Hello all. Hope everyone is doing well. I was a bit surprised when I jumped on the scales this morning and discovered I'd lost 2.4 lbs. I'm must be honest and say I'm excited that I haven't given up yet and I'm actually taking my weight loss seriously this time. I really feel good about myself and can't wait until I'm at goal. I'm only 1 lb away from having lost 10 lbs. I guess I should run for now. Everyone have a great day.

I'm not sure. I sent her a PM about it, but didn't get a response. I will continue to post the results in our chat threads until she has a chance to updated the official results thread.

IgetfitNStrongforme, Monte~

Ladybug2680~ Congrats on 2.4lbs.!!!

So… not a good weekend… I didn’t eat a lot, but it was all the wrong foods. UGH! Gym after school today and then WW meeting which is going to suck as I am predicting a gain there as well. I took my first ever freebie this week… I feel like I have let everyone down…

i went to the dr this morning and got good pain and anti-inflammatory meds for my back and knees - she had me get xrays fo the knees and back to see if there's an underlying issue...so will see about that if she calls me with any news.
i'm going to kmart after i eat lunch to see if they have the BL Wii workout - its listed at 19.99 right now (half price) - and want to get it. my mom is getting one for herself (she just ordered teh wii off dell's website for less than 200) :) so she said if i cant find it in our rinky dink kmart, she'll see about getting it at her kmart in ga - which is much bigger than mine here in tx. ;) excited!!! hope they have it so i can add it to my workout routine ;)

I posted a loss for the week, but have some candy to work out of my system yet. I got great workouts in this morning...dripping sweat=good stuff!! I'm glad to satrt the new week and the new month. I'm feeling refreshed today for whatever reason and I'm doing some looking into what I should have as a good maintenace weight. I think this challenge should get me to it, or at least I hope so! I can't be slacking off here at the end!! I need you ladies to keep me on track.

KimL-Don't even talk that way! You aren't letting us down when you have a set-back. You just get back up and keep on moving! The worst thing you could do is get down on yourself and want to quit. You're too valuable for that, so I'm glad you came to post and are taking steps to move in the right direction. Take care of yourself, woman! We're here to support and help, not kick ya while you're down.

AW-Hope you're able to get the BL Wii game. I was curious to hear what people think of it.

I gotta be gone, but hope you all enjoy a healthy, happy day!!

KimL: First of hello my friend I am sorry I haven't stopped bye to say hey, I am on a retreat and only can use the internet when they let me. Second my friend you are not letting us down. Don't even talk that way, because you are a vital member of this team. I lost nothing this week after being last weeks biggest loser for the team, so please just stop that stinking thinking as my old pastor use to say.

Ms Preception: I love working out to the point were I am dripping sweat I am very jealous, as can't really don't that here on the retreat.....

Monte (Antonia): Thanks for the FYI, I do hope that Dixied is not sick but just busy. Again my friend you are doing an flipping amazing job for us! :hugs:

AW: I just wanted to give you the heads up on anti-inflammatory meds, in case your doctor didn't mention this but they can cause fluid retention, so if you do gain weight it's that. Once you get off of them the fluid retention goes away. I was given them when I was injuried and I gain all this water weight and the doctor never mentioned this would happen.

Okay I must go back to pray and meditation, so I will try and check in soon.

i was on anti inflammatorys when i was younger, and it actually caused me to lose teh water weight (which at the time was bad, since i was on lithium and it required teh excess water to move the meds in my system)....so i think it works opposite on me. LOL :) thanks for the heads up though, just in case it does bloat me instead of deflate me :)

Good morning everyone! Its a very chilly Tuesday morning here in SK. Hope all is well with everyone. Today I start teaching the yoga class full time. I did one class yesterday and it was great. Today I have 5 classes. Woohoo! I'm also going to the gym for 2 hours after work with a friend of mine. Looks like it might be a good week for me. :)

I wasn't able to get the BL Wii game, my little Kmart didn't carry it, even though they advertised it. lol So I have my mom checking her local Kmart for the game.
She's ordered her Wii off Dell.com and plans to go to target soon for their Wii Fit Plus/Board/BL game/cookbook/membership combo since it's a great price. She's getting on the band wagon of Wii fitness workouts as a fun way to jazz up her workouts to try to break the plateau - since she knows how much fun I have doing it. I love the new Fit Plus much better then the original ;)
well i need to get kids to bed so i can go outside and change the back blinker light on the van - so no one will honk at me tomorrow cuz it wont be blown anymore. LOL then watch my one tree hill. i might set the wii fit on and use the free walk - which just lets you use the board as a step for X amount of minutes while you watch real tv. kinda neat idea ;)
oh and i saw in a sales flier or something that they are now selling an everlast step kit for the wii board - to make it taller to use like a real aerobic step while working out and making it more multi-functional. i soooo have to have that ;) will be very handle and versatile :)

AW-Oooh...I like the idea of being able to put something on the Wii balance board to make it more like a step. It would really intensify some of the activities nicely! Hope your mom can get the BL game for ya.

Igetfit-Hope you're really enjoying your retreat. I wish I could go to one! It's funny my former pastor also talked a lot about stinking thinking....

