GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Will post my usual morning post sometime later, (I hope!), but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM:
When you understand and appreciate the value of challenge, it can truly change your world. Simply by seeking meaningful challenges, and enthusiastically doing what it takes to work through them, you can raise your experience of life to a whole new level.
Would you like to increase your self confidence? Working through a difficult challenge can leave you positively bursting with the confidence to attempt even more, and to succeed. Is there some particular achievement you have set your sights upon? When you're ready and willing to take on the challenges, you're ready, willing and able to achieve.
Challenge is exhilarating, and it teaches valuable lessons which can be learned nowhere else. Challenge can certainly be difficult, and yet in that difficulty is a solid and genuine value which can be reached in no other way.
Those who assume that challenge is to be avoided end up missing out on some of the best things life has to offer. Seek challenge, run toward it, and what you will find is whatever you truly desire to accomplish.

HiedieHo All!!
Gee! After DEB I am firsy on the Board!!! Just thought I'd check in before bedtime.
FRUIT: Thank God you didn't hit your nose!!! Also that no one was seriously hurt. Tomorrow all the aches will come/ Take it easy. Hope all is well with hubby.
QUILT: Tep, WinnDixie. The store here is nice and clean and the help is courteous. They even called me at home to tell me something I asked about would be in on the next Thursday. We have a SavACenter, but I don't really like that. It's not really dirty but is sort of scruffy. They are not clearly as helpful or courteous. Albertson's is okay, higher prices on a lot of things and everyone complains because it has the worst layout imagineable!
JRED: I live with my son. I don't think they feel like kids because of it. Maybe because when parents visit, it's only a short tie and new roads can't be opened in that time. I also try to give them the privacy and space they deserve for taking the old lady in!

Good morning! I have been on the run since Sat...not complaining..this girl rarely ventures out of the house. :) We shot our bows Sat. night and the man that owns the bow shop truly thinks I have potential to start some 3D tournaments. That's pretty exciting. Just a reminder it's never too late to start something new.
I'm getting to where I DISLIKE scales and DIETS(WOE) ugh...I know it's temporary. Last week I gained 5 pounds in two days...unbelievable but true...I'm still toting 3 of them around with me...up down up down up down..LOL oh well.
MISSY....I"m so sorry that you were in an accident yesterday. I bet your sister feels just terrible. Praying you all check out okay.
Well, we are gonna be gone again today. So I will try to check the board this evening. I miss when I can't read what ya'll are saying. :)
Have a blessed awesome OP day.

MONDAY...
Well I ate some really bad stuff over the weekend. It is end of month and we had slim pickins' in the house. Hubby only gets paid once a month and we are strapped until August 1st. That is my excuse....
Very sad news for me today. Our dog, a Siberian Husky who is only 4 and we adopted her when she was 2 has been having some troubles. Her left eye was enlarged and we have been back and forth to the vet the past 3 weeks. A variety of antibiotics, ointments and prednisone and 270 dollars later she had an x-ray this morning. She has a brain tumour the size of a golf ball just behind her eye.
I am very sad. She is a lovely dog, very gentle and kind and terrific with my kids. She is not in pain and seems to be very happy so the vet advises that we keep her until she seems otherwise. That could mean weeks or months, we have no idea. This could have been a slow growing tumour and it just finally showed itself to us, or it could be a quick growing one. Surgery is too expensive but not only that he said it is most likely to affect her brain and not be successful with the way the tumour is. She will remain on prednisone and hopefully that will stall or at least slow down its growth.
Needless to say I am very unhappy about this, I was really hoping it was something that could be fixed. We have to tell the kids today about things so they know to be on their guard around her and extra kind. I am worried that she might have behavioural changes with this being in her brain. Vet says if she shows any aggression at all then she should be brought in and put down. I am in agreement of course and the kids safety comes first. Yet she is the most gentle of creatures....
Don't really feel like saying much else.

Good Monday morning, all you SBers. Hope you had a fabulous weekend. I have just finished my 3 mile walk and am very happy it is over. Had a wonderful breakfast of softened whole raw oats with cut up fresh fruit on top. Yum. Now sipping a cool refreshing glass of iced tea. Tastes wonderful after that walk. I have my weight lifting workout this afternoon but the rest of the day I will probably study French for my class tonight.
Spent the weekend in Vero Beach, a ritzy town on the east coast of Fla. We stayed with friends who are very wealthy and have a beautiful home. It was decorated professionally and was spacious and elegant. It was built around a pool in a courtyard. We played golf on Sunday on a very difficult course. It was so hard that I ended up just kicking my ball out of the rough or sand trap onto the fairway whenever I got in a bad place. There were lakes and streams all over that course, so I lost 2 balls in the water. I ate pretty well over all, with just a minor slip with some bread at dinner and a taste of my DH's dessert.
I'll try to keep up with the board this week. I've been so busy that haven't had time to read all the posts from last week. Looks like Fruit was in an accident. Hope you are OK Fruit.
My butterfly garden is working!!! The butterflies are laying eggs on the larval plants we put out there and now we have tons of caterpillars that are munching happily on the milkweed and parsley. I brought in 3 swallowtail caterpillars and am raising them in a large covered bowl in my kitchen. One has already become a chrysalis and I'm eagerly watching the other 2. I want to see how they change. I know they don't spin a web around themselves. My friend who knows a lot about butterflies says they somehow just metamorphasize into the chrysalis stage. Sounds like some spiritual or character message in that imagery.
I hope I get to see the butterfly emerge from the cocoon. I'll keep y'all posted.
I'm having the friend that lives in Vero Beach over for lunch this week. She is coming to Orlando for business and is such a novice golfer that she had an ever harder time than I did on that golf course. So, I'm taking her to the par 3 that I play on occasionally. It is E-A-S-Y because it is short, no trees and no water. So, we'll play some golf and then have lunch here. I think I'll fix poached salmon with cucumber-yogurt sauce, white bean salad with olive oil, sun dried tomatoes and spinach chiffonade, and then possibly roasted vegetables marinated in balsamic vinegar. I can fix all in advance and serve it cold or at room temp. I might try to fix a tiny (1/2 recipe) Deb's cheesecake for dessert as I only have about 1/4 Cup of agave nectar left. I ordered some more a couple of weeks ago, but I still have not gotten it. I have to find something small to cook the cheesecake in and am wondering if some of those larger class custard cups might work. What do you think, Deb?
Well, I've rambled and still have to get a shower. Have a great day and happy eating everyone.

