hi everyone-Just starting the thread-i want to eat well today-I will eat well today-I will exersize today...that is the mantra...

I am off today-I have a vacation day-Whoo hoo! and i am cleaning the house and doing bills:( Oh well...

So DH and i keep talking about my finding another job...right now i work in a federally funded community health center-I was hoping to receive loan repayment from the feds or the state for doing this, but I have been here a year and nothing has come through...needless to say, i can work almost anywhere else for a lot more money...not to be money hungry but my student loans of $120k are killing me...yesterday I took a big step and called a recruiter...the problem is, I really like the people I work with, and that is not something to just throw away. plus, i just changed jobs a year ago! I am just starting to get settled in! And i'm just starting to get used to my patients!(And they to me!)
Arrgh...I'm at least going to see what's out there...I just don't want my current job to get wind of the fact that i am looking....because nothing may come of it!

bye for now!
Lori

FYI! Lisa emailed me and wanted me to let you all know....

Second, please tell everyone hello and sorry I haven't been posting. My
work is doing a "trial" period monitoring our internet use to observe how
having unlimited access to the internet benefits our company. I have no
idea what that means... but they want to see what sites their employees
benefit from using... but we also assume they are also getting to see when
we're surfing! Anyway, the trial period ends Friday... so I should be back
soon. Tell everyone hello!!!

I will post a better reply in a minute, got to do something for work!

Lori ~

Enjoy your day off! I completely understand your dilemma about the job. Maybe something will come along that you love just as much but will pay more to get some of those dreadful student loans paid off. Don't they just hang over your head!!

I paid my way thru college (just my BS, I don't have the extensive schooling like you!!) but now am starting my Master's. The thought of taking out another $20,000 is just killing me....I really need the education to advance in my field, but it is such a good feeling not to have student loans....ok, I apologize, now this is turning into a "ME" session....

Hang in there, and see what the recuiter turns up, you never know....in the meantime, maybe the gov will suprise you and pay some of your loans off.

Be back in a bit....

Morning Girls
Sorry about being MIA Its hard to post when I'mat home and alot of stuffs going on
Mom's changing Jobs and as its some miracle of science I'm still on her insurance but the bad part is our COBRA would be $1000 basically I'm going to have 2 months with no insurance which also means no PT and no CP treatment that i was going to try this month (I was going to have Botox injections to break some of my spasticity) I told her it was ok if we didnt have the cobra but sometimes it feels like for every inch forward I get a giant step back
 I was thinking of joining Ediets and doing their convenience plan for a while (they have a sale on) b/c this semester is going to be beyond hectic 15 credits + working and then trying to hit the gym arg!
Today I'm going to my alt med doc and seeing about getting a "booster shot" (acupuncture) so I can feel like a human again

Oh on the Fashion front!:gift: My now slenderific Sis (shes prolly a 14W) is in the process of giving me her entire wardrobe!
*my sis has very expensive taste I'm not complaining the benfitsof being voluptuous (or indeed the benefits of being in the process of becoming less voluptuous)

Lori - enjoy your vacation day. Sometimes using a day to get bills paid and clean makes you feel more relaxed cuz then a work day isn't so hectic with errands. The work thing is a hard decision but if you gotta have the $$ to pay back the loans you gotta have the money.

Tonya - thanks for posting about Lisa. I was really getting kinda worried about her. When do you start your Master's program?

Kier - that's to bad about the insurance and your PT & CP. I hope your family can work out something with insurance shortly - it is scary to not have it.

Went to my favorite restaurant last night for dinner and totally pigged out. I had bread, a small ceasar and my favorite pasta dish (penne, grilled chicken, tomato, mushrooms and fresh spinach in chicken broth) which wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't topped the whole thing with fresh grated parmesean and eaten the entire plate! The friend I was with was totally laughing at me - he has only known me a few months (post-weight loss) and couldn't believe how much I packed away. Part of it was because it was my favorite restaurant and my favorite dish but part of it (I think) was because I let myself get too hungry (am I just rationalizing?) It was 8:30 at night and I'd only had 8 points all day plus I usually earn about 4 activity points working out. I think I'm back on the wagon though...I worked out for 90 minutes this morning, have had a ton of water, an OP bfast and packed OP snacks and lunch. I'm not sure why I'm rambling about this....guilt I suppose....I want you to absolve me of my sin! (Ha-ha) Plus I'm mad at myself. I worked so hard last week and showed a huge loss and figured that if I stayed OP this week that I'd maintain or show a small loss this weekend. Now I feel as though I've probably gained.