Today was a really good day, start to finish. I hope to have lost at least half the candy/pizzeria weight in the morning. I really didn't go THAT overboard, but my scale would have me believe otherwise! LOL Anyway, onward and downward....

Oh it's hard Ms Perception NO TV! I realized I am slightly addicted to TV, I am HDRing all my show but this is very hard. But I can't watch BL until I get back and I am sure the scale will shine in your favor.

Ms Perception - it's more like risers that go under it. i think it's awesome. I am considering buying a set on our next payday ;)
here's a link to show you what they are (and order). http://www.everlast.com/Wii-Aerobic-Step/productinfo/EVWIISTEP/ def a great idea :) so wouldn't have to buy a separate step for aerobics - think it'd work great in the wii fit basic and advance step 'game' where you're doing some step aerobic type stuff. awesome ;) i'm excited for all new workout things coming to the wii. i so wish i'd had something like this growing up - fun workouts. ....lol

here's the Target bundle that's the Fit Plus and board with BL cookbook/game (http://www.target.com/dp/B002ONNDDM/ref=sc_qi_img_viewdetails?ie=UTF8&title=view%20full%20details) - it's a sweet deal

Hi everyone! This week I posted a loss and I actually beat my previous low with 155.2! Then I went home (parents') and although I didn't overeat, I didn't eat the right stuff so I'm nervous about weighing in this morning. Sigh. Despite my best intentions, I just can't seem to stop gaining weight/water weight when I go home.

I did workout for at least an hour when I was up there so I'm happy about that. This week, my goal for exercise is 416 minutes!!! Holy moley. That's slightly under an hour everyday. Need to keep myself on the ball because I want that badge!!! :D

Alright, will check back in. to all! :)

I must apologize that I did not post a weigh in yesterday. I was so slammed at work I did not even get a lunch break or a chance to log on to the internet. I got home and had 2 sick boys and time got away from me. I was doing the dishes this morning before I left for work and it hit me that I did not post. Luckily I had not previously used any freebies so that would be my first. Also I did not loose any and this morning I was up a pound so it probably worked out for the best.

We have a wii but I have not gotten the wii fit yet. I do want to get the biggest looser for the wii. I have not been to motivated to exercise lately. Saturday I did walk the entire time the kids trick or treated. I even walked when they road in the car. So I hope that helps some. I must admit I did eat some carmel popcorn and some peanuts. I did not eat any candy though. I have not been eating to bad lately just not getting enough veggies. I need veggies to fill me up and keep me from going for the sweets. I did make some chicken last night and added some brocoli to it. I do not particularly like brocoli but I ate it anyway.

I am worried about weight gain and the next 2 months. My 9 year olds bday is Saturday, then thanksgiving, my 6 year olds bday,my 13 year olds bday, all kinds of christmas dinners/parties. I am not sure what I am going to do. The birthdays I can control because they are in my home, but the rest will be a big test of my will power. It also seems that as gifts we get an enormous amount of candy/treats all through the month of Decemeber. SO what are you ladies going to do to get though the holidays?? Any suggestions would help. I am looking for healthy eating options and cooking options.

The following team members have used more than two freebies, and are no longer eligible for the Biggest Loser Title. Of course this doesn't mean you can't participate in the chat or challenges, but your weigh-ins will no longer be counted in the weekly results.

cakses

As a heads-up, the folowing team members have already used both of their freebies, so need to be sure and post their weight on time so they can stay in the running for the Biggest Loser Title.

Congrats to Blue for winning the weigh-in!
It looks like it was pretty close. We'll just keep going and see if we can't make this week count. I know some of us have to undo a day (or several) of poor food choices, so let's get to it! I think in another couple days, I should be back on track. I woke up with some water retention still, so once that goes, I should be fine. I think part of the retention has to do with the ST'ing yesterday anyway, so it's all good! In the grand scheme of things, I'm happy with how this month has started. I feel refreshed and ready to meet the challenge of another month. Thank the good Lord for that since I was getting weary laltely.

Mommyofsix-There's no magic formula to the holidays for me. Tell people to PLEASE not give you and your family candy or sweets if you can without offending them. Many people are very understanding of those trying to make healthier choices. Suggest other things that are inexpensive and easy for that person to do or explain that no gift is necessary. I don't have that happen too much since everyone knows I'm trying to be more careful about what I eat so they don't give that stuff much. When it does though, I usually have one or 2 treats (if I really like them) and let the kids have it and it's gone pretty quickly. I guess my take is that it's okay to have something you really enjoy, but just have a small or reasonable portion and be done. Don't graze or go nuts on things, especially if it's something that you're not crazy about anyway. The first few bites are the best, so savor them. I also have 2 birthdays (DS and DD) in the next few weeks and just plan to make reduced cal/fat cupcakes (never had a kid turn one down!) for the parties--it controls portion size and I know exactly how many cals are in it. Then I work it into my day and it doesn't even affect me. I know you'll make good choices when the time comes. Baby steps matter. Just shoot for improving one thing (like reducing the amount of sweets/treats to 1 or 2 per day) and then once you get that down, move on to somehting else you can improve (maybe only having sweets every other day). Eventually you'll get yourself to a point where it's not that big a deal, ya know? Wow, I really went on about that, but good luck with the coming months! We'll all need it.

