Thanks for your advice and understanding....I'm not in a hurry to go to the doc (do not see the Fibro doc anynmore cause he does nothing but say we are the same age and he has aches and pains too!) ......... I have had pain before "during" and it has always gone away, last weekend it lasted for two days (constant) no relief and that is when I told him he could not touch me anymore....I had to take my codine (none for 2 years now) and that didn't even help, almost went to the emergency room but it finally let up. I am also having lowback, hip and leg pain all on the same side, which is why I think it is the Fibro, hurts to sit too. I know it will go away on its own.......The drs office used to give me antibiotics untill the pain was gone (when I have had it before thinking it was bladder) and it would go away. (But they will not give antibiotics anymore, just want to send you to a specialist!!!!!!!!!!!) I do not want to go to another dr. If it were not for Dh and his needs....I would not have a problem coping with the pain. He is very demanding when it comes to"SEX" and that makes me uncomortable but he was much nicer about it this weekend and yes Meme...we do not believe in Divorce that is why I was shocked! I think he might be going through male menopause!!!!! (still says no sex no marraige though  ) He gets it in his mind that he needs it at least twice a week whether he can do it or not and I just have to put up with it. Men.....;)

Joanne, Serenity and Meme, I do not get it int he knees but in the hips and I have trouble getting up too and sometimes stumbling around, I bet if we all went out together they would call us a bunch of drunks:p

Meme.....I used to have terrible foot pain and did go to the foot doc and used to get shots in the balls of my feet all the time, I got orthtics too and that helped but you can't wear dress shoes with them, that is why I have trouble finding shoes, I have to have good support and regular shoes do not have enough. My whole body feels better when I wear my New Balance walking shoes..........That is why I hate to go anywhere..just too much pain to deal with and look good too! I have to be comfy, that is important:smug: I just quit going to all my docs....and am treating my Fibro myself........just staying home! If They would get one in this area that new something I would go for help again! I have been treated very badly by docs in the past and do not want to go through that again...unless absoulutley necesssay!

Mima..you Brad sounds like such a sweetie!

Yappy that was no typo:lol: Thanks for the new thread:dance:

I think I ate too much today....no cake but ate way too much sherbert and then something salty and then something sweet again..........alll my banked points are gone now and Im' not sure I want to add up what I ate! One bad day in 2 years..not too bad, but..don't want it to lead to anything steady! maybe I'm trying to eat the pain away!

Oh DARN. I think I missed a thread about sex!!!!
I will have to read back there tomorrow when I should be working.
OK guys, I may be the baby of the group and my exboyfriend and I are really still trying to make a go of this. But when we first started seeing each other we were both 37. Now we are both 46. Friday nite he fell asleep when he was sitting on the couch at his house waiting to call me as he got home at 5pm. He called me at 10pm all ticked off that he had just drifted off. I said....this is what happens when old farts try to date. So last nite, he comes over and it was hot, hot, hot. All I had to do was rub his back and he was out for the count. Left him on the couch in front of a fan and I went to my nice quiet bed.
Sexless dating.
I can handle it. :D

Candice...I can't imagine having to have sex twice a week the way I feel. I tense up my whole body and have severe leg cramps afterward a lot of the time... We only have sex about every 3 or 4 weeks...if he's lucky! :p Besides...I tell him the Viagra is too expensive...$10 a pill!

I'm going through a really rough spell right now. I guess with Mama's illness in May, then her second stroke in July and her death...all the 'stuff' I have had to do since and then the week at the lake I have put too much of a strain on it. The week at the lake was relaxing but I had to pack all our clothes and food and then unpack and there was a lot of work involved in cooking, ect. and the fishing was extremely hard on me. It was all fun but exhausting. Now I have to try to finish packing up my mother's things...decide what to keep and what to sell...then price everything along with all my 'junk' and then...have a HUGE yard sale. Plus, I'm starting back teaching tomorrow. And...I have 2 more trips planned in the next 2 months. Sometimes I wish I could just go to bed and stay there for a couple of weeks! Without having to get the flu or something ELSE to do it!!!

This foot and ankle pain is about to get me down.

Candice.Sex two times a week sounds about average to me. Yes men can be demanding about sex. The words "don't even think about it or leave me be. Or, not now ,Or, you were just here." slide right through their heads. They have a one tract minds when it comes to that. And my hubby is 77. Find a female Dr. Sometimes they are more understanding. You need to resolve this problem.
Ally ..sounds like you have a relaxing arrangement with the man in your life.
Meme.. As always you are the busiest of most women. I hope things get better for you.
Hello Happy... Is it getting cool there yet?

