Hey everyone! I am new here and just need the challenge. Sometimes we all need someone else to push us beyond our limits. Along the way I hope that we can all be supportive of each other and have someone to vent to if needed. I need someone to understand what it is like to be overweight and struggling to get it off. I have too many skinny friends who say they understand (when they don't) who are supportive, but I need ppl like me! So we can make the weigh in being Friday if ya want and a goal wt loss of 10lbs by the end of December.

:encore: Here's to losing weight!

Well did the weigh in this morning (I hate the scale) and was surprised to see that I have lost 3lbs! Which is great! Even better since I weighed myself on the 18th and that was when I weighed 222. I am so excited to already start my journey with this 3lbs gone from under my belt! I know I have a long road ahead of me but now there is a little less to lose along the way!

Josie, we're right about the same height and weight...I'm an inch shorter than you and 9 pounds lighter. I'd be thrilled to have someone to "challenge" me and to hold accountable.

I also have a personal goal of a 10 pound weight loss by the end of december!

That's great weebleswobble! I just need someone to put a foot in my butt when I get out of line, lol. Congrats to you on your weight loss thus far!
BTW how do you post your ticker, I need to know where to add the link at. Thanks!

I'm going to join you, I join so many longer challenges on 3fc and don't finish them, and don't reach any goals.

I'm going to try really hard to make this one.

Today's weigh in 281.6

So goal would be 271.6 end of December

Thank you so much, I needed this today.

Peggy, is it hard because it's such a long term goal? Can you make it through a day? A week?

JazzyPeggy

Weebles, I think I just forget to post on a lot of challenges like weekly posting that I just give up. I can't even keep up with the monthly points challenge on the 100 pound club, where you give yourself points on a daily basis for points, exercise, and water. Sometimes I think I just join too many challenges. So If I narrow it down to this one, and the 5 pound Goal (I don't forget that one), maybe I'll do better.

Thanks for asking. I just need to stay connected instead of being embarrassed because once again I signed up and didn't report in like I was supposed to.

I guess I should document that I'm 210. Of course, I won't be happy with a 10 pound loss of 200. :) so my goal is 199. :) ELEVEN pounds. :)

Thanks alot weebles, I just thought that I was overlooking it or something.

Good to have you join us Peggy and Cherry! Our little group is growing. We can do this little by little if we just take it one day at a time.

Good luck this week!

Hi, Josie, I need a big sign in front of my face, lol. I did exercise today and I had 52 oz of water which is great for me. A little over on the points, got to do better to move those scales down.

Josiegrl
11-24-2009, 09:41 AM
Peggy I have a 32oz bottle I got from wally world that I carry around with me during the day. I can drink 3-4 of those a day. If it is constantly in my face then it helps remind me that I need to drink all I can! I am back on board today with the exercise, I took a couple days off cause I was really sore from Friday, I have a bad knee and I also have to remind myself that I CAN'T do all those lunges, lol. Hope today is good for everyone!

Thanks, Josie, I don't forget, I just don't drink that much. But I am working on it. Good day to you, too.

Well I am really upset with myself, backup to 222. But I think it is the carbs and the tea I drank yesterday and the day before. I feel so bloated today, ughhh the holidays, ICK! I also have my sons b-day tomorrow so I know that day will be shot too. Hope everyone else done better then I did.
Congrats to you Peggy! You are doing better then me, lol. I hope to get back on track. I need a kick in the butt!

Just checkin in on everyone. Half way through the week and it has been a rough one. I watched Biggest Loser tonight (I watch every season) and my DS who is 6 asked me why I watched it. Before I could reply he said "Oh I know mommy cause you are big too, and you want to lose alot of weight like all of them did." I didn't say anything, I couldn't. I did however cry after he went to bed. I know that I am heavy, but here lately he has really noticed it and that makes me feel really bad. I am going to use that to push me when I think that I can't do another mile on my bike or another 5 minutes in my workout. I don't know why, but I just wanted to share with you guys. If anyone understands the struggle ya'll do. Hope the rest of the week is good to you all and I will see you here on Friday!

Josie, I so understand. There was a day when I didn't understand why the contestants on BL were so unhappy. But I have gained so much over the past year, that I understand now. I can go to my closet and look at my clothes I used to wear and break down in tears. I am at that unhappiness I see on the show. And I know I have to do something about it. See you on Friday or sooner for comments.

Well Ladies here I am again at 222. This was a very long week for me! It was that TOM and considering how I crave those carbs it's a wonder I didn't go up on my weight. So, I am standing on the sidelines cheering for ya'll!

Thanks Peggy for understanding. People who haven't been there just don't know. And I too know all about the closet clothes, there is some in mine that still have tags on them. I am trying to face my demons one at a time so I can be happy again. So I can once again feel good in my own skin.

Good luck to you girls this week. I'll be here sweatin my butt off and checkin in if anyone needs to talk.

Still at 221 AGAIN this week! This is getting so aggravating, trying to figure out what I need to do differently. I just don't understand why the scale isn't moving when I feel different, less swollen and such, and my clothes feel different. Uggghhhh, Patience is a virtue that I was not gifted with, lol. Hope all you ladies had a better week then me, and have a better week this week. I know Christmas is next Friday so we can weigh in before or after whatever is easier for you!

I'm down to 279.6 but there's no way I'm going to reach 10 pounds by the end of December. Just haven't worked at it hardly at all.

