With the Valentine's Day Challenge coming to a close in less than a week, I'd like to see if anyone would be interested in doing a challenge for the first day of Spring - Saturday, March 20th! If so, please join!!! :D

Hopefully many join in on this and we can start chatting it up in here with words of encouragement!

I'd like to try and lose 10 lbs by then...and it seems doable. My issue with these challenges is that I generally overshoot my ability...so this time I'm trying to keep it simple and keep my goal at something I can achieve.

I total blew the V-day challenge.. fell off the wagon and was hit by the cart!

I achieved my last goal and lost 10lbs before Valentines Day :)

I'm getting closer to the weight I'd like to maintain, and I'm purposefully slowing down my weight loss a bit to start making my maintenance routine a habit. I'm aiming for 1lb/week from now on. Just focusing on toning up!!

I'm in!!! My current weight is 173 and I'd like to be down to 165 by then. I'd like to be running a 12 minute mile by then also in preparation for the 5k race I'm registered for in April.

I'm so in! I need a little extra motivation to get me moving! I'm going a little bit ambitious with the way my body is currently giving up fat, but in reality as long as I get my booty out of the 220's, I'm going to be a happy camper!

This may be easier said than done since I will be going on a school trip to europe for ten days.. so i definately plan on enjoying the food there that i would like to experience (like i'm going to go to belgium and not eat chocolate and real fries.. ha! who would i be kidding? :P), but also in a tough situation where many of our meals will be provided for us, and I will have to eat what they serve, which will most likely not be healthy. So.. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't gain that week and just maintain. Anyway, my hope is that this challenge will help me work extra hard before and after the trip so that I keep moving forward and give up :)

I'm in! My challenge for feb was to just get into the 170's! Thats 7 lbs away...I dont think that I'll make that goal ;C (although I have been doing pretty good all week). I HAVE to get into the 170's soon.

For this spring challenge:

I saw that someone else had posted that they usually tend to "overshoot their ability" when making goals for challenges. I do the same thing. I'm setting my goal to a loss of 10 lbs by March 20. I think that is probably do-able. This will be my first challenge on 3FC. Good luck to everyone.

Well, -1 lb this week! I did get down to 196.8, but didn't eat very well over the weekend. Weekends are ALWAYS ALWAYS hard for me (well, the whole week is hard, weekends are just harder, haha). Does anyone else struggle over the weekends?

Maybe we can make a day during the wknd to check in & talk about what's been hard/easy? Idk, just need some accountability I guess....

carissa - I used to have problems eating OP for the weekend until I joined the V-day challenge, lol. They put WI on Sunday... and well I didn't want a horrible WI every week so I had to teach myself to pay attention and take it easy. I have been wanting to move my WI day, but I think it's better for my eating and such if I leave it. :lol:

Last night we were trying to think of a reward if we both hit our goal before Spring. The best ideas we came up with were a new set of flatware for the kitchen LOL. Hopefully just the idea of letting each other down will be more than enough motivation to not let it happen! :carrot:

Like last week, I was either 223 or 225. Never 224, not 222, not 226. The week before I was 225 or 227. I would just love to skip the whole 223 and 221 drama and just get straight to 219 and 217. Lower would be better ;) But we'll get there.

Wednesdays are my usual weigh in day, so here's my first weigh in for this challenge.

I'm still in the first couple weeks of my weightloss overall, so I'm sure that's why I'm losing a lot to begin with, but it sure does help my confidence that I'll be able to really do this!

missita - Good job! Mine at the beginning went pretty fast too, but it was a great feeling!

kuhrisuh - Thank you for agreeing! We are going to Houston.. its nothing too fancy, but they have a lot more to do than the Beaumont area. We are going to the Melting Pot which is a fondue restaurant. They have one in Austin and we just found out Houston had one too. Its so awesome!