Hi Gals

Looks like everyone is enjoying the weather. We are having humid, cloudy, rainy weather now but the drought continues in the west.

Well sex - the 3 letter word. When my fibro was at it's worst, it felt like I had a baby in there that was going to drop out at any moment. The pain was continuous for days on end sometimes. Yes, it also affected the hips and thighs at that time too. I had been to specialist and they could find nothing. It wasn't until I read about the gals with fibro that had the same thing, that I realized what was going on.

Since my fibro has been sort of in remission, I have only had a few short pains. Usually when I have been on my feet, or walking too much.

Not doing too good with WW - hard to stick to the points this week. I have been getting more excersize, lots of weeding, walking and going to try skipping rope (lol) this week.
I am sort of looking for a bike, might try riding around the neighbrouhood. That should loose a few lbs.

Hope you have all had a good weekend.

Oh it's good to be home/ Lot's of stuff to do!!!We are going to the 1000 Islands at the end of the week. More suitcases and hotels but this time it will be fun. We spent a nice relaxing day yesterday and I even won a winter basket at the fair in town. Got to pick it up today. The subject is sex-can't ask me about frequency because I am a new bride but I have a feeling the frequency isn't going to change that much.It never hurts but the tiredness from fibro affects me and stress also. Tomorrow I have to find out about the hormones when I go to the doc. I already have osteoporosis. I hate to give them up!Candice, are you in menopause. That can really affect the way it feels, I had a terrible time back then. Lots of symptoms.I agree that your husband should go with you to the doctors, Candice. I think sex is a great part of marriage and it needs to be worked out and maybe dh would be a little more sensitive if he heard it from the doc. One time I touched Brad's leg and asked him if it hurt and he said no and then he touched mine and the pain is awful. People don't understand the pain we go through and it's always there in ONE PLACE OR ANOTHER. And pain from one place can show up somewhere else. Massage helps me and I go this week. You should see the dog-he keeps opening up a wound so Brad made him a cardboard collar. He's not happy but he is healing. Bye for now. Mima

Candice- I am sure you know this but, as we get older the tissues in the vaginal canal get thinner and a dryness results. That too will cause pain during sex. Sometimes the only thing we need is a lubricate and sometimes a Dr. will give you a scrip for a medication with a light hormone in it. I have had this problem and it does cause pain that will last for a couple to three days sometimes.
Meme- What a nice housebout!! Did you take it out on the water? If I had something like that ,I would want to tke it out on the Gulf and stay for about a week. What a vacation that would be...

Meme - what a great looking houseboat. A home away from home, alright.

Candice - You can't isolate yourself and not go out, pain or no pain. That is just not healthy phychologically! You need to go out and see people and do things. I have found with chronic pain, it is too easy to say no to fun things. Given the opportunity, you would enjoy getting out and doing more. I still say, GO TO THE GYNE. AND GET A CHECK UP. It may be FM, or it may be nothing at all to do with that, but for your own peace of mind and your marriage, by the sounds of it, go and see about it. I would be devastated if my hubby said something like that to me. I find I isolate more than I used to because it takes to much energy to go out, but I feel better when I go. I am having pain anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Hi, Ally, Joanne, Serenity and Anagram. Hope you all had a nice day.

Wow, did I have a lot of catchup reading to do. Will probably inadvertently miss lots in my post because I've sworn off novels.

Ally, what a bummer to put out your time and money and not have a really good vacation.

Re foot pain, it is/was arthritis in foot joints. Have since had surgery on the bunion area (well 11 years ago) and with orthotics not too bad. Like Candice, I mostly wear shoes for comfort. Still saving some little heels though for an occasion or two. But when I balance things out, I prefer comfort and seldom dress "up" anymore. Hope to branch out a little now that knees are better and get to go out a bit more than we had last few years. Don't think dh is rushing to go out dancing but I'm getting the itch to do some slow dancing. Sure wouldn't polka or anything.

I feel fortunate with at least two of my drs. My internist specializes in arthritis so I don't see a rheumatologist. He's conservative which suits me. Just currently having the concern about my eyes and using Placquenil. But he LISTENS to what I say. We don't always do something but he listens and explains and answers.

My orthopedic surgeon is a year or so younger than I and also needs a knee replacement, has for a few years and keeps telling me he's right behind me. I think he's hoping to put it off till he's ready to retire. I don't know how he can stand the long hours required for surgery. He tells me it's as hard as not being able to pee while he's operating. But at least he knows the pain and is empathetic. Also he's funny. Leaves me in stitches and sometimes I leave him that way too. Again, answers, explains, etc. Told me my new knees should last till I'm 91 and if I want them replaced then, call him (he'd be 90) at the nursing home and we'll give it a go. Current gyn is ok, sort of inherited him from the practice as others retired. Keep thinking of finding another but it's only once a year......

