Biggest Loser Challenges - RED TEAM Week 9 Chat

Hi All! Sorry I didn't get a new exercise challenge posted yesterday. But it is up there now, so join in! The results for last week's challenge will be posted tomorrow right after the weigh-in results.
I gained a little this week, probably sodium bloat from the ham we had on Saturday. I was going to take my last freebie, but maybe I better save it for Thanksgiving..........yes I think I'll do that, so I'll be posting a bit of a gain this week........sorry!

I only lost 8 oz from my previous post, but since I took a freebie last week I actually lost about 2 pounds this week. At this point for me as long as the scale keeps going down I will not complain. I have not gotten to exercise much but I have done better with my eating and water intake. Except for yesterday. I think now I am not eating enough, I just have not been hungry lately. I had my sons birthday party yesterday and I had a tiny piece of cake that just about made me sick and I did not eat one chip or any of the other snack type foods. So that is a big yah for me.
Tonight is the football banquet and we are having it at one of those all you can eat places. Which will be ok with me because I will be helping all my boys and be up and down constantly so I do not think I will over eat. My mom told me last time she ate there that the low fat options have increased so there are some semi-healthy choices and some leaner meats available.
Hope everyone has a great start to the week.
Monte- you are doing a great job!!!

Posted a loss of 1.6 pounds this week. Hubby and I went out for a Veteran's Appreciation dinner last night and I ate some things I shouldn't have so I'm not going to complain that I only lost 1.6 pounds...it could have been so much worse! Gotta go pack my lunch for work...I smoked some chicken yesterday and am going to pack myself salads and chicken for lunch this week. Saving money and calories at the same time!

i need to get more calorie burn going so i can lose weight at a steady pace....i plan to use the wii fit plus and the watp dvds to hit my calorie burn this week....if i plan to fit back into my old clothes hubby bought me before he left, then i best get my butt in gear. lol i dont want him having to buy me more clothes when he gets home cuz the others are too small....i'm gonna work on DD's quilt today and get it finished. and do my workouts. and this afternoon we'll try to walk to school to pick her up (if its not raining or looks like it will before we get home).

I can't believe we're entering week 9 already. Wow, how the times flies! I posted a modest loss, but any loss of 1-2 pounds is a win in my book!
Monte-Good strategy! I can almost guarantee I will use my 2nd freebie the Monday after Thanksgiving since I'll be going out of town that weekend for a 2nd Thanksgiving and visiting my hometown, etc. :)
AW-Good luck getting into the clothes DH bought. I can't believe your DH bought you clothes. Mine would never dream of doing such a thing anymore! LOL Maybe once I stop changing sizes....
Mommyofsix-Make sure you're still getting plenty of calories, even if you're not that hungry. You don't want your body to think you're starving and hold on to weight. Congrats on avoiding snack foods though! That's great!!
Suzanne-1.6 is a really respectable loss! I think mine was 1.4 and I was happy! Also, good job on the ecnomical and healthy choices! Sounds like you're my kind of person! ;)
The week has started out okay. All is well as far as being OP, but I've got a cold/sore throat my DS passed along to me and it stinks! I'm still doing my exercise and all just because I'm stubborn. It's not like I have a fever and aches or anything, so I don't want to be a wimp about it. But I REALLY hope it takes a hike very soon!

well i had worked hard to lose the weight and got down to 131 before hubby left, and was fitting into some 2, 4, and 6 bottoms....but let things get outta hand since he left again and am waivering around the 150 mark....and cant fit into those clothes anymore, and we'd already gotten rid of my 8s and 10s i wore last year. i initially was trying to fit back into my 8s, but by the time i got to the weight i wanted, the 8s were to big (and they were practically new since i had barely worn them), and he bought me the smaller sizes. so now i really can only wear my workout clothes.lol since i refuse to buy the old sizes i wear now. so am trying to get back into a better eating routine (he likes healthy foods and is going to the gym there for up to 2 hours a day)....and workout routines. so i can fit back in those clothes and wear some to his homecoming :) so i have a goal - wanna get back to that weight and into those clothes by mid Jan, since i'm not sure when exactly he'll get home, i figure that should be a safe time frame to get to goal in time, i hope ;) lol
but i've started drinking the V8 fusion juice (since i dont like many veggies), and lots of fresh and frozen fruits (since i do like those). am also trying to incorporate those healthy choices into my kids' diets as well. my daughter loves it, my son is the fight. lol but i try to keep strawberries, grapes, carrots, broccoli, apples, pineapples, etc in the house now. so i'm doing much better when i want a snack - i grab fruit (most days) ;) and now buy the big tub of yogurt and mix it with some 1% milk and fresh/frozen fruits to make a smoothie. which is fun ;) i share them with my daughter (when she is home and not at school). i'm trying to make an honest effort to change the lifestyle slowly, so maintenance will be easier this next time. i'm a picky eater, so that doesnt help. lol ;)
well i've had my breakfast (thank goodness for kitchen scales) ;) and about to start my wii workouts for the day, since DS is in DD's room watching her tv (he put in the Huggies potty training dvd to watch - his choice, which might help get him finished potty trained) :) LOL i can hope :)

