Ladies and Gents! Bookmark this thread!

Here in Montreal, January and February are dreary and tiresome. It's DARK and COLD. It's hard to get up in the morning, let alone eat well and exercise!

WELL that just WON'T DO.

Folks, summer may be months away, but that leaves us plenty of time to get our butts into gear so that we feel HOT in our suits this summer!

Anyone with me?

So what are your goals for this summer?

I must confess that I've never worn a bikini before. Not even when I was a little girl, and so that is my goal! I'll be in one as of July 1st!!

I was thinking of a wild blue one...

I'm with you! I want to be in the 140's by summer. Here's to hot bathing suits!!!

Hey,
I am totally with you. It's cold and dark where I am too and covered in snow so my exercising is not what it could be but I really want to be thin and sexy come summer. I totally agree - I will be in a bikini on 1st July - that is my pledge to myself!
We can so do this!

I'm in!!!

This summer (the end of July) will be my 1 year anniversary of starting, and I really plan on being at goal by then. I know it seems like alot... it is. But even if I get CLOSE, i'll be happy :)

I don't really have a number goal, but I know I could be at least close to goal by then...and I'd LOVE to be able to wear a cute swimsuit (dare I say bikini? I've never even IMAGINED wearing one...lol) and feel confident in it.

For me right now, I guess that means that I'm going to need to start exercising...because if I lose the rest of this weight without toning at all, I'll be all loose and flabby, and I'll never feel comfortable in a slightly revealing swimsuit. SO...my goals are to up my exercise and up my water intake so that I can look as good as possible this coming summer! =D

im with you!!! my goal for the summer is to be less than 200, wear a cut bathing suit preferably a bikini or tankini, and to be able to go on rollercoasters since i haven't been on one like in 10 yrs cuz of my weight!!!

Wild Vulpix
01-10-2010, 03:37 PM
Sadly I doubt I'll get a bikini body by--or even during--summer :( HOWEVER, I would like to get my body in acceptable enough condition to go out in a bathing suit without fear! If I could lose 25lbs between now and June... I'd be sooo happy! Five months to lose 25lbs... think I can do it?

I'm definitely in! I hope to be in the 130s by then.

There is a new Victoria's Secret opening in West Edmonton Mall and I hope to look smokin' in those tiny bikinis =)

Well this is a wonderful thread!!!

If anyone hasn't heard about that wonderful snow storm that hit just about everywhere I live in Dreary ohio and we gots lots of snow. yeah.
but I would like to be down 25 lbs by then so here's to hoping!!

DivineFidelity, I'm with you on the exercising.. I haven't worked out since before Thanksgiving so I'm ready to get going again!!

Wild Vulpix, I think you most definitely can!

And ohhhh bikinis. I haven't been swimming (in an outdoor pool) in SO LONG :(. I get way way way too self conscious. I'd like to go SWIMMING in the SUN - and if I can do it in a 2 piece, well then that would make it even better! :)

I'm in! I have NEVER felt comfortable in a swim suit. I would love to not feel ashamed of how I look...mainly my legs. My thighs are horrible. So...here's to getting in bathing suit shape by the 1st of July!!!

I'm in!! I'm shooting for goal by summer. Yeah, I lose very slowly... definitely a journey and not a race for me :) I'd love to feel comfortable in a two-piece, which I have never been able to do.

Lin: I looooove Victoria's Secret bathing suit line!! I'd love to be sporting one on the beach this year.

Mickey and Cutie: I am also in NE Ohio... UGH!! Moving here has given me a new appreciation for the phrases "lake effect" and "wind chill", lol

I have summer on my mind, too. Last summer was horrible for me as I was at my highest weight ever and felt gross. I was ashamed to take my daughter to the pool and it sucked. I want this summer to be totally different. I'll never rock a bikini again because of stretch marks but if I could be confident in a cute tankini w/ some teensy little Roxy boardshorts and flip flops... omg. It would be divine. :P

I'm totally in!!! Especially after this last week when we barely topped 0 degrees for a high.... and my hometown was the coldest place in the WHOLE COUNTRY!!!! In a perfect world, I'd like to be 145--which would be a normal BMI and mean losing 1.72 pounds a week. So that would be amazing!! But I will play it safe and say 155, which means a BMI of 26.6 and 1.32 pounds a week! Summer here we come! Be ready :)

I've never worn a bikini in my entire life......so wearing one this summer seems insane to me, but I might as well try. I'd at least like to look nice in a tank-ini, which I've never worn either!