Hi all,
Trying to start off this week in a better frame of mind!
I meet with the surgeon today to go over my gallbladder surgery. Wish me luck - I'm a wreck. My mother wants to fly out from California to hold my hand when I have the operation! I don't want her to come, but how can I say no? :(
On the bright side, I FOUND MY WEDDING DRESS! I'll try to post a couple of pictures - my friend Erin came along and took photos when I was trying different ones on, but when I put on this dress, I just KNEW!
Went to Dan's family reunion on Saturday - I am appalled at how FAT I am in the photos. Motivation for me to LOSE the weight. I told him they're my "before" pics, and that next year's reunion, I can show off my "after" pics. :)
Back OP today. Fighting to stay that way!
Hugs,
Jenn

Good Monday Morning:wave:
%)*#Q, %$*(Q)%!@#!!! Okay, now that I got that out of my system for the moment....
I'm hoping to get this post actually posted on to the board today. My computer troubles just seem to be getting worse daily. Unfortunately, with all the ads in Sundays paper, not a single stinking place had a modem on sale, everything else that I don't want or need, but not a modem. Figures, it's my luck! I wish to gawd I was somewhat computer savvvy to at least know how to remedy this problem I'm having, well, at least one of the many. Anyway, I can't cry over this, just have to go with the flow and hope you all understand that my not posting much last week was beyond my control as well as driving me nuts!
Last week wasn't a good week, to put it in a nutshell. Too much going on and too much not going the way I wanted. I thank G-D that things turned around towards the end of the week (except the computer issue) and things are better in some areas. I hardly got in any walking last week which I didn't like at all. I almost had to start this week without my walk due to it raining when I got up, but finally it stopped and I was able to get in my 4.5 miles, so I do feel somewhat human once again;)
I guess I'll have to view last week as if I were on a vacation, at least when it comes to the board. It's not so much as I didn't have time to read the going's on with everyone, my pages weren't loading, I was getting things on internet explorer popping up all of a sudden (something new and it's still happening), just a slew of of problems that kept me more off the computer this past week than any other time with the exception of me being on a real vacation. I'm hoping that I can be a bit more active this week and just get through the crap a bit easier so I can get on some more posts this week.
Before I forget, just wanted to let you know that I picked-up a book at the library that I thought was worth passing the name along, it has some good info in it, though some parts are a little confusing. It's called the GOOD CARBOHYDRATE REVOLUTION by Shintani.
Scale is still up for me, which I'm not surprised, actually surprised it isn't up more as I feel like I weigh a ton. I'm at my goal weight of 129, not very happy about this and want to get back down to my cushion-something to focus on a bit more I think.
[b]Is anyone else having trouble with voting on our polls and getting a VBulletin message that says that their session is invalid? Please let me know if this is happening to you so I can tell Suzanne.
Well, just a few more days and the JAX TEAM & BOB will be arriving!!:spin: Really looking forward to their visit! TRANQUIL & SABBRINA will be arriving late Thursday around midnight and BOB will be arriving Friday evening-oh boy, I can just imagine the trouble her and ELI will be getting into and creating! He's going to cook on Friday so at least you can all be assured they won't be starving to death during their visit!
SEF, I loved your MM posting-that was so good!! THANKS!!!
COUNTRY, I just think that's so cool that you shoot! Another Gina Davis!!!;) Hey, don't sweat, I've done 6lbs overnight-it happens and sometimes, for unknown reasons-it's the times you know why that you can control, others, you can't worry about and just know that it will go back down.
GRACIOUS, oh boy, do I know the $$ stress you are going through-just mentioned it to BOB on the phone. I have 2 times a year where I wonder what I'm going to do and how I'm going to come up with bout $1.500.00 MORE than usual due to house insurance, flood insurance, car insurance and taxes all coming in one month. Sorry to hear about the dog, that's so sad. I hope it all works out for the best. I'm sure the kids are going to be very upset. First the lamb now the dog-life sure can be unfair:(GATOR, sounds like you had a nice, enjoyable weekend. ELI use to know someone who lived in VERO and had a reastaurant called PEARLS something or other, which had really wonderful food. As for the cheesecake, you can easily get away with using the 1/4 cup agave, just won't be too sweet. I thought you had a smaller springform pan, or maybe I'm mistaken. Yes, I'd say you could use the custard cups, more than likely will have to be eaten out of the cup-not sure, anyhow, just watch them and adjust your time as they will bake faster than doing it all in one pan.
JENN, the dress is stunning from what I can see-would love to see a bigger pic. I'm sure you will have to have it taken in before you know it and no matter what, you are going to be a stunning bride! Since not being too much on the board last week, when is the GB surgery going to happen. Thank goodness medicine has advanced these days. When I had mine out they had to make a huge incision down my stomach-now, two little ones are what they use. I'm sure all will go well and you'll feel much better soon:)
Well gals, I'm off to do a bit of housework and await my sister's oming over to p/u some chicken breast I got her yesterday. Will check in later today at some point. Have to p/u kids at school and take Michael to his guitar lesson later, but I'll get back on here, just not sure at what capacity:shrug:
Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Happy Monday Gang,
Hope everyone had a great weekend. My DH bought me the cutest precious moment ( I collect them) for our anniversary. It is a little girl lifting weights in a workout suit and a towel around her neck. The message was "Life is Uplifting". It wasn't a romantic message but I thought it was sweet of him to relate to what I was doing. It is soo cute. He wasn't supposed to buy me anything, our trip was goinig to be our gifts. Lucky me.
Had a good w/e eting wise. Only had 2 glasses of wine the whole weekend. Hoping to have a big loss before my vacation.
Fruit, Oh My Gosh! Just read about your accident. That was some divine intervention going on there. Glad your nose wasn'thurt. Hope hubby can hear today. Hopefully your DS foot will only be sprained. Be careful out there.
Quilter, Great name for a movie. I'm sure the script will be boring though. Me 7 DH are goin to Punta Cana (in the Dominican Republic) Leave Friday, come back Monday night. THere were 6 of us going, everyone has backed out so we are still going. OUr anniversary gift to each other. LOL. We will lay on the beach for 3 days and relax.
Sef, what a true MM post. It is what we are all about. Thanks.
Country, Nice going on your bow shooting. That is exciting.
Gracious, That is so sad about your dog. You don't think about animals getting things like tumors, cancers etc like humans. I hope she is not suffering. It is so hard when you get attached to them, just like kids sometimes. Hope yuor kids take it ok.
Gator, Sounds like you had a lovely weekend. How exciting watching the larva become butterflys. I wouldn't like the caterpillars stage. We had so many of them around our house and trees, yuk. I'll take the butterfly.
Jenn, Your dress is beautiful. You can do this. You have the best motivation in the world. Just take 1 day at a time. Plan ahead for going out, Hang in there.
Deb, loved your MM. Weekends seem to be my "challenge" but I'm working through it. Hope you get that crazy computer fixed. Your visit with Bob, Tranquil & Serene sounds like fun. Take pics.

