View Full Version : What's your motto for 2010?

My motto for 2010:

"So....things aren't the way I want them right now......I'll be happy anyway!"

For me this means that I will choose to be happy NOW, rather than wait until I lose weight to be happy!

So what's YOUR motto for the new year?

12-31-2009, 10:00 AM
It would be that bottom quote in my signature :)

12-31-2009, 10:05 AM
my motto is going to be MOVE MY BODY
I have been sitting to much the past 8 months playing on the computer...its over, no more farming on facebook!!

12-31-2009, 10:10 AM
I have a few, my current is "faking it 'til I'm making it!"

My motto in life has always been - "Kindness Matters" I think I should change it to "Kindness Matters - especially to myself".

12-31-2009, 10:17 AM
"This is the year"

It totally has to be the year. I took my daughter ice skating for the first time and had to call it off after 3 laps because I'm too heavy to deal with that weight on ice skates. I graduate in May (11 years late), I'm going to be looking for a new job for while I'm in grad school, I want to be confident in everything about myself. So this is the year.

12-31-2009, 10:23 AM
I'd say it's probably the quote in my sig. I'm trying to let go of the idea that things, including but not limited to my weight, have to be a certain way for me to feel ok and fulfilled.

12-31-2009, 10:49 AM
Well i started last year with "Be the Change You Wish To See In the World", and for the first time in my life i kept a resolution. So i'm sticking with this motto. However i do like RomanceDiva's motto. It is very fitting (the relationship part) for me right now.

12-31-2009, 11:16 AM
My motto this year? "Just kick it."

Kick it into high gear. Kick that last 63 pounds out of here. Kick my butt into challenging the lactation consultants exam. Just kick it.

12-31-2009, 11:19 AM
Ooh I like the just kick it one.

I don't know if I have a motto per se', though maybe I should.

I do love and live by my signature though. Could/should that be my motto - maybe it already is ;).

12-31-2009, 11:22 AM
I did think of something I've been saying myself lately.

me - only better

best in fact, but I keep it to the me - only better part.

12-31-2009, 12:24 PM
RomanceDiva - I like that!

"The most exciting, and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself."

I definitely need to work on this next year!

12-31-2009, 12:40 PM
Not a motto persay..... but I have 4 words written on my desk..... I am working on making myself these 4 words in all aspects...... especially my eating.

No man is free who is not a master of himself. -Epictetus

You see, in life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action. - Anthony Robbins

ďAmen I say to you that whosoever shall say to this mountain, Be thou removed and be cast into the sea, and shall not stagger in his heart, but be believe that whatsoever he saith shall be done; it shall be done unto him." Mark 11: 23

"Immerse your soul in love." (Courtesy of the brilliant Radiohead.)

This quote has always meant so much to me, but taking it into 2010 is all about kindness, passion and compassion in everything I do. Striving to live that way can only make me a better, more successful person. (This is also the tattoo I want to get when I hit my final goal.)

My other one is actually my boyfriend's favorite quote, one that always sort of freaked me out and bothered me until I took the time to internalize it.

"I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself." (D.H. Lawrence)

To me this says so much about making excuses and wallowing in self pity. Nope, none of that for me anymore. My sophomoric and basic interpretation? Suck it up, get it done, and quit whining. :)

(I'm usually not this philosophical before my first cup of coffee.)

12-31-2009, 02:31 PM
I have 3 that I use daily.
1. "what is the compassionate thing to do?" this has been my motto for years..
2. "do you want to eat that or do you want feet in 20 years?" I was diagnosed with Diabetes type II this year.
3. "I can do this" my motivator message.

12-31-2009, 02:34 PM
I have a couple.

* "Breathe in...breathe out...repeat..."

To me, it's a reminder that no matter what's going on in my life (good/bad/whatever) the important thing is to just be there.

* When contemplating any decision: "How will I feel afterwards?"

So, if my choices are between going for a walk and sitting on the couch..."how will I feel afterward?" helps me make a choice I won't regret. Well, at least most of the time : )

My motto is just stealing Robin's - it's really touched me so much over the past year, I think I'll adopt it for 2010 and onward too!

It's brilliant, isn't it? I wish I would have been the author of it. But I am happy enough just remembering it and instituting it. It is so simple, yet so clever. It speaks very loudly to me.

Let's make 2010 the best year ever!

12-31-2009, 09:34 PM

There are so many saying and words that mean a great deal to me, however BELIEVE is the key word to me lately. Believing in myself, believing in my ability to do this!

Let's rock 2010! :high:

12-31-2009, 09:39 PM
Oh I also like, If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got, and you'll always feel what you always felt

Conquering myself, one day at a time.

... aka. my signature.

Mine is "I can do this!" It applies to many aspects of my life.

Before you begin a thing remind yourself that difficulties and delays quite impossible to foresee are ahead. ... You can only see one thing clearly, and that is your goal. Form a mental vision of that and cling to it through thick and thin.

Cake is not the answer.

Life is not about finding yourself, it's about creating yourself.

01-02-2010, 09:21 PM
All of these I have read are great! I hadn't really thought about having a motto for 2010. I still like my sig one...Make your habits, because your habits make you. I honestly don't remember where I got it from, but I it's something I need to remember. I need to change my soda habit to a water habit, my sit on the couch habit to a get up and move habit, etc, etc. Oh, and I also really like "just shut up and do it." I should tell myself this much more often! haha
