I was rudly woken up bu DH sneezing about 10 times. that was it for me! I am trying to make my body get used to wakingup early so it will not be such a chore to get up and exercise in the am.

Barb How mean of you to hurt our dad’s feelings like that!! L Not eating his doughnuts. But you know what is best!! He may not have been happy but I am proud of you!! J

Dottie I had to laugh of your running a marathon!! I am going to have to use that one!! I would have fallen with laughter if she had said that to me!!

Linda I get on the defensive when MY DH starts in on me too. I have been trying not to lash out at him as I have not been working but then I was nicely saying something to him about something and he jumped me and said it was all because I was back at work and have gotten bitc#y again. I said that was NOT the case I was just trying to keep order in the house so it does not get out of hand that shut him up for about 1 min!! So do not feel bad about jumping him too much. I know he is working hard but it is not like you do nothing. I feel that my computer time is like his time in front of the TV/fishing if I did equal time the house would fall down at my feet!!! So where is the justice?? That is even with me not working!! Now with me working I have devised the stone program and I will say that after 4 days it is working. It works even better when I have money to reward the kids. I t9old my little one that I was very happy at how hard he was trying to get his things done and how hard he was trying to be good. And if he tries that is what this is all about. Peace is the norm in the house now. Except for the occasional fight and now I have a ball stuck in my ceiling fan that the boys threw up there last night!! LOL but I can expect things like that so I am not too upset at least it is better!!

I'm in a better space today than yesterday - I think I was just fatigued. Anyhow today is a bit cooler and the girls and I had coffee on the deck as the sun rose.

I am planning to tackle some of the tall weeds in the garden before they go to seed. There are some Sow Thistles that have gon to seed that I will zap with my handy dandy weed torch - that fluff burns fast! I am loaded with beans finally and will take a mess of them to my sister's place when we go for dinner tonight. I love green beans - especially with pesto. Actually I like almost anything with pesto.

Must confess to a wee slip yesterday. I decided that Hershey needed an ice cream and went to the little spot here in town to get her a scoop. They had just opened a pralines ' n cream so I succumbed. Hersh and I sat outside the shop on the bench sharing a serving. We did have two spoons and I didn't get them mixed up. OMG it was good! And I don't feel one bit guilty! She ate really well from the spoon and it sure was less messy and more sanitary than sharing a cone!

Gotta get going before I lose my motivation - DH just got up now and has been advised that I will need some assitance in the garden!

I know everything was a bit stressful the last weeks for you and with the funeral that just made things worse. now relax and start to enjoy the girls!!

Well, here we go again! As soon as I hit "post reply" - my connection to the cablemodem failed!!! Of course! :mad: Is this the way today is gonna go? <grrrrrr> It better not, because I am not in the mood for bad things -- it looks like maybe the weather has broken, due to those awful storms last night (for which we were on the road in Brooklyn!)..... I haven't opened the door yet, so I don't know!

Anyhow I guess I got all that venting out in my first attempt at posting, so now, all I'll say is:

Jif, Peach, Dottie SOMEBODY please let me know the story about tomorrow.... where are we meeting??? what time are we meeting? helllllp... inquiring minds want/need to know! I guess I better let dh know that I am going....with the relatives around (one of which came over drunk last night) there really has not been a good moment to break it to him gently. I wonder if I can rent a security system for two weeks out of the year?

Congrats to the new job, the feeling better, coming home and Darren's birthday, and the ice cream shared in pairs!

We are planning Dallas BBQ on 2nd Ave and 8th Street around 1:00. This is, of course, pending Peach's and Jenniffer's approval; babysitting and other demands allowing. I think we all are driving in, so we'll just meet in the restaurant. CAN"T WAIT!

I have high hopes for a good eating day today. I have been slipping this week with no time to cook or pack food for work-always my downfall. So a relaxed Saturday to scramble some eggs and sausage, and get to the store for some fish for dinner and chicken for next week's lunches!

and that translates into a whole scrambled egg with low fat yoghurt cheese with pepper and chive, 6 shrimp, and about a cup of caesar salad. i REALLY should get a grip and realize that this isn;t a lot of food here!!

so glad that they're gone!!!! that lush is nothing but trouble.

and those STORMS last night!!!! even old i'll-drive-anywhere-even-in-a-hurricane ME pulled into a parking light to wait it out!!