I think that's sweet of your DH to get you the figure of the weight lifter! I guess I'm boring I rather have my husband be interested in what I'm doing then be romantic. LOL
Well now I see why I had such a hard time losing weight! We eat out at least 3 to 4 times a week!
I'm starting to get real good at drilling waitresses on the food :)
I travel with my Splenda packs and eat a lot of grilled chicken & steak salads. I am amazed that I'm able to stay on program so easily. Even the all you can eat buffet at the casino wasn't a problem. I'm really begining to think I can eat this way forever! I'm so happy I tried it.

Hi all, first night of VBS went well. Just 6 turned out for my class, but expecting more tonight.
Debelli JAX Team coming your way? & BOB too?? Hope you'll have a blast. Having puter problems is the pits, isn't it? I have had no problems voting. No error problems. Wish I could give you some answers about your current problems, but I'm afraid I can't. Have you downloaded something recently, say right before all this started? And have you recently run a thorough scan & degrag? You might also want to check for viruses/worms, but then you have probably checked all of that, huh? I was having a big problem a few weeks ago with my puter continuously shutting down Explorer with frequent erroe messages. It started after I downloaded Incredimail program. I loved the program, but it just wasn't worth all the agravation, so I uninstalled it & my problem cleared up!
SEF, I loved your MM!!! You are so right about what this board means to all of us. I sure miss all the encouragement from everyone here when I'm away, so I'm trying hard to make time to post & read what I can.
Gator Your week end at Vero Beach sounds fabulous. Wouldn't mind being back at NSB right now. This heat & humidity in LA is really bad.
Fruit Girl, I think you were better off without this year's school vacation! What luck you have had with your throat, nose, & now a wreck?? Did this happen in Lafayette??? You had mentioned coming to Lafayette sometimes soon to visit your GM if I'm not mistaken? Hope things get better for you soon!
Jenn Wedding dress looks beautiful! thanks for giving us a peack! ;)
gracious, Very sad about your dog. Hope the vet is right & it is slow growing & won't effect him seriously for a long time.
Well, got to go study my lesson for tonight. Hope all have a SF day!

HiedieHo All!!
Gee! Where does time go? I went to NH, it was a great group! Also went to WD for a couple of more bargains. I am going to us the salad shrimp and make a salad plate supper, maybe some garlic bread to go with it. The Nature's Own rolls make up nice.
COUNTRY: You could have something in common with Geena Davis. She only took up archery a couple of years ago and was soon good enough to try out for the olympic team. It is a sport where age doesn't matter, So you go girl!!! Weight seesawing can be so discouraging, sometimes it seems like it's through no fault of our own, other times we have to face up and admit we went into the no-no section of foods! It will move right soon.
GRACIOUS: On SS you only get paid once a month, I try to budget for the whole month, somehow there is always more month than money! So know what you mean! Hope your dog can last a long time. When you have a pet, they should become part of the family. I was lucky enough to own dogs that lived long lives, it is a wrench to lost them.
GATOR: Vero Beach ritzy? My grandparents lived there about 15 years, 50's to 60s. When I visited (the last was '67) it never struck me as being a money town. How neat about your butterflies! Your menu sounds delish. If you use glass cups for cheesecake you will have to adjust the cooking time. Glass is faster!
JENN: Dress is beautiful! Humor your Mom. Mom's worry. I flew to HI on emergency medical when my DD called me from the recovery room to tell me she had had emergency surgery. She later said she didn't want me to come, expense and all that, but I had to be there. Good attitude about before and after pics!
JACKK: What a sweet husband! My DH would do things like that.
Well, want to cut some aida, get it on my working frame and choose colors for the "Bless This House". Am tired.
Take care,
Shirley

Got the house straightend up this morning because I was all alone. I can get so much more accomplised that way and I have never really figured out why. Maybe no one to distract, although I distract myself quite nicely. I'll start something, and that reminds me of something else, I'll go do that and come back through the house and see the other thing I'd been doing. Do I sense a little ADD here?
Sef: Loved you MM. And you are so right about being able to set the relationship on a different plane when living together. I find that we (my family) always fall back into the roles we're accustomed to when we are together for short periods of time.
Gracious: I'm so sorry about your dog. I know from first hand experience about tumors in our pets. We just couldn't afford the surgery ourselves and just loved our baby until she became so uncomfortable and hurting that we had to put her out of her pain. You and your children will be in my prayers.
Jenn: Your dress is gorgeous! You will be a beautiful bride. I hope your visit with your doctor goes okay today.
Jack-K: Congrats on the wine. I think the Precious Moments figurine sounds so sweet. And hubby is a sweety for thinking of you. Happy Anniversary!
CM4H: WTG on the bow! Don't worry about the weight. I, too can have a jump of as much as 5 pounds in one day. It's usually mid cycle and eventually falls back down.
Heartmom: We are all hoping the Boogie is doing well. Let us know!
Deb: Hope you find that modem on sale. Have you checked the online stores? Maybe there's something on there.
Gonna go do some (Yuck) school work now. It's getting closer and closer and I don't really want to think about it.
Take care,

Gator: I love raising butterflies. We've raised Monarchs every spring. When your caterpillars are ready to form the chrysillis, they'll crawl to a twig or the top of your container. I've used screen, or net, or that plastic sheet stuff with the squares that you do needlework on. I don't know what it's called (Sef?). They'll hang upside down in a J. When they turn dark, it's getting close. With Monarchs, they'll start shimmying(?), twisting and turning, then it appears that the green is oozing out. But I think, from observing, that the outter skin begins to separate and the green in underneath. It is amazing to watch! You have to be very observant because it happens so fast. We've missed them many times because the class took a bathroom break, came back in to find the chrysillis hanging. The next amazing thing is the butterfly coming out. The chrysillis turns dark, but really it's the butterfly showing through the thin skin of the chrysillis. They break through the skin, crawl out and then start pumping the fluid from their bodies into their wings. You cannot help but wonder at the awesome power of the Creator when watching this whole experience. ENJOY!

