Just wanted to start the new thread for the week
I'm doing pretty good. I lost the few pounds that I gained with TOM and am back to where I was :cp:

I'm trying very hard to stick to the total plan but I think that I will start to intruduce some low carb foods this week for variety.
I tried on some slacks that I had in my closet today and was very happy with how they looked. I think I'm on my way :cb:

Linda~~~Keep up the good work. That's great news about your blood sugars going down :cp: and also that you are feeling better and lighter. :D

Sundrop, Annie, Dee, Ramona and Jihan~~~How are you all doing?

Today I found a different health food store and they actually had Stevia Plus. Wouldn't you know I'd already bought the regular kind but I will put it away for a rainy day. I can't seem to find the Muir Glen tomato products anywhere. This store had their catsup but it has sugar so I guess I'm going to have to make my own. Hopefully my tomatoes will start ripening soon.
I also bought a product called Crave Free which is supposed to do as it says and help reduce cravings for carbs. We will see. Nothing on the FFP no-no list. I'm also taking something called Slim System 8. My Evening Primrose Oil gelcaps have 1000 mg in them. Do you think one a day is sufficient in that case?

I have been posting at the FatFlushPlan forum in ivillage.com and there is a lot of useful info there. The author even answers questions when noone else has the answer which is a plus. They are pretty strict there tho.
Not suffering as much hunger today for some reason. Can't figure out why unless it's because I'm finally getting used to this woe. Here's my (very boring) menu plan. Any tips?
By the way, just assume that I've had the Cranwater Cocktail, the hot lemonade and the regulation number of cranwater drinks throughout the day, ok?
Br.
1 hard boiled egg before my swim
AFter swim, one scrambled egg with chopped zucchini, peppers and green onions. Just a touch of commercial salsa. (1/4 tsp)

Lunch
4 oz chicken breast
mixed salad with lettuce, tomato, gr. onion, cauliflower
1 tbsp flaxseed oil
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Dinner (planned)
4 oz beef steak sliced thin and stir fried with
peppers, onions and mushrooms.
Cooked cauliflower

Evening snack
Fruit smoothie

Am I doing this right? I still haven't been able to find salt-free broths so I'm going to have to make my own but that can wait until I'm more in the mood.
Is anyone really into the exercise thing? I went to the pool this morning and did a mild to moderate workout in the deep end for about an hour.
Tomorrow I will t ry for 20 min on my recumbant cycle. My problem is I hate doing warm-ups. To me that seems like too much work. Lazy slug that I am. :p
I have a challenge coming up on Wednesday. It will be my sis's birthday and I'm supposed to take her out to lunch in her town. I'm hoping to find a place where I can get just a grilled chicken breast with salad and dressing on the side. I'd bring my own dressing. Wish me luck.

Well I was supposed to start on Sat but couldn't find any cran juice so I started yesterday. I felt pretty crappy most of the day. Does this pass? Also, can you drink more than the 64oz of cran-water a day or should I just do water instead for the extra amount.

Have a great day all

Oh Sil. I havent started yet. I'm so not happy with my self this week.....this stupid "TOM" is out of control, and I have a doctor's appointment next wed. not to mention I really want to read more about this plan so I get it right, so i'm weaning off the coffee and sticking to low carb for now, but I'm DEFINITELY doing this as soon as my body is regulated.....
How is it going for YOU??

Good Morning Fat Flushers
Jihan~~~ i'm so sorry about your TOM problems. It's a b*&ch isn't it? While you are getting it under control, try doing the cranwater, flax seed oil added to your diet because it helps in elimination and fats help to reduce hunger, and wean down on the caffeine and sugar. Then , when you do start FF you will be ahead of the game ;)
I have to admit that I still drink 2 cups of coffee a day.
I really notice a difference if I don't get all my cranwater in. This tends to happen at work some days because I am so busy and constantly walking around (it's a 42 bed unit) and I can't carry my water bottle around with me in the hallways. So, drink, drink and drink.