Then we are going to Ikea. LOVE That place! He said its funny how we are going for an anniversary trip then going shopping for furniture.. I said so what! I like new furniture. Haha. There are some other stops we are making, but its just a fun trip to get away! Without the three dogs! We have to get a sitter.. :)

shortandfluffy, that sounds like so much fun! They have a Melting Pot in oklahoma city as well (I have family there) and my aunt went and took pictures of EVERYTHING because it was all so cool. Ha ha!! I hope you both have a great time!! :)

Hmmm...I had a big week this week. 3.1lbs!? I didn't change my plan at all, in fact, I cheated more than normal on the weekend. I did start weight lifting everyday for about 20 min, but I don't think it was enough to burn off cheat calories. I was kind of plateauing for the last few weeks, maybe this was my whoosh. So much for slowing my weight loss down! So I think I'm going to lower my goal to 145lbs which was my original final goal weight. So that'll be a good milestone to get to :)

Either my scale is broken or I'm having my "whoosh" too! I weighed in 5 times this morning because I was in such disbelief. I was 193.8 the first two times and 192.8 the last three times. AAAaaaahhhhh I hope that's right!! I'll take EITHER ONE of those numbers!

I weighed in and I'm 188 this week! -sigh- I can never have a steady weight loss. I have been working out all week too. I dont think I have went over 1800 cals everyday. blah I dont understand weight loss at all.

MKendrick - I had a bad week last week (had Chinese food 2 days in a row) and drank 2 glasses of wine. I had been stuck going back and forth between 195.5-197.5 all week and then dropped down to 195 even and now 194.5. I think every now and then your body needs a little junk in order for it to start working again. :)

I know FOR ME, what helped when I was stuck at 199 was changing things up. I started working out more and doing different kinds of workouts than usual. And I also changed my calorie intake... I mean, it's hard to make DRASTIC changes all the time, but adding variety into things helped for sure, IMO.

We were talking about this over the in the weekly chat not too long ago. Some people up their calorie intake a little bit just to see if there will be a change, some people up their intake only a FEW days a week as well. I think it's really something you have to experiement with along with exercise.

Upping calorie intake for a couple of days seems like it re-vamped your body! congrats on that loss!

I'm another one that seemed to be revamped by junk, lol.

I have been pretty much on plan for the last few weeks, and I was seeing 1lb losses. Which is awesome, don't get me wrong, slow stead and healthy. But this weekend I had about 5 Jager bombs (lol...), a Hardees sausage biscut (590cal!) and some other junk. I was not looking forward to weigh in. I was really surprised when I had a 3.1lb loss.

Your body WANTS to maintain. That's why I stayed right around 183-185 for months of eating 3000-4000 cal/day. My body was used to the routine and had adjusted itself to burn that much. If I ate 1100cal for months, I would eventually start maintaining. Our bodies are complex and they want to be in equilibrium and maintain. When we mix the system up, that's when we start seeing changes.

I know FOR ME, what helped when I was stuck at 199 was changing things up. I started working out more and doing different kinds of workouts than usual. And I also changed my calorie intake... I mean, it's hard to make DRASTIC changes all the time, but adding variety into things helped for sure, IMO.

Stay strong - you can't fail if you don't quit!
Can't remember who told us that saying.. but it's a good one!

Awh! thanks for the encouragement! ; D I think I might experiment with weighing myself daily for a while, just so I can get a feel of all the different weight fluctuations my body goes through. I can't quit now...I feel too healthy and much better about myself anyways now that I care about my body.

Oh and I bought a spaghetti squash that I'm going to make for dinner. yay!!

I'm fluctuating so much right now, it's a different weight every morning, but it doesn't seem to go down. Did a week of slightly less than 1300cals per day...and nothing :( So this week should average at 1500 per day, but every day has been very different as I'm trying to keep my body guessing. I'll do an hour at the gym later and go for a longer walk than usual, maybe that'll help. Really hope there'll be a loss on Sunday! :)

This week I have started to cut out all added sugar to my diet, but didn't start until Wednesday. I have also started tracking every calorie and taking a picture of everything I eat. I worked out every day except yesterday. I lost 3 pounds!

Thanks. Cutting out the sugar is hard, but right now it is what I need. It is only day 3, and I am sure it will get harder before it gets easier to resist. A blanket NO to all sweets is the best way for me to stay in check with my calorie goal. I just don't want to let myself down.

Congrats on your 3 lb loss too! Our bodies are crazy sometimes, aren't they?

Everyone's doing so well. I'm glad to have joined this group. My weigh-in is Sunday so I don't know how I've done yet. I feel very good though!

This week I've decided I'm going to really reduce the amount of red meat I eat from now on to at most twice per week and 0 times per week if I can do it. Also, I'm giving up refined sugars slowly. I still have one or two pieces of candy every now and again, but it's much better than how I used to be.