Sunni: It's probably hidden salt, it happens to me when I eat foods prepared by ours. I get the worst fluid retention.

just finished 53 minutes of wii fit plus - i'm sweaty - which is good. i'm letting DS play wii sports while I get lunch ready. will do some WATP later, after we eat lunch ;) but i figured since i missed yesterday - to hit my week goal on here i need 52.5 minutes/day today till Friday. so i have met that for the day, plus want to get more workout in, but know that i can only count the first 60 minutes i do today. ;) it's all good though - since i'm burning extra calories :D

MS Perception- you are right about limiting the sweets. I must do that for sure. THe Bdays are easier for me because I am usually so busy cleaning and hostessing the parties that it is easy to resist the bday cake. With the homemade holiday treats it will be hard. My mom who is my biggest weight loss supporter is also my nemisis at the holidays because she loves to bake sweets. For halloween she made me 100 calorie popcorn with light carmel. so she does try. I told her she better not give me chex mix because I can not stop eating that stuff if it is homemade. So I also was very clear to coworkers that I expect no presents at all and if they make something to give my co-worker more because he loves to eat so hopefully it helps. Right now I am researching a recipie for low-fat cheesecake.

Congrats to all the Biggest Losers this week! :)

I'm almost totally converted to a vegan diet now. The last two weeks have been busy for me. I got sick of course at the end of October and ended up in the er, then that weekend (which was not this weekend but the previous one), my car had trouble. So, ended up getting new tires and an alignment on the car. Then, last Friday, I got sick again! This time, it was a fluish bug that lasted until about Saturday. I got my flu shot, but I guess it was something not in the shot. Anyway, I'm finally doing and feeling better. And, trying to get back into my workouts again since I've been slacking.

Hope you all are doing well. Have a good week!

I feel so ashamed! I didn't do any exercise today. Not even one solitary crunch. At least I managed to stay under 1500 calories, but with my exercise goal I'm going to have to average over an hour for the rest of the week if I'm going to make it. I fully intend to get in at least 75 minutes tomorrow!

But didn't you put a daily limit of 60 minutes that we can count towards our weekly challenge? I missed monday's workouts - but luckily i can still average them out for the remaining tues-sat (since i dont workout on sundays) for under the max daily limit.

Ms Perception
11-04-2009, 09:48 AM
AW-I took the limit as for the week. So, you don't need to go over 420 for the week, which averages to 60 min a day. If you don't workout daily, you can still go over 60 min on certain days, but stay under 420 for the week.

MonteCristo-Do you workout everyday? I take a planned rest day once a week just to rest my muscles (legs especially). Don't beat yourself up over it, you can surely get in your minutes still!

Today has started well. I got in my healthy breakfast, water, vitamin, and exercise. Now, I'm about to head out for a day with my mom. We're getting haircuts and hopefully doing a little shopping. I could use some nice casual pants in my size. Well, I hope all you fine ladies have a fantastic, healthy day!

Well I did, sort of. The limit was that you didn't have to add the 10% once you got up to 420 minutes for the week (average 60 minutes per day), but you could still do more. I knew I didn't make that clear enough. See the challenge is to increase your previous week's exercise by 10%, but I didn't want to kill anyone (lol), so you don't have to go over 420 minutes per week, but you still can if you want. Sorry for the confusion.

I don't have a planned rest day, because unplanned ones seem to pop up, so I'd end up "resting" way too much. ;) I don't do much intense exercise, usually just walking, or stepping, so I don't usually have problems with sore muscles. I'm sure I can still get my minutes in, I just hate having to put a big fat 0 down on all my progress charts. I'm also kind of nervous about my impending birthday (Saturday). We are having cake at work on Friday, then the family is gong to have cake on Saturday, plus a special birthday meal.............I'm already hanging on to extra water weight since I started back to running, and I don't want to totally throw off my weight loss.

Hey everyone... I want to apologize for not being too active the last few days.. i have been in alot of well i wont say pain, but discomfort. II have had bowel problems... severe bloating and last night I woke at 3am after having a horrible time getting to sleep and when I went to the washroom,.. what I thought was diaherrea turned out to be blood... so I spent the remainder of the night etheir in the tub filed with hot water to ease the pain in my tummy, or curled up on the floor mat int he bathroom. I went to the doctor this morning and he ran a whole bunch of xrays and blood work. He is testing me for Didiverticulitis, Crohnes, and Celiacs Diseases. He is sure it is one of them. So I am now on two differant types of antibiotics, and then I have to go back to see him and have a colonoscopy scheduled to narrow it down to which inflammatory bowel disease it is. I am so good with my diet too because i know that white flour and lot of sugar bloat me badly. But with Halloween (cheesies) in the house on Saturday, and then left overs from a bake sale on Sunday... I did not eat MUCH of those things but ate too much for how my body reacts to it i guess... aghhhh today I am sticking to water and mild food.. broth, jello.. type things.. as I am even having a hard time eating those things. I am heading to work now as even though I am so exhausted laying down increases my discomfort so I may as well get paid to stand .. I also am going to take myself out of the Week 8 Challenge as I know I will not be able to meet my exercise goal at this rate... Hopefully by the weekend I will be back to normal and will hit it hard next week.. thanks for understanding guys!! lol Sorry again for being MIA.. be back this evening :grouphug:

THATS GREAT!!! a vegan diet can be challenging but if you need any help let me know!! im glad you are feeling better now, that sounds like a rough few weeks!

