Happy New Years everyone....:newyear:

01-01-2010, 12:40 AM
My mushy gushy love you all post did not post. That is just not right. As this year quickly slips into the next I really wanted ya'll to know how special each of you is. There are many faces and names that are no longer with us but have also been a part of this journey. I look so forward to starting the new year with ya'll and setting new milestones together. I hope and pray you are all having the best New Year's Eve ever.

God bless,

01-01-2010, 02:42 PM
I'm agreeing with you Crystle. Theres so many people I'm missing on this board. But can't wait to start the New Year with all of you. Yippee we've got a new beginning. I stayed up late and slept late this morning. Then I've messed around with my computer the rest of the morning. Leaving a breakfast/lunch combo to make. DH wants sausage and eggs but think I might make me a good blueberry smoothie and maybe some peanut butter toast. I'm baking a ham for dinner but we'll have a light side and thats it. So most my day is planned. Hope you're all doing good.

01-01-2010, 02:45 PM
Good morning. I really want this year to be about being the best me I can be. Not just physically but in every area of my life. Even if it is just a second to say hello I'm going to try and post daily, if I don't it's okay but that is my goal. Each person here adds so much to my life without even knowing it. I hope and pray ya'll are having a good day and an awesome start to your new year. So far so good...nothing bad has crossed these lips. :)

Love and hugs,

Good afternoon. I almost said morning it feels so early. Probably because I laid in bed and watched a western movie with my sweetie this morning. An old James Stewart one, it was so good. Breakfast this morning was a winner. It was turkey hash made with sweet potato and summer squash. Robert was eating cookies and Jess was eating candy and I actually stayed out of it. :) See my proud smile.

I hope and pray ya'll are warm and dry having a super weekend so far.

Do ya'll have a day that you weight in? I'd like to make mine when everyone else has theirs. Oh, and I don't know about ya'll but drinking water in the winter is SOOOOO hard for me. All whining aside I've started drinking water again. I really believe it is one of the major keys to my success in the past and my lack of success recently. Plus it is just so good for us. So grab a nice tall cold one. :)

God bless,

Good afternoon. I've got to get up earlier and cook breakfast in the morning. I just had egg in a basket which was so good and I was starving from waiting so long to cook. That is something to work on with my getting my life back together for the New Year. Eating was so good yesterday but I don't think I'm eating enough. I'm for sure not getting enough veggies.

Crystle- Why oh why can't I have a breakfast like yours. It sounds wonderful. I've never even heard of of turkey hash. I would love to make some. I'm having a hard time getting my water in to. And I know it makes a difference. I just don't want to drink it in the winter. (Another thing for me to work on)

Hope we get some of our people back next week. Everyone have a good day.....

01-02-2010, 06:36 PM
Kids go back to school Monday & I get my life back!!!!!

01-02-2010, 10:16 PM
Just having one of those temporary it all stinks never gonna lose a pound ought to eat what I want moments. :) Just thought I'd come here and vent instead of surfing the kiddos Christmas candy. I hope ya'll are having a nice evening.

Scrappinhut...glad to see you.

Toni..Thank you for always being so encouraging. The hash was really easy. I just sauteed some onions and peppers with yellow squash and a large sweet potato. When all that was tender I threw in some diced up turkey breast leftover from the other night.

Love and hugs,

01-02-2010, 10:54 PM
Crystle- Its so funny you would say that. I just weighed and gained 1/2 lb. That sucks. We just have to keep working on it. It will come off it really will. The hash sounds wonderful. I have to try making it. I never thought of using sweet potatoes. Thanks so much for letting me know how.

scrappinhut- Glad to see you posting. Welcome back with us.

We can do this and be thin in 2010....

01-03-2010, 02:02 PM
Feeling better this morning. I am staying away from the scale though because I do believe it is part of the reason for yesterday's foul mood. The guys had french toast for breakfast so I'm getting a tad hungry. I try not to skip meals but I don't eat french toast even though I make a sugar free version.

My sister and I had a sweet visit the other day. She even trimmed my hair for me. I'm so glad because the ends were beginning to look like witch's hair. I was SO close to cutting it all off. Growing up I was always taught older women can't have long hair. Here I am at 45 and it is almost longer than it has ever been. Of course a lot thinner and grayer now. :)

Toni...((hugzz)) Just remember the scale is not always the best indication of how well we are doing. One of the things I've noticed since I've been eating properly is that I really haven't had any indigestion and very little swelling. You are so right. WE CAN DO THIS! I need a large sign on the wall for when I'm having my pity parties..LOL Or maybe I should just quit having the parties. :)

NurseDee...I hope not hearing from you this weekend means you are having a GREAT weekend.

Solly...looking forward to you getting back with us. Can't wait to hear all about your adventures.

Scrappinhut...less than a day till freedom..LOL :) Hope you are having an awesome Sunday.

God bless,

01-03-2010, 06:20 PM
Got my big pot of vegetable beef soup made. It looks so good. I hope it tastes good. I put everything but the kitchen sink in it. Just ended up with a sweet potato and some cabbage in it to finish it off. Made me a smoothie for breakfast and had a small handful of walnuts, so eating has been good today.

Crystle- I think the scale is my undoing to. I haven't yet picked a day to weigh in. I usually did it on Wed. But I'm not sure. That's nice your sis could trim your hair. I need a permanent.

Its been snowing lightly all day here. It looks so pretty.

Morning Ladies:

Happy New Year's to all of you. Today is my first day back at work since Dec 18th. We has a great time my last 2 visitors just flew out on yesterday. I am exhausted. We had 4 guest staying with us . I have been staying OP ( I was so busy I hardly had time to eat. I have exercised 4 days a week in the last 3 weeks. I now plan to go for 5 days a week in exercising.

How about us having official weigh-in day. You guys can pick the day. I would like the accountability. I would love to get to my goal by the end of this year and spend the rest of my life maintaining.

Hi Toni and Crystle. I'll check in later. Have a great day.

01-04-2010, 12:19 PM
I'm back.

I have missed you girls. Bad eating is over. I even told Dh that when we eat out, we will be sharing an entree and adding a salad each. We definately do not need all that food. I am so ready to start eating right and getting this weight off.

I made it to the gym 4 days last week. Of course it was nice to get to go around 8:00 and not at 5:00 am or after work.

Having extreme numbness in my arms and hands. It only allows me about 4 hours asleep each night and the rest of the night I walk around the house trying to get rid of the numbness. It is hard for me to type and use the mouse and definately holding a pen. I can 't wait until Thursday when I go and get my cervical epidural and I pray that helps a lot.

Toni & Crystle, this is our year. We are going to do this and lets make a pack that before we go off plan, we come here and post. My dd got a laptop so as soon as we can figure out how to get internet service, I will be able to get on at night or weekends hopefully. Sounds like you all have got a good start on your eating.

Crystle, I'm with you on a diet or plan. We are just eating healthy and watch portion sizes. I will follow SB mainly (ww, low sugar, etc) but will also not deprive me of something I want, but a small portion.

Toni, I can't wait for the BL tomorrow night. There are some big people on this one.

Be back later or tomorrow

01-04-2010, 12:23 PM
Would you like me to start a new thread for 2010? I can move this year's posts there with no problem and close this "October" Thread.
Name suggestions, please.

01-04-2010, 12:25 PM
Mercee,we were posting at the same time. You have done great. You are truly an inspiration. You should have no trouble meeting your goals. Keep up the good work.

I always liked weighing in on Wednesays or even Mondays may help us make it through the weekends. It doesn't matter, but I really like doing it as a group so lets pick a day and do it this week.

Also, one suggestion for getting inyour water. I like mine over ice not out of a bottle, The colder the better and I like to add lemn. A straw really makes it go down quicker. Hope this helps.

01-04-2010, 12:28 PM
Yes Ruth, I think a 2010 thread would be great. Thanks for asking.

01-04-2010, 12:35 PM
How about "We're Busting Sugar in 2010" ?

01-04-2010, 03:00 PM
Oh thank you Ruth. The name sounds perfect. I like Wed. as a weigh in. But I'll do any day you all want. We're going to have a good year I just know it. I've got a good start. But I'm not eating enough. I need to revamp my eating. Going in now to cook breakfast/lunch.. Think I'll make an omelet.

Solly- Its so good to see you back. Thats great you've been working out. Thats a good idea about eating out. You are right this is our year. I cut the wine out. I sure miss having it in the evening.

Mercee-Glad to see you back.

Sorry this is so short. Will be back later.

01-04-2010, 03:53 PM
Bump. I started you off with the Happy New Year wishes.

01-04-2010, 04:04 PM
Howdy ya'll. If our post are going to move I'll wait before I start the diet tips until we move. Thanks Ruth for offering to start the new thread.

I wrote a letter about how many people we need to get our own space again or about even paying dues but I didn't get a response. I probably didn't ask in the right place. :) But I tried..LOL

Today's eating is good. Eating a burrito/salad as I type.

Solly...WTG with working out. I got one workout in the other day. It's really cold outside but I've been thinking of walking, even if just for 15 minutes. Love your idea about posting before cheating. I think that will help me a lot. It's awesome you are going to have more access to the computer. are so right. This is going to be our year.

Mercee...AWESOME on working out! Now to get my bootie in gear. :) You'll get to your goal this year. ((hugzz))

Scrappinhut...Hope you are enjoying your day.

Ellen..thinking of you.

Bob....come back and say howdy. Your posts always make me smile.

God bless,

Hello ladies:

Wednesday's would be a great weigh-in day for me or whatever day the majority decides.

This will be our year let's burn this board up encouraging each other this year! In 2010 we are going to win!!!

01-04-2010, 08:23 PM
Had a great day today. Work was great! Eating was good but I ate too many "legal" carbs. Got up the nerve to weigh in this am. 165!! Up 15 lbs since June when my life fell slowly to pieces. But that is the past and this is the present!! I am determined to get it off. Made it to the gym this am also. Did 30 mins of cardio. I hope to start adding weights very soon.

If everyone is weighing in Wed. I will re-weigh.

The low tonight is 23 degrees here. We are not used to this down here and everyone is quite sluggish!!

I will check in again tonight or tomorrow!!

Best to all!!

01-04-2010, 10:06 PM
Eating has been good. Had a few healthy nuts for a snack. And then made a pan cooked chicken breast and kept my serving size like a deck of cards, then had a green salad with it. I'm having a nice cup of green tea now. Happy how my day has gone.

Ruth- Thank you so much. We needed a new start..

Crystle- Hope your walking goes okay. Its way to cold for me. But in a week or two I'll start back on the treadmill. Just not feeling it yet.

Mercee- You go girl......

scrappinhut-Good going on the cardio. Those 15 lbs will come off in no time.

01-04-2010, 11:23 PM
I can't believe I actually got a short walk in. Yep, about 25 minutes and it was COLD..LOL ;) Later in the week it will be way to cold to walk as we are having record lows this year. Scrappinhut, I'm net door in Texas and we too are getting some lows in the 20's. They are saying Friday the high might not even reach freezing. My old house becomes and icebox in those temps.

Since most seem to like Wed. I'll go with that as weight in. Though I really like Mondays because it makes me be good over the weekend. Maybe I'll have an official board day and a make Crystle behave day also.

Thanks Ruth for the updated board. A fresh start needs a fresh board. :)

Toni..I made chicken breast for dinner also. I took chicken strips and cooked them with peppers and onions then made a BBQ sauce to simmer into it. I had a spaghetti squash that was on it's last leg to I fixed that and some broccoli. The kids really liked the BBQ sauce on the squash. I must have too since I'm still stuffed.

Mercee...I'm with you.

Well, my nice warm bath is ready and it smells like chocolate so I'm gonna enjoy. If I can't eat it I can at least smell it. Oh, and don't let me kid ya, I had some sugar free chocolate for dessert. :)

God bless,

01-05-2010, 09:28 AM
Good morning ladies,

Feeling much better today. I actually slept all night, except for one potty run, but the numbness was not as bad. I took off all my rings last night, didn't have any alcohol so I wonder if any or all of that helped. My hands were pretty bad but not near as painful when I woke up at 6:00. It is 11 degrees here today. Dupposed to be like that all week with highs only in the 20's. Calling for 4" of snow on Thursday. I'm dreading it already.

Toni, I am forgoing my wine until the weekend and then it will drastically be less than normal. We have been drinking pomagranate-green tea at night. My DH has found a great bf food. He has mixed bleberries, blackberries, strawberries and raspberries together and adds them to low fat vanilla yogurt. I don't care for reaspberries or blackberries, but I admit I love this breakfast. About an hour later, I eat a hardboiled egg and then a banana a hour or so later. I am trying to eat every 2-3 hours to see how that works. I had some almonds yesterday too, they seemed to take the edge off.

Crystle, good foryou getting out there walking. We actually burn more calories walking in the cold so there you go. We are having oven fried chicken tonight.

Mercee, any weigh in day works for me as I typically weigh every morning anyway. I agree, we need to support each other more and join together. We can do this.

Scrappinhut, I'm right there with you on the 15lbs, if not more. I was trying to find something to wear today and everything I tried on I either looked like a fat man in a little coat or a can of popped bisquits. That should be motivation enough.

I actually went to the gym around 6:30 last night AFTER dinner. Usually I talk myself out of it if I don't go right after work. It was really crowded. I guess everyone's NY's resolutions to get to the gym. It will die off after a month or so. Brought my clothes so I will go either right after work or if the baby is at my house (DH gets him on Tuesdays since she has a staff meeting) then I will go after dinner.

Ellen, Bob and everyone else that is MIA, come on back here. We miss you.

Have a good legal day today.

01-05-2010, 11:35 AM
Morning ladies:

I am glad to see we are all revved up and ready to go. I had a good day yesterday and walked on my treadmill last night.

Scrappinhut- Those 15 lbs will be gone in no time.

Toni- You dinner sounds delicious, I am making chicken breast tonight.

Crystle- I think I will make my chicken breast with peppers and onions. (I love peppers and onions) Great job getting your walk in.

Solly- Glad you were able to sleep well last night. Good job making it to the gym. I think I will go out and buy a nice flavored tea. I only like to drink tea when it is cold outside.

Well it is freezing here. It will be in the teens all week with no warm-up expected for a week. BRRRR. I am excited about Biggest Loser starting tonight. Have a great day everyone!!

01-05-2010, 01:14 PM
Howdy ya'll. It is cold and I'm moving slow but I'm moving. :) Breakfast was broccoli, ham, swiss cheese scrambled eggs. I saw a diet tip yesterday that says adding cayenne to your breakfast meal helps you lose weight because you eat less later but I didn't add pepper this morning.

Here is the first of several email tips I have saved to share:

The Most Important Meal of the Day
Eat breakfast every morning. You've heard it's the most important meal of the day, and it is. Research indicates that women who eat cereal on a regular basis weigh nine pounds less than those who rarely eat cereal or don't eat breakfast at all. Eating breakfast provides the body with nourishment and prevents overeating throughout the rest of the day. Start the day off right by consuming a balanced, nutritious morning meal.

Err it won't let me change the color.

I'm also excited about BL tonight. There is also going to be an interview on ET about a past loser that weighs 400 pounds now. I'm interested on his views, but hope it doesn't disillusion me too much.

It is such a blessing to see each of ya'll here at the board. Last night I did have a minor slip with some tortilla chips and knew I was going to have to face ya'll this morning. :) It made a huge difference on the amount I ate. I truly believe it would have been double if I hadn't thought about ya'll.

Zach needs to get to his lesson so I'd better quite rambling.

God bless,

01-05-2010, 04:22 PM
CountryMom4Him - I am excited too!! I have last season saved on the DVR I have been watching it for inspiration.

My eating has been good today and I am about to head to the gym. Tomorrow morning I have a session with a personal trainer. I am scared of the pain she will bring but I guess it has to be done!! I am really trying to stay positive.

More to come...............

I hope everyone is having a great day!!

01-05-2010, 06:43 PM
Sitting here having a cup of green tea with a half of slice of peanut butter toast as my midday snack. Eating has been good today. Still need to get moving but just can't seem to yet. I will. Can't wait for the BL tonight. I've got a simple dinner for us tonight. Leftover vegetable beef soup.

Crystle- Your eating is wonderful. I love how you mix all the veggies with your meals. I especially like your breakfasts. So healthy and filling. You really are doing good.

Solly- Glad you had a better night last night. Hope the shot helps you. The weather is so cold here too. And we're supposed to get the snow tomorrow evening or night, then those awful lows. Brrr. Oh your breakfast sounds so good. Wish my DH would make something healthy. But he is eating what I am eating and starting to jump on the band wagon. Wow you're even going to the gym....

Mercee- Thats great you're doing good and even did the treadmill. Keep it up...

scrappinhut- Wow a personal trainer thats wonderful. Good job......

Well don't any body forget Biggest Loser tonight. And have a great OP evening.

01-06-2010, 11:16 AM
Good morning all,

I have a very busy and hectic day at work today so I can't stay on long. I am happy to report I am down 3lbs this week. It is really cold here and we are expecting 12 inches of snow between the next 2 days. Have a great day everyone. I will try to get back later.

01-06-2010, 11:36 AM
Crystle_ I made the chicken with the peppers and onions and BBq sauce. My family loved it. Have a great day.

01-06-2010, 01:34 PM
I changed my tracker to reflect my weightloss goals for 2010!!!!

01-06-2010, 01:45 PM
Oh darn I lost my other post. I lost 4 lbs this week. Yippee its working finally going in the right direction.

Mercee- Congradulations on the 3 lbs.

01-06-2010, 01:53 PM
Well, my first official weigh in of the new year is 191.6. I was really really hoping to see 190 or below but maybe next week. I'll just leave my ticker until then and if it doesn't go down I'll correct it.

I was SO sad when I thought the first two teams were going home without any help at all. I should have known it was a trick. :) My son walked in and asked me why I was crying and I told him I felt bad for those going home. I am such a goober.

Mercee..awesome. I'm so glad ya'll liked it. I'm almost out of agave to make my sauce with. Last night we just had a fend for yourself night and I ate the rest of the spaghetti squash with the bbq sauce on it. Congrats on your weight loss!!

Toni...Congratulations on a GREAT loss to start your new year. Stay warm.

Scrappinhut...too cool to have a personal trainer. I'm so out of shape I can't even do the wall sit for 30 seconds. I did do some wall push ups last night.

((Everybody)) You are worth the effort.

God bless,

01-06-2010, 03:16 PM
Good afternoon ladies, Brr it is cold here also. I guess we are getting Toni's snow tonight. I am so dreading it. I don't want anything to stope me from getting my shot. Knew I couldn't get 2 nights of sleep in a row. Up @ 3:30 and my hands are killing me. Did go to the gym last night. I am going tonight as I won't be able to go tomorrow due to the shot.
I loved BL last night. But I hated how the 2 couples got sent home immediately. I hate when they send anyone home. They are there b/c they need it and they all should be able to stay. I think they should have a smaller ranch down the street with other trainers they get to go to and not be on TV but able to stay and lose their weight. If we are weighing in today, I am down 9 lbs. Now don't get jealous, it is water as I take 3 diuretics a day and when I don't get them all in, I pick up water weight unbelievably fast. But at least I like the number on the scale much better.

Mercee, :cheer: WTG on your 3 lbs. I can't imagine how cold it is in Chicago and 12"of snow :fr:

Crystle, I am so happy that we detered you from eating all those chips. Baby steps! You did good. I know those 2 couples were going to get help, but I wish they could have been there at elast a week.

Scrappinhut, hope your training session was good. Mine never killed me, but at least I was sweating when I left there. I actually bought 8 sessions last week since they were running a special, but I am not starting them until I have been back to the gym a month and all the soreness worked out any after I have my foot checked out again.

Toni, Veggie soup sounds so good right now. We had some at a freinds last week and it was really good. Mine is just not great. Congrats on your 4 lbs. You are doing great!

I'm glad we all watch the BL. Maybe it will give us some added motivation. Better run, my hands are killing me and it is hard to type. I need to change my ticker also. Have a great night and stay OP. It's just DH & me for dinner so I didn't fix anything. WhenI asked him what he wanted to do he suggested frozen pizza. I told him, he could eat it but I wasn't. Guess I will settle for soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.

See you tomorrow

01-06-2010, 03:24 PM
I kept my original starting weight from 6 years ago as it helps me to see what I did in the past, but added a current year one afterwards.

01-06-2010, 07:06 PM
Oh boy Solly I can't wait till I get to 189. It will really show me I'm losing. I should have put my orginal weight on mine and maybe I will next time. It would make me feel a little better. Its starting to snow here. I'm dreading the cold thats coming behind it.

Crystle- I was so sad when those people were leaving BL last night. And happy they might get to come back. Especially the yellow couple.

01-06-2010, 09:12 PM
happy new year everyone,

wanted to get in on the weigh in wednesday, a whopping 210! but much better than the high of 265 from last year.....the best way for me to lose is sugarbusters and reading this board. i may not always post but i do take a lot of the support and advice to heart.

i am a big fan of the biggest loser, it will be interesting to see how this season goes, was sad to see the twins separated but glad to see how well james and his wife have done at home, he just might win the at home prize.

is there a place on this site with legal recipes? i am need of comfort, warm foods, i live in western cincinnati and this former florida girl is freezing!

thanks for all your help...

01-06-2010, 11:24 PM
Hi ladies,

I jusr wanted to check in since I had a really hectic day at work I just finished walking on my treadmill. I feel great because I have become consistent with it. My off days are Sunday and Tuesday. I feel really inspired and motivated since I started posting here again. You ladies rock. I really appreciate all the support here.

Toni- Congrats on your loss Great job!

Countrymom- I wish I weighed 191. I don't remeber the last time I was at that weight. I'm sure you will do just fine next week.

Solly- 9 lbs WOW!!! Congratulations! I hope your hands feel better after your shot. Kep up the good work.

Happynow- Congrats on getting to 210lbs what a great job.

Well I am getting tired now I think I will get ready and go to bed. I'm waiting for our big snowfall tonight and tommorrow. Have a great night all.

01-07-2010, 09:37 AM
The weather outside is frightful, but the snow is not delightful. O how I hate snow. I think it is beautiful, but I hate having to drive in it.

Toni, this is the year you WILL be getting to 189. I was just thinking last night that for us that has started fresh in Jan, it will take one month of good eating for us to really see results. So we must stay patient and stay on task to see results. Then we will be motivated to keep on going. We can do this.

Chris, Congratulations on being at 210. You will be out of the 200's in no time. Stay warm.

Mercee, I don't know how you deal with all that snow in Choago and the cold temps. I guess you all are better equipped to deal with it than we are. we had a dusting at 7:00 and traffic was at a snails pace.

Better get going, we have a bid today and it will be hectic. I just hope the snow is cleared so I can get my shot this afternoon or I will have to have him come by my house on the way home and give it to me.

Have agreat OP day

01-07-2010, 10:29 AM
Good Morning All,

The Biggest Loser was great. To me it is seeing all my fears in front on me. I know that I could be one of them if I don't take and stay in control of myself.

The training session went well. I am going to see her once a month. She gave me a a routine to do and I will rotate it with my cardio til our next session.

Been very good about reading my labels and serving sizes.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

BTW First Wed. weigh in was 164.

01-07-2010, 02:08 PM
I'm with Solly if you have to be out in the snow I hate it. And we have to go out tomorrow so I'm hopeing this goes away. But of course its so cold out it won't. Luckily the snow plow went down our hill this morning. Eating has been good. I watched the show called Food Inc. and it sure made me aware of how much corn is in our food. Why America is so fat.

Solly- I hope you can drive to get your shot this evening. Be careful out on those roads. I agree with you that it will take a month to be able to see any progress. Finally working toward it is a relief.

scrappinhut- Good going on the workout. Keep up the good work. I really liked the Biggest Loser Tues. night too.

Well need to go get something to eat. Might be a bowl of cherrios.

01-07-2010, 02:28 PM
Hey, ladies! Happy New Year!

