GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, the third one is a bit more personal with all that's been going on with me lately:
A very effective way to achieve whatever you desire is to detach yourself from the need for it. When you're focused on the need, you're focused on the negative, limiting fact that you don't have it. So let go of the need and you'll be taking the first step toward making it happen. Transform it from a need into a choice and you'll begin to make it a reality.
Change what you need to do into what you will do, or better yet, into what you are doing. It can make an enormous positive difference in your attitude, your approach, your expectations and your results.
Contrast a person who says "I need to lose some weight" with someone who says "I've started working out every morning to get my weight under control." Which one do you think will actually lose weight?
When you need something, by very definition, you don't have it. So stop needing it, let go of that need, and start to make it really happen.

Good Morning everybody,
I am back! We have had a busy summer and after a few months of rationalizing reasons for eating the wrong things I am back on track. I did gain back 6 pounds since February(when i stopped losing) but a trip to the Dr. a few weeks ago did not show too much damage. I go back in 3 months and I am determined to show a loss. My cholesterol and triglycerides are the lowest they have ever been, but have not been able to taper my insulin recently. My sugars are staying pretty good but not low enough to adjust my dose. Boy, do I wish I could get off the insulin!
I am having a nice quiet day at home today, just me and the dog. My 10 year old is back in school as of last Thursday and my son Jeff is back to college for football camp before classes start. We went to Orlando for Media Day, they raise the UCF flags at the Citrus Bowl, the guys pose for photos and give autographs. It was cute watching all the young kids asking my son for his autograph, ooh a taste of being a celebrity. He still having some problems with his knee after his surgery in April and will be on the injury list for another 2 months. Hopefully he will be back on the field by November when they have a game in Ohio so I can see Quilter again!
Hope everyone has a great motivating week! (and lots of pounds lost!)

I was trying to really think about what keeps me motivated to stay with this plan.
Yes I've lost some weight. But I'm not losing every day. So I was sitting here wondering what keeps me from scarfing off the kids plates when they have cheese fries?
What's keeping me from having my coffee without "regular" sugar? Something I've never been able to do. Ever.
Its a combination of things. This board is a major factor. I read it all the time. I see people sticking with this plan long term. I see people coming back to this plan because they realize they felt crappy when they went off it.
I feel great!
No more stomach problems, or major tiredness.
My clothes are comfortable. I look better. I feel better about myself because I know I'm doing something wonderful for my body.
I'm also setting a better example for my kids. I'm teaching them a better way of eating.
They are not as strict as I am but they are more aware of the better choices for eating.
This plan works!

By Kathleen DesMaisons Ph.D.
I've read about 5 chapters and haven't really got to the information part yet. Her deal is to get the person off sugar slowly.
The thing that is weird is she talks about eating a potato every night before bed.
I haven't got to the why part yet but was wondering if anyone has read the book and what they thought of it.
She did say they Sugar Busters was a good plan but unrealistic for people to go cold turkey from sugar.

Mornin' y'all. I'm finally posting this week:) I spent part of last week with my mom, so I've been out of touch and very off plan.:( My mom is doing good. She feels great and has decided against continuing with the chemo. I don't know if that's the right decision or not, but we've left it up to her and she's happy with it. My eating was horrible while I was there. I don't even want to get near the scales. But back on track today. I start back to school for inservice tomorrow and the kids start back the 19th, so I'll have a routine to get back in to and maybe that will help.
I haven't had time to check out last week's posts, but I'll try to do that sometime today. Hope everybody has a great week.

Good Monday Morning Y'all!
Hubby and DD are due back this evening around dinner time. I have enjoyed not having to cook much but look forward to their return. I am rounding up the boys and we are going to get this place back in order so it doesn't look like all we did was play..which is basically what happened!
Our new lil puppy girl is doing very well. Housetraining her has been a dream instead of the usual nightmare. We are really enjoying her as the latest addition to this wiley crew.
We are expecting houseguests for this upcoming weekend so I will try to be creative with my cooking....that is something new for me. I am one of those women that pretty much cook the same kind of things all the time in a rotation.
It was very hot here yesterday and we are due for heat all week long. Looks like 94 or higher all week long for us and that is very hot for these parts of the woods. But on the positive side, that always helps me to drink more water!

Wow..three peeps posting at the same time!
CHERYLCO- I don't know anything about the potato eating every night but I don't see a big problem with going cold turkey from sugar. I did when I first started Atkins, before I made the shift to SB. I got a wretched head ache a few days into it but once that passed I was fine. I guess it all depends on how much sugar one is consuming before switching to SB. My biggest adjustment was the starches, not the sugars. Seems to me, it is better to get our taste for sugar out of us as quick as we can...then we move onto better eating and our bodies don't get mixed messages.
DEBELLI-About that voting in the polls thing. I hadn't been able to vote for weeks now but I emptied my temp. internet files yesterday and got rid of all my cookies. When I signed back in here and came to try and vote it worked! So maybe some people just need to clean up things on their computer and it will work for them too. Hope you get your modem sorted out soon.
MUSICTEACH-Your Mom made a difficult decision for her and the rest of the family. I know you are a Believer and I am hoping your Mom is too. {{hugs}}
BKM-Good to see you back on the wagon with the rest of us. Wonderful that the damage done was not too bad. Things can only get better when we eat properly. Look at how good your blood results are now, imagine what they can be!

Happy Monday Gang!
It was a lazy weekend at my house. Going to be a hot week too. In the 90's.
Boy is it great to get back in routine. After returning from vacation last Monday, i did nothing for the whole week. I was totally exhausted and a little under the weather. But today up at 5:15, Did my 2 mile walk/jog and 15 minute workout. It felt sooo good. I obviously need the routine of it all. Plus my body was feeling squishy.
Fillise, I'm certain you will do fine today on your eating. You are already planning ahead and that is important. Have a great day.
BKM, It is so nice to hear from you again. We have missed you. Hope your DS's knee heals before football season. He has had a time with it. Jump back on that wagon, Bob will be driving (as usual with Rocky Top blaring) and I bet you can get off the insulin. You have done great if you only gained 6 pounds since Feb. I gained 4 just on a 4 day vacation and didn't eat anything I shouldn't have. Except I did drink alot of pina coladas. Go figure.
Cherylco. Loved your reasoning for doing SB. I second all of them. I really like myself now. Enjoy buying clothes even. Never read the book you refer to but it sounds interesting. I never had any trouble getting off sugar right away. I can't think baked potatoes could be that bad for you. Hopefully, I can occasionally add them back in when I reach goal.
Music, It's hard to know if stopping the chemo is the right decision. But I guess you have to leave that up to her and her Dr. Most importantly is what she wants and how she feels. I believe attitude is 90% of it. Still sending prayers her way. Look for the wagon, it's coming around.
Gracious, It's ok to play sometimes. Nothing wrong with that. I'm like you. Cook the same thing over and over. I don't mind cooking if someone would just tell me what to cook. I need to try some new recipes. That is my goal.
Deb, Hoping you get that modem in soon. We are missing your words of wisdom. Liked your MM. It took me 2 reads on the first one to totally understand it. I can relate to the third one too. I have done nothing exercise wise this past week. It was ok, but I was glad to get back in routine today.

Morning! I have nothing motivational to add today. Just, DO IT! You will be happy you did.
I am about to take off to meet my hubby for lunch. We were going to try a Lebanese restaurant he found near his office, but he just called to tell me it is closed on Mondays! Bummer! We might could have waited until tomorrow, but then he has no lunch. Guess we will try Thai, or something else instead.
I saw something odd this morning...a fox was trotting across my front yard! It scared the crap out of the cat! He ran up the stairs and into the house like a flash! It is unusual to see a fox in such an urban area. We do live near the river, where there are forest preserves and such. I guess he just wandered over here, and found someplace to stay!
School started today. The house is quiet, and restful. Ah! It is amazing how much chaos one teenager can generate! LOL
Come on, everyone...lets make this the best week ever! We can do it! We are winners! We are great losers! (kind of an oxymoron huh?)

Thanks for the encouragement. As of Saturday (my Weight Watchers Weigh In) I am at 192, only 4 lbs. off of my all-time high. :(
You would think that’s enough to rein me in, but NO… I went on a tortilla chip, french onion dip, and Oreo binge. Ugh. Never mind the fact that it really didn’t taste all that good. :shrug: Today I feel bloated. Gee, I wonder why? :rolleyes:
I have two weeks until my dress fitting, and one day after that I go into surgery. How much does a gallbladder weigh? At least that will account for SOME loss. :lol: I am trying to regain some semblance of dignity here. You are all so wonderfully encouraging, and I thank you for that!
A question… my stepson has ADD and a high-functioning form of autism called “Aspergers Syndrome”. One of the things DH2B and I have talked about is how potentially beneficial it would be to wean SS off of sugar and see if it helps his attention span. The problem is, we only have him every other week. Is it even doing any good if it takes us all week to detox him, only to have him go back to his mom’s and eat junk all day every day??? Any advice here is appreciated. :)
Sammy the furpuppy is doing well. She’s a little sad, being boarded at the Humane Society until the end of the month, and I must confess that I cried like a baby when she clung to me as I was trying to leave… :(
BUT we get to visit and play and take her for walks every day. Except for an alarming tendency to get underfoot while walking (and the herd-dog nipping at heels thing), she’s taking to training very well. We are talking about obedience classes, and the AGILITY thing sounds wonderful. I’m trying to find a place in our area that has classes for it. Here I am, planning Sammy’s future, and she’s only 8 weeks old. :lol:
I am hoping that once we’re in our house, I can take more control of my eating. Right now, I spend one week eating at my apartment with Dan, then the next week I’m always over at his mom’s, where he and John (stepson) are living until the wedding. Dan’s mom is a nice lady, but she’s got JUNK FOOD all over the house. Dan and John routinely eat cookies, cake, rice, pasta, and white bread… everything I’m trying to avoid. It’s so difficult to not eat what’s for dinner there, and I am tired of fighting with Dan about the crap he’s feeding himself and his son.
I’ve told him that in MY household, we’re only having healthier choices, and if John wants an after-school snack, he’d better learn to grab yogurt or an apple. :lol: Wish me luck!
Thanks for listening to me babble yet again. I’m going to try and concentrate on my own eating, even if it means skipping dinner with Dan and joining the family later. John will be relieved – his 8-year-old palate is limited to chicken nuggets and pizza. He’s going to be in for a shock in October!

Thought I'd take a shot and try to get in a post before I start tackling the modem problem. This is NOT the post I've been intending to get done, just something to get up here to let you know I'm still alive and kicking.
Had a few things to do this morning so haven't gotten around to calling tech support as of yet. Michael's friend is having a surprise party for him labor day weekend (Sunday) and she needs me to get pictures to do a collage for her by tomorrow, so that is on my major to-do list this morning since the kids are at school. I can't WAIT til Michael sees all the nudies I've given her-paybacks sure are sweet!!!!!:s:
Was able to get out and do 4.5 miles this morning. Haven't done ANY exercise at all for about 2 weeks, haven't been like this in more than 2 years. Was hard, but glad I went.
BIGK, glad to have you back on the board-have missed you. Six pounds since Feb. is NOT bad at all, I can do that easily in a lot less time, sorta feels like playing NAME THAT TUNE, but instead, GAIN THAT POUND, and I can do it in less time than you;) Did SZUSZU have the baby yet?
CHERYL, I liked reading what motivates you to stay OP! Thanks for sharing. I did read that book long ago. You have to remember, what works for one may not work for another. Some people may benefit by eating that potato whereas others won't. There use to be a gal on this board that made goal, BEACHFAN, who, the entire time on SB never gave up eating bananas and had no problem meeting goal. If you really decide you want a potato, not that I'd eat one every day, esp. before going to bed, you can always see how it may effect you and then go from there.
MUSIC, glad to see you back and glad to hear your DM is feeling better. I'm sure she'll make the right decision for herself. I'm with you, don't want to step on the scale either:shrug:
GRACIOUS, thanks for the tip on clearing the cookies-can't imagine how much I have on this computer by now, will have to try. Boy, it is hot up there, I would think you all would cool off a little bit. You have it hotter there than we do down in FL.
JACKK, looks like we both got our butts up and out today - go us!!!!:D Trust me, I've had major board withdrawls since all this has been going on with the computer-time to get this post done and get on the phone with tech support!!! Loved the prayer!!!!

JENN, just my 2 cents about detoxing DSS. It's a good idea and surely couldn't hurt, but seems fruitless if his mother doesn't follow suit. Would only work if both do the same, not that it would hurt any for him not to eat that crap while he's with you, but any good that goes with it is reversed once he goes home. Maybe if you do it and she sees a difference she'll keep it up - worth a try:)
Okay, I know, it's short, but at least I got it on, right? As soon as I get this posted, I'm logging off and calling tech support for the modem. I'm just hoping I'm not installing it properly and they can guide me in doing so and NOT find out it's something with the computer!!!!!

JENN- I have an 8, 6 and 3.5 year old and I thought I would toss my 2 cents in too. When we know how bad junk food is for our bodies, why would we continue giving it to a kid even if we know he is going to get it at his other home? That is like giving poison (since that is what we seem to think sugar is around here) to someone just because we already know he is getting it elsewhere.
When I started my *healthier eating* I basically detoxed my house in a big way and have kept it like that for the most part. Hubby and kids are all brown bread, rice and pasta eaters now because that is all I buy, cook and serve them. If they don't want to starve (which they don't) then they eat what we have. I occasionally buy a few cookies but that is a rare occurance. I still *allow* desserts on occasion too like ice cream and popsicles...I mean they are kids, but they are treats and not staples. But when they want evening snacks it is always an apple. They are also fond of cheese and *picnics* which include sliced fruit, lunch meat, pickles and ww crackers.
The way I see it is, it is easier to control what the kids eat than what I eat! I am more vigilant with them being good eaters because I can say no without a problem to them...meanwhile, temptation is often lurking at my own door. Do SS a favour and teach him good eating habits and talk about *healthy* food rather than *fat and skinny*. Especially with his health concerns. Maybe his mother will learn a valuable lesson from you! Here's to hoping.

How bad is it? Dan and I want to have a "movie night" at home every other week with John, so to this end I purchased a hot air popper. I've heard it's better than microwaving with all the oil, etc.

This morning was an annual visit with the doctor, she ran bloodwork because I told her I was having the night sweats and periods were getting painful….but other than that I am fine….she said I am a healthy "young" chick and, and that she thinks I am too young for the nightsweats and so, blood test to find out levels….. She also noticed the swollen part of my foot when I told her I was not exercising at the moment because of it – she was upset that I am having to wait until Thursday to get a bone scan to look at it – and see about casting, fixing it…. Upsets me too! I am calling the other doctor today and trying to get them to move it up some – or at least do SOMETHING besides telling me to not walk on it too much – does not sound right…..sorry, had to complain, whine, fuss :(
Motivation: The fact that before I even ballooned up to my highest, I had seen my doctor at a heavier weight, and when I went in today I was very happy to know that I weigh even less than I did last Summer!!!! And that the doctor praised me for my health and determination!!! That is motivation! Along with the fact that I am sitting here in my new denim skirt – size 18, and knowing that in a month or two it will be pretty loose on me….
I am eating my salad and whole wheat pita – had a ww english muffin for breakfast – and tonight is a dinner of pita and salad again – and DS will have Boca Burger in Pita….