Hello all! i havent been here in a little while, ive been so busy with work, i do most of the swing shift it either 10 to 7 or 11 to 8, so no time for anything but the gym! i think that i am retaining a lot of water, im not sure if its number one or number two lol but either way its one of them and it always gets me down! :?: i believe i have IBS but never been tested for it but it has made last week and this week a little difficult. i hope this week gets better for everyone! well this is my chatter for the day i will be back though tomorrow since i am getting my wisdom teeth pulled YAYAAAA lol maybe that will help my weight this week lol jeee anywho, have a great day!

Monte~ Thank you for posting the results! Did you get your workout in today?

Ms Perception~ I’m excited for you because I really think you will reach your maintenance weight before the end of the challenge. Thank you for the encouragement! I feel you on wishing I could undo a couple days. I got the best sweats at Walmart last week.

ArmyWife02~ The everlast step kit sounds really cool! Awesome job with your workouts!

Cape Breton Chick~ I hope you feel better!

MrsVegan00~ yikes! Good luck with your wisdom teeth!

Mommyofsix~ I’m going to use a lot of WW strategies as I do very little of the holiday cooking. Things like smaller plates, making sure to ask at family dinners that the food be covered when it’s on the table, and drinking lots of water before, during and after dinner. The 100 cal popcorn with light caramel sounds super yummy!

RangerChic~ Yikes! I hope you’re feeling better!

Igetfit~ Thank you! How is your retreat so far?

dcapulet~ How do you think you did on your midterms?

shan84~ How did your yoga classes go?

Sunnigummi~ Congrats on your loss!

I feel like I’m breathing fire right now as I’m quickly relapsing, but unfortunately in the form of fever, aches… did I mention that I work in a school that is currently starting to have issues with the swine flu? I couldn’t get vaccinated because there were no vaccines when I finally felt better… so… I’m a little annoyed right now as I have a feeling I know what’s coming, but am crossing my fingers that I have been boosting my immune system enough over the past few months to fight it off. So on that note… I’m going home and taking a nap!

Angela ~ I hope the doctor pinpoints something soon and you get better!

Sorry I've been MIA. My body is rebelling against the hour change and schedule change. I am so not a morning person! The new job is a mind challenge for sure. TOM finally decided to show his face (2 weeks late!) which is good and bad: good because it means I'm ok, bad because...well, it's TOM! My WI for this week is out the window for sure. :dz:

just got back from a good walk. it's in the 70s here in central TX - so perfect weather to be out walking. I put my DS in the stroller and pushed him up the school to get my DD from school, then we walked to the community center so i could use the 2 machines that were on my workouts list for today (arm extension and chest press) which only took 2 minutes. lol and let the kids play at the playground when i was finished. then headed home.
was a definite workout considering i was walking up and down hills pushing my son in a stroller (probably about 50 lbs together)....total walking time was 45 minutes in 2 miles (my daughter jogged to keep up with me - but had to stop for traffic a few times, plus the stroller doesnt hop the curbs well). so i'm pleased about getting some miles in today :) and my arm workouts. still need to do my recovery workouts, and might do some wii pit plus before dinner. will be nice to get outta my shoes to relax :) lol

I taught 8 yoga classes between Mon-Wed this week. They all went really well. I'm trying really hard not to get sick right now. South Korea's government has raised their H1N1 alert to red, the highest level they have. I was supposed to teach kindergarden yoga today and tomorrow but the schools backed out. So now I have only 4 classes to teach over the next 2 days. They are all music classes. I've made plans to go to the gym tonight again to work out, and I have a 2 hour session with a personal trainer on Saturday morning for my last chance workout.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Mercy03: Thanks.

Monte (Antonia): You don't have a TV, WHAT???!!! Wow I couldn't survive I am just making it now... LOL

KimL: I am having TV withdrawals big time, I never realized how much TV I much watch, but it's all good.

JasinLea: But next week your weigh will be great Just think about that!

Cape Breton Chick: Did they check for a bacterial infection because that sounds like food poisoning (e coli). I will pray God heals you and that you feel better soon.

Ms Perception: How does it feel to be a SIZE 8? I hope you are shouting that from the roof tops, congrats!

ArmyWife02: You are a workout machine!

MrsVegan00:Do you have any vegan recipes you can share with us. I have stopped eat beef and pork. I can't eat unfermented soy because of the estrogen thing but if I could love me some morning star patties.

Mommyofsix:What are the ages and sexes of your kids. I have been meaning to ask for a while. My hat is off to you for having six kids!

RangerChic:I hope you’re feeling better soon. The flu this years seems to be very strong even without the H1N1 strain!

Dcapulet: Yes, how do you think you did on your midterms?

