Good Morning everyone! Our trip away went well, w/ a few minor bouts of 'family drama'.....food wise, I did pretty good--we took healthy stuff and I stuck to mostly that. I did eat something that had way too much sodium, because I am still feeling puffy today. I will drink lots of water today, so that should get better.

I have today off and I am VERY glad....I'll pick the dogs up from the kennel and do some stuff around the house and relax! We haven't put our Christmas decorations away, yet, but that will wait for another day (probably the weekend when dh and I can do it together)

I'm off to find something to put in the crockpot for an easy dinner.

Have a great OP day!!!!

Hi Chicks - I had a good day yesterday.:) That makes seven good days and I am so grateful. I drank lots of water, ate only when seated, put fork down between bites and worked on being aware of my food.

For today:

breakfast - lite cheese toast, clementine
lunch - wrap with ff refried beans, lite cheese, salsa, veggies
snack - cereal & yogurt
dinner - chili, veggies & dip
snack - pretzels, pnb butter

lots of water
meditation
no exercise today (back still tender)
fork down between bites
aware eating
log food
NO standing while eating

MJ - I am glad you had a good visit. :) Sometimes, it seems there's always a bit of drama where the family is concerned.(not just you - everyone) It was good that you took some of your healthier foods. I bet the doggies will be glad to see you. :D

Have a good day, folks.

This will be the first full week of me being back on plan. I have my adult daughter coming to visit for our belated holiday celebration so I have to plan for that. We usually eat out at least 1x while she is here. When we eat out I will order grilled chicken breast, salad with dressing on the side and stick to ice water as a beverage. Other than that this is my plan:

Eat Breakfast! I feel better longer if I eat protein in the a.m.
Snack: baby carrots and 1 tbs pnut butter
Lunch: salad with tuna and or boiled egg dressing on the side
Snack: fruit
Dinner: smaller portions of whatever I am making (not much of a plan there!)
PM Snack: chamomile tea

As far as activity, I will dance to some fun music every day for 15 minutes or walk in place while watching tv. I will park far enough from where ever I have to go and at work, I will walk to the copier after every copy instead of printing 20 things through out the day and picking it up all at once.

I will log in here in the am, again at work (at break of course!) and after dinner for support and motivation.

Also, during bouts of emotional overload, I will call a friend or come here to avert an eating crisis. ;)

Hi all. I'm feeling pretty good about being back in the groove. Although I loved my time away from work, it does feel good to get back into going to the gym and then getting to work. I don't have quite as many temptations to go to the kitchen here!!! Drinking lots of water and eating on plan! Yay!

'Morning, chicks,

Well, I've been good on my plan, but I sure had a bummer day yesterday... got all the chick stuff done, mammogram and gynecological exam. That part was fine, but of course there came the moment when I had to step on the scale. I was rather excited to do it for a change -- I've lost 30 pounds since the last time I saw my doc -- but my doc's scale weighs 10 pounds heavier than both of mine!! I felt so deflated.

Meantime, the new sweetie is coming for a visit on February 8th, and I feel like a whale. I intend to carry on with what I'm doing because it's working, and what else can I do, but I'm feeling rather discouraged.

Best to everyone -- you all sound like you're doing sooooo well!!! Go, chicks!!! :carrot::carrot::carrot:

Hi everyone. Ok, a couple of backward steps. I didn't work out yesterday because it was the first day back to school for my kids and I really wanted to make sure that they made it on the bus. That was ok. But today I didn't work out because I forgot to set my alarm and woke up late. Forgot to set my alarm??? wth? Anyway, I'll try again tomorrow.

raebaer: Hang in there and keep with it. You've done so well and you'll get that fire back in your eyes!

Lottie: Good job on the 5 pounds!

Beverly: You are on a roll!! Good for you!

MJ: Good planning going on for you. Keep it going!

Finally got back to exercising today -- it feels good :), actually. The scale is down .4 lbs since I last weighed in exactly 1 week ago. I was kind of hoping that maybe I'd drop a full pound, but my eating his not exactly been the greatest, and I haven't exercised since gosh... last Wednesday, so I'm not really surprised. No matter, some progress has been made so I will not complain. A small loss is definitely better than none at all, and obviously better than gaining.

I know that I tend to get overwhelmed with the big picture, so I'm going to do what a lot of ladies on here do: post something for every 5 or 10 lbs they lose. I'm going to stick with 5lbs because I need baby steps :P. I'd really like to lose around 8 - 10lbs a month, but I think I am just going to focus on 5 for awhile. I think sometimes my goals are a little too aggressive to make. Granted, if I did everything perfectly I probably would be doing about that, but unfortunately there is a margin for error that I need to account for. Even if I lose 5lbs a month, that's really close to my 75lb 1 year goal at 60lbs. At any rate, I'm probably putting too much thought into it rather than just doing what I know I gotta do.

Somehow a bunch of cookies and candy has crept into the house. Other people live here, so it's a little unreasonable for me to ban sweets, but I have put them up out of my sight so I am not tempted. So far, that seems to be working. I'm even contemplating putting sticky notes on them that says something like, "Losing weight is more important than a momentary sweet." or "There are other ways to treat myself than through food" or I don't know... any suggestions? Who knows, maybe that will motivate other people in my home to stay away from them too. ;)

Hi Chicks - yesterday I had some awful back pain. I ate 350 extra calories. It's better than before & won't make me gain...but, I won't lose either. So I am grateful it didn't get worse. I did drink about 70 ou of water. Today I'll take the medications to help with the back pain - I hate the side effects but - I am willing to do it.