I'm sorry I've been AWOL. Been mostly on plan but my blood sugars were getting worse. The insulin helped but it packed 10 LBS OF FAT in my gut in less than 2 months so I'm OFF. Dr. started me back on a very low dose of meds again to help the SB along but I'm a little discouraged. Oh, well, have to do what I have to do. I'm getting therapy for a week before I start to do Wii fit again. Wish me luck.

Wow! Everybody here is doing so great!!! Congratulations to you all! How inspiring you all are!

Solly, 9 lbs! Water or not, I'd take it and run! I'm sure there's more than a little fat missing, too! :) I hope your hands feel better soon. Is it rheumatoid?

Scrappinhut, welcome to your new beginning! Enjoy the ride - you'll do great!

Toni! Mercee! What fantabulous losses! Awesome!! And right after the holidays, too - you rock!

Crystle, congrats on being under 200 - 190 will come and go really soon with your good eating habits! Hey, can you tell me how you make your BBQ sauce? I just bought some agave and I have pork that I wanted to crock pot with BBQ sauce but they're so high in sugar. I'd really appreciate it!

Hope to see some of the quiet ones around here again soon. I tend to lurk a lot when I'm busy, but I read up on everybody every day. So keep it coming!!

Have a great day,

Talk about road blocks. Yesterday I was hit with a barrage of goodies both at my daughter's and mother's house. God was with me and I was able to pass on them for the most part. I did have a nibble here and a nibble there but considering I didn't get to eat until about 4:30 I'm pleased. :) Tonight I'm making unrolled cabbage rolls for dinner. Basically ground beef, onions, rotel, tomato sauce and shredded cabbage cooked until tender. I'm too lazy to roll the cabbage and this way you get WAY more cabbage than meat.

Daily Email Tip:

Beware: Don't Eat From The Bag
Don't eat from a bowl or bag. It's one of the fastest ways to deviate from your plan. Sitting down with a bag of chips or box of cookies encourages mindless eating. You're more likely to keep going and going. Before you realize it, you've consumed four servings and far too many calories. Set aside one serving size and seal your snack of choice until next time.
More Tips

NurseDee..sorry to hear that your sugars are giving you fits but I know as you continue OP they will get better. ((hugzz)) I made my BBQ sauce with ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire, Tabasco, garlic powder and agave. I don't use exact amounts but I do add them in the order above as to which one there is more of. I hope that makes sense.

Toni...I haven't seen that but it sounds interesting. When we were growing up mama would always tell us that farmers feed pigs corn to make them fat so go easy on the cornbread. :)

Solly...praying for good weather so you can get your hand taken care of. ((hugzz))

Mercee...thanks for the encouragement. Too cool that you have a treadmill. I've tried to talk hubby into getting another. I had one once and walked on it until I killed the motor. You would think that would prove to him I would use the new one. :)

Scrappin' awesome on reading labels. That is so important. Many times something will look healthy and it has hidden ingredients.

Ellen...sure miss hearing from you.

Bob...missing you too.

Just had Italian sausage and spaghetti for dinner. I think I had to much meat. And I should have had a salad. Next time I will. Its taking a while to eat the right combo of foods. I need to start dinner earlier so I'm not starving when dinner time is here.

Crystle- Thanks for the tips. I love cabbage rolls but yours sounds so good. I need to get the stuff and make yours.

NurseDee- Good to see you back again. Sorry about your BS. Hope they get better soon.

Everyone stay warm. Its so dang cold here.

01-08-2010, 12:01 AM
Long Day!! I thought working out and getting in shape was supposed to make you feel better. But I have been in pain all day. My legs are killing me! And the worst part is I hardly did anything.

NurseDee: I hope you get everything straight soon. I know how discouriging these road blocks can be.

CountryMom4Him: Great Job on staying away from the snack at your moms & daughters!!

Everyone's recipes sound so interesting. Do ya'll have a place that ya'll post them?

"Before a meal, slowly, piece by piece, eat a sliced apple or an orange so you're not starving when you sit down to eat..."

I got this tip from Never Say Diet this morning and thought it was a good one to pass along. Thanks to Crystle who started with "tips" I think anytime anyone has something that will help us, it is worth posting.

Luckily I got my shot and it has helped some. My arms did not go numb last night and my hands were not as bad. They are still numb this morning but not to the point I feel like they are exploxind. It is hard to type with my right hand, as I have no feeling in my finger tips. I'm hoping it improves in the next day or so.

We had baked cod & brown rice along with a salad last night and it was sure good. I even passed on the tarter sauce. Scale was up yesterday, but back down to the same 189 today. I actually feel like I can have a legal weekend. We will go to happy hour tonight but I plan on either 1 glass of wine or a 64 calorie beer. We have a birthday party to go to on Sunday, but she usually has chili so that won't be too bad and I will definately not have cake. I will watch my portions and keep you all in mind.

Nursedee, I'm sorry about your BS. Remember the more you stay on this plan, the better your numbers will get. This is your health you are talking about and you are important, so think about you first. My problems are a mixture. I have 3 herniated discs in my nexk and 3 in my lower back. I have been so long without an epidural (due to our stupid insurance) it just kept getting worse. I think the RA plays a part also as my hands hurt and are swollen. I'm just a walking mess. Funny thing is, I'm one that doesn't believe in being sick. I never miss work or anything b/c I am sick. So I don't know why i have to have all these problems. Just my cross to bear I guess. It could be a lot worse I'm sure. I think you are the one that uses Truvia? If so, is it any good? I like Splenda but heard Truvia is better for you.

Cyrstle, good tip. I know buring Christmas I sat down with a bag of potato chips and before I knew it I had eaten almost the whole bag. I was embarrassed and hurridly put them away. The rest of the bag is still in my pantry and everytime I open it I want them, but then I am proud that I can pass them up. I hope Dh eats them soon though. ha-ha. Do tell how to make the cabbage rolls. I love all those ingredients so I would probably like tem. Do you shred the cabbage and cook it and then add it to the beeff mixture? Good job on just having nibbles. Nibbles are ok, they keep you from binging. This is a way of Life, not a diet and those things come your way sometimes. So as long as theys tay nibbles, you are fine.

Scrappinhut, glad your trainer did not kill you. It will take a day or two to work out the soreness. My DD says that the first 5 minutes of cardio machines is the worse. Once you pass the 5 minute mark, the pain goes away. I think I will do every 2 weeks when I start back. I was doing once a week. My problem with once a month is I forget how to do the exercises. What kind of a cardio plan did they give you? We used to have a recipe board when we were onthe other site, but not sure if we got to keep them or not. Maybe one of the others will know.

Toni, be careful going out tomorrow. It sure is cold here. Of course corn is one of my favorite things and anything made from it especially cornbread. We got about 3" of snow, how about you?

Might get to check back later. Off to log in my food. Have a great weekend and everyone report on

01-08-2010, 10:11 AM
I just got this tip and thought it was a good one.

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” – Albert Einstein. If you truly want to shape up, you have to change your life.

01-08-2010, 10:44 AM
Me again, I got another good tip I thought I would share.

Now that the holidays are over, start to leave a few bites on your plate at every meal. Science now proves that our stomach's capacity actually shrinks when you start eating less, meaning you can train yourself to feel fuller by eating less over time. All it takes is leaving three to five bites on your plate every time you eat. It all adds up, and you might feel more energized instead of stuffed and bloated at the end of your meal.

Funny thing about this one is a co-worker does this every day. No matter what it is she eats, she leaves at least one bite on her plate. She is very slim. Interesting.

01-08-2010, 01:59 PM
Boy is it cold. :) We knew the cold was coming but you can't really prepare physically for the sudden drop. My pipes are frozen. I'm hoping they defrost later today but my guess is more like tomorrow. Good thing is we keep water on hand for hurricane season and it is coming in handy. I'm so glad that freezing temps aren't a major part of our winter.

Solly...I'm so glad you are feeling better. Loved the tips this morning. The cabbage is really easy. I just cook the onions, throw in the meat. Once it is brown I throw in the shredded cabbage and then the other ingredients cook until tender. I ate way too much but it was so good. I cooked a pound and a half of hamburger and two heads of cabbage. There was just enough left for lunch today. :)

Scappinhut...hope those legs feel better soon.

Toni..I agree with you about not being too hungry at dinner. I've found if I have my snack close to the time I cook I sample less and eat less at dinner. Except for the cabbage. I tasted plenty and ate plenty. :)

NurseDee...hope you are having a better day today.

Well we were going to go out today for our anniversary but its just to cold. Also there's lots of snow on the ground and car. So guess it will be a stay at home day. I like being nice and toasty. Had oatmeal for breakfast. And eating has been good.

scrappinhut- I guess it will take a while to get the soreness out. Keep up the good work. I don't know where all our good recipes went to.

Solly- I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. I had two glasses of wine on Wed. night. I'm hopeing that will go all right with my healthy eating plan. We'll see when I get on the scale next Wed. Thanks for the tips. They're good ones. The cod sounds good along with the brown rice.

Crystle- Sorry about your pipes. We're keeping the water dripping in the kitchen and bathroom to keep ours from freezing. I think I need to get some apples to eat before dinner so I will feel fuller.

01-08-2010, 06:04 PM
Solly - I love that tip!!!

If anyone finds the recipes post please let me know.

It is so cold here!! We are just not used to this. I hope everyone is doing good today.

01-08-2010, 08:23 PM
Howdy ya'll. Just finished a bowl of piping hot chili. That wouldn't have been bad if I hadn't of had saltines with it. It just taste so much better that way. :) I basically didn't eat until dinner so I think it will be okay. I don't recommend skipping meals it just works out that way sometimes.

Scrappinhut...I completely understand about the cold. We hit freezing yesterday and won't hit above freezing until tomorrow. Not common for my part of Texas at all.

Toni...sorry it was too cold to get out. I hope ya'll have a lovely time together at home. Happy Anniversary.

Just had veggie soup for dinner, will probably have some fruit in a bit. Eating has been good.

Crystle- We're not perfect so we can't expect to eat perfect. You're doing good. And you want to eat how you're going to eat when you are done losing weight. Making it a lifestyle.

scrappinhut- Its weird cold here too. Brrrr. I've got a blanket over me because there seems to be a chill in the air in the house.

01-09-2010, 11:57 AM
Morning Ladies!!

I have been busy but I have been OP and working out. I shoveled my driveway for exercise and walked on the treadmill Thursday. Friday I just shoveled the drive way again. I.m getting ready to start my wash and Saturday cleaning. I will walk on my treadmill today.

NurseDee- I just want to say stay with SugarBusters you will see the difference in the long run. I have diabetes also and it has made a difference in my life. I take Metformin. Some years back I was doing sugarbusters and excersing like I really need to and I was off Meds for 2 years. It was me who got sloppy again. I know how hard it is to continue to watch what you eat but with diabetes we have to. You can do this. I am wishing you the best,

Solly- I am glad you got your shot and thanks for sharing tips with us.

Crystle- Thanks for the tips and sharing your recipes.

Scrappinhut- You weather sounds like our in the windy city. I can only imagine how you feel (Especially when you are not use to it). Stay warm.

Toni- Happy Anniversary. Hope you get to go out later this weekend and celebrate.

Well it is cold here and I plan to stay in today. Have a great day everyone.

01-09-2010, 12:00 PM
I am making turkey chili for dinner tonight.

01-09-2010, 03:13 PM
Pipes are still frozen but it is a little over freezing outside so maybe just maybe it will stay warm enough long enough for them to defrost. :) If not that is okay we'll continue to carry water to the house and go visit someone with a shower...LOL

We all know this diet tip but it is an excellent reminder.

Fast Facts: Time-Saving Diet Tips
Pre-package your foods. Make your healthy eating regimen convenient. Set aside some time during the week to cut up fresh vegetables and fruits. Cut up celery, carrots, apples, strawberries, grapes and other diet-friendly snacks and place them in individual bags. When you're pressed for time, all you need to do is reach in the refrigerator and grab one of the ready-made portions.

When I'm foraging at night this tip would really come in handy. There are less prepared foods in the house so less handy snacks. Packaging some of them for that last snack of the day would be very helpful. My ultimate goal is to not eat after 8 o'clock. We stay up until about 2 so I give myself that extra hour to stop eating. It worked really well the first time around. Now to just get the right mind set and brake some bad habits.

Mercee...I've heard shoveling snow is very good exercise. Plus with you walking you are doing GREAT.

Toni..thanks for the reminder. You are so right. In the long term I will not ever not eat a few saltines. I just need to have good self control and balance.

((Everybody)) Remember each of you is a gem and a blessing. You are the best you there is.

God bless,

01-09-2010, 03:37 PM
Happy Saturday all. Hope we all get to stay in and keep warm. Its just to cold to get out there in this. I just had a nice bowl of oatmeal for breakfast/lunch. I had such a hard time wanting something last night. It was to late for anything but I couldn't tell my body that. I was glad to make it through without giving in.

Mercee- Whoa shoveling that drive way would indeed be exercise. You sound like a busy beaver. I need to be thinking about doing some laundry. You're doing super on the treadmill.

Crystle-We stay up late too. But our downfall is we sleep in late. I would like to get up and get around a little earlier. That was a good tip. I need to get me some snacks packaged up and washed ready to eat. I'm getting where I hate to cook more and more. I need stuff I can grab.

Thinking of having polish sausage with sauerkraut, brown rice and broccoli for dinner.

01-09-2010, 04:17 PM
Sounds like everyone is cold. Bombed out last night and had pizza and cake but back on track today!! Not gonna beat myself up!! I can't be perfect all the time.

CountryMom4Him: Chili sounds soooo good!! And sorry about the pipes!

Toni48: Happy Anniversary!!

Had Crawfish Ettoufee w/ Brown rice for lunch. Yum!!

Movie night with Hubby tonight. Have to relax! The kids have been a handful lately.

Stay warm and toasty everyone!!

01-09-2010, 04:52 PM
Happy Saturday, Ladies!

The board is busy and that is so good for me. It's great to see everybody here.

It takes more explanation than I have time for but I have made some changes in my patterns and activity and it looks like it's paying off. I don't know if it's that or that I started Metformin again on Wednesday but I got weighed today (my usual w/i day) and I'm down 5.5 lbs! You could have knocked me over with a feather. I'm now off my bp diuretic (2 days now) and my bp is normal. I was sure I'd have water weight but I guess the changes are taking care of it! I'll try to clue you in soon. I am OP though, doing pretty well. I think having my almonds in the afternoon really helps. I'm hopeful again :) :) :)

Mercee - yes, it sounds like we have something in common with our diabetes. I was able to get off meds in 2007. It was a relief. I was on Metformin, too - it made me so physically ill for 4 straight years that I was in pretty bad shape. Now I have a better understanding of the pharmacological mechanism of the drug, and all of the problems I was having were likely caused by my high-glycemic carb consumption while I was taking it. So far, doing metformin and SB has not been a problem and it may just be the magic cocktail! I certainly hope so. I, too, have gotten very lazy about my diabetes and thankfully I think we've caught it before major damage took over. My A1c went from 6.2 up to 6.9 and I started to get scared that I'd completely lose control again. I'm so glad SB came along!

Scrappinhut - I'm jealous of your physical determination!! I have so many pounds to lug around still that it's too much to be too active yet. You keep going as great as you are!! You are awesome and your payoffs will be great!! Don't worry about the blip on the radar. Life happens. I just hope you enjoyed it! How on earth did you get crawfish ettoufee? Did you make it?? If so I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear how you did it. I love crawfish but I've never had the gumption to make it at home. Happy movie night with the DH!

Solly - I'm so sorry for your myriad of health problems. Pain is the WORST. I'm glad that the cortisone gave you some relief. Of course, losing the weight will lessen *some* of the pressure on your disks and that can only help. Yes, I use truvia and I really like it - especially because it's natural and I think maybe the fact that Splenda isn't might have something to do with weight gain. I know I held a lot of water when I used a lot of it. There have been some studies that show people who consume a lot of artificial sweeteners (and for SURE Aspartame) can often gain weight even if they reduce their caloric intake! Sounds like a self-assured business, huh? Anyway, because I'm a nurse I have lots of truvia sample packs that have a 75 cent coupon in them. If anybody here would like to try it, send me a private message with your address and I'll send you a 2-pack sample. It's very sweet, but it's granular like sugar and I think it's a more natural taste - but don't use too much or you will not like it. Half a packet is like a tsp of sugar. See what you think! I love your suggestion about leaving bites on the plate. I think it may be true. The only one in our family who does that is my 8yo and she's beanpole thin - the rest of us don't and aren't! I just don't have the courage to try it yet but I will work on that one.

Forget about a small snack before we cook, Crystle - I need to have one before I sit down to this board and read your recipes!! They make me so hungry! I want to try the cabbage dish for dinner tomorrow night. Sounds scrumptuous!! Thanks also for the great hints and suggestions.

Toni - belated happy anniversary! Hope you're staying warm. It's 19 here right now! We had a couple of inches of snow yesterday and it's so cold and dry it squeaks when you walk on it. (I always liked that. :) ) A skier's dream.

I hope if others are lurking you'll say howdy. I haven't even met you yet, Bob. :) And Ellen, I'd love to hear from you, too - and everybody else out there! Hope it's a good day. Keep the water flowin' and stay warm!

01-09-2010, 06:30 PM
NurseDee: Congrats on the 5.5 Pounds!! That is so awesome!! And as for the Crawfish Ettoufee, it was in the freezer from the 2009 Crawfish Season. Which thankfully is fast approaching here!! So exciting, Having crawfish boils with all our friends is one of my favorite pastimes and boiled crawfish is healthy and so so yummy!!! My hubby is the cook! I can try to get his recipe for you.

01-09-2010, 07:18 PM
NurseDee- Congrats on you weight loss 5.5 LBS that is great. Keep up the good work.

01-09-2010, 10:30 PM
Just finished dinner. It was sure good.

NurseDee- Congrads on the 5.5 thats a big loss. You're doing so good.

scrappinhut- Oh boy those boils sound like fun and a pretty healthy way to eat.

Mercee- Hi gal....

01-09-2010, 11:17 PM
Scrappinhut - I've loved Cajun ever since Justin Wilson. I don't know if we can even get crawfish here in NY. Do you think shrimp would come close? Do you do a roux with that, and is there a SB friendly way to handle that?

We had to do a lot of shopping tonight so we opted for Subway for dinner so that we wouldn't gorge when we got home late. I got a roast beef and cheddar salad with chipotle dressing, no croutons. The chipotele only had 1g of carbs and 0g sugars - even though it was pretty high in fat. Do you think that was an OK way to go? I'm still getting used to this WOE. I also had a sweet tooth. At least I didn't get a 3 Musketeers bar, but I did get an Atkins bar (180 calories, 19g carbs, 8g fiber, 1g sugars - 9g sugar alcohols) and ended up eating a second bar, a Met-Rx Protein Plus bar, 19g carbs, 1g fiber, 1g sugars, 16g sugar alcohols. I know that was not a good choice, but I tried to avoid greater sins, IYKWIM. I'm trying to read every label and pick the one with the lowest sugars and hopefully a decent amount of fiber. I guess I'll have to see how it all affected my blood sugar in the morning. Do any of you eat low carb/low sugar bars, and in your opinion, is it suitable for SB WOE? Overall my calorie count was decent today; I could have eaten far more veggies and some fruit. I ate mostly meats and cheeses until I got to the salad at Subway - and even then it had meat and cheese in it! Guess it must be the weather...!

Toni, you're making me want to make up a big pot of soup. My trouble is I always want to bake homemade bread and slather it with butter. Do you have anything in its place, or just stick with the bowl of soup? I need retraining.

It's down to 13 degrees right now - I think a nice down comforter snuggled up with my kids sounds good right about now.!! Take care, everybody.

01-10-2010, 02:30 AM
NurseDee: Just a heads up! I know everyone is different but I was steadily losing weight until I started eating the Atkins bars. I realized about a month later that I was frustrated b/c I stopped losing weight for what I thought was no reason. Come to find out that my system could not process the sugar alcohols at all and when I stopped eating them I started losing again.

I have a major sweet tooth. I love to make sugar free jello and sometimes I put a scoop of sugar free whip cream on top. But I try not to eat it more than a couple times a week.

I don't know if this helps or not.

01-10-2010, 02:44 AM
Just checking to see it my weight lose tracker is working!

01-10-2010, 04:29 PM
I'm so mad at myself I had to much wine last night. Ate good but ruined my good work. I have got to get passed this. Tonight is chicken breasts, leftover rice and something green. LOL...

NurseDee- Stay warm. Its 27 here today and the sun is out.

scrappinhut-The jello sounds good. My DH was asking about it the other day.

Well think I'll take a little nap.

01-10-2010, 06:11 PM
Scrappinhut - absolutely thanks for the heads up! I appreciate the warning. I don't think I'll be buying more of these after this box. Definite trigger food! Serious abuse potential here. I think they put heroin in them. :) Your tracker looks great!

Toni, don't beat yourself up too much about that wine. I'll bet it did little if any damage. Your food choices are so great. Hang in there and keep up the great work.

Now I need to hide the Atkins box. :( Thank goodness there were only 5 in there.

I think I'm going to make Crystle's cabbage dish tonight. Been thinking about it all day! It was 6 degrees this morning. It's warmed up to 22. A heat wave!

Take care, everyone.

Good morning ladies, it was a crazy weekend. my GS started projectile vomiting Friday night and they could not get him to stop so they took off for the emergency room. Finally got it under control and then Sat he started with a fever and diarreha. He is better but still has the diarreha and he looks pitiful. Hope no one else gets its. I'm feeling a little quesey this morning, but it comes and goes. I am proud of my eating this weekend. I did well and kept within my calories. I did have wine Sat & Sund, but stopped at 2 glasses. My eating was not perfect, but portions were good and overall it was good. I was surprised about a few things. DH suggested Diary Queen for breakfast Sundaya s we were going to the grocery after church. Well I knew that would end up being bisquits and gravy so I told him to go to Panera. I got the yogurt and fruit and half of a ww bagel. The yogurt was 310 calores. I could have had a sandwich with egg, ham and cheese for only 360 calories. Sat I ate morning start chicken nugets which are soy and one spinach bite (also Morning Star) and I had somehummas and some ww pita hips. My DH had a frozen pizza. The pizza was 350 calories for half a pizza and my lunch was way over 400. I guess the fat content was lower (I hope) and I know it was better for me, but man I was surprised.

Crystle, Sorry you have the innconvenience of frozen pipes. At leastyou have water handy. I don't think those saltines will hurt you. What's chili w/o them? Portion control is the key.

Toni, sorry you did not get to go our for your anniversary. Happy Anniversary. How many years? Try to stay warm. It is supposed to go up in the 40's Wed and the rest of the week. Glad your eating has been good. Try setting a limit on your wine. One glass or 2 and know that is all you can have. Maybe that will work.

Mercee, shoveling snow is great exercise. You are doing so great.

Scrappinhut, Youa re right, we are not perfect and things happen. But getting right back on track is the answer. I normally blow it up to about a week after I mess up. Good for you. What movie did you see?

Nursedee, I didn't use a lot of Splenda mainly on my cereal and sometimes in my tea. I couldn't find it at my grocery so I bought something I think is called Purvia. Not for sure, but I have not tried it yet. :cheer: Congrats on the 5 lbs loss. That is wonderful. Glad you have found what works for you. I sometimes eat the Kelloggs Fiber Plus Antioxidants bars. They only have 7 grams of sugars. I don;t eat them often, but in a pinch,

I have to get my foot exrayed today. I bet it is still not healed 100%. I am gong to be so mad. I just want to wear normal shoes again. Have a great day.

01-11-2010, 11:50 AM
Morning ladies:

Remember this is a lifestyle change and sometimes we will slip up. but the key is for all of us to keep going. Remember better health is our main concern.

I had a good weekend and I stayed OP. It is still cold here in Chicago(what's new) and I'm just glad it is not snowing. I have a busy day at work but at least I have dinner planned. Tonight I'm making chicken breast, brown rice and green beans. I hope everyone has a great day. I will try to get back later.