Sarah~~~Good for you on starting FF :cp: As far as the amount of cranwater goes, I think that you would be fine just drinking the 64 oz, and then adding in plain filtered water. What I do is in the morning and sometimes in the afternoon also, i mix plain water with my protein drink (not a shake) , in addition to the cranwater throughout the day. Sometimes I will drink some water with a little lemon juice and Stevia for a cold lemonade, which is also cleansing.
Sarah, in what way do you feel crappy? (Tired? Hungry? Constipated? )Maybe we can help ;)

Linda~~~I know what you mean about the posts at iVillage. There is tons of info there and lots of suggestions. The only thing is that they seem so strict. Which I am not. I need to follow as much as I can on the FFplan, but it has to be liveable also. So, alittle bit of aspartamine or caffeine might find it's way into my body  Just don't tell them at iVillage.

As far as your diet plan goes: it looks great! You are still allowed one other fruit (I only see one ) so you could have it as an afternoon snack if you wish. Sometimes instead of a fruit, I will have some fresh veggies and dip them in my flaxseed oil Honey Mustard dressing. So, you don't have to have 2 fruits if you don't want to.

Well, I'm off to fix breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs with veggies and one slice of Ezekiel bread. I'm not sure about lunch yet, but my fruit snack will be a white peach.
Have a great OP day you all :cb:

Hey everyone, just wanted to drop by and say i'm around. Everyone in my house is sick and I haven't slept more than 3-4 hours a night in 5 days. The kids are intense and i am on full time mama duty. I haven't been eating much of anything and haven't kept up with supps or cran much at all. It's just been a tough sinusy sort of time and I'm having to direct all mental clarity to the kids needs right now.

I'll be back on track whem my head clears and I can sleep for 6 hours straight again.

Oh got on the scale this morning, forgot to weigh on saturday and it read 180 which is almost 9 pounds lost in 10 days.

I know it's the not eating cuz I'm sick (haven't been fat flushing!)so I'll wait till I feel better and give it a few days before I commit to a new weight.

but I haven't been 180 in many years and it was the only thing that made me smile in several days

Sil thank yo for all your advise. You are so helpful. Your breakie looks good. Never heard of a white peach before. How long have you been on program now?

Sun Drop you are doing wonderful. I am so proud of you. Keep up the great job.

Linda I too am from canada and find it hard to get a lot of the stuff. What day is it for you now on ff? I am on day 6.

I am doing quite well on the ff. I haven't had cravings for a couple of days. I will weigh myself after a week and see how much I have lost. I know that I have come down in weight already. I am trying to stick right to the program with a few planned cheats for the week. Sunday for a treat I had a cup of decaf coffee and a butter tart. Yummy but the coffee didn't taste as good as I thought it would....and I love my coffee. Got tired of waiting for the book from the library and bought one. Sure has a lot of good info in there. Well I hope everyone has a great day.

Hello everyone! I have been lurking here for a while and have been intrigued by your successes so I went out and bought the book and am starting the plan. Hopefully it can jumpstart something for me! The hardest thing for me will be cutting out the diet coke. I am really sleepy today and have it in my mind...if only I could get some caffeine! I will try to stay strong though. I guess it's better than a food craving, right?

Welcome Jacklyn
It's always great to get new new people in the group. What area are you from?

Dee~~~I am on day 18 and have only lost 3 pounds so far. I did have some water weight gain last week with TOM but that is gone now. Although I don't have a huge scale loss, I do see a difference in the mirror and how my clothes fit. Even my DH has been making comments about it, so I'll hang in there for awhile. I am 3 pounds from my goal weight at this time.

Sundrop~~~Glad to see you back this week but I'm sorry to hear that you and your family have been so sick. Please remember to take of yourself along with the little ones and don't forget to drink alot of liquids at this time

I was in such a rush to fix my breakfast this morning (in a hurry to get some painting done outside before it got too hot) and a friend called while I was cooking. It just dawned on me that I didn't eat my slice of Ezekiel bread. OH well !

Everybody keep up the great job :cp:

Sil that is great that you have been on for 18 days. It is nice to be so close to goal.

Well I have to admit today I was feeling kind of quizey most of the day so I had 2 cups of popcorn. After I had that I felt better. I am still hanging in there.

Hi all
I found a coffee substitute and tried it this morning. It's an instant you just mix in hot water called Bambu and I have to say I liked it better than real coffee. How desperate is that?! :D

I have been sort of bound up the past few days but this morning..Woooo- woo....major dumpage. I nearly didn't make it. :o I know, that's more than you needed to know. lol So, I guess the berry smoothies are doing their job. By the way, Sil, I did have a second fruit yesterday. I just forgot to include it. I find having a second smoothie much more satisfying than just a plain fruit, although I did enjoy my wonderful ripe Okanagan peach this morning.