Had a nice Sunday at daughter's for second birthday of our littlest one. Son and dil also joined us after the kiddie party and there's nothing I like better than all of us being together for even a short time.

You know the old saw about not trading your problems for anyone else's, I sort of feel that way after reading about all the fibro pain. I'm sure it's similar to the RA pain but there seems to be so much more they can do now with RA. Hurt and fatigue seem so normal to me anymore and I have been doing somewhat better since May or so. Of course I know it could all go mad again any minute and then it would be back to the prednisone, etc. and then more weight.

You sounded a bit like my Mom, Happy. when I ask if she's up to going out for lunch she always says "yes, hurt here or hurt there. What's the difference?" She really needs a hip replacement but won't (even if the drs would because of her other health problems). Says they're not putting a zipper on her. She did have to have surgery for cancer about ten years ago (fortunately no problem there afterward) but has refused heart surgery and was able to escape surgery for a bowel blockage last year.

I did say no novels, didn't I? Sorry - hope all have a good Tuesday.

Yappy..I go out some just not a whole lot like I used too! It's a long story, but I'm content staying home................

Ally..........You lucky thing.....I wish DH would fall asleep!

Joanne.....sounds like your DH is pretty demanding too! Mine has French blood in him, and you know what they say about the French!!!!!!!!!

Anagram....I keep some of my old dress shoes around and think I will wear them but they hurt after a few minutes so I usually change them. I just have to be comfy but I look frumpy!

Mima....Dh will not take off work for the doc, he used too but no more since he is working two jobs. I will see my female doc next week.

Serenity, that is what it feels like, like I am about to give birth to a 10 pound bowling ball! Ouch!!!!!!!! Must be the Fibro....Where are you hearing people talk about this stuff??????? the pain is moe on the left so makes me think it might be colon, like Mima cause antibiotics do help.

Monday..cleaning day and we tackled the cats room and a big shelf so my arms are hurting pretty bad.

I managed to reverse bank for two days so I am good to go with my pts!

My mother had RA and she was in lots of pain-more than fibro I think. Fibro is not debilitating, it's just there and travels . My mother would not get off the couch when she was in pain so I learned a lot from her. Keep moving. Had a fun day with the dog=he kept licking a sore and it got infected-179$ LATER-HE'S ON AMMoxicillin and prednisone and a spray. He wasn't suppossed to have anything til late at night and he ran out-I left the door open-I'm sure he went to the lake to drink-luckily he came back 3 hours later. Now we are not going away til Monday-I need a break from hotels anyways!!!and catch up. Going to the rheumo today-we'll have a discussion about HRT and my osteoporosis. If I go off the hormones, I'm sure I'll have to get some cream but I had to use it before when I was menopausal. Hate to go back to that stage but I'll do what is recommended. At least my foot is better-don't need a shot!!!And I'm meeting some old friends for lunch. Joanne-you are a riot about your husband-Brad thinks that is just about right!!!!For later!!!Haha!!!!Mima

ps-a friend of mine is getting a divorce because her husband won't go near her-for years-there are 2 sides I guess. Went through that with alcoholic ex-it's devastating=course there was not a relationship there either!!!!!Mima

This article appeared in a local health food store paper. I think I am off to buy some Celery Seed Extract. It is about $14.50 Cdn., so it is relatively cheap. I wish that someone else would try it as well, so we could see if the benefits are worth it. Just read through the article and see what it says about pain relief for Arthritis and FM.

Sorry for any typos.

What is 3nB

3nB is a compound that is unique to celery and is responsible for the characteristic flavor and odour of celery. 3nB was discovered as the active component of celery in response to investigations by researchers seeking to explain some of the medicinal effects of cerely including the lowering of blood pressure and the relief of arthritis. 3nB first drew significant scientific attention when researches at the University of Chicago Medical Center identified it as the factor in celery responsible for the blood pressure lowering effect of celery. The research was prompted by one of the researcher's father, who after eating a quarter pound of celery every day for one week observed his blood pressure dropped from 158 over 96 to a normal reading of 118 over 82. Subsequent animal studies found that a very small amount of 3nB lowered blood pressure by 12 to 14% and also lowered cholesterol by about 7%

How does 3nB lower blood pressure?

