lightening hit a couple of trees in the city and a golf course shelter. No one was seriously hurt. Today another brief storm swept through and hit the chimney on an old church and started a little fire... did some damage. I really do get nervous when you can hear the crackle before the boom. :yikes:
Lily sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Hope the cold is short lived. The instructors at the fitness facility are always checking on our form when we lift weight, and even when stretching. Even when I think I am doing it right... I get corrected.
Maria.. looks like you will be driving a Mercedes real soon.. hope it works out for you, especially when they keep dropping the price. Before you know it you will be sleeping in your own little bed at home.:dz:
Karen Our WW is downstairs in a Motor Hotel... and there is no handicap access to it either. Not good. One friend of ours who has had knee replacements has a very hard time getting to the meeting, and I am sure a lot of others have been discouraged too.
.. Lucky you... redecorating.
On Staturday we went to the casino and lost our obligatory $20.00 each... we never know enough to stop when we are ahead.. We stayed for the entertainment and had a nice evening... my brother and SIL joined us.
Sunday was one of those days when all I did was eat, watch movies and stayed prone for most of the day... once in awhile I need to do that.
My DD is on holidays this week so we went over today and I helped her go through boxes of maternity clothes. Her friends gave her so many things, but my DD is petite and mostly everything was way too big. I took pity on the pile of laundry and did all her ironing too. She was amazed that I undo the buttons on the men's shirt collar and iron and then re-button the collar. :spin: ... they do their own ironing when absolutely necessary, and on a "need to wear" basis... what can we say, they are the new generation.
They bbq a lovely meal for us... it was a nice day.
Will see you tomorrow Slavika... what's the :chef: :cookie: ?
Bye all...

I am laughing - all the kids must be alike to some degree. Maria my son and dil don't make their bed-at least not that I have ever seen. We told them that if they ever do have kids that they might not be able to find them. Lily hope that you are feeling better. Summer colds always seem to be miserable. Trudy you are a big spender like we are when we go to a casino. I am amazed at watching what some of the people put in those machines. It is so nice here today. The humidity is gone and hopefully we will get some rain. I want to move some plants around and the ground is like a rock. I made a stepping stone yesterday out of china plates. I have to grout it yet. If it works I am off to the thrift stores for more plates. Of course my dh said not to walk on it barefoot. I told him it is for decoration. Men have no imagination sometimes. Missing Glenda, Hope she finds her way here. See you all later,

Missed my pool exercises this a.m. Thunder doesn't mix with pool exercises.
Peggy: Your son really had a scary experience. Lightning is not our friend. We found when we moved here (after) that we are in the lightning capital of the U.S. It is scary when the flash and boom come almost together. Glad he is doing well with the therapy.
I think I must be a part of the younger generation:D: as I don't iron unless it is absolutely necessary. i make it a point to buy no-iron clothes. I hate ironing with a passion. When I was working, and raising my kids it seemed there was always sprinkled ironing in the refrigerator. :p
Lily: Hope you are feeling better. Summer colds are the pits.
Maria: A mercedes sounds great. We are always thinking about what we would have 'if' we win the lotto. I vote for a BMW and my dh wants a Lincoln. But now we settle for a Ford Windstar van. You must be on pins and needles to get home. Is it definite that you will be going to Bombay next? What kind of plans can you make before you go?
Trudy-Slavika: How was WW today. Hope you are all smiles:) and that you had a good meeting. It is so 'cool' that you two can go together. We have a group here that go together and support each other, and then after our early meeting on Sat. a.m. we all go for breakfast.:ink: And we keep track or each other. One of the gals rides bike with me every evening that we can.
Glenda: Hope you are settling in okay with the new boss, and that all is well with you. Miss you. We went to see My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and loved it. So funny and what a joy to find a nice movie for a change.
Karen: hang in there with all the redecoration. It will be all worth it when it is finished. Hope you have found a better meeting place, with handicap access. It sure does make a difference.
check out these sites. Some interesting recipes, and some inspiration as well. www.darleneelizabeth.com and www.debbiescorner.com
"see" you later. Ann
p.s. The eyes are doing great. A little morning puffiness, but that is soon gone. I'm going to like the new look, and I certainly like the ability to read without the "eyelash curtain"

