Wake up sleepy heads! Today is my first day of P2! There are no suitable P2 things in the house yet. I should have some stuff by Monday even if I have to use my shopping money to get it! I pay Mom/Dad a little money for me to still live in their home, lol. I am determined to reach goal, then maintenance this time around. Life is going well. I once had a bad relationship with my parents but it's improving. I'm gonna have a job interview next week. God is good.
P.S. next time I take it upon myself to get us started, I'll remember that Saturday and Sunday are under Weekend Chat.
01-17-2010, 06:47 AM
FoodObsessed, you are one heck of an early riser! No problem with Sat/Sun chat. It used to be very quiet in here on the weekends with few posts but now we have a bunch of clucking chickies.
Woke up too darned early but didn't get up until now. The dogs were super happy to see me this morning for some reason and went charging out the door. Maybe the mild spell is making them think spring.
Dinner at my sister's last night was good and we caught up on a lot of news. She's off to Hawaii and then Vancouver for a week or so. Sometimes I'm really envious but I try to just enjoy vicariously. Hawaii sounds pretty good right now.
Church this morning, some financial stuff to finish up and then the day is mine. I just might watch a film on the DVD or run into town for an ironing board. I've been procrastinating on that niggle for a while!
Of course, since it's Sooper Dooper Sunday, I should make soup!
Come and chat. :cofdate:
01-17-2010, 07:00 AM
Morning all. My eyes popped open at 4:30, so I guess I'll join the party, coffee in hand!!
Obsessed, good for you for completing p1 ! Now it's time to test. Just take it slow adding foods and you should be on your way to a long healthy life. Glad you and your parents have a good relationship now. I treasure my kids (all grown!) and could not imagine not having them in my life.
Ruth, sounds like you had fun last night! I wish my sister was closer so we could get together more than once or twice a year. She may be bringing my Mom to visit this summer...can't wait!
Me, nothing much today. It's still nasty and rainy, but I have to go to the grocery store anyway. Other than that, just have to work on a couple of powerpoints and play with the wii! Got all my tests graded yesterday and the house cleaned and did a couple of beginning of the week powerpoints, so I can kind of relax today. Off of school tomorrow and my husband is off too, so I want to go see "Young Victoria" if it is playing locally.
Speaking of my new wii friend, I am kinda sore this morning...didn't think I would be since I go to the gym every day....wrong!! That's a good thing, cause now I know what I'm not working at the gym.
Have a great day everyone!
01-17-2010, 07:37 AM
Thanks Ruth/femmecreole. I have been more involved on this website and it's helped me alot.
01-17-2010, 08:35 AM
Cyndi, I should keep track of the birds I see. Watching birds is fun!
FO, You are up WAY too early! :) As you get older, you will cherish your relationship with your parents, I promise.
Ruth, It's wonderful that you are close to your sister. I miss my sister. You should go to Hawaii with her!
Cat, Have you seen in the news the need for Creole speaking interpreters in Haiti? Do you speak Creole?
Atlanta, It's been way too long since I've had an adventure!
Me: If it's not raining, we are going to the flea market this morning. I haven't been this month because it's been frigid -- less than 25*! Heck, the vendors don't show up when it's that cold!
Auston spent the night with his cousin Shepard last night. He always comes home with great stories. Shepard's mother is not a cook. She fixes lots of pre-made things for dinner. Last time Auston went, she made those little square pizza roll things. He informed her, "That's not pizza!" :D
Hope someone has an adventure this weekend! Tell me about it! :)
01-17-2010, 08:40 AM
:coffee: Good morning!
It's going to be a Sooper Dooper Soaker Sunday here. Rain, rain, and lots of it. At least it's mild enough not to turn into ice.
FoodObsessed, you are quite the Early Bird! Congratulations on completing Phase 1! Now you are starting the serious weightloss that will stay with you the rest of your life. :carrot: Remember to add your grains and fruit slowly, and you'll be setting yourself up for success. Good luck!
Ruth, I'm glad you were able to enjoy dinner with your sister last night. Were they able to ski? Have fun shopping for a new ironing board. Are you able to get one that you can install on the back of a door?
