Since we have many chicks doing Phase I at the moment, please post your questions, fears and comments in this thread rather than starting a new post. This way all the info will be in one place for experienced Beachers to lend a hand.
Of course, your introduction post should be done separately so we can welcome you aboard.
I just finished week 2 of phase 1. I lost 7.6 pounds. I want to spend one more week on phase 1 i think. I"m nervous about phase 2. Do you think weight will keep coming off the way it has been, or does it stall after 2 weeks of phase 1?
I read the book and I know it says they discourage it because people get bored of phase 1 foods and start cheating. So far, no cheats, and i'm perfectly happy with the food. I'm upping my veggies and water this week. I've been working out 1 hour, 6 days a week.
If you do a search in the forums, you will get a plethora of help on the topic. Do not stay on Phase 1 for more than the alotted time. It is unhealthy. Start with Phase 1.5 -- add one fruit or grain to your day and see how your body (and the scale) responds. If there are no cravings and the scale still moves, keep going with it.
Search for 1.5 and you should get a lot more information.
The weight loss will slow some, but it's ahealthy some (usually 1-2 lbs a week depending). I lost 0 on my first week but I didn't gain. So playing with fruit and grain has been interesting. Good luck!
I did a third week of phase 1 because my life was especially busy and it was easier to just stick with the familiar than move on that particular week. I was fine, not bored or tempted to eat off plan but I only lost 1 pound the third week. I think most people seem to have a slow week that third week whether or not they've moved into phase 2.
Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with extending phase 1 for a short time if you wish, but there's no huge benefit to it so why miss out on the good taste and good nutrients that come along with fruits and grains?
Heidi, I agree with you. The rapid weight loss will most likely not continue, especially with someone who doesn't have too much to lose. I didn't lose anything my first week of Phase II, but had a small loss by the end of the second week.
ok, you girls are very convicing. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow. I have some no sugar added frozen strawberries and a nf plain yogurt. What do you think about that? I could add some splenda. What is a serving of strawberries anyways?
Hey!! Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!
I just ate a lamb kofta that was in my friends fridge, stupidly checked the label after and it had currants and breadcrumbs in it!! Feel really guilty now, do you think it will make a big difference?? It wasnt very big but feel awful as have been really good this week, apart from afew vodkas last night (am now on week 4 phase 1, so allow myself a couple of drinks at weekend). x
Lusty, the lamb was an honest mistake. Try not to beat yourself up over it. Forgive yourself and eat OP today. I am sure we all have a slip up every now and then!
Thanks for that! Being very good today, is such a hard slog isnt it dieting sometimes! Feeling down about it today. Went to my cousins last night and they were all going on about my diet!! Got very annoying " how come you can eat peanut butter but not carrots?" Some people just dont get it!! Think im going to go onto phase 1.5 after another week. Do you just start off with one fruit a day?x
Today is going to be my third day on phase 1.5. So far i've had strawberries with fat free yogurt and a splenda. Do I have to stick to strawberries or can i substitute blueberries today? Tomorrow I'm going to weigh myself and see how i'm doing. I was thinking of adding in thin triscuits with laughing cow as my second carb. I think the serving size is 15 crisps. Does that sound ok?
Maryjane, you can switch to blueberries or any other berry today. I think they all fall under the same berry category.
Lusty, if you find that the lamb and/or vodka is causing cravings, then it's best to do a strict Phase 1 for a few days to get it out of your system. But only if you're experiencing cravings. By now, you shouldn't be having any cravings at all. People are always going to question why you can eat this and not eat that. The best answer is to explain the amount of sugar in your food and where they stand on the glycemic scale. I hope you have a "clean" day today.