Tranquil--When I had the second stress fracture--the one in my heel, they had to do a bone scan to find it. The doctor thought it probably was some problem with the plantar fascia, but he was conservative and wanted to have the bone scan done before he did any cutting. Thank goodness! They gave me some radioactive stuff and then I went back later to have the scan done.
Jack K--Thanks for the challenge. I’ll accept.
Jenn--I wonder if your not being able to rein yourself in would be addressed in the first motivational thought that Debbie posted today. When I feel like I “can’t” have something, it makes it all that more tempting, and I often fall off the wagon. When it becomes merely a choice that you are making it puts it in a different light.
Re. the sugar detox for your stepson, I agree that it would probably be futile if he is leaving your home to simply gorge on sugar again. But I wonder if you could approach it from another aspect. Instead of the “good diet” “bad diet” dilemma, could you possibly join forces with his mom to make things better for him. For example, perhaps you might mention to her that you were reading that a diet low in simple sugars and starches seems to have wonderful effects on children with that particular disorder. And since you want to “be on her team” and not do anything that would detract from any possible progress that her son might make, would she prefer that you serve him whole grains and fresh veggies and stay away from the candy and ice cream? She might not know what you are talking about at first, and not respond the way you hope. But at least it would plant a seed in her mind and she may then take the time to do some investigating on her own. Or you could even show her an article you found on the internet, perhaps. That is, if there is, indeed, any articles like this. The idea is to make her think you are joining forces with her instead of vice versa. Since she is your dh2b’s X, she will of necessity be a part of your life. So, the best relationship you can have with her the better--for you, your DH and the boy. Good luck.
Re. the poll-- checked 3. A cat (actually 2 cats), a bunch of fish (in the 2 fishponds we have in our yard), and “other.” If you came to my house I would take you back to the butterfly garden and we’d have a lovely time sitting and sipping wine and watching those fabulous flying flowers flit around. I think I saw one of my “babies” this morning. The Monarchs are the most predominant, but my favorites are the swallowtails. I’ve only seen a couple of them there. My DH stayed home from church yesterday so he could watch the last one emerge from its chrysalis. He said it was so interesting.
If you had come several years ago, you would have seen chickens. Our son raised them from babies when he was in grade school. One of our neighbors also has 4 hens. They run free during the day and peck bugs out of several of the yards nearby. We don’t live in the country, just in a regular subdivision!
Gotta go. I have French class tonight. I worked in the yard this morning. Was humid here and I was sweatin’ like a pig. My DH is in Chicago for 3 days. I miss him already. Our anniversary is this month--our 39th. We are going to spend the night out at one of the fancy hotels near disney to celebrate. The Grand Cypress. It has a wonderful free form pool with waterfalls, caves, etc. I probably won’t go swimming though. Too fat! There is also a little par 3 golf course. We WILL do that. Take care.

Hello all! It is Monday afternoona and I just got in from Montgomery. Thought I'd take this break and say hello before I dive into afternoon's workload.
Belle wants to know where the poll choice is for "human." Make no mistake--she allows me to live in HER house. There is a vet clinic in town that has the following on its marquee: "Dogs have masters. Cats have servants. "
So far so good today! I was so hungry on the way home--stopped at a KFC (the last thing before 55 miles of interstate). I try to pull as much of the skin off the chicken as possible--no break or potatoes, just a little slaw. How I wish they had broiled or rotisserie chicken!
Anyway I'll try to do a big salad tonight with some tuna.
BKM--it is great to see you back on the board! Your damage is much less than mine--good for you for getting a handle on it before it really gets out of hand.
Gator--39 years! Congratulations--you deserve the fancy hotel and all the splurge you can handle! Happy Anniversary!
Jenn--sorry, popcorn is evil. It's corn and corn is bad because it will ultimatly turn straight to sugar in our bodies. I've tried t slip popcorn in a time or two and my body responds in ways I don't like--so try to stay away from it if you can. Why not keep a small bowl of nuts for movie munching--or some tricuits and salsa?
Cherlyco--I think it is best to detoc completely. If you try to "wean" yourself off sugar you will never lose your taste for it. One of the miracles of this WOE for me is that after I get the sugar out of my system I actually lose a lot of my sweet tooth. What is left is easily satisfied by the natural sugars in grapes, or peaches, or apples.
OK--got to get to work.

Hi! Hope you all had a nice weekend. Thought I'd get in a quick post and then do more later. I learned a few plumbing skills over the weekend and today I'm working on some landscaping in my yard. Maybe I will find a new a career in having to learn to do these things as a single parent.:) I have to make this quick as I'm trying to get something accomplished before it rains.
Jack-K, I accept your challenge also! Good idea to do that for a short term goal! I guess I'm having some good days as I haven't had much trouble staying on program. I don't crave the bad foods like I did before SB, thank goodness!

Jenn, I have heard that no sugar is a great help in ADD. Maybe you could get Dan to discuss it with his ex and she would want to help him out. Sometimes you have to put you first. Take dinner with you, eat before you go. Think of you. Don't put that weight back on and then have to take it off again. For me, I never want to see that 200 number again. Hang in there. Popcorn is not legal. How about pork rines for you.
Tranquil, Good for you wearing a new skirt and the Dr's praises. Makes you feel good doesn't it. You're right in a month or 2 that skirt will be way too big. Hope you gt that foot looked at soon.

Dan's ex is the fast-food junkie type. What makes me ill is she's skinny as a freakin' rail. :mad:
She's already told him when we suggested looking into eliminating foods for SS that might cause allergies that there's NO WAY she's altering anything on her end.
Doesn't surprise me, after some of the descriptions of the way she ran the household when DH2B was there. Fast food wrappers everywhere, and she couldn't cook if she tried. Ugh!
Anyhow, I'll keep MY household junk-food free, thanks. :lol:

GRACIOUS and TRANQUIL: Thanks for your prayers for my mom. She is a strong Christian lady with lots of faith. She says she just feels better when she's not doing the chemo. It doesn't make her sick or anything. I think a lot of it is in the mind. But whatever makes her feel better and she's happy with it, then it's OK with my bro, sis and me. She's feeling good these days. Even went out and scraped the paint off the garage before one of the kids from church came to paint it. Keep in mind that she'll be 81 in Oct.

I'm still here. But am down in the dumps today and it's hard to post perky things feeling like this. It's got to be a hormonal thing because the scale was up 3 pounds today and I'm feeling so yuck.
Today is DH and my 24th anniversary. Financial situation and job hunting stress will prevent any big celebration. Just keep sending good thoughts that one of the interviews he has this week will bring a job.
I have to send DS back to Annapolis on Wed. and that doesn't help the dumps I'm in. Won't see him again until Thanksgiving. Well, he does come down for the Navy/SMU game Labor Day. And he's bringing some fellow Drum & Bugle Corps friends to stay with us.
We have 2 more weeks before teachers start back and I'm really ready to get out of this house.
My motivation, just as Cheryl and Jack-K, is how good I feel. But even that isn't enough sometimes lately when I'm not losing and see all the starchy foods around. I think some (me) need reassurance from others about our journey. I haven't had that being stuck at home for the summer. I need to hear people tell me how good I look and noticing my weight loss.
Jenn: The sugar-free lifestyle may help the ADD, but nothing will help the Aspergers. I had a student just this past year diagnosed and since he's in my g.t. class, I'll have him again this year. It's an organic problem that has to be dealt with by manipulating his environment. My student is obsessed with map making and lists. But the maps are not your usual, ordinary road maps. They are quite intricate and things only he understands. I have to remind him to finish my assignment before he pulls out the paper with the map and constantly observe him. He can solve a problem in his head, but cannot tell me the process it took to get the answer. It can be very frustrating, but has been a remarkable experience for me. He and his family will move back to the UK next summer and I will miss him and his little brother.
Deb: Hope you get your problem solved. My laptop is still down and the Dell techs forgot to input one little number so the order wasn't processed. Now I'm waiting for another tech to bring the correct cpu. I have to use the desktop upstairs in my DS's room and I hate being up here all alone.
Gotta go cook my own anniversary dinner now. Grilling chicken, and a great little squash dish my mom showed me last week. I'll post the recipe on Thursday. It's delicious!

Happy Monday to everyone. I'm not too Motivated, but by golly I'm here.
I can't seem to keep my butt OP. The other day I snatched a handful of chips off the counter and was eating them before I knew it. I'm not eating a TON of illegal stuff every day, but I find myself eating at least a bite or two of something illegal SEVERAL times a week now... why? I did so well quitting cold turkey and sticking with it... and now it's like, oh well... I don't know what made me change like that? I'm STILL not drinking enough. I'm getting really LAZY about my eating, plus taking these BCpills, I need to be strict as ever to keep me from gaining on them!!! What has come over me??? I can't get enough to eat, I eat all day long... It's NUTS! I gotta get a GRIP!!!!!!!!!
JENN - I have 2 ADHD sons, and I don't eliminate sugar completely from their diets, but I do keep it very limited to special things they like. I wouldn't look at it as being "detoxing him, to only have it ruined when he goes home" Look at it as offering him HEALTHY choices while he's with you. Saying there's no point because his mother will feed him junk is like saying, well... since he gets 500 grams of sugar at his moms in a day, he may as well here too... NO WAY!!! Just think, if you cut out sugar in his diet at your house, then in a month he has just consumed HALF the sugar he would if he stayed with her the whole time. So, you're doing SOME good!! Making healthy choices while he's with you is what is best for him, regardless of what someone else decides to feed him! The MAIN source of behavior problems for my kids is CORN products. Studies find this to be true of a LOT of children. I can tell you from working in a daycare that children who eat corndogs, or regular corn, or anything very corn based at lunch, are usually the more active ones the rest of the day. Same with breakfast. The kids who had eggs and meat or bread were more attentive and well behaved in class than the ones who ate sugary cereal (corn syrup) and pancakes with syrup on them. Just a thought!! You'd be surprised where that corn syrup pops up! Good luck either way.
OK... Of to fix a nice LEGAL salad... cause I'm already hungry again and I just ate about an hour ago!!!!!!!

Have been so busy the last couple of days, I haven't been around. Oh! Before I forget! Melf has been extra busy and wants to be remembered to all. When she gets caught up on her rest and work she'll be back.
It's a long story, but I'm really pis-ed off! My friend (?) was supposed to come this week. Tentatively the 16th but not definite. Time was getting close and I made several calls to her, only to talk to her machine and granddaughter. Told the machine that I had to make arrangements with my volunteer work and needed to know definite dates. I finally called her last night again, She had called during church.....she knows I go to church, and said she has just been so busy and would call later in the day. I finally called her at 9p. Upshot she's not coming, but she wasn't sure when she could get here, etc. etc. She couldn't talk last night for some reason but would call today. I have had it!!!! She has always had to have things revolve around her needs, but as I get iolder it seems I am getting less tolerant. She mentioned next week, but is afraid it would interfere with my getting ready for my trip. I said maybe after I get back, by then she won;t be able to come because it's too close to the holidays or some darn thing!!! GRRRRRRRRRRR!!! ASuch is life!
BIGKM: Welcome back. Look on the bright side, some of your numbers are better and that's a positive!
CHERYLCO: Great motivation for you! Heck, I bet most of us here went cold turkey on the sugar thing! Worked fine for me and the others!

Well, sad to say, the modem is NOT up and running. No matter what I tried I can't get it to work correctly. I even called the company's tech support, and after 20 minutes of being on hold after calling a telephone number that is NOT free I hung up. I'm hoping that maybe QUILTER'S DH and help me via the phone, or possibly a local friends hubby, though I'm not sure just when he can get around to coming by to help, so, I guess you'll just have to bear with me a little longer-sorry:^:
JENN, a small amount of popcorn, a cup, they now say is okay. I was eating a bag and not losing, so popcorn may not be good for me, either in the amount I was eating, or smaller, or not every day-what can I say?:shrug: I've cut it out now and won't eat any for a while to see what happens. I buy the BEARITO'S brand microwave made with no oil-only popcorn and salt - love it (a bit too much though).
TRANQUIL, how about staying off that foot for a while instead of hitting the mall???? I can't imagine how you are managing walking with your foot being like that-you must really have a high threshold for pain.
JACKK, I'm with you 100%-you have my word on that! I hope he has a good sense of humor in regards to the pics, but more than likely, he'll be pissed off - oh well, like I said, it's a payback:s:

Good morning everyone
Just checking in to say Hi before I leave on vacation. I thought I would have lots of time to post recently since I haven't been working for the last two weeks but have been busier than ever. I'm leaving this morning for a 7 day bus tour to Branson. Still staying o.p most of the time with the same fluctuations in weight - up a pound or two and down again. I was up to 203 yesterday morning but down to 200.5 this morning.
I would like to take up the challenge of staying o.p. this week. It may be hard being away from home but I will do my best. Having this challenge should help to keep me in line. I just hope that there are some healthy choices to be had while I am away.
Deb - Hope your computer problems are solved soon. Even though I haven't posted recently I do like to check the posts when I have the time and I have missed your chatty posts.
Tranquil - Hope you can get that foot better before your trip to England. That'll be quite expensive for you if you have to drive around in those London cabbies.:) Enjoy your trip to Bath - it is a beautiful place to visit. I was there a few years ago with a gf. While there we also went on a bus tour to the Cotswolds. That was beautiful, seeing all the little country villages.
BOB - Sorry to hear about your Uncle. Hope your mom is recovering well from her surgeries.

Happy Tuesday Gang!
Did everyone have a 100% OP day? Good for you! Didn't get to bed until after 11:30 last nite. Up at 5:15 to walk. I was dragging. Could only jog about half the normal times. Will save my workout for tonite. Things are slower at work, so I will either be sleepy or wanting to eat all day.
The board was busy last nite. I'll attempt to catch up.
Jenn, Isn't that always the way. People who eat junk all the time are skiiny and we struglle with losing a pound. Hoepfully, it will catch up with her one day. I have a friend who culd eat a whole pizza and she is a size 5. So unfair
Music, sounds like your Mom is a whipper snapper. At 81 she is amazing. But that is what keeps poeple going at that age. Prayers for her.
Jred, Happy anniversay. Concentrate on what you two have and not what you don't have. 24 years is a big accomplishment. Celebrating a wonderful love doesn't have to be a blow out affair. Congrats. You will lose that 3 pounds in no time, Probably water and hormones. Hang in there. Hope you feel better. I'm sure as soon as you start back to school,people will be surprised at how nice you look. They haven't seen you all summer. Can't wait for that squash recipe. I need something different to do with it.
Beth, Quit thinking about food. I bet it is on your mind constantly. Keep yourself busy. Clean something, take a walk. When I want something, Like cheese or nuts, I make myself eat a piece of fruit first. Then if I still am hungry, then I eat the cheese or nuts. At least I had something good for me first. Maybe it's the time of the year, but I have been ravenous too. But things have slowed down at work and at home so I have more time to think about food. We have got to train ourselves not to think about food first.
Bob, The chicken at KFC is too greasy. But I love their mashed potatoes and bisquits. Tell your DB to mind his own business. We need you.
Sef, What a bummer with your friend. Some people are so inconsiderate. I have a friend who always wants to do things she suggests but nothing we ever suggest. I get tired of it too.In fact, they were going to go with us on vacation and we planned the dates all around their schedules and then they backed out. Honestly, I'm glad they did. I find myself getting less tolerant the older I get. Sorry arthur is giving you such a bad time. Don't try to do so much.