Josiegrl
12-26-2009, 11:07 AM
Hello ladies! Hope everyone had a great Christmas! Well I didn't lose any this week, but considering my week just maintaining was a job. Other then alll this fluid that I am now retaining (haven't been this swollen since I was pregnant) I am the same, AGAIN! But on a lighter note I have got my DH on track with me. He has <20 to lose but just having him on board with me will help out tremendously!
I know that I won't lose 10 by the end of the month either Peggy, but we just got to keep truckin along. WE can do this, it is just settin our minds to it!
Good luck this week girls!

Hey, ladies. Is it cool if I post here too? I am on a few other threads but they are pretty well established and I would love to get on one where I don't feel lost.

Since December is almost over, are you going to challenge yourself for January too?

Have you guys ever written down reasons why you want to lose weight? I have done it a couple of times and it really motivates me when I need it to go back and read it. I will give you a big one for me...I hate seeing people that I haven't seen in a long time becasue I always wonder if they are thinking about my weight. I leave them swearing that the next time they see me I am going to be thinner, and I'm not. I also record weight-loss shows on my DVR. When I need to get up and workout and don't feel like it, I watch one of them and it does the trick. Have you taken before pics? You can take them every 30 days or so. Who wants 2 pictures of themselves looking the exact same way after 30 days? One last suggestion which I'm sure you're aware of, but writing down your food and figuring out the calories REALLY helps. It sucks to write down your calories when you went over.

Well, I hope I didn't step on anyone's toes. :^:

My goal is to lose 8#s by the end of January.

-Mel.

Welcome Mel! Sure you're more then welcome to join in, the more the merrier! And you are close to me in wt and ht :)!
I do track my calories and exercise and try to figure out the calorie difference at the end of the day. I have also taken measurements and pics. You are right they do motivate you. That is how I lost 20lbs before I got preggers. My biggest problem is trying to juggle. House, kids, hubby...you know life, lol. Trying to fit in exercise is really hard. And sometimes it is easier for me to grab a sandwich and such. BUT I do have my hubby on board with me now so things should be easier when I cook.
Here's to all of us ladies and the new US in the new year! We just got to be supportive of each other and stick to it!

Josie, what other threads do you post on? There’s so many I get lost. I forgot that I posted on here. J

I know about the house, hubby and kids for sure! I have 4 daughters aged 1-18. All of my kids school at home (the oldest in online college.)

I am counting calories and working out. The usual. I have, in the past, got the amount of calories that I am supposed to be eating from ivillage. According to them I should be eating 2300. If I deduct 500 to lose weight, that would put me at 1800. I have been staying at 1800 for a week and a half and haven’t lost a pound even though I have been working out. I think I need to drop down to 1550. I also made my oldest hide my scale until the end of Jan. I am such a compulsive weigher.

I got pregnant twice after I had lost a chunk of weight. I finally got my tubes done!!! That should be it for me.

Since we are about the same height and weight, how many calories are you aiming for?

I hope we can help each other out. It would be really nice to stay connected with someone who is in this to get r done once and for all.

-Mel.

Mel, I posted on one other thread but wasn't into it. I mainly post here and surf the others when I have time....My kids are all boys 6, 2 1/2 and 7 mths, so I do what I can when I can, lol. I also have had my tubes tied, so this is all for me!

I aim for about 1500 cals. It seems to work better for me that way. Trial and error on the weightloss before showed me that. But as you know everyone is different. Sometimes I eat all day and never come close to it, but I also try to watch my carbs. Which I am starting to faithfully do now. I TRY not to eat bread but once a day if I have to. I think that I am gonna SB for 2 wks to help with my fluid problem that I seem to have. Of course it never is easy. I am a weekly weigher, when I SB I end up on them everyday it seems. So I try to refrain myself to once a week and how my clothes fit.

I am here for anyone, we all need someone to be supportive. Glad that you joined the band wagon!

MelO

I haven't ever done any of the structured diet programs. Is SB a carb/fat/protein percentage thing? Right now I'm not worrying so much about what I eat as how many calories I eat. The problem with my diet before wasn't that I ate bad, it was that I would have days where I ate maybe 500 calories and then days where I would eat 2500. I am really excited about the 1500 calories thing. I wish I had my scale to see if it is working before I put a whole month into it.

We want to move to VA. It's not where God wants us right now, so we're here in AZ. I love it there though. I haven't been there during the summer which I hear is really humid.

OK, well I need to go to the groccery store. Hope you are having a great day!

Josiegrl

The south beach diet is in 3 phases. I really like it though the first 2 weeks is the hardest. It does let you have carbs and such but it is the good ones. You know whole grain and such, things that are healthy for you to begin with. I did it before I got pregnant, then counted my calories after the first 2wks which I think you should do anyways. I think that Weebleswobbles is doing the SB diet exclusively and she could tell you more or you can look it up on here too.

And here in VA it is COLD, 19 degrees today and colder now tonight....I don't even want to go outside. Wish I had warmer weather, lol, or atleast some sunshine to melt this snow on the ground that has been here for almost 2 weeks now.

Have a good week everyone! I am cheering for us all!!!!

You know what? I think we can quit this one now. I posted that before I read the other thread. It looks like a pretty good one. I just want to get in with some people who are going to do more than just talk about/wish about losing weight. Been there, done that, ready to move on. :) (Not to in ANY WAY imply that I am talking about this thread. That is a general statement. I don't want to offend anyone.)
