Default Any Hope if There's No Gym/Trainer?

Unfortunately the closest gym to where I live is hours away (lol, as if motivation to cross-town wasn't hard enough) and I can't afford a personal trainer. Worse yet, my husband won't spring for fitness videos or anything like that because to him weight loss is a lost cause to begin with.

Aside from running blocks around my house, are there any good sites with fitness instruction or "youtube" type videos that could at least get me started in a direction?

Where is a good place to find exercise equipment for someone on a budget or just starting out, hopefully some equipment that can be used for more than just one exercise.

It's so hard as a beginner for me to figure out exactly what I need to be doing or what the terminology means. I always keep a dictionary.com tab open when I'm browsing sites to understand what kind of exercise is being suggested! For instance, before I decided to lose weight, I thought pilates was a kind of rice dish!

Oh, yes! There is plenty you can do with no equipment, and if you add a cheapo resistance band and maybe an even more cheapo jump rope for some really good cardio intervals, you get even more options!

No Equipment:

Resistance Bands are really inexpensive and very versatile.

They usually come with a chart of exercises, but you can see these sites as well:

More ideas:

Lots of libraries have exercise videos, and you can check them out with a free library card. See if your local library does! They also often have books about exercise, fitness, etc.

Some cable companies offer an "On Demand" service - does yours? If so, almost every on demand service I've seen has included a channel of exercise videos.

Exercise TV has some free videos:

Thank you very much! Your posts were extremely helpful and I'll definitely be taking a trip to the library.

if you have netflix, you can get exercise DVDs mailed to you.

buy a jump rope. it's cheap and you'll be sweating in 2 minutes.

try craigslist for cheap stuff or sometimes free stuff.