The good news is, before I even had my dump :o :o , I got on my bathroom scale and I was down FIVE POUNDS. Today was Phase I Day 5 so I'm really happy with those results. I really didn't expect to be down as I was feeling so bloated.

Nice to see everyone else posting. I will try to catch up with personal responses but when you're active in three different forums, it's hard to keep up with everything. I do read all the posts though.

I'm still having trouble getting used to no salt. All the herbs and spices in the world just don't make up for the lack of it. But, I will persevere. Hopefully, one of these days I won't notice that my food all tastes like wet cardboard.

wow! Linda, that's a great result! I finally ordered the book, so I'll be that much closer to starting......I need to get all of the "supplements" and other stuff, but I'm going to start cutting out the caffeine and dairy this week....

2BFIT1

WOW Linda !!!What great results :cp: :dancer: Good for you, gal!!! Unfortunately bloating and constipation tend to be an issue on this diet, so it's good for us to share our "stories". Hoorah for the dump :cb: I also had that problem but as soon as I started taking magnesium it was corrected. Now, if I can only correct the bloating with TOM I would be a happy camper :)

By the way, Linda, I saw the post about sea salt on iVillage. So why not mix alittle sea salt in a shaker with some Mrs.Dash?

And, what's in the Bambu?

Dee~~~I have to admit that I also gave in to my popcorn craving  last night. Unfortunately, I ALWAYS gain at least 1 pound of water by the next morning. So I'm trying to drink more liquids today to flush it out. I'll see what the damage is on my next weigh-in (I weigh on Mondays).

Jihan~~~I'm glad that you got the book because there is so much info in it. You are doing the right thing by eliminating some of the foods now before you really begin FF. :D

Everybody keep up the good work and don't forget to drink your cranwater!!

If i'm doing atkins right now, am i going to gain weight back when i switch to the fat flush? did anyone else do this switch?

Linda wow that's great. I also lost 6 pounds in the first 3 days. Some of that was fluid retention I think because it was that time of the month.
Jihan since I bought the book I see that there is so many more options than what I have read. For me it made a world of difference.
Sil something that I like to eat is the salsa recipe from the book. The mexicans make it that way and we have been making it for years. The other thing that I do different is add a can of tuna. Yummy. I also learned that in Mexico. Just a thought for adding variety.

Hello everyone!!

Sil~I am currently in northwest GA, about a couple of hours from Athens. I dont know about you but I'm ready for fall...this heat is a killer!

Well I'm on day 3, I must confess that I went off the program last night. My problem is that I get sooo hungry in the afternoon. I am going to try to fit in a snack around 3 or so, so I will be strong till supper. I have dropped 3 lbs. though..even with the slip up. So I woke up today motivated and ready to go!! I thought the hardest thing for me would be the diet coke however, with all this cranwater, I find that I really havent been missing it. I think salt is the biggest obstacle for me, but I'm working on it.

Hope everyone has a great day! Congrats on your losses!

I was so inspired by all the posts I read a week or so ago about Fat Flushing that I went out and bought the book and all of the appropriate food and supplements.

I have been on it just over a week now and my first week I lost 7 lbs. I like the idea mentioned of taking a day off each week and that is what I am doing. I think it makes it much easier to stick to something so strick and I don't think it hampers your weight loss too much. If anything, as long as you get right back on the next day, I would think it would keep your body from adapting to it and lowering your set point.

Thanks Sil for the tip on the tip on flax seed oil needing to be stirred up. I now keep my bottle upside down in the fridge and then just shake it up real good.

Its that TOM and I have taken the last three days off. I have endometriosis and I really battle the pain but should be feeling better in another day so I will be back at it full force.

Good Luck to everyone.

Take Care,
Elle

Welcome Elle ~~~ It looks like you are having great results already. Good for you :cp: Don't ya just hate TOM :p

Jihan~~~I don't know if there is any guarantee on losing weight or gaining weigh on any diet. Everybody is different. Some people cannot lose weight even on Atkins induction. But take a look at Linda. She was on Atkins and just started FF, and she just posted that she has lost 5 # in 5 days.