I really find myself being accountable since posting here again.

01-11-2010, 11:52 AM
Solly- I pray you GS will get better soon. Kids can look so pitiful when they are sick. I hope your x-ray shows healing in your foot.

01-11-2010, 12:53 PM
I love starting my day with you all. It is such a blessing to have someone to share this journey with. Eating was okay this weekend. I was a bit off yesterday but not calorie wise. We went to my mom's because we were still without water and in much need a warm bath. :) Her house is a minefield of goodies. Dinner was a burger no bun so I do okay there. :)

We still don't have water but I believe the guys should have all the pipes fixed today and we should be back up and running.

Today's tip really hits home for me:
Write Your Diet Wrongs: Here's How
Write exercise into your daily planner. Make an appointment with yourself. It's far too easy to forego exercise in favor of a night on the couch. Treat your workout as you would a business meeting or a visit to the doctor. Carve out a time for when you plan on exercising and stick to it. You wouldn't cancel out on an important get-together -- so why not treat a commitment to your health with the same respect?

Toni...hang in there. Too much wine one day you just watch what you eat very carefully for the next few days. No harm no foul. :) This is your year to shine. Remember it is the overall picture not one day or even on moment. When we look at one thing it can distract us. ((hugzz))

Scrappinhut...all this talk of crayfish and eutoufee reminds me of good times. My mama is cajun and we have family in Lake Charles and other parts of Louisiana. I hope to pass that part of my heritage to my children. Just a few minor changes and the food is legal. My very favorite is shrimp creole. My mom and I fight in a fun way over whose is best. Of course mine is..LOL And my children swear they can tell our gumbo apart even though she taught me how to make it. My heart is so full this morning thinking of these special times. :)

Mercee...I totally agree. It has to be the health. After battling eating disorders off and on most of life it is about time to just be healthy. I want to have good later years in my life so that is my ultimate goal about eating and moving better.

NurseDee...thanks for your kind words. If you try the cabbage I hope you like it as much as we do. Because we had five kiddos I learned a lot of tricks for cooking favorites in a slightly different way to make it go farther and prep time to be easier. I've heard the bars can trip up weight loss. And if you eat too many sweets even legal ones it can sometimes make it harder to stay legal because you still battle cravings. My sweet stompers are a cup of coffee with splenda or a sugar free hot cocoa. If the weather is warmer I also like strawberry smoothies. Worse case scenario I will indulge in some sf chocolate. Sometimes just a small bite will stop the craving. I like to keep it frozen so I really have to think about it before I go and grab a bite. Sometimes that is enough of a deterrent that the craving will pass before I cave in.

Solly...I am so sorry to hear about your grand son. I know it is heart breaking when they aren't feeling well. Little man has a runny nose that turned to a cough and then to wheezing. He had to have breathing treatments over the weekend. But he is doing fine. Just hard on his moma. She had hoped nursing would keep him from getting sick. :) Like the doctor told her. Just imagine if you weren't nursing. It's hard to believe he is almost three months old. You eating sounds really good. I think it is better to have a few extra calories of the right foods than less calories for food that isn't as beneficial. A good example is guacamole. A lot of people pass on it because of the calories but the avocado is so nutritious.

Zach needs to start his lesson so I guess I'd better get off of here and share the computer. :)

Hope ya'll have a blessed awesome day. I'll sneak back on later.

God bless,

Good morning, Ladies!

Good to see everybody here! I hope you're all having a great OP day.

Crystle, sorry to hear that you're still in the deep freeze. I had to trickle the water last night because it was the second night in a row where we dipped below 10 degrees. It's usually the second day that the well starts to freeze up. So far, the water's still runnin'. You have 5 littles? God bless you!! He only sent us two, but I'm so grateful for them both. I'd have loved to have more. My older daughter's godmother just had her 14th. She was expecting him when they went to their oldest son's wedding. :) Now the son and his wife are expecting so her son and her grandson will be the same age - :) Every one of them is industrious, working, accomplished and homeschooled. She is my inspiration. Do you HS, too? We do. We had the cabbage thing last night and MY GOSH IT WAS AWESOME!!!! It is gone. Even my daughter, who is vegetable-shy and hates cabbage raved about it. PLEASE keep these recipes coming. They're like a breath of fresh air in this house! :)

Solly, you made great food choices! That wasn't easy, especially when you figured out the calories. But you know that pizza crust has a high GI and would have done a great store-everything-to-fat trick if you had eaten it. Great accomplishment! Please let us know how your x-ray comes out. I know what you mean about the shoes. I was in a cast for about a year when I was young and fetching and it killed me to have to wear "sensible shoes". Now I wear ss's all the time. The days of suede high heels are looooooooooong gone. Hope everything is mending well. I, too, am sorry to hear about your GS. Even though I'm a nurse I get almost panic-stricken when one of mine gets sick. I would give anything to take their places. Fortunately, since they've been supplementing with Vitamin D they haven't been sick in years. I'm sure schooling them at home helps a lot, too. That in itself is worth the price of admission!

Mercee, you're doing so great! Being OP all weekend is no mean feat! Planning ahead is 9/10 of the battle. You're inspiring me. :)

I should have read all of these posts before I polished off the Atkins bars. :( - Oh well, the wicked witch is dead and they're all gone. Fortunately, my blood sugars are still doing well so perhaps I didn't do too much damage. I have some leftover roast pork tenderloin on the agenda for tonight. Any of you chefs have ideas of what I can do with it? So far all I can think of is pork and 3-bean chili. It's pretty good, but I wouldn't mind some additional inspiration. I'm having fun trying all of these new food ideas!

Have a great day, everybody, and keep strong!

Hello everyone. Getting ready to go make oatmeal. We've been having it allot lately. I got burnt out on eggs for some reason so am staying away from them for awhile except boiled eggs. Think I'll make some of those today for a snack. I've got to think of something for dinner. We need to grocery shop, I'm running out of everything. And I do want to try Crystals cabbage dish. Its so nice everyone is posting so well. It makes it so joyful to come here. Its such a happy time our son is home in Texas after his tour in Iraq. I thank God he's safe and pray for all the other soldiers.

Solly- I'm so sorry about your GS. Hope he is getting better each day. Thats so scary. DH and I have been married 22 years. Yes I don't know why I drank more than 2 glasses of wine. I'll really watch that from now on. Sounds like you're doing really well with your eating. It sounds so sensible and doable.

Crystle- Hope you get your pipes fixed today and have some good water pouring through those pipes. We're finally a little warmer today and suppose to be even warmer tomorrow. You're doing so well on your eating and yes I agree this is our year. I'm pleased with how the eating is going. I need to get in the freezer and get something out for dinner. We've been trying brown rice and love it.

Mercee- We had the same thing last night you're making tonight. The chicken breast, brown rice. Hope it turns out good.

NurseDee- You're such an inspiration. I love your posts. Keep up the good work.

01-11-2010, 04:25 PM

Now don't everyone lose their breath all at once!! BOB'S HERE!!

It's cold here...snowed day before yesterday...YES I SAID SNOW!!! It was 23 degrees this morning when I got up. It's been this way for over a week now. I hate to see my electric bill next month!

Still not working, but that's ok for now. Kate is doing really well. It was touch and go there for a while, but she's bouncing back to her old self and that's a good thing. I'm beginning to think we've been around each other for too long and we're getting on each others nerves.

Eating is horrible...I feel like the Good Year Blimp. I'll be working on that this year too. It's time to put the fat behind. Hopefully, I can get back in to the habit of getting on here and using your support daily!

I'll be back a little later.

01-11-2010, 04:45 PM
Woo hoo Bob is here. Good to see ya..... Glad Kate is getting better. Sorry she had a rough time. Come join us we miss you. This is our year Bob we can do it...

01-11-2010, 04:50 PM
Crystle- I forgot did you put anything in your cabbage except hamburger and onions? Sorry I couldn't find the post.

01-11-2010, 06:24 PM
Bob! The famous BOB!! I'm glad to see you at last! I've heard many good things about you. :D Put the fat stuff behind you and jump back in. I look forward to hearing more from you!

Toni, put also a can of tomato sauce and a can of rotel. I used a bag of cole slaw mix and let it cook till it was pretty limp. I also added black pepper to taste because I'm a glutton for the heat punishment. :) It's SO SIMPLE but SO TASTY. I put it over brown rice for the rest of my family but I'm trying to avoid rice, whole grains, and whole grain pasta till I lose more weight and my blood sugars get better. I truly didn't miss it! I will be making that delicious dish again very soon!

Hope everyone's having a great day!

01-11-2010, 06:47 PM
NurseDee- Oh yea I remember now. Thank you. Can't wait to try it.

01-11-2010, 08:11 PM
Talk about a mess. :) We'd get one pipe fixed and then find another one blown. All on the hot water side. Prayerfully in about 30 minutes when it's all dry it will be up and running. To top that off the sink refuses to drain and we can't find the clog so we are doing a temporary fix on that.

Bob...awesome to see you. ((hugzz)) Sorry bout the cold weather. I know it's a toot.

NurseDee...yes we HS. I've been teaching the children going on eleven years straight now. There were a few years off and on before that. Three are out of the house so it's just the two boys now. They have completely different learning styles but have found a way to adjust to the same curriculum. My oldest daughter attended a semester of college and found that she was able to acclimate. She is very social so wasn't always happy with the HS choice. :) I don't regret it for one minute. It wasn't always easy but God knew what he was doing when he changed my heart. I was very anti-home school. It's a good thing I'm not the one in charge. LOL

Toni...Hope you like the cabbage. Zachary does not like cabbage and that is the only way I've found that he likes it. He doesn't eat brussel sprouts either so I have to split them in half and caramelize them in olive oil. He will eat this minimum of three that way. :)

Gotta run.

Love and hugs,

01-11-2010, 09:46 PM
I know it seems like something little but I really really want some saltines. They for some reason are a comfort food for me. I told my youngest earlier that I could just eat four and said no they are not legal for me. He said, "How about three" and gave me a chuckle. I really don't want to cave because I believe one cave leads to another cave and then another cave. There are a gazillion reasons I can think of to go off plan just ONE time. :) I hope by sharing my struggle this evening it might help some one going through the same thing. And the selfish side of me hopes being accountable will keep me out of them. Oh and some super news...I have HOT water..LOL I feel like the most blessed woman in the world.

((Everybody)) Hope you are having a good evening.

God bless,

01-11-2010, 11:43 PM
Get your mitts out of them crackers.....

01-12-2010, 12:15 AM
Hope you made it, Crystle. That's EXACTLY what I said with the Atkins bars. And the next one. And the next one. And the next one. All the way through 1 single bar and 2 5-packs!!! It isn't worth it. It truly isn't. Being victorious over it is SO much more delicious. Is it the salt you're craving or the hi-gly comfort of crackers and mashed potatoes and potato bread toast with half a cube of butter on it? That kind of craving is irreplaceable as far as I know. I think the comfort comes from the stupification that comes from rising blood sugars...:sigh:

I don't have an answer for you but I do think you need to go give your youngest a nice smooch on the head. "Out of the mouths of babes", yes? :)

Hang in tihere. Nobody said it'd be easy, but it's soooooooooo worth it! Congrats on the hot water! We have so many blessings and don't miss 'em till they're taken away.

Have a good night and I hope to see everybody tomorrow!

01-12-2010, 12:18 AM

GREAT JOB coming here first!!! :bravo:

01-12-2010, 10:26 AM
It's been a busy one for me. I feel like I have worked a whole day and it's just 8:30. When I got home fro the gym, my DD called and said she thought she had the virsus could I take the baby. So off we go to get him. He is much better and I loved spending my time with him. He awoke as I was getting inthe shower. I turned on his mobile until I could finish. I peeked in and when he saw me he just brok out in the biggest grin. What a great way to start your day. it just melted my heart. So I fed him and he sat in his chair while I got ready. I tried to get him to sleep before I left, but he wanted no part of that so my other DD had to get up with him. She will keep him all day instead of sending him to the sitter. I just hope this thing doesn't spread through the whole family.
Just finished my yogurt and berries with a tad bit of granola. It was so good. I must try that cabbage roll recipe. It sound delish. My foot is not healed. He thinks 3-4 more weeks, but I bet it will be longer. He had to dig some blood out of my heal on the other foot. He said it was from cracked skin. I just had a pedicure 3 weeks ago and I try to keep vaseline on them with socks. Guess I had better spend a little more grooming time.

Mercee, I'm happy this board is helping you. I think it is a good thing too. Thanks for your wishes for my GS. I think he is much better but now my DD has it.

Crystle, we like starting the morning with you also. You are like our sunshine in our day. I'm sorry our little one was sick also. It is hard especially for first time parents. I think they went into panic mode, but I couldn't remember what to do it had been so long. I liked your point of view about looking at the whole picture. I think I do look at one time or one mistake more than I should. I love your tips. I haven't gotten any good ones this week. It is supposed to warm up here tomorrow so would imagine you will be getting some warmer temps too.

Nurse Dee, 14 kids! Is she still sane? I can't imagine in this day and age. She is truly blessed. I was very happy with my two girls. My foot is not healed, he says 3-4 weeks, but I know it will be more just sine it has taken so long. Maybe by summer I will be able to wear normal shoes. What size tomato sauce did you use in the cabbage. I love the idea of using slaw mix.
We need you make your saying in your last post our motto of this board. Nobody said it'd be easy, but it's soooooooooo worth it!
Toni, I have been wanting oatmeal for a week now. Seems like I either run out of time or something else comes along. Maybe tomorrow. 22 years is a great accomplishment. Congrats.

Bob, I fainted. Glad Kate is doing so well. Yes you need to get back on here and post more. It will help. We have a good group again and you will gain support from it. Are you coming back. You always say you are and you never do.

01-12-2010, 12:02 PM
Morning Ladies:

Wow so much is going here since I posted yesterday.

Crystle: I am so glad you have hot water! Hope you made it without the crackers if not just pick yourself up and keep going.

Bob- Glad to know you are doing well. I'm sure you are shell shocked with the weather. I heard on the news this morning how people who usually come to Florida for the winter are shocked. LOL I hope the weather gets better for you soon.

Toni- I hope you enjoyed the cabbage yesterday. Let me know.

Solly-Hope your DD gets better soon. I'm glad you enjoyed you GS.

I'm glad tonight Biggest Loser is coming on, so far my favs are the green team and the white team. I usually watch it before the weekend I DVR it.

Well ladies I gotta go know. Have wonderful day.

01-12-2010, 12:03 PM
Scrappinhut _ Where are YOU!!

01-12-2010, 12:06 PM
Morning NurseDee _ I didn't mean to leave you out. Have a great day. I'll check in later.

01-12-2010, 12:53 PM
I can't tell ya'll what a blessing you truly are. I felt a little silly posting about my cravings last night. But ya'll made me feel like I was talking to a good friend and it really helped me past the cravings. I can't wait until the kids eat them and they are out of the house. There is praise music playing on my computer. It is an amazing 51 degrees right now. :) The sun is shining and the world just feels right. ..

Diet Tip from email:

The Danger of Diet Sodas
Eliminate soda. These sugar-loaded, caffeinated beverages have no nutritional value whatsoever. A 12-ounce can of cola contains 144 calories. If you consume at least three sodas a day, that's a total of 432 calories. Even diet sodas are dangerous. Although they boast 0 calories, a recent study showed that people who consumed diet pop had a higher risk of becoming obese.

It won't let me change colors again today..err :)

Solly...I think it is so cool that you are able to help your daughter with the baby so she can focus on getting well. We are going to pray and believe that foot is going to be well in 3 to 4 weeks like the doctors said. :) You've had to put up with it long enough. ((hugss)) have such a beautiful spirit. ((hugzz))

Toni...You made me laugh so hard last night when I read your post. I kept the mitts out of the crackers thanks to some smiles and some encouragment from ya'll. ((hugzz))

NurseDee...isn't it good to have the triggers out of the house. No more bars to tempt you. :)) When you posted about the potato bread I forgot about the crackers for one second and was glad I didn't have potato bread..LOL I need to get some wheat out of the freezer so I can't grind it. At least then I could splurge on some legal healthier bread. On the today show this moring they said that postmenopausal women who ate 11 servings of whole grain a week cut health risks by one third. Another incentive to give up the white and go for the whole grain. ((hugzz))

Scrappinhut...((hugzz)) Hope you are having a good day.

Ellen...((hugzz)) I think of you often and hope you are doing well. It's not the same with out you here.

Bob...((hugzz)) Are you frozen? Looking forward to you posting more.

Each of you brings something to this board and to the lives around you. Be encouraged and enjoy the journey.

God bless,

01-12-2010, 01:23 PM
Just got 2 good tips especially since we were talking about eating off plan. I like the rewards idea. I was going to reward myself with a skinny latte from Starbucks once a week if I ate good all week. I did, but I can't seem to get there. Enjoy

Slip Up Plan
Mistakes are inevitable, but that one cookie doesn’t have to turn into an all-you-can-eat buffet. Create a plan with step by step instructions to prevent one incident from sabotaging your whole routine. Let’s say you ate one too many h'orderves at a friend’s gathering. If your plan says to wake up early the next day do yoga for 30 minutes then forget the guilt and stick to the plan.

Bribe and Reward
Health may be our number one priority, but a little something extra for not skipping a workout in three weeks doesn’t hurt. It’s silly to believe that wanting to be healthy will always overpower mom’s homemade lasagna, which is why rewards and bribes are key. Set weekly goals along with small rewards to stay on track, but try to avoid too many high-calorie rewards.

Okay...I closed my barber shop. It was taking too much of my time and not a great amount in return, so I'm now Hair On Wheels and go to houses to do hair. No overhead. Nice.

On the downside, having the shop took up just enough of my time so that my house is a shambles, I haven't been taking care of my self the way I should and ... I just really missed being at home, cleaning the house, getting things organized so that when the kids come home from school, I can concentrate on them. It's been nice so far. I really need this time to take care of myself and center myself again. I have just been feeling so out of control.

Also on the downside, since I started my shop, I have gained all of the weight I lost a few years back and then some. I jsut went to the doctor and I am at exactly 200lbs. I weighed 201lbs when I was in labor for Kyle and there ain't no baby in there this time for an excuse!! So, I have anohter appointment on March 15th and the doctor told me she wants 15lbs off by then.

She also said that Sugar Busters is a great plan and I should get back to it. So I am. Doctors orders.

so, back to my old routine of posting my menu:

Breakfast: skipped it in case I needed to have a blood test

Lunch: Yogurt mixed with strawberries in the food processor (yummy) and some carrots. Will add more when I can get to the grocery store to buy more legal fare.

Dinner: Haven't planned it yet...but will involve some meat and probably a salad.

Snack: an apple and some cheese.

No time for replies...I have to put away laundry and wash dishes, then go for a walk before the kids get home.

Also, on my digital cable, a friend told me about Exercise on Demand!! I found Jillian Michaels 30-day shred. I made it through most of it and only had to stop a couple times because I lost the use of my legs temporarily...very leg-intensive...

I'm hoping to be on here more often and regular like I used to.

Replies later!!

Techwife - Welcome Back! Don't beat yourself up just look at it as a new start. I'm wishing you the best and looking forward to getting to know you. Have a great day.

01-12-2010, 04:08 PM
Hi, Kris! Welcome back! I'm with Mercee - don't beat yourself up. It sounds like you are off to a terrific start. 15 lbs. in 3 months is do-able and the fact that your MD likes SB I like her already! :)

I'm Upstate NY and am a TechWife, too. I'm sorry about your business. Mine failed in 2008 and we're still trying to recover. Not easy. I know what you mean about the house - our house is 170 years old and it's NEVER clean. With my kids home all day it often seems to be an insurmountable battle. I remember Flylady once saying that women who have weight problems often have messy and disorganized houses and it often feeds the angst cycle that perpetuates overeating. I know how I feel when my environs are clean and neat. When I was single I used to vacuum myself out the door. Oh, everything smelled so good!! I haven't felt that in *many* pounds. OK, you've convinced me. I'm going to get my DD's ipod and attack the kitchen. Don't worry. I won't eat - just clean. Had a very filling lo-carb tortilla burrito with last night's pork & 3 bean chili. It'll hold me to a late dinner.

Thanks for the good thoughts, everybody - keep 'em coming and have a great OP day! I hope to catch up with everybody individually later but for now I'd better strike while the iron is hot...

01-12-2010, 07:36 PM
Good evening ya'll. Just got in from a walk. The weather was too perfect to make another excuse. It was a warm 64 degrees when I started out. The temps began to dip a bit toward the end but not too badly. Also did a little piddling in the yard today. The feed room was a disaster so it needed a little TLC. I don't usually mess out there but wanted to give Jess a little break.

Kris...howdy stranger. ((hugzz)) So good to have you back with us. Your wit and strength will only add to the board. I'm so glad that you have found a way to cut hair and still have your sanity. :) So sorry about the weight gain. You can see from my ticker same thing happened here. But this is a new day...right?

Solly...loved the tips.

This is gonna have to be a short one. Hey you clapping..LOL Time to start dinner.

God bless,

01-12-2010, 09:19 PM
Sorry I have been MIA!! I can't seem to catch up and then I got a cold.

CountryMom4Him: Iwas was so nice to hear of all your heart warming memories.

Solly: We watched All About Steve. It was so funny!!

Eating has been good. My DH made Shrimp Ettoffee for Dinner all week. He modified it a little for me. Using half a cup of flour and half a cup of stone ground whole wheat flour in the roux. Turned out amazing. Sunday Night I ate it over Broccli and Monday over Brown Rice.

Tonight I had scrambled eggs w/ spinach, cheese and salsa.

And I went to the gym again yesterday. The soreness has not set in yet but it will soon!! :)

I hope everyone is doing great!!
Till next time..........

01-12-2010, 10:40 PM
Scrappinhut! I was wondering about you too - I'm so glad to know that the news is all good. Way to go on the food choices and hitting the gym again. You do inspire me so! You're lucky I'm in NY or I would be stopping by for a cup of Ettoffee...;) I hope your cold clears up soon. My DH has been battling one for a week. It's a nasty one. You exercise with a cold? How determined you are!

Crystle, I don't blame you for taking that walk. It's "up" to 20 here and the wind is howling. I'll bet you had a glorious time!

Eating's been pretty good on this end. I just nibbled on almonds this morning because I was late. I had a burrito stuffed with last night's pork & 3 bean chili and cheese on a low-carb tortilla for lunch and I was pretty full all day after that. I finally settled for a small quesadilla with a bowl of cottage cheese & sf jello for dinner. Hit the spot. I guess the chili gave me some good veggies but I haven't had any fruit in a couple of days. My blood sugars are pretty good and I was 111 this morning - the lowest it's been in over a year. Encouraging!

I guess everybody's getting weighed tomorrow? I've been doing Saturdays but I guess I'll join y'all on the platform tomorrow and reset my weigh-in day. After such a big loss last week my body usually gains back a little in the week following, and this has only been 4 days, so I'm not expecting greatness. But I know I'm OP so I'll just settle for whatever fate deals me and keep on keepin' on.

Hope all's well with everybody! Enjoy the rest of your evening.

01-13-2010, 12:29 AM
Hello everyone. I'm so late getting on. I kind of stayed off the computer today because I had a bad night and wasn't feeling so hot. Hope tonight is better. We're going grocery shopping tomorrow, yippee. I'll be sure and get all the healthy stuff I need. Its finally going to be in the 40's tomorrow. Eating has been good. We had chili tonight for dinner. While we watched the Biggest Loser. The show hit home on so many points, I really enjoyed it.

NurseDee- That burrito sounded so good. I'm so hungry for some mexican food and I've got some whole grain tortilla's. I need to be making something. I'm worried about weigh in tomorrow since I had a good one last week I don't expect much.

scrappinhut- Its so nice your DH cooks such good meals for you. My guy is a good help in the kitchen but wouldn't even know how to cook something really complicated. Sorry about the cold hope its a mild one.