Shan84:H1N1 wow, are they freaking out over there? I hear China is super worried.

oh i forgot to mention, i did a few mini workouts last night while watching BL (normally i sit on the couch with a snack - lately its been grapes or apples instead of junk., yeah me) :) but last night, after my dinner - and snack (had grapes) i did a couple workouts on the ball (arm curls and crunches with 5# dumbbells and 30 jumping jacks). gonna do a few different lil workouts like that tonight while watching tv. i have tons of Dr Phil and Oprah to watch off the dvr. lol

Mommyofsix - try the Italian recipe for cheesecake. I heard it has ricotta cheese, which is low cal compared to the sour cream? used. I love cheesecake. I wish Costco had a calendar of their cheesecake sample days. I would be there front and center on those days. :D

IGetFit - yeah I'm hoping it's just water weight. It's fluctuating between 155 and 156. I did see 154.8 after my walk but that's just sweat loss. Blah. I'm taking it slow and steady and seeing where that gets me.

Angela - congrats on being runner-up!! Hope you feel better, hun.

I'm also really worried about the upcoming holidays. I'm going home for T-giving and New Year's, both of which are food fests at my house. My biggest concern is my surprising sweet tooth. I never had a sweet tooth and now I do. It's probably from my husband, the (skinny) bum. :p He has a major sweet tooth and he asks me to make cakes and banana breads occasionally, which never bothered me before but now I find myself snacking on extra pieces. I haven't made anything sweet in at least a week so I'm doing well, but I really need to figure out what the heck is going on with me that I need the sugar so badly...

Exercise-wise I'm actually on a roll right now! I go without prodding or making a deal with myself because I really like what I'm doing (walking). There's no pressure and I can do it by myself in case Mr. Sunni isn't feeling like exercising. I make it a personal challenge to find ways of increasing my distance and shortening my time. :)

Good job to everyone who's losing and  to all who are trying to lose!! Let's do it together!!

Angela-Wow! Feel better soon. You're in my prayers! Take good care of yourself and get rest if you can.

I had such a nice day and in case I'm not shouting the size 8's from the rroftops, my mom is doing the trick....she was telling the people at the hair salon and then when my aunt called she told her...holy cow! I'm like, "Mom, they don't care!" She insists that people do care because they find it inspiring to hear that someone can do it without drugs, surgery, etc.

WARNING: NSV story ahead! So, I was trying on pants today at Goodwill (8's YAY!) and I tried on one pair that I liked, but they were a little tight, but still pretty cute. I was bummed, but thought about buying them for when I tone up a bit more. Anyway, I was checking them out, looking to make sure they were in good condition--no rips, stains, etc-- and I saw some stitching on the waistband label that said 6A (the Goodwill tag said 8, which is why I had grabbed them). I thought "Oh my gosh! Are these 6's?" So I looked at the inside label and they were!!!! I put them back and thought, "I can't buy 6's. That crazy!" Well, my mom said I should definitely get them since I'm so close to fitting them nicely and just to say I can wear a 6! So, it was more than a little unbelievable. I mean I literally cannot make it make sense in my mind that I might be able to wear that size. I've never been able to before (as an adult), ya know? I definitely am NOT a 6 yet, but this pair happened to almost fit nicely. So, that's my story. Now, if I could just wrap my mind around it....

Ladies, I'm having a hard week to say the least. Work is more than stressful and I'm not following my plan very well. I'm thinking of going to WW's tonight and joining back up. We'll see though. I haven't done a bit of exercise at all this week. I need to remember to start off easy and then work myself up instead of just jumping off the deep in. Well I must run for now. Back to work.

Ladybug- I hope things improve for you. Ya know, if you have the time and all, maybe WW is a good idea. It never hurts to have extra support! Take good care of yourself! You're SO worth it!!

It's another day in the life here...2 kids home from school sick with fevers, but I'm just letting them veg in front of the TV which is a special treat around here. My day has been wonderful (got in my exercise, good food choices, water and vitamin) and it should continue to be so. I get to go on a Ladies Night Out tonight :carrot: which is cool since I'm still trying to make friends over here. I'm SO glad I got invited! It's sorta challenging in a small town to make good friends when you're not from around here. Anyway, here's to good days for all!

Hi all, just wanted to check in. I don't have any time to read and be active on the boards, between working 30 hours a week and going to school full time, but just knowing im part of this team competition is keeping me accountable!

I haven't had much success in the past few months, so this is a really great challenge. congrats to everyone else who is doing well and working hard, keep it up!

Hi! Sorry I've not been very supportive, but this is our "close" week, so I've been pretty busy. Our auditors are coming the week after next, so things are a little hectic!

Angela (Cape Brenton Chick) - I hope your doctor gets everything figured out an you get on the road to recovery! Take care of yourself.

MrsVegan - I don't think I could handle a swing shift. I consider that anytime when it is dark belongs soley to me, and God help the person that tries to usurp it!

KimL - Yes, I did get in my workout 3 actually. I've been working on getting back into running (last year I was up to 3 miles), so I went out and ran intervals around my neighborhood (1.75 min run / 1.75 mins walk) for about 40(counting warmup and cool down) after dinner. Then once Dad and I dropped the kids back off at mom's we went for a 50 minute walk. Then I still had to do my ab exercises.........so I think I did pretty good! :D

JasonsLea - I hear you on the morning person thing. I would rather not be acquainted with 6am.

Mandey - 70 would be nice. It has been about 55-60 here for the past week. Plus it has rained about 27.5 of the last 30 days. The cotton and soy bean farmers are in a panic!

Shan - Wow! 2 hours with a personal trainer? You are going to have a great workout!