The blood pressure lowering effect of 3nB appears to be a result of several effects. In treating high blood pressure, doctors usually prescribed diuretics (water pills) to reduce the fluid volume and vasodilators to relax the ateries. 3nB appears to help lower blood pressure by both acting as a diuretic (without altering the ratio of sodium to potassium in the blood) and vasocilator through impacting the production prostaglandins. 3nB has also been shown to lower blood cholesterol levels and reduce the formation arterial plaque in experimental studies (animal and test tube studies) This effect may increase the elasticity of the blood vessels and also lead to lower blood pressure readings. 3nB also appears to promote some effects on areas and systems of the brain that control vascular resistance.

Anothe real advantage of celery exract over conventional drugs used in high blood pressure is that the drugs lower blood flow to the brain. While this effect is helpful in reducing the likelihood of stroke, it often leaves people taking these drugs, feeling tired, depressed, dizzy and forgetful. Celery extract on the other hand has actually been shown to not only help prevent stroke in animal studies, but also improve blood flow as well and act to protect the brain and enhance energy production with the brain in a smiliar manner to Ginkgo Biloba extract. It has produced dramatic recovery in neuological and brain function in animals in studies that simulate a stroke. It has also been show to signifcantly increase lifespan in animal studies.

WHAT OTHER EFFECTS HAVE BEEN NOTED WITH 3nB?

3nb has shown tremendous promise as an anti-cancer phytonutient and detoxifaction aid in an experimental animal model, but it is its use as a PAIN RELIEVER in ARTHRITIS, FIBROMYALGIA AND GOUT, that is getting most of the attention.

A celery extract standardized to contain 85% 3nB and other celery phthalides has been evaluated in the treatment of "rheumatism" - the general term used for arthritic and muscular aches and pain. During the active phase of the 12-week study, the 15 subjects suffering from either osteoarthritis, osteoporosis or gout, received 34mg of a proprietary celery extract standardized to contain 85% phthalides twice daily. The results of the study were extremely positive and quite statistically significant. The chance that such a positive effect in reducing pain in these subjects was a placebo effect was less than 1 in 1000. Subjects experienced significant pain relief after 3 weeks of use with the average reduction in pain scores of 68% and some subjects experiencing complete 100% relief from pain. Most subjects achieved maximum benefit after six weeks of use although some did notice improvements the longer the extract was used. Detailed blood chemistry as well as clinical evaluation in these test subjects did not turn up any side effects.

HOW DOES 3nB WORK TO PRODUCE ALL OF THESE BENEFITS?

Prostaglandins are chemicals that mediate or control many important body processes, including regulating inflammation, pain, and swelling, blood pressure and heart, digestive and kidney function. Some of the effects noted for 3nB on the prostagladin system are quite unique and novel. Rather than simply inhibiting the production of prostaglandins by blocking enzymes that produce them like aspirin or even the more expensive and selective Cox-2 inhibitors, 3nB appears to help restore balance in the prostaglandin system. Exactly how it accomplishes this effect is still a mystery.

Anne, I'll try it with you. I just went to the health food store not 30 minutes ago to get some Relora (you all should read up on that!)...wish I'd known about the celery seed then. But...I wanted some Artichoke Extract, too, and they didn't have any so I'm going to have to order it from iherb. They have the celery seed extract, I just checked, so I'll order some of it, too. If you want to compare their prices with your health food store, go to www.iherb.com ... it will probably take me a few days to get it here but I'll probably have it by the weekend.

It was an a site about fibro. Can't find it again. I found it by surfing - maybe msn or google, or metacrawler. I had been in and out of so many sites at that time.

There were several woman talking about it = it was not a chat, but a message board sort of place.

Will let you know if I find it again.

Mimi - I'll have to do more reading on fibro. I thought it was debilitating. But basically I was thinking in terms of Candice and Serenity's problem. Then today at the pool, I heard two women talking about groin and pelvic pain that was diagnosed as arthritis. That was a new one for me too.

The celery salt sounds interesting. Esp the hbp use. I used to eat lots of celery when I was younger to get rid of water and swelling so that part made sense. Anything I can eat to help relieve pain is a plus on my part. I do green tea for inflammation and salmon, etc. for the omega fats. I'm not a fanatic but I think these things have to be just as safe as drugs. Hope I'm right:o

Went to pool this morning. Came home, had lunch, fell asleep. Not feeling right since although a bit better tonight. Think I had hay fever head or something.

Bro/sis in law going to stop by tomorrow afternoon after driving grandkids halfway home to Conn. from Pittsburgh. Not really too convenient with appts, etc. tomorrow but whatta ya gonna do.

Tomorrow my "official" weigh day. Peeked today and was pleased. Probably won't be tomorrow as it seems to jump up when it's official. But it'll go sooner or later.:dizzy:

Our local suport group leader here says that all that stuff is just a placebo..that we need to eat better and exercise! I think she is part right.............she has interviewed lots of people with Fibro and doctors. Keep us posted on how it works...we need to find what work best for us individually I think.