Cat, I'm still procrastinating on getting a Wii. I'm glad you're enjoying yours so much. Have fun at the movies, if you go!
I think it's going to be a quiet day around here. I WILL go visit Mom & Dad this morning, and the kids are coming for chicken & dumplings later. I'm making a baked squash casserole for myself, so no trouble staying OP. I've been noticing that my jeans are getting looser, so that's keeping me motivated. :)
01-17-2010, 08:47 AM
Good morning chickies! I was lucky enough to sleep until 7 am...yahoo!
Food Obsessed - YAY for you!! I think it's a great idea, btw, to separate out the weekend days. These ladies here chat so much!!
Ruth - it's odd thinking of you being envious of someone. YOu have such a crazy filled life!! I do agree though, Hawaii would be nice...
Cat - I have to get on the Wii as well. I must admit, I hate the little balance board voice though :D. "You haven't been on here in 5 days."blah, blah, blah. How can I tell him I do other exercises?!? THe stinkin' Wii is giving me a guilt trip!!
Chelby - a flea market sounds like fun!! Your DS story is pretty funny. I know whenever my DS goes to the neighbors, they always fill him up with cr@p. I should be happy it was only mac and cheese yesterday (I didn't ask how many fruit snacks he got though...)
Me - workin' on the kitchen. My DH had a rough day yesterday, he's not a plumber, and learned how to do it all yesterday. But now I have a dishwasher and sink! And I made supper last night!! I have the menu planned out for the week, and look forward to making some of my lentil smoked sausage soup.
Have a great day!
01-17-2010, 08:48 AM
morning ladies...i seem to have a headache today so might be lazy. well except for laundry
01-17-2010, 08:49 AM
Good morning all you early risers:) I've been up and blogging first... chat comes second, then I'll move on to the Sunday paper.
Last night I ate only soup at the restaurant and felt great about it. AND - drum roll here... down almost 2 inches in my waist in just 3 weeks:carrot: (I hadn't intended to measure yet but the urge just came over me while deciding which jeans to try on for dinner out.)
Have a fabulous Sunday everyone.
01-17-2010, 08:50 AM
FABULOUS, waisting time!!!
Good morning cottage!
01-17-2010, 08:52 AM
I'm glad you approve of the weekend chat being separate TwynnB. Maybe I've started a trend. I was always meant to be a leader. I'm getting P2 things today. I am looking for fruits that are wholesome like pears, oranges, strawberries, plums, peaches, pears, etc.
01-17-2010, 08:57 AM
Wow FO you sure get up early! Hope you get to bed early too. Congrats on completing Phase 1. I know you've got all the information you need to sail into Phase 2. Here's a little secret - for most of us maintenance is almost exactly like Phase 2. And hey, you are already a maintainer!
Ruth - Good morning to you and the doggage! An afternoon movie sounds like a great idea. I've been remembering that I can have a small bowl of popcorn and thinking that might be good. Hmm, maybe I'll save that for the impending storm.
Cat - Glad you like your Wii. I do get sore from the lunges though I haven't found most of the workouts too challenging, just fun. My one complaint is that people who haven't taken yoga with an instructor could develop bad form. It's completely wrong on the downward facing dog and insists on a position that puts the wrists at 90 degrees, absolutely wrong and dangerous if you have weak wrists. I just ignore it on that one. What are your favorites so far?
Chelby - Auston was away for the night and you didn't have an adventure?! Not that we need details.... Enjoy the fleas.
We have a storm coming in tonight so I'll be doing weekend chores and getting things in place for that. Something is going in the crockpot, either veggie curry or chili. I'm going to get out for a walk before the storm hits. Don't get a lot of opportunities for that this time of year.
A couple of DW's pics from yesterday, http://juliesmagiclightshow.com/5865.php. The small bird is a Sage Thrasher. It's a Western bird that seems to have gotten lost. No one knows why that happens - might be a storm or the bird got stuck in a cargo car. In any case it's found a source of food at the beach for now. We watched it eating juniper berries. The kestel should be south now but is still hanging around. Actually it just showed up Friday, early or late no one knows :)
Time to make a To Do list. Yesterday was all fun so I didn't even think about shores :)
ETA - Wow, everyone was writing while I was!
