Talking She didn't recognize me....

Now, granted this wasn't someone I know well at all, we've only met a few times. My adult son is dating her adult daughter and she (the mom) works at a local clothing store. I had popped in this morning to do a little quick shopping and thought, I think that is Mrs. C. So, I greeted her and while she wasn't rude, she just stared at me as if to say 'How do you know my daughter? How do you know me?' I re-introduced myself and she was astounded! She just kept saying, 'You've lost soooo much weight! I didn't recognize you!'

That's amazing. Most of my neighbors, friends, etc see me often enough that the most I get is, 'Have you lost weight?' That's really okay by me, I am not too keen on discussing this wt loss journey with everyone I know. Just doing my thing.... But to see myself through someone else's eyes....well, that was remarkable!

Just had to share

We are gathering old pictures for a display board for senior night - girls basketball - and at the game last night we were looking at each other's pics. One of the moms who has just lived here a year or so was looking at a picture of the girls Y team about 8 years ago. "Who's this coach?" She asks. "That's my husband." I say. "The same husband you have now???" DH just beamed from ear-to-ear. We've all gotten used to the new, smaller him but it was that validation all over again (he's lost about 130 pounds) and that great feeling just never goes away!

That's awesome! I live far away from my entire family so the first time I saw them after I began my journey I'd already lost about 80 lbs (that was around Halloween). Getting that 'shock & awe' was so motivating and it really helped me to look at my loss from another perspective (it feels like losing weight is sooooo slow but losing 1-2 lbs a week is really a whole lot after a bit). Of course I haven't seen my family since then and probably won't until May/June, and right now that's my motivation...I want to really shock them! Congrats on your loss & keep up the great work!!!!!!

that's sooo great! congrats!!!!

i had a similar experience recently. we had went over to my boyfriends parents house, and one of the guys my boyfriend works with lives next door to his parents. now, my boyfriend sees this guy daily, but i only see him every so often. the last time we went to brandon's (my boyfriend) parents house, the guy he works with comes up to me (he hasn't seen me since halloween) and was like 'wow tracey, you're looking great. you've lost a bunch of weight!" and i had really only lost about 25 pounds since the last time he saw me. (this was on new years eve.)

but that just felt SO good to hear that someone noticed.
my boyfriend lives with me, so he sees me too much to really notice any slight changes. i guess it's a good thing to have those people around that you only see every couple months or so..to give you that added boost of confidence!!