Crystle- Woopie for taking a walk. Thats so great. It would be so nice to get out and walk around but brrrr.... Thats amazing about the soda's. Thanks for the tip.

Mercee- Hope you had a great OP day.

Kris- Its so good to see you back. I missed your posts. Glad you found something with hair to do. I wish you lived around here. What a treat to have someone so qualified to come to your house. How are the kids?

Solly- Dang I can't believe your darn foot hasn't healed. How is the GS doing? Hope everyone gets well soon. Thanks for the tips I need all the help I can get. I'm doing good with eating and it sounds like you are too. That oatmeal is sure good on a cold morning. How'd you like Biggest Loser tonight? I always hate to see someone go.

01-13-2010, 10:52 AM
I sure don't know how women in their upper 50's have babies. I'm worn out. We still have the little guy. I had to pac him up for the sitter and make bottles. He messed everywhere and had to get another bath this morning at 5:30. I think he will be going home tonight. WIW has me at 185 today, that's 4 lbs down. I am happy with that. Gotta keep going downward. God luck to everyone.

Crystle, I am so glad you survived the crackers. We are here to help (along with your little guy). I am so jealous of 64 degrees. It was 18 here this morning, but on the bright side warming up to 40. Good job getting out there.

Tech:  so glad to see you back. What a smart doctor. Sorry you have gained yoru wt back, but you did it before and this is our year so come on! As you will see we are all biggest Loser fans here and Jillian rocks.

Nursedee, I remeber Flylady. Funny she was right about how empowered you felt once you put on your tennis shoes.

Scrappinhut, hope your cold is better. I love funny movies.

Toni, I didn't watchBL yet. We still had the baby and we were going to watchthe UK game at 9:00 so I will catch it tonight or soon. Hope you are feeling better today.

I knew BOB wouldn't be back. Have a great OP day.

01-13-2010, 11:16 AM
No time this morning but checking in and being accountable.

+2.5 lbs.

Lesson learned: AVOID ATKINS BARS.

On to the next round. Will check in later. Great day to all!

01-13-2010, 12:26 PM
Morning ladies:

I stayed the same as far as my wight, bu I am still encouraged to keep going. I have been OP with my eating. I also understand sometimes you don't lose weight every week. At least we have next week to look forward to.

Crystle- I love walking outside. I'm glad you were able to get out and enjoy the weather. WOW 64 degrees. We are warming up here it is suppose to be in the low 30"s. LOL I'm glad you got to piddle in the yard as well. I don't have a yard anymore it's all snow. Send some of your weather this way.

Scrappinhut-- Great job staying OP. Have fun at the gym tonight.

NuseDee- Your morning blood sugar is great Good Job. Don't worry about the weight it is probably water. I'm sure you did not eat (8750 calories worth of Atkins Bars). Keep going, we will have losses next week.

Toni- I hope you are feeling better today. Great job with your eating.

Solly- Congrats on your weight loss good job 4lbs. Keep it up. I hope you GS and DD are doing better. Having a baby in the house changes everything. I certainly could not handle a baby. It makes you wonder how we did it.

Have a great day all. Tonight I am back on the treadmill. I had to take 2 days off my leg was hurting. It feels fine now. Maybe I over did it.

01-13-2010, 01:32 PM
Just a quickie...I've been avoiding housework and am still in my bathrobe. It's frikken freezing in here today.

NurseDee...where in NY are you? And what does your husband to in the tech field? I'm in the 1000 Islands and my husband works for Rite Aid as a field tech, fixing their registers, photo machines and prescription pill counters. I was on FlyLady once upon a time, too. Great ideas, in fact, I think I heard about it on here from Ellen, but it takes time to get into a groove with her. I'm slowly picking away at my house. I can't wait to get to a place where I can paint!!

Quick menu posting:

Breakfast: Cheese omlette and coffee. I am FRESH out of good veggies and fruit. I sent Derek off today with a grocery list to shop at Walmart. Did I mention my transmission is gone on my Blazer I bought a few years ago? I'm reduced to the Radio Flyer for shopping...which I don't mind...but I lost my debit card and Derek has the only one and so...shucks...Derek has to do the shopping... :lol3:

Lunch: Something involving salad and maybe I'll do the thing with the vanilla yogurt and strawberries again.

Dinner: Probably chili with a salad...Derek will be home with the groceries by then.

OH! I just remembered I have a good sweet potato in the veggie bin I can cook for lunch! I'm trying...its hard when you're broke and have no wheels to shop.

Off to exercise!!! I can hear Jillian in my head and I better get to the TV before I slap her! I just have to make sure and wear a bra!!! :fr:

01-13-2010, 02:11 PM
Taking a break from Jillian because I realized I hadn't eaten lunch yet. Changed it to some Kashi cereal and an orange I found that wasn't in too bad of shape. Anyone know where I can buy a steel belted radial sports bra? Those jumping jacks are not boob friendly!

01-13-2010, 02:27 PM
I'm so glad I got to change my ticker this week down instead of up to match last week. :) My first loss of the new year is 3 pounds.

During my walk yesterday I took a peak at the garden and got a neat surprise. I think the swiss chard is going to rebound from the freeze. It looks a little wilted but I believe still edible. The carrots look wonderful. I pulled two of them and they actually made finger sized carrots. :) Not too sure about the beets but I believe they will be okay also. The mustard is iffy and the collards are gone.

Today's tip is pulled from one of my email devotionals but I think it's applicable to weight loss:

Every day do something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow.

It does not matter if you are taking baby steps as long as you are moving forward. Ask God to provide you with the willpower and discipline to find a small way to improve yourself today. Do it again tomorrow.

No time for replies today but each of you is on my heart and in my prayers.

God bless,

01-13-2010, 03:08 PM
Sorry to say I lost NO Weight last week. :( I am not happy!! The trainer did not seem to worried. I am really trying to not let it get me down.

My cold seems a bit better. I am trying to take it easy today..

NurseDee: I think you would be shocked if you did a few different excersices with a pair of 2 lbs weights. I know you can do it. Lift them over your head, out if front of you, put them by your side and lift up to work shoulders and so on. You can do it in front of the tv.

Solly: Congrats on the loss!! Amazing!!

Till Next Time.........

01-13-2010, 05:05 PM
Just peeking in. Tomorrow may be hectic,

NurseDee, I wouldn't worry about the gain, most likely water. Look at the big loss you will have next week.

Tech, Want to warm up? Get moving on the housework. I usually work up a sweat. The bra thingy was not a visual I wanted in my head :fr: I probably have the same troulbe with jumping jacks, plus one. I wet my pants :fr: I know TMI

Mercee, we are so obessessed with the scale we don't pat ourselves on the back for good eating and exercise. Good for you for noticing it. Get'em next week.

Crystle, Loved your tip. We all need to make even the smallest change daily, whether it be spiratual or eating. :cheer: WTG on the 3 lbs. Keep it up. Must have been that walk yesterday!

Scrappinhut, Don't fret over no loss. You will get it next week. I love your motivation.

Off to get my nails done on the way home. Think I will not go with DH tonight and stay home and watch the BL. Still can't kick this quesey feeling.

01-13-2010, 05:23 PM
Was at home feeling like crap. Then I decided I could feel just as bad at the gym on the treadmill. What the **** is happening to me???

01-13-2010, 06:49 PM
Are any of you on Facebook?

01-13-2010, 09:22 PM
Are any of you on Facebook?

Yup...which is why I'm not here as often as I used to be:

Kristine Burgess Tackitt

I'll be lookign for your friend request ;)

01-13-2010, 09:23 PM
Just popping in. Sorry I don't have time to post replies. I weighed today and stayed the same. I was a little disappointed I didn't lose but will have to see what happens next week. I did have a good weight loss the week before. We went grocery shopping today so I have lots of good food to eat. We bought a rotissare chicken for dinner so it worked out good.

01-13-2010, 11:27 PM
Techwife: I sent a friend request but I am not positive it was you. If it was not can you try me: jamie lungaro gaspard

01-14-2010, 10:42 AM
Good morning, We have a big bid going today. Most likely won't get this job either.

I have not been to the gym since Monday due to having the baby and not feeling quite up to par. I may try to make it tonight, but we normally clean on Thursday nights, so I need to do that first. It will e doubtful

Toni, don't despair. You will have a good loss next week. Hang in there. We have 2 weeks of good eating under our belts. Only 2 more to go and we should see some results in our clothes. Come on, we are doing this.

BF was a protein shake with strawberries. It will hold me for awhile and then I will have a snack. I have mixed berries for lunch and will either have soup or a salad. We eat on the fly on bid days. Dinner I think is going to be ww spaghetti and sauce with a salad.

Have a great day.

Tech, I am on FB also, don't know what I am doing on there. I will try to find you and scrappin, but in case, mine is Jackie Lenahan Graves. I never could find Ellen or Toni.

01-14-2010, 11:03 AM
Jackie, I found you on FB and sent you a friend request. jamie, I typed in your name and found some Jamie Lungaros, but not with the Gaspard. My profile pic is of my old english sheepdog...with a haircut looking in the window with snow on his nose. <3 If you find me, send me a request!

Jackie, I had to stop and think when you said, "After having the baby..." and then realized you must have been babysitting. LOL

Toni: I saw something on TV that said when you hit a plateau, it means your body is reacting to the weight loss, so you must be doing something right. I dunno...I think the scale dropping means I'm doing something right and plateaus are the devil's way of making us frustrated so we give up. Don't give up! Keep going! I'm so mad I gave up when I hit the plateau...I would still be in the 160's instead of the 200s!!!

Crystle: I'm surprised you aren't picking corn already! LOL You're gardening schedule is so far ahead of ours, way down there by Mexico! Up here next to Canada, we're lucky to have the tomatoes ripen before the first frost!!! LOL

Mercee: See my post to Toni. Stick to it and don't get frustrated!!

Dee: Personally, I'd avoid anything that said Atkins on it. LOL He wasn't exactly a great testement to his own diet. :( menu changed yesterday and went as follows:

Cheese omlette with coffee

Go lean crunch cereal with a banana and orange

cheeseburger pattie with melted meunster cheese and a large salad

Lite n fit yogurt with unsalted peanuts

Water tally:

4 large glasses

mushroom and cheese omlette with half an orange and a banana and coffee

Salad and yogurt and apple

Salad and some meat (have to walk to the store to buy some)

Snacks will probably include peanuts

Okay, Jillian Michaels is in my head yelling at me...time for the shred!! After I put on my bra! Gravity doesn't need any help with all those jumping jacks!!!

01-14-2010, 12:00 PM
Morning Ladies:

Very busy day at work. I just wanted to check in and say hello. I had a great OP day yesterday and worked out on my treadmill. Gotta go have a great day everyone. Keep up the good work.

01-14-2010, 01:55 PM
Up but not going today yet. Fixing to go make our breakfast/lunch which will be oatmeal and OJ. Haven't figured out what to make for dinner yet. Have to run to town today. Dreading it as my hair looks so bad. Can't wait to go to the beauty shop Tues.

Mercee- You're just buzzing along eating good and doing the treadmill. Good for you.

Kris- Your eating looks good. Yes its hard when the weight comes off as slow as it does on me. But I take lots of medicine for my heart so it slows everything down. I need to get on the dang treadmill and help myself.

Solly- You've got everything sure planned out, which is so good. We're doing good. Hope you're not coming down with what ever virus your family had.

scrappinhut- Hope you're feeling better.

Off to cook.

01-14-2010, 01:57 PM
I did the shred. I had to stop half way through until the spots went away before my eyes, but I got back to it and finished it. Tomorrow, my goal is to do it all the way through with only breaks for a sip of water. :woohoo:

01-14-2010, 02:09 PM
Howdy. Another warm day yesterday but I didn't make it out to walk. My daughter was feeling poorly so I went over and spent a little time with Little Man. He is such a good boy. It's hard to believe he is only 3 months old. He is reaching for things, grinning from ear to ear and playing in his bouncer already. :)

I tried to find ya'll on facebook with out much luck. I think I found Jackie. Here is my addy if that helps ya'll find me:

I think someone has been spying on me in the kitchen. Just read today's tip and you'll see why. :)

Are You A Grazer? Find Out
Don't graze. A taste of that fettuccine or a nibble on that loaf of fresh hot bread or a sample of that cookie batter may not seem like a big deal. But enough small bites can add up to a lot of calories. Stave off that hand-to-mouth reaction by constantly reminding yourself that there's no reason you need to have a bite here and a bite there. If you worked in a kitchen, would you constantly graze on your customers' meals? Put things into perspective so you'll be less likely to falter. are doing so good. I don't believe I could make it through a workout that intense at this point. I was luck to make two miles with a Leslie Sansone video the other day. Keep up the good work. No, no corn yet..LOL But it will be time to plant in about two months.

Toni...I hope you end up enjoying your visit to town. Dinner for us tonight is going to be burritos. I'm thinking of taking the left over veggies and putting them in the blender and hiding them in the meat and bean mixture. It will lower the fat and increase the fiber without the family being more the wiser.

Solly...Sure hope you feel better soon. This time of year is so yucky to feel badly. WW spaghetti sounds good. I had to go off plan and have white pasta yesterday. After visiting my daughter I went to my mom's and there were no OP options. But at least I kept the portion small. feeling bad and working out. You go! ((hugzz)) Hope you feel better today.

Mercee...don't work too hard. Good job getting to that treadmill. I told hubby today I want to search this weekend and see if we can find a used one. He is still balking at the idea. He teases me and says I have ten acres I can walk. I just give him the look..LOL

Bob and Ellen...thinking of you guys and hope you are doing well.

NurseDee...hope you are having a good day.

((Everybody)) No matter how many times we slip and fall it is all about the race and everyone who keeps toward the goal is a winner.

God bless,

01-14-2010, 04:17 PM
Good afternoon, everybody!

It's so great to see such an active board!

I'm behind with everything as usual and never have much of a chance to write these days, but I just wanted to get out there that I'm still OP and feeling pretty good about that. SB is the BEST for diabetes! My FBS this morning was 111 - the lowest it's been in forever. I got down into the 90s during the day yesterday (haven't seen that one in about as long) so I'm seeing big changes and they're for the good. Now if I can just get this fat to take off and leave...!

Scrappinhut - are you feeling better? Hope so! Your dedication leaves me in the dust, lady. So many people seem to have this awful respiratory thing going on. Good news is that it seems to be moving through quickly. Hang in there

Kris, your tracking is uber excellent! You're so on-program it's amazing. Do you eat whole eggs every day? I know the SB docs say it's OK but I'm still a little wary with my diabetes, though I do like them so much more than plain egg beaters. They have a fuller flavor, even if I just mix one in with the EBs it seems to be much better. And WTG with the Shred! Wow! :dancer: Just curious - what did you mean about the comment about Atkins not being a testament to his own diet?

Solly, what kind of work are you in? Is it construction? I see you do a lot of bids. It's a lot of work, I know. Hope you get lucky with this one! I must admit I laughed when I (finally) figured out what you meant when you said you had the baby and weren't feeling quite up to par. It hit me the same way, too! Don't underestimate the weight-loss value of housecleaning, even if you don't make it to the gym tonight! :)

Toni, sorry about your scale disappointment. Yes, heart meds can slow us WAY down. As you said, though, you had a good loss last week and at least you didn't gain this week, right? Hang in there. Next week is sure to show a loss!!

Mercee, WTG on the treadmill! We're looking to get rid of our old one and get a newer one. I find out this week if we get to do it. Hope so! I can't walk naturally on the one we have so I avoid it. It's too icy around here to get a good walk in so a treadmill will be ideal. Hope you're having a good day at work.

Crystle, how blessed you are to have a 3 m/o baby to love. I really miss the tiny babies. Your daughter is blessed to have you there for her when she needs it, too. Thanks, also, for the tips. Keep 'em coming.

I'm trying to decide if I want to make meat loaf or teriyaki burgers tonight. I'm taking a poll at home and the house is divided. Whatever I do, nary a potato shall pass my lips - promise! As long as the first bite doesn't come through I'm safe.

Well, I've been away from work too long so I'd better get back in gear. Enjoy your day, and keep up the good work, everybody! (And if you're not keeping up the good work, this is a great time to start!)

01-15-2010, 10:16 AM
  I got my jeans buttoned!!!!!!

I have a "nice" pair of jeans that I have not worn since Christmas and I had to wear them with a belt and not button them. Today they buttoned. I was happy. Motivation.

Plus it's Friday. Work has been so bad lately that I can't stand it. After 37 years I am ready to retire if only I had the money to. I used to love my job and coming to work, but things have chanaged since the owner died (even though he did not have much input, he was the money backer) and we have a young guy who has been here 2 years that is so rude, arrogant and disrespectful that I can't stand. I have tried everything, he makes me so mad and so defensive. I just want to win the lottery. Enough griping.

I am so saddened by the situation in Haiti. Those poor people. I am just afraid all the money people are sending will not get to the right places. Their government is so corrupt.

Tech, Oh my, I can't imagine having my own baby at this age. Whew! it wears me out just babysitting for extended times. Good job on your shred it. It will get easier and easier.

Mercee, you are plugging along, good job on the exercise.

Toni, what did you get in town?

Crystle, what a good GM. I'm sure your DD appreciated the help and you got to enjoy the baby. 3 months is a cute time. They are just developing a personality and starting to do things. I like them when the "do" things. We are having 50 degree weather today. it's like summer time. I didn't even wear a coat today.

Nursedd, I'm so glad you are seeing such good results with your sugar levels. SB is good for that. Keep up the good work. Yes, I work for a general contractor and we don't have much work so we are bidding everything and things that we shouldn't along with 30 other contractors. Of course, we did not get the one yesterday either.

Bob, Ellen, where are you?

No big plans for the weekend. Lots of basketball on TV. I may try to get to the gym tomorrow or at least work out at home. No excuse not to. Have a good day. I may be back later.

01-15-2010, 10:18 AM
Didn't Dr. Atkins die of heart disease? or something like was kind of an ironic death, from what I remember. I know when I tried Atkins, I was so constipated I felt like i would need surgery when I finally had to go. TMI, I know, but that's what it did for me...a whole lot of steak, eggs and cheese going in one way and NOTHING the other way. If you know what I'm sayin... :s: As for the eggs, i have two in my omlette and my cholesterol is extremely low and is not a problem for me. My dad is diabetic, so I am keeping my eye out for those symptoms...

Off to go do two hair appointments. I had my cheese omlette and banana this morning with my coffee. I run out of produce so fast on this diet. And its so hard to come by around here...

Will return for lunch!! TTFN!!

01-15-2010, 10:20 AM
Also...I have three days under my belt with the Shred. yesterday I walked down to school to get my son and I can't believe the difference already in my body's reaction to just walking. I wasn't out of breath and the pain I get in the tendons on the back of my ankles is minimal. Wicked cool!!

Solly: :woohoo: to the jeans!! Someday, I'll be able to wear mine, too and lose the friggen sweats!

01-15-2010, 11:11 AM
Morning everyone. Just having my coffee and its oh so good. Everyone is still asleep so its nice and quiet here. Having lunch with a friend and hope I can find something on the menu I can have. Being in a rural area makes for fried everything.

Solly- Thats so great on the jeans. What an inspiration. Already you are losing inches. Its so bad when you hate your job. DH spent the last years hateing his and was so glad to take his retirement at 62.

Kris- Dang girl you are rockin with the exercise and eating. Keep up the good work.

NurseDee- What did you decide for dinner? I'm thinking of making pork chops tonight. Last night was bean burritos in a wwheat tortilla shell. But maybe after my lunch today it should be fish. LOL Thats so great about your BS. Sugar Busters is a good program.

Crystle- I hope you find your treadmill. I love mine. Even if I haven't started back walking on it I know its there for me. Our burritos were good last night hope yours were. I'll see ya on facebook.

Back to my coffee. Will check in later..

01-15-2010, 11:52 AM
Morning all:

Things have slowed a bit at work. Tonight my hubby and I are going out to dinner with friends, I am determined to stay OP. We've been to this place before so at least I am familiar with the food there. It will be great to get out and enjoy ourselves. I plan to workout before we go.

Solly - Great job on getting your jeans buttoned!

Toni- Have a great time at lunch with your friend.

Crystle- I hope you are able to get your treadmill. I love having it at home. (It takes away excuses for me.) I put mine in the family room so I can watch television and workout. We spend a lot of time in our family room so I talk to my hubby and kids while I"m working out. I also enjoy walking outside whrn the weather is good.

Nursedee- I so happy things are going well for you.

Techwife- Keep up the good work.

Well ladies I'm out of here. Have a great day all. I may check back later. If not have a great evening as well.

01-15-2010, 01:08 PM
Back from doing hair...easy $35 for the morning.

i'm having lunch, which is a nice size salad with lettuce, tomatoes, cukes, broccoli and cheddar cheese and a yummy orange mango yogurt with a giant glass of water.

Jillian is waiting for me, but I have to fuel up so I can make it through the friggen thing.

Mercee and Toni: Remember, watching the scale go down tastes better than the tempting things on the menu! ;)

01-15-2010, 02:30 PM
Howdy ya'll. I just finished whipping up a batch of tuna fish. It has onions, jalapenos, celery, dill pickles, eggs, light mayo and cajun spice. It is amazing after all the flavors blend together. It will be ten times better tomorrow than today. Eating was so so yesterday. I'm out of veggies I want to eat so we need to make a store run this weekend. Having the right things on hand makes a huge difference.

Go Solly, got your jeans buttoned!!!!:carrot::carrot::carrot: I know that must feel wonderful. Sorry about your job.

Toni...hope you find something tasty to eat. If you have to get fried maybe you could pull off the breading. :) Load up on the salad and side veggies.

Tech..your salad sounds wonderful. I've been eating a salad with a burrito on it for lunch most days and ran out of the salad part so no burrito.

Mercee...enjoy your dinner. I think it's important to enjoy ourselves. It makes staying OP easier.

NurseDee..yes little man is a blessing. Britt tried for several years and lost two babies before you was able to have Maverick. So it is even sweeter having gone through the heartache and struggles.

Scrappinhut...Hope you are feeling better today.

I'm getting hungry so I think I'd better find something to eat before I binge. Even healthy food can make us fat if we eat too much. :)

God bless,

01-15-2010, 03:53 PM
I'm ashamed to say I ate horrible at lunch. Don't know why but I went in to hungry and just ordered the wrong things. Anyway needed to confess. Hope I can put this behind me.

01-15-2010, 05:59 PM
One One...I caved today and ate a LOT. Not one or two but a whole sleeve plus and that's all I'll say. Hang in there Toni. We all do it.

Love and hugs,

01-16-2010, 11:05 AM
For dinner yesterday I had a cheeseburger patty (no bun) with cheddar and meunster cheeses and mushrooms on top with a nice salad and a large water. For a snack I had a lite n fit yogurt.

This morning I'm eyeing the big container of oatmeal. I will have half a cantaloupe with it. Yum.

Crystle and Toni: don't is a new day!

01-16-2010, 02:17 PM
I am disgusted to report that stress combined with a hypo manic crash and my hubby getting a 24 hour virus along with my cold I have totally bombed this week. I am working on healing up but need a couple more days.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I will be back soon.

01-16-2010, 02:42 PM
Well well was it a full moon or something? Sounds like I'm not the only one that had a bad time. I woke up still feeling mad at myself for what I did yesterday. And to make it worse I didn't do so good last night either. I can only say that today is a new day and a new way. We're learning to eat right and can't expect not to have those days. So come on girls we can do it. Back to eating right today. And lets put yesterday behind us.

01-16-2010, 05:54 PM
hi everyone,

maybe there is a full moon or something. i also had a bad week of eating, mostly a lot of comfort foods and a drivethru at mcD's (what was i thinking!). i always get just a happy meal, but after eating i was not all that happy!

i missed posting on weigh in wed., but lucky for me the scales stayed the same.

hugs to everyone here, and prayers for the people in Haiti.

to a better week, cheers!!!