Mima.....What are the symptoms of the diverticulitis and what antibiotic do you take for it????????

Rested most of the day, cloudy and cool out so it was easy to stay in bed. Then did my 20 min workout and tons of stretches. I used my tennis balls on my hip, low back and shouldder too...seems to help more than anything!

Hey...Fibro can be totally debilitaitng too:( ..some people are in wheelchairs with it and cannot work or do much of anything. I think we are a failry active group here though.

I guess by debilitating I mean that there are no changes in the structure of our muscles-joints. It's just there. I would bet that some of the people in wheelchairs just give up but then again when I first came down with fibro I was terrible for 2 years. I was getting a divorce from my alcoholic husband, had 2 little kids and one big one, was carrying lots of stuff on my shoulder. Talk about stress which aggravates the condition!!!But I didn't give up because I saw what giving in did. I know someone who has it and only takes high potency druds. Of course she doesn't get any better. Some drugs, moderate exercise, swimming, massage, lowering stress are my remedies. AS for diverticulosis, there are pockets in my intestine that could get inflamed and THEN I would take an antibiotic. Can't eat seeds!!!!!Tomato, cucumber, apple skin etc. Big list. It's under control but I've had it for years. It gets diagnosed with a BARIUM ENEMA!!!Yuk!!!!I have 10 chronic diseases -but I deal with them . One day at a time. Rheumo was no help about the HRT. Wants to see more studies but is giving me didronel for osteoporosis which I take 2 weeks every season so that's good. Recommends the walking. Anyone else got the osteo? I think you mentioned it Joanne. Too hot today to talk about sex!!!!!Mima

MemeToo
08-14-2002, 01:55 PM
Hmmm...TOO HOT FOR SEX...that's something I'll have to think about...don't like to think too much...stresses out my brain and that's the only muscle in my body that doesn't hurt right now!

As for hubby curling my toes...sometimes he curls my legs, too! Don't you hate it when you get to sleep and come wide awake with a cramp so bad you can barely make it out of the bed. Then you have to stand on it a few minutes and then walk it out and you're so sleepy you just want to go back to bed! Sex just kills me although I enjoy it! does that make sense? But thank goodness hubby is very understanding about it. We get everything done for the night before we have sex and I take a muscle relaxer a couple of hours before, then afterward I just jump in the shower and then go to bed.

And about people who just give up...well...I can see where arthritis and fibro pain could put you in the bed or in a wheel chair and I thank God every day that I'm not...because I've been on crutches A LOT and in a wheel chair some, too...so I know it can happen. But I think a lot of people give up before they have to. Yes...the pain is bad...I have Rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis with the fibromyalgia. I also have the spastic colon-irratible bowl problems and migraine headaches that go along with it. On top of all that I have tendinitis in my arm and (they say) in my ankle, foot and leg. (I still think that's something different.) I get TMJ, pleuresy and costocondritis from time to time, too. But...if I quit moving I can't move. For example: when I get the flu and just lay in bed for a few days, when I finally get up and start moving around more, my muscles are so tight and sore it's almost as bad as the flu pain. It hurts to move but when you don't move, it hurts MORE. The point is...keep busy. Keep yourself surrounded with things and people you love and things you love to do. I...well...I do TOO much sometimes. Well...ok...MOST of the time. But it keeps me going and that's the important thing. Does anything I'm saying make any sense today??? I'm in a fibro fog and I have to go to town and do some business on Mom's stuff. No telling what I'll wind up doing!!!

Hello All...I went shoping and now I am going to get busy making a few things to wear on my trip in October. I will stick to the split skirts for now. They are easier than pants as long as I am wearing this knee support.

Boy, what an ugly day out there. It is cloudy and really, really windy. Of course, anything that can hurt, is.

Meme - You actually made perfect sense. You are right about outrunning these diseases, and if we give in, we are caught. My aunt has MS, and her Neursurgeon told her that if she wanted to sit in a wheelchair, he would guarantee that she would never walk again!!! That was 30 years ago, and she is better than she ever was. She never did sit in that wheelchair - just walked on legs that were numb - but she did great. My Dr. told me about another woman her treats that has MS. She is a nurse. After she was diagnosed with FM, she went home and went to bed. When she returned to the Drs. office, she was in a wheelchair. He said the worst thing you can do for FM is NOT move. My life gets pretty wild at times as well, but I try to keep it on an even keel and then I know I can manage just fine. If I overdo it, then I pay. I think, after all these years of chronic pain, I have learned just what I can do - COMFORTABLY.