I went cold turkey off the sugar also. I think the book (The Sugar Addict's Total Recovery Program) is for people who just can't go cold turkey. I picked it up because it looked interesting and I hoped to pick up some new info.
I don't want to follow it. SB works great for me.
Apparently the potatoes is to be eaten at night 3 hours after your last meal. It's supposed to allow seritine levels to rise or something.

Do you have any hand weights? Or even a couple of can veggies. Maybe you could do some upper body work sitting in a chair...That might help you feel like you are still working out some. Sorry that your foot still isn't well.

Also, I may have a found a new agave supplier. There is a local health food store that I just stumbled into and asked about it. He is going to try and get it but may have to order large quantities. Are any of you that can't find it where you are interested in having it shipped? I'll be back with more details and prices, etc. but just thought I would check.

Good morning to all! Off to a good start today, thanks to Jack-K and the challenge. I have remained 100% OP from the moment I accepted the challenge, and I intend to stay that way. Even gave my remaining Oreos away! :D
Snack yesterday was 1 wedge laughing cow cheese with 2 Wasa rye crackers. Dinner was 3 oz. Sirloin with broccoli and a caesar salad sans croutons (we went out to eat). Breakfast today is Dannon Lite & Fit Yogurt (blueberry – yum) and an apple. Lunch will either be chicken taco salad (but NO chips) or hot wings with side salad. Dinner will be Dan’s Beef stroganoff made with 98% FF, low sodium mushroom soup, and Durham pasta. On the side, we’re having steamed asparagus and salad. *happy dance*
QUESTIONS!!! I am full of them lately *g*
1. Morningstar brand vegetarian foods… IF the sugars per serving are below 3, are they legal? Some do contain corn, and I’m trying to eliminate those, but otherwise is it okay? Same question for Boca Burgers…
2. SF pancake syrup??? I found a bottle, and am thinking of trying it to go with our SGWW french toast. Thoughts on that?
Gator – you are correct. I DO make choices everyday, and have willingly and knowingly chosen to fall off the wagon time and again. Now I choose to stay OP. Thanks! :)
Jack-K – funnily enough, when I was on Atkins, I’d eat pork rinds with blue cheese dressing. It’d gross out my mom, but I really did acquire a taste for them. If you crumble them up, they make a great alternative to bread crumbs if you’re coating something.
Fillise – Thanks for the nuts and triscuits/salsa suggestion. I’d have to regulate my portions – I can eat peanuts till the cows come home! But it’s a good option.
Jred – yes, the Aspergers is very different. With the ADD in the mix, we have a tough time keeping SS on track at all. It is definitely a learning experience!
Beth – thanks for the advice on the corn! I never would have thought of that, but when SS gets a corndog kids meal, he does tend to climb the walls. His other favorite is chicken fingers/tenders, and sometimes aren’t they coated in corn? His dad and I have made the pact that when we move into our house, the breakfast items will be Cheerios with fruit (banana, berries, whatever’s on hand), bacon and eggs, and SGWW french toast with SF syrup. No corn pops in our pantry!
Deb – thanks for the popcorn tip. It’s like anything – eat in moderation. The biggest problem I have is the salt from the microwave brands. I puff up like a balloon for two days after I eat any. :lol: I may have a handful now and then on movie night, but with the suggestions I’ve gotten for legal snacks, I think I’ll be okay! :D

McJonJon - I didn't get to weigh in on the creamer issue last week, so here's my 2 cents worth. I use evaporated skim milk (the little cans). It keeps forever in the frig and really tastes richer than regular milk.

Feeling better everyday. Did a little housework this morning. I am thinking that I should be able to do some walking, slowly, to get some exercise in. I don't like just sitting around. I am enjoying the fact that I can get on the board anytime I want and am not retricted to posting like I am at work.
Jack - K I am taking that challenge. I have been able to stay OP so far this week. We have dinner plans tonight with some friends and they are treating. Not sure where we are going. How do you do it to bed at 11:00 and up at 5:00. I can barely drag myself out at 5:30, when I am working, and I go to bed at 9:00-9:30. Maybe I get to much sleep. Walking that early is go for here though since it is so hot. Yesterday is was 108 and today it is supposed to be 113. My neice has cut out alot of sugar and byproducts and she isn't nearly as hyper as before. Good luck.
J-Red - Hang in there. Better days will come. I know what it is like to have your children go away. My son and DIL were here for two weeks and left Sunday. 12hrs away and I hate it. Thank goodness for computers ands cell for rates. We get to talk to them often. Happy Anniversary!!! Even though you might not get to doing somthing the day of look forward to doing something when you can. Had your DH heard on any of the job interview? n The right job is there just waiting for him.

Am sitting here rsting with you all! I went to a PW Board meeting, got my hair cut, went to Hobby Lobby. I bought myself a little clip-on light for crafts to use with my stitching on my trip with some of the money I saved from my friend not coming for a visit. She called last night full of plans that suited her. I told her they didn't suit me and we would try to get together after my trip. She was almost speechless! I have been doing some HFH writing and when I'm done here will put my feet up, I feel a
nap coming on!
DEB: I thought you were a computer whiz, you solve so many of our problems. Terrible when amachine knows more than we do! Our scanner stopped working and GD can't get it to cooperate! Has re-installed about six times. We miss you! Shouldn't mention aches and pains, they are just a fact of life, but every so often I get bummed out! Thanx for your thoughts.
MERCY: You don't have to post every day, but we do like to know how a member is doing.

Getting ready to head home. it's storming here. Just hope it is doing the same at my house. My grass is now straw. Idon't think we have mowed in over 4 weeks. Got to get my nails done on the way home. I am marinating some chicken from a new recipe I found in a magazine. If it turns out, I'll post it.

Trish, I am interested in the agave. I have always been able to get it, I went to the HFS Friday and they were out and didn't know when it would come in. Plus it went from $2.50 to $5.09 a bottle. I was just going to post to ask whomever posted the address on where to order would do so again.

I have had a good day again. I have had minimal slip ups and I find I am probably done detoxing now. My cravings are almost gone and I am getting by without checking out the inside of the fridge every ten minutes! :)

JENN: Can I stick my two cents worth in here? Morningstar Farms and Boca Burger products are loaded with soy. I remember you were having your thyroid tested. If you have any inkling that your thyroid, even if it tests normal, is not really normal (I test normal, but I am NOT! I have to be at the very low end of normal, or I have Hypo symptoms) you really ought to stay away from soy. Soy binds with thyroid hormone, making it unusable by the cells. Any one with difficulty losing weight really should monitor their soy intake.

Hi everyone!
Things have been going well for me. I have started to fall behind with my cardio workouts, but I am going to be back on track soon. I went shopping the other day and bought a couple pair of pants. I'm wearing 35 waist now, so I'm happy about that. The shorts I bought are 34's. :) Also, I went to one of my local piercing shops to look around. I ended up getting one of my ears pierced (now I have a matching set). I pierced my left ear when I was 12 lol and now 16 years later I get the other one done. *shrugs* oh well. I'm looking forward to going to a club tomorrow with some friends. I am planning to have a few beers, but no shots for me. I know beer isn't OP, but I say what the ****! Have to let loose every so often. :D Gotta run! Take care.

I've haven't had a chance to post today like I've wanted to. I Took my Mom to a consultation with a surgeon as she needs to have two cysts removed from her neck. Dr. says he believes they are benign. My DD stayed home from school with a very sore throat that didn't look good at all. So, we were off to yet another doctor's appointment. She not only has Strep throat, but acute Tonsillitis. Not a good start to the school year for her. :(

Okay, where did Monday and Tuesday go??? I’m already behind. I have to confess that I have been watching a little extra tv. Since it’s the big Elvis week I’ve been trying to take in all the extra shows. And I watched three really great movies this weekend: American Beauty, Flawless and Chocolat. Wow, were they great!!! I have a huge list of ones to watch.
Well, the four pounds I took off over my holiday are giving me a bit of trouble. Yesterday and today I was up about 1.5 pounds. I knew it would take a while for those four to be off permanently. So I don’t expect to have a loss tomorrow. We shall see. I should be starting my period this week and I’ve been having such the cramps and bloating. Today I felt really gassy and then unloaded right before it was time to come home from work. I hate that part of my period the worst. I don’t understand why I have to get the big D every single month right before I’m ready to start. It’s such a pain. Sometimes it wears me out literally. Well, I hope that wasn’t too much information for you. Just a natural part of living, I guess.
BETH---Are you sure you know what you’re asking for. You may need a one-on-one session with BOB before you go to the extremes of the DD!!! Seriously though, hope you hang in there!

I take a soy protein drink every single morning and wonder what that’s doing to me.
CM4H----Sorry to hear that you’ve been feeling blah lately. I hope that turns around really quickly for you. I know one thing that will make you feel better is to post a whole lot and have all these wonderful people lift your spirits.

JENN---Here’s what I think about the french toast using WW bread and SF syrup. It’s wonderful. TOO wonderful. I guess you can consider it legal (and I’ve had it plenty of times while OP), but I think there are two down sides to it. 1. that sf syrup has nutrasweet in it and I’m trying to eliminate as much of that as possible. I just don’t think it’s good for us. And 2. That meal is so high in starchy carbs. Two slices of ww bread is two servings. And that can really add up. When I used to make it, I could never stop at just one piece. I guess it’s an okay occasional treat, but I would go overboard and start making it every weekend. And pretty soon I was disappointed with the scales. Just my opinion . . . doesn’t mean it’s right.

SEF---Your friend sounds like she can’t make up her mind. I totally get what you said about being sick of everything having to revolve around her. You were so smart to turn the tables on her! AGAVE - for those who are interested. I buy Archeology Magazine and such, and there is an article in the newest issue, about a plant called MAGUEY AKA AGAVE. Long day--but an OP one. I went to get the oil changed in the car and ended up sitting at the mechanic's for two hours while they checked out a couple of problems I'd been having. Turned out to be relatively simple to fix, but I didn't need to lose those two hours.
I have to be at a 7 am meeting and will then be in Montgomery the rest of the day. May not get to post until Thursday, but cross your fingers for WIW anyway!
Jenn--I use both the Cary's SF syrup and agave on WW pancakes on the rare occasion I make them. I like the agave better--it has a richer taste. I also like a very thin layer of agave on peanut butter toast in the morning.
hunnyb--the NSA Hunt's tomato sauce is fine. The sugars are the natural sugars found in the tomatoes. Fructose (fruit sugar) and lactose (milk sugar) cause less of a glycemic rise than than sucrose or glucose or dextrose, etc. I use it to make my sauces.
Quilter--yeah, I pay the rent, buy the food, but Belle rules the roost! In fact she is going to be in here in a minute telling me it's time to turn the computer off and go to bed. Stitching--I've got a Christmas stocking to finish (yes, that would be the same one I was working on last Christmas).
Wendy--interesting human factoids--but I happen to know for a fact that the biggest cells in my body are the FAT CELLS! :lol:
BOB--I'm not feeling so well. What time can I expect you over to clean the bathroom? A casserole (SB legal of course) would be nice too. BTW--you need to pick up your kids. A real quick howdy to you folks.
Missed chat because I was picking up DH at the airport. He flew to Amarillo for a job interview. That's way up in the panhandle of TX and I'm not really wanting to move up there. He has an interview here in BigD tomorrow and one the S'port, LA on Thursday. Keep praying for the right job to open up.
Anniversary was just another day around here. Maybe things will look up when hubby is working again.
Tomorrow Bubba heads back for his third year at the Academy and it seems like just yesterday we were bawling our eyes out over him leaving for Plebe Summer. It isn't any easier letting him go and he has just as hard a time leaving.
Feeling a little better today. I went down to school and visited with several teachers who are decorating their rooms. I can't yet because they haven't dropped the wires for my new computers and I can't arrange anything until I know which wall they are going to be against. I'm excited to find out I get 4 computers instead of the 2 I was expecting so I'll have a total of 5 student stations. I'll be in heaven teaching this year.

Morning All!
Just a quickie. I am down to 168 today--that's one lb less than last week.:D
It's been really hot and humid here for the past few days. YUCK! :p With the smog advisory, I try to stay inside (I have asthma) so yesterday DS(4 yrs old) and I did the 3 mile WATP. :dancer: 45 minutes! I was impressed with the both of us. I'm going to try to do one of the WATP every day and then hopefully get back into the weights :strong: and elliptical.
I had to start up exercising again. Believe it or not, exercising improves my sore hips and knees. :dance: I haven't done much for a good month or so and boy are my joints screaming at me. I guess that would be another thing to write down on my list of motivators!
Sorry to see a few of you didn't have a good WIW:( I understand how frustrating that is. I hope next week will bring better news.

I am down 5. Four of which were vacation pounds plus 1 more. 3 of which came off during the week. That puts me 1 under where I was before I left for vacation. Now to keep going in the right direction. No more ups. I don't like taking off the same pounds twice.

It is blooming HOT here today with the humidex it is 110 degrees!! :eek: Man oh Man, I am in the Canadian Maritimes, it is not supposed to be this hot!
I am getting poor hubby to scrape the garage doors to get them ready for the paint job. It is the last thing on our renovation list. I am finishing the last 2 window casings and we should be done!
I have to get back to my work now. Hubby ran out to the hardware store so I thought I would peek in. I have to get him to get something accomplished before his vacation is over!

I think actually talking to everyone last night was a good thing for me. I've been doing REALLY well this morning. Cottage cheese with fruit for breakfast. Got hungry again a few minutes ago and made myself a bowl of salad instead of anything starchy or illegal! :D I'm making some legal cheese dip to have with some Triscuits later (I'm not having any starchy carbs today so I can eat a few Triscuits!) Every day gets easier, I remember that much... so I figure if I blast my way through today OP... I can do it easier tomorrow... and keep going!
I am praying that if I get back on this WOE the way I did to start with, maybe the rest of this will come of like the first 30 did!!! I'm ready to commit again... I know I can do it!
Thanks again everyone... I'm sure I'll be on here a hundred times today, I'm off work with nothing to do but cross-stitch and read... so when I'm tired of those, I'll be checking the board instead of snacking. I'm also gonna try drinking a glass of water when I feel like eating!

