I had a very quite weekend whilst dh had a very hectic one on Adelaide.
I have learnt lots from my course so now it is Practice, Practice and more Practice:rolleyes:
I had a haircut on Fridaynight and it is quite short, I like it. One more haircut and we are going home:cb:
I am counting the days/weeks in all sorts of way, 2 more weeks at work, 1 more haircut but what it really means is that we leave here around October 17.
Hope you all had a great weekend, I am going to check what the changes are of the new board.
Cheers

Well I had a bit of a look around but cannot find too much different other than the 'buddy list'. I have added you all to my buddy list and I now wonder if we are on-line at the same time we can 'talk' to each other???
I will keep 3FC open and who knows someone might come and 'talk' to me :D:D:D

Hi all: Well the worst is over. Now I just have that lovely yellow shade that comes as bruises fade. :fr: :cp: :stress: Tomorrow I go and get the stitches out. The most remarkable thing for me is that there has been no pain. Swelling and bruising, but no pain. Two days with ice packs, and I have listened to a lot of audio books.
when the whole procedure was over the Dr. said "look at me" I did so and he said "you are going to like this' So sounds good to me.:cp: It is worth is already as I no longer am looking through eyelashes. My 'jagged curtain' is gone.
Right now the hard part is not to respond to the itching, so I know I am healing well.
Hello to you all, and hope your week-end was good. Will get back on schedule next week. I am afraid to get on the scales as my dh did the cooking for 3 days and he is not points concious.:D: Hope to check back tomorrow. Ann

:cp: Good for you Ann
You will be feeling and LOOKING like a new woman. I have a friend who has talked about getting the same procedure done for the last couple of years. I will tell her how well everything went for you. :)
Maria you are like my grandchildren. When they are looking forward to something they count the number of "sleeps". AHHH if I were you, I would be doing the same thing. :)
The party is over, I'm going back to WW tomorrow and see if I can't get this weight off. I haven't done a very good job on my own, so it's time.

I just made myself a nice Mocha Coffee and came here to see what is new. I have been reading pretty faithfully, but just never got around to posting. The longer I didn't post, the harder it was to jump back in. We have had a really lovely summer. I feel better lately than I have for around 7 years. Hubby and I took a couple of trips, one to Lake of the Woods, a beautiful resort area and the other into the USA. We did some day trips too. We had family visiting, and generally enjoyed all the beautiful weather. We also have some pretty wonderful news... we will be Grandparents come Dec. I can't tell you how happy we are about that. DD is doing great! We have been shopping for maternity and baby things, and had so many long talks. It has brought back so many precious memories of when she was a baby. I saved a couple of my DD special baby things and gave them to her the first time I saw her after the news. She was so pleased.
Slavika and I got together on Sat and we made WW bracelts... two each...we plan to wear them both at the same time thus allowing 60 points... :D ..think it will work?
Ann I am glad that the surgery is over for you, and that it went well. You did the right thing.
It sure was nice reading about you and your busy lives these last few months. I am glad everyone is doing well. I am glad to be "back" and will be posting .:dancer:
..bye for now... Trudy

Ann: So glad the surgery went well! The bruises should go away fast. Your so brave. Im really a chicken when it somes to my eyes.
Slavika: I didnt know you quit going to WW. You will get it back off you always do!
Trudy: Good to see you! I want one of those 60 pts bracklets :dancer: They do sound cute. Should be easy to make from the picture I saw. Just might have to try it.
Had a nice quite weekend for a change. Didnt really do nothing but be lazy. :moo:

Got the stitches out this a.m. Now I don't feel all the itching.
The Dr. doesn't want to see me for 5 weeks. My only restricition
is to not rub my eyes. Now that makes a lot of sense to me.
Trudy: So glad to hear from you. Glad your summer was good and that you are feeling well. Congrats on the coming granchild. such
fun to make Grandma plans.
Maria: I can surely understand why you are counting the sleeps
until you can get home. I do hope for your sake is that India isn't in your future. That doesn't sound like an appealing place to me at all.
Lily: I don't like anyone fooling with my eyes, and I always hated those pressure tests for glaucaoma. But somehow this was different. Of course they gave me 2 valium, before the local:dz:  so I suppose not too much mattered, but it was not at all what I thought.
Slavika: I've got to get back on track too. The continual; struggle to maintain once the goal has been reached. The vacation fun has to go. I'm afraid that my DH cooking for this past week didn't do much for my program.
Glenda: I think you were the one who recommended the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding. We went this p.m. as I was suffering from cabin fever. What a great movie, a lot of laughs and such a pleasure to see a movie with no violence, no bad language, just fun. I loved the scene where the stuffy parents got introduced to the ouzo:lol: Hope you are surviving the new work conditions.
Peggy: Are you going to make the WW bracelets? I didn't have any luck finding the picture on ebay. What should I put in the search to find them?
Karen: Still working too hard? Hope things are going well for you.
Bye for now. Ann