Hi all,
Woohoo just two more weeks! I don't know if I lost anything because no scales here, so I just posted my weight as the same until I get back. So hopefully I have so a good number to help the team.
AW: How is everyone on Fort Hood doing? I saw what the VP said about it being a terrorist act, are they sure it was? My heart goes out to you and your friends and family. BTW your are the enegizer bunny when it come to exercise, I am in awe.
Monte (Antonia): You are my hero, because you always get it done no matter how busy you are. You will have to let me know how the Wii fit is. Happy Birthday again, my friend.
Ms Perception: Congrats on your loss, take care of yourself, the flu is nasty this year.
Mommyofsix: 2 pounds that is fantastic, I would be doing a dance over 2 pounds! LOL Congrats
Luckybustert: 1.6 pounds is amazing! She should be very pround. Congrats!

as far as I know, the ppl here are doing ok. trying to find out exactly why this happened is on everyone's mind. I dont think it was a terrorist thing....but who knows?!
well i like to eat ;) lol thats why i'm trying to make healthier options available in my house. but i have to kick start the workouts to burn the calories if i'm gonna make goal in time for hubby's homecoming. i did 1 hr 45 minutes on the Wii fit plus and 6 minutes on the ab circle pro. so think i had almost 1200 calorie burn (i'd have to check the exercise thread and my 3fc blog - where i'm listing my workouts).....but gotta get fit and lose this weight before hubby gets back.... ;)

made the Garlic Chicken Voila for dinner, and decided to try a smoothie recipe i got off the V8 website using the Acai Berry V8 Fusion...but i changed it up some, and it ended up being less calories/serving than their recipe :) hehehe
it has strawberry yogurt, frozen strawberries and pineapples, the V8 fusion Acai. and makes 2 (14oz) servings for only 185 calories (per serving)....which gives you some dairy, some veggie intake, and a few fruit intakes :) yummy, even DD loved it - and she almost refused bc she said she doesnt like pineapple - but she ended up loving the flavor because of the pineapple. LOL :)
I feel great :) i'm under calories and had a good dinner and smoothie. just not sure what my snack will be.....
if anyone wants the concoction recipe i made up, jlmk ;) lol

Went out of town over the weekend. I indulged a bit but I'm back on plan and in the gym today. I finished a mile in 14:22 today! For a while I kept coming in around 15:02 and was so frustrated because I just wanted to get under 15 min. So today was exciting. Hopefully I'll bust through my plateau this week. I'm sick of playing around with the same numbers!

Thanks for the prayers, our soldiers and families (and communities nearby) definitely need them right now.
And the recipe, I found the forum on here to put it, and have started it in a new thread :)
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/appetizers-beverages/186205-smoothie-v8-fusion-juice-pineapple-strawberry.html#post3007692
for everything it's 310 calories (28ozs) - I made it into 2 servings (one for me and one for DD), but could be made into smaller servings (just divide the total calories by the number of servings you decide to split it into). ;)
1 cup Strawberry Yoplait Light yogurt (140 cal)
1 cup V8 Fusion Light Acai Mixed Berry juice (50 cal)
2/3 cup frozen whole strawberries (50 cal)
3/4 cup frozen pineapple chunks (70 cal)
Makes 28 ozs - I split this into two servings (14 oz each), but you could make it into more servings if you want.
All ingredients together are 310 calories. Which made two 155 calorie drinks. Yummy The pineapple gives it a little extra kick for sweet flavor