Quick question - for those of you that use Pita pockets (ww of course :D) HOW DO YOU KEEP THE DARN THINGS FROM SPLITTING??? I made myself a steak sandwich (lettuce, tomato, little bit of mayo, mustard) and by the time I had the condiments in, one side had split open. :mad:

Good morning to everyone. WIW is looking good. I am down to 158. Haven't seen that for awhile. I have a great fear that because of the meds that I am on and the surgery that I am going to gain and I don't want that.
Got some good new last night. Mt DS and DIL are going to have twins. :dance: They had their first ultra sound yesterday and what a surprise. I think my son is in shock. He was here last week and we were teasing them because DIL belly grew so much in the week they were here that they were going to have twins. Ha!
Did great for dinner last night. Went to Sizzler, not my favorite choice, but had a steak, salad and yam.
Have a question.... how is it that you can change the picture under your name. I have noticed that several of you change them often. I can't figure out how to do that.
Jenn - I use pita's alot and sometimes I will put them in the microwave for a couple of seconds. It softens tham so you can kput all your fix'ns in. sometimes I will put them in the toaster oven before putting a tuna salad in, adds a nice crunch to the sandwich. Here is another idea... hold it flat and cut around so you have two flat pieces, spead a little pizza sauce, pepperonis and cheese, pop it in the toaster oven and you have two great pizza. Sometime I will spread hummus on them instead of pizza sauce. Try it.
Jack-k - 110 yesterday but very little humidity. It is usually very low here, 10% unless the monsoons come up from mexico. We are going to New Orleans in a few weeks and I am hoping that the heat/humidity is on the down side when we get there. We are going gtor hunting and I know it is going to yuky out there. I am taking my bug spray for sure.
Sef - I am hoping that while I am back your way we can meet. I can't make any promises because I am not sure what our plans are. I will let you know the soon the date get here. How have the bugs been in your neck of the woods? We have heard out here that they are really bad. Our friend who we will be visiting in Gonzales has said that they are spraying every evening. How far of a drive in Slidell from New Orleans? When are you going on your trip?

Just like most on here today, I'm up 2# because of mid-cycle hormonal issues. I've been OP, even held off on the NSA ice cream yesterday.
Sent DS on his way this morning and only teared up a tiny bit. I did it again while resting from my 5 a.m. wake-up when I pictured the last image we had of him inside the terminal. Makes me tear up to write about it. Anyway, I'm waiting for his buddy icon to pop up and tell me he's back in his room with the computer running. Thank goodness for instant messenger!
Sounds like chat was the place to be last night. Sorry I missed it. Maybe next week.

for those of you who remember zsuzsu, she had her baby on august 7, a healthy little boy named cooper. mother and baby are doing great, motherhood has definitely agreed with her. she looks great , she did not gain as much as she thought.
must go and pick up sarah from afterschool care. i got off a little early and had some time to myself before i go and get her, grocery shopping and posting to you guys. thanks for the welcome back, i need the support!

Tranquil, try not to be discouraged about being up a little on the weight. You have done so well staying OP and your kidneys are just working Against you this week. And now you have the injured foot problem also. You will see those pounds melting away before long. I can really tell how much weight you’ve lost when you wear your new smaller sizes.
BOB, I’ve tried to keep that girl off of her foot. Going to the mall was really the only thing she did that she shouldn’t have. I did drop her off at the entrance, however, it was a little too far to walk and I told her so. The pull of those smaller size clothes was just too much to fight against.
I think the your DB should be sent away to live with the other 9 kids, wherever they are headed to next! I loved your post about Girlfriends. How true it is!

Monet, I will be sure to let you know when I get up your way to see my Dad. It will definitely be before the end of this year. I was very interested in what you posted to Jenn about Soy. I didn’t know that it binds with the thyroid hormone. My doctor has suggested that I consume more soy products as she has taken Me off HRT due to the recent health concerns about it. I also take Thyroid medication as mine is underactive. Hmm, wonder if the soy might Have an effect on my thyroid. I will have to research it.
Daramus, I’m glad you made it to chat. It was nice to talk with you for the first time. Did you make it to the club and have that beer? I agree with you About letting loose every so often. I think allowing myself occasional indulgences helps me to stay OP much better.

j red, sorry you’ve been feeling so blue. Sounds like you are really close to your DS. What a blessing to have such a relationship with him. my ex-2-b in our 19 years together and it was not easy. I can sure empathize with you at not wanting to have to move.

Been a quiet day. That's good. Heading home to fix fahitis (sp). Now youngest is going to be home for dinner (she wasn't originally) and she doesn't like them. Will have to find something else for her.

I just wanted to pop in and say hello! Still working very hard and keeping a busy calendar with SLAH parties. Seriously, congratulations--that his a great loss! Next week it is my turn, but I may have to buy a new scale as the beating I gave mine may have thrown it out of whack.
So I left for MOntgomery so angry that I wanted to say the **** with it. I mean I've been op for three weeks and NOTHING! But I didn't go off program. I had tuna salad on a bed of lettuce at lunch, some cheese and wasa rye crackers around 5 and then we went to Copelands for dinner where I had the blackened tuna and steamed veggies. I did check the calendar and realized that TOM is due any minute--so the scale won't go anwhere for several days.
Frog--good to see you on the board--it sounds like you are quite busy! I can't wait to see you in September (I'm going to host a SLAH party for Frog when she comes to Columbus next month). Should be lots of fun.
Tranquil--Don't let BOB send you those kids--they are horrible!

Finally, I can get in a half-way decent post. I've decided until I get this modem problem taken care of I'm going to have to do my posts off line, not something I like to do, but if that's what it's going to take!
Today has been a really hard day for me. It started out with seeing the freezer I have outside open and once I got out there I knew that it wasn't good news, most everything had defrosted. I knew without asking that it was Michael who did this. This just started my day out on the right foot (she says, oh so sarcastically). Michael walked in shortly and I just lost it with him. This wasn't the first, not even the 3rd time he's done this. To him, it's not a big deal because to him, most of the food in there he doesn't eat so he doesn't care, and also the fact that he doesn't have to pay for this food, so he doesn't care. I won't go into all the details, but this put me in such a foul mood all day long, even to the point I felt ill all day. What can you do to a kid who's going to be 16 this month? Well, a $100 check he got from my Aunt for his bday, I'm cashing and paying to replace whatever I have to throw away-hit him in the pocket and let him learn! Also, those nudie pictures, makes me want to blow them up and use them as welcome posters!!!!:s:
So with that, I didn't get in my walk this morning. I was going to push myself out there despite this pain I'm still carrying around in my neck down into my arm, don't know what I pulled but whatever it is, it's a doozie.
I did NOT step on the scale today, I don't need to, I know the scale is up and I don't need more stress, esp. today. I will most definitely weigh in next week though. :^:

One thing I did want to post that I had put in my e-mail for all to read was the following that was taken from the book THE TAKE CONTROL DIET by Ian K. Smith, M.D.:
Dieting is often a battle between losing weight and gaining a small portion back, having a great three weeks of following the food and activity plan, then having a week where your body just doesn't want to follow the program anymore. Right from the very beginning you must accept that these minor setbacks will occur throughout your life, but it's the positive mental edge that will allow you once again to take control and get back on course. Don't let these minor interruptions in your winning schedule become major disruptions in the game of life.
Many people enter programs expecting their path to be smooth riding, no rocks or bumps along the way. When they do meet a minor hindrance, they're caught so off guard that they don't have the willpower or confidence to grab the reins and get the horse trotting again. You must develop a plan before you begin your program that maps out how you're going to handle these inevitable setbacks. Develop an emergency plan before you begin your program.
Humor and optimism, not frustration and anger, must constitute your outlook. It's all right to be disappointed in yourself for slipping, but do not let your discouragement slide into self-punishment. Too often, people get so angry at themselves that they throw up their arms in resignation and totally dismiss the weight loss program, and even more sadly, dismiss themselves as a complete failure. If you can laugh at your errors and weakness, then you're more likely to call yourself a funny name, shake your head, and shrug off the 3,500 calorie day simply as a temporary lapse. Pencils have erasers on one end and a point on the other because everyone makes mistakes. Keeping your mind pegged to this reality and occupying positive space will increase your chances of success when encountering these small pockets of failure.
Makes a big impact for those of us who've had a hard time staying OP. Hope you get out of it what I did:D

JENN, I'm wondering if you are eating enough food, from what you post it just doesn't look like you are. Are you journaling at all, knowing what you are taking in calorically? On a personal level, when I was strict on SB I wouldn't eat anything that had corn in it, even if it fell into the 3gram sugar rule. I don't know if the Boca Burgers have the same stuff or not, so can't comment on those. I know many use SF syrup, I do not, I'm trying to stay away from as much artificial stuff as possible, but in a small quantity I'm sure it won't hurt you.
RED1, glad to see you're feeling better each passing day. I did take some time off from walking and though I didn't get in my walk today I am planning on it tomorrow, was able to get in Monday and Tuesday, hard, but glad to get out there.
SEF, glad to see that you indirectly put your foot down with your "friend" and her plans:D Me a computer whiz, not me! I'm so computer illiterate. It's like me and a car, I can drive it and put gas in it, but that's where it ends. I can get on the computer and type, but that's about it, not much else that I'm good at with this stupid thing.
JACKK, thanks for posting that challenge on Monday. I was happy and confident that I would be able to succeed in doing it, thank God!

Just got back from doing my 4.5 miles, which just about killed me in the process. It had to be one of the hottest runs ever. It rained all last night here and I THOUGHT maybe it would be a bit cooler out there due to this, but NOOOOO, I think the humidity was even higher than normal. I was surprised my time was better than earlier this week with the way I felt. I'm just glad I was out there, sure didn't feel like going when I woke up this morning. Eli was pushing me to go telling me I feel much better and find myself in a better state of mind after I go exercise and it's true, he's right and I know it. Much as I thought I was going to pass out on the pavement some times, I'm glad I went.
The house is quiet this morning, thank goodness. Eli had already left for work by the time I got back, Lauren's still asleep and Michael slept at his Dad's house last night and is spending the day at the Camillus House feeding the homeless, part of his community service. Not sure of the plans I have today, nothing exciting, that's for sure. Will see what Lauren may want to do.
For those of you who got my mega e-mail, which honestly, I scaled down and didn't say all I wanted to, but I'm SURE you'd of liked it a bit shorter and maybe easier to understand, once again, THANKS for your understanding!!!:D
I called my friend Mayra, who's husband Jose knows a lot about computers to ask for his help. I'm hoping he can help soon, as he just got back into the country after being away for 10 days and is staying late at work every night. I feel bad to even have to ask anyone for help, but at this point I'm just desperate to get this stupid computer fixed. I'll just have to be patient and continue dukeing it out on the laptop. It wasn't so bad doing last nights post off line, but typing and not seeing what you're typing until a few seconds later just drives me nuts, but I'll just have to suffer a tad:shrug:
I wanted to post this little information that I read in the book I mentioned yesterday by Dr. Ian K. Smith, THE TAKE CONTROL DIET which really, so far in my reading, isn't really a so-called diet, but how to take control of your diet. I do recommend reading it, has lots of good info in it, including stuff about the GI, though I have to say, once again, the info he talks about having to do with SB has some stuff that's incorrect information.
One of the major disappointment that people encounter when losing weight is that what they expected to gain from the weight loss doesn't happen to the degree they had hoped. Some people who have been heavy all of their lives and have been chronically ostracized through social exclusion hope that losing weight will bring them social inclusion. It might be true that people will make less fun of a more normal-size person and behave in a more socially gracious manner, but better that a life of exclusion and embarrassment will be reversed by weight loss is a gamble not worth taking.
People who are mean and small-minded enough to exclude someone for his or her physical appearance are unlikely to change their petty and immature behavior because of that person's alteration in weight and appearance. In fact, when dieters reach that target weight yet don't collect the rewards they hoped it would bring, the spiritual and psychological disappointment only serves as a trigger to undo all that has been done. The disappointed no longer find value in their long sacrifice and hard work and thus return to the bad habits of overeating, consuming unhealthy foods, and finding themselves engaged in more sedentary behaviors.
Your first commitment must be to losing weight for you and only you. This sounds selfish, and it should be, because you're the one who must cuts back on those favorite between-meal snacks. You'll be the one taking more flights of steps and turning down car rides so that you can walk and kick-start your metabolism. The work will fall squarely on our shoulders, as should the satisfaction. Dieters who tie their own satisfaction to external approval often find themselves in a cycle of hope and disappointment.

Also, another interesting tidbit in the book was about yo-yo dieting:
The consequences of yo-yo dieting were first observed by a researcher at Yale. Using rats, he examined the effects of repeated cycles of weight loss and regain. He found that not only did it take the rats longer to lose the weight on subsequent cycles, but they also gained it back faster the more they cycled. First, the rats were put on a calorie-restricted diet. After a certain period of time, they were refed. During the second cycle of restriction, the rats needed a total of forty-six days to lose the weight that had taken them only twenty-one days previously. It was also easier for future weight gain. It took the rats only fourteen days on the second off-cycle to regain the same amount of weight that had taken them forty-six days to gain previously.
There are no completed studies yet in humans to confirm this yo-yo diet effect, but athletes will paint a similar picture if you ask them about their course of weight loss and weight gain between seasons.
There's a couple more things I want to quote from the book that I will do a bit later on, but there's so good reading in that book, so if you go to the library, see if they have it available.

Quick post from me today - we're going live with the new website in a few minutes, so everyone's in a tizzy this morning!
WIW - I didn't weigh in. I'll save that for my weight watchers meeting on Saturday. I don't trust my scale at home anyway. My digital is in storage, so when we move into the new house, I'll have to find it and give it a home. :)
Deb - according to Weight watcher's "points", I am taking in enough calories, BUT I am not eating enough fruits and veggies. I need to get into a routine of buying them weekly, so I always have them on hand. I am not too worried about going over on "points" as long as it's fruit or veggies - after all, as someone once said, no one was overweight from eating too many apples (tomatoes, asparagus, etc.). :lol:
Good news on the house front - I've been 100% approved for the loan, so it looks like in just over two weeks I will be a homeowner! :D
I've gotta run - we should be live any minute!

Have I been busy or what..:) But life is good. I am feeling soooo much better. The scales are flucuating up and down a pound or two depending on the day. But you know what..I'm okay with that. I've found since joining the group and not losing I've been too obsessed with the whole thing. Remembering who I am on the inside is as important as who I am becoming on the outside and I think I lost focus of that. My mom gave me the cutest bikini..yep bikini...LOL I won't ever be able to wear it in public but I have it for here at the house...it's a good reminder of where I've been and where I'm going. :)
We shot our bows last night..didn't too badly. I was trying a friends bow and his string slipped my release...ouch. It's sore but not too bad. They had me ice it down with a cold pepsi one. Good thing is I got to keep the pepsi one..LOL If my kids don't snatch it, it will be nice treat one day this weekend.
Wendy Thanks for the trivia facts..they were cool. I love stuff like that. Congratulations on the weight loss. You are doing so good.
Sabrina That weight will be off in no time lady...don't get discouraged. When your foot heals you will be back to walking and doing the things that not only help the weight loss but help the mood. Are you having that scan today still? I hope you heal quickly.
Deb I am so sorry for all the struggles you are having with staying on plane since April. I soooo relate. It's been up and down since Dec for me. Before Dec. no off plan food passed these lips..except 2 or 3 chips which were in my personal plan. After the cake for my b-day I have been way to lax. I took Jack-K's challenge this week...and BOOM...corn cassarole was my down fall last night. And you know what's so bad...I can't say it wasn't wonderful because it was. But like you I AM going to get back OP and not sabatoge myself. I will not let statistics suck me into thinking the weight has to come back on. It doesn't. Hello again! Well two children are through with school for the day and two more to go. The fifth one is probably still in bed. He is at his aunts. On to the recipe...:)
Refridge Pickles
One to two cucumbers sliced, peeled (they are pretty if you cut half the green away in strips)
5 packets of splenda
apple cider vinager
water
garlic poweder
pinch of salt
The pickles are so easy and you really can't go wrong. You can add spices of your choice or leave the garlic out.
I add about a cup of water to 1/4 cup vinager...sorry I don't measure. Add the splenda and spices...stir till dissolved and add sliced peeled cucumbers.
Let sit in fridge a couple of hours..waa laaa pickles. :)
Low in calories and make a nice crunchy snack.