I've also been very good with writing in my fitness journal. I find that I do much better when I'm writing regularly. I think it comes from reflecting on the changes I'm making and keeping my commitment fresh.

I've used about every ounce of self control I have this weekend. I'm proud to say that despite all the temptations - people eating mcdonalds, whataburger, sonic, etc - that surrounded me, I have been perfectly on plan! Today, when I went with my boyfriend to get sonic, I was planning on getting just a few :rolleyes: things that would be within my calories... but I gave myself a stern talking to and got only a medium sweet tea instead (180 cals). Rather than sneaking bites of his reese's blast, I'm having a 40 cal valentines sucker.

Tomorrow is weigh day and I'm excited/nervous. Hope everyone is doing well & that you're all having a great weekend! :)

I've had a bad weigh-in this morning, 182.8.... I was not happy at all, but I think it's to do with TOM that's a week early for some reason. So I'll just carry on with my calorie experiment and track even more carefully in case the problem is to do with lack of accuracy. Got a really cute angled measuring cup yesterday, so not even a tiny amount of skim milk will go unmeasured in my tea anymore.

Well, I disobeyed one of my own rules and weighed mid-week. I just hate seeing little numbers. I lost .4lbs since Thursday, which is great and all, but then I'll have another little number on my "official" weigh in. I dunno, my mind plays too many tricks on me with fluctuations....I REALLY need to just weigh in once a week.

mkendrick, I feel exactly the same way. I've decided that I'm making it mandatory that I only weigh in once a week. It's necessary to keep me from getting distracted from my goals.

Anyway, it looks like I gained one pound this week and I can't really say I understand it. I haven't been off plan eating. I was sick the week before and just started my exercise again this week, so I was a bit sore, but I'm not sore at all this morning. I'm not going to let it slow me down though. I know what I'm doing is right and I'll see a change next week.

How funny, I'm on my TOM too! I do the same exercises that I normally do. If I'm feeling particularly crampy, I try to do some stretching exercises aside from my normal workouts though... I'm *temporarily* up a pound from lovely TOM, but it's helping me to be VERY good and OP with my eating (exercise is no problem for me to keep up with ;) )... so I'm hoping for the whoosh when it's over! Do you do your normal exercises Carissa?

Weeellllll, I actually gained a little. But, it doesn't concern me. I had a strange whoosh last week (going from 153.6 down to 149.7...wtf??), so I just bounced back a bit. Still averaging 1.3lbs/week. Not bad when I think about it like that, but nobody wants to GAIN anything ever, haha. I think I'm definitely at the point where my weight loss slows down to get rid of these last 10lbs.

It's crazy how so many of us are on TOM right around now! ha ha!

Just a 1 pound loss this week. I spent 2 days at the beach in Clearwater Florida and 2 days over my calorie goal. I got back on track right away, and stayed on the low side of my calorie goal the rest of the week and upped the intensity on my exercise. 1 pound lost is better than nothing!

yeah they have pavillions/"houses" for all the countries, and you can go party with the countries and people there.. on top of that, there are streets closed downtown at our huge tourist areas for people to walk around on the streets.. there's light shows at night time, at like 4 different locations (all different types too!) and then there's huge screen tvs scattered at a lot of venues for people to watch the events with other people or just watch at home!
it's awesome.. they've provided a lot of free stuff to do (also a ZIPLINE!) but the free stuff sometimes has huge lineups.. oh well!

I'm late but I want to join this challenge bc March 21 is the 1 year anniversary of the start of this journey for me, and I want to update my goal pics and have them be the best they can be. I don't have a specific number in mind bc I bounce around so much day to day that it's a bit futile to pick a number, but when I get back in my goal bikini for the pic, I really want to see a difference from last October, when I hit goal.

Welcome forest!

Hi ladies, it looks like everyone is doing really great! :)

I am a little bummed because I am up like 1.2 lbs up on the scale this morning. I have been OP with my food and just started working out again last night (after about 3 weeks with no work out), so I'm hoping maybe it's just my muscles retaining water, and that once my body gets used to my work outs again that it will go away. We shall see...

fashinjunkie09, I started working out, actually doing cardio, and I noticed a jump in weight also. If your muscles are sore, they have lactic acid in them, that will cause water retention. I was back on track this week :)

learned in a biology class once, that lactic acid buildup is from a good workout (you were right on that part) and one way to get rid of it is to stretch before AND AFTER! real good though. that way you can get to the gym again the next day with hardly any sore muscles (lactic acid buildup causes sore muscles)

hence why hockey players go workout with a bit of cardio and stretching after a long game... so they can get right back into it the next day!

