Yippee!! I'm doing the happy Zumba dance!! :dancer: I'm extremely happy to announce that after the 4 lbs I lost last week, I lost 1.8 lbs more this week, just following Weight Watchers and exercising most days of the week!! I'm thrilled that I'm at the lowest weight I've been in at least a year or two!!

Of course, DH and I are taking a friend out for Chicago deep dish pizza on Saturday...I'll really have to limit my portions so I can meet Annie's challenge.

Laura - Glad you're gonna tell bf that there will be no guests over this weekend. Are you doing BE tonight? I hope the gym replaces the class with something fun.

Happy - Wow, taking a pain pill on an empty stomach...that would make ya' fly! Glad you did eat something and then relaxed it off. Your doc should've explained how painful foot surgery is and how incapacitated you'd be. My surgery wasn't as extensive as your and I was off work for several days and had to keep the foot propped up all the time, even at work. You're right...I don't have this weekend (or last for that matter) to myself. Which is why I'm taking March 5 off. As for broccoli slaw, I can't remember if I mentioned....the cafeteria here at work served it the other day...kind of a sesame Asian dressing with sunflower seeds, almonds, a little bit of cabbage....OMG, it was phenomenal!! Grace Slick is 70?? OMG! Glad you got off the 'puter to go rest...otherwise I would've had to pull out the :rollpin: on ya' arse!

Anyway, I'm going to savor the happy weigh in and enjoy the rest of my afternoon. 2 more hours 'till I get to go home, then I'll go to Zumba and get to share my great news and do happy dances again!! :)

YEAH WHOOOOOOOOOOOO Chelle!!! I knew you would do gooder than sh*t. You have a little over two weeks to get the 3 lbs off to make 214. Like 17 days, that is only about 1.5 per week. Come on Chelle stay really OP and exercise as much as possible without hurting existing body parts that are already in jeopardy. HOLY CRAP, I am so danged excited for you. I can hardly sit here and drink my Starbucks....CHEERS to you my dear. YOU ARE AWESOME!! WHEN you get to 214 by end of challenge, I have a great reward for you, and notice I say WHEN.

Laura..yes, do tell the BF, no visitors, it is a LAURA ONLY weekend, by golly. Don't cha just hate it when you space is invaded and you just want down time. May the force be with you my sista.

Happy...You poor soul. Hope everything feel 100 percent better by tomorrow or heck by tonight. Patience...all good things come to those who wait...I heard that on the ketchup commercial (prviously discussed here). Work all caught up, bloss woman having puter probs..she is leaving the office for the day. In-house vacation for me...hehe

Well best act like I am working as she passed my office. Just in case she pops her head in here, shouldn't really be posting in 3FC. LOL

Love and hugs,

Thanks, Annie. I'm really gonna work my arse off to get to 214 by 3/11. Enjoy the rest of your in-house vacay!

Many, many thanks to all of you for your encouragement!!

BTW, where are we going/what are we doing in March? Shaking our maracas as we do the Merengue perhaps?

Morning all,
Last day of the week and then the following weekend is Labour Day weekend here in Victoria so I am going home. Because DS1 said that he would be coming over and now isn't, I left the tickets to the last minute and naturally had to pay extra for that. Drat and darn.

Butt is better but has some interesting colours on it. No need for the arnica and he wasn't hot enough to employ for the job. I'm fussy not frustrated.

Mel, sorry to hear that you are sick. Get better soon. Miss youuuuuuuuuuuu

Annie - too funny about Hella and the birthday. Shad and Gunbo used to have birthdays as well. The cats were not bothered. However they never got a cake - just doggy bone shaped biscuits. Darn it they did taste bad either!

Michelle - congrats on the wonderful weight loss. You are doing so well. You get the prize for the week. I certainly don't deserve it. I am exactly where I was a week ago, a month ago, **** probably a year ago. I do need to get to a gym, but.............

Laura - hope you have a downtime weekend. Better speak up before the b/f invites the gang.