Well, Boogie had his cath done and all is well. He didn't have any significant collaterals(good) and is pressures were within range(good). It was still scary- especially when we thought it was going to be less risk than the last heart cath. We were wrong- the doc said the risk would be the same as the first since they would have to go into the neck also along with the groin. The last time the doc was describing the procedure and said " if the blood clots, then he'll die". Then this time, he says it's the same risk. UGH! I was a total basketcase. I was crying and hubby looks at me and says "u need to get it together". I told him that I would never be able to get it together when it comes to my son and that if he didn't want to see me upset and crying, then he should leave the room. Anyway, he's doing well except for a cold. We still don't have a surgery date. I'll need a bottle of nerve pills to take with me,lol.

Hi Gang,
Just seeing what everyone is up to.
I have a ? for all you Florida girls. Can you get Nature's Own ww buns and rolls, in Florida??? If so what stores carry them. My DD is going to Destin next week and I was going to have her look for them. Thank for your help.
Cherylco, I think this WOE is easy to follow eating out. Just don't overdo on portion sizes. Ask for a doggie bag up front. take home half for the next day's lunch. I also ate "legal" at the casino buffet.
Melf, Have fun at VBS tonight. Hope your crowd improves.
Sef, Send me some of those Nature's Own rolls, buns, etc. We can't get them here. Get some rest.
Jred, I don't think it's ADD, just to much to do or too much clutter. At least in my house. I had the same problem this morning. Trying to pick up and went from one thing to the next. Finally realized I had better get ready for work. That's a job that is never done.
Heartmom, Sounds like you got good news about Boogie. It is so hard when something is wrong with our children, even if it is something simple. I cannot imagine what you go through. Still sending prayers and {{HUGS}} for you both. How long will he stay in the hospital? Don't be too hard on your DH, men just don't understand. I'm sure he is worried too.
Have a great night. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Hi everyone,
I had a nice weekend. We went to the red lobster crabfest. Yummy!! I got the endless bucket of crab. Passed on the rolls. Stayed 100% OP!!!
I have been exercising more lately and it really seems to help!! This morning I was 161.8, last week I was 164. I have been cutting my starchy carbs down, not intentionally, just seems to be happening.
Gracious
Sorry to hear about your dog. Hope all goes well.

Your butterfly garden sounds wonderful. Are you taking pictures?? I have butterfly bushes….I did not know there were larval plants.

Hope you get the puter fixed soon!! Have you been able to look online for a modem?? That’s usually were you will find the best deals.
I get an invalid message when I try to vote in the poll.

Hi again,
Had the meeting with the Dr. My surgery is scheduled for August 27th. That way I don’t have to go back to work until after Labor Day. I actually would return on my birthday. Wonder if I can eat a slice of cake that day? :D
My first dress fitting is August 26, the day before the surgery. So I’ll have a month to eat lightly with as little fat as possible (to avoid irritating my gall bladder). I should start a “new diet” fad – the Surgery Diet or something. Just Kidding!
Thank you all for the wonderful comments on the dress. Even my mom liked it, and I was worried about pleasing her picky taste.
Gracious, sorry to hear about your dog. :( Enjoy your time with her as best you can.
Gator, that butterfly garden sounds wonderful! I’d love to do something like that if I can ever get a garden going.
Cherylco, we’re doing a headpiece/wreath of silk flowers in autumn colors, to match my bouquet. Nothing too fancy.
Heartmom, glad to hear Boogie’s cath went well. He was in our thoughts and prayers.
Chrisb, that bucket o’ crab sounds yummmmmy. :)
Take care, everyone!

Hello there!
It has been a hectic few days and I haven't had a chance to make a decent post. Tranquil is also having a busy day at the office and asked me to post something for her. Her exact words were: "can you add this to a post for me for Motivational Monday. I thought it was befitting and maybe motivating to someone - SOMEONE I KNOW". I kind of get the idea she was referring to me for some reason! Anyway, here it is and I will catch up later with everyone!
1."There's no question: it can be difficult to drag yourself to the gym when you're feeling beat from head to toe. But if you shirk your workout, you'll never know whether the exercise would have energized you. A better strategy: Stick with the 10-minute rule. Force yourself to go out and exercise for at least 10 minutes. If at that point you still feel exhausted, give yourself permission to stop. But in all likelihood, exercise will help you feel better and you'll choose to keep going." by Sarah Ferguson and Weight Watchers
2. "Skipping meals and cutting calories will not improve your body; it will hinder your fat burning. This is especially true for women, who are natural fat storers. The less often you eat, the more likely your body is to hoard fat." by A. Scott Connelly, M.D. and Carol Colman
3. "Your exercise clothing should be something you enjoy putting on. It will cheer you up, give you positive affirmation to take better care of yourself, and put you in the right frame of mind for your workouts....You may be self-conscious at first about revealing your body and choose big T-shirts and other cover-ups. But if you're heavy, it's important to have the kind of clothing that protects skin from rubbing against skin.It may be better to wear clothing that is somewhat form-fitting so that the body folds are covered and protected." A Unique Workout Program for the Plus-Size Woman" by Rochelle Rice
4. Physical activity: the larger picture: Less strenuous activities, when performed for longer periods of time, are just as beneficial as vigorous activities. All women should get at least 30 minutes of moderate activity a day. Brisk walking, recreational swimming, canoeing, vacuuming, and weight training are all good examples of moderate-intensity activity." by Susan E. Hankinson, R.N. et al.
5. "Exercise is an important part of any weight-loss program. That
doesn't mean you have a to spend hours a day taking aerobics classes. Just get yourself out and start moving. My motto is, 'Be fit, not fanatic.'" by Suzanne Somers
6. "Portions of food in restaurants are often much too large. Don't
always finish everything you are served. Consider splitting dishes with fellow diners, taking the excess home, or just leaving it on the plate." by Andrew Weil, M.D.
7. "Many women work at jobs that require hours of sitting. The more you sit, the more you need to move around. Physical movement pumps oxygen throughout the bloodstream so it can nourish the joints and surrounding soft tissues. Give yourself a much-needed break and stand up, stretch and move around at least every hour throughout the day. You'll feel better -- and your body will function better, too." Peggy W. Brill, P.T.
8. "Use pepper and spices instead [of salt] to give your food that added flavor. Spicy food slows you down: You simply can't wolf down highly seasoned food the way you can wolf down bland dishes. And, by slowing down your pace, you tend to eat less."
by Jane Clemen, R.D. et al.
9. "Choose stairs over elevators. If there are many flights of stairs
where you work, climb one flight of stairs for three weeks; increase the number of flights by one every three weeks. Or walk up and down the stairs in your home three to five extra times each day." The Real Woman's Guide to Body Shaping & Weight Loss" by the Editors of Prevention Health Books for Women
10. "A basic guideline is to exercise at a level that allows you to talk and sweat at the same time. If you can't talk, you're exercising too hard and should slow down, even if you're within your target heart rate (THR). If you are within your THR and can sing or whistle while exercising, you are not working hard enough, so you should increase your exertion to the higher end of the THR scale." How Eating Like Our Stone Age Ancestors Will Maximize Your Health" by Elizabeth Somer, M.A., R.D.