Ok so I'm not off to a great start but it's a definite improvement over how I have been. Hopefully my weight will be under 134 at the gym this afternoon, but I'm not holding my breath. Last night I had a major chocolate craving and caved to it, and just ate way too much candy. It didn't put me over calories for maintenance, but certainly did for getting back to 130-133. I wish I could say today will be better, but I'm going out to eat tonight for a special occasion. I will not use that as a license to binge, however.

mkendrick, I know you are right so I'm going to ride it out but I'm hoping it goes away soon. How long was it before your weight was back on track? Hopefully not more than a week. I need a loss on Monday!

missy, thanks for the advice about stretching I prob don't do enough of that especially before so I'm going to try that tonight and see if it gets any better. And way to go on the loss you're going to reach your goal in no time!

forest, don't get too down about the candy! You are still really close to where you want to be and I'm sure you'll get back there in no time!

I'm sorry your not doing so great Snow, just keep at it you can do it! And there's no shame in changing your goal, I changed mine too after I realized I wasn't going to lose 10 lbs in 4 weeks.

SnowWolf, I'd be very pleased with progress if I were you. You've lost a good chunk, and you're close to your challenge goal :) Way to go!

I have been totally sporadic with my weigh ins the last two weeks. I was in a mini-plateau, hovering between 150.5 and 149.5, so I started weighing everyday. Then that started to bum me out, so I didn't weigh on my official weigh in day (yesterday). But I weighed today, and I have hopefully finally broken through that rut.

i've been pushing myself with the exercise the last couple of weeks. doing fine, there. but until last night, i was really struggling with night snacking. healthy snacking, but in excess! very much. that put a standstill on things for the week. i think i'm good now and weighed in remarkably low this morning. 218. of course i was super excited to be in the 200 & teens, but i'm not holding my breath. maybe i should, though. last week was beginning of TOM.
excited about a healthy eating workshop that at the yoga center saturday. it is really important for me to shake things up every week or so to stay motivated. next week i am going to the aquatic center to workout with a friend. i think the following week i might scam a free trial at the local gym (the nice one...)

katiecron- glad your standstill is over--even if the 218 doesn't stick, I bet something under 220 will :)

I feel a bit better about how things are going. Waist measurement is a solid 27", so even though weight is still up a bit (133-134) I think I'm toning up and gaining muscle. My trainer moved her Omron bf% monitor so I haven't been able to do my beginning of the month test, but she'll be back from vacation soon so I can check in then. I just went grocery shopping at the natural foods coop last night so I finally have delicious fresh food to cook for myself and I am way easing up on the processed stuff. I'm going to go on a long run tonight, and things are generally feeling good! Just over 2 weeks left till new progress photos :) good luck everyone!

2 pounds lost this week. My scale at home is a bit crazy, so it is hard for me to get a concrete number. I use the scale at the gym for my weigh ins, but I think it is a couple pounds high. I would rather overestimate than underestimate though.

I am 2 1/2 weeks into no sugar! I have found that by cutting out sugar, I am naturally drinking more water. I plus that I didn't even know would happen!

This really has been a frustrating week. I have ran almost everyday for 2 weeks. I feel great! I have been eating very healthy, even have played around with my calorie intake, 1500 one day, 1200 the next, then 1600... and the scale hasn't moved a bit!

I think i am going to adjust my goal for this challenge. Just get to 120! 117 feels impossible right now.

Hello everyone :)

Hope you've all had a good week!

Just two weeks to go on this challenge, and I'm not doing as well as I was hoping :( Just checked my calorie average for the week and it came to 1440, which is above last week which came to 1370, will definitely be aiming back for under 1400 for this coming week. Also have a new workout program at the gym as of Friday so hoping that will speed the weightloss up a bit in the coming weeks.

-- i'm up 1lb from my last update. BUT, i did hit 192 on Thursday & Friday.. so I did lose 10lbs. but i took Friday & Saturday as 'off days' to eat healthy, but not bother counting the calories & fat... and I did well on Friday, but last night I ate some carrot cake before bed, so it said I gained 2lbs now.. oh well! official weigh-in on Wednesday .. so we'll see then!