Ceejay - don't work too hard. Sounds like a reshuffle in the management coming up.

Okay better go do something for which I get paid. Jeeves, hand down the first tray of carbon brushes please.

Happy - Sorry about your run-in w/ the painkillers. I can relate - after I had my wisdom teeth removed, I made the mistake of taking a pain pill on an empty stomach and felt just awful. Yeh, I'd definitely give that doctor a hard time about not preparing you for the post-surgery recovery. The French bread pizza I had was a Red Baron 4-cheese. Stouffers used to have one that was called a white pizza and it was awesome. They stopped stocking it at the stores in our area, so now we buy the RB one, which is pretty tasty.

Thanks for mentioning the gym class. I just phoned the gym and it just so happens a trainer answered the phone and she told me she's going to try and get a group together tonight (via PA announcement) for a class w/ more pilates than yoga, and some stretching. Sounds like it might be good because I do like pilates more than yoga, but on the other hand it sounds kind of iffy...I suppose it wouldn't hurt to show up, but I'd feel self conscious if only a few students show up.

Michelle - Congrats on the great loss this week! Great job!! Be careful around that deep dish pizza this weekend!

Shad - Happy Friday! Nice that you have a long weekend to look forward to next week. :)

Only 90 more minutes to go for today. Things are starting to heat up here in terms of our department's busy time, so I better get my ducks in a row.

Haven't gotten a whole lot done today. I did make it to the gym today.

Annie
I'm not going to retire any time soon. I'd like to though in a couple of years. I'm getting back into the 401k program. I wanted to know if there was more than one option, and there is.

Happy
Feel better soon

Michelle
Congrats on the weight loss. You are really an encourgement to me. Have fun with your friend tonight.

Happy happy Friday.....we are in for 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow. I hope not. This winter has sucked. Going to visit momma this evening, nothing really planned for the weekend. Work tomorrow at CVS and that is about it. More momma time for me.

Everyone have a marvelous Friday and weekend as I typically don't get back here on the weekend. I may pop in later today.

Love and Hugs...

oh P.S. Got another letter from Baby boy soldier. (BBS), he sounds good but very homesick.

Howdy all,

Sitting here trying to decide on something to eat so I can take a pain pill. I can now start to feel individual spots like the side and top of my foot where they did specific work and it's sensitive. I'm thinking by May I will have forgotten all about this and will be enjoying a sandy beach :beach: The roofing guys are back - apparently they don't have much work as 17 of them are working on the house. From the ones I saw thusfar walking the yard, I hope they leave their shirts ON! No eye candy for Mel or Annie  The noise has begun - going to be a long day. I'm sure the cat will be freaking out. She will want to go out to get away from the noise and then will stop dead in her tracks once she sets foot outside as she is terrified of other people. So she won't know what to do with herself. :yikes: Poor Kitty.

Annie - I hope you don't get any more snow. Sounds like you're as tired of winter as we all are. Have a good visit with the Momma. Hugs all around. I do hear that one of the first things the soldiers notice is how much they miss home, friends and family. :grouphug:

Ceejay - they are coming up with all sorts of options to save for retirement - make sure you stay knowledgeable. We will just slide in under the radar with partial benefits, not leaving much for people like my sister so they want to incent us to save as much as we can for ourselves. I was thinking though, they talk about people living longer and collecting for a long time yet when I started to look at friends and family, only about 30 percent actually lived long enough to even start collecting social security so I don't know about some of their projected trends. :dunno:

Laura - sometimes a smaller class is a good thing - you get more attention from the instructor. Especially with Pilates where form is so very important. I hope things work out for you.

Shad - enjoy your long weekend.

Hope you are feeling better today Mel. And that the snow misses you.

Enjoy that pizza Michelle - but not too much of it otherwise you'll have to do a Zumba marathon over the weekend and you know you don't have time for it.

DH just said something about maybe losing the cable and internet connection with the roof tear off so I'm going to post this before I lose it. Have a good weekend peeps!