Sex - Hmmm, Ally will be along and wondering what we are talking about - again. Still think it is a wonderful gift that was provided for us:lol: Actually I heard a Dr. talking on weightloss and exercise the other day. They asked him what the best exercise was for weightloss and he said "Sex - three times a week". Go figure. We have our own exercise equipment built right in:lol and here we are riding bikes that don't move, walking on treadmills. The other is so much more pleasurable and you don't even have to leave home:lol

Candice - I don't think that the support leader is right on that. If that were the case, I would never have gotten this to begin with. Surprise, surprise - my immune system runs at top notch!! It does seem to have a problem absorbing Vitamin B6 but otherwise, I am doing fine. I rarely get sick. The last time was 3 yrs ago, and I got a really bad cold. I will keep trying because SOMETHING, somewhere will help with the pain - other than meds that I have such a hard time with. I have a lot less arthritic pain, since I started talking Salmon Oil and Broamlin (extract from Pineapple). That does work. Now I would like something to add to finish it off. Doesn't matter if it is a Placebo effect or not, as long as the pain diminishes. Our brains are very powerful, so if my brain wants to tell my body that it doesn't hurt anymore, I really don't care:lol

I took my first Celery Extract Caspul today. If you have kidney problems DON'T take it. It does help remove the fluid from your body. That is why it is good for regulating bloodpressure.

Serenity - I hope you have a good weighin today.

Anagram - Hope you have a good weigh-in as well. It is always such a nice feeling to lose a pound or two.

I have given up eating starches (except for 3 pieces of whole grain bread a day) and no sugar and very little salt. Geez, pretty soon I will be a Monk!!!!!

Wowee! Down 1.8 this time. This darn hot weather is good for something. Drinking lots of water and too hot to eat.

Joanne, where are you going in Oct? How great you can make things!

Wjen I first got arthritis more years ago than I can think I went to the Arthritis Foundation self help course. They stressed there the need to keep moving and taking care of yourself and having a good attitude. I think that all helps and I read lots so I can know and keep up with things. Right now I'm the best I've been in 7 years or more. But I know it comes and goes and "best" is relative having nothing to do with my earlier self. And sometimes no matter how hard you try, things do get worse for a while. I'm just happy right now to be doing as well as I am. I'm still trying to get reactivated from the years of the worst knee pain when I could not get around very well. Now it's just a daily cycle of stiffness and soreness which gets a bit better as the day goes on and is back by evening. Also fatigue and sleepiness. But that's good...And some of it may be that I got 20 years older in the process.

I had at one time a lot of trouble accepting what I could not do and sometimes convincing others I couldn't do what I had always done. Had a few "friends" peel off along the way too.

I have more peace with all that now and have those days when I amaze myself and others when my recliner talks to me all day and I don't do much. Dh is a real blessing to me since he retired. (well always but able to be more helpful is a better way of putting it). And I've been blessed in so many other ways. I sometimes figure well we all get some problems and these are mine. And when I get a bit down about it (or anything), sure enough there will come a story on the news that will make me ashamed of feeling sorry for me. But I do "allow" that too. I'll give myself a few minutes to "wallow" and recognize that this (pain or whatever it is that day) is a legitimate downer. I wallow good and hard. And then I say TIMES UP. It seems to work for me because I get back into it and go on.

No, no (slap wrist). No novels.:nono:

Anagram...NAW...they weren't your friends. Friends don't 'peel' off! And if we didn't feel sorry for ourselves when the pain gets bad...we wouldn't be HUMAN!

Congratulations on the weight loss. I've been doing pretty good this week, too. Must be the 'moon' or something! :p

Yappy........I think some things work, just not everthing for everyone..we have to find what works for us ( our leader is very opinionated. ) I have tired so much stuff(and lots did nothing for me, not even a placebo thingy) and what I find helps my immue system if grapeseed extract, been taking it for years. I am still trying to learn what my limits are but when something bothers you one day and not the next it is hard to figure out! All I know for sure right now is that sex hurts! ;) Hummmm...so that celery stuff makes you pee ???????? Might have to try it................but need to get my problem solved first cause I feel like I have to pee all the time now:) I would like something natural for the pain too.....right now I am just using my tennis balls.

Mima..I know what diverticulosis is cause I have it but have never had an inflamation..that is why I asked you for he symptoms and what kind of antibiotic they treat you with...when I was on Cipro I got better........just wondering if it could be that. What ya think?