O h have I a busy day planned for today and this is the day I though no plans if al was well I could go down and visit??? Well

Starting with yesterday DH is trying to finally get things done around the house who knew/??? so after my plumbing fiasco he finally this week decided to attach the water softener to the sewer pipe. So he removed the old connection from the old pipe to drill a hole and stick it in to the new and lo and behold when the guy stuck it in the hole last time he plugged it up with goo so it had never worked!! I kept wondering why the thing just did not get soft I kept going down and changing the settings. (They told me not to touch the settings but you know me!!) So it never worked right from the beginning!! And dummy me never could tell. So hopefully I can start having clean clothes and showers and stop plugging the coffee maker and all the stuff I was upset that the lime was building up on so that is fixed (maybe my white pants now can stay white and not gray)

For today I have a 8 am appt with the car parts store then 9 with the mechanic that is going to put it in the car this is for the wagon that the breaks are bad on we need new rotors they are so warped that it shakes like heck when you try to stop and we burn pad when we go down hill. I will see if this guy can give me a price on the major oil leak we have. Too he was supposed to fix the old man car or broken hip mobile we have (DD calls it that 85 olds tornado) (the wagon is the other old man car but not to bad full sized 93 Chevy) but the parts had to be ordered from out of state so it will be a few days before that can be fixed. The bus we found had a broken rotor so that is also in the shop. (I will say that I have been in VERY bad shape with the cars with no way to fix them) now that DH got his check from the union contract we are getting things actually safe to drive!!!

So any ways the car goes at 9 then at 12 I have to drive DS1 half way to Cooperstown to let grandma and grandpa take him for the week (1 hour drive) then I have to be back by 2 to give the car to DD1 to go to a birthday party and some how get the other car in the mean time. With this I must finish the g-shopping and pack for the camping trip on this coming Sunday (I have to do it this week as next Saturday we are gone to a family thing al day) so this is a very busy day and I am having a stomach ache just thinking of what has to be done. And am trying to figure how to fit exercise in there??? What a nut I am!!

So all in all I just want to let you all know that although you will be sitting back and relaxing and crying hugging and meeting each other I am going to be at that time in Sherburne NY doing a kid exchange thinking of all the fun I am missing and jealous of all of you. Some day I will make one of these chick meets I know that this is jut not my time yet. But some time I will!!! And Ruth as soon as my life gets into a routine I will make some how o get up to see you!! Or meet half way!! How far is it to Syracuse for you?? (I am thinking of the carousel mall)

Other than that, just chores this morning and errands before I leave, around 12. Baked 14 chicken thighs for next week and will bake some breasts for chicken salad later when I get home. Bread is in the bread maker for DH. That should help the week go more smoothly.

Car is fixed wow he cme to the house and did it all in the drive way no going anywhere but to the store to buy the parts. now to pack DS1 then drive. YES BFG I will think of you. It was a terrific afternoon....... Dottie beat me to the restaurant, but as soon as I walked in - there she was! We saw Jif and Peach walking up the block a little later....... I felt sooo bad for the poor waitress! She kept on coming to the table, but we were so busy talking that we weren't ready to order for ages!! If you want to know what we ate, you'll just have to go to the menu thread!!!

The one thing I must definitely say here is that it was such a joy to meet those 3 absolutely lovely ladies! Thanks, girls - I had a wonderful afternoon.......:love: :love: :love:

We had a wonderful time, just talked and talked and talked! Peach is beautiful and sweet and Jiff is elegant and fun and Samsgrama is warm and pretty and everyone felt like old friends immediately.

We ate some good chicken and ribs and then walked a few blocks away to this fabulous Italian pastry store and had iced coffees and treats. I was the worst one, but I will just say that I wasn't alone!