Happy Friday Fo' Sho'!

I'm leaving work early today as we have a team bowling event. Even though I love bowling, I'm gonna take a pass today as my back and my knee are a slight bit twingey after last night's workout (15 minutes of treadmill, 30 minutes of Zumba - SO MUCH FUN!!, and 30 minutes of strength training). I forgot to ice when I got home from the gym. Anyway, I'd prefer to use my back and knee for Zumba and other stuff ;) and not risk hurting it bowling. Personally, many of the people I talked with would rather we just be allowed to go home early...but then that wouldn't be team building would it?

As I mentioned earlier, I've got an insanely busy weekend ahead....so not sure how much I'll be able to post. I'll be here in spirit and OP as much as possible so that I can achieve the challenge Annie set for me. :)

Shad - So nice that you have a long weekend to return home for a few days!! Glad you didn't need the arnica application or applicator! I knew you had a colorful personality and now a colorful butt to match!!

Laura - did you get to the gym and was the Pilates class a go? I hope they get something you like on the schedule more permanently. I gotta agree with Happy in terms of smaller class sizes being better as you get more help with proper form. As for the deep dish pizza...turns out, my friend has changed her mind and chosen another Italian restaurant. there probably won't be deep dish pizza to tempt me. :woohoo: So hopefully, I'll be able to find something healthy on the menu. As we head down to the windy city tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you and hoping you are having a nice "me" weekend!

Ceejay - Good for you for getting to the gym!! As for retirement, a couple of years sounds pretty darn soon to me. Given how many years we have left on our mortgage, DH and I will be working for at least another 20 years. Good for you for getting 401k stuff clarified. Last night was fun with Zumba friends...tomorrow is fun with Chicago friend.

Mel - I hope you'll have enough ice in your fridge for all the March margaritas! And all your dirty or yellow snow outside cannot be used instead of ice.

Happy - I'm definitely in for margarita party at Mel's in March. I hope your foot is doing better, and rather than give your cushy pillow to Shad, you best be proppin' your foot up on it! Don't make me come down there!! :rollpin:  17 roofing guys and not ONE of them eye candy! That sucks!

Annie - 1" to 3" of snow?? I hope it misses us up here and I really hope that doesn't snow in Chicago tomorrow. Chicago driving is BAD ENOUGH in GOOD weather! Enjoy your visits with momma tonight and on the weekend. So nice that your BBS is writing you often. Did he get the Hella Bella letter yet?

I'd better get some work done. Unfortunately, they don't pay me to stay on here and chit chat with y'all.

Lotsa love and hugs,

annie175

Good Afternoon All Ya'll.............

Went and had my bone scan done this morning. It was so very relaxing. I wanted to lie on that table and sleep, tech wouldn't let me. As much as we pay for those things, I think we should be able to take a nap if wanted. Indy opened a new Kroger (grocery store) down the street from work. Holy Moses is it ever nice. I got 1/2 lb sea scallops for 5 bucks. Can't wait to fix them for dinner.

CHELLE...one more boost for ya...DO NOT OVEREAT THE DEEPDISH PIZZA...you only think those pepperonis are meat, actually it is my eyeballs watching you. Don't do it, all this hard work is not worth it.

Happy...yes, we are all sick of snow...let's all meet in Cancun to get over it. I think MEL gets the "most" snow and "sick" of it award. Like 3 feet of snow there. YIKES, at least we have had melting.

Awesome Afternoon Ladies.

Hi everyone! Happy Friday (FINALLY)!!

Ceejay - A couple years 'til retirement sounds better than no retirement! I think a lot of people will be unable to retire because of a need for medical benefits. I think the state of IL just rejected a bill that would have capped medical malpractice punitive damages - so the costs will keep rising.

Annie - I don't mind any test that doesn't require scraping, needle-pricking or boob squishing. So I agree - the bone density test wasn't at all bad. Nice you're hearing from DS regularly. Enjoy your time w/ mom this weekend. Hope you don't get much snow. We're all sick of it by now, that's for sure!