G'day all,
Well I bought myself some cheap scales yesterday, nothing fancy. I have been telling myself that I would not have put on any weight but the last week or so it has been nagging in the back of my mind that I should really confirm that by actually stepping on some scales:fr:
I am what you call an apple shape, elasticide waists are a must :D, elastic stretches beautifully and can leave you pretending all is well.
Well dh stepped on the scales and was fairly well what he expected but MOI a different story:fr: :sp:
So here I am this morning with all my WW books, a new 'Australian Slimming' magazine, celery and carrots for morning tea, some soup for lunch and 2 pieces of fruit for the rest of the day until I get home. I haven't worked out how many points this will be and how much I wil have left for dinner tonight but it will be the first thing I do after I posted.
Told DH NOT to bring home treats as this is now really serious. I really feel I must get in control NOW, you can imagine what will happen when we get back home catching up with friends etc.:dizzy:
I feel sure some of my health problems, back etc. willl improve if I get rid of some weight. Can you also imagine living in a hot country like India carrying access weight? :stress:
I am off working out my points and reading my magazine for some additional motivation.
Cheers

As I am reading my 'Slimming Australia' magazine I cam across this website
http://www.fitness2live.com.au.
I have had a bit of a look around and it seems quite good but you MUST pay $66 to be able to use some of the great things they have here.
Seeing it is not possible for me to attend WW, I thought this maybe allright.
If any of you get a chance, could you have a look and let me know what you think?
Cheers and thanks

Well today Slavika and I returned to WW. It was a small group, and the message was about eating due to urges and cravings.. something we all have experienced. Actually it felt quite good sitting in our "old" spot. We got there early to re-claim our seats.. we are truly creatures of habit. I am at goal right now, but that was not the case for most of the last 8 months. I had gained 3 lbs, then another 3, and when I got to 8 lbs I was so angry with myself. I managed to get 2 lbs off but the other 6 were just clinging to me. In June I was to see my Dr. for my usual aches and pains and she thought that some of the abdominal pain I had could be due to Adhesions from my Appendix surgery when I was 21. So I came home and did some searches on the Internet and found that the scar tissue can attach itself to the intestines and muscle and make a persons life quite miserable. One of the suggestions was to eat a diet LOW in fiber, quite the opposite of what I have been doing. So, I cut way back on the amount of fiber. The excruciating pain is diminished, my hiatial hernia hardly bothers me, but the big payoff was that my weight started to drop. My Dr and the Gastrointestinal specialist both said I should eat a high fiber diet, and WW promotes it. I have no idea why it was giving me so much grief, but I am someone who just can't tolerate it. Too bad it took so long for me to figure it out.
Maria I wasn't able to access the site, I will try again later. It is so frustrating the way the weight comes back on so easily. There "otta be a law".
Ann you sure didn't have stitches in that long. Are your eyes sore?
Lily is the 50 60 site with the recipes a thing of the past? I think that I printed out most of them. Actually I went there first and then to the message board.
Slavika made Rhubarb Crisp for Tea Time.. it was delicious. I  rhubarb, but my DH doesn't like it at all, so if I bake with it, I have to eat all of it myself. Thanks Slavika. :) We talked non-stop 3hrs and 45 min.. and still didn't cover everything we wanted to say.
Thanks for all the congrats on the impending Grandparenting...
:D .. it is a very exciting time for us.
It was a beautiful day, hope you all had a good one too.

Hi Everybody
Trudy and I both agreed it was nice getting back to WW. A lot of the gals took the summer off sort like we did, because the group was small. It's hard coming into town if you are away at the lake or on holidays but school will be starting soon, and I bet the meetings will be packed again.
Maria I too tried to go to the addy you supplied us with, but it comes up as an "error". I really laughed at your story about getting on the scale....and yes those elastic waist pants tend to grow with us. When I was just a young woman in my 20's and probably weighing all of 115# I had a cousin who was very over weight. Well one day when I was visiting my Mother, she was making home made deep fried donuts with a honey glaze, that to this day I don't think I have ever tasted anyting that good. This was a true specialty of hers. Well the over weight cousin stopped in to visit with my Mom and Dad and a short while later we all sat down to tea and these to die for donuts. I really can't remember anymore how many she ate  but lots of them. I remember I looked over at my Dad who was a big man, and he could not believe how many she was eating. Anyway.....Dad says to her, "Olga, I think it's time you quit eating those donuts before you explode". She said to him, "oh Uncle, look I have lost soooo much weight I can afford to eat a "FEW" donuts", as she pulled at the elastic waist of her pants to show us how much room she still had left. :D
Today's WW meeting was about cravings, boy what I wouldn't give for one of those donuts my Mom used to make. I did try (what I thought was the recipe she used, but they were NEVER even close to hers)
 Maybe that's a good thing.
Ann glad that you are doing ok. I bet you will really notice a difference in your appearance as well as how well you see.
Lily I guess I never really thought I ever QUIT WW, I just sort of put it on hold for a bit. :D
I always knew I would be going back.