IGetFitNStrongforme - It isn't as bad as it seems. My family got rid of our tv when I was 7, so I'm pretty use to it by now. You wouldn't believe how many books I've read...........now I have a TV with VCR/DVD, and a hookup to the internet, but no cable or dish or whatever they are called now. So I still watch stuff.

SunniGummi - Maybe you can chew on gum, or eat lots of sugar free breath mints to keep you from snacking too much. And remember to drink lots of water! Maybe wear something really fitted. ;) The less room you have for food the better! :D

MsPerception - Congrats on the awesome NSV! :carrot:

Ladybug - Yep, slow and stead will always beat crash and burn!

nbrown - Keep up the good work! You might not have seen as much progress as you would like, but I'm sure you are better off than you were a couple months ago. Slow and steady!!

Monte: I wasn't allowed to watch much TV growing up but I can't imagine not having it at all. I read a few books a months but I need my fix of ANTM! Dang it, I throw donuts at the tv when I see those skinny girls complain about their bodies! LOL

I had the worst food day yesterday I eat everything and anything that wasn't nailed down! But today I am back on the wagon with my bloated belly! LOL Tip for the day - never mix french fries with gravey and then eat 3 jelly donuts you will become sick!

Ms Preception: Size 6!!! Do I need to throw donuts at you, because I better not hear you complain at all!!!! Size 6!!!!!

Hello friends,

Well I am down with the flu and can't do anything. Even being on the computer tires me out after about 20-30 min. So no work, no excerising. My burn has been about 1775 each day.....

However, I'm losing with no problem at all. My wiegh in is Saturday and I will probably post a lb loss. This is really good for me because I'm so close to goal.

I find it really interesting that the weeks where I am really active and have a 750-1000 deficit per day I might lose NOTHING, but when I'm stuck on my butt.....I lose. My body just doesn't make any sense to me....

well I didn't get to walk up to the school to get my daughter, after my son's tumbling class we went to the commissary for a few things and by the time we got home he was asleep - so i dropped off the food and we drove to school. and checked the mail on the way....we finally got our package from hubby!! so i have my HRM back :) so i'm ready for a great workout ;) and the kids' books and the SD card. I bought the kids a book each and mailed it to him (they think daddy bought the books at the px in iraq - but there's no kid books there, but they love the thought, so we're letting them think that). He made 2 videos of him reading the books - Alex got his own book and video, and Abigail got her own book and video. So they took turns sitting in my lap while we watched each video of daddy reading the story to each of them. they're so excited ;) and it was nice to see/hear his voice again ;) since we rarely talk on the phone. and he was smiling and happy and laughing ;) so it was more like the Brian we know and love. ;) the other video he did at the airport after R&R was hard on him, it was his first tiem reading books on video to the kids - and he'd just left after spending 2 weeks at home with them - so he choked up a bit while reading (which was hard to watch, since he never shows that emotion to us, but also make him more human in my eyes - the kids didnt notice cuz they were reading their books - but to me to see him show an emotion made me feel like me and the kids are not the only ones who has trouble with him leaving).
so it's been a good day so far, except i need to get my workouts done - now with my HRM i feel empowered to get out there and get a lot done :) and we got to 'see' hubby, so i'm thrilled :) hehehe

sorry didnt mean to get long winded, i was just excited to get our package and see and hear hubby's voice again, haven't heard his voice since R&R in August. :D

everyone please pray for the families here at Fort Hood. there's been a mass shooting on post with several dead and dozens wounded. it's on CNN - i'm watching for updates, they have one shooter, and are looking for the other(s). We have the sirens going off every few minutes - and have been told to take shelter, lock all windows and doors, and shut off our ventilation systems. So me and my kids are safe and in our locked house praying for the families affected by this horrible event. I live on post and it happened about 3 miles from my house, about the time I got home from getting my daughter from school.
I am so thankful for running late today and having to drive to get her from school and wanting to come home for the kids to watch their daddy reading videos, otherwise we would have been on foot walking over a mile from our home to go to the gym. i am worried and all i wanna do is talk to my hubby so he knows we're safe and ok...I'm not sure how long it will take for the news to reach the guys overseas, but I'm sure I will be getting an IM or phone call once he hears what's happened.
I might not get a chance to do a workout tonight, unless the shooters all get caught and things settle down.....but i will just double up on workouts on another day. today i need to focus on making sure i have all the updated info to keep my family safe.

again, please pray for all the families affected...they're saying at least 12 dead and 30+ wounded.

my old neighbor/friend (now stationed in KY) called to check on us already, shortly after it happened, as well as my cousin's hubby (who is a Major in the army stationed in DC) called to check on us to make sure we were safe. I called my mom to let her know we're safe, but she was working and not aware of what's happening. i'll update when i know more.

thanks. i am grateful that my family is ok. and hope they hold a memorial service to honor those lost today. its said 13 dead - one of which was the shooter, another a civilian police officer, the rest military soldiers. all the 30 injured are all said will be ok - either minor injuries, or are at the ER or OR at various local hospitals in the area.
it's just frightening and hitting way to close to home for our comfort. but grateful that i have so many friends and family concerned for us.
it happened in a bldg where the soldiers prep for leaving/returning from deployment, so usually civilians arent there (except a few that work in the bldg).

Again I am so sorry that this has happened. I understand the gunman was Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, and is still alive. Does the military think he is a suicde attacker or he just snapped?