Cottage - Congrats on the NSV. Baked squash casserole sounds yummy.
Twynn - Woo hoo, plumbing done! Have fun in the new kitchen. There is a way to log your outside exercise on the Wii. It's always nagging me to do that. I think it would still have abandonment issues though ;)
Me - It's great to see you again. Looking forward to hearing how things are going for you :)
Waisting - Congrats on the NSV and great choices.
01-17-2010, 08:58 AM
Good Morning chickies- Its sunday which is my usual start to the weekend but I volunteered to work from 9-2 today so hopefully I will be busy... then it is off to the gym and then to return a cute sweater dress that I purchased too large...(yeay). hopefully they have some in stock so I can just exchange it instead of paying S&H again! after that a little housework here and there and thats about it! Hope you guys have a great OP day!
01-17-2010, 09:12 AM
Chelby, I get such a kick out of hearing what comes out of Auston's mouth! I'd love to meet him some day. Have a super time at the flea market!
Twynn, I'm glad you're enjoying your new kitchen so much! Have you put up any new pictures on FB yet?
WaistingTime, :cp: Congratulations! You are doing so well!
Cyndi, it sounds like yesterday was a perfect birding day for you. What kind of storm are you getting tonight, rain or snow? We are finally enjoying above freezing temps here, so it's all rain for us.
Rikki, doesn't it feel good to be returning something that's too big, rather than too small? :) I hope they have it in a smaller size for you! Have a nice day at work, and I hope it goes by fast for you.
Breakfast is calling to me, and my coffee mug is empty! I'll see you all later!
01-17-2010, 09:23 AM
Cottage - looks like we might get the whole bag - snow, sleet & freezing rain. Yuck. We had planned to see Avatar in 3D tomorrow and tie it in with a Trader Joe's run but it looks like that will wait until next week.
01-17-2010, 09:27 AM
Hey ladies! Posting from our hotel in Washington, DC. When we arrived yesterday we checked in (Hyatt Regency in Crystal City, VA - got on Priceline for $50 per night), walked up to the Metro and went into the city and took a Trolley Tour just to get our bearings. Then we had dinner at a Brewery in the City and just came back to the hotel and relaxed.
Today it's raining, but we won't melt! We're going to take the Metro back into the city and do the Spy Museum, Smithsonian, and if there are dry spells we'll go to the Lincoln Memorial and the Capital. We want to eat lunch at the Museum of the American Indian, the cafe there is supposed to be great. I've been able to remain OP, although not so able to control the fat intake. I'll post my meals to the OP thread.
01-17-2010, 09:33 AM
Chelby, no, I don't speak Creole, but can figure out "written stuff" kinda ok. I think LA Creole is a little different from Haitian. My family were "city people", so they spoke "formal french". A branch of my family came from Haiti (then San Domigue) after the revolution in the early 1800's. I'm wondering if I have relatives over there now. It's just horrible.
Cyndi, I like just about everything I've tried so far on the wii. I've taken some yoga classes and noticed that the form is not the same, but I enjoy it and it's probably my favorite. I like the step thing too. I'm trying to put together my "program"...but of course I like the games too..but save them till after I've "worked" first.
01-17-2010, 11:10 AM
Good morning everyone,
Just popping in to stay accountable, ate too many grains yesterday and go no workout in either, so watching what I eat today and doing a good workout this afternoon.
I slept in til 8 a.m. wow, so I don't have time for personals I have to go get ready for church
Everyone have a wonderful day and I will try to pop in later.
01-17-2010, 11:31 AM
Actually not much :sunny: here yet, but I do see a hint of blue sky.
FoodObsessed, "Sooper Dooper" Sunday to you, too. I'm really glad you feel good about participating more. I have found it to be the most important part of my staying OP for longer than I ever have. :congrat: on a successful P1.
