:coffee: Happy Hump Day!

The weatherman is telling us it's snowing out, but it sure looks dry to me! :dizzy: It's supposed to be a little warmer today, too, but I don't plan to to spend much time outside anyway.

I'm going in early today to help Cindy's MIL put away her Christmas stuff and clean her house. She's the one who's had her shoulder replaced, and she's coming along pretty good now but still can't lift her arm above her elbow. I enjoy helping her out, since we mostly sip tea and chat. She's a very proper Scottish woman and a real sweetheart, and has some fascinating stories to tell about growing up in the Scottish highlands.

I've been having some stellar OP days, and I know planning ahead and knowing exactly what I'm going to be eating has helped immensely. I hope it's not too long before I start noticing the difference in my waistbands. ;) I'm determined that this is the year I'm finally going to make my goal.

It's great to see all the new faces here and also see some of our former Beachers coming back! :) This plan rocks and really works!

Morning, Linda! It sounds like you're going to have a great morning. Great job staying on plan! Keep up the good work!

I have been sticking to plan as well, but woke up to a two pound gain this morning. I hate when that happens. I spent all of yesterday battling the little demon on my shoulder telling me that just one of my grandmother's Christmas cookies wouldn't hurt and that Andes mints are really not so bad and that everyone else was eating brownies with chocolate icing so I should, too. It stinks to get through all of that and then see the number on the scale not reflect your huge will power output. I know why the number when up, though, and there's not much I can do about ovulating, so I'm just going to have to deal with it. Sometimes I really hate being a girl.

We had a really nice night last night. The family all gathered at my grandfather's house and told stories and ate a nice meal together. I stayed completely on plan, despite the evil Andes mints and iced brownies, and felt really proud of myself. Today we're having lunch at my grandparents' and I don't think I'll be able to stay on plan, but I will stay as close as I can.

Have a good Wednesday, all!

'Morning, Beachies, and Happy Hump Day, the first of 2010.

Kara, the Grandfather Time sounds so nice! Good for you at brushing off that little demon.

Cottage, today sounds beautifully peaceful for a change. Enjoy! How's Jake's cold?

Lately the dogs have been letting me "sleep in" until after six and it's great! I think they are still tired out from the Christmas flurry. Disney doesn't know it yet but she's getting a fur trim this morning so we can see her eyes when we do pet therapy this afternoon. I'm lucky to have non-shedding dogs but their hair just doesn't stop growing. Jazz's eyes are disappearing in his "bangs" too.

I'm pleased to say I've been able to stay OP and keep my ticker from lying. My current goal is set for my trip to Disney mid-March. I'll need less baggage to keep up with my son, DIL and Tayler who will be nine.

Hope today is whittling!

Good morning :coffee2: Actually I'm almost through my morning coffee already and finished 30 minutes on the Wii Fit. That thing has been a really good addition though I was a little unsure when DD gave it to us.

Cottage - funny coincidences - my BF is Scottish and had shoulder surgery a year ago.
:carrot: Congratulations on staying on plan. You've motivated me to get better with planning ahead. I know you can do it this year if you set your mind to it :)

Kara - Sounds like the perfect way to remember your Grandfather and some special family time. That weight will shift in its own time and probably with a nice woosh. The scale just likes to make us wait.

Ruth - Nice of the dogs to let you sleep in. :cp: for honest tickers

Speaking of tickers I might start acknowledging mine again this weekend. I decided to stay off the scale until the weekend to give myself time to detox and get back to healthy without the numbers taunting me. However the Wii thinks I'm losing so we shall see ;)

Today is my last office day this week. Tomorrow is my up North meeting, though I may do it via phone. In either case I won't be in the office. Weather permitting my neighbor and I are going snow shoeing tomorrow afternoon. Then Friday I'm on treadmill repairman detail. He is coming sometime Friday but we don't know when. I'll go to PT in the morning then hang around until he gets here and do some WFH.

Tonight I'm heading out after work with 2 co-workers. One seriously needs to vent and de-stress so we decided to grab a drink and chat for an hour or so. Glad I got a workout in already so I won't be too far off today.

Hope your Hump Day is shaping up manageable and not too steep ;)

01-06-2010, 08:42 AM
Good morning chicks!

Cottage - that sounds nice...the tea and the chat! I have not been as good as you ;), great job!

Kara - I hear ya on that evil voice! I'm glad you're enjoying your time with family, although I'm sad of why you have to.

Ruth - They look so good with the fresh haircut! Congrats on on plan...everyone has renewed will power with the new year!

Me - Did NOT wanna get up this am for the treadmill. BUt I did, and it went REALLY well. Yahoo!! Tomorrow will be the day off from running (I don't like to do it too many days in a row). If it keeps going like this, I just might make that half marathon this year!!

Today, and a lot in the next couple weeks will probably be pretty bad with the diet given the kitchen remodeling circumstances. My DH (DDDDDH) decided last night he wants another wall down today to save time took out 4 more cabinets last night. Thank goodness we can keep the stove plugged in and for crock pots! I premade some black beans for black beans n rice....mmmmmm.....

Hopefully, the running will ward away poundage!!

Have a great day chicks!

Simulpost....Cyndi - I'm enjoying the Wii Fit too! I'm hoping that yoga will help the core muscles and stay a bit stronger. That little voice of the board is annoying though!!!

01-06-2010, 08:44 AM
Good Morning:sunny:

Cottage, thanks for getting us started! It's warm here, too, although they keep saying COLDER.....Great job with your stellar OP days! I'm on with you for getting to goal in 2010-my first one, anyway. SBD does rock! Have a great day!

Kara, it's really nice to see you this morning-only now you feel like the next door neighbor. Take care today and thanks for taking the time to keep in touch!

Ruth, great job, too, staying OP. I bought a trimmer for Bing and I don't know about him, but I'm really enjoying it. I'm able to keep his bangs trimmed at home and it seems to keep his eyes feeling better. Kirk wants me to do his hair to save money but I figure thats :nono:. Have a great day!

Hi Cyndi:wave: I'm really interested in your Wii updates. I may PM you one of these days to get the specifics. I'm interested and my Costco CCard cycles out midmonth thus extending my $$ time a month. Have a great day I'd better hustle!

ETA-Hi Twynn. We were posting at the same time. Have a great day!

I've been up awhile knitting, but need to get in gear. I'm leaving at 615 to take the bus to a land aerobics class so Kirk can use the car to go to the weight room at 9. Pool is closed for maintenance today. Then I'm meeting my lady bouncers for breakfast-easy to stay OP. I'll take the bus home and have lots of exercise in. :cp: I'll be back later to knit and chat.

01-06-2010, 08:47 AM
I just took another bag out for the trash pick-up and we've had enough snow in just the past hour to cover the ground. It's looking like it's stopped now, though.

Kara, the scale and I don't get along at all. They lie! Good for you for fighting off the demon last night, and be strong today! You can do it.

Ruth, Jake's cold seems to be gone, thank goodness. I don't think it ever got as bad as he expected it to be, LOL! I hope Disney sits still while she's getting all prettied up. I can picture her and Jazz's cute little faces still. :)

01-06-2010, 08:56 AM
This is my 5th day on the Beach and I feel good. I haven't had to fight my inner demons too much.

01-06-2010, 08:57 AM
Good morning chicks. Today should be pretty quiet, so looking forward to continuing my productive week. Panic really gets my buttt moving! I ordered some new exercise videos on Cyndi's urging, and I hope they come today so I can try one out. I've sworn off the scale this year, but I'm looking forward to getting back into my pants comfortably. The kids bamboozled me into doing Adopt-a-pony, so I'll have to get them out to the farm after school to attend to their ponies.

Twynn, kitchen reno makes food rough. Good luck to you!
Cyndi, busy, busy, busy! Sounds like you have a nicely balanced week with work, me time, exercise, and chores. That's the way to do it! I'll make a note...
cottage, I agree with Ruth about shaking your Cindy. I hope she realizes you are a treasure and I hope your today is enjoyable! Sounds like you are getting a great start to the New Year by rockin' the plan.
Kara, enjoy your family time. How long are you all staying?
Ruth, We'll be at Disney World in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping for some warm and sunny weather, but it's not looking likely right now! Oh well, it will be better than here for sure. March is a great time to go - you'll have the Flower and Garden festival to enjoy.

Hey, if anyone sees a great deal on plane tickets to Europe this summer, please let me know - I need to buy five, so I'm looking for a decent price, and right now I'm not seeing anything.
Have a great hump day all.

01-06-2010, 08:59 AM
My goodness, a lot of us were simulposting!

Cyndi, I'm glad the wii is working out so well for you. Today is my "Thursday", and I'm loving my 4 day weeks. It sounds like you have some fun plans for the next several days, and I hope the girl-time with your friend tonight cheers her up.

Twynn, congratulations on getting up and getting to the gym this morning! I bet your kitchen is going to look great once it's all finished and be worth all the inconvenience in the meantime.

Debbie, your day sounds like fun. I enjoy riding the bus, I like to leave the driving to someone else for a nice change. You've perked my interest in taking up knitting or crocheting again during the winter months. It sounds so peaceful and cozy.

Good morning, Schmoodle! I'll keep my ears and eyes open for some good flight deals for you. Do you belong to AAA? They often offer some pretty reasonable packages.

01-06-2010, 09:23 AM
Good morning ladies. School was canceled here today (and I appreciate that it was announced last night, even if I couldn't sleep late.) I hope my cycling class at the gym does not follow suit. Snow is not supposed to start until late morning so I plan to workout then grocery shop for the next several days. Meals all planned:)

I have a suggestion - but am not really sure what it is! Since there are so many of us newbies on here and you gals already know each other so well, maybe you could take the time for a New Year reintroduction of yourselves? Or even adding a link to your bio, which I have seen someone do, would help. But as Ruthxxx posted previously, that format doesn't seem to really let us know you very well or easily. I know this is asking a lot for those of you who have been hanging out together so long, but anything would be a help for us newbies to get to know you. Not sure if it would be part of the daily chat or a new thread. I am really thinking about those of you who are so faithfully posting each day.

Other ideas?

01-06-2010, 09:35 AM
Hi all. Once again no time for individuals (and I so like doing the rainbow of colors!). I had some unsuspected (to me anyway) oral work done and was pretty much out of it all day. I was numb (7 shots of Novocain) until 10p.

I am proud, however, that I did not stray despite my lack of being able to eat! I asked DW to pick up yogurt and I have vegetarian beans with some cheese on them for lunch/dinner. I can barely eat still but yogurt and a V8 might be it for me for the next few meals!

Have a good day chickies.

Kara:

01-06-2010, 09:37 AM
How about we "old" Beachers grab our BIOs from the 2009 BIO thread and revamp? You can either leave the results in the old thread for me to move or post directly in the new thread.

I'll go first......when I get my next coffee.

01-06-2010, 09:41 AM
The bus only runs on the hour until 7 so DH is giving me a ride in.

Food Obsessed, glad you popped in this AM. Great job staying OP. You can do this, and I think checking in everyday really helps!

Schmoodle, isn't it great how we all help motivate each other. Adopt a pony-Wow-thats a new one for me but definitely sounds great for the kids.

WaistingTime, a free day :cp: hope the gym is open. Gothik Butterfly helped me get the beacher bio link on my sig (I'll post instructions) and I think Ruthie is working on getting us all updated. Lots of things get easier, too, when your sig and ability to PM kicks in. For me, getting to know everyone has been a KEY to my continued success on SBD. Have a great day!

Ok, off to exercise!

01-06-2010, 10:09 AM
Oh, Ruth, a trip to Disney sounds like such fun! Have a good time with the pups today.

Cyndi, thanks for the sympathy. That scale is an exercise in patience, isn't it? Have fun with your friend this evening!

Tammy, I'm glad you had a good run this morning. Good luck with your creative meal planning!

Debbie, I always used to do Tom's hair cuts when he was in the Honor Guard. They had to have their hair just so - escorting the President and all that jazz - and we just didn't have enough money for him to go to the barber shop three times a week. Now he shaves his head, so it's much easier for him to do himself!

Linda, thanks for the will power! I will need it at my grandparents' house! My grandmother is a stellar cook!

FoodObsessed, glad those demons are quieting down! They are evil, evil, evil. Be gone, demons!!!

Schmoodle, are you coming to visit me??? I have heard February is a good time to fly. In all seriousness, if you're going to be in our area, let me know! We'd love to see you! To answer your question, we'll be here until early next week probably.

WaistingTime, good job with the meal planning! I like your suggestion for reintroductions.

Jenn, thanks for the hugs. I'm glad your dental work is over and done with. Hope you recover quickly!

01-06-2010, 10:32 AM
Linda: sounds like you have a great day planned. I love listening to old women tell stories of their childhood. fascinating!

Kara: Great job staying OP last night!

Ruth: I love little doggie bangs! I can't wait to get a puppy :)

Cyndi: Have fun snowshoeing. What a leg workout!

Twynn: Congratulations on the fun run this morning! A half marathon! What a great thing to strive for.

Lexxiss: I don't think we've met, but always nice to have a fellow knitter in the house. I have so many projects going right now.

FO: Congrats on the 5th day! Only a few more days left :)

Schmoo: I'm sure the kids love adopt-a-pony. I loved it when I was a kid :) It was a great way to spend time with the people I loved too!

Waisting time: I haven't been around for awhile, but when I was a newbie around here I found that just reading the daily chat helped me to kind of get a sense for who the other people were and fill in the blanks that their bios left. Welcome!

Jenne::wave: Hope that tooth feels better soon!

Today is more of the same for me. Unpacking and trying to get things back to normal around here. I have got to go through the kids' rooms and declutter their toys. Maybe I'll give that job to DH.

I revamped the guest bath yesterday, just gave it a little facelift with a new curtain, towels and a rug. It looks nice and I much prefer the new curtain to the one that I had before.

DH is having a root-canal on Friday, so I need to find a sitter for the kids....preferably for the entire weekend ;) DH is a big baby about stuff like this.

off to make breakfast...have a lovely day, ladies :)

01-06-2010, 10:41 AM
good morning

Ruth - Disney with granddaughter is something to really look forward to
Cottage - glad you are having and easier day today

Twynn - I have been living with a kitchen renovation now for at least 5 years. DH is doing everything himself, all the cabinets are built from scratch and I have learned not to complain.

Debbie - Good that DH is giving you a lift. You certainly are devoted to your exercise and such a inspiration not to mention the knitting.

Cyndi - Enjoy your short week and have a good time tonight

Kara - Glad you were able to make it to the states and I am sure you are a comfort to your family.

Schmoodles - I too have sworn off the scale for a few months at least.
Have a pair of jeans that are too tight and they will be my gauge.

Foodobsessed - you are great, keep it up.

Waisting time - meal planning is an important thing to do.

Jenn - hope your pain goes way quickly.

me - have to vent. I never watch Biggest Loser but had time yesterday and watched maybe half an hour. So they get all these people excited that they will have help to lose weight. Now the first assignment is to ride a stationery bike for 26 miles. and the last ones will be out of the show. Some of these people are over 500lbs so get real. It was heartbreaking and after that I just turned the channel. Today I have a big list of grocery shopping and doing house work and maybe setting up my loom.
take care

01-06-2010, 11:11 AM
Good Morning all.....:coffee:

day 3 of phase one and I am still doing good, I have taken a second look at homemade cookies someone brought into work and dh chips on the counter but I just pulled my big-girl panties up and walked away.

01-06-2010, 11:26 AM
Sophie - tonight on Discovery Health they are showing a program about a man who lost the most weight ever on a reality tv weight loss show and gained it all back. Sounds like it might be interesting, and basically confirms your feelings.

01-06-2010, 11:57 AM
Good morning, everyone. I'm just popping in this morning. I'm still battling a severe sinus headache, but I came into work today anyways. I may stay home after lunch depending on how I feel. I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!!

01-06-2010, 12:41 PM
mmckellen - sounds like an interesting show! I might have to tune in :)

01-06-2010, 12:50 PM
Zeff! :welcome: back.

little chick
01-06-2010, 01:18 PM
Hello chicks: just popping in to say hello. Feeling a little stressed out today. Don't even want to eat, although i did force myself to have a lettuce and tomatoe sandwhich. I had to go back for my mamogram recall, the redid it and then I had to have a ultra sound on my left breast. The Dr. said there is density there ( not sure what the really means) so I have to go back in 6 mos. I think I am going to make a call and go see my family Dr. cause I don't think I can stress out over this for 6 mos. Well got to go I have a million thing to catch up on since I was gone all morning.

01-06-2010, 01:57 PM
Thanks, Ruth! Things are settled down around here and now I can concentrate on this a bit more :)

01-06-2010, 02:33 PM
Hi ladies,

Things are wild here today! My class is behaving wonderfully, (they really are a nice little bunch) but there are substitutes in the classrooms on either side of me and the ed tech is out sick today, too. I've been running back and forth trying to keep things running smoothly in all 3 rooms all morning.
The subs are doing a great job, but both are used to working with older kids.

No time to snowshoe today, monthly staff meeting this afternoon and it will be dark by the time I get home. I had a really great time yesterday though, and one of my colleagues is planning to bring her daughter's snowshoes to school tomorrow and try them out. I'm looking forward to the company, and hoping she enjoys it as much as I do.

