Default I'm a 43 year old NEWBY.

Hello. I'm Tammy. I'm 43, live in Vegas with my 2 dogs. I am a newby on this sight, but I'm not a newby to being overweight. I recently purchased a weight loss book by a talk show host, and I'm ready to lose some weight. I cleaned out my fridge and my cupboards this morning, did 10 minutes on an elliptical, rode my horse, and I have decided to split my meals in half to eat 6 smaller meals. I am going to drink more water, quit eating junk food, reprogram my activities so I am set up for success. I would like to lose 100 lbs. by this time next year. I am also a smoker, but I'm taking this all 1 day at a time. I learned about relaxation techniques, so I will learn not to eat emotionally or when I'm stressed out.

I spent a couple hours on 3FC site yesterday, and I loved seeing the support and the success stories. Even the "tickers" of people responding were impressive. So, here I am, and I'm totally psyched.

It comes off fast at first when you've got a boatload to lose! I'm down to losing about 10 pounds a month now. The beginning was much more fun, but I'll take my 10 now. Just remember, you don't have to tackle everything at once. I got my eating squared away first and that was about all the change I could comfortably handle and sustain for a while. Just now am working on exercising more. It's so doable once you get in the right frame of mind. Focus on making good choices that are aimed at taking care of yourself. You can do it!

Hi Tammy!
Sounds like you're ready to go and have a good plan in place - good luck with your goals - we'll be cheering for you along the way!

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different plans to help get you through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a short time myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