Sounds like the bug is getting around our Red Team. I'm sending well wishes for all our ladies that are a little down now!
I had a terrible week last week... Had a few horrible days at work, and while my points were okay, my food choices included way too many "treats". I also only got in one day of walking. Had planned to get another long walk in on Sunday, but spent the entire day fighting (and losing against) a migraine. Was today before the pain finally and completely went away. (yay!)
In spite of the less than perfect week, I managed a 1 lb loss! (double yay!) Tonight I sent DH to dance class with DD and let Leslie Sansone kick my butt for 50 minutes! I still need to find another dvd, but that will have to wait til payday. Now I'm sitting here watching CSI and chugging water! I am really hoping to reach my Fall BL goal by the 19th. We're off on a cruise for Thanksgiving, and I have a particular dress that I desperately want to wear on formal night...
Hope everyone has a good week!

I got the scale out last night and of course baby Andrew had to weigh he weighs 30.9 but we want him to gain. My 11 year old decided to weigh and he is bummed that he only weighed 90. He asked when I was going to weigh I said in the morning naked. He just looked at me so strangely and I said I need and accurate weight and clothes just weigh you down. So he took off his shoes and his hoodie and went down to 86.9. He was floored at how much clothing really weighs. He of course opted not to weigh minus clothes. For the life of me even at 11 I never remember wanting to weigh more...
Congrats to the Biggest loosers and to the exercisers!!! Way to go!!!

Congrats MrsVegan for being our biggest loser this week! Also congrats to our runners up: mtiger, MsPerception, and RangerChic!
Week 8 was challenging for me in the mental dept, but I'm determined to forge ahead. I just finished working out. I did the Jillian Shape Up Back video and followed that up with about 12 minutes hula hooping. It kicked my butt! DD(6) kept coming in and giving me tips about my form. Hehe! I did make it all the way through the video and I feel pretty darn good about it. :carrot:
Hope everyone is having a positive week!

NSV: Last September I started my weight loss journey, I had to have my picture taken at work. I was shocked by the person in that photo. So I started my weight loss plan using YOU ON A DIET, and I bought a new dress to make myself feel better. Well I bought a size 18 dress off the internet thinking I must be that big. I was wrong I couldn't even get it over my head. That's when I made a vow to myself to take back my life and never again let food comfort me. So I have been trying on the dress to see the progess every few months, but I hadn't tried it on for a while until last night and it was very loose! Then I tried on a size 14 skirt I had, that at one time was too big for me, it was very tight, but I got it on. I wore that dress today, and everyone was like why are you so dressed up? I felt only you guys would understand, why I wore that dress it was my victory and mine alone. Ms. Preception, I am no size 6 yet but I am nipping at your heals in an extremally tight size 14 LOL!

Just found out that next Mon-Wed the elementary school that was coming to our English Village cancelled because of H1N1. So we now have a 5 day weekend. So no teaching yoga next week. I was thinking about going on a mini vacation but, I do have to still be in town on Monday and Wednesday night to teach the adult class. Oh well.
I hope everyone is having a good week. I'm only now getting to the point where I am not finding it hard to walk around. The gym last Saturday really knocked me down and out for 3 days. I'm heading back tomorrow to hit the treadmill and the bike.

yesterday was bad....i ate 6 krispie kreme donuts for lunch (1200 calories - yikes)....I didn't get in all my water - i almost got 40 ozs....and went over 2000 calories for eating, and only exercise was walking to/from school for DD's veteran's celebration...so less than 300 calorie burn. :( and didn't get my supplements either......course it was the memorial of the fallen from last week - i watched it on CNN live since I didn't think I could keep track of DS among the 15000+ ppl who were in attendance.
but somehow i lost .8 lbs...??!! I was 151.8 yesterday, but am down to 151 today ?? weird.
I think DS has speech therapy today, going to check my appt book. but plan to deep clean (read severely declutter) this house....it's draining me - too much stuff to keep clean. i can either be great at the housecleaning or great at the workouts, cant seem to be great at both at the same time....and realized this weekend, it's cuz the kids don't help keep their stuff upstairs - it gets scattered everywhere...and there's just too much 'stuff' for one person to clean alone - and focus on healthy eating and exercise all at the same time. so Goodwill is gonna love (or hate) me this week with all the bags and boxes I plan to have ready for them by the weekend. :)
Plus if we get to move soon - less to unpack later :) lol
This is for me and my health - and for my family - a better, happier me is better for everyone ;) besides, most of the stuff has been in the same place since we moved into this house almost 4 years ago - so obviously we aren't using it and don't need it. I'm decluttering this house so my mind will declutter. :)
Plus cleaning burns calories, right?? lol