Ruth, I think the doggies notice the increasing light more than we do. Perhaps their sensitive noses smell the signs of spring, too. We look at the calendar and know the other side of the story. Enjoy your Sunday, whatever it brings.
Cat, have a relaxing day-I'm thinking you're still a football widow.
Chelby, yay! for flea markets! I wish we had one closer. PS-no adventures here, but I do have one coming up.
Hello Cottage AKA Latte Woman, glad to hear you're having great results from staying OP. I have some squash that might just turn into dinner, too.
Twynn, great progress in the kitchen. Ours took such a long time, but it wasn't so bad since we don't have kids or full time jobs! I'm going to try your soup one of these days. I seem to have a list of things to try!
Me4Life, hope that headache goes away soon!
Karen, what impressive numbers on your waistline. I'll chat first, then check out your blog.
Cyndi, pass the thumbs up to Julie on such beautiful pictures! Good on you for getting out for that walk! I'll be so glad when the ice and snow and winter storms are a fading memory. I hope the weather is better for gardening this year.
Rikki, I hope work and exercise pass the time quickly and that your sweater dress exchange works out. I would so love to have a sweater dress, but it will be awhile for me-my middle is just so big!
MMC, I think staying OP is a huge success, even when some of the intake isn't...well...what you would normally do. I'm going to ask you about the hotel again when we are able to plan our trip back East.
Pearlrose, Glad you got to sleep in. I ate too many grains yesterday, too, but it was a far better choice than bon bons!
Me, the day took control yesterday, so I really need to get some chores done before church. I started the dishwasher before I sat down to chat. Another :coffee: is in order, then a major pick up. I'm constantly amazed that we can trash the house so quickly! I did take care of some niggles yesterday, and hopefully will cross a few more off the mental list today.
Have a great day everyone!
01-17-2010, 12:01 PM
Good morning/almost afternoon beachers. Sounds like everyone is probably well into their day, i'm still trying to wake up and function, i'm not even close to being a morning person. Today I have to make my favorite cake/frosting at my son's request for his birthday cake. I'm still in phase 1 so I will not cheat and I don't feel any temptation will come my way.. it's all good :) Off to do a little shopping :^:
01-17-2010, 12:10 PM
Cottage, Most of the things that come out of Auston's mouth amuses me. Sometimes I laugh when I really shouldn't. :D
Cyndi, After one of the hurricanes that went through Lake Charles, LA, where my parents live, the hummingbirds got thrown off their migration path. Mom said that they are very aggressive, for pretty little things.
Debbie, It's almost embarrassing how fast our house can go from clean to pig sty! I don't know how people with many children do it!
Cat, My great-grandmother spoke only Cajun French. My grandfather was bilingual. My father speaks no French at all. It's a shame! It's very cool that you know your ancestry. I've tried to find genealogy of my Thibodeaux family, but have failed, even though I know names.
Everyone else -- Happy Sunday! :D
Jeff and I went to the flea market. It's raining, so there were only a few vendors. Jeff found beef jerky that was only slightly out of date. I found pretty pears, apples and oranges. Yay!
I'm making a pot of red beans and spicy sausage for dinner. Yum!
01-17-2010, 12:47 PM
Morning- I slept in till 9:45. Both kids went to spend the night with friends. Ds first real sleepover. He is 8 and never liked sleeping over before. They are both sleeping over at the same house. Dd's friend has a little brother who is friend with ds. Hubby and I went out to dinner. We went to Ruby Tuesday's. I had the petite steak, a lobster tail, mash cauliflower, and snap peas. I don't do broccoli. It is the only veggie other than ruttabeggas that don't like. I looked up the cauliflower when I got home and realized it had cream in it. I couldn't find how they cooked the snap peas and forgot to ask. I did ask about the lobster and they said it was brushed with butter and then served with butter on the side. I didn't use the butter on the side.
Food Great job on completing P1.
Morning Ruth- I can't wait to live near family again.
Cat-What do you teach?
Chelby- Hi fellow Alabamain. I used to live in Jasper and still have family there. Are you close to B'ham? Jasper is about 45 min from B'ham.
Twynn I agree. The wii board gives me one too.
