Hi! I'm new here. I've read quite a few posts and not sure if anyone has posted about this topic before. I just started OP last Friday (11-13) and I'm wondering if anyone else has PCOS, Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue. If so I was wondering if you have seen an improvement of your symptoms while OP. Thanks for your help! :)

I have PCOS. I'm off the crazy expensive birth control and haven't had a problem with it yet. I'm still waiting for my t.o.m. but so far so good. No crazy hormone outbreaks and I don't seem to be mood swinging.

My obgyn said one I lost around 30 lbs it would help a lot. Good luck to you!

I have fibro. At first all was weel, but then about week 2, I had a really bad episode. My dr thinks it is the extra protein, lack of carbs, and the adjustments that my body has made. It has slowly improved though. I know it will help when I get extra weight off, but it has been slower going for me.

I have been on the program a short amount of time and have felt my fibro and chronic fatigue are slowly starting to improve. Many of the foods my Dr. wanted me to avoid because they cause inflammation are eliminated on this diet. Hopefully things will continue to improve. :)

I have PCOS and have noticed my symptoms improve dramatically while OP. I used to have terrible periods that would hurt horribly and last for more than 2 weeks (sometimes even longer). I had Anthrosis Nigricans all over my body and had developed many of the insulin resistance traits that go along with PCOS. My Anthrosis Nigricans is nearly gone and my cycles have basically returned to normal. It's wonderful! I feel like a more balanced person and I have eating OP to thank for that. I'm down 65 lbs in 5 and a half months and very thankful for finding this program.

I would encourage anyone with PCOS to do this program. I would definitely talk to your dr and make sure it is something that would benefit you (and I would also hesitate to take the progesterone cream until you've asked your dr about it b/c girls with PCOS have such wonky hormones anyway it's best not to artificially mess with it unless your dr thinks it's okay.)

Best of luck to everyone!

I am new to all this, so I am wondering what "OP" stands for? It is probably a silly question, but I also have been diagnosed with PCOS, so the more info the better :)

I have fibro and have noticed a great improvement in my symptoms. Getting off the extra weight is one of the best treatments. Good luck!

I'm glad to hear your symptoms have improved. My Dr. has put me on progesterone in the past and it has not helped. I'm hoping once I get under 200 maybe I will see an improvement. Take care.

Hi and welcome! I also have PCOS and an hoping to have children, I have a long way to go..but hopefully we can be sucessful at this! :)

I was diagnosed with PCOS as a teenager and was told I would never be able to have children. Well...I have an amazing 7 year old! I'm hoping this program will help us have another child in the future. I would really like to avoid having to take fertility drugs.

I hear ya. I would like to avoid it if at all possible. One big problem with PCOS is that there are not many treatment options. I was diagnosed quite a while back and Dr.'s are still giving patients the same treatment options which in my case barely made a difference.

I was diagnosed with PCOS. I had the insulin resistance, abnormal facial hair growth, and painful periods. I was on metformin for a while to help with the insulin and to help with weight loss, but they took me off of it. I am just on birth control pills now, and they only help with the painful periods a little. My doctor wants to put me on the pill where you only have a period every three months, but I don't want to switch.
It doesn't seem to be really hurting my weightloss any, though. I have been losing weight pretty steadily, just a few fluctuations along the way.
I can sort of handle the painful periods, but what bothers me the most is the facial hair growth. I have to pull hairs from my neck, and they grow back quickly. The area above my lip has gotten darker. Has anyone else dealt with this with PCOS? I was told it's a classic sign of the syndrome. Any tips on things I can do to make the hairs harder to see or remove? It just makes me feel so unattractive and not feminine.

I have tried metformin twice in the past and it didn't help. Probably because I am not insulin resistant. As far as the hair...I completely understand. I have done hair bleaching in the past but after a while I became allergic to it and would break out in hives. I eventually had laser hair removal done to my face and arms. It was expensive and hurt like crazy but has made a h-u-g-e difference.

Add me to the list here. I have PCOS and am insulin resistant too. I take Metformin, have for about 7 years. I started it when I was trying to get pregnant with my ex husband. I asked about going off of it, but, they said there are benefits of taking it besides just wanting to get pregnant. I, also, am hoping to have children in the next couple of years.

HIGH DOSES of omega 3's (not omega 6) do so much for our health, but they also help REDUCE INFLAMMATION in the body which then helps promote weight loss. Just check into it, it might be helpful. I currently take 12 (yes, I said twelve) super omega-3 soft gels each day. I have a male friend (much larger than I am) taking 18 softgels a day. It does so many things, including slowing aging (I really like this). But you must get a high quality molecularly distilled fish oil. I personally take LIFE EXTENSION's Super Omega-3 EPA/DHA with Sesame Lignans and Olive Fruit Extract. Again, high quality. Just do a little research and see if you think this might offer some answers. And the good news is, that if you see a difference within a week or two, like my mom did -- oh my gosh, it was really hard to convince her to take 12 of these a day when the bottle says 4 -- it can be a much healthier and much cheaper fix than doctors and more and more meds! Don't take my word for it, do some research. For instance, check into what Dr. Barry Sears says about it from the the zone diet. Or Dr. Joseph Mercola. Now, if you might be someone taking a blood thinner, this wouldn't be the way to go. Bottom line, if you have huge health issues, discuss with a doctor, but I know so many doctors don't acknowledge the vast benefits of supplements. It totally confuses me why they don't, but it is often the case. Since I started this, my diabetes A1C is normal, my triglycerides are normal, my cholesterol is normal, all body organ functions are normal, my blood pressure is good! Okay, I will shut up now!

I also have PCOS. I have been on BC pills since I was in high school, so the symptoms were always taken care of. I went off the pills in September of 08 so that the husband and I could try to conceive and that's when I actually discovered I was having fertility issues. I started MRC to help with the weight gain and hoping to ease some of my PCOS symptoms. So far, I've lost about 17 pounds and I have had regular cycles for the last 3 months. Before, I would only get a period 3 to 4 times per year!

I am hoping to be at a healthy pregnancy weight by the end of the year. I also hope that the weight loss will prevent me from needing fertility drugs.