I'd like to be at goal by July 1st, so a 22lb loss, and just focus more on toning. When I get down to 150 I think I'll be able to reassess my final goal, but any pounds after that would be just to tone up so I can look nice in a swimsuit for once.

I too have a goal similar. My husband and I are looking at Jamaica in May and he is not only talking two piece but topless!!! I haven't been in a bathing suit since I was 14. If that isn't motivation I dont know what is. Minimum 50 lbs by May!

I'm all in with you guys!

:o I don't know if I could do the topless thing.. even if I was as skinny as could be! But Jamaica sounds like SO much fun! My boyfriend has an aunt & uncle who used to live there and he got to visit.. he had a lot of fun!

I've got stretch marks from my hips to my boobs and beyond (my shoulders, my thighs, my knees, under my arms)...but I am trying to get to the point where I don't let them bother me. If I get nice and skinny and toned, and I still have stretch marks all over me...WHO CARES?! Not me, not my boyfriend...and not anyone who's opinion counts. If I could put on a bikini and not have it cut into my fat or have my fat roll over it or have it just look funny, I don't care if I've got some stripe action going on...if it fits and doesn't make me look completely huge, I'm totally going to wear it anyways.

BUT, if i'm still not toned...and I'm still all covered in loose skin, then I'll stick to a tankini or a monokini. lol

Count me in too please!

Summer starts in May here, Would love to see a big difference by then :)

I totally agree with DivineFidelity re stretch marks. Sooo many people, fat, thin and completely normal have them. You barely notice them once you start to get some colour anyway.

Good luck everyone!

Okay, I am in as well.

I hope to be at goal in May sometime...so by summer, I hope to still be at goal :)

I have been pretty unmotivated for the past 6 months or so, and havent really lost anything in that time....BUT, I feel ready to take things seriously again. We moved to a new city in September, and now we live 10 blocks from the beach. So I do hope to spend a lot of time there come summer! :carrot:

Oh goodness. I am SO with you all! I'm in Colorado so... yeah. Dark. Cold. Dreary. Snow every few days. I am NOT meant for cold weather living! I'm craving the long, warm summer days already!

I am pretty sure I will be at goal sometime in May. Just when we really start getting some great warm days around here. I will also be running my first half marathon in May so any weight I can drop between now and then only serves me!

I'm in! Already started getting my pre-tan so I am not ghostly white in the spring. It kills me to already see bathing suits out at Target, I always want to be done before then but it may be the inspiration I need.

platformnine
01-11-2010, 11:01 AM
This is exactly what I need! I've never worn a bikini before, I've always championed the tankini, but I'm working my butt off to be rocking a bikini this summer! I already have a few suits I picked up on clearance to pick from. Let's do this ladies!!!!

I'm hoping to be close to goal by the beginning of summer, so around the 140s-130s. I've got stretch marks, but with every pound I lose they are fading and I find that I don't really care about them anymore. I won't let them hold me back from one of my life time goals!

My family is also going to Mexico this summer for our Riviera Maya trip!

I need to use this challenge to focus on toning and doing circuit training to get my body in the best shape possible!

MamaT Whoa!!! I admire your guts for considering it! Getting past the shyness of it, going topless must feel pretty liberating (as long as people aren't hanging 'round with their tongues out :) )

Wow, that was a lot of replies for a day!

For those digging tankinis, I bought a Simon Chang one last year and was really pleased that it had a slightly longer top and a more-covering bottom, so I didn't feel like my tummy was hangin' out. I bought it at Sports Experts.

You know, it's funny but also sorts of people wear bikinis now from way to skinny to women who are very heavy, and many of them look just fine. My principle right now is that I'm going to wear a bikini weather however I look, so I might as well make an effort because they'll be the ones looking at me ;)

Yelie
01-11-2010, 07:45 PM
You guys are right, I do see all sorts of women who have stretch marks and they really dont look bad. I guess mine will probably fade more too and maybe just maybe I'll be able to wear a bikini ;)

What do you ladies plan on doing to get yourself ready for the bikini season?

For Christmas I got a gym membership, so I've been going to spinning classes twice a week with my mom. I've also been snowboarding every two weeks or so, since I live close to some ski resorts.

I want to focus on toning on my off days with weight and resistance training, since I have two or three days a week with high calorie burning workouts.

I also am getting P90X soon and I would like to start using that to slim down and tone my body!