Cyndi my family loved avatar I couldn't go. Stay same in the storm and warm.
Cottage I just emailed my aunt for her squash casserole recipe. I love it and had forgotten aobut it. Thanks for the remainder. If it is SB friendly I will share it on here. I remember it has tomatoes in it.
01-17-2010, 01:22 PM
wow, busy day here today.
FO - sounds like you are on the sunny side of the street. Keep up the good work.
Ruth - Have a nice day. We drove to Oakville yesterday and there was no sign of snow anywhere, felt like late March.
Cottage - enjoy your family day.
Cat - sounds like you are enjoying your wii, I really don't know what they are about.
Debbie - have a fun day is knitting still in the plan.
Cyndi - I really enjoyed your pictures.
Chelby - Auston is too cute. What a character.
Sorry, got to go DH is calling me saying he is ready to go to the store to shop for some spices for chicken curry.
Hope you all have a nice on plan day.
01-17-2010, 03:08 PM
Thanks for your kind comments and advice. I just got back from Church an hour ago and exercised by dancing. I did say I was going to dance as a form of exercise starting today. And to think I didn't feel like going! The man upstairs obviously sent me a sign that I am on the right path, lol.
01-17-2010, 03:28 PM
Tammie, I teach 2nd grade (taught kindergarten for a zillion years and also have taught 1st, 5th and 6th, but 2 is the best one for me!)
Chelby, if you want, this summer lets start on that genealogy stuff...I'll be happy to help.
01-17-2010, 03:37 PM
Tammie, I live in Remlap, about 45 minutes NE of B'ham. Blount County. I've been here 14 years. I'm actually a Cajun from SW Louisiana, married to an Alabama Redneck.
Cat, I would love to work on genealogy! I'd even sacrifice and make a trip to New Orleans! :D
01-17-2010, 03:43 PM
Chelby I grew up in Jasper AL until I was 16 we then moved to Vidalia GA (the onions). Met my hubby many years later who was in the army. Now we are back in Bama cause of the military.
Cat-I used to work in the school system. I worked as a kindergarten aid and secretary. I liked working in the school. thought about being a teacher. My son is in second grade and all I can say is bless your heart. That is a busy age for boys!!! ;)
01-17-2010, 05:19 PM
The first time I workout in forever and I can't find the January exercise thread anymore? lol, go figure!
I worked out though! about time! I will stick with it too! Just off work and workout- going to try to exchange that dress! catch up with you lovely ladies later!
01-17-2010, 05:50 PM
Chelby, you gotta deal, but since your family is from SW, we would HAVE to make a trip to Lafayette to Prejeans to do some "research"!!!
Thibodeaux, huh? Kinda like "Smith" in the rest of the country! Can probably hook you up with some good leads both off and online though. Fr. Hebert has some books that would probably be pretty good (http://www.acadian-cajun.com/hebpubl.htm). I'm sure some of my Cajun genealogy buddies have copies. Get whatever info you have together and we'll have some fun this summer getting busy with it.
01-17-2010, 06:27 PM
Good afternoon everyone,
Went to church and then target to pick up some stuff and home to work out. Does anyone know where the January exercise thread went to?
My dryer conked out on me again, so instead of paying over 150 to get it fixed again I just bought a new one, it is being delivered on Thursday pretty tight squeeze in the basement path, so I was nice to the delivery guy I moved the old dryer through the tight path and it is waiting to just go out the door on Thursday.
Have a lovely evening everyone
01-17-2010, 06:33 PM
I found the January exercise thread- it has been moved under the SBD Frequently Ask Questions section
01-17-2010, 06:58 PM
sorry, I dashed off like that. I just can't think straight when I'm trying to answer everyone and someone is saying - ready to go when you are.
I had a nice long nap this afternoon which probably means I won't sleep have the night. Oh well, got some knitting in progress.
Have a nice evening
01-17-2010, 09:46 PM
Cat, I found a Thibodeaux forum through that website! Thanks! I learned that in the Cajun culture, it was common for all the male children to be named the same first name, after a Saint, with different middle names. No wonder I've been hitting a wall in my search!