Happy - 17 guys working on the roof and none of them are worth ogling??!! What a shame, especially since you're at home this week... I didn't end up going to the gym class last night. I decided it sounded too iffy as to if it was even going to happen. I did one Body Electric workout in the basement instead.

Michelle - If I were you I'd be disappointed there was no deep dish pizza in the plans, but it wasn't your choice - and I'm sure you'll find something as delicious but healthier on the menu. Maybe some tasty minestrone soup for starters. Mmmm.

Hi Mel, Hi Shad!

Not much to report today. So happy it's Friday, but I do have a meeting w/ the boss shortly. There was some drama w/ our broker this morning, so hashing out all the issues wasted a huge chunk of the morning. My desk is a mess, so I better get this posted and get in some "tidy up" time before my meeting. Nothing going this weekend, and I did tell bf that I didn't want anyone coming to the house this weekend. So there.

Cheers!

Hope the foot pain calms down soon. I know you will be ready for the beaches.

Annie
Your momma is probably counting down the minutes till you get there.

Michelle
You are wise to not go to bowling if you knee and back is bothering you. Didn't go to the gym today but will ride my bike.

Laura
My goal is to retire at 62 from the city but I will most diffinately be working some where. I may stay until I'm 65 but don't want to. I wanna relocate to Mo. to be near my sister and her children and soon to be grand children.

I don't think Mel will mind - as long as we don't crash overnight - not sure she has enough pillows and blankets. We can set up our bar in the seniors day room and get them all riled.

Speaking of which, the crew chief here on the roof job told us he just turned 73 two days ago. Probably explains the lack of eye candy

Gosh I hope I'm not working at 73

Morning all - happy Sunday

And Annie - I wish your folks a happy wedding anniversary.

Yesterdays Japanese festival was a bit of a washout. It was squashed into a small space and there wasn't a lot of anything there apart from the cuisine and Japanese beer. It wouldn't be Australia if beer didn't feature strongly. They did have a good drum group. They were interesting to watch but the volume on the pa was turned up too loud. It rapidly became too painful to listen. We just moved around. R met up with a few of her work people - she works for a Japanese company - and then we wandered the local shops and retired to a pub for a drink. Later we went into the city for dinner and then came home and so to bed.

Today has dawned very cool indeed. I had intended to go for a drive but I think I might just swam around with a book and do some laundry and get emotionally prepared for the next week at work and the trip home next weekend.

Michelle - hope you are not working too hard and finding time to enjoy your weekend.

Annie - thanks for the suggestion of coffee and kahlua. Oh yum. But it won't help with the weight battle.

Happy - hope the foot is feeling somewhat better now and the pain is easing. Difficult to sort out what to do when a leg or foot is incapacitated.

Ceejay - good going on getting to the gym and for riding the bike. You go girl

Laura - are you enjoying a long and lazy weekend from the couch??? I'll be getting there myself soon.

Mel - feeling any better yet?

I'm sort of watching some ice skating from the Olympics and looking up info on the 'net. Can't find anything much to watch on tv at the moment. I guess it will improve - just can't think when. Disillusioned with the box.
Maybe I will catch up on some videos this afternoon as well.

Time to go sort out the laundry. It's definitely getting cooler here and I am thinking that I will have to layer clothes for warmth. I really don't want to have to buy new ones.

Good morning ladies,

Happy last day of February to one and all. The new roof is up - these guys charged more than any of the other quotes but they were very specific in all and exactly what they were going to do and were worth every extra penny they cost. Considering the lack of quality in workmanship we get around here, we wanted someone to do a decent job even though we don't intend to stay here forever. They were careful with the lawn although I though at one point they were going to break our very mature (and expensive) miniature Japanese Maple Tree. DH also got a free lawn clean up as they swept everything up - roofing tiles and the left over fall leaves and such  I had to laugh because there were several kids here and of course bottom of the rung - you get the clean up jobs. They have these big magnets on rollers - a little like old fashioned manual lawn mowers that they roll on the ground to pick up the nails and metal bits. Kids that they were, they were shoving each other, goofing around, kicking each other in the butts :kickbutt: Kids will be kids I guess. They did a good job, that's all that matters but it was funny as they looked like regular goofus youngsters which is refreshing instead of the gangster or all about me types you see now a days.