And we talked about EVERYONE! And we want to go to Syracuse, or Las Vegas, or New Orleans or Denver or how about Albequerque? Seattle? San Fransisco?

Well, start budgeting girls, this is going to be fun!

Yes, I think we should all start saving our nickels. I have gotten to meet a few chicks these past few months and I can not tell you how much I have enjoyed each and everyone of them! Janice said that it was more like a reunion than a meeting and she is so right. (where is Janice? Has anyone heard from her?)

For you hurler fans out there....samsgrandma is a true Met fan...she HATES the Yankees...but, I liked her anyway! Lots of fun and lots of energy!

We talked ALOT...didn't eat a thing :s: ...although I suspect Dottie may have sneaked in a few carbs and is feeling the effect with using words like beautiful and sweet and stuff like that! :dizzy: But! thank you Dottie, it was nice of you to say...feel better soon :dizzy:! with each and every chick meet, it's been introductions and then we all dive right in for yacking and gabbing and joking!!!!

there's not been a second of awkwardness or lack of warmth. i've LOVED every single person i've met face to face, and they're even more fab in person than in type.

so, having said that. meeting dottie and samnrosies grandma, well, it was nonstop talk and laughter. and seriousness, and concern and happiness. peachie and i found a parking space directly across from the restaurant [in the shade no less!!!!], and by the time we crossed the street [and that cab missed us by a mile. well, two yards, maybe], dottie was out there hugging us!!!

and then followed by samnrosies grandma... more hugs. and then that sweet waitress had the NERVE to interrupt us to ask if we wanted something to drink.. and she had to try several times to get our attention [poor thing!!!]

dottie and samnrosiesgrandma each have the warmest blue eyes. gorgeous, smart, funny, wonderful, wise, kind...

but i agree with peachie... dottie must have eaten something weird... sweet?????? elegant????? HA!!! but peachie really is beautiful, even though she refused to put on lipstick for the pics.

now, a word of warning for all you polite southern chicks... there's something about the folks up here... we all talk at the same time. there were always at least two conversations going at the same time. across the table, around the table, all over. and we jump from one to the other, and back again. what fun!!!!

we hung out for 4 hours, and it seemed as if only about 15 minutes had passed!!!

i'm so ready to do this again. and loving the idea of a fall meet...

it means so very very much to me to be meeting the wonderful ladies who have been such a source of strength and wisdom during the 'challenges' of the past couple of years.

but now, a brief lecture: SHERRIE!!!!!! rest up!!!!!! be careful!!! take your vitamins and iron!!!! don't make ruthie and janice come down there with metal bras and chicken purses!!!!

Yes ma'am. I live in fear of chicken purses, though I need to invest in that metal bra!!

Why the heck don't y'all meet in Las Vegas next time? At least that would be within range for me. :?: If I left right now for Syracuse (where the heck is it anyhow?), I just might get there by mid-September.

Oh gosh, what a lazy day I've had! DH was working (as usual) and it was pouring outside most of the day so after doing the dusting I've been promising myself to do for a week :o I have played on the computer, had an ICQ chat with my younger daughter's MIL in S. Africa, made low carb ice cream, read a good book, did some shopping for Atkins products (chocolate shake mix) and took an evening nap. I returned three swimsuits that I bought yesterday thinking they'd fit so no need to try them on and they didn't. :( I think I'm going to start a line of swimsuits for oddball shapes. I will call the line Fruit Fashions and the ones labeled with a Pear will be for my kind of shape. The ones labeled with an Apple will be for that kind of shape and the ones labeled with oohhh, what's an upside down pear shape? Papaya maybe? will be for those ladies who are bigger on the top. They will also come in short, medium and long waisted styles too. Those suits I brought home to try on looked real nice (on the hangers!!!). On my body, all the stretch was used up just fitting over my bottom half so I could barely pull the bra part up far enough to cover me and, of course, it flattened what little I have on top. NOT a pretty sight! :p The reason I didn't try them on in the store was because I'd just tried on three suits in another brand that DID fit but I hadn't liked them so naturally I assumed that these three would fit also. NOT!!!