Hello Everyone! Happy Monday evening. Looks like we made it through this lovely day.
I just wanted to let you all know that I wrote a fairly long post yesterday afternoon and had messages to many of you. Just didn’t want you all to miss it if you were interested.
Well, today went pretty well. I went to a new place to get my hair cut. Fabulous. They started me off with a head and upper back massage. Wow!! That part was even free!!! Then I got my cut and eyebrows waxed. I’m looking marvelous. LOL!!! It was an ecosalon and spa. I think I’m going to be taking advantage of some of their other services. I love a good massage.
SEF---You sure were up earlly this morning. I really enjoyed your motivational thoughts. You really put it so nicely how important we all are to each other. Thanks!
CM4H---Sorry to hear about that old 5 pounds making a pest of itself! That’s so hard to deal with. At least you’ve kicked two of it to the curb. Keep it up. Remember, we are women and sometimes our bodies just try to do things on their own and it makes no sense to us. I’m sure you’ll be back down really soon. Are you drinking all your water??? Congrats about the bow shooting. That is awesome! Did you know that the actress Gina Davis is really into that? She tried out for the olympics. Perhaps we will see you in those tryouts soon.
GRACIOUS---I am so very sorry to hear that your dog is sick. That is so sad. It’s so good though that she evidently feels good right now. I hope it stays that way for a long, long time. My hubby and I are very much dog people. We love our little girl very much. I am praying for a miracle for you all. Dogs are so easy to love and so hard to replace or imagine life without them. {{{{HUGS}}}}}
JENN---Congrats on finding your wedding dress. It is so beautiful! You will be a beautiful bride. I have to tell you something that I think you might want to hear. Last year I was having thyroid surgery (yes, most of you oldies know this!) and my parents wanted to come over and be there when I went into the hospital. Well, I didn’t really want to have them there because I didn’t want them to get upset and me to be worrying about them and all that. I thought I would be fine with just me and DH. Well, I was talking to one of my co-workers and she said, “Kim, of course, they want to be there. They are your parents. Let them come.” So I did. They came over and stayed for many days and they really helped out a lot. Because they were here, Paul didn’t have to miss a lot of work to stay home with me. Anyways, I don’t want to be presumptuous and assume that I know what your relationship is with your mom. But it might be that at the time of the surgery you might really want her with you. It’s your decision, but I really felt like I was in your shoes about this time last year. Just wanted to share.
JACK-K---Your hubby is such a sweety. I used to collect the precious moments figurines when I worked at the Berean store in Canton, OH. I used my discount and got quite a few of them. I still have them, but but they are all boxed away. I wish I’d have kept their original boxes. Then I could sell them for big bucks! I’m sure the ones I have are discontinued. Good job on the eating this weekend!!! Fantastic!!! Have fun on your trip! Sounds heavenly!!!
CHERYL---You go, girl!!! Ask those waitresses all your questions. It’s so wonderful that you already see how you can be in charge of what you put in your body. That’s great thay you are packing the Splenda. Keep up the great work!!! You are such an inspiration to all of us to get with it and take charge.
JRED---You cracked me up when you talked about distracting yourself when you are cleaning. Boy, can I relate to that! When I do it, I call it ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) cleaning. Because I sure can’t stay on task. Even right this minute . . . I was just about to take the vacuum upstairs to run it in the guest room and spotted my laptop and thought, Hmmm, I need to finish my post. First things first! LOL I think raising your own butterflies sounds so interesting. Every year our big conservatory holds the annual butterfly show. It’s wonderful. They bring in butterflies from all over the world. I love going. They are precious beautiful creatures.
HEARTMOM---SO GLAD TO HEAR THAT BOOGIE MADE IT THROUGH THE HEART CATH!!! Yippee, I am doing the all-time greatest happy dance for you all that it went well and that you got a good report. Moms should be allowed to cry for their kids. I can’t imagine the stress you must be under. DH just about shut our dog’s head in the car door tonight and I went spastic over that. I’d be committed by now if I had a child. Hang in there. We are all pulling for you and praying for a healing!
CHRIS---So glad to hear that you stayed on program. WTG!!!!! That’s the spirit. You will be glad you did when it’s time to weigh in on WIW. Don’t you just feel great when you eat the right stuff and make the smart decisions? It’s so empowering. Makes you want to do it over and over again. I think the mini victories keep me going even more so than the scale’s results.
SERENE---Hope your hectic weekend was a good kind of hectic. How was the yard sale? Will you and TRANQ be big time shoppers this weekend? Thanks for posting her MM. Something we all need to hear over and over again.
Well, I really need to get going. But I do have a fairly funny story. This morning I was standing by my dh when he went to weigh himself. Well, first he moves the scale. I shriek, “Don’t move the scale.” So he puts it back. Then he bends over and MOVES THE DIAL ON THE SCALE. I shriek even louder, “Have you lost your mind??? What are you doing????” Then I went into a tirade as to how my weight would be off now and now I couldn’t be sure whether my next weigh in was exact. Boy the more I thought about it the more ticked I got. I think I’m going to buy my own scale that will be off limits to everybody buy me. Can you believe he messed with the dial. Boy, was he in the dog house. So now I don’t know what to do about my weigh ins. Guess I’ll have to start all over. If it’s close to the same tomorrow, then I guess I’ll be okay.
Okay, enough griping. I’m got to vacuum.

