Okay here we go with another week of good exercise habits! :D I just started an exercise challenge on another board for newbies using "The Firm" workout videos, so......my goal this week is to do the Firm workouts MWF and do the Walk Away 3 Miles T TH S. Tall order for a short out of shape woman, but I am going to give it my best shot. I DID get in the Cardio Sculpt tape today (or most of it) WOW--if you live through it, it should work.

Anybody else with exercise goals this week or updates on exercise progress??

Have a good week!

Sue, my money is on you!! If Rumplestiltskin can spin straw into gold than I know you will get those scrubs ready on that sewing machine for tomorrow. I'll help you keep going as you go back to work if you can help me when school starts, that is when I seem to lose focus and fall apart. How about being partners in crime here????:D

If I can shake this headache, I will be on the treadmill tomorrow. I have a really nice Total Gym that I haven't used yet. :( I got a piece of carpet to go under it so it won't be so crappy to lean on cold concrete, and then I need to set up the TV so I can follow along with the video. My goal is to have that booger set up by the end of the week.

to be able to lift my right leg off the bed three inches without help!!!

Basically I have a group of six exercises I do in the bed twice a day and another group of about 6 that I do sitting in a chair 3 times a day. I plan to dig out my Oxycise Easy Does IT tape to do at the time I do the bed exercises.

The doc say's it will be about 3 weeks before I can start back my regular exercise program, and about a month before I can get into the pool again.

But he also said the fact that I'd been doing so much exercising and was in such good shape was the reason I was able to come home on the third day post op!!

Barb, glad the doctor was smart enough to acknowledge your hard work-and that it paid off in being able to come home early from the hospital. Good luck with your therapy exercises-they will be quite a challenge I bet.

I did get in my 3 Mile Walk Away Tape today even though I was sore from doing the Firm CardioSculpt yesterday. Now I am feeling muscles in my legs I had totally forgotten that were there! Tomorrow is my 2nd CardioSculpt day--keep your fingers crossed!!! :strong:

Well, I woke up feeling pretty yucky today--kind of fluey and it really did hang around most of the day. So instead of doing the Cardiosculpt I made myself at least do the 2 Mile Walk Away tape. It wasn't as much as I wanted to do, but considering how I felt it was the best I could do. Hoping for more tomorrow!

Hi guys, didn't get my exercise in yesterday--I was just flat out too busy darn it! But, today I made up for it! I did The Firm lower body workout and then did the 2 Mile Walk Away tape. I was a wringing wet glistening beauty when I got done. :o Hope these things start paying off!!

Annie: What is Cardiosculpt? That sounds interesting? I did get out my Oxycise tapes out and have done a workout in the bed every day this week. I know it helps. My therapy exercises are going really well. I feel like I will be able to start getting out when I go to the doctor and get my staples taken out next week.

Can't wait to be able to get back to the pool. I really miss that.

Hope everyone else is doing good in the exercise department!!! It's as important as what you eat!!!

Ahhh Barb, I think you are going to have wait on Cardiosculpt til you leg is better. It is a weightlifting program with different level boxes used. It puts a lot of stress on knees I think, of course I am a TOTAL rookie at it right now. I am so glad that you are doing so well and doing the Oxysize tapes too. You are just doing great and you will be :strong: before you know it!!!!

i've been such a slug this week, but only about posting!!!!! <gotcha!!!!>

i've walked at least 1.25 miles every day this week except for wednesday [ozone alert and too humid] and yesterday [very early morning appt with eye doc].

and today, i think i did 1.5 miles!!!

and i made the pulmonologist happy on wednesday when i told him what i'd been doing, and also when i told him that i didn't do it on humid ozone days. [he said that there was no sense being STUPID about this!!!].

if only he weren't happily married!!!!

Jiff: Have you ever tried Oxycise? It's a great exercise program combining deep breathing exercises with isometric positions. I know I'm not a doctornot ever a nurse !!! (but I did work in a billing office  but I think this would be great for your pulmonary function. It teaches you how to exercise and use your whole lungs when you breath. They have a series called Easy Does It that I bought for ole Alvin when he couldn't don much more that sit in his chair. The regular set is very good. The urls for them are Oxycise.com and oxyciseplus.com also we have an Oxycise thread here at 3FC under the exercise heading. Check it out and if you are interested PM me. I have bought so much from them that I have a few extra tapes and I'd be glad to send you one. That goes to anyone else who is interested. Just PM me with your info, and I'll send you a tape, as long as they last.

I've been doing my Oxycise aloong with my rehab exercises. I've been doing them from the bed!!!

Adoanne: You don't think I could do the Cardiosculpt fromm the bed or the recliner? BUMMER:idea:

Are yall all ready for me to get well, get a life and leave yall alone!!! Nah, I'm not bored...

Jiff I have been very impressed with those infomercials. There is one guy on the oxycise pluss web site that is a regular on the PP board. we call him mud duck and well he is absolutly amazing. so i say go for it. It worked for him (combo) so i think it could workf great for you especially as barb says the lung capacity. some folks that i know tried it say you make funny faces when doing it but who cares i guess some of those thingsyou can do driving while waiting for a light?? i think that would be better to have some one look over ans see you making all kinds of funny faces instead of picking you nose (have you ever seen that) well i am getting off topic. but my guess is try it!!

Oh i did exercise yesterday I amnot sure what i am gong to do today I have a very busy filled morning and afternoon. so i have no idea if i get time to eat but i make time to come here!!

Hi Guys!! I did the Arm workout from the Firm tape today with 3lb. weights and then did the 3 mile Walk Away Tape===I feel "tingly". I think that's a precursor for sore.

Hey Barb, you can do Cardiosculpt from your recliner, but somehow I don't think the results will be quite the same. ;) That Oxycise sounds really cool--going to look at those sites.

Jif, good job on keeping it up on the walking and increasing your distance!

Sue, your determination is going to keep you going with this exercise--I know it!!

Good job everyone!! Take care.