Igetfit-I'm happy to have you hot on my heels! What a fantastic victory over the dress! I'm sure you looked incredible. I'm SO excited for you!!
Shan-Enjoy your time at the gym. No trainer this time, huh? You must REALLY hate him! LOL Just messing with you.
AW- Are you on detox today? It sounds like you're making a smart move decluttering if you suspect you'll be moving at some point in the near future. Even if not, I'm always all for getting rid of stuff you don't use. Good luck with balancing the clean house and workouts! I know it's a tough one at times.
I'm down a little today and feeling a little better. I think this cold will leave soon, but it's more of a nuisance than anything. It hasn't kept me from being OP. It's not looking like I'm gonna have much of a loss this week if things don't improve, but I'll keep on doing the right stuff and see what I get.

11-11-2009, 12:05 PM
thanks Ms P....I guess I am. I have both kids home today (due to the holiday) and they make messes regardless of if they're asked to clean up. i'm doing laundry today, and have been going thru closets in the last couple weeks, weeding out the clothes we dont wear or cant wear. DD still has way too many clothes (mostly shirts) and plan to get all the clothes clean and put away and then weed thru them again. I had to dig out the closet extension to make double rods in her closet because it was too full, and her plastic dresser we used to use for toys is now holding extra jeans and shorts...but DS is finally hitting a growth spurt and a lot of his stuff is getting too small. so i have the two extreme going on with their clothes - she has too many and he doesnt have enough.
so I plan to attack the house (and her closet/dressers) today, since i dont have to go anywhere (except maybe walmart for milk)....i'm going to look around each room at everything and if we dont/cant use it anymore - it's going in the boxes, then when i run outta boxes - will start on bags ;) lol
i'm hoping that by the weekend, i'll have less house to clean, and can better balance the house and my eating/workouts. I've been reading a book i got from the library (which i plan to recheck out on Saturday when it's library day)....it's called Cleaning and the Meaning of Life: Simple Solutions to Declutter Your Home and Beautify Your Life - it's a great book and very eye opening (yes i'm a weird person who loves to read books about organization, clutter, and procrastination).....so considering buying it for my kindle, so i will always have it to look back on when needed (and wont clutter the shelves with books). ;)
MrsVegan00

Well thank you all for the congrats yaya i was biggest loser twice =) that makes me happy but this week it really sucks, i cant go to the gym cause of my mouth and cant really move around to much ive been off work since last thrusday,it is soooo boring!!!!!! oooo Congrats to all the runner ups! and great job everyone who finished the exercise challenge! i hope everyone does great this week! and keeps their heads up!!!

well on Amazon they have the book in used condition for like $0.82 plus shipping (which for a book is $2.98 i think)....but the kindle version is $9.96 - cost more but it sends directly to my kindle. i see they also have a kindle for pc - its similar to the kindle in the setup but its on your computer (and its free, vs the $259+ cost of the actual kindle). now i can send my books to either one if i want. i have a saved for later list on my kindle - so i can go buy them once we get paid ;) lol but most books are less than $9.99 - i used to love buying the cheap used books on amazon, till i got my kindle (when the kindle2 was released - now it's $100 cheaper :( ) go figure....now i dont have to dust the books or find them., i still have books scattered everywhere, since i have no where to put them ....lol ;)
hubby just got offline, so i can go eat lunch and make lunch for the kids, then get started on the cleaning of the house (he's been online for a few hours, so i've been 'nailed' to my office chair..) now i need to get my energy and motivation to get it cleaned up in here (plus the kids have been cutting and taping paper - so my dining area is a disaster to say the least) :(

Well I am going to do it (run) when I am smaller, right now I am concerned about my knees. All this excess weight is not good for them and I was told not try running until I was close to my goal weight. I wanted to run because Jillian was always saying on her radio show running just shreads the fat off. But my doctor said no.
I have been trying to get on all day and the board won't let me..... Did anyone else have trouble?