Joanne, annagram....yes we have to keep moving but there are days when my body says just take it easy so I do my stretches (if I do not do my stretches I get stiff too)and what I can but try not to do strenuous (sp)stuff. Like heavy lifting and using the sweeper.....all that fun stuff! I could never keep up with Meme:D The winter is much worse for me tahn the summer...........the cold bothers me and I think the sunlight change does too

Ally...............is your friend still falling asleep...I should be so lucky:)

I think Meme has the answer for me. It's the moon - that's the answer to all of my goofiness. As Candice says, one day something hurts, next day doesn't. I took part in some testing of new meds a few times and filling out the questionnaires is so hard when it's up and down, here and there aches and pains. Don't know how they ever figure things out.

Have diverticulosis too. Fortunately my problems with it have been minor but baby sissie has had it BIG TIME and sissie just younger than I has had it BIG TIME several times. Neither has required surgery but the former was just an inch or so away. So I try to be good.

Hit ragweed season with a bang this year. Grrrrr.........Just figured out I've spent five years of my life with this friend. One month a year for sixty years. In recent years I've kept it under control pretty much just by staying in a/c most of the time and then able to avoid medicine. But it sort of curtails lots of activity and dh is an outdoor kind of person. A physical Sagittarius. He's had the leg cramps/potassium thing too. He thinks sweating is great and loves to still walk the golf course even when it's these miserably hot days. OK when he was younger but not for a guy with an artificial aortic valve and lots of bp meds. But it all falls on deaf ears....

The other Sagittarius in our family is coming today with family. Just overnight en route to in-law in NY but I'd best get busy and then rest to be ready for her and kiddies. Dh says they're coming in two cars, leaving one here (at garage) for repairs. So that means they'll be here on the way back as well. Lots of xoxoxox's.

Off to pool again today. at least that will get some kinks out. Maybe a chance of rain today. Hit 99 again yesterday. Nice visit with b & sil.

Sweet Thursday, all.

Thanks Candice-will do. I was about a day away from surgery for diverticulosis once-couldn't eat for one month!!!!!That was from cucumber seeds-thought I was eating a seedless cucumber-even those seem to have seeds!!!Went to massage-one leg hurts when I walk and she was trying to figure it out. It is probably related to posture. Leaving Sun or Mon for vacation. Maybe we'll get a pool.

IBS, diverticulosis , I think they have some relation to fibro.Walked all over the mall looking for sandals-too late. I'll look on line. Hubby is still snoring and I've been up for an hour-might as well shop. Mima

Well, it is going to be weekend without you all. I hope you all have a great one. Just DON'T forget to go to Google and search for 3fatchicks.com and put in www.3tatchicks.com whichever works for you. Please don't get lost!!

Don't have diverticulosis but I do have IBS. That can get so very painful as well. I have missed work with that -couldn't even stand up straight - it started in the left lower quarter and went right up to the wishbone. Terrible pain. The Dr. gave me some kind of pills to stop the spasms and they did work. Anyway, whenever you have unexplained pain, you can't just assume that it is FM. I know that causes a lot of our pain, but it sure doesn't cause it all.

I have a babysitting job this weekend, so we are leaving Saturday morning. Will also get some visiting in. I love my babysitting job!!!!!

Everyone have a great weekend and I guess we will all hook again next week.:)

Sometimes I like my babysitting job and sometimes I don't...depends on how many I have, when it is, and how I feel at the time! Tonight, I have Garrett (7) and Kaylyn (4) spending the night. Next weekend, I have Ross (just turned 6 Tuesday and Bipolar) and Jenna (3) Friday AND Saturday nights and then the next weekend I'll have Ross on Friday all day because he is having FOUR teeth pulled on Thursday. Also, I will start having Kaylyn every Tues. and Thurs. from now on. She is going to preK at the Christian school where her Mom teaches on Mon. Wed. Fri. and to a babysitter on Tues. Thurs. now and she hates it at the babysitter's. So...being the good Meme that I am...I told her she could hang with me! She's really good and old enough to take care of herself a lot. She'll be 5 next month. Only problem with Kaylyn is she talks you to death!!!

Well...I've got to comb my hair and get out of here. It is 11:30 and I have a million things to do and another million places to go before 3 when I have to go pick up the kids from school. Be good over the weekend everybody. As for me...I'm going to be pricing stuff for my yardsale the 31st. I have almost all of Mom's stuff done and now I'm going to start on mine! YUCK!

What a sweetie!

My babies (6 and 2) got here last evening about 7 and left this am about ten. They were such fun! (this time - not always) Mom and Dad had so much going on as usual. They're the ones who leave us frazzled. Dh has pretty much been sitting and resting since they left. Just got up now to go out and put away toys from patio.

I at least showered and dressed since then and have MOST of the house back in order. Just have to go straighten up the room the older one stayed in. Then we'll see what's left of the day.

Funny, the one sister I have that doesn't have diverticulosis does have IBS. I wish I were back in the years when I didn't know what any of these things were.