Well I had my trip to the OB/GYN today... (warning for the TMI sensitive, skip this one..LOL)
He said my heavy flow and pain are 2 different problems and that it will take 2 different surgical procedures to correct.
Problem 1 - PAIN - possible endometriosis and he wants to do a laproscopy.
Problem 2 - HEAVY flow - a d/c and endometrial ablation which is using a laser to essentially burn off the inner layer of my uterus. 60% of women have light flow afterward, 25% have NO period, and for 15% it doesn't change anything... but when they do this AND a laproscopy together they like to do a tubal at the same time because you are NEVER supposed to get pregnant again because of the condition of the uterus.
I've been sure for quite a while that I didn't want any more children, but there's something about being informed that it's no longer a possiblilty for you that makes you wonder if you would have changed your mind. Either way... I have to do what works for ME!
I know that everything will work out ok, and just like it's supposed to. On an up side, I did weigh in at only .5# more than I did at the doc's office a couple of weeks ago, which is to be expected since it's the week before TOM comes. I'm happy with that.
Oh yeah, and that cyst he said is called a (I'm gonna spell it like it sounds, not sure if it's right) Nabothinal cyst. Nurses??? He said it is a clogged duct, like getting a zit on your face, and that I need not worry, they only get about as big as an English Pea... and go away on their own.
Well now that I've ICKED you all out...LOL... Hope everyone is having a wonderful week :) I"ll check in again when I have more time! :)
Bye

Good evening all.. Here it is Monday already and I'm so behind. Had a nice afternoon out with lunch with a friend. I had a nice salad and loved the talk.. Then over to the dollar store for cleaning supplies. My daughter in law is coming to visit with my two grandsons for a couple of weeks. My son is going to go to school to be a drill Sargent. When he finishes his school in a couple of months they'll be transfered from Colo. Springs to a base near Columbia South Carolina. Can't wait for them to get settled in there because I've never been there before. I'm working hard at having a weight loss this Wed. I need to get started back down.
Thanks Debilli for the "Challenge"!
Sef- LOve the nice saying you put on the board...
CountryMom- You sound great with the bow.... How neat for you to find a great hobby. Have you tried giving up starchy carbs for a few days.? Sometime that helps.

Hi all!!!:)
Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I have a sinus infection, so I haven't been feeling well these last 2 days. On top of all that i had a really busy weekend. Dinner out on Friday with my husband and another couple. We went to a wonderful seafood resturant called Bob Chinns we stayed out until 1 in the morning walking down Michigan Avenue we walked for 2 miles.
I must admit I managed to stay on point with my eating after having 2 outings this weekend. I brought some sugar free ice cream then I know I ate to much That's another item I have to keep out of the house.
I have been reading the post. I hope eveyone has a great evening.
Jenn _ You dress is beautiful. You will make a beautiful bride. My neice just had gallbladder sugery about 3 weeks ago and she was back on her feet in 2 weeks. I'm sure it will work out.
Gracious- I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I'll be praying for you and your children. It must be hard on them.
Jack K- Happy Anniversay I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Heartmom- I'm glad Boogie's procedure went well.
Well I'm looking forward to chat tommorrow night. I'll talk to you
all then.
Sorry I didn't get to post to everyone.
Serene and Tranquil- I hope you guys enjoy your trip.

I have missed so much on the board!!! I have been so exhausted, eye is healing nicely according to doc today, my hound went to the doc as well and she is in good health, my ds comes home tomorrow YIPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, I should have some good overtime coming to me to help pay for my trip to London in October, I am just too excited about Miami (won't be able to control the shopping fun - I am a shopaholic!) and excited about meeting Bob and Deb!!! and ELI!!! TOM is here - so sorry - not going to weigh in - I weighed in at the doctor and my ankles are very swollen and he was a bit concerned - so I am limiting fluid intake again which is difficult for me and watching salt, etc. being a good girl, but with the exercise I got in today, rode bike for 10 miles at the gym, I have been running to the loo quite often!!! So, then again, maybe wiw won't be tooo bad if kidneys start working ....
Fruit – WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO WITH THESE AUTO ACCIDENTS!!! I am so glad you are okay!!! I am sure the soreness will fade off – pamper yourself with hot showers or baths – I told Serene this too with her accident – she felt like she had been hit by a train….I am sure you are the same…. Thank GOODNESS that nose of yours did not get hurt!!! Someone was looking after you! And your nose – hahahaha!!!
Sef – I loved your mm! Your children are lucky – It is not them taking you in, but you being there with them…I think it must be a great comfort for you to be there - you obviously were a very good mom and very close to your son and did a great job!
Gracious – My heart goes out to you and your furbaby who is sick – that is sad!!! Well I hope your family is able to share more good times with her…
Gator – I think I will crash that luncheon!!! Sounds fabulous!!!!!!! I went to Vero once – I remember seeing quite a few Rolls driving by that evening while we were having dinner out….Lucky you – glad you had a wonderful time!
Country – Don’t be discouraged!!! I am up 7 pounds since the other day when I went to the doctor – but it is water weight – TOM is here, my ankles are gigantic! Same with you – it is possibly just a fluke swelling thing and it will be gone any day…..Just hang in there and be excited about your archery!!!
Jenn – That is a lovely dress and it looks like a great choice! Good luck with the operation in August.
Jack-K – That is such a sweet gift!!!!! Publix carries Natures Own….and there is one in Destin :) I love Destin!!!!
Melf – Enjoy your time at VBS!!! We will be taking lots of pics of the trip to Miami – knowing Serene, she is pretty big about taking pictures…. That is funny how you misread the eye thing – wondering why I put pink/red on my eyes! Hahaha They are nice and clear now – just a little sore and irritated, but not much….thank goodness!
Toni – I am sorry to hear your sweet potato chips burned – that is such a bummer – sometimes those things happen to me and I feel pretty bummed out – shows you how obsessed with food I am ;) That is great about going to school to be a drill sergeant – good for him! And that is wonderful about the grandkids and DIL coming for the visit!!!! I bet you are thrilled!!!
Jred – that is funny about the ADD!!! I can just picture you with all these projects and wandering about, hahaha Thanks about the hair thing – my stylist was thrilled when I told her Cut It Off!! Hahaha – today the boss who has not seen me looked at me really weird – like who is that? Then later in the day he asked me when I got it cut and then finally, stressing the finally, he said it really looks good. Yes – I am thrilled!!! Wednesday night I go back for the coloring!! I will make sure to get pics!
Heartmom – {{Hugs}} {{Hugs}} and more {{Hugs}}
ChrisB – Way to go on passing on those rolls! More willpower there than I have!!!! I just stay away from Red Lobster because I have a weakness for those garlic cheese biscuits! I used to just go there to have a bowl of soup and those biscuits!
Quilter – Aren’t you SPECIAL {said in Church Lady’s voice from SNL}!!! Well I am glad you went and pampered yourself – I have not had a waxing in a while – these eyebrows could probably use that for sure!!! I bet you look fantastic and feeling good always seems to help us with conquering our goals as well!!! {{ROFL LMAO!!!}} about that scale incident – that is sooooo real!!! I am there with you!!! I understand completely!!! Hey good for you getting through the 2 mile tape – hey, I had a tough time at first – but then the next day it got easier and easier !!!
Beth – wouldn’t it be nice if they do it and you have a really lite flow for the rest of your functioning years? Lucky you if that happens!!!!
Serene - Thank you very much for sharing the motivation article I had found.... you are such a great help! I wanted to share with everyone about the fact that when I started to feel weak and wanted to go to the Mexican restaurant and have chips and salsa - you kept us on the straight and narrow and said Sweet Tomatoes sounds more like it - and we had the best lunch - all 100% OP!!! So KUDOS for your keeping ME on the right track at that moment of TOM HOROMONE WEAKNESS!!!! hahaha
Well SBers - I have missed reading the posts, and hope to be able to keep up better this week - Take care and have a good night!!!!