yes i'd had issues too. i'm on now, but its not showing any tickers....it's weird. lol or that part could just be my computer.
today was payday, came a day early. so was busy all day running around town shopping. got me and DS some new clothes at the veteran's appreciation sale on Old Navy (my fav store). got a performance fleece jacket for only $14.01 (it was normally $34.50 - but was on sale for $20 then i got the 30% off) - so am thrilled ;) and a few more tank tops (like i need more-i have a drawer FULL already-but needed, well wanted, some new colors - plus they were on sale too) ;) and some workout shorts. and got DS some LS shirts and jeans (they had toddler boy jeans for 2 for $22 - and with the sale and discount - i got 2 pairs for $15.40 - one pair is normally $16.50, so awesome deal there). ;) then hit the walmart for their $3.50-5 LS shirts and pants. so he's set for the winter now ;)
plus learned that kmart and sears will layaway a ps3 console, just have to find it in store to do it for hubby ;) and toys r us does it too. ;) but hubby saw somewhere where amazon.com was supposed to BF is for 199. so gonna try that first ;)

Just dropping by to say I hope everyone has a good end to their week. It's TGIF here in SK. My 5 day vacation starts in less than 45 minutes. I am staying here on the island, but looking forward to some time to rest and relax. I've been sick this week with a slight cold and each day it knocks me down a little further. got to talk to my friend in GA last night. was good to have a long talk with her, haven't got to talk to her in a while....she was my first college roommate back in '99.
I'm back down to 150.4 today....haven't had time or energy to workout lately. So hoping to get back into it later today and wear my new workout shorts ;) but for now at least i'm warm in my new old navy black sweatpants :) I'm going to work on hubby's fleece quilt.....it's already getting cold there at night and i need to get it done and mailed before it's too late and they aren't accepting mail anymore.
my son is so cute in his new O.N. jeans - he looks so grown up in a real pair of jeans (and not just the lookalikes they have at walmart)....our baby's not a baby anymore :( he'll be 4 soon.....i'm a proud mama....that's starting to feel old - esp with our oldest about to turn 7 and in the 1st grade. ;) lol
oh well, i'll be back on later. I have DS occupied watching his handy manny movie, so i can go upstairs and get hubby's quilt done. have a lot to do before it's ready to mail.

haven't had time to workout lately, been too busy working on hubby's fleece quilt to send him. trying to get it sent soon so it gets to him before the stop mail deadline (they stop mail appx 1 month before they head home, so they can have their stuff packed and on its way back home) :)
So have been super busy working on that. finished the top today :) going to put the back together tomorrow when i wake up. and hope to get it mailed sometime on Monday. ;)
i'm tired, but glad the site is back up and running... once i'm done with hubby's football quilt, i will have lots of house to clean - the kids have been busy destroying it and making big messes - but i dont have a deadline on that like i do with beating the mail stop :0 lol oh well, i'll burn extra calories on that when i'm doing the heavy cleaning. lol

Oh good, it wasn't just me. Even though I'm not a regular poster, I do lurk on the boards and read people's posts. It was killing me too not to be able to do that!!
I'm finally staying in the 154s. I got back into walking and starting counting calories again. I remember around the 160 point, this started happening to me where I bounced between 161 and 162 but never going below 161. Then I realized that I was taking it easy and not paying attention to my portions or the kinds of foods I was eating. Well, what do you know? It's happening again. Yesterday, I ate out for lunch and dinner but controlled portions. I'm up 0.3 lbs this morning from yesterday but that's ok by me. Normal fluctuations. I know I'm getting closer to my goal weight because any loss I've had has been in the 0.Xs. Hmm. I did walk 5 miles the day before yesterday and 3.25 miles yesterday. Went shopping and tried on a pair of sz 8 black pants that fit perfectly. Last night went shopping for hubby and tried on sz 10 jeans and found that they were snug. :( I was hoping to be a snug 8. Why are jeans always a size up from dress pants or is it just with me? I fit into sz 8 black dress pants I tried on, but the stupid jeans are tiny at a sz 8. Grrrr.... I guess that's a goal I need to work on. :)
How's everybody doing? Armywife - love that quilt! I wish I had sewing talent; I'd make myself dresses and shirts that complement my body instead of being a slave to the department stores. ;)

thanks Sunni ;) I'm not good at making clothes ;) I hope to eventually learn how. My mom and aunt are great at making clothes - maybe I'll get a chance to learn how to make clothes when I'm home in GA long enough to get some lessons ;) lol for now, I'm making quilts, a dog bed, and curtains and other stuff ppl dont wear. LOL