Just a quick reply. Stitches from Wed. to following Monday. Guess that is routine. No pain at all, only a little healing itching. Still a bit of yellow and purple as the fading continues. But I am beginning to look like I belong to the human race again. DH took me out to eat tonight, and I didn't have to wear my incognito sunglasses, and I was good and had fish. I'm with you Maria, I need to get serious. Made my 1.5 oatbran muffins today. But they wouldn't be good for you Trudy. Too much fiber. See you tomorrow. Ann

3 posts in one day!!!!!
Sorry about the link I posted, I cannot get in it myself now:( I got the address from my Slimming Magazine. I will try again tomorrow.
I loved the story about the donuts Slavika:D  what a scream. Isn't it amazing how we tell ourselves some ridiculous lies. I can 'see' the two (you and Trudy) of you at WW, nice to have company, I hope sitting back in your old seats will bring you luck and the weight will be gone in no time.
Trudy how interesting your experience regarding fibre, it just goes to show that we have to work out what is best for ourselves. It is good to share experiences and I am really pleased to hear that you are feeling so much better.
Ann good to hear your eyes are getting better. I'll be very interested in time to come how cosmetically your eyes now look. I know you had it done for medical reasons but the side effect of looking great as well would have to be a bonus. :)
Something else, yesterday I bought yet another bottle of moisteriser, it was out for half price, some french brand, smelling very nice indeed. As I was going through all my potions this morning, it went through my mind 'am I the only one that never seems to finish a bottle of moisteriser/blusher/foundation/lipstick' etc. etc.???? I always seem to be sucked in by some sort of promotion (mainly the half price variety;) ).
My new eating habits are faring well so far today :)
See you tomorrow

Maria: It looks like a realy good web site. You can sign up for free but dont get the fitness plans or the diet plan. Thats really all you pay for. Didnt like the statement I read if you asked 3 questions it cost 14$. the 66$ a year isnt much but you dont really get to much for it.
I wouldnt use the meal planner as I do my own. I would sign up for the free and see if you really think it would be worth the $ to get the other.
Trudy: Wow Im glad you found out want was finally going on. Who would of thought it was the fiber. But at least now you know. Bet it is a relif to finally find out and get rid of that pain to! I will get the site back up. My sisters site crashed a while ago and I just havent had the time to get it back up. But I will this weekend.
Slavika: Funny story about your cousin. I had a neighbor like that!
Ann: Glad you are getting back, sounds like the brusies are going away to.
Heres Marias Site, she just had a Period at the end so it gave the error.

Maria I went to the fitness site and it is very interesting. I first read "Lift Weights To Lose Weight". I have a membership at a great fitness facility. My favorite classes are the aerobic/weight . Since I started lifting the weights I have toned up some. They always tell us that our Resting Metobolic Rate burns energy when sitting or sleeping because of the weight lifting. I usually do this 3 x a week. I intend to go through the rest of the site. I didn't start to do any type of exercise until 1996, and that was because a friend nagged me into it. She did me a big favor. I could put my membership on hold during the summer months, but I don't because I want to be able to go when I am in the city.
It's funny how we change.
When it comes to bottles of moisturizer, sample lipsticks, blush, etc I have two boxes full, especially in Clinique. That is my favorite brand. I give a lot of it to my DD because I just can't use it all. I just can't pass up a deal
Lily .. I have always gone to your site first and then to the message boards, so I miss it. Of course going to 3fc first is good too because then I find out what is going on. For instance, the points in a Bloomin' Onion.. OUCH! (our friend Slavika loves them and has it when they are in the US at the Outback Restaurant.)
Ann I have "The Street Lawyer" by John Grisham now.. very good. I am just listening to it at the gym, and thoroughly enjoying it. Iv'e listened to some really good ones lately, The Shipping News, Shock,The Rescue, The devil's Teardrop. What one do you have now?
My hubby turned 65 a couple of weeks ago. Today was our very first Senior's Appreciation Day at Safeway. We got $15.00 off our bill... :D ...the joys of getting old