I guess that I would suggest that if you are having good results on Atkins, then there would be no need to try FF. I would stick with what works for you. But if you are not having good results then what do you have to lose?

Jacklyn~~~3# in 3 days ! That's great :cb: I live about 30 min south-west of Athens and you are right, man it has been hot !!! Yesterday I spent the morning staining some deck stairs. I wanted to finish it today but the heat was just too much. I even have a pool and it was too hot for that too. I love Summer but this is the time of year that I also say "I can't wait for Fall". I'm gonna try to get out there early tomorrow morning.

Dee~~~I'll have to try adding tuna to my homemade salsa. Thanks for the tip :D I just bought some fresh cilantro and roma tomatoes yesterday at the farmers market.

Sundrop~~~I hope you and your family are feeling better :)

Jihan I switched from Atkins to FFP last week and as of Tuesday had lost 5 lb. I'm not going to weigh now until Friday. I was really on a plateau with Atkins so I thought my metabolism needed a jump start. I was even doing a modified Fat Fast on Atkins with no results.

Sil I have used ONLY sea salt for the past couple of years! Do you mean I could have been putting sea salt on my food and it would be OK? Sheeesh! :?: I will have to check that out. BTW, I tried stirring up my flax seed oil but no residue came up from the bottom. It's still really yellow.

Also, you were asking about my coffee. I just checked the ingredients list in my Bambu fake coffee. It has rye, chickory, barley, malted barley, ground figs and acorns. Is all that forbidden? :( Gee, it's only one stinkin' cup a day!

Well, today I was really proud of myself. I took my sister out for her birthday lunch. She had beef fajitas (and enjoyed every mouthful too, the brat) while I had a plain salad with 10 large shrimp on. I asked for sliced lemons instead of salad dressing. Then, having seen me give my sis a birthday pressie, the waitress brought over a HUGE wedge of ice cream cake all decorated with drizzled chocolate and whipped cream. ...and TWO forks!!! I managed to restrain myself and had only a tiny taste on the very tip of the fork. OHGOD it was to DIE FOR!! But I let my sis eat the whole thing. I just kept telling myself I was cleansing my liver. :p
Jacklyn, I have learned that it really helps to have my fruit smoothie mid-afternoon rather than just a piece of plain fruit. It gets me through the mid-day slump. Congratulations on your weight loss.

Elle Good for you. YOu are doing great!

Hello everyone! Well, I dropped another pound so now I'm up to 4# in 4 days. I'm also doing much better, I dont know if I'm getting used to the plan or if I planned my food better yesterday. I did make a point to eat an orange around 3:00 yesterday and that seems to tide me over. That is a good idea about the smoothie though. What kind do you all use? I've seen the soy mix for a smoothie but I haven't come across a mix for a whey shake. I would definitely like to try it. I'm also having trouble finding the Stevia Plus. Hopefully I'll come across it soon. Either way, I really feel that this is something I can stick with! and that is really exciting!!

Hope everyone has a great day!:)

Jacklyn~~~Down another pound!!! Way to go :cp:
I also could not find the Stevia Plus (except at her website). I have noticed that the Stevia in packets (powder) do contain the maltadextrose that she warns against. The plain Stevia liquid from NOW brand does not list maltodextrose, so that is what I'm using. I found this at the health food stores and also at www.vitaglo.com .

Linda~~~Good for you on resisting the B-Day goodies :cp: As far the "one stinking cup of Bambu", I say go for it. :goodvibes

Yesterday, I was craving "something" but not sure what it was. Since I'm past the 2 week Phase 1, I decided to begin to add some of the friendly carbs and see if that helps. Yesterday I had 1/2 sweet potato with dinner :T If it goes well, I may advance to phase 3, where I can finally add some fat free cottage cheese and string cheese. These forms of protein really help stop my food cravings. It's either that or I need to tape my mouth closed :tape:
Also, I'm trying to increase my water consumption by adding lemon :lemon: to my water.

These last few pounds are coming off so slow :snail: but they will come off!

Hey everyone! wow what a lively, losing bunch we are!

well, I'm alive, kids are all better and I'm almost better. this was a harsh cold, I didn't much sleep which made it hard to get better. I co-sleep with my 2 yo and ended up holding him all night for 5 night so he could breathe through his nose.