Happy Thursday Gang!
We finally got some much needed rain last night. It stopped around 8, so DH wanted to take a walk. So we made it 3 miles. That made a total of 5 for me yesterday. I really didn't want to walk again at 5:00 today, but I did and glad I went. Maybe tonight I can get 3 more in.
So far so good with eating this week. I even made it w/o NSA ice cream last nite. I have to learn to control that. I should have never added it back in. But I guess sometime in my life I will have to learn to control what I eat. :o
Bob, You wanted those kids. You need to take care of them!
Frog, Glad to see your SLAH is doing so well. I wish you were closer so I could have a party. Are you still on SB? How is your eating? Good luck to you.
Mercy, I think size is the biggest part of this WOE. The scale may not move, but all of a sudden inches are gone. In my book that is better.
Fillise, You have to remember that 4 of those were vacation gains. So I really only lost 1. Don't gang up on me just yet. I'm sure you will see a big loss soon if you have been OP for 3 weeks. Maybe not in numbers as much as inches. Good luck.

Jack-K, The NSA ice cream is one of my weaknesses also. I especially love the Blue Bunny flavors. I've done good at not having it as often as I would really like to. Good for you on the walking. My neighbor has been dragging me out for walks and we made it 2 miles last night. I always tell her I don't feel like going but she has a way of not taking no for an answer. Guess that is good for me that she won't let me be a slacker about it.

Tranquil is having her bone scan done this afternoon. Hopefully, we will know something about her foot very soon.
Well, this is the day I've been looking forward to as my husband is moving out. The only problem is that it just doesn't feel as good as I thought it was going to. I've realized this week, just how much I've been in denial about the pain involved in this divorce process. The reality of it hit me when I started sorting out items to let him have for his new bachelor apartment. I've been so angry at him for tearing our family apart, that I was sure I would only feel relief. Instead, the sadness is greater than the relief at this time. I hate having to admit that my heart has been broken. I know it will get better in time, but I just wish I didn't feel the way I do right now. I'm sorry to whine as I don't like to. It helps just to be honest about how I feel. I'm just thankful that old habits aren't kicking in and making me want to eat my way to comfort. I'm very thankful to have the blessing of such a wonderful friend like Tranquil for support, and for this group!

My the Board has gotten busy!
Have been busy as usual. Went to church yesterday morning to do music work, came home to change and went with a friend to AARP meeting. After the meeting we went to someone's house for a couple of hours. First time I had met the person although she was a friend of my friend. We had a lovely time, lots of laughs! As a result of the AARP meeting I was on the front page of the local newspaper. Our State Rep. was the guest speaker and a picture was taken, he was standing right in front of our table, so I made the paper. Funny, I was surprised when I saw it. It's the first time I've looked at a picture and said "Yeah, I have lost weight!"
Today I did the nursing home bit like always.
Poor Deb! We all know how hard it is to struggle with our demons! She needs our prayers and support right now, she has given us hers for so long.
JACKK: Maybe we should you some of our rain. DS is out mowing again! I'm still OP!

RED1: The planes fly overhead almost every night. I am going to a picnic tomorrow night, because of the mosquitos and the Nile Virus it has been changed to an indoor picnic! Rain everyday. HHH! I am going to MD, PA, NJ, PA, MD in that order. Will fly into MD to see my DD, she's taking me to Doylestown where I will spend a weekend with my DB, he will take me to NJ to be with my DSis, then I will rent a car to visit a couple of friends in NJ and drive to Milford, where my DD will pick me up and we will go back to MD for a few days together and then home! More than you wanted to know. About 45 minutes from N.O. of which I know nothing about driving in! TWINS! There were twins in both my MIL ansd FIL families and there have been none since.
Congratulations to all the losers! Condolences to all the stay the sames.
Am so tired, going to take a a snooze!

Hi guys.
So far so good for me today....been 100% OP. Last night I hit the ice cream....but I'm determined to be good today!!
I think once we loose weight and its been off for a few months, we forget how horrible it is not to be able to throw some clothes on with ease. At my highest weight, my clothes were horrible, nothing stylish....I did not want to go any were. I have to constantly think about that and not let my self get off track. No I'm not down as much as I would like, but YES, I can throw on a pair of jeans and a shirt with ease. I'm not trapped in strecth pants and giant t shirts and that is a great feeling!!

Hi All: I am back from my foot scan - I got as far reading the posts as Country - and thank you Country, I am holding strong and steady and continuing to keep on track with Jack-k's challenge - I am 100% OP! Meanwhile, did scan - the right foot that is hurting me and is tender is clean on the bone scan, while my left foot was flourescent glowing with one huge hot spot on the instep/arch and one on the center of my heel (heel spur). So - go figure - waiting for doctor to call to give me the results.... also waiting for other doctor to give me results on blood lab work - re: hormone and thyroid levels.....
Bob - Fillise - about those kids! Once I whip them into shape, I won't be giving them back - Deb and Serene can attest to the fact that I want everyone's dogs, cats and children to come home with me ;)
Well this crazy SBer is going to stick her head back into the many files piled on my desk and get a working away.....
BB3 tonight - I am guessing that Josh will stay and Roddy will be out?????

Thanks for the support and encouragement. :) I had a great time out last night and I only drank a 6 pack. Had a slight headache this morning, but it didn't last long. I've been OP for the most part and I hope the scale will start going down soon.
Deb - I have one piercing in each ear. So I guess you could say I match now. My next will probably be an eyebrow piercing, but I haven't decided yet. If you are thinking to get one, I say go for it! Personally, I really think piercings on women are very.... ummm... sexy. I really dig them. :D But you have to decide! I could really relate to the articles you posted earlier. Thanks for posting them. So much of this WOE is mental and having the right outlook (at least for me).

I'm sure you are going through a lot of mixed emotions today with ex2b moving out. Divorce is like death. You still have to go through the grieving process. Take your time. Daramus, hope those 6 beers don't hurt you. My DH drinks many more than that each week and he has lost about 30 lbs. But he doesn't have a lot to lose and not watching it like we are. And of course, you guys lose quicker than us girls. Good luck.

My company finally left. I just loved to visit and enjoyed my grandsons and DIL. But now am pooped and ready to back to a normal routine and get my house back in shape. I stayed the same this week. Which is not disappointing to me as I haven't been drinking my water. Even though I didn't go off program. I was made the gift of some sugar free candy and I don't think that was really good for me. Also found out that the wheat tortilla's I got a hold of had 3 grams of sugar in them. Sure was disappointed because I really had enjoyed them. And have two packages left in my freezer. Oh well live and and learn huh. Here I go again and sure have missed you all and my time here on the computer. Toni

Chris Thank you I will. I use a mechanical release and the string just pushed through the tiniest of cracks. I hope it's not wearing out. They are expensive and I am so picky. I like the one I have. But I would replace it before I let that happen again. Praise God I didn't have it pulled back very far. If I had dry released a full pull...don't wanna know. :)
You are so right about the clothes. When I was big..I had two pairs of jeans to choose from and a few large t-shirts I felt "hidden" in.

Hi everyone!
I am new to SB. I am on my 4th day and doing pretty well. Like everyone I have tried everything and I am just looking for a lifestyle change. I want this to be it. I am so tired of being overweight. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant and I want to get healthy for that as well. I am at a all time high weight wise. I weighed Monday at 209. My goal right now is 170. I know it is going to take time but I am ok with that. I hope you guys don't mind me joining in with you. You seem so close and so full of support!

Hello My Friends!
I'm just popping in to say HI! I miss all of you so much! I've been so busy getting ready for school and doing all of the work that I brought home for the summer! Naturally, I've put it off until now! We started school yesterday - we have 2 faculty inservice days and the kids come on Monday. So far, my room is the talk of the town! Everyone loves the LSU theme - especially my boss. She says that she will come in daily when she gets stressed out. I said NO WAY! She'll be coming in my room to de-stress and causing me to have stress!! HAHA! Oh well, we'll see!
I'll try to be back on board next week! I miss everyone!! By the way, my eating has been crappy - is that such a surprise?

BETH, got your telephone number as you know, will call you soon! It's funny when you think about it, those mashed potatoes not tasting as good as you thought they would. It's interesting to see what foods we use to eat that, if not on plan and we eat them, they just don't seem to have the same appeal they use to. I find that when I cheat, it's usually something I've never had before, or a food that's my major downfall-you won't see me cheating on a baked potato, bananas, and other stuff like that-no, if I cheat, it's new and exciting junk food for me, or those good ol standby's from days of old. Glad to hear you're back on track, and yes, it does get easier each day:D
JENN, if you are putting something in a pita pocket that's a bit wet, usually if you stick the top part you sliced off to fill it in the bottom, that should help, or a piece of lettuce if it goes with what you are eating, stick that in the bottom. When we make falafel sandwiches usually the lettuce is at the bottom and it takes time for the sauce to filter down to where it becomes a problem. On the WW points, are you doing the low end, average or higher end of the amount of points? Just from what you post, it just doesn't seem like it's enough. Hey, congrats on the house-that's awesome and exciting news!!!
SERENE, CONGRATS on your 2lb loss. I think you have to come down to the Detox Dungeon more often, it seems to agree with you! Hope that Lindsay is feeling better and things with your Mom go well. Liked what you posted on the trivia, very interesting facts that I certainly didn't know., esp. about the spit - yuck!

HUNNY, as it was already answered, it's fine to eat that Hunt's sauce-you will see sugar grams in items like that, as well as milk and some other products that you won't see sugar listed in as an ingredient. Just make sure you read all your labels and if there's no sugars, hidden or obvious, then they are naturally occuring, and not to worry about.
CHERYL, what's in the V8? Better to eat your veggies if you can, more fiber that way and more filling, I would think. EZEKIEL BREAD, I eat the one in the green wrapper. The only thing in the one you mentoned is the barley malt, but if it falls under the 3grams sugar rule, then it's okay to eat a serving of it.

I have the SB SHOPPERS GUIDE and found it useful when I first started SB, was easy to throw in my purse and use for reference when going to the grocery store.
FILLISE, thanks for mentioning the oil change, I'm wayyyy over due for mine, by about 2,000 miles. Have to get that done, and soon. I hope they won't find anything else wrong, when they do, it always comes with some sticker shock!!!:eek: I hope your scale finds it's way to the dump, or did you have a change of heart and bring it back in??
JRED, how did DH's interviews go? What type of position is he looking to find?
TRANQUIL, I too have been totally 100% OP and I know I am up. I don't need to step on that scale, just strapping on my fanny pack that I use when I walk is evident enough. Tighter than a vice on me now, and I REFUSE to loosen it one millimeter!!! I know the scale will go down, it has to, but may take a little time. So, if the bone scan is clean on the foot that's been bothering you, why is it bothering you?

JACKK, CONGRATS on your great loss this week! Doesn't matter if you had vacation pounds that you had once lost, gained and lost again. The fact that you lost that amount of weight in a week says a lot about you staying OP this week, and having the added bonus of losing a new pound of new found weight is an added plus. Good job girlfriend!! Good job for leaving out the SF ice cream too. I'm not touching any of that stuff any time soon.:nono:
TRISH, at least you know you aren't alone this week when it comes to the scale, you are definitely in good company!!!

DARAMUS, 6 pack? Whoa, I'd been passed out on the floor after a few sips. I'm really thinking about this piercing, have done so off and on for years, but wonder if I'm a bit too old to have something like this. I can't say I'm a fan of eyebrow piercings though, to me those have no great asthetic look. I'd much rather see a guy with a good body and a nipple ring;)
TONI, glad to see you back on the board!!! I personally don't care so much for SF candy, but if you have a problem with it, ditch it. I hate throwing anything away but sometimes it's better than having it around and the temptation that goes along with it.

It looks like we might be getting more rain this morning. The ground can use it but it's the pits for walking since I have a dirt road. That's okay..will just pick out a dusty video and do some aerobics. Yesterday I was lazy so I did the Billy Blanks crunch video instead of Tae Bo..it's slower. I don't mind working long or hard...but I prefer a slower pace with a nice warm up.
Deb I don't think I was clear about the bikini....I cannot be seen in it...LOL Just have it. I will put it on from time to time to see how I'm doing. :) As for the other WL group..it's more like a learn to love yourself group. It's part of my Christian ladies group online. It's called Big and Beautiful. Most of us are trying to lose but the focus is to learn to love ourselves. I truly think with that comes the weight loss.
Ut oh..the lights are surging again...better hurry before I lose my post. If I don't make it back on today, ya'll have an awesome OP weekend.

Morning everyone! Whew I'm looking a lot of leaves and branches in my back yard this moring. We had some terrific storms last night and this morning I've lot some HUGE branches down in the back (the front looks like it didn't even rain!)
I'm heading to Birmingham tonight for meetings all day tomorrow? Have we got anyone on the board from Birmingham? I thought I might hit the Summit tonight for a little window shopping!
Good day yesterday--after a meeting that ran late last night, I stopped at my favorite Chinese restaurant and got a pint of egg drop soup to bring home--boy was it good. I thought the owner (the mother of a former student of mine) would just get me the stuff off the buffet, but she went into the kitchen and got me some with spinach, shrimp, crab, and scallops. it was terrific! I've got half in the fridge for lunch today. So, I'm going to remember that for nights when I need to pick up something! There are no noodles in it--just chicken broth, egg and seafood, YUM!
OK--my scale says I gain two or three lbs every time I step on it. Deb I did bring it in--but after the beating I gave it with the hairbrush on wed--I think I broke it. I'm serious--even Belle weighs three pounds more when she steps on the scale--and that would practically double her body weight! So I'm going to buy a new scale when I get back---or maybe not. I can always weigh at the gym.
Wendy--it's never a reflief to have your heart broken. But with him out of the house maybe you can start to mend it now.
Crystle--I bet you look pretty hot in that bikini! Strut your stuff girlfriend!
Deb--for me the "extra" was a new tire. But the old one was pretty worn (the other three were fine). My car has over 100,000 miles on it, so I try to keep up the maintenance. I also joined AAA just in case!
Missy--good luck with the first day of school! I hope you can get your eating back on track--you really will feel better!
BOB--Uh-oh--my newspapers this morning had some bad news for the UT folks. Bama starts their appeal today.