Soooo, I slipped up and gained the five pounds I lost. Luckily I've been working out hard this week and eating well and I've managed to lose three of those. Long story short, I doubt I can make my goal. But that's alright with me, so long as I'm losing in the mean time. :)

I need a downward trend to motivate myself. I hate losing and gaining the same 5-10 pounds. If I can fight to get myself out of the 200's I think it will be a game changer. I've been eating far better than normal, and far fewer calories of that better food. I'm also on day 3 of the 30 day shred. Going to try for 30 days in a row, eeek.

I hope you guys dont mind, but Im going to try and post everyday, Im desperately trying to stick with this!

I can't remember the last time I was in the 170's...maybe like a year or maybe two years ago? Anywho I only have 3 more lbs to go for this challenge...I need to amp up my workouts. Congratulations to Fashinjunkie, thousoundsunny, chipmunk, sanna maria and utgirl on your weight loss! A few of you mentioned how it was a slow week --the important thing is that progress is being made, you're not gaining and you're on a downward trend. So many congratulations!

I haven't finished my full first week back on plan, but Im thrilled to be feeling helathier and committed. I struggle over the weekend, usually. Let's stick with it! :)

I will be reporting what I lost this week come Monday. Happy Friday, all!

-- still at 192... TOM is here, and yesterday was an "off" day. I'm happy though because for the past few days, i've STAYED at 192 (almost saw 191 at one point) so that means no gain.. and i'm maintaining. Let's hope by official weigh-in on Wednesday, when TOM is gone, i'll go down!

well, I am still hanging in there at 121. I think this will be my last post on this challenge, as i am going to Europe on Friday for a week and will miss the final weigh in day. I am a little disappointed that i only lost a pound, but i guess it is good that i didn't gain!

I started a 4th of July Challenge on the Featherweights page of you would like to join me, i am planning to meet my goal weight by then!!

So I was doing great for a while with steady weight loss but for some reason I just can't get below 180! ; (

This is the ultra weird part...After work yesterday I weighed myself just for the heck of it and i weighed 180 lbs, after that, I went to bed and weighed myself again in the morning...just guess how much I weighed!!!

182 lbs!! And I don't eat after I get home from work either. I guess its just water but geeez. How can going to sleep make a person gain two pounds???lol.

blah anyways...i'm also about to start TOM, so that could also be contributing to wacky weight gain. The end of this challenge is coming up though...not sure if i'm gonna make it chicks! wish me luck!

-- so i HIT GOAL!! i wasn't all that OMGOMGOMG about it this morning, because yesterday i kept weighing myself throughout the day because the scale kept looking like it wanted to say 189 yesterday... so im just fine because it confirmed it. also, it's not official weigh-in till Wednesday for me, but because the end of this goal falls before that, i still count it :) i AM happy that I have completed a mini-goal challenge! the valentines day one didn't work out for me (did come in within a couple lbs though)

Well, I changed my goal from 147.2 to 145 after a fluke week of losing 3lbs. But then I went through a month long plateau where I didn't lose anything. So I did not make it to my revised goal, but I did make it to my original goal and I'm very happy with that considering I didn't lose for a month I got there exactly too...not a tenth of a pound more or less.

SW: 153.2
GW: 147.2
Final weight: 147.2!

Woohoo! I hit goal with some to spare! :D Definitely focusing more on toning up now more than anything, but I'm happy where things are headed, 80 lbs lost is right around the corner! :)

So I didn't make it to my goal, but I did lose 10 pounds! WOOT! Also, that only leaves me with 5 pounds left until I start maintenance. These last 10 pounds have made such a difference in my body and I can't wait until I reach my goal of 150-151!

super close. i am at 214, i think my goal was 213. maybe by the end of the day i can see that number. i happened to weigh in after the gym, so i'll let the body cool down and hop on the scale later this afternoon.

I was wondering what the next challenge should be? I think there's already a 4th of July Challenge but I was thinking maybe a Memorial Day Challenge (May 31)? Let me know if anyone would be interested!

I don't think I made it but I didn't weigh today (cause BL weigh is tomorrow so I'll just count that).

Last week was at 202.8. Goal was 199. I think I actually gained this week :(