Maria: Thats what I was thinking about to. Dont really know what Im gonna end up with. Really would like a convertible. But they really arent pactical.
Slavika: That Barbie airplane sounds adorable. I can image why she loved it. All those extras goodies :) Glendas problem could also be that her ISP hasnt updated the DNS servers. Sometimes they are slow at it. Dont know why. Hopes she gets here soon.
Trudy: Your fitness center sounds great. Mine dont do that. They want big $$ to help you. Would be nice if they did with out signing something. You spend like I do when I gamble. SOunds like you had a fun time!
Ann: Great sites! Been to debbies corner before but not the other.
Peggy: The steeping stones sound pretty. You are so creative!
Best get to work.

G'day all,
What a terrific lot of posts to read this morning:cp:
Peggy what a great idea and what a great use of plates. You are very creative:idea: I agree it is comforting to know that our children are not unique:D
Slavika Your 'princess's' birthday party sounds like it was a great success. I haven't seen a Barbie Airplane but then I guess it is not something I go looking for:D Sounds cute.
Something else that is very cute is a Lexus but the price :censored: We are still debating as to what to do, main reason being that we will probably only be home for 3 to 4 weeks and then we would have two cars garaged whilst we are away.
If an opportunity comes along that is just too good to pass up, we will go for it in the meantime we will just dream on.
Trudy another big spender, I don't even allow myself $20, I just find it a waste, dh on ther other hand really enjoys it but allows himself $50 and then walks away. He keeps trying to convince me that it is fun, but I can only see the fun when you win and of course that doesn't happen. The Sydney Casino is very close to where we live but we have only been a couple of times. I am awe struck by the amount of money that people bet.
Ann good to hear your eyes are just about healed. I will have a look at the websites you posted sometime today.
You made me laugh about the ironing, I don't mind ironing (well sort of, I love the results :) )but did get a bit peeved when dh complained ( once only ;) ) many years ago that there were no ironed hankies:censored: He has now adjusted to a folded hanky if I haven't had a chance to iron:fr:
Nothing is definite in my life Ann but at the moment Bombay looks like a pretty good bet.
Weather is much better today and the forecast is for a pleassant weekend with temperatures in the mid twenties, should be great for our Advanced 4x4 wheel drive course.
HAve a great day all,
Cheers

Hi Everybody
Trudy and I went to WW together and later came back here for tea with Dee and another friend. Trudy was the smart gal, she managed to maintain her goal weight. I like to have her with me at WW, she's my personal cheering section :cp: and I did manage to lose 2 lbs this week. :dancer:
OOPS, DH, wants to look up something on the computer for a class he has been taking so, I will talk to you all tomorrow.

Ann, glad that your eyes are better. I don't like to iron but like the look so I do it. Just not hankerchiefs. Like Maria I haven't seen the Barbie airplane. What doesn't Barbie have? Slavika, congrats on the loss. It is always nice to have a cheering section. Maria if you go to Bombay do you have any idea how long you will be there? Lily get the convertible and enjoy it.

