I will move your post into the SugarBusters forum - you will get lots of help there. queentheresa61 08-16-2002, 07:50 PM How do I get to the SB forum or will they come to me?! Thanks for replying Zanne 08-16-2002, 09:47 PM If you scroll down from here, near the bottom of the page, there is a button that says "forum Jump". When you click and hold, you will see a long list of all the forums. Go to the Weekly Support Board under Sugarbusters and people will help you there for sure. Just jump in and ask your questions. I post there once a week or so, and everyone is great at answering questions. There are also informationa and FAQ boards under SugarBusters where you might get some answers too. The Sugarbusters book was vague at times and I find that other books that describe a low glycemic index diet can contradict stuff other books have said. This site also helps explain things: www.prettyimpressivestuff.com/sugarbusters/ I have been doing SB for nearly a year. I am not perfect and am slowly changing my habits. I haven't lost much poundage but have lost a lot of inches. I find I feel much better when I don't eat all the processed junk and sugar. My blood pressure is also better than it was a year ago. Basically it is eating foods that are low on the glycemic index. No white flour, no sugar/honey/ molasses, no bananas, watermelon or pineapple, no corn or corn products. It's eating food that will take longer to digest than the processed fast food we're used to. I'm probably not much help in describing this way of eating, but like I said, just jump in on the weekly support board to get an answer and/or look up stuff on the other boards. Good luck and maybe I'll see you on the boards. cherylco 08-20-2002, 10:39 PM Zanne I think you pretty much covered it! Debelli 08-21-2002, 08:17 AM QUEEN, please do join us on our weekly support board as mentioned above, we'd love to help you out!!:D Another great site to learn about SB in a nutshell is: http://www.prettyimpressivestuff.com/sugarbusters I have been on SB for almost 2 1/2 years, it's a great WOE (way of eating) and I highly recommend it! If you need any help, feel free to contact me via e-mail @ Debelli@AOL.COM Debbie JoAnn 08-31-2002, 09:45 AM Hello Queen, I am new at the Sugar Busters also. It is not an easy diet to understand, especially, if you are like me and have been on a LOT of different diets. :( The others.....there seemed to be something to guide you like either how many calories, fat grams, carbs, points etc. But, this one has nothing for a guideline, as far as I can see? :( I am basically cutting out all WHITE "stuff". No white potatos, no white rice, no white pasta, no white bread, no cookies and no deserts of anykind. And then I am substituting those once in a while with the legal kind. I have found a Sugarless bread by Natures' Own at most grocery stores, here in Texas. Once in a while I will have a small yam or whole wheat pasta or brown rice. Other than that........it appears to me SB is basically low fat protein, veggies, and couple of legal fruits a day. I am losing slowly, but I guess that is better than not at all? :) Maybe, I will keep it off this way? :D Do read the sites the others have mentioned. Actually, those are better than the book. I thought the book had a lot to "be desired". For instance............the 14 day menu in the book is not for losing but for maintaining your weight. They have no menus for the ones who want to lose weight. They really need to rewrite the book as far as I am concerned! :dizzy: Queen feel free to e-mail me and maybe we 2 newbies can walk each other through SB. JoAnnAtkinson@Juno.com Jo Ann in TEXAS JADCIE 11-12-2002, 01:00 AM Are the cookies I see advertised that are like a dollar each and have to be ordered at the price of $60 a case part of this plan? That seems sort of steep. I am not familiar with this plan but thought about trying to find the book. Debelli 11-12-2002, 11:08 AM JADCIE, I wouldn't not only touch those cookies as they are really disgusting tasting, but the price is ridiculous! I suggest you go to your local library and get the SB BOOK along with a book called EAT YOURSELF SLIM by Montignac to learn more about this WOE. There is nothing special you need to buy to follow this WOE, and it's one you can do indefinitely. Please feel free to join us on our WEEKLY SUPPORT BOARD to ask any other questions you may have, we'll be happy to reply! Debbie :) That's what I like about it! Back in 2000 I went to my doc to talk about weight management and SB is what he recommened because it fit my criterion: a) easy; b) healthy; c) something I could stay on for life. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