01-16-2010, 09:30 PM
Kyle talked me into pancakes for breakfast this morning...which were the best pancakes i've ever made...but I only had one bite to try them. Then I had half a cantaloupe and a container of lite n fit yogurt for breakfast. For lunch I had a banana, apple and some whole wheat bread and butter with some peanuts on the side. Dinner was a little illegal in the fact that i had tri-color macaroni baked with fresh carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, corn and chicken and cheeses. It was yummy! Just before, I did the shred adn i've been dumping a lot of water down the hatch so that the food will, in my mind, speed through my body before the macaroni does too much damage. LOL

Chris: happy meals are designed to make children happy LOL

Toni: Just drink lots of water and go for a walk...maybe that will make you feel better....or not....

Scrappin: When people are sick, its hard to stay on plan. Don't be too hard on yourself.

I'm not allowing myself a snack tonight since I ate a little too much for dinner. I'm goign to flood myself out with water instead. LOL

Back to watching the Sabres game!!! Lets go Buffalo!! :woohoo:

01-16-2010, 10:40 PM
Today was a much better day than yesterday. We were too busy to eat..LOL Dinner was hard considering they had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, okra and cabbage. I pouted a little but after making all that I had a tuna sandwich on whole wheat. We did find a delicious snack at Sam's today, chocolate covered Almonds. They aren't candy coated it's more like cocoa dust that has been sweetened with splenda. I had about five of those before dinner and they really hit the spot. I haven't tried it yet but I also got some Greek style yogurt. I've heard a lot of good things. I hope it taste good. No veggies were on sale so it's basically salad week. Fruit was through the roof also, but I'm not much of a fruit eater.

Scrapin' Toni and Happy Now...tossing ya'll out a rope to climb back on the wagon. It's all good. Today is another day and this year IS our year. :) are doing so good. Keep up the good work...

((Everybody)) Hope you have a super night.

God bless,

01-16-2010, 10:54 PM
Hangin on to that rope Crystle. I'm having a hard time right now but have done well today except a little extra nuts. We had fish for dinner with cottage cheese, brown rice and broccoli salad.

Tech- Way to go passing on the pancakes.

Happy- Jump on the wagon with the rest of us.

01-16-2010, 10:59 PM
Well, Shelley decided to make oatmeal cookies tonight. I had four. At least its oatmeal. I'll make sure I have a big glass of water.

01-17-2010, 12:34 PM
Good morning everyone. Hope you're all having a good week end. Eating is just okay here not great. Making a legal pizza for dinner. DH's request. Had fish last night. Guess I'll just take one hour at a time here.

Tech- Oh how I love oatmeal cookies. They would be hard to resist. Hope you can leave them alone today.

Well I'll check back later....

01-17-2010, 01:39 PM
Good morning. :) The sun is actually out and it's almost 60 degrees this morning...hip hip hooray. We are suppose to be near 70 all this week. I can't wait. Right this minute I am starvin' like Marvin. The guys had pancakes so I need to find something legal to eat. It's almost lunch time so I may just wait. I did take one taste of the Greek yogurt and it is amazing. I can't wait to make smething with it. It is thick like sour cream with just the right amount of twang. I have a couple of dip recipes I am thinking of trying and using cucumbers as the "chips".

Today's email tip:

EZ Ways To Reuse Food
Learn to just say no. Regardless of their motives, people love to push food onto others. Overcoming this obstacle can be difficult. When Aunt Ida or Cousin Betty plead with you to try their creamy, dreamy potato casserole, you don't have the heart to refuse their offerings, especially at the risk of offending them. There are a couple of ways to approach the situation. You can gently turn your loved one down by explaining you just had a big meal and couldn't eat another bite. Or you can sample a small bite and discreetly push the plate aside when somebody else comes along. The most important rule of thumb is to be tactful so that you can walk away from the situation with your dignity and your waistline still intact.

Toni...((hugzz)) Pizza sounds wonderful. I looked and looked for a prepared whole wheat pizza at two different stores and they didn't have any. Told hubby I was gonna just have to make my own. I'm just too lazy..LOL

Tech...yum on the oatmeal. I saw a recipe yesterday where they used half sugar and half artificial sugar and they said it was till tasty.

Don't think I'm going to wait until lunch gonna grab a bite.

God bless,

01-17-2010, 08:37 PM
I feel like a stuffed turkey. Mostly legal, the steak is just very heavy. We rarely have steak but the guys and I had a treat. The youngest and I shared one. Jess and Robert both ate over a pound a piece. I couldn't imagine. I just ate the tender loin and was so full.

Today was salsa day. I ended up with 5 quarts. That ought to last a while. I also indulged in some sugar free cookies. Luckily for me my hubby ate the rest of them so I'm safe. :)

Hope ya'll are having a nice evening.

Love and hugs,

Hi, everybody!!

Yep, it's about that time of the year - 3rd week into the New Year where we all have a tendency to start faltering...little smidgen here, big crash happens to all of us because we're human.

What will separate the men from the boys is this:

Well, I'm not ready to give up again. Not this year. Not this time. I have too much at stake. We all do. We're all tired of carrying this weight around, of having health problems, clothes problems, social embarrassments, you name it. There is NO reason why we can't beat this except for one: that we CHOOSE NOT TO. This is up to each one of us, ladies. WE have to do it for ourselves. A very wise person once said: "It doesn't matter how many times I fall down. I just have to get up one extra time..." and it's so true. This is a life process. If I don't keep my commitment, for me, it will one day become a death process. I don't want to be in this condition any more. I want it enough to continue trying. So do you all or you wouldn't be here. Why, then, don't we take a moment and forgive ourselves our OWN trespasses, look to the sky, and start over again. WE CAN DO THIS.

By the way, I've been completely OP for the past week, my fasting blood sugars are in the amazing one-teens, my diabetes is under control, and I'm just beginning in a teeny weeny little way to start feeling better. It will take years to undo or at least mitigate the effects of the damage I've done to myself, but when you realize deep down inside that there's NO REASON not to try to win this battle. In reality, it's only food. It'll be there tomorrow and tomorrow and the next day. I don't have to have it right now. I know that this motivation won't last till the finish line, but I'm writing it now so that you can lead me to it when I'm feeling discouraged and hopeless.

Right now, the light is on for me. Go find your switch and flip yours on, too!

I love y'all for your strength, beauty, kindness, honesty, efforts and support! I'm glad I found you.

Hi ladies,

Guess I need to join the confessions here. I had all my dinners planned for the weekend and my Dh made me blow it. Have t blame someone other than myself right???? Friday I had planned my 2 beers (whichI had) and taco bell's fresco tacos for dinner. DH was craving fish. So instead of getting the baked fish, green beans, sald, I get fried fish, onion rings and green beans. I was so mad at myself that I was in a fog all Saturday. Saturday night I planned on going to our Roadhouse steak place and getting the small steak, salad, and veggies. We didn't have much time before the next football game and there was a long wait at the steakhouse so we went Mexican. Well, there's not much I like there other than a beef burrito covered with cheese. So guess what I got and had some chips too. Ugh! The rest of my meals were fine, I was so mad. I have to learn to make good choices in those situations. The scale is way up this morning so I hope with lots of water it will be back down my WIW. I think Nursedee's post is so great and an inspiration to all of us. We are only human, they key is to get back on plan. Let's hold hands in the wagon and maybe we won't fall off this week.

TEch, is the Shred a DVD you bought or something you downloaded on TV? Hide those cookies.

Toni, we are in the confessional together. Let's forge ahead on track.

Mercee, hope you did better at dinner than most of us.

Crystle, I having tuna for lunch, yours sounds soo much better than mine. I should have added more stuff. Sometimes the crackers win. Move ahead. Good job on passing up that country fried steak. I would not have been able to do that. We use brown sugar splenda (whichis half & Half) in our oatmeal. Only takes a tsp.

Scrappinhut, Hope you and Dh are feeling much better.

Happy, see you are in need of help in getting back on the wagon. Really, a happy meal is not that bad, calorie wise. You could have done a lot worse.

Nursedee, WOW! What a grat motivational speach. You are just what we faltering sheep needed. I'm feeling so much better after your post. Thanks so much and keep up the great work.

Have a great OP day. Off to eat my cottage cheese and berries and yogurt. Lunch will be tuna and a tangerine. Dinner is rigatoni (homemade so it is not too bad with ww penne pasta, lean beef and lowfat cheese) and a salad. I am under my calories so it is fine.

01-18-2010, 10:20 AM
Oh I forgot, I did take a 1 mile walk Saturday since it was in the high 50's and I am going to the gym tonight. It is supposed to be warm here all week so I amhoping to get in a walk some nights.

01-18-2010, 11:13 AM
Morning Ladies:

Crystle- Wow you are having amazing weather . The weather here is in the high 30's but I'll take it.

NureseDee- Great motivation thanks. My hubby always says the only fights we lose are the ones we refuse to keep fighting.

Solly- I hope you have a great Op day today. The weekend is over just forget it and keep going. Sometimes we can have have everything planned and still miss it. The important thing is to keep going.

Remember one or two days of bad eating will not undo all the work we have accomplished. Lets just keep going.

I had a great time on Friday. I managed to stay OP in eating. I didn't make time to workout Friday or Saturday. I felt bad but yesterday I worked out and today I will. I just have to keep going and not beat myself up. Think about it how many times we have beat ourselves up and just gave up. Ladies lets all keep going we will win. Have a great day all.

01-18-2010, 11:14 AM
Tech - Put those cookies up and keep goiing. LOL

01-18-2010, 01:49 PM
Howdy. My chickens are really liking this warmer weather. Yesterday they rewarded me with extra eggs. The extra eggs came in handy for breakfast. We had fried egg sandwiches. Mine was on whole wheat with fat free cheese and dill pickles. I don't like it as good as white bread but I'm adjusting. There are certain childhood foods that just don't taste as good on wheat...fried eggs, tomato or tuna. My friend grew up on wheat bread so she feels just the opposite. She says white bread has no flavor. I wish. :)

Today's tip:

Spare Change Equals Spare Tire
Don't carry around spare change. Leave those quarters, dimes and nickels in your coin jar. When hunger strikes, it's far too easy to reach into your pocket and pull out that loose change for a quick fix. However, those chips and candy bars come at a high price. They're loaded with empty calories that are certain to derail your diet.

NurseDee...your enthusiasm is contagious. That is the beauty of a group. We can take turns holding each other up. And you are definitely an encourager. Thanks.

Solly...hang in there. You know that it is just water weight. And you have stayed the course of this way of eating for a long time. You'll be back on track before you know it.

Mercee..yes. Texas usually has mild days so the week it was really cold was almost unbearable. My little house is from the 1930's and they didn't know anything about insulation or proper heating. :) As tiny as it is you'd think I could keep it warm but only the front room will get really warm.

Every one on this board is a winner. So when that little voice tells you otherwise, call it a LIAR. ((hugzz))

God bless,

01-18-2010, 02:37 PM
Oh boy I'll be glad when weigh in Wed. is over so I can feel like the bad eating weekend has really ended. But Monday is a new day. Getting ready to have my oatmeal and OJ.

NurseDee- Loved your post it was such an inspiration. Its just what we needed right now to keep us going. And its wonderful about your blood sugars. Sugar Busters does work....

Solly- Bad week end for you too! This is so hard even when you plan. I hope I get on the treadmill this week. At least you walked which was so good. Its hard sometime not to just give up. We can do this....

Mercee- Good going on the eating. Keep up the good work.....

Crystle- How nice to get the extra eggs. I need to boil some to have on hand. Think its warm enough to throw something on the grill outside. So think I'll thaw out a pork tenderloin.

Okay ladies we can do this. Hope you all have a good OP day.

01-18-2010, 03:07 PM
Crystle, Can you find the white, ww bread? I don't think you can tell a difference from regular white.

Toni, I'm counting on you to get walking on the :tread: this week. You can do it. At least it counteracts any bad things we do. We grilled steaks last night. It wasn't really warm since it rained all day, but it was something different.

Mercee, good job staying OP eating out. You are an inspiration. Any work out at all is better than none. I only got there 1 day last week. Better than none. I hope to make it 3 or 4 this week.

Just popping in. Still OP. One hour at a time.

01-18-2010, 05:43 PM
Back on the wagon. Still feeling remnants of the cold but better. Had a small bowl of Cheerios for breakfast, then 3 hours later a yogurt. Had to get the Weight Watchers one b/c they were out of the Lite and Fit. For lunch I had a grilled cheese sandwich on Double Fiber Whole Wheat Bread.

I finally worked out again. DH helped me with my form this weekend. I was not doing some of the exercises correctly. So today I did 3 sets of 8 walking lunges with a 6 lbs weight, 24 lat lifts, 3 sets of 10 squats.

Dinner is supposed to be Salad w/ Free Italian dressing and Pan Sauted Trout battered in whole wheat flour.

I hope everyone else is doing better. I fell pretty hard but I am back up and hoping the same for everyone else!!

01-19-2010, 10:29 AM
Well, this weekend's eating was a disaster. I didn't eat enough and what I did eat wasn't great for me. Ah, well...brush off and start over again.

I did the Shred on Saturday, but took the day off on Sunday. Then yesterday I had the kids home and Kyle came home from a sleepover with the boy that he had the sleepover with and they were both tired and cranky. I had two haircuts and at the end of the day,I just ran out of steam, so no shred yesterday, either. I'm on my way out to make some eggs and half a cantaloupe for breakfast and some oj and get the video rolling again.

01-19-2010, 10:42 AM
Techwife: that seemed to be the theme this weekend! LOL Everyone was out of it. Good job dusting yourself off and getting back up.

Ate great yesterday. And this am I am eating my yogart for breakfast.

My a$$ is hurting this morning from the lunges etc. yesterday.

01-19-2010, 11:08 AM
Good morning,

I'm surprised I got here so early. We hae yet another bid today so it will be crazy.

Made it to the gym last night, Got a good workout, I was actually sweating. That makes me feel like I did something.

Eating is still on track. I do great during the week, it's those weekends. We have our bunco dinner tomorrow night, but I should be fine. This place has ww pizza and I will do veggie or just get a grilled chicken salad

This morning I had 2 fried eggs (used Pam), raisen toast, oj. Going to have berries and yogurt in a minute. Lunch will be 1/2 c tomato soup, grilled cheese (no butter) on 35 calories ww bread and a tangerine. Dinner is Crystle's unrolled cabbage rolls. Don't know what to put with them though.

Crystle, I made the cabbage rolls. What do I put with them? Do you serve it over rice? I put almost a whole big bag or slaw mix in there. I hope we like it b/c it was so easy to make.

Toni, made it on the :tread: yet?

Scrappinhut, no wonder your bottom hurts with all those lunges. I was good at them before I broke my foot, now I have to start over. Mine is sore today from using the leg press. If you have one where you go, try it with your toes pointed out at the top of the plate and then at the bottom of the plate. It is a killer workout for your inner thighs.

Tech, brush yourself off and jump back in the wagon. We are holding on tight this week. It those weekends that sabatoge us. I read that yesterday is the gloomiest day of the year b/c people are tired of the cold weather and most people have blown their NY's resolutions by now. So we are ahead of the game, b/c we have not blown ours.

Better go check the fax machine. I'll be back after the bid hopefully.

01-19-2010, 11:30 AM
Anyone have a low calories recipe for a good granola?

01-19-2010, 01:01 PM
Good morning everyone. Well I made it through yesterday. Need to up my water and I did have some extra nuts. So need to watch that. I'm trying to get up a little earlier. Its hard to go from late nights and late mornings to regular hours. It seems like I need to change my whole life. I'm getting there LOL slow as a turtle. Today I get a much needed permanent at the beauty shop. Yippee...

scrappinhut- You go girl. You're doing great. Your trout sounds good.

Kris- You're doing it slow but sure. Its so hard when you're trying to change bad eating habits to good ones. It just takes time. I think thats so great you go to people houses to do their hair. Man I wished you lived near me.

Solly- Wow what an inspiration you are. Your eating and working out are so great. I haven't started on the treadmill yet but I will. Will be glad to hear how the cabbage dish goes, maybe over brown rice would be good.

Happy Day all...

01-19-2010, 01:21 PM
Morning Ladies:

I'm glad to see we are all doing better since the weekend. I managed to workout last night on my treadmill and I stayed OP with my eating. Sorry I don;t have time for individual posts. I hope to get back later. Have a nice day everyone.

01-19-2010, 01:52 PM
Hello, Ladies! Happy New Year! Its been a ride for me...I started going to a chiropractor a friend recommended. She recommended I go off eggs for a month to see if I felt better without them, as she thought they might be causing some inflammation. So I did. I had already gone on a gluten free diet a few months before, so now I am eating gluten free and egg free. Its very very hard to do! I eat a lot of lean protein, and vegetables. I am avoiding almost all starches as well. Am I losing? Nope..and my blood sugar levels are terrible. So I am feeling really discouraged. I am doing one thing good - I have been going to water aerobics at least twice a week. Last week I went three times, and I hope to keep that up now.

I skimmed the posts, and I am pleased to see some new folks here! yay!

01-19-2010, 02:03 PM
Ellen- Its so good to see you posting. We've all missed you. I can't believe what a hard time you're having. Seems like the weight should be coming off of you. Why oh why??? Keep up the good work and surely it should start dropping off. Thats so great you're swimming.

Mercee- Good going for you. Sounds like you're doing great.

01-19-2010, 05:16 PM
Eating has been decent. :) I hope the scales are good to me tomorrow...LOL It is beautiful outside. I should be out there walking. Maybe when I finish with this and my email.

I have a rabbit in the oven and it smells really good. I think I'll make brown rice and sweet potatoes to go with it.

Email tip:

The Ideal Time To Shop
Shop on a full stomach. When you're hungry, anything and everything looks good to eat. From cookies to subs to frozen pizza, it's simple to throw caution to the wind and indulge in guilty pleasures without thinking about the repercussions. Before you hit the grocery store, enjoy a healthy meal or snack. You'll be less likely to splurge on those unhealthy offerings that are so tempting when you're in a hunger crisis.

This thing drives me batty when I can't change the colors. Then again my family says I'm already batty.. :)

Solly...we just eat the cabbage as is. But it would also be good with brown or basmati rice. sorry that the scales are not moving down. Your diet seems very challenging. I hope that you find you will be able to incorporate some of the foods back on your no-no list if they won't hurt you.

Toni..I've been eating some nuts lately and I think they are helping me stay OP between meals.

Scrappinhut...keep up the good work. I just bought some of the double fiber bread you were talking about. It's priced a lot better than the other wheat breads in my area.

God bless,

01-19-2010, 07:10 PM
Hello, everyone!!

OP continues. I let myself get really hungry this morning and didn't eat until 2 because I had stuff going on. I needed some soup because now I'm getting the sore trachea that everybody in the house has been getting. I looked for the lowest carbs and believe it or not it was chicken noodle. It felt really good to my throat. Hope it doesn't mess up my BSs.

Ellen, it's good to see you! I've been wanting to hear more from you. I'm really sorry that you're having such a tough time. Are you journaling what you eat? I would guess you are if you're working with the doctor, but just a suggestion...sometimes it can help to figure it all out. My heart is with you! Don't give up, and keep up the water aerobics. I used to do that when we lived in was in a therapy pool (90 degrees!) - oh how I loved how it all felt. There's nothing like that where I am in NY now...I never wanted to get out! :) Hope things get better for you really soon.

Toni, I can think of worse things to eat than nuts. Your heart will love you for it! Though the calories can really add up. I ask my DD to weigh out 2 oz. for me in a ramekin so that I don't touch the jar LOL. I agree that it really helps me get through the day.

Crystle, when we have the cabbage (did again last night!) we have it on brown rice. It is the ultimate comfort food. Even my veggie-hating kids gobble it up and look for seconds. I put minced garlic in ours, too, and sprinkle it with 2% shredded Mexican cheese. I know - Mexi-Hungarian! HA! It really works, though. To really make it kicked up we also put on Vietnamese hot garlic sauce. Truly an international wonder. I know I will be making this a lot!

Everybody, keep up the great work - I have to get going. Roast beef in the crock pot with mushrooms, onion soup mix, and cream of mushroom soup with garlic and pepper - TJ's spelt on the side and maybe a side of salad. I've been lacking in my veggies again...

Fingers crossed for all of us at the scale tomorrow. Hugs all around!!

01-19-2010, 08:12 PM
Has anyone posted the cabbage recipe everyone keeps talking about anywhere or is it from a website?

01-20-2010, 11:17 AM
Morning ladies:

I guess I am the first to weigh in. I am down 2lbs. I feel great and I have stayed OP. I also added 10 minutes to my treadmill workout. At least for now I feel like I am in control. LOL It is still in the 30's here. At 1east it is not below zero like it usually is this time of year.

Scrappinhut- I'm looking for the cabbage recipe also. I sure hope someone twill post it.

NuseDee- I hope you are feeling better tody. I'm sure the soup won't do any damage.

Crystle- I hope your rabbit turned out well. My dad use to eat rabbit. Did you get your walk in?

Hi Toni and Solly I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Welcome back Ellen. Well I have to get back to work. Have a nice day everyone.

01-20-2010, 12:45 PM
Where is everyone?

01-20-2010, 01:11 PM
Good morning. Well I had such a bad week last week I'm surprised and happy I lost 1/2 lb. Thats great for me. Hopefully next Wed. will be better.

Mercee- A great big congrads on losing the 2 lbs. you must be over the moon. Keep up the good work. The cabbage dish is on here maybe a page or two back.

NurseDee- Oh no I hope you're not going to get sick or is it to late for that? Get lots of rest... And drink that soup.

Crystle- I hope your rabbit turned out good. We ended up with roast and brown rice.

01-20-2010, 01:26 PM
Toni- Congrats on your weight loss. I plan to try the cabbage recipe this week.

01-20-2010, 02:28 PM
<rubbing my eyes for clarity> ELLEN!! I've missed you!!

Well, the 30-Day-Shred is no longer on Exercise on Demand. I've tried different videos, but I really just want to put on my sneakers and power walk around town. I think that's best. Eating is back on track:

Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled with green peppers and mushrooms, 1/4 cantaloupe and small glass of NSA orange juice and a WW sandwich round, toasted with peanut butter

Lunch: Some turkey, a banana and some yogurt

Snack: Something involving peanuts and lots of water

Dinner: TBA, but will involve a salad and some meat. maybe hamburger patties.

No time for replies...have to get moving.

01-20-2010, 02:28 PM
Weight in wasn't as good as I had hoped because I ate brown rice last night. I knew that I knew that I knew it was going to bloat me. But all whining aside I lost a pound so I am happy. Down is better than up. :) The rabbit came out wonderful. I cooked it in the oven in my grandma's magnalite roasting pan until it fell off of the bone. The juice was scrumptious because it had bell pepper, onion and celery in it. I put the juice over the brown rice. It was very filling. Tonight I am going to take the left over rice and rabbit mix with refried beans and make burritos. I love when I can stretch a meal.

Cabbage Recipe:
Shredded Cabbage
Ground beef
Onion/ Garlic
Cajun Seasoning
A can of Rotel
Tomato sauce

You brown the meat, onion and spices. Add the shredded cabbage and other ingredients. Cook until tender. That's it. :)

Toni...WTG any weight down is a good thing. I'm with you, I'm looking forward to next Wed.

Mercee...I did get in my walk. It was so beautiful out. My yard is a giant mud hole but the road wasn't too bad. It's already 72 so I'm hoping to get out again today. Congratulations on your weight loss.

NurseDee...We like the cabbage with rice but to save calories I don't usually make it. Now when I do the unstuffed peppers I have to add the rice. I'm thinking seriously of making that soon. The garlic sauce sounds good. I really really love spicy foods. My family eats spicy but not as much as me. When I make salsa if I made it to my taste they wouldn't eat it. :) Hope your throat is feeling better today.

Solly...hope you aren't working too hard.

If anyone didn't get a loss today don't give up. Any one of us can have an up day even following our plan perfectly. ((hugzz))

Congrats to all LOSERS.. :carrot: :carrot:

God bless,

01-20-2010, 02:59 PM
I forgot weigh-in Wednesday. According to MY scale (which i tried to callabrate to the doctor's shocking number), I'm down 5 pounds. I'm trying not to be too excited because i know the first few come off easy.