G'day all,
Fantastic Slavika 2 lbs loss:cp: I am happy to say that I have lost a little under 2 lbs this week, so going the right way.
I don't know if I ever said the reason I am leaving work but it is because they are re-locating to another address and my services are not needed at the new address.
Today and tomorrow there is a lot packing and I am actually busy!
I will have to make it short, see ya all

..... and I sat on a big wad of gum... I didn't notice it till I got home and I had to scrape it off with a knife. The movie was good though... saw Sum Of All Fears. There is a local theater that shows the movies after the big movie-plexes are through with them. $2.50 per person.. and every so often they put out 2 for $3.00 coupons. :cloud9: ahh, we love a deal.
Contratulations :goodvibes to Slavika and Maria for losing 2 lbs.. hope you have another good week.
Peggy I like that idea of the plates for stepping stones. Where do you come up with so many good ideas? You are one crafty person.
Lily.. how's the cold?
when I met my hubby he had a yellow convertible.. I just hated it. When he would pick me up, he would have to put the top up or I just wouldn't go. Now this was waaayy back in 1963 and we had these big teased hairdo's ... once the car would get going, the wind would whip my hair straight up :fr: I can remember going out with him and arriving at our destination looking like someone pulled me through a knot hole backwards...:faint: .. not a pretty sight. He had to sell the car
Well, I'm tired... :tired: .. good night all..

Wow, girls, it has really taken me an awful long time to get this right. I only came up for air the last week or so and didn't know how to get on here and then, of course, had forgotten username and password, so I just got the information today.
My job has just been crazy. It is so hard learning so many new things at this age. My new supervisor is so computer-knowledgeable. We can't do anything the old-fashioned way anymore, so my brain is so addled with all the new information. I haven't had time to read much but will from now on. I think the only thing I remember is that Maria is looking at a fancy new car and maybe moving. Ann doesn't have an eyelash curtain anymore and loved the Greek Wedding movie. It has finally come to our town and is moving up in the ratings, only by word of mouth.

Hi Everybody
My brother is 60 yrs old and when he was 50 he had a heart attack. A couple of days ago he was experiencing chest pains so his wife took him into the hospital. Yesterday he had angioplasty done to three of his arteries and then they put in stents. One artery was completely blocked and two were more then 50% blocked. Everything went well and hopefully he will be home within the next day or so. :)
It's such a worry when someone you love is not well, but I feel better now that the procedure is over and done with.
Glenda nice to see that you found your way back to us, but sorry to hear that you are working so hard. :yikes:
Trudy When I was young and single I used to have dreams of "a boyfriend" having a convertible and me driving around in it with my hair FLOWING out behind me. So the first time I did get to go in a convertible I wore a kerchief so that MY hair would not be blown all over the place. :?:
Maria has DH had any confirmation as to his next move? I guess you are almost finished working, and looking forward to spending some time at home. :cb:
Lily I hope your cold is all gone now. Are you and DH still thinking of a holiday in Hawaii this year?
Talk to you all soon.

The last working Friday for this person has come around:dancer:
I have just found out that our computers are going to be turned off in 10 minutes so I had better make it very short.
Off on our advanced 4x4 wheel drive course this weekend than still working Monday and Tuesday and then that is it:genie: :cloud9: :wizard:
I have to just quickly say what a lucky girl you were Trudy , no one with a convertible ever asked me out, my dream was always to be sitting there with hair flowing etc (like Slavika ) but it always remained a dream until possible now :D when dh has no hair at all and mine is very short. :D We can just pretend!
See ya soon
Cheers

Hi: My experience with a convertible was early on in my first marriage, when we had one. We went on a trip and our daughters rode in the back seat, and no kerchief, as they wanted their hair to 'flow in the breeze'. But the problem was when we arrived, I've never seen such tangles:yikes: :fr: And of course much screaming and crying as I tryied to brush them out. I really wanted to just give them both a hiarcut.:D :smug:
Maria: Hope your 4x4 training goes well. Only two more days as a working girl. Then home. But do you have any idea how much time you will be able to spend at home?
Glenda: So glad you have been able to let us know how you are doing. Sorry it has been so much frustration, but 'this too will pass'
Trudy: Hope I can do as well as you and Slavika at weigh-in on Sat. I think I have rid myself of those extras I put on when dh was cooking.
Slavika: Glad things are going well with your brother. Isn't it wonderful what can be done now. It wasn't so many years ago that none of those treatments were possible. And it is a worry when someone you love has such serious problems. Those are the times to turn everything over to God.
Hi Lily: hope you are feeling better.
Hi Karen: Hope you are about finished with the redecorating, so you can enjoy it. Did you find a new meeting place?
I've sort of started a new project doing some research on my ancestry. Found some names on old census reports and hope I can find some other interesting stuff. I'm so sorry that I didn't find out all this stuff while my parents were living. Then I'd have something more to go on. But it is interesting and also time consuming.
See you tomorrow. Ann