Toni48--When I fix the meusli--the breakfast with the softened oats--I merely put 1/2 cup of raw old fashioned oats in a bowl and add enough water to moisten all the oats and soak into them just a bit. There should be no big puddle of water in the bottom of the bowl. Then I add a half a peach, cut up, maybe some sliced berries of various kinds, perhaps a few grapes cut in half, or whatever fruit sounds good. Mix all together and pour about 1/4 cup milk over it, and voila, a yummy SB breakfast.
OK, what does the 5 stars by some of the weekly threads mean? Debbie?
Sef--one of the butterflies has already become a chrysalis. that happened while we were gone this weekend. One of the others is attached, it looks like by his tail end with his head aimed upwards. But he is in a J shape and his head end is not touching the stick. I've been running in there every so often, but am afraid he will "turn" tonight after I go to bed. The other caterpillar is the fattest and he still is acting normal.

Hello everyone!
I'm almost halfway through my vacation and thought I'd check in for a quick hello. I've been at my Mom and Dad's in NC since Wed. night. Tomorrow I head up to Emerald Isle to spend a few days with the nieces. I've gotten some great beach time in and think I am finally relaxing for the first time in months!
Jenn--your dress is beautiful! I can't wait to see the pictures of you all dolled up in it on your Wedding day! The surgery will be a good thing in the long run--it's just getting through it! We;ll be here for you.
Gracious--so sorry to hear about your sweet puppy. They really do grab hold of your heart. Treasure the time he has left.
Melf--have fun with the VBS. We finished a little over a week ago --it was fun but very tiring!
Heartmom--I'm glad boogie's cath went well. When will the surgery be? You know we will be here for you.
Deb--I got your call from Sat when I checked my messages this morning. I'll be home late Sunday night so maybe we can chat next week.
Ok I'm tired. So far I've been OP while here, but the dicey part comes when I'm with my DB and SIL for the next couple of days. They are very supportive, but there is so much junk food around that it is very tempting to give in. I bought Montignac's Eat yourself slim book tonight and will be reading it for insiration.
I'll try to pop back in later in the week.

Good Morning Friends!
I'm happy to report that I'm starting to feel a little better. I don't know if it's the DRUGS or if I'm actually getting better! HAHA! Unfortunately my DH is still miserable. He has that horrible ringing in his ear that won't go away. Also, he isn't hearing out of the ear. We went to the doctor yesterday and he said that there may be a chance that one of the bones in his ear has fallen out of place. He had surgery back in 89 and he has plastic bones in his ear now. We go back in 2 weeks for a hearing test and another visit with the doctor. He had a lot of wax build up that will take 2 visits to remove - but that's not why he can't hear - he was hearing fine before the accident. After the wax is removed he may be able to see in his ear better. I hope that he doesn't have to go through surgery to find out if the bones are out of place - does anyone know if you can see those bones without surgery? Needless to say, my sister feels horrible. I don't want her to feel bad - it was an accident! But, she does…..
Here's my attempt to catch up!
SEF: Tomorrow is the day we meet huh? I will post tonight and let you know a time. I'll talk to my sister some time today. I'll bring my camera! I'm so excited!
COUNTRY: You go with ya bad self! You must really be getting good with the bow! That's wonderful - your husband must be loving that!!
GRACIOUS: I'm so sorry about your dog. I know that devastates you and your family. I hope your kids are able to handle the news without getting too upset. I hope that through the whole process that the dog doesn't get aggressive - especially since it was so sweet before!
GATOR: Sounds like you are having a wonderful time these days. I'm sure the butterflies are beautiful! Yes - we did get in a wreck - my sister hit us from behind. For the most part though, everyone seems to be ok. I'm just worried about my husband's ear.
JENN: Your dress looks great!! I'm glad you had fun picking it out and found one that you really like. I didn't like mine that much - if I could do my wedding day over that would have been the first thing I would have changed! I'm glad you scheduled your surgery - when is your birthday - mine is in Sept. too!
DEB: I'm so sorry about all of your computer problems! I sure hope that you get that all fixed soon cause we miss you!
JACK-K: How sweet of your hubby to buy that little precious moments statue for you! I don't "collect" anything special. But, at this house if it has LSU on it - we love it! HAHA! Yeah - definitely divine intervention in that accident. I don't know what I would have done had I had my nose broken! Then my sister would have been extra upset!! She knows how miserable I was! Just say a little prayer for hubby's ear - I'm really worried that he may not regain his hearing in there - or that he will have to live with that ringing in his ear! Then he would be totally miserable!
MELF: I agree with you about that about this summer's vacation! Mine was horrible! Yes - we were in Lafayette - on Amb. Caffrey close to Johnston street! Worst intersection in the world! I would have planned a lunch but I knew that we wouldn't have had time - so maybe on my next trip that way we can get together.
HEART: Glad everything went ok. Don't you just love how doctors are so blunt! I know that they have to make you aware of what can happen but really! Like you aren't stressed enough!! Keep us posted!
QUILTER: Wow - I need to go to your hair place! I go this morning for a haircut but I am so not looking forward to it because my neck and back still hurt especially my neck! I don't want them to wash my hair because I don't want to have to lean it back in the bowl! Haha! How funny about the scale! What made him do all of that! Is he completely insane?
BETH: WOW - that's a lot to absorb! How are you feeling about everything? Think about it because it is permanent! You do need to do what is best for you though - so keep that in mind!
MERCY: Hope you start feeling better soon! Sinus infections suck!
TRANQUIL: Glad to hear that your eye is getting better - you must have freaked!! I would have! I know you are excited that your DS is coming home! Can I come to London with you? That sounds wonderful. My dad was going to give me a trip to Europe for my Graduation present from High School - we have a group that goes every summer from here. Well, I had just started dating my hubby and I didn't want to leave him. How stupid was that? If I would have known that 5 years later we would have been married - I would have gone to EUROPE! That sucks! Now I'll never get there! I've been trying to take good care of myself - and I am feeling a little better. My sister asked how I was feeling and I told her that I felt like she rolled right over me! Haha!
FILLISE: Continue to enjoy your vacation - just check in every now and then!
NANCE, VES, GOTTA: WHERE ARE YOU!?!?!?
Well, have a good day everyone!