G'day all,
Here I am on day 2 of my new start on this weight loss journey. On my walk to work this morning I was planning my day and I know it will be another good day.
Lily Glad you put us straigth on the website but please tell me what you mean by 'period', that is a new term to me.
The experts that give advice on the website are just about all well known and respected Australian identities in their field of nutrition, excercise, weightloss, weight gain etc. I agree with you that the cost is a bit steep $14 for 3 questions but I guess if you were to see these people in their private practice you would be paying much, much more.
I have decided to get out of the site as much as I can and put the joining on hold for a little while. It may be really useful when we find ourselves in a foreign country.
I was reading up about Mumbai (Bombay) yesterday and I have to say the climate is not a real turn on, very tropical climate being hot all year round:( I was also reading about what to avoid when there, amongst a number of common sense things like not buying food from street stalls and not drinking the water, it also said to avoid eating salads as invariable they have been washed in contaminated water and will cause you to be sick.
Trudy I have at different times done weight training and I really like it but again with my lifestyle it is a bit difficult. Once we are home for good I want to go to Yoga and get back into weight training. I used to really enjoy doing 'pump classes' at my local gym. In the meantime the easiest excercise for me is to walk and I do that every day to and from work, which is a 25 minute walk each way.
Goodness being a senior in Canada gives you substantial savings, good for you:)
Can someone enlighten me what are they and what is so good about 'Bloomin Onions' I have never heard of them, perhaps just as well seeing the points value :dizzy:
I am reading the memoirs of an Australian journalist at the moment, it is a very interesting book, you never quite realise how they put their lives on the line to get their stories.
Have a great day/night all
Cheers
Maria

Trudy: The site is back as it was. Same place, your bookmark should work. If it doesnt let me know. Sorry, I didnt get it back sooner. Didnt think anybody used it, so I wasnt in a hurry. Her site crashed over a month ago and she couldnt put it back as it was on my puter. Bad me.
Maria: Period meant that you had a . at the end of the url. Here it means, that you end a Statement with a period (.) And then start a new one. When I see that in a URL I think of it as a statement. Its not correct, but when you see URLS all day long it becomes that to me :)
And dont get me wrong, that site was excellent! Had a lot of great and useful information. I just dont like paying for something that isnt tanible to me. I have before and havent gotten what I thought it was. So I am very leary.
I have that site bookmarked as it did have some great info. Printed off a lot of the weight lifting exercises, as thats what Im trying to do right now. I just dont like paying for something I dont know about. And I have found to many times you dont get what you think you are getting on the internet. Just me. Spend so much time seeing so many things, and everyone is out there to make a $. This is just my opinion.
You need to do what you feel is right for you. And only you can make that decision.
Trudy

Thanks Lily ... it worked.. now everything is as it should be for me.. Also, when I go to your site I don't get any annoying windows opening up with it. Have you read these 2 books by Miriam E. Nelson, Ph.D.... "Strong Women Stay Young", and "Strong Women Stay Slim"? They are excellent books about women of a certain age using weights. I first took them out of my local library, found them to be very informative and then bought my own copies.
Maria ... actually Slavika is the one who could fill you in on the delights of a Bloomin' Onion. They are a speciality of The Outback restaurant in the US. I never tasted one, but did see a few float by me when we were in the restaurant. They are absolutely huge and look like a chrysanthemum.
.... by the way... where is Slavika? :nose: or am I being to nosey. I can't believe how many smilies there are now... can't wait to use more of them. :goodvibes

G'day all,
Aren't they terrific all the new smilies, I will now have to decide which I can post when!
I am with you Trudy I love this one :grouphug: I also agree about the books by Miriam Nelson, they are excellent. she was recently in Australia and was interviewed on various programs, what an interesting woman and what a great advertisement for what she preaches!
Not much longer to go, another Friday has come around albeit a rainy one:rain:
DH and I are going to try and go home earlier than October 17, maybe as early as the end of September, you can imagine I am on :cloud9:
I won't get too excited, just in case it doesn't happen.
Lily It is a pity we have all grownm so weary of so many things. I have been going to the chiro 2x a week, I am sure you would know the expense involved:faint: . I have been getting really quite good and said I was only coming once a week, he disagreed and said I would go backwards, surprise, surprise I now have a very bad hip. I am now wondering why. I went yesterday and told him very firmly that I would only come once a week, he backed down and said he 'could work with that'.
My hip is a lot better today.
Yes and I agree we have all been taken for a ride and received something which was a lot less than anticipated or what we thought we paid for.
This morning I was told at work to write out a letter of introduction/reference for myself and the CEO will sign it :cp: When we are in foreign countries I have been told that the Australian Embassy will probably be able to put me to some good use, so I will not be :ziplip: or be :tied: or be :snooty: but be very :halffull: and have lots of these in the letter:goodvibes
What an opportunity to take advantage of the new smilies
Have a great weekend all
Cheers

