Wondering if I can really do this....
Hi. My name is Tonya. I'm a 34 year old internet support rep who sits around all day long waiting for the pounds to pile on! I'm truly ready to make some changes in my life, but find myself at a point of laziness that I just can't seem to overcome. I know it is up to me to move. I know it is up to me to change bad habits. I'm just looking for the motivation. I stumbled across this website and am really excited to see real people, who have had real results! It's amazing to see a diet website with actual OVERWEIGHT PEOPLE! lol I'm open to any advise, trick, tip, recipe, or idea that you guys have that might help. I am also a college student. I have VERY little time to actually work out in. However, I know it's possible to fit a work out into a busy scheudle. Deep down I believe that losing all this extra weight is possible. I hope through reading your posts and stories that I will find my own path to true, lasting weight loss!
Thanks for listening to part of my story. God bless each of you!

The short answer to your question is... of course you can!!! As some very wise folks around here always say, forget motivation and go for commitment! Motivation never fails to leave you when you need it most, but commitment means getting off the couch and eating right even when it's the last thing you want to do. Because you are worth taking care of.

Hi colelady2b!
Sounds like you're ready to get started - no looking back, no beating yourself up, just moving forward -the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on.
Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help choose the right ones for you and get through the ups and downs.
There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.
I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.
So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee
Happy Holidays!

Hi Tonya,
Welcome. I haven't met my goal yet but am steadily on my way. I have been exercising for three years and in my case, exercise is overrated for weight loss. I do martial arts, teach martial arts, the elliptical, jump rope, hike in warmer weather, and lift heavy weights.
My weight actually increased because exercise made me very hungry. Exercise is important for your health (to help keep away Type II diabetes and heart disease) and it can shape your body beyond belief. It also can give you lots of energy, Overweight people often lack energy which can also make you feel depressed.
The key to weight loss is finding something you can live with. I think it's easier said than done. That's why so many of us have started and restarted diets. Never feel bad if you go off a diet and on to another one.
A lot of people here have been successful with calorie counting. If you are going to calorie count, I would take a hint from Dr. Oz and make some meals automated (the same everyday). If you do that with breakfast, lunch and snacks, then you only have to count the calories in dinner. Or make all your meals automated.
I got tired of counting calories. I eat one main meal a day after working out. Throughout the day, I snack every three hours or so - half an orange, a Tbsp. of walnuts, an apple, a boiled egg. My main meal is healthy food and averages about 700-800 calories. My total for the day is usually 1300-1400.

Tonya,
First of all, welcome! You can absolutely do this! And, I too sit all day at a desk, but my employer let me put in a treadmill desk and that is what started my WL journey. For me, I HAVE to move if I want to lose.
Just believe that you can do this. Put one foot in front of the other..... and it will happen!
