Default What if you miss a meal?

So I've been trying to get over this stupid cold so I can exercise again (right now i can't breathe) and today my lovely husband allowed me to sleep until after noon. this means that i missed breakfast & a snack.

would you "over eat" the rest of the day to hit your mark, or take the deficit? I just finished my journal and I have like a 600 cal deficit, i'm also under all other macronutrients, but my sodium is a little high.

When I am sick, I eat only when I feel like it and what I want which is usually hardly anything at all.

My husband allows me to sleep in until 12pm during vacation and during the weekend, I usually just eat when Im hungry but I usually have a minimum calorie range which is 1400 calories. Today I ended up eating 1900 even though I slept in late. If your not hungry then I wouldn't worry about it but thats up to you, you can still eat those calories if you feel the need to. good Luck

I don't know. I'm bad about this very problem and have been all break. I get up late and don't bother with breakfast because I'm not hungry. But I also noticed yesterday when I got back on plan of actually eating enough, I was hungry when I went to bed which tells me my metabolism is up and running again. So I think it is better for us to eat routinely.

I think maybe adding an extra 100 calories to each meal is a good idea?? But I'm just making this up as I go along.

I would eat a little more, but I would never try to eat when I wasn't hungry. That's just a dynamic I don't want to feed, so to speak . But I would increase fat (add nuts, avocado), as that makes it pretty easy to add calories without too much volume.

If it's once in a blue moon, I'd forget about it. If it's often, I'd try to figure out why it's happening and what I can do to prevent it.

Good advice, unless anyone is like me. I'm never hungry until I take that first bite in a day. I could easily fast. I have to eat small meals routinely BEFORE I'm hungry to curb overeating.

If I miss a meal, due to whatever, I will add on to the next meal, or add a snack - keeping it reasonable, but making sure I don't get to the point of feeling starving and then eat my husband, or the cat, or both.
If I am far below at the end of my day, like 500 cals or more, I'll eat some peanut butter. Otherwise, I consider it a bonanza and move on to the next day.

I had 2 snacks of pistachios yesterday, and I really thought my omlette for dinner was going to be more calories than it was. Today I'm even worse off because i didn't get up til 1!! Ugh!! I'll try adding calories to all my meals and snacks, but really i think I just need to wake up earlier!!

Yes . I was speaking from the standpoint of someone given to eating constantly even when I'm not hungry!

I found myself missing breakfast due to sleeping late a couple of times while on vacation. I just ate a heavier snack later in the afternoon (pb&j on both counts) and came in a little light for the day. One day I added in a protein milkshake.

When you're sick you should listen to your body. If you aren't hungry, don't worry about it. Just make sure you get plenty of fluids and lots of rest.

I've noticed that if I wake up earlier, I'm in a MUCH better mood and feel more motivated. Don't get me wrong... there are days where I need to get a little extra sleep (boo stress!), but overall I notice a drastic improvement over one week's span. So perhaps you can curb your sleeping by 1hr a day and start waking up a bit earlier??

If your sick listen to your body...

If its because you are sleeping in to long in the morning I would ask this? What time do you go to bed at night? Can you just adjust your day to the times you are awake? Say if you get up at 10am your day would look like this

10am Breakfast
12pm Snack 1
2pm Lunch
4pm Snack 2 or
5pm Dinner
7-8pm heavy snack or light snack and then
10pm snack

Does that make sense? Your day doesnt have to follow mine for instance..