Hi all,
This has been a very stressful time for me. Have been looking for another location for one of my Tuesday groups.:stress: Not an easy trick in these small towns. We have found one I think but I'm going to have to change to a Friday meeting because it's the only day this place has open. My problem has been looking for handicap accessible. There are several ladies in that group that are very heavy and I would hate for them to fall. Also some have had the knee replacements are just recovering. The past few weeks have just been nothing but worry about that meeting and then there is my DD. Things are about the same there. Her DH is putting forth the effort. but time will tell.:ziplip:
Have bought a new Sofa sleeper for the living room. The one I had was Queen and way to big for my little house. Now I have a double size and it fits so nice. The only thing is the pillows that came with it have fish on them Yuk!:censored: So now I am in the market for sofa pillows. The sofa is Blue (is there any other color?:D ) Tomorrow I will have the news as to how much carpeting is going to run for the living room hallway and half of the bathroom. The gal who came over for the measuremnts told me that it was a very messy job. but it will only take one day. Think I'll arange to be out of town. I just hate stuff like that. I love the results but not the mess that goes with it.:?:
Sound like yu all have been busy. I'm like Trudy been reading but just haven't taken the time to post. By the way Trudy nice to see you back. Glad to hear that both you and Slavika are back to meetings. Maria Glad you've take steps to lose those unwanted pounds too. Ann I agree vacation pounds are tough ones to lose sometimes. I loved this weeks meeting. Did you leaders tell you that the urge to eat is just and urge NOT an ORDER! Loly how you doing with your weight. Still hanging in there?
Got to go o bed see you all later:yawn:

:grouphug: Hi Everybody. I just love all these new smilies.:)
I forget, how many are we allowed per post? :?:
Maria those "bloomin Onions" are quite wonderful and when we were in Maui last year we had it a couple of times. We shared it among four people the first time and the second time DH and I ate it ALL ourselves. After that, we split a hamburger (to make up for eating the whole oinion). When the hamburger arrived it was not cooked properly so we returned it and to make up that they gave us a free dessert. :yikes: it was a piece of some kind of mile high chocolate pie that could have fed a family four for a week. We ate the WHOLE thing. No wonder I'm not at goal weight. The bloomin onion is cut like a radish flower and then dipped in a batter and deep fried. It's served with a dipping sauce.
I went to a funeral today for my cousin's husband. My DH was not able to go so I went with my brother, my sil couldn't get the time off from her job. The funeral was sad, but it was nice spending some time with my brother. My grandbabies are back from the lake so I will be seeing them both tomorrow and having them here for lunch. :chef:
Lily I received an e-mail from Glenda and she can't seem to get on 3FC so I told her to go the same route that Trudy uses through the site you set up for us. That's why she has not posted for so long.
Well gang, it's late and I am really tired. :sheep: Night all.
P.S. Hi Karen I saw your post after I had posted. You have been busy. Yes that's what our meeting was about this week too. Actually getting back to WW was sort of like going home, and Trudy and I always have a good time together and it doesn't seem to matter what we are doing.

Took me a while to find my way here. I forgot my password. Trudy it is so good to see you active again. Missed hearing from you. Congrats on being a granny. Laughing at you and Slavika trying to get away with wearing 2 WW bracelets. Wish it could work that way. I looked at beads but couldn't decide which kind to use. Such major decisions. Maria a Bloomin' Onion is bloomin' good. We very seldom go to the Outback and there is one real close up the road. It always has too long a wait. We just had a Panera Bagel open up near here. Love that place too. Ann good to hear that you are healing and can see. That is good news. Been busy doing general stuff that never gets done and seems to take so much time. Have to clean around here today. My youngest son was working a soccer tournament last week. A thunderstorm came up and lightening struck a pond and sent up ground shocks. 5 people were hurt and he was one of them. They had the kids off the fields and he was running across the field to help a woman who was down. He had just finished helping load someone in an ambulance. He was knocked out and has hurt his knee. He works for docs and a physical therapy place so that helps. It was a scary thing. We had to go get his car. He lives in timbuctu and the field was in east timbuctu. In other words way, way across town. Laundry time,

Trudy: No I havent read them. I will look for them this weekend. I need all the help I can get! I got another one that I cant remember the name of cuz it had pictures of how to do your form for lifting. Its helped some but not alot. :barbell:
