Default Not stressing over what I eat

Many years ago I lost 50lbs not really stressing what I ate. I had an dairy queen plain vanilla ice cream in a cup like every other day and still lost weight.. I just worked out more.

I swear the minute I tell myself I can't have something the more I want I want it. So instead I just have itty bitty portions or something.

I do pick healthy things off menus, stay away from high caloric drinks pick heathly snacks, and have normal meals just smaller and no seconds. Oh but I work out 3-4 days a week now.

So far I have lost 51lbs.

Welcome Brad, and congrats on your loss!

You'll find that there are many approaches to weight loss and maintenance that have been employed successfully here, including the one you used (limiting portions but no food is off-limits). Please feel free to join us on the chat thread!

This is totally me! I work with the same concept, I never tell myelf I "can't" have something. Once a week or two I allow myself to have something I normally wouldn't eat..If I'm craving it, but only in moderation. fr me it's all about what I do for a majority of the time that adds up. Also, all along I've tried to make my focus be what I "can" have rather than what I "can't". It puts a more positive spin on things.

Not everyone can treat themselves to "indulgences" as it triggers some people to eat more of it. So neat how different we all are, different things work differently for each of us. Makes the world more interesting too. :-)

Me as well. The trick that works for me having what I've been craving is to have it in a measured amount, with no more available. Mos things like ice cream or pizza, I buy a cone, or a piece, and when it's gone there is no more. Same with chips, I'll buy the "personal" size bag. If I buy a big bag and portion it out, I'll go back for more til it's gone. Working on that. It depends on the item.