Hope everyone has lots of fun things to do (sounds like Happy and Meme do).

I'm Fine - How are you?

There's nothing the matter with me,
I'm just as healthy as can be,
I have arthritis in both knees,
And when I talk, I talk with a wheeze.
My pulse is weak, my blood is thin,
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.

All my teeth have had to come out,
And my diet I hate to think about.
I'm overweight and I can't get thin,
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.

And arch supports I need for my feet.
Or I wouldn't be able to go out in the street.
Sleep is denied me night after night,
But every morning I find I'm all right.
My memory's failing, my head's in a spin.
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.

Old age is golden I've heard it said,
But sometimes I wonder, as I go to bed.
With my ears in a drawer, my teeth in a cup,
And my glasses on a shelf, until I get up.
And when sleep dims my eyes, I say to myself,
Is there anything else I should lay on the shelf?

The reason I know my Youth has been spent,
Is my get-up-and-go has got-up-and-went!
But really I don't mind, when I think with a grin,
Of all the places my get-up has been.

I get up each morning and dust off my wits,
Pick up the paper and read the obits.
If my name is missing, I'm therefore not dead,
So I eat a good breakfast and jump back into bed.

The moral of this as the tale unfolds,
Is that for you and me, who are growing old.
It is better to say "I'm fine" with a grin,
Than to let people know the shape we are in.

Wahoo! Back on on the new server.

Loved the poem, Meme.

Disgustingly hot again today 97 or so and tomorrow is now supposed to be in the 90s again. Can't wait till Tuesday and Wedbesday cooldown.

My only exercise the last two days was walking around the new Wal-Mart Supercenter that opened in a nearby town.

Well it looks like we are back in business.. I had a really quiet weekend. Read and did some ironing..Went to Publix and bought everything that I needed for a FAT supper. I know! But it was comfort food. Now I have to be good for about two weeks to get it off. My son said bread and water... It rained all around us this week.. We were the dry spot on the western north side of Florida. Bye...Joanne

If I ever slow down I'll collapse! I was going to take Saturday off but wound up putting up green beans. Now my hands are killing me from the stringing and breaking. Thank goodness that's almost all of them. Hubby said we'd have a few more to eat...I don't mind breaking a pot full at a time but we had A LOT Saturday! All the corn is gone, too. I can't believe summer is over. I don't know where it went. I've been so tied up with Mama and all her stuff that I didn't even realize it had come and gone!

Today I have Jenna...she's running a temp so I'll probably get whatever she has! Tomorrow and Thursday I'll have Kaylyn. Today is a work day, too...I don't know how this is going to go...I have 4 adults who take piano lessons on Monday and Jenna is only 3. I really wish my family would realize that just because I stay home doesn't mean I don't have a job!!!!!!!

I also had to call in a 'shopping job' this morning and I had to spend 15 minutes getting Jenna settled first so she wouldn't bug me while I was on the phone....that would be very unprofessional and they don't use people who aren't professional so that would mean they wouldn't call me for another job. And this one was good...I critiqued a Golden Corral restaurant last night...got my meal and $15. There are several things I 'work at' at home and I ALWAYS HAVE! But my family has always acted as though I was here for them whenever they needed me and that I don't work. I guess you know by now that this REALLY BUGS THE HECK (mild word) OUT OF ME!!!!!!! I don't mind helping them out but gee (another mild word)...I have a life, too!

Sorry...didn't mean to gripe so much...had to get it all out...

Time to go 'try to' teach!

Hey Guys. Had a terribly hot week and I didn't even get on the computer. Then when I did.....the server was down on this site and I couldn't fin my password. They were supposed to e-mail me one and I didn't get it. Then I found it.
Wow. A lot of work to find you, and I haven't read anything yet cause I still have lots to do while it is under 80 degrees.
Having more problems with my son.....this time he let some boys use his father's house while he was gone and they did damage. He is so easily influenced. Can't wait til he outgrows this immaturity.
He is cleaning his room right now.
He just asked me what month comes after August.
What do they teach in school.
Will check in tomorrow and see if you have been talking about sex again:dizzy:

Ally- Give him about 30 years. My son is still a boy at heart and he is 43. I guess we wouldn't want them any other way. SEX! Don't want to think about it. It gets us in all kinds of trouble. Besides the aches and pains later.
Meme- Our kids think we are always available ! I used to get time off to go over 200 miles to babysit for my daughter. It cost me over 100 dollers a day etc..
I wonder why I am not getting email that I have messages on 3 fatchicks? It is still in my profile. Maybe they left that out on the change over?
Hello Everyone. My hubby has got a movie to watch so I better go.. Joanne