I rocked out a bikini last summer, but this year I want to be smaller and more toned when the beach days hit us- my poor bum is still a jiggly mess! I'm going to work on losing that last 10ish lbs and then work on toning like crazy!

jennsreadytolose
01-12-2010, 11:40 AM
I am currently doing "No More Trouble Zones" and "Burn Fat Boost Metabolism". Now that I see the P90x and Insanity (anyone have results from these?) those have really gotten my attention. I already started these though, so I guess I'll get them next.

platformnine
01-12-2010, 11:45 AM
Jennsready - I've heard that they're both similar, but P90x is better for toning so I'm going to try that first. I believe in the fitness videos forum there's a thread for those working on P90x and Insanity right now.

I am so in!! I have been on a V-day challenge and lost about 5lbs so far--I have 32 lbs to lose to be at goal. I'd like to be there by May bc I have two weddings to attend--one in California, one in Cancun, Mexico, some very beachy locations! Let's do this!!

I'll continue on my 1200-1500 cals a day, and starting in Jan I'll add workouts.

We're gonna be so sexxxy!!! haha

I think I'm in! This is going to be such a challenge for me, but I haven't worn a bikini in years and I'm jealous of all my skinny friends that can!! I'm not going to be the big girl on the beach this year!! We can do this!!

I want to have by June 1st be my goal weight of 145. That means I have 6 months to lose 56 lbs which is 9.3 pounds a month. I know I can do that!!!!

this is actually a really good goal for me. I have this thing with swimming in the ocean. It's my favorite thing to do, I search for sea shells and jump between the tides, it's really fun, so I'm excited to for the first time ever do this in a bikini. It's been so long since I have went swimming to the ocean and I am so honestly tired of being against going to the beach because of the way I look in a bikini. No more.

Okay, so I had a really brutal week. I have been feeling really discouraged lately, and havent had much motivation. BUT, I just had another browse of this thread, and I already feel more motivated.

BatGirlAmy; I cant wait to swim in the ocean! And if I can look good doing it; all the better!

Friday begins my "week", so now is a great re-starting point. Im putting last week behind me, and going full force again! Thanks, ladies, for the encouragement and motivation!

I have never swam in the ocean before!

I really enjoy Lake Ontario - with powdery sand and sand banks, so that you can go deep in and only have water to your knees, whereas people behind you will have it to their waist...

Wow... ocean beach... *fantasizes*

BatgirlAmy

Well here in this part of Florida we have the gulf. It's not ocean persay but it tastes, feels, and waves like an ocean. I also just for once want to be excited about going to the beach with friends. I always make up excuses not to go. It's for that reason that I don't even own a swimsuit. I have a red one piece I use for swimming laps but it's by no means sexy lol.

Hey ladies! I know I'm a little late to the party, but I am also hoping to be in a bikini for the FIRST TIME EVER by the end of this summer (if Boston winter ever ends, that is...). Even just wearing a regular bathing suit without shorts to cover up my wobbly thighs would be a big step. I've only ever done that when I was in a foreign country alone so no one I knew could see the evidence!

My #1 goal is to be at around 160 or less before my friend's wedding in late May -- there may be bathing suits then since we'll all be in a hotel, but there will definitely at least be a cute dress (and photos that will be around forever). I got there once before, a few years back, and I know for sure that I can do it again! (I lost about 30-35 lbs right before law school, then put it all back on plus an extra 10 while I was in school...)

Keep up the great work, chicas!

I would really love to be to my goal weight by June 21st which is my 2 year wedding anniversary. Last year I was knocked up on our 1 year anniversary and we didn't do anything to celebrate because I was so miserable. This year I'm hoping we can go on a trip somewhere and I want to be able to wear all sorts of flirty cute clothing like I used to before we got married.

purple peep that's some great motivation! i want to wear cute, flirty summer things!

i love the commiserating ladies!! we're all in the same boat so what's everyone doing about it??? bring on the support!

I've been pretty good all week, staying within my 1200-1500 cal range, but much closer to 1500 than 1200, and the scale didn't budge for 3 days!!! yesterday i counted every little thing and ended up around 1205 or so, and today I am down a pound! it really really is all about counting cals for me! next week i'm going to add daily workouts m-f with weekends off.

come on bikini bod! :)

I'm in too! Hubby and I have a cruise to Mexico in May and I'd love to be in my first bikini ever by then!

Plus, we live in San Diego so bikini season starts early here. Last summer I spent our days by the pool in my scrunchy tankini with a long-sleeved coverup. Not gonna happen this year!

