I don't know, but it just sounds like a very good way to destroy your body's metabolism, amongst other negative effects. Also, are you sure that a lot of the thin celebrities do this? It doesn't sound like something that is sustainable and very bad, especially, for someone with a history of diabetes because the blood sugar would drop very quickly. I would think that the metabolism slow down so much that the only weight loss that would result would be from water weight and/or muscle loss (the body is starving and, thus, tries to eat its own muscle). Anyway, it sounds like a horrible, horrible idea and I'm really glad to know that you're not considering it.