And I don't take or dispense over the counter drugs. But yesterday DH brought home Dimetappe, dosed the kids up and they both slept through the night! So I feel sort of foolish, maybe I could have saved myself some rough hours. I'll have to think on this one.

Diet, I'm back on today, went shopping yesterday bought some organic decaf coffee, sweet leaf (a stevia with good reviews from friends) and more flax and cranberry. I weighed 181.5 this morning. So i have lost 18.5 pounds since starting FF (though I took 5 days off). I have lost 94 pounds since my highest weight, and I'm feeling pretty good about all of this.

I'm adding cottage cheese in this week.
Well, my little guy is pulling on me and wailing,
gotta go.

Sil so how was that sweet potatoe? I hope you enjoyed it.

Just a quick hello. Still OP and still not thrilled about the lack of flavour in the food even with the addition of Mrs Dash and other herbs/spices. But, I will continue as long as it continues to work.
The one thing I DO enjoy is my fruit smoothies. I make them with two heaping tablespoons of plain whey protein from the bulk section at the health food store. I also mix in my flaxseed oil if I haven't used it for a salad. Today I made a peach smoothy with a fresh peach. I crushed up some ice to make it nice and cold, added a dash of vanilla and cinnamon and it was really yummy. I did find some Designer Whey at the HFS the other day, chocolate flavour but after rereading some of the posts at the FFP website at ivillage.com I've been having second thoughts about trying it until I'm in Phase 3...if that ever happens.
ALSO, on rereading the book (it's amazing what you miss the first time around isn't it?) I learned that we can add extra protein if we feel it's necessary. Personally, I think I could use extra FAT but I'll settle for protein. I think it will help me through this first bit when I feel so tired.
Tomorrow is my WI at WW. I know, it seems ridiculous. This is the second weight loss plan I've been on since quitting WW but I still have some prepaid coupons for it so I may as well go and use their scales. I don't stay for the meetings very often though. I just find all their motivational jabber not relevant to what I'm doing now.
Do any of you journal faithfully? Not just your menus, but feelings and reactions to foods, etc? It seems to be an important part of FFP but I'm a bit leery about baring my soul in writing. you never know who's going to pick it up and read it. :o Funny, but I have no qualms at all about blabbing ALL to you folks.

Hello everyone! Good news for me, down another pound today, so that is 5# in 5 days. I cant even remember the last time that has happened. Probably back in my high school starvation days. Good morning!
Starting to feel like myself again...
Ate On Plan yesterday, was stuffed all day, funny how some days are like that. How am i going to eat all that food???
Other days I'm starving.
I just made a big batch of deviled eggs (hope DH and DD don't eat them all before I need them)
And I'm trying to come up with more fat flush friendly recipes, I am so tired of chicken and turkey.

Linda- I love my smoothies too. I'm a fan of the praline flavor in Designer whey, it's excellent with a cup of blue berries. Sounds like you made a peach melba shake. Over in the low carb forum a search will reveal an excellent thread on shake recipes. I printed it out and have made some really good ones.

I made a big pitcher of rasberry lemonade- just blended lemon water with a half cup of fresh raspberries and then strained it and added stevia. It's really good stuff! I'm thinking I could use my ice cream maker to make a sort of "ice" from these same ingredients or a use egg whites to make a sorbet.

Oh and I lived in Athens, graduated from UGA, where I met/fell in love with my DH, it's a special place to us. We had to really agonize about moving to Asheville NC or back to Athens when we decided we neede to bug out of Atlanta about a year ago. I think we made the right choice, we are sort of in our post bar-hopping days at this point...

Ok gotta run!

I had my official LAST WI at WW this morning. I had a prepaid plan there so continued to go long after I switched to Atkins and then to FFP. According to their scale I lost 3.5 lb this past week, which is pretty good in my opinion. From now on I'll be weighing in on my own home scale which showed a better one week result. 6 lb. Oh well. I can live with 3-1/2. :)
Sundrop, I think I read somewhere on the FFP website that we're not supposed to use the Designer Whey Praline or Chocolate but, of course, if you are in Phase 3 , it's probably fine for you.
Gotta run. I'll check in later.