OK this is really whiny and self-centered. I'm going to take a time-out and come back when I can be more sociable towards all of you.

Hi to all - "see" you later.

Laura

This week is a good one for me so far, I have walked 3-3.5 miles each day this week! And have been staying OP. I hope I can keep this up!!

Laura ~ We all have nights like that, you are fine, and you have already picked yourself back up, you can't gain all that weight you lost last week from one dinner....no worries!!!!

I am so glad tomorrow is Friday, I am so ready for another weekend. Work is really getting boring without students around, and they don't come back for another two weeks.....:(

Well, at least I have all of you to chat with! :D

OK... I am going to whine a LOT just to make me feel better. So ignore if you don't want to hear about it!!

OK, got home late last night and hubby says the dog is in trouble. OH GREAT, now what. I feel like we wasted a wad of money on an expensive purebred golden that is a wonderful dog, yet aggrivating at the same time. WELLLLLL... get this. One of our neighbors (we are almost sure we know who) called the police and said our dog was in their yard. THEY CALLED THE COPS!!!!! We have new neighbors next to us who are the rudest, most impolite people I have ever met. They are very very young too (not that their is any wrong with that, but they don't understand that neighbors should talk to each other if there is a problem)... about 6 weeks ago they had a HUGE party of drunk men and they decided to play football with no concern where they were running. One neighbor yelled at them.... then they headed towards my garden and I asked them not to.... so since then the neighbors won't even look at me. Now we are sure they called because everyone else has dogs and everyone understands that sometimes dogs walk.... AND, the previous neighbors we got along with REALLY well and they used to play with our dog in their yard, so she doesn't totally understand that they don't live their anymore. And we do watch her and do tell her to come when she strays. It just made me soooooo mad. And what makes me more upset is that if they call again, then we have to pay a fine and go to court. That is ridiculous for something as simple as saying to your neighbor... "Please watch you dog so she stays out of our yard".... I AM IRRATE!!!

Oh and this came about because last week a letter with new ordinances for the area came out and most were concerning dog violations (like barking, etc.)... And since they are young and new and jerks, I think they just like to piss off neighbors.

Sorry to complain... just had to get this off my chest!

Oh and the police officer couldn't believe how nice and well behaved our dog was and that she didn't even bark. Idiot neighbors. I wish I was rich so I could move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonya - thx - I think I just needed to hear someone else say that! Walking 3.5 miles everyday is a big deal - I'm impressed.

Jen-L - I can't believe your neighbors called the cops before discussing the situation with you or your husband. How immature and rude!

I don't really feel like working......come out and post girls.

08-22-2002, 11:36 AM
These are the same neighbors that after they moved in, I was walking by and said HI and was going to introduce myself, and they looked at me and walked away. I am not that threatening am I?? AND... don't know if I mentioned this, but when the woman finally said HI to me a month later, I explained to her that out very lovable dog used to play in their yard because the previous neighbors liked her, and she is a little confused that they are gone, so if there is a problem, tell me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TonyaLyn
08-22-2002, 11:51 AM
I feel for you Jen! Some people just are not animal lovers...we have a lab, and a puppy at that, so he gets very excited when he sees someone in the yard, I am always so cautious when he is playing in the yard, hoping he doesn't jump on someone and they sue us!!

Your golden is welcome in my yard anytime, so is the Jack Russell, Joey, next door (that hates Zeus), the yellow lab, Jake, from down the street, and Cody, the beagle from the house across the back yard...:D We have dog parties all the time! :)

Jen-L
08-22-2002, 11:57 AM
Totally Tonya!! The guy kiddy corner to us has a black lab, beautiful, and I don't get mad unless thoy pooo in the yard. If the dog is nice, then I can understand that sometimes dogs are dogs. There used to be a bichon (they moved) that roamed in everyones yards, he was kind of mean too, and pottied on everyones trees. He was ALWAYS in our yard taunting Sadie, and we never called the cops. What a waste of our police money. And stupid at that. So I was quite upset. Kind of getting over it now. But now I am planting a HUGE border of flowers and bushes on that side and that will probably irritate them since they have tried to claim 2 extra feet of property on ours!!! I guess I just really miss our previous nice neighbors. I miss standing out in the yard and chatting for an hour. They were awesome neighbors. When I went into labor with Emma, he came over and let Sadie out and we could trust them with our house keys. We don't have anyone like that now. So sad!

Jen-L
08-22-2002, 11:58 AM
Oh and Tonya, I LOVE the name Zeus for a black Lab!! Coooool name!