Hey all! I weighed in today with a decent 1.2 pound loss. I've nearly hit my initial goal, but plan to continue losing as I decrease my body fat to more healthy percentage. Unfortunately, I overate at lunch today which I'm not sure why I did it. We ate out and I wanted somehting I hadn't had for awhile. We ended up at a small breakfast buffet and I did NOT stop when my body told me to. UGH!!! I'm mad at myself for doing it. I hadn't been off plan for quite while, so I was feeling great about that, but it just goes to show I'm still a work in progress. Now it's a light healthy supper for me and LOTS of water to flush me out!! Have a great rest of the weekend girls!

Hey all..did much better this week with a 4.5 pound loss instead of only 1 pound like last week. (Amazing how you can actually lose weight when you don't stuff your face full with Halloween candy for 4 days straight, lol). Anyways, I was just wondering if I am missing it, but is there another place with the week's weigh in results and winners besides the main thread that hasn't been updated for weeks?

I have been posting them in the chat threads. Dixied has not been around much, and I don't have admin access. As a matter of fact, I need to make sure Blue Team got their numbers posted.........

Hello everyone! I've missed being on here for the past 3 days. The site must have been down or something. Here' s what you've missed going on in my life:
1) Have a 3 day vacation this week because an elementary school cancelled because of swine flu.
2) I've been dating a wonderful Korean man for 2 weeks now. Things are going amazingly well.
3) I hiked a HUGE, and I do mean HUGE mountain yesterday morning.
4) I weighed in this morning with a..............6lbs loss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOHOO! Only 20 more pounds to go to make my new year's eve challenge! Hope everyone is doing great.

Shan84, congrats on the great loss this week ;)
I've finished putting the strips together for the back panel of hubby's quilt. gonna make the kids some pasta (that's what they want for dinner) and then put them to bed so i can sew the strips together so i have one big panel :0 then tomorrow can start on putting the three layers together and quilting it :) depending on how tomorrow goes, I hope to get it done tomorrow, or tuesday at the latest ;)
I weighed in at 150 this morning...cant seem to get out of the 150s right now. but hopefully once this quilt is done, i can resume a life again...lol....and get back to my workouts - after i clean the disaster known as my house ;) lol

Hi everyone! I spent the last three days at the hospital with my hubby....he had surgery to repair six hernias....he's at home doing well now, and I'm trying to recover from 3 days of eating whatever was easily available (as opposed to eating what was on plan). Sticking to the plan well today so I feel like I'm getting back on track. I haven't been doing so well in the exercise department....my goal for the coming week will be 5 days x 45 mins. on the treadmill, and to log my food and exercise daily in the accountability thread.

Down a smidge this week. Feeling craptacular after a half week binge. Went to the gym for the first time in a while and damn, my thighs still feel it! :ebike:

Weighed the same this week as last week.....not complaining, with all the crap I ate while hubby was in the hospital earlier in the week it could have been much, much worse!

I must say sorry to the red team I have only lost 2 pounds this entire challenge. I am not complaining because I have not gained but the weight seems to just be holding on for dear life. I did rake the yard Saturday and Sunday and my arms are so sore so I hope maybe with hard work and exercise this week I can jump start a loss.
I went to my 2nd of 4 kids birthday parties and I did not eat any cake. I ate a little bit of chex mix but other than that no snacks. So I am doing great in the resisting temptation area. I have also been finding so recipies for thanksgiving that I think I can alter a little to make lower in calories.
This week I am concentrating on getting in my water everyday and getting some form of exercise whether it is yard work, a DVD or jogging.
Congratulations to everyone who lost week!!!

:carrot: Great job everyone on the weight loss, some big losers this week!!
I am down a little bit this week, which I'm happy about; it could have been a lot worse, it was a rough week foodwise. I'm so ready to get back on plan, and today is definitly my day.