My foot is doing better tho I still am not up to doing more than walking around the house - and even with that I careful plan to maximize my trips. It pulls and burns on the side of my foot if I'm on it too long. I sleep with my leg propped up on pillows and the other night I lifted BOTH legs in the air to "tuck" the blanket under my feet. Was met with horrid pain. It was a slow reflex, nothing tugged, not sure what happened. I surely hope I didn't do something else to the tendon where they removed the cyst. We'll see tomorrow when I go to get it checked. I'm not sure how well I'm going to do at work. We are in an old warehouse and the bathrooms are a long way off from my desk. I'm going in Tuesday (doctors appts on Monday) so we'll see how that goes.

DH says he is having sympathy pains for me but we think it might be gout  What a couple of old fogeys we are

I'm going to try and do some laundry today and see what I can rustle up from the refrigerator as neither of us is really up to going to the grocery store yet.

Mel - I'm happy we will be drinking at your place tomorrow for an entire month. I can use the break and the alchohol. Heck I just won't eat solids - save the calories :lol3: Sounds like you got dumped on with the snow but that they took good care of getting it cleaned up. Good thing about snow this time of year, it generally doesn't last as long as a November snow would. Glad to hear you are all cleaned out and feeling better again. Back to eating the good stuff for you missy

Shad - too bad the festival was a bit of a dud. Aren't you going home next weekend? Perhaps you can bring some warmer stuff back with you. Don't you have a nice yellow fleece jacket from your Canada tour? Or is that too warm for your weather yet? It sounded as if you had purchased a bunch of warmer clothes on your last assignment. Layering works too.

Annie I agree that for all the money we shell out, if you want to sleep on the bone scan table, you should be able to! However they sometimes lock your hips in positions that are not exactly sleep inducing!

Michelle - wise of you to sit out the bowling. That's a real stressor on the knees and back - a young people's sport  Hope you are plowing through the tasks on this busy weekend for you.

Ceejay - I hope someone can meet their retirement goal - it always seems J-U-S-T out of reach

Laura - the 73 year old roofing guy was the crew chief on the ground arranging tarps and keeping the young guys in line. He said his wife had several daughters from a previous relationship and he was college poor now spending all his money sending them through school. How much you wanna bet his wife was MUCH YOUNGER than 73? Another guy was telling my husband that he remarried and had a set of 1 year old twins. I don't feel a bit sorry for these old coots that marry much younger women (like their daughter's age). I sincerely hope these women "make them feel young again" because they will be working until they go in the grave. I'm so glad my brains are located ABOVE the belt line

I had a strange dream this morning. Dreamt I was much younger and single and living in New York City. It was night time and I was walking around because I could not remember where my apartment was. I was looking out across the river - much as I expect it might look over at Mel's - across the water to the skyline of the city. I noticed 2 constellations of stars bright in the sky. I was getting tired and wanted to go to sleep if only I could remember where I lived. I finally walked up a hill to some tall buildings and on the front door were name plates next to the door bell. Found my name! My married name mind you even tho I was single  Wouldn't you know - 9th floor walk up! oof-duh  I was much skinnier with all those stairs and I wasn't such a clutter rat because once inside, I had a very tiny tiny apartment with just one small closet for all my stuff. Last thing I remember was folding clothes trying to get all my laundry on 2 small shelves and then I woke up. Strange...

I have a 9am gyne appt - which means I have to start getting ready at 6am so I probably won't be posting until late tomorrow. Will check back tonight and change the thread over to March if no one else has.

Have a good Sunday!