Someone sent me an article that said the way to
achieve inner peace is to finish things you've started.
It is definitely working for me.
I am now making a point of always finishing what I
start, and I think I am well on my way toward finding inner peace.
Because I care for you, I am passing this wisdom on to you.
Here are the things that I have finished today:
two bags of potato chips,
a strawberry cheesecake,
a package of Oreo's,
a bottle of wine,
and a small box of chocolates.
I think this really works because I feel better already!!!

Happy Friday Gang!
Glad it's finally here. I'm in a funk today. Had nightmares all night and woke up at 3:00 and couldn't get back to sleep until about 20 minutes before the alarm went off. Of course.:) So I didn't get up and walk. Will try to get it in tonite or just go a day w/o it.:( Don't know what's wrong, just in a rotten mood. Guess I need someone to just slap me. :s:
I take it we will not be able to get on the board all weekend.
How has everyone done with the challenge? I've made it all week OP. Anyone else. I'm sure everyone did too. Now don't blow all your hard work, keep it up for the weekend. :D
Toni, glad you will be back with us on a regular basis. Good for you staying OP through all that company. I have trouble with the sf candy too. I had to give my box to a girl in the office to keep for me. I couldn't stay away from it.

A great big good morning everyone. It feels so great to be back. And its so nice to have some routine to my life. I'm feeling a little more rested today. I'm expecting a very laid back quiet week-end. And that suits me fine for a change. I've got a bit of housework to catch up on to. And a new dream book by Slyvia Browne to read. I'm right OP and hope to start my treadmill today. LOL is this me? or someone writing in my place?
Chris- To be able to throw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt is such a dream of mine and you're so lucky. I wear the the elastic top jeans now and large baggy t-shirts. I know I could look a little better but still want to hide myself. I hope I always remember how bad I want this.
Jack-K- I'm sorry I missed your challenge. I needed it now. But today I'll start on my own and do the very best I can everyday till next Friday. So I'll be hanging back there a week late.
Tranquil-So sorry you're having such horrible trouble with your feet. I can't imagaine how painful that has to be. I hope you're better soon. I've heard heel spurs are awful.. Wasn't that just plain surpriseing that Josh got all five votes I was sure it was Roddy. I think they didn't think that right because Roddy is such a strong player.

Okay, Okay, so I haad a senior moment and posted Friday Funnies yesterday!
Friday is housecleaning day. So wash is washing, dust has been dusted and bed has been stripped. I'll save vacuuming for tomorrow. I'm am going to a Young At Heart party this evening. I am making a layered salad of lettuce, onion, hard boiled eggs, celery, sliced mushrooms, cucumber, thawed frozen peas topped with grated cheese, sugar (Splenda) and dressing. I know I'll be able to eat something! Although they are having turkey and ham, evryone is bringing sides and desserts.
I know some of you like the Survivor reality shows. I guess I'll have to watch. A local man, a pastor, is one of the contestants for the Thailand show this season.
CHRISB: I still don't throw on clothes with ease. I don't have that much that fits me anymore, have been putting off buying new because of $ but will have to give in and buy some so I look halfway deceent for trip. Penney's and Dillard's are having sales tomorrow so may run in and see what they have. I still have Xmas gift certificates!
TRANQUIL: Very often when we have a pain, we over-compensate by using the opposite side more for weight bearing and lifting. This causes undue stress on the unaffected side and relieves the affected side. Got That? I hope you will get some relief. Stay away from the mall! Keep off your feet a while! I know, I know, easier said than done!
DARAMUS: Those were the days when I could drink a six pack by myslf or a bottle of Southern Comfort. That's right! I went to a party years ago (remember, I'm OLD) and I was the only one that drank SC. Around 2a when the party broke up there was about one shot left in the bottle, they wanted me to kill it,but by then I said I had enough! I hope you drank plenty of water! Boozr dehydrates you!
JACKK: Still OP! SLAP! SLAP! There'as a double just in case the first doesn't work!
TONI: One thing about being a grandparent is you can spoil the grandkids rotten and then send them home as a way of getting even with your kids!!! I always think it is fun to have family and company, but by the end of the visit it is a relief to wave bye-bye and get back to normalcy! If someone is writing in place, sounds like they have a good plan so follow it!
COUNTRY: Whenever I have my picture taken I always want it from the neck up! I guess that's why the picture in the paper shocked me, it was unposed and showed me warts and all! The warts weren't as big as I thought they were! A bikini? WOW!
MARCIE: WELCOME!!! We're so glad you joined us. We are a great bunch of caring people! We are close, some of us have even met which for me has been such fun!
FRUIT: Glad your room is such a hit. See all the stress you provided yourself by procratinating on your pre-school work. Now it is time to stop procratinating on getting your eating out of the crappy stage and back to OP! Have missed you on the Board. Hope you will be on regularly again once the school routine settles down.
DEB: I don't know if the paper has a web site or not. Will have to check. That fanny pack weight measurer is good. That's how I judge how I'm doing, my clothes.
FILLISE: A friend in a Chinese restaurant, how cool! Makes it easier to get special treatment. I love chinese! I need a friend. Not all places are cooperative. "No we don't" and that's it! Wouldn't go back.
We are having the house resided. I pity anyone who works outside in this weather. Of course, in PA I pitied them in the winter!

The Nagging Wife
An old Chickamauga farmer had a wife who nagged him unmercifully.
From morning till night (and sometimes later), she was always complaining about something. The only time he got any relief was when he was out plowing with his old mule. He tried to plow a lot.
One day, when he was out plowing, his wife brought him lunch in the field.
He walked the old mule into the shade, sat down on a stump, and began to eat his lunch.
Immediately, his wife began giving him a hard time, nag, nag; it just went on and on. All of a sudden, the old mule lashed out with both hind feet; caught her smack in the back of the head. Killed her dead on the spot.
At the funeral several days later, the minister noticed something rather odd. When a woman mourner would approach the old farmer, he would
listen for a minute, then nod his head in agreement; but when a man
mourner approached him, he would listen for a minute, then shake his head in disagreement.
This was so consistent, the minister decided to ask the old farmer about it. So after the funeral, the minister spoke to the old farmer, and asked him why he nodded his_ head and agreed with the women, but always shook his head and disagreed with all the men.
The old farmer said: "Well, the women would come up and say something about how nice my wife looked, or how pretty her dress was, so I'd nod my head in agreement."
"And what about the men?" the minister asked._
"Well", said the farmer, "they wanted to know if the mule was for sale."

The Brain
In the hospital the relatives gathered in the waiting room, where their
family member lay gravely ill.
Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and somber. "I'm afraid I'm the
bearer of bad news," he said as he surveyed the worried faces.
"The only hope left for your loved one at this time is a brain transplant.
It's an experimental procedure, very risky but it is the only hope."
"Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the
brain yourselves."
The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. After a great
length of time, someone asked, "Well, how much does a brain cost?"
The doctor quickly responded, "$5,000 for a male brain, and $200 for a
female brain."
The moment turned awkward. Men in the room tried not to smile, avoiding eye contact with the women, but some actually smirked. A man, unable to control his curiosity, blurted out the question everyone wanted to ask, "Why is the male brain so much more?"
The doctor smiled at the childish innocence and explained to the entire
group, "It's just standard pricing procedure. We have to mark down the
price of the female brains, because they've actually been used."

Well, I haven't done much posting this week, but thought I'd get on the board before it went off for the weekend.
First, Debbie, glad to have you back. Hope your 'puter gets fixed soon. Its amazing how much these infernal machines play a big part in our life. I can remember going into the computer building at UF in 1960 and their showing us this wonderful machine. It took up a huge room and didn't do as much as my little desktop does now for me. How times have changed.
Debbie--we're all in this together. So, when you struggle we are behind you in getting back on the road to success. I think that your story reminds us that this is a fact of life for us: we are in this for the long haul and our WOE must always be careful and monitored. There are some people (we all know some) that are skinny and can eat ANYTHING and never gain an ounce. We are different. Actually, we are probably more like the norm. So, we will just have to face the fact that we must always be vigilant. Thank you, Deb, for reminding us of this. You are our object lesson. We needed it!
I read something this morning in a daily reading that I do and it was apropos to our challenge with eating and weight. So I offer it as food for thought. There is a spiritual element to it, so those of you who don't see life as having a spiritual dimension might want to just skip down to the next paragraph.

I found the above to be helpful for me. BTW, this was a short comment about the Jewish prophet Ezekiel, who was living in Babylon along with his people during their capture and exile after Jerusalem fell in 587BC. The message Ezekiel was giving to the other Jewish captives was one that they did not want to hear--one almost beyond their belief--and so he had to stay faithful over the long haul as he explained to them the reason for their dire situation. Fascinating history!
Well, it's almost 2 pm. here and it hasn't rained yet. That's a first for this week! BOB, you doing OK over there in soggy west Florida? And FILLISE, I know how devastating those summer storms can be. I remember one year, perhaps 6 years ago, driving over to Auburn from Callaway Gardens and seeing the mess on the interstate from a huge storm that had gone through a week or so earlier. Even some of the highway signs had been torn up!

Debbie, I've gotten my daytimer out and have decided to start journaling. I did that about 10 years ago. I had just turned 50 and was thin, thin, thin after about 5 months of watching every miniscule piece of food that even got near me. That and 5 months of some very rigorous weight training took that fat right off this body and I was a babe. I was wearing a size 4. But when I stopped journaling and began to eat
"normally," those pounds crept right back on. I actually got sick of writing down everything, but it worked, and so perhaps I'll have to do that again. I do know that for me I'll always have to be careful. That's just a fact of life for some people, and, sad to say, I'm one of those people. I also wonder if being past the "Big M" makes a difference. Or is it just something that has become a dumping ground for excuses for why we "can't" lose weight. Any opinions?
Well, Changing Rooms is on. Its the Brit equivalent of Trading Spaces, which is one of the few programs I LOVE!! So, off to see some interesting and sometime weird decorating. Ta Ta and see ya'll on Monday.

Hello all! Just finished my lunch. Had a dry salad with some smelly cheese..(parmesan) :) The rains never came so I decided to walk instead. I have one word HOT! Man I had no idea it was almost 95 when I got out there. Needless to say I cut off half a mile and about 7 minutes. Enough was enough. We shoot dart (computer hunt) tonight and I didn't want to get too wiped out.
Gator Thanks for the motiviation. It couldn't have come at a better time. A friend just told me today she has never weighed beyond a 10 pound difference. I can' imagine. I've been as low as 118 and as high as 235. And spent most of my life in the middle. I've watched my weight since the 8th grade. I first got fat in the 5th grade. Food has always been an issue as long as I can remember. I've never journaled. I think it's neat you can. I tried fit day but I was so unfaithful.
Shirley That salad sounds delicious. I love fresh mushrooms...I like mushrooms period. Have you ever tried one of those large ones they grill in the place of meat? I would love to try one sometime.
Toni You are such an encouragment. I'm so jealous in a good way....wtg on the treadmill. I want one sooooo bad. :)

Sorry to have been MIA for so long. Lots of things going on in my family & my life that I didn't even turn my computer on for a whole week. Even then, scanned thru email quickly & got off. Just haven't had the UN_VEES like we say in cajun counrty.
The mosquitoes have been really bad here with all the rain. I have standing water in my yard & even under my house, so I spend as little time outside as possible. No walking here!
As I scanned the board, I saw a few things that I would quickly like to respond to.
SEF Thanks for posting my message to the board. I do appreciate you for sooooo many reasons. I enjoy the emails that you send & have enjoyed hearing from you & all the encouragement you have given me during this family crisis. I hope that all works out for you with your trip. Sounds like it should be lots of fun. Oh, also LOVED the FF about Christians & the light bulb. :lol:
Jack-K, I LOVED your challenge to the board! Seems to have encouraged many to stay OP this week. You know, when I first started SB almost 4 years ago, I would follow the SB plan all week, then take 1 day off on the week-end to eat something I enjoyed, & still lost. It would give me a break & I didn't feel like I was depriving myself of foods that I was hungry for.
Red1, When are you coming to Gonzales??? That is about 3 hours away from me. Maybe we could arrange a meeting of all us LA SB gals, Sef, Fruit, & me too? Think about it! Guess it would all depend on when it is, but sounds like it would be lots of fun.
Wendy, Sorry to hear that you are having all these feelings stirred up with EX moving out, but hang in there girl. You'll be OK after things are settled & you'll be more at ease. Debelli, Sorry to hear that you've been having so much trouble getting back on plan, but hey, we're all human & have our weaknesses. You are no different from us. We're all fighting the same battle. Thanks for coming clean because as I said in the email, It will only encourage the rest of us to try harder knowing that you are having the same problems we are with staying OP. It's easy to look the other way once we have met goal cause we feel good about having achieved something we've worked hard at, then we celebrate. Here in LA, we celebrate EVERYTHING with food! LOL We just need to remember to stay at goal, we have to continue to follow our plan & not loose focus.
Well, got to go. Chatting with DD from TX, then have to start supper in a bit. Have shrimp fresh defrosting & plan to make a shrimp & pasta dish.

This is the first time I've been on the computer all week. Just haven't felt up to it. I'm in a real funk right now:( Hubby quit his job and hasn't worked all week. We live paycheck to paycheck, so this has put us in a real bind. I just hope he can find some work next week. I have totally let my eating get the best of me.:mad: I've had nothing but illegal,fatty foods all week long and way too much of it. I know I have gained- I can see it in my face. I was at 229, now I'm sure I'm back into the 230's.:stress: I need to get motivated again. What's wrong with me?!! Just really sick of it. Anyway, as for Boogie, he's had diarreha(sp?) from the antibiotics he was on. I know I changed AT LEAST 15 diapers yesterday. Poor guy gets everything. He has an appt on the 22nd with his PC. They will probably give us a surgery date. Not looking forward to it at all. I just found out that another heart baby I know of died a few days ago. Anyway, I want to get back on track. Could some of you post what things you grab to eat(when in a hurry) that are legal and what you snack on during the day. I think I'm tired of my SB routine and it needs to be spiced up.

Jack-K, I appreciate the sweet thoughts you've sent my way. I am a little better today than yesterday. I agree that divorce is like death as for the grieving process. I just wish divorce was as final as death so that there wasn't this dead weight hanging around that I still have to deal with. But, I guess it has to be since there are kids involved. Well, on the up side, I've been OP 100% and enjoyed the challenge. How about one for next week?

I had my appointment with my GYN today and the timing couldn't have been better. I was almost in a panic when I went as I woke up with some really abnormal symptoms going on. I Won't go into detail and gross anybody out. Anyway, I had two biopsies done and will find out on the 27th what the problem may be. I am hoping something shows up so that I can have that hysterectomy that I think I need. I will keep my fingers crossed!

Hi y'all. Looking forward to the weekend anyone????? I guess I'm as ready as I'm ever going to be for school to start Monday. I had to go and buy a fan for my room today. The AC doesn't seem to be working in my room.:eek: But the room is decorated and ready to go.
Did some shopping at lunch with a friend. Found a couple of outfits. Hope Dennis doesn't mind.:s: Going for a hair cut tomorrow. I know he won't like that, but I DON'T CARE:lol:
Eating has not been great. Too many goodies at inservice this week. I've been OP today tho so maybe I will do better.