I just got in from a rather invigorating power walk, then came home and did some crunches and push ups. I would rather do the power walk around the village than a video anyway.

Okay...time for a shower and a ten-second tidy on the house! TTFN!!

01-20-2010, 04:00 PM
Hi, just a quickie,we are working on a proposal.

WIW has me down 2.5 pounds. Not sure that is good, but I will take it for now. I got on and it had me up 3 lbs then I tried again and I was down 2-3 so I weighted about 5 times and the 2-3 stuck, so I' going with it.

Tech, :cheer: take the five and enjoy it.

Mercee, WTG on your 2 lbs.

Crystle, 1 is better than nothing.

Toni, 1/2 is great. Hang in there.

OK I need all your good vibes to make my dinner a legal one tonight. I only have about 600 calories to spare. I can do this.

Be back tomorrow with more posts.

01-20-2010, 04:23 PM
Congratulations Tech on your 5 lb loss great job keep up the good work.

Solly-- Take the loss. Congrats girl you are on the move 2.5 lbs down.

01-20-2010, 05:15 PM
Hi everybody !

Well, I picked a heck of a night to O.D. Night before weigh-in!! Last night I was dying for a Reese's pb cup but instead had a little peanut butter with a 40-calorie fudgsicle. So proud of myself, right? Till it turned into 3 fudgsicles and about a CUP of peanut butter! I probably would have gotten off lighter if I'd have just bought the darn things. That plus the WAY too much salt in my roast and spelt left me with water balloons on my feet and legs today. Not a good day to weigh in! But I did and I'm still down 1.1 lbs so I'll take it and move on. Not surprisingly my blood sugar was up to 138 today (I think the spelt might have had something to do with that, too, plus being sick). Time to re-group! I'm feeling rotten - my voice dropped about an octave - and I'm fighting the building congestion in my chest. Taking lots of Zicam and vitamins and drinking lots of fluid. I really can't afford pneumonia this year...

Everybody is doing so great!!! From 1-5 lbs is phenomenal each one of you! WTG, Tech!! Solly, 2.5 would make ME happy this week! LOL - besides if you take a lot off very quickly you know it comes on even faster. 2-3 lbs. is ideal and healthy.

Mercee - congrats on the W/L AND the upping your activity! Pass some of those "I am in control" vibes my way, will ya?? :^:

Toni - it's great that you have posted a loss after a discouraging week! Let it revv you up to keep you strong this week!! I'm happy for you!

Crystle, with all of your great cooking you're still losing!! Terrific!

I'm soooooooooo tired so I think I'll go back and rest. Hang in there, everyone, and keep up the great work!

01-20-2010, 05:18 PM
Oops - forgot - taco salad with pintos and guac for dinner. Blueberry smoothies for dessert. :)

01-20-2010, 05:43 PM
Oh boy look at all the weight losses. Good going ladies. What an inspiration.

Kris- What a great loss 5 lbs. is. You're doing so great.

Crystle- OOOO EEEEE down a lb. Just think of slapping those thighs with a lb. of butter. And you got rid of it. Your burritos sound yummy.

Solly- You did it!!!!! Wow 2.5 lbs is so great. You earned it.

NurseDee- Good for you. Today is a new day and we've got a great start to next week. Feel better and rest lots.

Scrappinhut- How'd you do this week?

01-20-2010, 06:43 PM
Toni you had me laughing my tootie off. If laughing is good exercise I think I just lost another pound. :) Go in a pretty good walk today. A little over two miles. The best part is today made day two. My first two days in a LLLLLLLLLOOOOOONNNGGGG time.

Email Tip:

Missing Meals Makes You Fast
Don't skip meals. Going without may seem like a good way to cut calories. However, you're doing more harm than good. By eliminating meals, you're actually sending the body into starvation mode. This can play tricks on your metabolism, going so far as to slow it down. There are also the effects skipping meals has on causing blood sugar levels to rise and fall. When you do finally eat, you're more likely to overindulge as a result of prolonging eating.

WTG Solly and Tech!

NurseDee...awesome the scales are down. When the bloat is gone it will be down even more. Sorry you are still feeling under the weather. A little lemon and honey taudy works wonders on a sore throat and cough.

((SB Ladies)) Ya'll rock.

God bless,

01-20-2010, 08:54 PM
Just a quick post to report I made Crystle's cabbage recipe and it was delicious. The whole family enjoyed it.

NurseDee-- Congrats on your loss. I hope you feel better soon.

I am sure next week ladies we will all lose again.

Have a great night everyone.

01-20-2010, 09:21 PM
Will have to go to the store Friday for cabbage. It sounds so good. Thanks for letting us know Mercee.

I had a great dinner tonight. Chicken on the rotissare, marinaded in zesty italian dressing. A baked sweet potato and broccoli. Yum good. Found out my problem is I'm not eating enough veggies. It sure made the difference tonight. What do you all put on your sweet potato and broccli instead of butter? I need to find a way I'll like them without butter.

Crystle-Your tip really made sense today. Its so right.

Have a good evening all.

01-21-2010, 12:22 AM
Good evening. Sitting here playing on the computer so I thought I'd sneak in again.

Toni..I use a little margarine made with olive oil and for a treat I might add a drop or two of agave.

Mercee...I'm so glad they liked the cabbage. When the kiddos were little there were seven of us and it was just too hard to make cabbage rolls so that was our compromise. :)

God bless,

01-21-2010, 11:12 AM
Good morning,

I'm happy to report I did fine at dinner. Had a salad with mandarin orange and sirloin with sun-dried tomato (ff) dressing) and 1 glass of wine. Still under my calories for the day. Only thing, when I got home I started feeling sick. I really thought I was going to lose dinner but I didn't still not feeling great today. I ate some graham cracker with 1T of pb hoping to give me a jump start. But I was really craving some type of comfort food. Don't know what. Haven't decided on lunch yet, depends on if I feel better or not. Soup or a ff hot dog.

Nursedee, I'm sure the scale will go down when you lose that water. Maybe a mininiture pb cup would have done the trick. Be careful taking Ziacam. There is something posted on Snopes about it affecting your olafactory nerves and can cause permanent loss of smell and taste. My DD was taking it last week and she commented that she couldn't taste a thing. Shrugged it off to having a cold/cough. Then last week we saw the report on it and wondered it that is what could have made here lose her taste. I think I have gotten yet another cold from my GS and I still haven't gotten over the cough from the last one. Ugh!

Toni, I have a problem getting enough veggies in also. I thought the BL ws a little combative Tuesday night. That red team was quite upset. Try a klittle cinnamon on your sweet potato and/or spray butter. Maybe some spray butter and Mrs. Dash on your veggies.

I brought my gym clothes but I'm going to have to feel a lot better to go. Plus it is our cleaning night but I may not do that either. My thighs are so sore still, I really need to get in the hot tub for awhile.

Have a great day.

Crystle, good job getting out there 2 days in a row for a walk and 2 miles too. Keep it up.

Good Morning ladies:

Nothing new to report all is well I stayed OP and worked out yesterday.

Have a goo day everyone. I just wanted to post so I stay accountable. You ladies are great.

Toni- You will love he cabbage.

Solly- I hope you feel better soon.

01-21-2010, 01:32 PM
Just a quick food tally:

Breakfast: 1/2 cup of oatmeal, banana and NSA orange juice + coffee (I cheated, thought, and put in a small spoon of brown sugar in the oatmeal...its early in the day...i'll burn it off, I reasoned)

Lunch: nsa strawberry yogurt, a handful of sandwich turkey and a 1/4 cantaloupe with big glass of water

Dinner will be pulled pork sandwiches which I will have on some WW rounds, but the family will have on steak sandwich buns. BBQ sauce may not be ideal, but I have to cook for the family, too. Will cook a baked sweet potato with and maybe a small salad.

Just got in from a stroll with my hubby. Not as fast a walk as normal but not too slow so I'm happy. Three days of getting this old body moving.

Breakfast was some greek style yogurt with splenda, agave, cinnamon and about a 1/4 cut of my hubby's nutty nibbles (generic grapenuts) :) Very tasty and very filling.

Snack has been a few cashews.

I love today's email tip. It's something I should do more often. I get hungry and inhale my food sometimes.

The Speed of Lite: Chew On This
Savor every bite and eat slowly. Digestion takes time. You may keep on eating because you still feel hungry. By taking it slow and steady, the body has time to realize it's full. This usually takes about 20 minutes -- so pace yourself. Never eat while standing. Make the meal your main focus. Instead of eating at record-setting speed, take it slow. You'll be less likely to go back for seconds when you already feel full.

Solly...sure hope this afternoon finds you feeling tons better. ((hugzz)) When I don't feel good I always crave salty things. Wonder why...hmm

Mercee..sounds like you are doing wonderful. Thanks for posting. It's nice to know how everyone is doing. And motivating to see how faithful you are at working out. It really pushes me. you make your own bbq sauce? That can help keep the sugar down. It's really simple also...ketchup...mustard...wostershire...tabasco (optional) and agave or splenda. We eat ours really sweet. :)

Toni, Kris, Scrappinhut, NurseDee, Ellen, Bob...((hugzz)) Hope ya'll are having a super day.

God bless,

Greetings, dear friends -

Well, the cold continues. Thanks for the heads up on the Zicam, Solly. In actual fact, the only product in question was the nasal gel swab. Zinc in general can disturb your taste buds for a period of time (as well as your stomach) but it isn't permanent. In fact, I believe a great injustice has been meted out to the folks at Zicam. They have produced a number of studies that have proven that their product could not have caused the problems cited (the center is back in the sinuses and is no where near where the product is applied). We used the swabs for years and it caught a cold in its tracks every single time. The current products available don't work quite as well, unfortunately. They're appealing with the FDA to reinstate the original product. I hope they win. You can't find it now anywhere at any price. I'm so sorry you got a cold back again!! These things are miserable. Mine hasn't gone as badly as my husband and daughter's have, but I can't seem to shake it either.

Solly, it sounds like you made some great food choices. I'm just sorry they made you feel poorly later. I hope all of that ill feeling is long gone now. Enjoy your bath - I live for the day when I can get in and out of a tub again. Many pounds to go, I'm afraid...

I hope I do SOON though because the new treadmill is coming today. Every time I build up a head of steam I start hacking and can't get a good breath.

Mercee, congrats on staying OP - you're great for staying accountable! I really do think it helps!

Tech, your food selections sound wonderful. Where are you getting all of these cantaloupes in the middle of winter?? I love melons.

Crystle, I really do believe that cabbage dish is going to be put into the weekly rotation. Yep, I love it that much! Keep those wonderful recipes coming.

Well, for BF I made an omelette with 1 egg and some egg beaters, mushrooms, spinach, onions, green peppers, a little canola oil, and some LF pepper jack cheese and had an apple on the side. A yummy way to start the day.

Have been noshing on some dry roasted almonds for an afternoon snack. Dinner will involve chicken and zucchini - not sure yet how. I'll be like Scarlett and think about it later. :)

Have a great OP day, everyone!

Good afternoon ladies. Getting a little late start today. Had oatmeal for breakfast. Guess I need to change up breakfast a little. Making rice in the rice cooker for stir fried brown rice and chicken for dinner with some broccoli.

Solly- Sorry you're not feeling well. Your dinner sounded wonderful. Maybe what you need is to go home and take it easy tonight. Rest and feel better tomorrow.

Mercee- Good going with staying OP. Its good to keep posting.

Kris- Eating sounds good.

Crystle- Wow you're doing great. 3 days is wonderful. I think that tip was talking to me. I'm so bad at eating fast. Even DH has commented on how fast I eat.

Dee- You're doing so well. You're just such an inspiration. Love your posts.

Okay going off to check my rice. Have a great afternoon.

Hello everyone! Please don't faint...two days in a row! :)

I took a drive over to a health food store that carries a recommended brand of brown rice flour. It is supposed to work better for baking than the easier to find brands. I need to make a loaf of gluten free, egg free bread. I like having cheese toast for breakfast, or even toast and peanut butter. I know the GF bread is higher GI than whole wheat, but I am kind of stuck. I eat brown rice cakes, but they are NOT low GI as they raise my blood sugar something awful.

Last night for dinner we had steamed broccoli and a baked chicken breast. It was pretty good. Tonight, I am serving leftovers. (my husband is going to be THRILLED...not!) I have some vegetable curry and some chili. Not sure yet which one I will eat...the curry was made with chana dal. If you all have not tried chana dal you need to. It has a VERY low GI, and is very tasty! Mendosa's site has a bunch of recipes for it. The hardest part is finding it. Indian groceries have it. It is called Bengal gram too. It is essentially a small chickpea. Num num!

I had intended to go to water aerobics this morning, but it did not work out. A friend and I are going tomorrow. The class on Fridays is called Boot Camp and lasts 1.5 hours. Half of it is in the shallow pool, and the other half is in the deep pool. Ought to be interesting!

Congrats to all the losers!

01-21-2010, 06:31 PM
Hi, Ellen! Wow! 2 days in a row!! You're beating my record! ;)

I'd love to hear how the bread turns out. I REALLY miss bread and am not sure if any bread would still be a trigger food, but I haven't had any in weeks. In the weeks before that I just had pumpernickel or Arnold ww sandwich thins. I hear what you say about the rice cakes. Doesn't matter if they're purple - my BS goes through the roof

I LOVE chickpeas! Do you buy the chana dal canned? Or do you have to soak and cook it. Can you tell me where Mendosa's site is? I'm always interested in new recipes (just ask Crystle - haha)

For tonight I decided to throw in some frozen boneless/skinless chicken breasts in the crock pot on speedcook, and layered them with frozen spinach, bacon shreds (just 3 slices in the whole batch - about 55 calories), sliced mushrooms, 5-cheese shredded Italian and part-skim mozzarella, with spaghetti sauce over the top (I'm into layers). I'll probably cook egg noodles for the family, zucchini slices for me.

Toni, you made me hungry for oatmeal so I made some for lunch. I added cottage cheese for some protein and some sf maple syrup and a little light butter. I hope I don't regret it at my next blood sugar because it was SUCH a TREAT! Stir fry sounds awesome...I just can't have rice of any kind yet. Even brown jacks up my sugars :(. But when I can I'll really enjoy having a good stir fry.

Crystle: how do you eat a few cashews? Please teach me! They're like a narcotic to me. I can polish off a whole bag of them before I knew what hit me. Oh they're my FAVORITE nut...which is why I snack on almonds! LOL Thanks for the tip of the day. I, too, found it was right up my alley. Lately I've been having real trouble with this, always being afraid I'll still be hungry so polishing something off when I could have stopped about 1/3 of the way back, and then regretting it. I'll try to be more mindful of this come dinner time. Thanks again.

Scrappinhut, Bob, miss you. Hope you're doing OK!

Have a wonderful evening, everybody. Thanks again for running this thread. I really look forward to seeing how everyone is. It's a big help to me.

01-21-2010, 08:46 PM
Just a  and to brag about dinner. My pulled pork BBQ was divine and I didn't even mind it on the WW rounds. I had a nice salad with lots of green peppers on it. I'm washing it down with lots of water.

Okay...replies on the morrow... TTFN!!

01-22-2010, 09:38 AM
Hi ladies, feeling better but not quite great. I started to stay home but that conscience gets me every time, even though I have 35 days. I guess it was the way I was raised and raised my children. If your not throwing up or have a fever, off you go. My boss is out today so I am thinking I will only work half a day. We will see. We are slow. I didn't go to the gym and even though I wasn't up to it, it makes me feel bad. Plus that stupid scale has me up 3 pounds today. I guess I should put it away and just weigh once a week. I didn't eat much yesterday. A hot dog (ff) and a cup of tomato soup. Dinner was a very small baked potato (thought it might help) and some fish sticks. It's frustrating. I am not going to weigh again until WIW.

We have a dinner with some old friends (13) tonight and I organized it so I have to go. Think I will do a steak, veggies and a salad or chicken.

Cystle, good job getting that walk in again. When I walk with my Dh, he does not walk a fast pace either. I was totally craving bean soup and cornbread last night. I'm a fast eater, I need to work on slowing down.

Mercee, you are such an inspiration. Good job.

Tech, I love your thinking (I'll burn it off.) Have you tried the Splenda brown sugar blend?

Nursedee, thanks for the info on zicam. I envy you getting a new :tread: I was thinking of getting one. They have some good deals right now. Even though we belong to the gym, I would like to have one at home. How did your chicken turn out? Was your spinach still frozen when you put it in?

Toni, you are right on track with your eating. Now we just have to make it through the weekend. We can do it.

Ellen, anxious to hear how your boot camp went. That would be the only way I could do one, inthe water. Those things are killers (the regular ones) but boy do they reshape your body. You are doing great with your food problems finding things to eat. I wish you good get it figured out.

Have a great weekend. If my DD gets her air card loaded and working I may be able to get on her over the weekend.

01-22-2010, 11:24 AM
Morning Ladies:

How is everyone! I had a good day yesterday. I had a salad for dinne it was great. Tonight I'll have some leftovers.

Solly- You sound like me. I hardly ever miss work. I have 25 vacation days still. (they roll over). I'm sure you will see a loss on Wednesday.

Nursedee- I agree the cabbage dish will be a staple in our home as well. I love having my treadmill it is one of the best investments I have made in myself in a long time. I workout 4 -5 days a week on it.

Toni, Tech, Crystle, Ellen- Howdy and wishing you the best

Have a great day everyone.

01-22-2010, 02:16 PM
'Afternoon all-

I'm really sick today so I won't be on the board for the rest of the day. I feel like I'm coming down with pneumonia. No fever yet but lungs are a <i>mess</i>. Still OP, fasting blood sugar 118 - terrific in light of the infection, but I feel YUCK. Hoping everybody has a good day! Hope to catch up on the weekend sometime.

01-22-2010, 02:35 PM

2 eggs scrambled with some green peppers, 1/4 cantaloupe and coffee

Couple slices of turkey, small salad and a banana with a large glass of water.

Chili with a salad

Snacks include peanuts...which I'm about to partake in now... :s:

Dee: sound like you feel like crap. Take care of yourself!

Mercee: Someone told me once that there is such a thing as too much salad. i don't know what world they were from, but it wasn't mine!

Solly: In my bountiful experience ( :lol3: ), I have found that if I eat less, I gain. Especially when I'm sick. As for going to work sick... I tend to be that way, too, until my boss yelled at me and said, "You know, we don't want your germs...if your sick, STAY HOME!" He was an very anal man, but it put it in a different perspective for me by thinking of the others I could be making sick. Glad you're feeling better!

 to everyone else!!

I'm off to have some tea and read a book...and eat peanuts. TTFN!!

01-22-2010, 03:02 PM
Howdy ya'll. I only have a minute today but I wanted to pop in and say hi. I hope and pray ya'll are having a super day. It is beautiful here but I probably won't get a chance to walk. Plus the lazy side of me is kinda glad. :)

A tip from the email:

Gentle Reminders To Help You Along
Use 5 by 7 note cards with daily reminders. Once you devise a list of healthy habits, write them down and post them throughout the house. Whether it's on the bathroom mirror or on the refrigerator door, plastering your goals in different places will keep your goals fresh in your mind. These gentle reminders are a great way to help you stay on top of things.

God bless,

01-22-2010, 03:47 PM
Good afternoon. All is fine here. Had oatmeal for breakfast. I boiled some eggs for a snack and made some sugarfree jello. Trying to get stuff around for when I'm hungry. Dinner last night was good. Stir fried brown rice and chicken. Tonight is soup.

Solly- I hope you get over not feeling well this week end. You should have stayed home and rested. Have a nice dinner with your friends.

Ellen- How did the bootcamp go? Your food sounds so wonderful. You're so strong. I can't believe how hard you have it with food and you constantly rise to the occasion.

Kris- Eating is good. I love pulled pork.

Mercee- Have a great day.

Crystle- Sounds like you're busy. Hope you have a good OP day.

NurseDee- I hope you get better soon. Rest well.

Try to get plenty of water in ladies.... Happy day.

01-22-2010, 06:26 PM
Ok, everyone was asking about boot camp, and I am ashamed to report I did not make it! I had a hard time falling asleep last night and just could not get there for class this morning. I took a nap instead, then went and met Tom for lunch. I was really proud of myself! The restaurant is kind of a yuppie type place, and they have all kinds of stuff- burgers, sandwiches, lots of salads (most with eggs! :( ) steaks, etc. I got a sauteed sole entree with steamed veggies, and it came with little bitty yukon potatoes boiled. I know potatoes are not ok for Sugarbusters, but since I don't do wheat, I tend to be a bit lax in that area...they were pretty good. I think they were boiled with garlic because they tasted very garlicy. The lunch was really good. And I walked out of there with a bounce in my step because I did not get anything I regretted. No fries, no breads, no eggs....

I just finished making a loaf of gluten free bread. Its hard to do without eggs, but it seems ok. It is fairly light, so I hope I don't get to the middle and find it collapsed- a problem I have read about but not had happen yet. I also have some English muffins raising. Gluten free of course... I can have one with peanut butter for breakfast! Breakfast is the hardest meal for me to do with the no eggs, no gluten.

This morning my blood sugar level was the best I have seen in a long time. (104) I was super excited after the terrible time I had yesterday trying to get it down from 249. We walked last night after dinner, and according to an author I am reading right now, that is one of the main differences between the Americans and the French, who are slimmer. Strolling after dinner is very very good for you. That and don't eat 3 hours before bed.

I hope every one has a great weekend!

And there you have it...THREE days in a row! :)

01-22-2010, 06:32 PM
TECH: Ditto what you said about going to work sick...I have Lupus and when people go out sick they can give me whatever it is they have and it can SERIOUSLY jeopardize my health. Right now I have a cold I got compliments the three year old son of a friend...she brought him to a meeting at my house, and the kid's nose was a fountain! Then...he sneezed right in my face. ARGH

SOLLY: If you are sick, you really should rest...stay home, for your sake and the rest of us. See what I wrote to Tech above!

01-23-2010, 12:08 PM
Fixing to start my day and thought I'd pop in and say howdy. Not sure what we are going to do this weekend. Maybe a few flea markets or junk yards just to do something different. Things are a little stressful so I'm trying to stay away from the kitchen. I've found myself stuffing my emotions with bits of food. Knowing what you are doing and stopping it are two different things. But at least acknowledging a problem is the first step to fixing it, right? :) Yesterday's eating was mostly legal just TOO much. So far today so good.

Praying for those of you who aren't feeling well. ((hugzz))

Love and hugs,

01-23-2010, 04:31 PM
Happy Saturday all. Are you all busy? Had oatmeal for breakfast and pretty soon think I'll have a boiled egg and a handful of walnuts for a snack. Tonight I'm makeing ham and cheese omelets for dinner. I'll have mine with broccoli on the side and maybe a piece of whole grain toast.

Ellen- You did just great on lunch. You should be really proud of yourself. I can't imagine making bread without an egg in it. Keep up the good work.

Crystle- I have a hard time when under stress eating right and not picking at food. I use food for my emotions. Hang tough girl.

01-23-2010, 05:11 PM
Well, last night Kyle had a sleepover so I took Shelley out to dinner (on money that we really don't have). I had broiled haddock and steamed green beans and a YUMMY salad with a diet coke. It was triumphant for me because fish fries with cole slaw and french fries have long been a favorite of mine, but I got the broiled/steamed stuff instead. It was so good. I brought home wings for Derek.

This morning I had what I had yesterday for breakfast, Two eggs scrambled with green pepper and 1/4 cantaloupe. Lunch was turkey on a WW round with mustard adn lettuce. I had a banana for a snack.

So, Kyle has developed a really active social life. Last night he took the bus home with a friend and stayed overnight, then they went swimming at the school pool and I met them there. Then tomorrow another friend of his is coming over after church (their church is right across the street from me and he'll be dropped off after mass) and staying till about 3. This afternoon, he's just chillin out. He gets grumpy with too much friend time...he's always been so independent when playing, he needs time to do 'his things'.