The recess bell just rang. I'm out of time already, so no time for personals today. As always, I really enjoyed reading your posts - I love this thread. :)

Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday friends!

01-06-2010, 02:50 PM
Littlechick, do not stress. I have to have an ultrasound every time I have a mammo b/c my breasts are so dense. If they did the u/s and you were not called back for anything do not stress on it. They probably did the u/s because on the mammo a mass or something appeared - an u/s tells them whether the mass is solid or just a liquid cyst. From what you say it sounds like the u/s indicates it is a simple liquid cyst and they just want to follow up in 6 months to see if it is still there. If they had any doubts after the u/s they would have called you back for a needle biopsy. Been there and done that. Not to worry.

01-06-2010, 03:07 PM
Wow way to many on to do personals today nice having so many on though.

Tonight we are supposed to get 3 to 5 inches of snow so I might be wfh tomorrow and Friday.

Still staying strong with being OP and exercising.

Have a wonderful day everyone

little chick
01-06-2010, 03:42 PM
Thanks Mmckellen, makes me feel a little better.

01-06-2010, 05:43 PM
Hi Zephy! Your Connor is so big! I can't believe it. Wasn't he just born last week???

Sophie, I'm sorry you were disappointed in the show. I don't watch that one religiously but I will not miss a Survivor or American Idol episode!

Susan, good job resisting the treats! One day at a time!

Kim, hope you feel better soon!

Heidi, think of all the calories you're burning running back and forth today!

LC, I'll be thinking about you today. Hope you can get in to see the family doc soon.

Rose, enjoy your snow!

I am back from lunch at my grandmother's and get a big fat F for staying on plan. On the bright side, I'd get an A+ for eating off plan! Actually, it wasn't that bad. She had made vegetable lasagna (with regular white flour noodles), green beans, corn, and salad. So the only bad thing about lunch was the noodles. Then she made apple pie with vanilla ice cream and put out Christmas cookies for dessert. Argh. I feel all lightheaded and dizzy now and I swear it's because of the sugar. But, I have a good attitude and I already have a great Beachy dinner planned - roasted butternut squash with onions and garlic and cheddar cheese, salad, whole wheat couscous, and fake chicken. And now I am going to run on the treadmill and then do a toning workout. I'm turnin' it around, girls. :)

Just popping in before bed!

Today we were snowbound. Schools all closed, too dangerous to try and reach a motorway so DH worked from home. Naturally, my fridge delivery has been postponed :(

Still, I stayed totally OP despite being hungry as there wasn't enough salady stuff for everyone to have a decent-sized lunch. Ho hum, I'm not hungry anymore so all's well that end's well.

And now I'm off to bed. Keep your fingers crossed that the roads aren't horrendously icy tomorrow!

01-06-2010, 08:24 PM

L.C, I have to have an ultrasound every year with my mammo, too, for the same reason as Mmckellen. Please try not to worry!

little chick
01-06-2010, 09:07 PM
Thanks Ladies, I am trying not to worry. I never get sick so I guess this is freaking me out a little. I am sure I will feel better once I get into see my family dr. I am going to call the first of the week, I want to wait til he gets the results. I never have to wait to long to get in so that is not to bad. Wow got to dash and pick up dd she was off work 6 mins ago she is going to be calling.

01-06-2010, 10:42 PM
Little Chick, You will feel better after you talk with your doctor. :)

I actually had a mammogram today, too. It wasn't as bad as I expected. A funny thing happened... A male tech walked me to the mammo room. I looked at him and said, "Surely, you aren't doing this test." He smiled and said that the female nurse would be with me in a minute. Wheeeewwww!!! I don't know that I could have a male doing my mammogram. :D

You Northern Chicks will not believe this... School has been canceled tomorrow and Friday. We are expecting one inch of snow! Seriously! Actually, the problem is we are getting an "Arctic Blast" with the snow, so they are expecting some nasty road conditions. Alabama folks aren't prepared for bad roads. Do we have salt for the roads??? I don't know! My office has closed for tomorrow. We are playing Friday by ear.

I love all the excitement on the boards! Hi New Chickies!

01-07-2010, 03:28 AM
HI ladies- I am SUPER late today... all is still well... I will try to get in early tomorrow. Food wise I have been pretty good... no exercise yet though. I am thinking in the morning! :)