Another hot day in the mojave desert. I have stayed OP pretty good this week. Not sure what next week will bring. I am going with my husband to Elko NV. He has a fire training class there at the college. I am not sure if I will have a computer so if not I will talk to you all the following week. Trust everyone will have a great weekend and a OP week.
Serene - Hope you feel better soon. I can relate as you know. I pray that everything will be ok and that you get the hysteroctomy. Some just don't understand why ladies want that kind of surgery.
Melf - I will be in the area the 6-11 Sep. We are going gator hunting at a private hunting club Sat and Sun. Not sure what we will be doing Mon - Wed. Where do you live exactly?? I am not sure how to get to the bio board while I am posting and I don't want to loose what I have. I will let you all know more as the time gets closer. I'd love to get together.

Wanted to post before we are shut down. I hope you all are winding down from your work and looking forward to a restful weekend.
Scales were back to 162 today, so I feel better. I'd hoped to be further along than this after a year, but 34 pounds is better than sitting at 196 and probably more if I hadn't started SB last August. I think I started around August 8, so I'm looking at a year and a week living this WOE. The only time I've given any thoughts of "why bother" were this past week. I attribute some of that to my DH's job situation and our financial concerns and DS going back to school so far away. I know how quickly those thoughts can sabatoge me, so I try to vanquish them as quickly as possible.
Deb: Hope you are getting that 'puter fixed faster than I am. I call the Dell service line every day to check the status of my laptop motherboard and the recording says "your order has been released to the manufactorer for assembly" DH says they probably had to build it from scratch because it's old (2 years!) and the new ones won't fit it. I got spoiled being able to stay downstairs in the living room and type my little fingers off chatting and emailing. Our other desktops are upstairs and I don't like being up here away from everything. I'm such a whiney baby, huh?
Fruit: Hope you love your new class! Don't let the principal stress you out when she comes in to de-stress. Have an LSU cup full of water or juice there for her to sip on while she chills! Let me know if you need any ideas for working with those gifted kiddos.
Daramus: You have been a rowdy boy here lately! :devil: Keep having fun, and have some for me while you're at it. I can't afford to have any right now.
Serene: I'm thinking about you and hoping your feelings ease. This changes are so hard to deal with, even when we want them. Hang in there, girlfriend!:)
Sef: Funny thing, I was born in Mansfield, LA, grew up in Monroe and taught for a year in Bossier. Never thought there'd be a chance of moving back. And even if my DH gets the job, he'd commute. His parents live just north of Bossier and he could stay with them on weekdays. Our DD is a senior and there's no way we could move her this year. And I'm committed to a five year deal with my school district to get my Masters of Education. Thought that might be good to have before I retire! This is my 26th year of teaching.
Heartmom: {{{{HUGS}}}}. I know the stress of DH being out of work. And with Boogie's problems, you have more than your share. I don't have any sage wisdom to give, but if there's any way you can get out of your house, do it. Even if it's just to go out in the car (with the a.c. on, of course:cool: ) for a little while, you go. You need to be alone to relieve that stress.
CM4H: How's the hurt from the bow? My uncle and cousins are big into archery. My cousin and his wife were national champions. They live in AZ.
Beth: How's it going with both your boys gone all day? You getting bored yet? I'm glad they like their schools. Hope your female problems are settling. Can you tell if the bc pills are working, yet?

Our special teachers do, and it irritates them to no end because the teachers always work programs and field trips in such a way that the kids go to music and p.e. so they (the classroom teachers) can have their break. We still have 2 weeks before kids come and I feel so funny NOT working. I went up to the school today and arranged my room. I still have a couple of days worth of unpacking and decorating to do.
Jenn: Thinking about you and your surgery coming up. Congrats on the house! How's the new website? What company is it for, BTW?

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! Day 5 has gone well. I am cooking Lasagna for dinner. I found whole wheat lasagna noodles and a sauce that has no sugar in it. Hope it is good. I still am not sure if I am doing this thing right. Here is my menu for the week...feel free to comment on any of it and let me know if I am doing something wrong.

JEANIE: Yes, we sing from day 1, except for K's who spend the morning looking for the Gingerbread Man and exploring the school in the process. I'll see everyone else the first day tho. I'd rather do it that way tho. The day goes by soooo fast when you shuffle kids in and out of class every 30 minutes. Enjoy the next 2 weeks. :D

COUNTRY: Never had one of those mushrooms. I, too, wiould love to try one. I put mushrooms into a lot of things whether called for or not (the sakad didn't), love to stuff them too. The salad is really good. I think though the secret is the Splenda sprinkled on top before the dressing. As you dish it up, everythig blends and you get this sweet taste from time to time, Not sicky sweet though!
MELF: Glad to see you on Board again! Hey, you're welcome, just being a friend. Looks like I'll have to do some ,ap reading again! WTG on new low!
HEART: My heart goes out to you. When we are stressed out foor has an insidious way of sneaking in. Pray that DH finds a new and better job. Also that Boogie will be okay. I snack on proteins, cheese, cottage cheese, left over meats, a few sourdough pretzels or WW breadsticks. Fruit, love fruit. Deb intoduced me to peanut butter and an apple. YUM. I used to drink a lot of juice but now eat the fruit. Glass of milk.
SERENE: So proud of you, you are handling yourself very well.......and you stayed OP which is wonderful. You seem to be a strong woman and you will survive. There are bound to be rough spots, memories and grief but this too will pass. You have yourself and kids to think about, your priority!
JRED: Sounds like your DH would be like my DH, home a week, away a week. Of course, your schedule wouldn't be the same. It was like a honeymoon when he came home, and before we could get mad about anything he was leaving!

I am writing this Saturday night as the others watch an old Elvis movie on the TV to try and catch up with the posts that I was able to pull off the computer before it went down for maintenance.
I think the last I wrote was right before going with my sister for the day. I won't tell you where we went, just guess:s: We had the 3 littlest kids along with us (3mo. 2yrs & almost 4yrs old) and they were excellent. My sister was thrilled and delighted to get out for the day AND to have the kids behave as they did. She was here tonight as well, she was dying to play a game of Scrabble with us, so she came over with the baby, who I've lovingly nicknamed Barfing Bailey, or BB for short. She was so good, and stayed up really late, so I hope that she sleeps through the night and allows my sister to get a good nights rest. I seem to have a way with this baby that no one else has:D I have to wear full body armor when I burp her, you just can't imagine!:rolleyes:
Today was garage sale day. My sister was looking for a high chair for a friend of hers and I got a beautiful Graco that was in excellent condition for $2! The woman was thrilled and delighted. I found a few other items, but nothing exciting at all. I got a brand new, in the box Polaroid Spectra instant camera for $3.00, a 52 piece (tops and bottoms, so 26 pieces) microwave containers for $1.00, a Calphelon pot (I know I'm not spelling that right) for $1.00, a Oskar food processor that has a juicer attachment, still in the box, lightly used for $2.00 and a few other cheap items, but nothing exciting or anything just for me.
I want to take a moment and thank everyone for all their kind words in regards to my lonnngggg e-mail. Many of you replied to my e-mail, despite me telling you there was no need (geez, you guys just don't know how to listen!!!!;) ) I hope you don't mind me thanking you all as one for all the words of kindness, friendship and wisdom. Each and every e-mail meant the world to me, it showed me just how much you all care! THANK YOU, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!:love:
Things are going wonderful and I couldn't feel any better. A full week back OP 100%, getting in my exercise and knowing I'm back on track makes me feel great:spin: I won't step on the scale til WIW as I know I'm still up, I can not only feel it, but that fanny pack of mine is still tight like a noose. It's mid-cycle for me so I'm taking it that's part of the problem.
One thing I had thought about was this...if any one of us who has had a weight problem thinks that once we loose the weight that we can go eat anything we want, we have another thought coming. Yes, we can have a special treat once in a while on a special occasion, that won't kill us, as long as it doesn't lead us further away from staying OP and we get right back on track after we have this one treat. BUT, I have to realize that for me, there's some things that I just know I can't handle, no matter what. I know there's alternatives for me that, should I eat more than I should, at least it's OP. I thought that after being at goal and below it for over 1 year that maybe, just maybe I could handle having a treat that wasn't OP-I couldn't. I should of realized this before I even tried as when I would eat something OP I was not able to control the amount of what I was eating. The only way that I am able to have a treat is if I have my portion and the rest is eaten by others. There's no way for me to eat a portion and put away the rest for later as with me, 2 minutes is later. If I make something the only way for me to keep it in the house is if I have someone hide it from me. It's funny though, TRANQUIL & SERENE can testify about my huge stash of chocolate, some of it 2 years old, and it doesn't bother me (unless I'm on a binge), but if I dare open one of those bars, I'll eat the entire bar. I just don't have the control over myself, I'm like a Jekyll and Hide. Anyhow, I guess my point is that once again, we have to know that this is a WOE and a WOL that we have to follow the rest of our lives and if we think we can go back to our old eating habits and keep our weight down we are only fooling ourselves and will once again find us looking for yet another weight loss plan to go on to lose the weight all over again.

Got in my walk today-happy to have a better time today than of late. Got in my 4.5 miles in 49:57. I got out a bit earlier than I have been lately, which, even though it was still really hot not as hot as it would of been if I waited another hour.
Eli is off today, though he did get called in to work since someone didn't show up. Going to go get ready and spend the day with him-maybe a movie today, possibly.
Time to try and catch up with some of the posts before I have to make a hastey exit...
JACK, did I see you say you need someone to slap you? Hmmm, could be a bit kinky, but heck, I can be Mistress Detox! LOL! Really, I hope you got some better sleep after your sleepless night, I think we can all relate to having one of those nights. I took your challenge and have been OP 100% all week, even before. GATOR, I had to think, did they really have computers back in 1960? Or is this a typo? As you can read above, I totally agree with you about being viligant with this WOE, we have to, we have no other choice if we want to lose the weight and keep it off. I think it's great that you are once again going to jounal. I find when I don't that I tend to eat more than I should. I don't mind journaling one bit, I can easily write the nutrional values for most foods for memory-good luck!
MELF, CONGRATULATIONS on your new all time low!! You are doing so well with keeping the weight off!!! I think everyone in LA must be Jewish because we celebrate everything with food as well!;) Please be careful with all the mosquitos flying around. All this talk about the West Nile Virus is scarey. Spray some of that Avon Skin So Soft around your house, it works wonders!!!
HEART, sorry to hear about all the stress you're having to deal with and how it's affecting you. I'm sure DH will find a suitable job soon, and I hope BOOGIE will get over this bout of the runs. Take it easy on yourself and try, as hard as it may be, to medicate yourself with food, it only gives you another problem compounded upon the ones you're already having to face. You know, if you ever want to talk, just let me know and e-mail me your telephone number.
SERENE, I do think you like pain! You loved the DD and TRANQUIL with a whip-what a sadist you are;) Pictures, what pictures? I don't have a clue what you are talking about!!!! Hope all those tests show nothing wrong, do keep us informed. Was good talking to you the other day, as it always is.

JRED, CONGRATS on getting through a year of being on SB, 34lbs may not seem like a lot, but in reality, it is. Try picking up a 34lb kid, I probably couldn't. Anything that benefits you in a positive way is worth while. Computer is not fixed yet, so we can b*tch and moan together about our troubles.
MARCIE, how'd the lasagna come out. I've made WW Lasagna before and I found it to be delicious and that's coming from someone who really doesn't care too much for pasta, not to mention that can't cook either! I can see from your menu you do like apple juice and bacon! I'd rather see you eat an apple, fills you up better and you get the fiber from it. You have a nice varied menu, which is good, but it's hard to really comment about it without amounts eaten. The one thing you want to make sure is that you are eating enough, very important. Also, it looks like you could use some more fiber and calcium, I don't see much of either one. Continue to ask questions, this is a on-going learning experience. As for those 2lbs you see yourself up on the scale, as long as you are doing everything correctly, don't worry, our bodies have a cruel way of fluctuating on us - be patient, it will go back down.
BOB, hope the car gets fixed without having to dish out any more money. I need you to update me on what happened with HOH on BB and anything else important. They put the stupid Dolphins game on instead so we didn't get to see it down here-what a bummer!

Good Sunday morning to all.. Glad to see the boards are up and running now. All is quiet right now in my house as my DH is going to sleep from his night of work. Guess I've got lots of quiet things planned today. Like dusting. Writing a letter to my son in the service. He's still in school in SC trainning to be a Drill Sargent. Also reading on a Slyvia Browne book. So I'll fill my day with things like that. Already cooked breakfast and walked 15 min. on the treadmill. A big deal for me with heart trouble I must work myself up. But I'm so glad to be back trying it anyway. I sticking OP.
Melf- Good to see you posting. Hope none of those mosquitoes get you. Theres allot of stuff here going on about the West Nile Virus and they say in LA its really bad. Yum your shrimp sounds great...Congrads on your 133. Oh to dream of that weight!!
heartmom- Everything seems to get rough when the money is low and its hard to get up.. Sorry Boogie is having trouble. You sure have allot on your plate to handle and I admire you for hanging in there. Just take it a day at a time. I like to freeze grapes and its like eating little popsickles and you can make them last in your mouth. I try to keep string cheese and triscuits around also. Another neat thing is thin sliced turkey or ham spread with cream cheese and cut into pin wheels. (bite size pieces) they're yummy to grab a few from the fridge. Seems the protein things satifies me the best...Don't get discouraged, climb on back up here....
Serene- You're a real inspiration there gal how you're staying focused and OP with all thats going on in your life. It is ashame when we have kids we have to deal with the ex. It took me and my ex several years before we could finally put the bitterness behind us and be nice to each other. But for the kids we were finally able to do that. I always thought of him (ex) as a nat around my face just bugging me all the time.. LOL..... Anyway hang in there girlfriend you've got lots of people here that really care for you...

jred-You're doing just wonderful on your weight. I look at your numbers and get excited. I am dreaming about being in the 60 numbers. 34 is allot of weight and allot of hard work. Don't think sad thoughts, be so proud of what you've done and how far you've come. You could be 196 and the 34!!! So hurray for you.... We have the same goal and you keep me spured on!!!
marciew- I love when someone posts there menu. These girls are better than me at this stuff but it looks like you're not eating enough. I've made lasagna with the wheat noodles and I can't believe how much we liked it. I have to doctor up that Hunts sauce a bit. I had a few more spices and some agave to it. Hope it turned out good. This is really a great program to be on and it gets easier as you go along...
Bob- I was shocked to my socks that Lisa didn't vote for Eric to come back... Huh?? I would be fuming to about the belt!!!!

Debilli- The way you care for your sister is so special, shes awfully lucky to have you. I need to have you shop for my booth in town. Its like a little flea market booth and I could sure use some of your bargains in it. You've hit a point thats so scarey with me about getting to goal. It has to be just that a goal but that doesn't end SB. This really is a way of life. I've lost weight before and got to my goal weight and kept it off for up to two years or more and then gained it back and this time I put on more. I don't want this to happen again and am trying to know that this is forever. And its a choice I'm willing to make. Remembering always that nothing tastes as good as slim feels.... Yep Deb I'm back on the TM and excited about it... The dream book is really interesting but think I'm biased on her books because I do love them.