I won't be posting as much today, as it hurts to sit in my office chair. ):

Have a GREAT day friends.

Beverlyjoy, I hope you feel better! It's good that you reigned it in at only 350 extra! I too had that kind of day yesterday; I had a migraine and went 250 over (with a late night snack of apple and peanut butter) but am happy that I stopped it there.

Have a wonderful day all!

Hi everyone. I made it back to spin class after taking about 4 weeks off due to my knee injury. I was worried about my knee the whole time and there were a couple of times it felt a little sore, but it is good now. I can really tell that I haven't done that for so long. It was so hard! But, I think it just is going to be a little sore until it finally heals completely. In another thread I mentioned that I'm starting a 12-week challenge at the gym. There is another woman I work with who is doing it too. I wasn't going to do it, but she wanted me to compete with her so that we both could do some good work over the next 3 months. It's so funny, she bought me a 90-day fitness journal and put a note on it: "To my competitor - I'm going to kick your a..!" So, I put a note back on her desk, "Thank you for the book. PS... You're going down!" Since we're both a little (ok, a lot) competitive, this should be fun.

Rakel: You're in the same situation as me. I can't ban the sweets because the rest of the family loves them. We just have to convince ourselves that it isn't for us. I've seen this quote before and it is also in my new journal, so you could add it too: "Nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels."

Beverly: I hope you get to feeling better. I hate it when pain gets in our way of living our lives!!

Passionista: Glad that you were able to keep your extra calories in check. You should feel proud of that!

Have a great day everyone!

mj5, hope everything turns out okay and it's good you're getting it checked out!

lottie63, you eat a lot like I do! Did you make the seitan hot wings yourself? How did the exercising go?

I'm traveling right now and managed to avoid any pitfalls! I am so proud of myself for drinking enough water, choosing my foods carefully and once I got to my destination (Sin City :o ) one of the first things I did was go shopping for healthy food to cook for the 5 days I am here!

I bought chard, mustard greens, cabbage, carrots, broccoli, onions, probiotic yogurts (vegan) , Irish oatmeal, flax sesame crackers, chickpeas, French green lentils and tofu. I brought spices with me and will be making Thai curried vegetables, Indian chickpeas, lentil and veggie soup, hummus and tofu scramble with veggies. Yes, I am eating every meal but one of food I've prepared myself! I may not even have that one meal out, I'm just giving myself permission to have one out just in case I want it. ;)

I only did 20m of exercise last night because it got rather late (around 10:00) when I started, but I still went down .4lbs. Whoo hoo! I am starting to get more confidence now that the scale is moving. A stagnant month is always a little discouraging, even when you know exactly why it didn't move. This puts me at almost a 13lb loss. :D I really am grinning ear to ear. Now onto 14lbs lost!!

For dinner I made enchiladas, which really don't have very many cals -- about 300 for one. But I usually eat at least 1 and a half, maybe 2. However, I ate my one last night and never went back for seconds. Small steps, but positive ones :)

OK, gotta get back to work, I just wanted to give a little update.

Just got done doing my exercise. Wii Fit measured me at 312.8. I know the significant drop is mostly because I weighed myself after breakfast instead of after dinner. My goal is to get up early enough during the week to exercise after breakfast every day, but as long as I do it after or before dinner I know it will go up 1-2 lbs. Either way, I'm pretty happy. This puts me at officially 15lbs lost! Time to update the siggy! :)

Well, the scale finally moved. I seem to be one of these people who drops weight in whooshes, while in between for a couple of weeks the scale bounces around, up and down in the most annoying manner. All I can say is, it's a lot of fuss for a couple of pounds!!! Still, it's over 30 pounds in less than 3 months (I started on October 16th), so I really have nothing to whine about!!

Beverlyjoy, so glad to hear you were home when the ice maker failed!! I've been in the same situation, and a portion of wood floor was ruined.

sachiko, welcome and good start!! You're doing great!! :carrot:

rakel, wow, fantastic!! Fifteen pounds lost is a huge victory!! Keep going!! :)

Trazey34, kudos to you for getting back to your plan... I struggle with that most of all, so I am so admiring of those who do it regularly!! :carrot:

Sounds like everyone is moving forward well in the new year, which is fantastic. :)

I've got to up the water and the exercise... I struggle with both of those. I have a private goal to lose 2 more pounds in the next 2 weeks... I think I can do this. That would put me in the 220s (woo!!!), would get my BMI below 35 and puts me back where I was the LAST time I needed to lose a lot of weight. Wish me luck, chicks!! :D

Best, Rae

Thanks for all of the congratulations guys! That was a huge motivation boost for me. Yesterday I went over to a friends house for a game night, and I knew they were having pizza, so to prevent me from going overboard with that, I bought some health(ier) snacks - a veggie tray, some pretzels, and some lunch meat roll-ups that I made with low-cal ingredients. They were a hit at the party, and they prepared one less pizza than they were going to. I stayed will under my calories, in fact, when I got home at 1am or so, I could have eaten another 500 cals, but decided to just opt for some more veggies and be done with it. I am so bad with getting in bed earlier on the weekends!