TonyaLyn
08-22-2002, 12:03 PM
That is sad. Neighbors are so important. I, too, love standing outside talking to our neighbors, even having a beer at night with them on our porch....that is what life is suppose to be about! :)

I don't like dog poop in our yard either, I have a hard enough time cleaning up after Zeus let alone another dog, but I have no problems with dogs wandering in our yard, if they are nice. I know people feel really threatened by our dog, but he is the nicest, non threatening dog I know. He just wants you to scratch him behind the ear!! :) He is well trained too, at 9 months old, he knows his boundaries. He is also my DH"s hunting dog, so when he disobeys he knows he is in some serious trouble with Todd. Sometimes I think he is too harsh on Zeus, but also find he is very well behaved with Todd's training.

Anyway, as you can see I am not working hard today....just putting my time in until lunch!!

BTW ~ My brother and SIL are getting a golden in a few months, they are very excited....

08-22-2002, 12:15 PM
Jen, I totally feel for you about icky neighbors My parents have some jewels...they took siding off their house 5 years ago and have never replaced it, they called in a noise complaint on my parent's dogs barking (when they were IN my mom and dad's house!!!) when they walked by, and they have just been general pains in the butt. But they still feel entitled to play through on bocce ball when it goes into my mom and dad's yard. So my parents erected a fence on one side of their property only...guess which side?

Tonya you are a walkin' fool. I wish I lived close enough to you to walk with you. My walking buddy goes ot her cabin all the time in summer, so we have basically put our walking together on hold until fall. And I can't seem to get my child to sleep through the night these days, so getting up and running at 5 am isn't an option right now. I am impressed with your OP progress. You are going to turn sideways and we won't see you anymore. BTW, thanks for the progress report on Lisa...I was getting worried that she got laid off along with some of her co-workers.

Laura, one bad meal does not a failure make. It sounds like you did maybe let yourself get too hungry. Four points until dinner is enough to make anyone go psychotic at the sight of pasta. But we live and we learn, and that is one learning experience that is now behind you and benefitting you in the time to come. You rock, you and all your losses, and it will definitely keep rolling on, you've been working so hard at it.

Kier...new clothes!!!! With expensive labels!!! That sounds like a dream come true. Be sure to make the most out of your summer vacation. School will start again in no time and you'll be swamped and wishing for it again. As an alternative to ediets, did you know thta there is a site called myfreediets.com? Check it out before you spend money on ediets, because it seems to be to be exactly the same thing, except less moolah, which is always good.

Lori, enjoy your day off. Get on the internet and find a grant or two to help with your student loans. If you're working at a state-funded clinic, there are private endowments that can help you pay these off. And the state will never volunteer money, you really have to turn them upside down and shake it out of them. Explore these avenues and see what turns up. Good co-workers and being comfortable with clients (in your case, patients, is worth its weight, and I'd hate to have you leave it and be unhappy somewhere else if there's any other way. Good luck!

Deb, thanks for your encouragement. I too have been so off the wagon, and I have to kick myself in the @ss and get myself back on. Let's do it together.

I did the job interview this morning. I think it went well, but you just never know until you find out if you got it or not. I did find out that there was over 100 applicants for this position (!!!) so I am feeling lucky just to have had an interview. We shall see, though. The office for the position is really nice, and it's with what seems to be a really neat group of ladies. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Enough of the novella, I need a nap. Couldn't sleep last night because of stress and sick baby. He's running a fever, I think because of his vaccinations. Poor guy is just miserable.

:(

See you kiddos later!

Ok, just a quick post before I go off to lunch. School is getting to be very busy, even for a relaxing semester in the mountains. Or I guess it's not really being able to check email after dark if you like your ankles in one piece (really dark and overgrown trail to the computer lab). Anyway, I really wanted to say that.....I RAN THREE MILES THIS MORNING. Ok, it was all down the mountain, but I did manage to run some bits up too. There's a guy here who runs the whole thing every morning, and I was out running/walking one morning and he saw me in one of the walking bits and he's all, you have to RUN up. And, then when he gets back, he wanted to know how far down the road I had gone, and then he says, oh, I usually go a few miles further down. In a very challenging sort of way. Well, I decided that dammit, I was going to do six miles as well (although I had no delusions about being able to run the whole thing). So I got up early this morning and ran down, and then maybe a mile back up (the bottom part is kind of flat). And then I started to walk. And who do you think I should run into on his way down? "WHAT IS THIS?". i.e. why the **** aren't you running? So I am going to run this whole mountain eventually. I will will will.