The Board wasn't down long at all! They did a good, quick job of it! Nothing new to talk about. I didn't sleep very well, got up at 6 and went to the bathroom and went back to bed and conked out solidly til 10! Unheard of for me! I spent yesterday washing all my pink depression glass, it is a day's job. I have more in the attic, just don't have room to display it all.
DEB: If we ever meet we will have to have a game of Scrabble, my favorite game! My next is Trivial Pursuit. My DH and I used to hit all the garage sales, flea markets,auctions etc. Since he passed away, I've only gone a couple of times at the behest of others and I just did not enjoy it. Have not gone in several years. I know there are great bargains.
GATOR: Did you catch the sarcasm of our fearless leader? Waaay back in the 60s indeed!
TONI: Like your day plan! We all need days like that. I think my project today will be to make some earrings and repair a couple I have that I really like but came apart. Understand I've had the broken pieces for years and just haven't got around to it! Talk about procrastinating!
Have to call my sister. Just got an email from her that says they have had a change of dates in their vacation plans. The change occurs over my visit and I want to find out how that will be affected. I may have to change other plans to coordinate things.

Howdy All! It is a bright and steamy Sunday morning here in North Florida.... I just finished eating a whole wheat Pita Pizza with Turkey Smoked Sausage slice on it....it was delicious....I took the idea from Deb when she mentioned making legal pizzas! Thank you for the idea Deb!!! I am still 100% OP and really have drive to stick to it....
Sef - I am going to stay off the foot - staying away from the malls - and it is difficult because I want to move.... Appointment with foot dr. on the 27th unless I can get in to their other office which is a good 45 minute drive from here sooner. Loved your funnies - you always post such good stuff! :D
Toni - That is great that you have and can use the treadmill - every 15 minutes makes a difference :) You are doing a great job!!! :)
Deb - I am so glad you are in better spirits and back on track - I hope you have a wonderful Sunday afternoon with Eli!!!! He deserves a nice break with his loved one, with all his long hours he is putting in for his new store. And you deserve the time with him since he has been so busy..... I am right there with you on the midcycle - the end of the month is coming up which is my time and this morning I was up 1 pound....but I know in my heart that it is water swell from mid cycle and that I am 100% strong OP so I will probably eat 1 starchy carb meal each day until TOM is arrived and more veggies and protein stuff..... I just want to thank you for stressing to me what everyone else has stressed to me that I have ignored!! hahaha - I have cut out so much of the diet sodas, added unsweet herbal teas, water, seltzer, etc. - and have felt even better for it! I could drink up to a 12 pk of diet soda a day! Now the most I allow is 2 a day - of course - I slip here and there and have 3 but that has been rare....
Gator - OMG!!!!! I love Changing Rooms, Ground Force, you name it - I have been watching it for a couple of years now, I have started really liking House Invaders as well on BBC.... Remind me, when do you leave for your next European adventure?
BOB - That is so awful about the car!!!! Maddening for sure!!!!!! I feel for you, but am happy to hear the kids were with me and not with you when you had the car trouble - but on top of that - a relief it was close to home!!!!! This heat and humidity will kill a person for walking a few steps - would hate to hear you had been stuck further away!!!! Hope tomorrow they clear this problem up and do a better job on your car!!!! BB3 - I think that she feels that she cannot trust anyone, because of Roddy and KiKi - too much of a threat and backstabbing... Meanwhile, I dreamt Lisa was the waitress last night at a restaurant I went to, and she would not tell me who won! :dizzy:

Good news is that I have lost down to 246 and maintaining with the 1 lb swell I had today that I know will be gone tomorrow....and will bounce around the next two weeks - but I consider that since I have maintained the 246 for several days now - that is my current weight! Yahooooooooooo

Hey there everyone!
Well I do believe that this is the first time that I can remember that I haven't blown a WOE on the weekend. I am so proud of myself and didn't have to sacrifice anything really. Here's the only problem I ran into: I don't know if this is legal or not, we went to Crackel Barrell for breakfast b/c DH parents were here and I got Whole Wheat French Toast with sugar free syrup. The problem is it was Whole Wheat Sour Dough Bread. It was so good so I am afraid it might not have been legal. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated!
Deb, thanks for looking over my menu. Its good to know that I can have an apple instead of the juice. I love my apples. For some reason I thought I had to have juice first thing in the morning. The Lasagna was fabulous! DH loved it too!
Bob-So sorry to hear about your car. Hope it won't cost too much to get it fixed. I too am a huge Big Brother 3 fan and am shocked Roddy didn't go and that Lisa voted for Amy. Man Amy getting HOH has put a huge wringle in Kiki's plans....(GOOD!!!)
Toni-Way to go on the 15 min. on the treadmill...15min is better than none!! Thanks for looking at my menu as well. I was afraid I wasn't eating enough. Amazingly I am not hungry and at work I am so slammed i hardly have time to pee. LOL. I will try and get some more veggies and fruits in as snacks!

Hello Everybody!!!
Hope you all are enjoying a WONDERFUL weekend day. Thankfully, it's a RAINY DAY!!!! Yippee and yeehaw!!! We've needed one of these for so long. I am loving it!!! There's even a low rumble of thunder in the background which really adds to the beauty of it. We have NOTHING planned for the day. We had been really busy. I think I told you that one of Paul's brothers was in town from St. Louis with his sons and his girlfriend. So we've been spending the free time out at Paul's mom's with them. What fun! We really like his girlfriend. We hadn't met her before, so it was so nice getting to know her and watch them together. So sweet to see them being so crazy about each other. He's been hurt in the past, so I was happy to see him adored by someone.
I haven't had time to catch up on the posts. But I did want to just check in and wish everybody well. My eating is going pretty well. Nothing illegal. Although I was tempted yesterday. It was a tutor traininig day and I had bought some of this one kind of danish pastry thing that I always used to love. Well, I looked at them and thought about how good they would taste. But then I just turned around and walked away. I think it worked for me to really stand there and look at them and sort of walk myself through the mental act of memory of them. Then I was finished and didn't think about them again. Also, a couple of times this weekend I heard myself say, "that whatever is really tempting me." And as soon as I voiced my thoughts, the urge to eat it went away. It's like all I had to do was voice it and it's power over me left. We had a baby shower for Paul's sister on Friday and they had a tiny cake. Luckily his mom had some fruit and I had that instead of cake and ice cream. As long as I can have some kind of fruit, I'm okay. Now that I think about it, there was also the ice cream temptation at King's Island on Thursday. It was super hot out and those cones looked so great, but I just didn't cave. Thank goodness. What a relief when it works out okay!!! We actually found some legal stuff to eat there. I had a bacon cheeseburger and gave the grilled bun to my niece. Then had a small salad. That helped a lot because I was really full from all that.
Well, take care everyone!!! Did all the CHALLENGE TAKERS make it to Friday OP? I see that TRANQ is still going strong. Good for you!!! Way to go!!! I hope everyone is doing well.

Glad to see the board is up. It has been busy too. I get reading and forget to take mynotes and post. So forgive me if I miss anyone.
Went to Waffle House for BF today. Eggs and ham. But boy did I want a waffle. Just a bite. But didn't. Went to bridal show with DD today. We have been on the internet looking for cake ideas. Went through all my old Fitness magazines and cut out exercises. Need to kick it up a bit.Toni, That's ok that you missed the challenge. we can do it again.
Sef, how exciting to know someone on one of the reality shows. We'll have to pull for him.
Gator, I think journaling is a good idea. I just need to find the time to do it. I know it would help.
Country, I have never been able to wear the same clothes from year to year. It will be nice to be able to. I hope. Don't get bit.
Melf, Congrats on your new low. Be careful with those mosquitoes (sp) down there. I here there was another death.
Heartmon, I try to grab for fruit first, before I go for cheese or peanuts. veggies and dip. PB&J. Soory to hear Boogie is doing well on the antibiotics. Things that help always have soemthing that is not good. Hope DH finds a job soon. Hang in there. Don't let food add to your problems. Try to occupy yourself so you don't turn to food. Good Luck. Quilter, We keep getting sprinkles of that rain, but that's all. Today we were 1 mile away from home and it was poruing, but not at my house. My poor yard. WTG on passing those danish. Willpower is empowering isn't it. I think quite a few people made it throug the challenge.

Got home a little bit ago from a nice day out with ELI. We really didn't do all that much, the usuanl (must I even say?) I did find a fabulous farmers market that I had never seen before. Eli wanted to hit a ME store we haven't gone to in a while, so as I was driving down the street I saw this place and made a fast U-Turn back there-what a find! They had such wonderful fruits and veggies at wonderful prices. We bought a 10lb bag of onions for $1.99, nectarines, peaches, plums and pears were .75 a pound, canteloupe, $1, just lots of delicious bargains. Needless to say, I was thrilled! THEN, I went to Big Lots and just thought I'd take a gander at their socks. Not sure if I mentioned this before, believe I did a while back, but they have these wonderful CoolMax low cut socks for $1.99 a pair. After hitting about 15 different stores and only being able to find my size having one black and one white pair I gave up thinking 2 white pairs didn't exist -NOT! I found 7 pks and bought them all - guys, you have no idea, but little things like this make me so darned happy:spin:
Afterwards we stopped at my sisters house to drop off some flash cards for my niece and some olives I p/u for my BIL and then just got home. Taking a break before I go clean the kitchen-too much stuff and no place to put it:eek:
TONI, good going on the TM, anything is good and when you take into consideration the heart trouble you have, it's actually wonderful you are walking on it! It's funny, my DM says the same thing about the bargins we have down here vs what they have where she is in NC. There's a million to be found down here. I see so much but have to pass it by because I just don't need it and sometimes it may be the money. Hey, if you tell me what you could use I could always keep an eye out for some things, box them up and ship them out-if it's cost effective it may be a good thing to try. My Aunt comes down here in the winter and buys stuff and then sells it at the flea market up in Ashville area. Here's a better idea! Why not come down for 2 Saturdays and hit some garage sales with me!!!!;) I guess we have to give it some damn serious thought about WHY when we are able to get to our goal weight we gain it back after swearing we never would. What happens to us? Is it like I said, we get to the goal weight and then find ourselves not happy with how we look at that weight-I know this is a problem for me. Is it trying to test the waters, so to speak, to see if we can get away with adding foods that we shouldn't back in our daily eating and just don't know how to handle these foods and then go hog wild. I think I posted something to the effect way back about, if you really think you need to eat something off plan, like ice cream, never buy it to keep it in the house, but if you are going to get in to the car and drive to get it, you probably want it pretty darned bad, so get it and then wash your hands of the event. If ice cream is in the house, forget it, if I want it, it's gone, but for me to go out of the house to get some it takes more effort than probably the desire of wanting it. If I do go out to get some, I'll get some and that will be it, it's gone and I go home. I think this is how I'm going to have to handle my unusual once-in-a-blue-moon desires!
SEF, that pink depression glass sounds pretty. I love depression glass and do have a few odds and ends, very few, but love them all. I have a pretty yellow tray-like piece that I love. Girl, you are ON for the Scrabble game. Michael beat the pants off of me last night, unusual as we usually are within single digits of each other. He used all 7 letters from his first turn, got the word SPECKELED! One thing I love about the game, it sure opens up my vocabulary learning!
TRANQUIL, glad you are liking the pizza's. Try throwing the feta mixture on it and backing it - delish! I'm glad cutting down on the sodas is working for you, I knew it would. Before you know it I bet you'll cut out soda's completely, trust me, it's not all that hard to do.
MARCIE, I can't say if your CB meal was legal or not without knowing all the specifics, but I can tell you this, SD bread is totally legal, well, as long as it's not stuffed with a lot of illegal junk. So, don't worry so much about this one meal, it's not going to kill you. As for the juice, it's ALWAYS better to eat the actual fruit. Think about it, if you have a glass of orange juice, how many oranges do you think it would take to make that glass of juice? You can probably can drink a glass in seconds, but try eating the oranges that you used to make that glass of oj, it's going to take a while and you also have the benefit of getting the fiber that's in those oranges:)
QUILTER, good for you for avioiding the temptations at the tutoring session among others-you go girl! You are going strong and I love hearing about your triumphs!
JACKK, what type of cake are you looking for. There's a place that when we owned the pizzeria that made the most gorgeous cakes, they were like works of art, masterpieces of sugar! Quite a few people make cakes like these down here, very popular with Latins. Did try to call you twice, always get the answering machine-you sure are always on the go it seems. I'm sure I'll catch you one day soon.
Seems I've caught up once again!:D Going to get ready to go to bed, tired, so probably hit the hay early and hope to get up a bit early and hit the pavement before it's hotter than all heck.

Debbie--Yes, they had computers, but they were not desk top models. No lap tops then. Only huge buildings, carefully airconditioned so the machine wouldn’t malfunction because of any heat. And a machine that had only about 100 K of memory took up a whole room.
We also had electricity in 1960, and I even owned an automobile.
BTW, I got the same message when I clicked on your link in the e-mail. So I just went to the 3FC website and clicked my way through to the board. It is accessable that way.
Tranquil--Je voyage en France dans Mai prochaine. I go to France next May. Actually, I think I should use the future tense here, but I haven’t learned that yet! We are going to NC in Sept. to camp--in a tent-- for a week.

Toni and Jack-K: Thanks for the kind thoughts about my weight loss. I do keep reminding myself that I've dropped 4 dress sizes. Maybe with school starting again and my activities increasing, this stall will give up.
Deb: Thanks for the congrats. This truly is a WOL as you posted. I am fortunately one who can have a tiny bite of something and be satisified, but I have to remain strong remembering the fact that those foods are my downfall and if I start nibbling, I won't stop.

Where did the day go? I made phone calls, played on the computer, finished a book, went to the pharmacy and read the paper. Never did get to the jewelry. I guess not a very productive day.
TONI: I used to have around 1500 pieces of pink depression. I once went to a glass show in Newburgh, NY and had more pink than all the vendors. My GM got me started when she gave me a couple of pieces of Cherry and some pink crystal stemmed glasses (they ring so nice!) I still have them. Then on our honeymoon we stopped at a place to eat and there was a small display of antiques and I saw a cream and sugar in Block Optic and said "Oh, look! It's pink like GMs!" I never stopped after that! Just picked up here and there. When I moved from PA I sold a lot at an auction gallery along with other things (94 antique closcks). I had two gallery sales, three garage sales and gave boxes and bags of stuff away. I just kept the things that were sentimwental, valuable or rare. I have what they call Dolphin tall candlesticks, a vase with apllied Dolphins and a short candleholder. Would give an eyetooth for the compote! Oh dear, I do get charged up! Sorry!
YOUNG PEOPLE! Listen to this wise old head! Clear out things every few years! Don't wait 36 years to do it! It was a tremendous job that about killed me. Don't wait!

DEB: Sometimes at auctions you have to buy a box lot to get one item in ti you might want. I used to resell other colors or give it away. My dil likes green and I used to buy cobalt for a GF. I love to use all sven tiles!