A graduate of Virginia Tech, Hasan is a psychiatrist who is licensed in Virginia and was practicing at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, according to professional records. Previously, he worked at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

A federal official said Hasan is a U.S. citizen of Jordanian descent. Military documents show that Hasan was born in Virginia, and was never deployed outside the United States. Hasan was scheduled to be deployed to Iraq "and appeared to be upset about that," Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, said.

i havent watched teh press conference that was held here on post yet. but i know that a lot of the facts have shifted throughout the course of the day. first they catch the shooter, then we thought he was dead, now we hear he's not dead.....they think he just snapped - bc he didnt want to deploy. geee-you sign up to be in this army, then eventually you will deploy. my hubby doesnt want to deploy either - and he has two kids and a wife (us) - but still he's gone over three times to serve this great country. it just saddens me to think that one of our own (army soldier) could do this to his fellow men/women. I hear that all the injured are expected to make full recoveries, and many were in ORs today.....so i pray they all make it thru and have a speedy recovery.

I went online and chose my meal, so when we went I wasn't swayed by anything and didn't even look at the menu except to make sure it hadn't changed from what was posted online. I was the high maintenance orderer sort of, but I was okay with that. I got what I wanted (health-wise) and the bonus was that it was SO DELICIOUS! I'm really struggling this week with the little sweets on everyones desk at work. Please, keep your leftover Halloween candy at home or throw it away! ;) Plus the time change has put a real cramp in my activity. It's dark by the time I get to daycare to pick up DD and I don't want to walk outside at night - I'm a complete chicken! I need some new WATP videos - the one I have is a 1,2,3 mile, but I'm completely bored to pieces with it. Any recommendations? I'll be putting in double time this weekend to make up for my laziness this week. :)

tinabinab-I have 2 Leslie Sansone dvd's (both 5 mile) that I like. One is the 5-mile Fat Burning Walk and the other is 5-Mile Walk Advanced. Both are ones you can pick and choose your miles or do all 5. The Advanced one has 1 mile you can use handweights, 1 miles you can use a stretchy band, and one mile with the walk belt. The other one is equipment free, if it matters to you. Hope that helps!

Just checking in for the weekend here. Heading to the gym in an hour for my personal trainer 2 hour session. Hoping it goes well. This morning I stepped on the scale and wanted to cry. I changed my medicine (well, I started it a week late because of payday falling wrong), but anyways, I think its contributing to the huge gain I am showing right now. If I can't drop any in the next 3 days, then I might consider using my last freebie. We will have to see.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Went to the gym for my personal trainer session. He kicked my butt. I HATE him. Haha. I was crying my body hurt so bad. Not only that, but I could barely walk now. Haha. Oh well, I know it will be worth it in the end. Hope everyone has a good one.

after the week i've had, i am still just too exhausted to workout...and have a headache. DD has gymnastics in the morning, so hoping to have a chance to workout tomorrow when we get back from that. may stop at the other youth center nearby to let the kids play while i walk the track (it has a tall fence around a huge playground with recycled tire padding underneath with a track around the playground and mini hockey field)....so will try to get some mileage in there, it's supposed to be another nice warm day tomorrow.
i'm up to 153 due to TOM leaving and my overeating the wrong things. today i was under calories and according to my HRM, just in normal activities today I've burned almost 4500 calories. but dont know if that will help when i get on the scale tomorrow...been trying to keep an eye on my weight so it doesn't get too outta control. but hope to get a good night sleep tonight, since i'm tired and ready for bed (which is odd for me, i normally go to bed by midnight and its not even 10pm here)....
i got the last of the fleece fabric i needed to start on hubby's quilt today. so hope to get it started soon so i can get it mailed before they stop accepting mail (to prep for coming home!) :) less than 3 months left - we're counting down the days :D

I have 102 minutes to catch up on for this week. i do plan to do better next week. and pray no other traumas/situations arise next week to stop me or unmotivate me to workout.

wtg on your workout with your new trainer...i've never worked out with a personal trainer before...lol guess i'll get my chance once hubby gets home - since he's now a personal trainer. i'm trying to stick to the workout/calorie plans he's set up for me....but some days it's easier than others.
best of luck to you. and everyone else.

Hi Red Team,
I didn't have much of a chance to check in this past week, just don't know where the time goes to. I haven't been doing very well this challenge, I think I let things get to me too much and stopped taking care of me. It was so easy for the sugar to slip back in to my diet. I've started eating grapes again as a way to wean myself off the sugar and because I love tham but I am noticing that once I get the sugar totally out of my body for a few weeks than I don't crave the grapes as much. It sounds weird but it works.

Army Wife, I'm so glad you are ok, when I heard what was going on I was worried about you. Thankfully DS is at Leavenworth so I didn't have to worry about him, but I called him anyway.

Shan, I would love to have a personal trainer kick my butt, but that won't be in the buget for a long time.

For Our Biggest Losers, and for the Blue Team, Congrats on working so hard.