Jayne- That's too bad about your walking buddy going on vacation. Can you walk with Aaron in a stroller at all? I guess running with a stroller would be a pain, but walking is probably not too bad (although I have very limited experience)

Tonya- Excellent job on the walking! Isn't it great how much better you feel when exercising? I've been hiking and walking a lot more just this past week and I already feel a difference.

Jen-L- That stinks about your neighbors. I can't stand people who go straight up to the police or whatever without asking the cause of the problem to fix it first. Just this morning, this guy who was doing salamander research and staying in the house our group has been assigned left. He'd been very nice to us and we thought he was just great. Well, on his way out, he went and complained to the station director and told him we were trashing the house and were just total pigs. And we have been keeping the house really clean. Anyway, the station secretary and maintenance man went up and did a surprise visit before we knew about this and thought the place looked fine. So yeah, people are nuts sometimes.

Winter- I would definitely say the overeating was because you let yourself get too hungry. I always eat way too much if I am starving beforehand. And if it's my fave food, look out!

Lori- Good luck deciding what to do about the job. Repaying student loans is looking pretty scary to me at the moment. I think life would be alot easier if school were free, don't you?

Ok, gotta go eat!

Cat

Woo-hoo Cat! Running 3 miles - way to go! So cool that you are using that guy as a motivator instead of being offended by his comments.

Jayne - I imagine you did very well in the interview. Your sincerity, compassion, and common sense (important traits for any position that affects children) always come through in your posts - I'm positive they did in your interview.

Alright, I'm going to take a position here that is likely to make me hugely unpopular.

I don't like dogs. Yeah, you heard me right, I don't like dogs. Now, I know that in a lot of people's minds this equates me with serial killers and child molesters, but the fact remains that I'm not a huge canine fan. Nonetheless, I can't imagine that if my neighbor's dogs kept wandering in my yard that I wouldn't go to my neighbor to resolve the issue rather than the cops.

'Nough said on that.

Thx everyone for your comments re: my pigfest of yesterday. Just really needed the reminder that one meal won't make or break an entire week of effort.

Where's Jess?

Later,
Laura

Hi GUYS!!! I want to post desperately, but I keep getting sidetracked @ work. I'm an Aquarius, so it doesn't take much to distract me.

I've printed the posts & I'm going to read through them now.

Unfortunately, my camping weekend has been canceled & postponed because a friends mother passed away & we're all such a little "family" that we'll be going up to atleast one viewing.
So I've decided to work this weekend, and we're rescheduling the trip. The campsite owners are NOT being nice about this. What :censored:'s about this. We've been going to the same location for almost 5 years now, w/ about a group of 15-20 people. If they do not accomodate us, THEY will loose out big time. I wonder if they care?

I hit the fridge in the middle of the night last night. Bad, bad me.
I'm back on track today though, and working through it.

Had to get one of my tires fixed. I had a nail in it, and it kept loosing air. Cars are pains in the butts (especially for me).

OK ... I'm going to read through the thread & then post replies.

I miss you guys!!!!

Jen, you know that being so very tired is an excellent sign!!! I'm crossing my fingers for you. If I get the job, they have a daycare for employees. Get this...it's a dollar an hour. Because it is county employees working through the school district and county agencies, they get to use the school district's early childhood daycare. Employees get that beautiful rate. I love it! Not that price is the only factor, but it's quality care too. But he wouldn't be there much anyway, because the schedule is totally flexible, so most of it I would do in the evenings when his daddy is home.

I was thinking about Jess, too...hope she didn't inhale too many shower chemicals and get sick. :)

Jayne ... unfortunately my bad car luck is just my OWN bad luck. And don't even TALK about transmissions, both brand new cars I owned had tranny problems within 1 year of having them. What's up with that? So since I have no luck w/ transmissions, I decided to get a standard. :smug:
I've been hit w/ in 6 mos of having each new vehicle (the damage to my new truck I just found out is $3,000 - and we're talking BARELY noticable damage, the stupid girls insurance must be through the roof now w/ 3 cars involved!).
And tires, lets talk about tires, seems as though I attract every free nail in the road.
Not to mention road life on the L.I.E. (I-495) w/ all of the rocks & such hitting the windshield & bouncing off of *as it seems to me* only my car.
That's my luck. I'm as lucky as the rabbit who loses it foot.

Weighed in today but I didn't want to. We have had in-laws for a week now and I feel like I have been cooking and preparing snacks for an entire week 24-7!

I have resisted temptation by avoiding desserts and choosing lighter fare for lunch. I walked alot, it must have been all those trips to the supermarket but I lost 6.4 LBS this week! There are now officially 31.8 fewer LBS of me! :D