Shelley has been in her jammies all weekend, but we are both venturing out to the new Super Walmart in a minute to buy some groceries. I like Walmart for the 'inner aisle' stuff, but the produce is a little weak adn most of the meat is bleh! Chicken is usually okay, but the steaks and pork chops are unacceptable to me. I can't explain's just yuck.

I might sneak in a new shirt or two if ihave the spare cash. :s:

Anyhow...I'm off...will be back later. TTFN!!

Toni: I need to buy some walnuts and some WW or stoneground flour. I LOVE to make pancakes with it, put walnuts in the mix and top with with NSA applesauce instead of maple syrup. Healthy and it feels like i'm eating something totally bad for my diet.

01-23-2010, 09:40 PM

BOB!!!! :faint: I miss you!!

Every friggen Saturday night. Shelley makes cookies. And I eat a dozen. My weakness. :( Off to bed.

01-24-2010, 12:10 AM
Darn Bob that sounds really good. You have the best darn recipes.

Kris- Quit eating those darn cookies!!!

Dinner was good. I also had a couple of clementines for dessert.

NurseDee- I hope you're feeling better.

01-24-2010, 11:38 AM
Hello everyone! Yesterday was a rather busy day. I met my older daughter and her husband for lunch at Red Lobster. It was lovely...they paid! I got to sit next to my granddaughter...she will be one in a week! She was in a very good mood and laughed and smiled and waved at everyone who walked by. In addition to the lovely company, I did very well on what I ate. I had broiled flounder, a salad, and a small baked potato. I did not eat any gluten for me! And the salad dressing they brought on the side and I only used half. I ate all of the potato, but since I don't eat any bread now, I think its ok. My blood sugar levels were good so it was not too bad.

Dinner last night was an oven roasted chicken and green beans. I made a veggie stuffing with a small amount of gluten free bread in it and an egg replacer. It turned out ok, but I gave most of it to Tom. The chicken was the smallest fryer I have seen in a long time! Less than three pounds! It was perfect for the two of us for dinner. :) After dinner, we went to the store to pick up a few items and spent 15 minutes walking the perimeter of the store before picking up our items. That makes three nights in a row we have walked after dinner, and I think it has helped a lot!

It is cold and rainy again today. I am so ready for some sunshine! Yesterday, I was appalled that it was warmer in my hometown outside Chicago than it was here!

 I am trying to get into the habit of posting more often, so I hope to be back soon.

TECH: Just say NO to those cookies! Have her make a kind you don't like!

BOB: That was a drive by reciping...stop and chat!

01-24-2010, 02:53 PM
Well I slept in late and I'm all mixed up. Haven't even had breakfast yet and its after noon. Need to set my alarm and start getting up sooner. Hopefully tomorrow I'll start walking the treadmill. I've been really talking to myself lately about getting some exercise. LOL Thawing out pork chops for dinner. Just went out on the porch and the river is really up here. We've had rain the past couple of days.

Ellen- You did great at Red Lobster. Thats really good the potato didn't raise your blood sugar.

Guess I'd better get busy. Happy day.

01-24-2010, 06:09 PM
Good afternoon. Yesterday was a pretty full day. Robert and I went to the flea market and a little resale shop. We didn't find anything but it was nice having quiet time together. We also went for a late lunch at a cajun hole in the wall. :) I was only good because the boudin balls were too smushy to eat..LOL So I ended up eating a salad, and some awesome yellow squash. I did sneak two of Robert's onions rings. He had the every thing fried, taste so good plate. :) Dinner I kinda bombed on because I had spaghetti but at least it was only a serving. Today has been much better on the eating front.

Earlier I hung a couple of loads of clothes. The wind was blowing pretty hard so they dried pretty fast. The whites smell wonderful. There is nothing like bleach and fresh air to perk up the towels. I should be out there walking but I am tired. We watched little man until after 3 last night. By the time we got home and in bed it was almost 4:30. Speaking of little man he was too precious. Britt told me he wouldn't probably wake up except to eat and wouldn't even open his eyes. Well, he had other plans. I was patting his back trying to settle him back down and he figured out it was me and started grinning. I couldn't help myself so I chuckled. Then he chuckled back at me. He woke up only for about 15 minutes, but they were wonderful. Four ounces later he was out until right before they came home.

Today's tip is from one of my email devotionals but I thought it really applies to weight loss and exercise:

You will never "find" time for anything. If you want time, you must make it.

Often times we hear ourselves suggest that we need to "find" time to get together with old friends, to get into shape or to do something you have been putting off for a long time. Make a commitment to yourself today that this week you will "make" the time. While you're at it, make it pleasing to God.

Ellen...what a fun time with the kiddos. I think potato from time to time is actually good for you. There are nutrient in potatoes that are good for us. Keeping the potion small is key. I especially like the little red and white ones. I think I read some where they are better for us than the baking kind but not 100 percent sure on that one. Tonight we are mixing cauliflower with potato to make smashed potatoes.

Toni...Does it flood where you live? I hope the river goes down soon. I hope you are talking to yourself about exercising you are being pushy. :)

Tech...I would LOVE a cookie right about now. I've been craving something sweet. Thank goodness there are none in the house. You make great choices when you went out. WTG

Bob..thanks for the recipe. I can't get enough recipes.

NurseDee...hope you are feeling better. ((hugzz))

Solly...hope you too are feeling better. ((hugzz))

Scrappinhut...hope all is well with you.

Mercee...sending good thoughts your way.

God bless,

Evening! (twice in one day! oh dear! )

I made a very large pot of chicken veggie soup today. I put lots of chicken in it, zucchini, green beans, lima beans, lentils, carrots, celery, and even some corn. I was planning on sharing it with a couple with a new baby. I have enough for three meals for us, and probably two for the couple. Tomorrow I will make some muffins to go with theirs and run it over there. I can't wait to see the baby! This couple has had a heartbreaking few years...they had several miscarriages and so my heart is ready to burst with happiness for them!

COUNTRY: That is so true about 'making' time. I need to remember that. You know they say, failing to plan is planning to fail. I need to make a commitment to be more regular with my quiet times too. Thanks for the reminder.

TONI: I hate when I sleep late and my schedule gets all out of whack. This book I am reading right now talks about how VERY important breakfast is...and I feel very convicted. I am trying to get up and eat breakfast every morning - even the ones I go to Water Aerobics at 8! I hope it becomes a habit. Keep talking to yourself about that treadmill! Even if you only do ten minutes a day, you will benefit! It rained and rained here...I hope the river is not a danger for you.

01-25-2010, 12:06 AM
Oh my gosh I'm so hungry. And its 10:00 and to late to eat anything. Its so hard to keep from cheating, so I came here to post instead. I may need to add in a salad to make my meals more filling.

Crystle- I love to go to flea markets. I haven't gone in years. Any luck finding a treadmill? Lined dried clothes are so nice, especially sheets.

Ellen- How nice to take the couple soup and muffins. I'll bet they really like it and it will be so welcome. We live on a hill so the river never comes up here. Its beautiful to watch though.

Well back to my water. Wish it was bed time.

01-25-2010, 09:24 AM
Good morning! I just finished breakfast. I had two gluten free, egg free waffles with peanut butter on them and a big mug of green tea. I am going to the ten am water aerobics class so I have a little time to kill before I have to get ready. I am feeling really sleepy, and its tempting to go crawl back in bed. If I hadn't had those waffles, I would! I am hoping the green tea will have enough caffeine to keep me awake until I can go jump in the pool. I am never sleepy in the pool or after class. Its such a great workout! I will check in after I get back!

TONI: Next time that hunger thing happens to you, try a mild ten minute stroll. It would stimulate your system and turn off the hunger messages.

MOrning ladies

Weekend was filled with lots of basketball and lots of football. Even though I sat around most of the weekend, I still don't feel good. It comes and goes all through the day.
I'm a huge Colts fan so I am pulling for them, but I also really like the Saints. It should be a good game.

Ellen, you did great with your eating. I need some of your willpower. Glad you had a nice dinner with your GD. That is such a cute age. Glad your BS is so good. Keep up the good work.

Crystle, Nothing like that little angelic face grinning up at you. It sure melts your heart. I think that is how they get us to do everything for them. My little one sure knows me. He always breaks out in such a hugh smile whe he sees me.

Nursedee, hope you are feeling better today.

Toni, is it snowing there. I am sick of rain. Now they are calling for snow fluuries all week. Come on summer. Gotten nthat :tread: yet today?

Tech, Stay out of the cookies or don't let he make them. I'm sure they are not good for her either. Wasn't see watching her diet also a while back?

BOB, thanks for the recipe, but come on and post. How about those CATS!!!! #1

Mercee, hope you had a good weekend. I need some of your motivation to get to the gym.

Sorry my posts are short, I just don't have much umph! I will try to get back later. I am trying a new recipe for dinner. Crispy chicken fingers. Low fat, I will let you know.

Important discovery. Trigger foods. One cookie leads to a couple dozen. They're just the best cookies she's ever made...shortbread cookies and they tasted exactly like the ScotTeas from Girl Scouts which are about my favorite cookies in the world. The kind that go so well with a cuppa coffee or tea. So, yesterday I had cookies for breakfast and cookies for lunch. Dinner was a baked chicken that was so yummy. I cooked it in a little marinade of EVOO, poultry seasoning and a splash of white wine and stuffed it with carrots and onions. I also roasted some potatoes which I had just a little of and some corn and green beans cooked together.

This morning, I weighed myself and have stayed the exact same as Friday. Will move the ticker on Wednesday Weigh In, but the scale says 193.

Breakfast was:

1 cup Kashi Go Lean crunch
1/2 cup of 1% milk
1 green-tipped banana
coffee with splenda and 1/2 n 1/2

Lunch will be decided when I get to it.

Funny thing today, it is raining cats, dogs, pigs and ferrets today. I told Shelley to check the TV to be sure there wasn't any problems with schools today, just to be sure. I hear OH...MY...GAWD! Kyle's school is closed today because the basement's flooded, but the rest of the district is open, so Shelley had to go in. She wasn't pleased, to say the least, but I got a good laugh out of it. So, I have my lovely Kyle home with me today and we'll probably watch a movie and play some games. :D

I have been helping Shelley with a health project on counting calories and I'm thinking of doing a hybrid version of Sugar Busters where I'm counting the calories, but making sure the food involved is SB legal. For instance, they make no bones about eating white bread, but I'm going for the stone ground wheat bread...sticking to green-tipped bananas...steering clear of bagels, etc. I'm goign to try and stick to 1400 calories for now. We'll see...

Solly...I was on a fence with the vikings/saints game until I saw all the dirty late hits on Brett Favre. I just think a game should be won on skill, not on playing dirty pool. When they say there were a lot of hits on Favre, but no sack logged, it says something, to me. So, toward the end, I was really rooting for the Vikings. But now that I am mad at the Saints, it will be fun to watch the Colts mop the floor with them. I'm a HUGE Payton Manning fan. I even have his jersey! So, I'm happy to see him going to the Super Bowl again. I'm goign to cook up a feast of SB legal pita chips and home made salsa and have a little ole party that day!! GO COLTS!!

Ellen: I am so sad for you with the added diet restrictions. Its like, "here, here's your celery...its all you can eat now!" I can't even imagine what a gluten free, egg free waffle must be like...but if anyone can do it justice, its you. I used to take water aerobics back in the 90's when I lived near a Y. After, I'd use the weight room. It was nice. Try this if you have the time...two empty milk jugs and go in the deep end. With one jug in each hand, spread your arms our like you're being crucified. Then lift your legs in front of you so your toes come out of the water, then as fast as you can, push them out behind you back and forth. Then go side to side, then try log rolls. Its fun and so good for you tummy!

Toni: When I get hungry late at night, i drink a cuppa tea...decaf! or guzzle a huge glass of water. And i get to sleep as fast as possible.

Crystle: I can't wait to hang my wash out. There's nothing like it. Good going at the Cajun dive restaurant. I would be completely to the deepfried platter. you did well to only have two onion rings. :D

Okay..I have to go get my bra on so i can do an exercise video. i was really enjoying the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, but its not On Demand I'm Walking away the Pounds with Leslie instead.

Don't forget to drink your water!!

Well I made it through without eating. Thank goodness. I had water and I had tea but nothing seemed to help. Going to visit my sister tomorrow. She had gastric bypass and has lost allot of weight and I can't wait to see her. Then we're going to a healthy mexican place to eat. I've already picked out my burrito its made with all veggies and is in the 300 calorie range. You can also tell them what to put on the burrito and they'll make them to order. So I could add chicken if I wanted. But the one I'm having has different kind of squashes grilled.

Ellen- Have a good time at water aerobics today. Wish there was a place around here to do that. I can't imagine what a workout you get. I can't even imagine how you would make that waffle. But I'm with Kris if anybody could make it it would be you.

Solly- Today is the day I'm going to walk on the treadmill. I got it all ready last night. Now I wish DH would get out of the bed so I could use it. No snowflakes yet but we're supposed to get some today. Can't wait to hear how the chicken comes out.

Kris- Wow I could not have those cookies around. Homemade cookies are my weakness. I can't even have a store bought cookie in the house. You should lose by Wed. for sure. I'm scared to get on the scale till Wed. cause it would cause me grief if I gained. I'm hoping so much for a loss this week. Sounds like you have a plan in mind. Here's wishing you luck on it.

Well guess I'll go and finish my coffee and wait for lazy DH to get up.

01-25-2010, 01:13 PM
Well, breakfast was 545 calories. is that a lot? lunch, a yogurt, 1/4 cantaloupe and an apple is much lower at 180 calories.

01-25-2010, 01:16 PM
Breakfast was delicious. I had asparagus with chopped tomato. The guys had fried eggs and cheddar cheese with theirs. :) The cauliflower/potatoes came out great last night. One head of cauliflower, five medium potatoes cooked until tender. Added some olive oil maragarine and garlic. That was it. My little one still forgets there are potatoes in it. I over indulged in the meatload but man oh man it was good. I am a meatloaf lover. :)

It is totally beautiful outside again today. Most of the week is suppose to be near 70 I think. Should be able to walk some if I can get motivated.

Email tip:

The Sleep and Weight-Loss Connection
Sleep easy. Many people aren't aware of the correlation between getting enough rest and losing weight. One study shows that lack of sleep disturbs metabolic and hormonal process, increasing hunger and making it harder to drop those extra pounds. Another study showed the less people slept, the more they weighed. Try to get seven to nine hours of shut-eye a night.

Toni...hang in there. I'm not expecting a loss this week currently because the scales are actually up a smidge. We can't let the numbers get us down. It's about being healthy as much as it is about losing weight. But I'm sure you'll see a good number. Have fun with your sister. The food choice sounds great.

Tech...have you tried the white wheat with your family? My son is a not way wheat and I can give him the white wheat. I'm guilty of sticking with the white for them just because of the cost. Same thing with tortillas. They make the unhealthy stuff so much cheaper.

Solly...sorry you are still feeling poorly. ((hugzz))

Ellen...wished I lived closer, you stew sounds wonderful. What a blessing you are to those around you sharing meals. You don't see a lot of the younger generation doing that any more. I hope that those you bless will continue the tradition.

Gotta run but hope to be back on later.

God bless,

Hello everyone! Water aerobics was great! It usually is.... I LOVE it. :)

I came home and heated up a bowl of soup and ate some gluten free flax seed crackers with it. It was pretty good, but I don't feel very satisfied. I want to try and wait a few hours and have a small snack. Maybe some carrots, and celery.

Thank you all for those wonderful assumptions that I made the waffles myself! They were Van's frozen...they carry them at my grocery store. :) They are wheat free and egg free, and very easy to fix for a quick breakfast. I don't like to do it too often though, because I know they are high glycemic. After class, my blood sugar was still on the high side from them.

COUNTRY: I wish you lived closer too! We could walk together! Our church has a web page to sign up to take meals to folks needing it. Its really fun to be able to sign up that way. In the last two weeks, there were three babies born and one adopted! And its NOT a big church! (but in a few years as these kids grow up..haha!) We also have a man who just started chemo for a lymphoma in his abdomen that is not operable. There are plenty of opportunites to minister with meals...I try and sign up as often as I can since when my kids were born, folks brought us meals and it was such a help!

TECH: Good advice I have read is this: For breakfast eat like a king, lunch like a commoner, and dinner like a pauper. So if you are eating 1400 calories a day, 500 of them at breakfast seems reasonable to me. I big breakfast sets the stage so to speak, and gets the metabolism woken up and running.... In water aerobics, we use bouys, or water bells, and do those shoot throughs. I bought a pair of the water bells when I was going to the gym for water aerobics a couple years ago, so I use them in my swimming pool in the summer. It is a great workout! And the water resistance really helps tone ALL your muscles and burn more energy.

TONI: Good for you not eating! Next time you are faced with that situation, just remind yourself you CAN do it! :) On the water aerobics, check into it! Does your county have an aquatic center? Mine has four or five...but we are pretty urban. Most areas have something. Are there any YMCAs around? You really would love it, and its very good for you. Its low impact, but really burns the calories. I have NO idea how they make these waffles..they are very light and crisp. I sure wish I had the recipe.

SOLLY: I am sorry you are not feeling up to snuff. I hope you are over whatever it is soon. Not having umph is not like you! You always seem to be on the go. I am not so sure I have much willpower. Not eating eggs and wheat just really curtails what I CAN eat. That is why I fudge on the corn and potatoes some. How old is your GS now? We are having my granddaughter's one year birthday party here. My daughter wants me to make the cake. I said yes. At least I like the it won't be a chore, but I can't have any of it at all! Its going to be hard....

Ok, I am off to find a good muffin recipe and get this show on the road!

01-25-2010, 03:09 PM
Just had a snack:

Cheese - 120 calories
granola bar - 180 calories

i have to get some SB legal granola bars.....and lower in calories.

I'm left with about 400 calories for dinner. Looks like it will be dominated by a salad... ;)

01-25-2010, 04:08 PM
Woopie I did it. Walked on my treadmill finally. I'll try to do a little more later this evening.

01-25-2010, 04:14 PM
Just burned 265 calories with Leslie Sansone for the 2-mile walk. I like her so much better than Jillian Michaels. She's so much nicer and I just sweat more than I have doing an exercise video ever. It was awesome. And I didn't feel like my eyes were goign to pop out of my head. LOL

Toni: Go girl!! :treadmill:

Ellen: I like the eating parameter. Good guidelines!

Off to thaw out some chicken for dinner to go with my salad.

01-25-2010, 08:49 PM
Hi Ladies: I had a great week end. This board has been buzzing. However I don't have time to read post right now. I will read them Later. I am getting ready to go out to dinner with my hubby and I'll will stay OP. I just wanted to check in. Today is my birthday and this weekend I will go out with my family to celebrate. Tonight is me and my DH special date, we always do this for each others birthday. Have a great evening all.

01-25-2010, 09:12 PM
Dinner was good. And DH even did the dishes. So now for a relaxing evening if my little boston terrier, Jackson would just behave.

Kris- Hope your chicken turned out good. That was great you liked your exercise video.

Mercee-:balloons: Happy Birthday. Hope you have a wonderful dinner with your DH.

Ellen- Wish I had somewhere to go. I live in a town of 600 people. We don't have a thing around here to exercise with others. Guess the treadmill will have to do. Bet you make your Granddaughter a darling cake. Sounds like you're doing allot of cooking.

Crystle- Yum your breakfast sounds good. Wish we had your weather, its freezeing here and we're expecting snow the end of the week.

Have a nice evening all.

01-25-2010, 11:29 PM
:balloons: Happy Birthday, Mercee! :balloons:

01-25-2010, 11:35 PM
Dinner was good tonight, but I was not! :o I made some muffins to take to the new parents, but I left some here for our dinner. We had a new small group for church starting tonight so I wanted something fast and easy for dinner. I ate three of the gluten free corn muffins I made. oink! I had some cut strawberries at the meeting. Other than that, it was not too bad a day!

MERCEE: Where are you outside Chicago? I grew up in Oak Park and still have family there. Next time I am up there to visit, if you are anywhere near there, we should meet for lunch. I always get together with a couple of the mods on here that live up there too... I hope you have a wonderful birthday!

TONI: :bravo::cp::cp::cp::cb::carrot::broc::cheer::cheer 3::cheer3::cheer2::cheer2: Way to go on getting on the treadmill! I bet you feel pretty good right now! You should...

01-25-2010, 11:57 PM
Well, according to my calculations, I had 1245 calories today. i didn't leave anythign out. i had lots of water. I exercised with Leslie for half an hour. Today is done...I think i did well. Tomorrow i will try to do the same.

Good night!

01-26-2010, 09:50 AM
Well, this morning was almost a duplicate of yesterday morning, except I had half a banana instead of the whole thing. They're giant bananas. This gives me 470 calories for the morning.

I peeked at the scale this morning and it said I was down to 191. i won't make it official, though, until tomorrow's WIW.

Okay...see you guys in a little bit!!

01-26-2010, 10:34 AM
Hi ladies, Still not feeling great. I think I may have a sinus infection. I am a little dizzy and my face hurts a little. Plus I blow my nose like its a gallon tank.
The chicken tenders were good, I made them with Total cereal rather than corn flakes thinking that would be better for me. I dipped them in egg beaters rather than a real egg. You mix hone or agave and mustard in witht the egg and dip the chicken and then roll i n the orn flakes. Bake at 450 until done. If I make them again, I will try the corn flakes. Made some chicken salad with lots of celery and onions and lowfat mayo with the leftover chicken.

I did work out for 30 minutes in the basement. We have a big exercise machine and a bench and weights and big balls. So I got a decent workout in. Then I hit the couch.

We got a dusting of snow today, but the roads are a sheet of ice. It took me 45 minutes to get to work and one girl has been on the road for 2 hours and turned around and went home. Crazy. I think the traveled roads have melted and froze again.

Tech, You are doing sorta of what I do. I try to stay around 1300 calories and incorporate the sugar buster principles. Salads can add up in calories too. are you using a calories coutner on line? I use Spark People, it is great. I think I would have to forbid Shelley from making cookies. I hope they are all gone. I eat the Fiber One bars. They have 120 calories but have antioxidents, etc.

Toni, good job not eating. I knew you could do it. Have a nice visit with your sister. :cheer: WTG gettin ont he :tread: Keep it up.

Crystle, I love eatloaf. I need to make one. I was trying so hard to avoid the scale until tomorrow, but I caved this morning and I was up 1 pound Hope it disappears and takes a friend with it by tomorrow.

Ellen, my GS is 6 months old. He is at such a cute age. Only you can make your food restrictions work. If it were me, I would be eating carrots and starving all the time. I know your cake will be adorable and delish.

Mercee, Happy Birthday :balloons: Hope you had a great date.

Ok better go log my food and get some work done. Have a great OP day

01-26-2010, 11:17 AM
I'm not looking forward to weighing in tomorrow. This is one of those weeks where accountability doesn't seem so fun. :) This weekend was not a great eating weekend. It wasn't horrible but it had its moments.

I like today's email tip but could never follow it..LOL List or no list I will deviate.

Smart Grocery Shopping Steps
Create a shopping list. This is your blueprint for getting through the grocery store without the extra garbage. Those Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies aren't on your list -- so they shouldn't be in your cart. Shop off your list and leave all the other incidentals out. Plan out your meals for the week and purchase only what you need. When you're armed with specifics, you'll be less likely to buy unhealthy foods on impulse. Before you even enter the store, make a pact with yourself that you'll only buy the foods you intended.'s going to be cold here by the end of the week. I"m soaking up the warmth while I can. :) Awesome that you got on the treadmill. :carrot: I haven't found one yet.

Solly...I bet you'll get a nice surprise tomorrow. That pound will leave along with a couple of friends. Your eating sounds like it has been really good.

NurseDee...I hope you absence doesn't mean you are still feeling poorly. ((hugzz)) Looking forward to your return.