It was the usual shopping day with my Mom. (still doing that) However, today my DD joined us for lunch at our regular dining spot.. :cbg: After we took Mom home DD and I went shopping...:smoking: We got her some really nice maternity clothes and of course something for the baby. Since her DH went golfing after work, she stayed and had din dins with us and didn't leave till 8:30. :)
Slavika I sure hope your brother is able to leave the hospital soon. What a scare you all had. It's a good thing he got to the hospital when he did.
Men.. guess what mine tried to get away with last night. After the movie the four of us went out for coffee. My DH ordered a "dutchie" (are we all familiar with the yeast dough, with raisins, deep fried and sugar coated?). I was busy talking and didn't notice that he also took 3 little containers of butter and then he cut the dutchie into 3 parts and was spreading butter on them. By the time I noticed he had eaten 1/3... now this man takes cholesterol pills and complains they cost him $3.50 per day. As I snatched the other butter containers from his hot hands I asked him why he just didn't shoot himself through the heart and get it over with.
Good to see you back GLenda. Sure hope you will have time to check in here every day.
Maria Can't believe the job is finished with. I think you rather enjoyed it though, and it kept you out of trouble. What next?
Ann Good luck on Sat weigh-in. It's only now that I really listen when my Mom talks about the past. When I was younger I wasn't interested.
:grouphug: Hope you all had a great day too.. bye bye

Hmm men are so dumb sometimes. Trudy, mine takes cholesterol medicine too. But he still eats lots of cheese. About a week before a dr apt he cuts back. How stupid is that? I not sure what a dutchie is, but it does sound good and I think I want one. Are you having fun buying baby clothes? They have such cute things now. My son and dil had to go see a movie today on in vitro. Slavika hope your brother has a good recovery. That is a scary thing to go through. I think you are supposed to take 2 aspirin if you think you are having a heart attack. Ann my sil has been working on a geneology backround too. I just saw it and she had me a year older. I had to set her straight. :D I have a convertible story. My son has a red 94 Mustang convertible that is in perfect condition. He only drives it on weekends and keeps it in his grampa's garage. He had here last week and somehow it jumped out of gear and rolled the driveway [a hill] and hit the telephone pole across the street. It isn't very pretty now. It is amazing that it didn't hit a car or a person. It is now in the car hospital. When I had mine I might have had flowing hair but it always seemed dirty from flowing in the wind. Have a nice weekend. It is a holiday weekend here in the States-Labor Day. Peggy

Trudy: Loved the convertible story :) Agree with Maria, i always dreamed of having a date with a convertible to :) Cold is finally getting better, but its still around. Bet you are having fun buying baby clothes!
Slavika: WTG on the loss! Sorry to hear about your brother. But hes on the mend now which is good! Hope he gets to come home soon. Im sure it was pretty scary for you.
No We decided not to go again. Need to save some $ so hopfully next year. This year we are just gonna drive up to Washington and Oregan and see some sites there.
Ann: your convertible story was to funny to. Maybe I dont want one, hum have to think about it. Mt hair is still long so I dont want to have those problems. I have always want to find out things on my ancestry. My grandpa did quite a bit which was interesting. But he never did complete it.
Peggy: Your DH is to funny. Does no good to quit 1 week before seeing the Dr. Wonder what men think some times. My goodness those pictures were awesome. Thanks for the link.