Besides my diet, I'm planning on incorporating working out at home to firm up! I went on a buying frenzy this week getting ready (bought Chalean Extreme, a Fluidity barre, got JM's 30 Day Shred DVD)... now I need to get off the sofa and actually do some of it!

Shasha-Religiously counting calories really does make a huge difference. Hooray for your one pound!

Chickapea-Mexico? I'm sooo jealous! I've heard so many good things about JM 30DS! I'll have to pick it up soon.

To get to my goal beach body I'm working on my water intake-I haven't been drinking nearly enough water. I'm starting up my mile walks tomorrow. I might pop the baby in his stroller and take him with me. Annndddd.... I'm working on my food choices, like cutting out the white stuff-sugar & rice & white bread, etc.

This is such a great thread! It's so hard to think about summer during a Wisconsin winter but I am looking forward to it!

I feel like every winter I think to myself if I start working out right now I can actually look good by summer... but every year summer comes along and I am still the same weight :(

BUT this year I am determined to make it happen! My goal is to be down to 130 by May 15. So I have exactly 4 months to lose 30 lbs which is only 7.5 lbs each month! To make it happen, I am going to up my workouts from 3 times a week to atleast 5 and be very diligent about my calories! oh yea, and I'm going to start toning!

I know we can all do this! :)

Eeek.

I'm going to Florida in late February with the family, and I fully intend to rock the beach, whether the Floridians think it's cold or not. It's averaging -10 to -20 here (celcius), so anything above 15 degrees is swimsuit weather in my mind right now!

So, I'm gonna put my heart and soul into some weight loss here, and am going to buy what I hope will be a cute and flattering new swimsuit (bikini!?) next month.

Like the loser that I am, tonight I stripped down to lingerie, threw my webcam on record, and just wandered around my room for a few minutes. My version of a 360 degree mirror, so I can see what I really look like from all angles.

...it's not good. But it could be worse. So, a bit of concerted effort, and I might be able to make it to, "It's okay." ;)

platformnine
01-16-2010, 12:15 PM
Jelbb - I should do that, thats a great idea! Usually I just strip down and look in my "fantasy" and "reality" mirrors lol (one's a full length but it makes everyone look good and the other is on my bureau and shows how everyone really looks lol)

I think I have my workout schedule figured out!

Monday: Strength training
Tuesday: Cardio HIIT
Wednesday: Strength training
Thursday: Cardio HIIT
Friday: Strength training
Saturday: Cardio (alternating rest day)
Sunday: Cardio (alternating rest day)

On Tuesdays and Thursdays I take spin classes, and during my off days during the week I’d like to incorporate some weight and resistance training into my workout week, as well as do pilates and yoga for stability and flexibility. I’ve got P90x that I would like to incorporate as well. On the weekends I’m still going to continue alternating my rest day, but still having some form of movement on the rest day (like a walk). During the winter months I’ve been going snowboarding on the weekends, such as the trip I have planned next weekend! I also want to go hiking when it gets a little warmer out, plus it's a trip I can do with friends.

I’m really hoping with this schedule I’ll be able to wake up my stubborn waistline and whittle away at it until I am at least very close to having a flat stomach for the summer! I would also like my thighs to become more toned, but I believe with my spinning classes that they are already well on their way to shaping up!

My next goal is 155lb, which will be 70lbs lost and then I will only have 30lbs to go to goal!

shasha12
01-16-2010, 01:17 PM

I am kind of stalled out right now :( but I know it'll get better. I'm getting over my illness thingey so now I'm back to strength training many times/day to build my strength back and I'll be back starting cardio in a week or two:crossed: If I'm up to it.

I'm in Oregon so our beach isn't really a bikini environment. Most people wear full clothes, anyone in a bathing suit is usually shivering. But if I'm in bikini shape.... I'll FIND a reason to wear one!!

HAHA! I grew up in Oregon and I remember as a kid, I DESPERATELY wanted the Oregon coast to be like a tropical oasis....so I was the crazy little kid running around in a swimsuit while it was raining...haha

ANYWAY, I'm so down for this. I can already see some definition going on in my abs, it's just my dang LOVE HANDLES. UGH. They are monsters, I swear. Sent straight from the devil himself.

But I signed up for a 10-miler in April, so I will be running my little tush off now, so hopefully that will make 'em shrink!

Went for a run on the beach today - thought of you guys, haha. It was nice though - nice day, not too cold, NOT RAINING!

The Oregon Coast sounds a lot like Vancouver - except we do have nice summers usually.