Ellen...You must have been craving something if you ate three muffins, or they were really good. :) I would opt for really good and I would have been hard pressed to eat just one.

Mercee...Happy Belated Birthday!!! I hope you had a fantastic day.

Tech...wish some of your drive would rub off on me. You are doing GREAT.

Scrappinhut....where are you? Hope all is okay.

God bless,

01-26-2010, 11:41 AM
Morning ladies:

I had a wonderful day yesterday. My hubby and I had a great date. Thanks so much for the birthday wishes from all of you.

Toni-- Great wok on you treadmill. I wouldn't trade mine in for the world.

Ellen- I am familiar with Oak Park. We live further south but I would love for us to get together. We were just in Oak Park at Christmas visiting one of my husband"s relatives. I have a friend who has celiac disease and she's been on the gluten free diet for 4 years and she is doing great. I'm sure you will do well.

Tech -- I hope you have a great WIW tomorrow.

Solly- I hate sinus infections I hope you feel better soon. Our weather here is like yours we got 1 inch of snow and the cold so the roads here are slippery as heck. I'm ready for winter to be gone.

Crystle- Your shopping list tip is great however I could never just follow a list. LOL

Well ladies I am out of here. I hope we all are losers on tomorrow. Have a great day everyone.

Nursdee and scrappinhut- I hope all is well with you.

01-26-2010, 02:02 PM

2 scrambed eggs with mushrooms and green peppers, a medium apple and some raw baby carrots. And a big glass of water.

I walked two miles with my new friend, Leslie (sansone) and sweat like a pig.

Off to take a shower. I have to add up my numbers for my shop from last year so we can do our taxes.

01-26-2010, 11:24 PM
Evening everyone! I went to the farmer's market today with my friend who is a celiac. Her son has Crohns, so the whole family eats gluten free. We had a nice time. I got some fish, and some essentials. Tonight for dinner I made monkfish on lentils. It was good, but I don't know if I agree that monkfish is poor man's lobster. After I bought it I read that it is on the avoid list from Monterrey Bay Aquarium because of the way it is disrupts the sea floor and catches turtles and other sea mammals causes death and over fishing. Sheesh. Its hard to do the right thing all the time.

At the market I bought some cottage cheese. Its gluten free (many are not..modified food starch is wheat and has gluten in it! :yikes: ) and I am hoping it will be a nice addition to breakfast.

Tomorrow is my silk painting guild meeting. I am planning on water aerobics before that.

I am late getting on here, and don't have time for replies. I will try and do that in the afternoon tomorrow after the silk ladies leave.

01-26-2010, 11:57 PM
Hi I am late getting on here too. We've been gone out of town to see my sister and got back this evening. I'm tired. I hope we all do good with our weigh in. Have a good night.

01-27-2010, 10:13 AM
Happy WIW

I hope the scale is good to everyone. For me, I stayed the same. I will take, Exercise has been minimal this week.

Toni, how was your visit with yoru sister? How does she look?

Ellen, you are amazing. With all your restrictions, you find ways to make it work. Have fun with your silk painting.

Tech, I always liked Leslie. I could probably do that with my foot. No high impact.

Mercee, glad you had a great date night. I hate winter too. It is supposed to be icy again tomorrow and lots of snow on Friday. Ugh! I have 2 doctor appts I don't want to miss.

Crystle, I bet you will be ok for WIW. Hang in there, let it be your motivation. Your tip is good but almost impossible. Everytime I try it (when money is tight) I always come out with lots more.

I will be on here late tomorrow as I have to get a shot before I come in. I will try to get back later to see how everyone has done. I'm sure great.
It will be one month soon. That is a big date we should be seeing some differences in clothes etc. We can do this.

01-27-2010, 10:41 AM
I went to the pool this morning for water aerobics, and it was closed due to 'contamination'. I don't think I want to know....

So I came home and had some cottage cheese and Polaner all fruit for breakfast, with a nice Minneola orange I got at the market yesterday. I am sipping my espresso as I type. I did not even think about it being weigh in Wednesday. I will weigh in tomorrow...if I remember...

TONI: I hope you had a good visit with your sister. I was kind of wondering where you were, but I remembered you said something about visiting your sister, so I was not worried. :)

SOLLY: Staying the same sometimes is a big victory... Ew...I hate shots! Are you feeling better?

Silk ladies should be here soon, so I am getting off here and trying to prepare some. I don't want to...I want to go back to bed! ;)

01-27-2010, 10:58 AM
Ellen: :lol3: I agree...I wouldn't want to know, either. And I'm glad I read your previous post and know what Silk ladies are. It sounds like some geishas are coming over. LOL

Solly: No news is good news...or not as bad news...

Toni: I hope you had a great trip! Back to work!

My ticker is moving in the right direction. I think I snacked a little too much yesterday, but only had a little cheese and an apple.

Yesterday for breakfast I had my standard: Kashi, milk, 1/2 a banana (they're ginormous bananas!) and 8oz of NSA orange juice. plenty of coffee, too.

Lunch was two scrambled eggs with green peppers and mushrooms, an apple and some baby carrots with lots of water

Snack was an apple and some cheese

Dinner was a cup and a half of homemade chili and a WW round with a medium glass of milk. I think I ate too heavy at night without the opportunity to walk it off outside...currently its cold enough to have your nostrils freeze shut when you breathe in. I hate that.

Night snack was tea, straight up.

I also walked with Leslie.

Today, breakfast was the same. Lunch will be determined when I get to will dinner.

OkAY...Leslie is waiting!! ;)

01-27-2010, 12:06 PM
Morning all:

No real time to post. My weight stayed the same. I am still determined to keep going. Have a great day all.

Solly- We will see a loss next week.

Ellen- Enjoy your meeting.

Toni- Welcome back.

Tech- Have a great time with Leslie LOL I use to use her tapes before I got my treadmill.

Have a great day everyone.

01-27-2010, 01:22 PM
Had a wonderful visit with my tiny sister LOL. Shes so small now from the gastric bypass surgery. So I got lots of cute clothes I can wear till I get down. It was so fun hugging that tiny person. It was such a nice day. We're getting ready for snow and ice in the next couple of days here. I dread it so much. Maybe it will miss us. LOL Now for the really good news I lost 1 lb. this week. I'm so pleased. I know it doesn't sound like much but its so good for me. My heart meds slow my metabolism down so much. Hopefully walking on the treadmill will help a bunch.

Mercee- Keep going next week will be better. Sometimes staying the same is a blessing.

Kris- Sounds like you're doing good. Keep up the good work.

Ellen- Sorry you didn't get to swim today. Have fun with your silk ladies.

Solly- Good going on staying the same its so much better than going the other way. Watch that weather. I hope you make your doctors app.

Will be back later. Time to go make some oatmeal.

01-27-2010, 01:54 PM
Howdy. Well, I'm very happy I didn't gain. I weighed the same as last week to the ounce. :) 188. Hopefully this week I will be more diligent with my food and see a loss. Congratulations to this weeks loser and to those who keep on keeping on. :carrot:

Last night I had an odd supper. I had two roma tomatoes and over half a pound of asparagus. I'm so glad it was on sale this week. I just love it. I would have eaten the whole pound but I was being a good sharer.. LOL

Email Tip:

Losing In Intervals: A Fool-Proof Plan
Integrate interval training into your workout. Interval training is a regimen that uses both low-intensity and high-intensity movements. The key is to vary intensity levels throughout the workout - performing intense spurts mixed with periods of rest. For example, you might do two to five minutes of sprints, followed by two to five minutes of walking. Interval training improves cardiovascular health, boost metabolism, increases stamina and more. nice to get some new clothes. That is always fun. I'm waiting on mama to go through her larger clothes. :) My baby sister had her tummy done several years ago and she is a size 6 and about 6 foot tall, so thin.

Solly...yuck on the cold nasty weather. We are turning cold this weekend also. I'm not looking forward to it. But good news winter is almost over. :)

Mercee...keep up the good work.

Ellen...yuck. I'm with you. I don't want to know..LOL are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

Be back later this afternoon. I need to get my booty in gear this morning.

God bless,

01-27-2010, 03:15 PM
Good afternoon, everyone...:dz:

This is gonna be REALLY short because every time I sit up I feel like I'll keel over. Has been a REALLY ill week. Awful upper/lower respiratory infection, sinuses, no sleep, hacking cough, fighting off pneumonia. I haven't been able to taste anything so I'm clueless over why I ate anything, but I did fall off the wagon a few times (what a time to waste on homemade fudge! Still, it was creamy...). Most of the time I've been good but I haven't been active at *all*. I'm looking at the new treadmill in the corner and it'll have to wait a few more days. Just talking or walking across the room will put me into a 20 minute coughing fit. I don't want to take antibiotics until a bacterial pneumonia is confirmed (the reason why there are so many resistant strains is that so many people abuse antibiotics and take them for viruses, over which they're worthless). I still managed to lose almost 2 lbs. this week, and I'll take it. Must be all of the aerobic exercise from hacking. Ah, I really need to go lie down again. Just wanted to check in and commend everybody for being so good. Hang in there and I hope to catch up with everyone soon.

:cough: :cough: :reaching for a new box of tissues...:

01-27-2010, 04:34 PM
Nursedee- Congrats on your 2 lb loss!!! I sure hope you feel better soon. I wondered how things were going for you.

Crystle- Next week will be better for us. At least we didn't gain. Your dinner was weird last night I won't be trying that one. LOL

Have nice evening ladies.

01-27-2010, 04:36 PM
Just popping in...

Ellen, I'm sorry your class was cancelled, but then it was a good thing.

Tech, Yeah! going in the right direction.

Mercee, You're in the same boat with Crystle and me. Better than up. Hang in there.

Crystle, We will get them next week. I love asparagus.

Toni, Congrats on the 1 lb loss. I know what you mean about the meds affecting your loss. Mine too. Nice that you got some new clothes.

Nursedee, Man you really have it good (or bad). Hoping you turn the corner soon. Take care of yourself.

Heading to the gym tonight. Then home to a pot of chili, Yum! Have a great OP evening.

Silk guild went well...I actually did a scarf today. I like the colors, but I am not sold on the pattern as it turned out..though the others loved it. They left around 1:30 and I ate lunch- sauteed eggplants, and a baked delicata squash with some smart balance on it and a piece of cheese- around 2. I was trying to talk myself into going for a walk, but I was procrastinating badly. Finally, I decided to check my blood sugar figuring if it were high, it would motivate me to get going. My blood sugar was good! Very good! So, guess what? Yep, I sat here. Shame on me!

NURSEDEE: Oh, that sounds horrible! I hope you are on the mend soon!

TECH: I snickered about that 'Leslie's waiting'. I have one of her tapes, and I have used it some, but I get bored with it really fast. What is wrong with me? Do you still have your big dog?

COUNTRY: I LOVE asparagus! We had it last night with the monkfish. I roast it in the oven...easy and SO good!

MERCEE: There is some victory in staying the same. It is a whole lot better than gaining!

SOLLY: Enjoy your chili! It sure is good weather for that here...wish I had some.

TONI: That is great that your sister has been so successful! Now its your turn! Take it! :) Hey are you still playing Farmville?

And I am off to work on dinner...I think it will be shrimp and broccoli stir fry...

01-27-2010, 08:15 PM
Well dinner is over and eating has been good today. Had a Jalapeno burger Patty and some roasted brussel sprouts for dinner. Not the greatest but the meat I was planning to have didn't get thawed out. Walked on the treadmill today so I was happy with that.

Crystle- I love asparagus. So I could totally see your dinner. Hope you had a good day.

NurseDee- You sound so bad. I'm so sorry you are so sick. Rest lots and get some good chicken soup in you. 2 lbs is so great and especially while you're sick.

Solly- Sounds like you have a nice evening planned. Chili sounds good on a cold evening. And you working out is great!!! You're doing good.

Ellen- Great on the blood sugar. Do you do pottery anymore? Yum your lunch sounds so good. I'm still on farmville but haven't played much the last couple of months.

01-27-2010, 11:44 PM
I actually had a good eating day today. Dinner was tilapia and fried cabbage. Even got in a little walk this afternoon. I'm a bit moody but I'll get over it. Robert is going to have to start IV therapy at home. We will have togetherness for the next two weeks. :) Praising God for it not getting in the bone but being a bit pouty at the same time because of it not being well yet.

NurseDee...I am so sorry you have been feeling so poorly. Praying you regain your strength quickly. are making me hungry. :) WTG walking on the treadmill today.

Ellen...awesome on the sugar. You sound like me with the procrastination. It's so easy to side tracked and put off walking. We had monkfish once and it was very tasty. We cooked it out on the grill. I need to try the roasted asparagus. That is something I've never had. About how long does it take to cook?

Solly...well come on over I have some more left. :) Or I could come and have a giant bowl of chili. I'm a big eater..LOL

Mercee...thanks for the encouragement. ((hugzz))

Hope ya'll are having a super evening.

God bless,

On my way to bed....just passing through!

COUNTRY: I roast my asparagus at 375 -425 degrees for about 15 minutes. I line the pan with foil, drizzle it with olive oil and sprinkle it with kosher salt. Yum! Its best roasted at 400, but the range is just because I may have something else in the oven as well....I don't think its a big deal. Try roasting brussel sprouts too...cut them in half and cook them the same way. VERY good!

Good morning ladies,

On here earlier than I expected. Got my shot and ready to go. Hopefully it will make the numbness in my right fingers go away. It is hard to type.

Made it to the gym. Did 15 minutes on the eliptical, did weights for 15 then did the :tread: for only 5. I was worn out. Hope to go tonight and just to the treadmill and bike. Need to take it easy with my neck.

Ellen, I hae a friend at church whose D does silk scarf painting and they are beautiful. I think she sells them for $80+. Can you have chili?

Cryslte, I am sorry to hear about Robert. I know you will be such a good nurse. Hope he heals quickly. Good job on your eating. I wish I like Talipia. It has a tuna consistantsy to me. I perfer Grouper or Cod.

Toni, WTG on having a good dinner when you plans get changed and for walking on the :tread:

Nursedee, hope you are feeling some better today.

Mercee,

Tech, are you still walking with Leslie?

BOB, where are you????

Off to log my food. Have a great OP day.

Morning ladies;

I had a great evening last night. After dinner I watched my taped Biggest Loser and I walked on my treadmill. Today for lunch I am having a salad.

Solly- Glad you were able to get your shot and you got tot he gym. Keep up the good work.

Ellen: I,m glad your blood sugar is better. I think I will roast some brussell sprouts tonight or tomorrow. Those scarves sound beautiful.

Crystle - I'm praying for a speedy recovery for Robert. Be encouraged.

Toni- Great job walking on your treadmill. Keep it up.

NurseDee- I pray you are feeling better. Take care of yourself.

Have a great day all. I will check in later.

01-28-2010, 02:52 PM
Just popping in. I'm sick today so I won't do replies. Taking it easy and waiting for the bad weather. DH is going to the store to pick up some milk and cottage cheese. Had oatmeal and OJ for breakfast. Have a good day.

01-28-2010, 03:13 PM
Toni- I hope you feel better soon.:hug:

01-28-2010, 07:03 PM
We just got back from town. Robert may have found me a treadmill. He won't commit until I get a chance to look at it. :) Not a lot to chat about this afternoon, mostly because I'm kinda grouchy. But I did wanna pop in and see how everyone is doing. ((Everybody))

Toni...hope you feel better soon.

Mercee...thanks so much for your good wishes for Robert. I have faith but I'm a little off balance when he isn't feeling well. I just want it to happen yesterday. :)

Solly...WTG at the gym. I should be walking now but you see where I am.

Ellen...thanks for the recipe. Zachary might like the brussel sprouts roasted. He really dislikes them and the only way so far I've found is to cut them in half and let them caramelize in the fry pan. He actually called the cabbage good last night, a miracle.

Tech...hope you aren't getting the nasty winter weather I've been hearing about.

Love and hugs,

Can't sleep again tonight. I really hate these nights..... I walked with a friend yesterday...(Thurs) she came over with her five year old son and my grandson happened to be over. The boys ran the whole way. Oh to have that kind of energy!

SOLLY: Wow, $80 sounds like a lot! I would be VERY happy if I could sell them for $30.
COUNTRY: I hope you are over the grumps. That would be awesome if you can get the treadmill!

TONI: Oh, do take it easy and I hope you feel better soon!

Mercee: Hope you are well!

NURSEDEE: Are you feeling better? Been worrying about how you are...

TECH:  Hey, did you ever find a place to get that Thai stuff near you?

Ok, off to try and sleep. . Night.

Happy Friday

I know I am ready for the weekend. No plans but to relax. My youngest is out of town for the weekend, DH is hunting tomorrow swo I guess I will hook up with my eldest and GS and go shopping or something. Unless we get a bunch of snow, which they keep changing hour to hour, station to station. At least it is on the weekend and DH can take us anywhere we would need to go. I have a hair appt but ca always change that.
Sunday we are celebrating by DD's birthday. I can't beleive my baby will be 30. I feel really old.

Toni, I am sorry you are feeling bad. Hope today is better for you. Did you all get any snow yet. They are saying around 6:00 tonight it will hit.

Crystle, I am happy that you may get a new :tread: I hope your mood has improved and you are feeling better.

Mercee, I watched the end of the BL last night also. That lady on the red team sure is a trouble maker. But of course they have to have 1 every year to make it exciting.

Ellen, Sorry you can't sleep. That just ruins you whole day. Are you still selling things on Etsy?

Nursedee, hope you are feeling better today.

Off to log my food. I'll check back l

Morning! I finally got back in bed last night around 1:30...and fell asleep soon after. Tom woke me at 8 to make his lunch as I had asked him to. That is not great, but seven hours is better than the night before!

Tonight we will have our grandson here while his parents go to a party near us. They just bought a house that is about 45 minutes away, so we don't see them as often anymore. Yesterday, my son in law dropped my daughter at work, then came over here with my grandson and spent the better part of the day. He was very helpful doing some chores for me, while I played with the boy. It was nice, and I love seeing my grandson.

Tomorrow night we have a birthday party to go to for Tom's boss' three year old son. We are taking our grandson with as the party is at one of those inflatable jumping thing places. Our grandson LOVES those places...should be an interesting night.

Sunday is our granddaughter's first birthday party here. I just need to clean and make the cake. They are doing all the food. Lets hope they are planning on doing all the clean up too...though I am not confident that is the case! I need to head out to the grocery store to get what I need to make the cake soon. I need just about every essential too...I have been waiting for payday! I  payday so much I could kiss it!

SOLLY: I hope you have a good weekend! They have been calling for frozen precipitation here. I am hoping they change it to just rain..but sunshine and warm temperatures would be even more welcome!

01-29-2010, 12:05 PM
I'm over myself today. :) Too many blessing to whine over the things that don't go my way. It is cold and rainy outside today so no walking. It's hard to believe it's only six weeks until our first spring planting. I'm already looking forward to fresh green beans. I need to start some seedlings indoors pretty soon also.

Buffalo spaghetti came out great last night. I used one pound and it is going to end up making two meals. I did add extras like whole mushrooms and black olives. That helps give it more texture. My hubby likes a really thick sauce.

The boys new school came in and they seem very excited to start it. That is after the initial moans and groans..LOL Jess is a senior this year. I'm so proud of him. School hasn't been easy for him but he has persevered.

Today's email tip:

Save Calories At Meals
Drink a glass of water before you eat. Many times we go into a meal feeling famished. Consuming eight ounces of water 30 minutes before you sit down to eat works wonders. The water fills you up and you won't be as hungry when your meal is served. In turn, you'll be less likely to overeat. Water eases cravings and controls hunger without costing you any calories.

An oldie but goodie. I need to start drinking water period. When I first started eating this way I drank water water and more water. I truly think it made the biggest difference yet I can not seem to make it habit. Another think I used to do was NOT eat after 8. The night time munchies is the hardest habit for me to break. I think for me even eating legal foods late at night is a hindrance to success.

You ladies truly are the best and I'm so glad to have a place to come and share our struggles and victories. I'm looking forward to lots victories. :)

Those who are feeling poorly you are in my prayers. May you recover quickly. ((hugzz))

Gotta make a quick phone call. I'm be back later.

God bless,

Where the heck as the week gone to?

We had lake effect snow yesterday (actually the night before) and got a quick 6 inches overnight. The kids had a two-hour delay, which i hate because it totally screws up my schedule. I had a two haircuts just outside of town and when I got to their road, it hadn't been plowed yet! So, I turned down the road and aimed in the middle of the trees on either side of the road and hoped i was in the middle. :fr: But $35 is $35.

I took the money to the store and bought some boneless pork chops. I put them in my slow cooker with some onion, garlic, lemon, cumin, cinnamon, oregano, cilantro and olive oil. once it was cooked down, I spread it on a cookie sheet and broiled it so it browned up. Then we put it on some (yes, illegal) corn tortillas with some lettuce, tomato and sour cream. Derek called it Carnetas. I called it frikken YUMMY! I had three. Not totally legal with the corn tortillas, but I can do worse!!

I didnt' walk with Leslie yesterday because of everyone being home sporadically. Shelley has midterm exams and since the am test was cancelled due to the delay, she didn't have to go in till 1pm, Kyle had to be in at 10:30...had to work in my haircuts and save time for brushing off snow and crappy roads. Derek just stayed home (which is why I had wheels). Then I had a haircut come to my house at 3:30. Confusing day.

I do need to get out and walk still. I've been harvesting crops on Farmville and selling fish on Fishville on Facebook. We have been all changing our profile picture to a celebrity we have been told we look like. I used Farrah Fawcett. I haven't gotten that since about the early 90's, but I did get it a lot, once upon a time. LOL I attached the picture I used. I had the hair down pat! LOL to walk...replies later...

Morning ladies:

I have a very busy day at work going on. I just wanted to stop in and say HI. I am doing well and staying OP. This weekend I am going out with my family for dinner to celebrate my B-day. Have a great day and weekend if I don't get back.

01-29-2010, 02:35 PM
Breakfast was the usual...Kashi, 1/2 banana, nsa orange juice and coffee

Walking with leslie was very sweaty

Lunch was a turkey sandwich on WW rounds with lots of lettuce and tomatoes and easy on the mustard...lots of water...and a 1/4 cantaloupe.

Replies will still have to be later. Shelley just got home from school after her two midterm exams. We're going to watch a movie...I'm hoping it involves either Edward or Harry Potter.

I have a good tip. It sort of goes along with Crystle's tip.

Hungry or Thirsty?

Some cravings for food are actually thirst in disguise, says nutritionist and life coach Jonny Bowden, PhD, CNS. Since most of us walk around underhydrated, half the time what we perceive as hunger is really thirst. When a craving hits, you can test if it's hunger or thirst by drinking a couple glasses of water, preferably with a slice of lemon, then waiting a few minutes to see if you're still hungry.

Crystle, glad you mood improved. Someties we just can't help ourselves.

Mercee, enjoyyour birthday dinner.

Tech, I guess you all are more equipped or better at riving in 6" of snow than we are here. Our whole city about shuts down.

01-29-2010, 03:45 PM
Howdy ho from snowy Missouri. It started snowing here about 8 this morning and hasn't stopped. Glad I don't have to go out today. Ate oatmeal, toast and OJ for breakfast/lunch. I also got some boiled eggs done for snacking later. Tonight will be stir fried brown rice with leftover pork and maybe the rest of my brussel sprouts.

Solly- I hope you have a good week end and don't get this snow we're getting but I'm thinking you're going to get it. So it might be a good time to stay in.

Crystle- Oh boy I hope it works out that you get the treadmill. Wow what is buffalo spaghetti, it sounds yummy. I'm with you and the water. I just plain need to drink more of it.

Tech-Wow you're doing so good with the Leslie CD. Keep up the good work. Your dinner sounds so good. Sometimes you just have to break loose.

Mercee- Howdy, hope you're having a good day.

Ellen- Hope you get a little nap today. What a wonderful time you're having with your Grandson. He'll have a ball at the party. What kind of cake are you making?

Think its about time for a little nap.