Everyone Else, Have a great Weekend
Bette K

Hi all, hope you are having a great start to the weekend! My weekend started late yesterday morning, as I took some PTO (paid time) from work and went to the zoo with my dad for the afternoon. It was a fun time.
Woke up and did my weekly weigh-in to discover that I'm down another 1.2lbs! Such a nice thing to see. I am now 99% vegan, still have the occasional dairy sneaking into some of the nutrition bars I'm finishing up, but no more drinking dairy, no cheese (less for vegan) and no eggs. This seems to have really pushed my body into a bit more weight loss which is great.

And, Thanks for the encouragement Mrs. Vegan, I'd love any tips you have. I've been listening to the Vegetarian Food for Thought podcast by Colleen of Compassionate Cooks and I adore her.

Anyway, off to get myself showered and ready, as I'm going to go to an arts & craft show for a bit before I get some writing done this afternoon. Have a good one everyone!

just finished my wii fit plus workout - it was all training and aerobics....i'm pouring sweat and am gonna get kids to bed so i can shower....glad to have my HRM back ;)
i did wii fit for 81 minutes and got 1100 calorie burn - which includes 10 minutes (each) of running, hula hoop, and boxing. I get really into the boxing - cuz it's so fun (plus the fact that i burned 254 calories in 10 minutes) :) LOVE IT!!!
I love all the new stuff in the fit plus :) this was my first chance to test the fit plus activities with my HRM. i'm thrilled. so far i've only eaten almost 1200 calories in food but havent had my snack yet tonight...but between my wii fit workout and my walk at the track this afternoon - i've burned 1361 calories. so i basically will have worked off all the calories i ate today...so hope the scale is nice again tomorrow.
i was 153.8 yesterday, and today was 152.4.....so hoping to make the scale continue to go in the right direction...

well i'm off to get the kids to bed, so i can get a shower, and then watch my DVR'ed Suze Orman show from tonight :)

oh, btw, HAPPY BDAY Antonia!!

 girls!

Been doing alot of thinking today, trying not to fall into a pocket of deep depression. TOM is basically over and if this morning was any indication, tomorrow's WI will not be pretty. :dz: It's all my fault of course. I lost complete control this week. Tomorrow is a new week, I suppose. :halffull:

Happy Birthday Antonia!

i'm down to 150.4 this morning :) which is great :) I had been up to 153.8 in this past week....but was 152.4 yesterday, so yesterday's hard work paid off :) I only showed a .4 loss compared to last week, but knowing what i had gained this past week and was able to lose it back and a little extra ;) i'm happy. i'll just keep trying to have great days on exercise and eating with my calories and I should be able to hit goal by the time hubby gets home :)
less than 3 months till my hubby gets on US soil ;) so gotta lose this weight and get back in shape :)

MoteCristo-Hope your birthday was great! Sounds like a fun gift, too. Enjoy!!

AW-Great job on the calorie burn and loss! WOW!

The scale is down a little for me too, so i was glad to see that. I'm almost there, but I already know I will continue to lose as I work on lowering my body fat once I reach goal. I gotta still help out the team! :D

I don't know what happened, but I went to step of my scale this morning for my weigh in and it's not showing a reading at all. I think it might have broken, or a wire disconnected or something. So I think I'm going to have to post the same weight as last week since I don't really know where I am for this week. I'm going to head into town tomorrow and buy a new scale I suppose. :)

Hi everyone! Trying to get back into posting regularly....things are finally slowing down at work and life is getting back to normal. Went a little crazy food-wise around my birthday (Friday, the 6th....yikes! 49!!) but am getting that back on track too. Hopefully contained the damage enough so that I won't be crying when I weigh in tomorrow! Looking at the schedules for exercise classes at the various locations of the gym we belong to.....those aqua aerobics classes are looking pretty good...

Happy birthday to Monte Cristo too! Was yours the 6th or the 7th?

Armywife - good job on the loss. Glad to know things are settling down for you. That was quite a scare!

Monte - Happy (belated) birthday!!! Awesome present! :)

Jasonslea - don't worry about the gain. I ate chinese food last night. I'm sure I'm up on the scale too. Le sigh.

Went to the beach yesterday and made it a point to walk as much as I could. Got in my workout and then some! I knew running on the sand is good for resistance training but walking wore my muscles out too! It was fun though. Hubby and I just lazed for 2-3 hours walking and lying down. I took my pedometer to record how many miles I walked and for how long. I felt like I managed to relax and get a workout in, which is good training for maintenance. We ate chinese food last night cause it was late when we got home and we were HONGRAY. I got plain white rice and chicken with black soybeans. I made sure to pick a dish that wasn't made with fried chicken (like Gen. Tso's). This morning, my tummy is sticking out from the sodium (I also tried to avoid sauce, but I guess the sodium bloat was bound to happen) so I'll have to wash it out today and tomorrow. I do feel good about my choices though. I was super hungry and could have easily gone for fried rice and some fried chicken dish, but I made a healthy choice. I WILL see 150 on the scale some day, gosh darnit!! ;)

Have a good week everyone!

Hi All! Sorry I didn't get a new exercise challenge posted yesterday. I will post it sometime this morning. The results for last week's challenge will be posted tomorrow right after the weigh-in results.

I gained a little this week, probably sodium bloat from the ham we had on Saturday. I was going to take my last freebie, but maybe I better save it for Thanksgiving..........yes I think I'll do that, so I'll be posting a bit of a gain this week........sorry!

ETA - I'm opening a new chat thread.