Happy Tuesday Gang,
We had a horrible storm pass thru last nite. Winds were 55 mph and rain for about 30 minutes. Still not enough rain for the grass though. Our power was out for about 8 hours. DH was soo afraid we would over-sleep. So what. I could use a sleep-in day. We had every person we could think of call us at 5:00 to make sure we were up. He is anal about being late. He got up 2 different times to reset the alarm after the power would come on and go off. So guess who's tired today? :( :(
Did get my walk and workout in though. :strong:
Boy the board was busy last nite.
Chris, WTG on eating OP at Red Lobster. Their rolls are awesome too. Almost a 3 lb drop. Good for you. Keep up the good work.
Jenn, You can drop 10 lbs in that month before your fitting. And NO, you cannot have a piece of birthday cake. LOL
Tranquil & Serene, Thanks for the MM tips. there is a lot of truth in them.
Bob, Thanks. I think there is a WD in Destin, not sure about Publix, but I will tell her to keep on eye out and stop for me.
Quilter, sounds like you had a nice treat for yourself. You deserve some pampering. Glad you liked yur haircut. I never keep the boxes for my PM, I would never sell them. Everyone was a gift and has special meaning. Got a kick about your DH and the scale. Bet he was scared. Hopefully you can get it back where it was before WIW. Did you get the bad storms we had last nite. I was w/o power until 3:30 this a.m.
Beth, Not good news about your surgeries. My DD just had surgery for endometrosis. That's not too bad. After I had my tubes tied, our sex life improved 100%. I think DH was always worried I would get preg again. My theory is, gert rid of the whole mess. We don't need that pesky TOM each month anyway. Good luck.
Toni, Glad you had a nice lunch and chat with your friend. I love to do that. Catch up on old times. I still have lunch with a high schoolfriend once every two weeks. It is nice to stay in touch. Keeping my fingers crossed for a big drop for you this week.
Mercy, Good for you on yur eating out. It is easy if you set your mind to it. I have troulbe with that ice cream too. 1/2 C just isn't much. I try to limit it to about 2x a week.
Tranquil, Glad your DS will be home soon. I know you have missed him. Shopping with Deb should be a blast and you can save some money too since she is such a bargain shopper. Have fun. Hope you spend the day inthe potty. LOL
Fillise, You are doing wonderful on vacation. Just keep reading that book and thinking of us and you will be able to withstand all that junk. Remember its POISON!!!.
Fruit, Glad you re feeling better. Poor hubby. Hope that ringing stops soon and he doesn't need surgery. Poor DS too. I know she has to feel bad. That's why they call them accidents tell her.
Deb, I think you missed my questions last week about honey mustard salad dressing from O'Charley's. It has 2 grams of sugar. Would it be ok for DD to eat?
It's quiet here today, One of the bosses is gone, YEAH!!!! I'll be back later.

Good Morning Everyone!!!
I am so excited - the kidneys kicked in, functioned, and with TOM I am only up 1.5 pounds since WIW - which I can deal with....does not make me feel bad - I am going to work it off! I want to be down to my lowest when I go to Miami!
Fruit - Glad to hear you are doing okay!! I would be more than happy for you to go to London with us - just find a flight - and I have two rooms already booked - I can book more rooms, hahaha - for those who want to go! I work for lawyers, but in my heart I am truly a tour guide/travel agent!

Jack-K - Uch, I hate having the power out - because it is just too hot!!! That is funny about DH and the alarm and phone calls waking you up! 5:00 a.m. - that is just too darned early - but at least you got your workout :D Yes, I am eager to find some good bargains - I wonder if we will be able to get ourselves in the car when we head home with all the stuff we end up buying
Hope you have a good day even though you are sleepy!!!

TUESDAY...
Thank you to everybody for their concern and well wishes for my doggie. Needless to say she was spoiled crazy yesterday with treats and it will no doubt keep up. Having spoken to the vet again it seems that this tumour actually is fast growing because he has seen a change in the past 2 weeks because it is showing inside her mouth at the very back. We are loving her real good though and she is loving it.
HEARTMOM- I am so glad to hear Boogie got through the catheterization without a problem. You cry away girl. The husbands feel like they have to be the strong ones and I appreciate that but the mommy's have to be able to cry their eyes out as much as they need to! Keep us posted.
I have to get to my kidlettes now, they have been pestering me as I was reading so I will pop in later. Have a good day.

Hi gang,
I'm just checking in before I go back several weeks to catch up on all the messages. I'm back from Quebec City, Canada. Instead of saying hi to you, I should have said, "Bonjour";) My daughter is studying French this summer at Laval University and my 18 year old daughter and I went to visit with her. Quebec is a beautiful city and I highly recommend it. I feel as if I've been to Europe. A lot of french words came back to me from my 4 years of it in high school.
My daughter noted that there were not a lot of overweight people there. She was right. When looking into finding a hotel in which to stay, some of them advertised a free brekfast. American style or healthy. Yikes...what does that tell us?
I came home to a computer that was broken. Our modem took a lightening hit during a storm. Although we had the electricity off to the computer, lightening hit a telephone line and it came into the computer that way. I live in a rural area. Hopefully that won't happen again.
It's good to see everyone. I'll try to respond individually when I catch up. Try to stay cool everyone!

10 Toxic Weight Prevention Tips Every Woman Needs to Know
By Pamela Peeke, M.D., M.P.H.
Make sure to eat a healthy breakfast no later than 9 a.m. even if it means placing a bowl of oatmeal on your dressing table to eat while you put on your makeup.
Eat a small midmorning snack approximately three hours after your breakfast. This could be a piece of fruit, a small fat-free yogurt, or one or two pieces of low-fat string cheese. The only exception is if three hours after your breakfast is lunchtime.
Try not to eat lunch later than 1:30 p.m. Lunch should include a healthy balance of High/Quality/Low-Stress protein, fat, and carbohydrates (see Chapter 6 for more details).
Three hours after lunch is usually the beginning of the CortiZone. At this time, it is imperative to eat food that provides you with High-Quality/Low Stress energy at a time of day when you are becoming hungry and fatigued. Combinations of protein and carbohydrates are ideal. This includes low-fat or fat-free yogurt or cottage cheese, along with a piece of fruit.
Dinner should be started anywhere from 6 to 7:30 p.m. It should include soup or salad, vegetables, and a source of protein, such as poultry, lean red meat, fish, legumes, or veggie burger. Mixed fruit could be served as a dessert item.
Try to have dinner completed by 8 p.m. My favorite saying is that if "you eat after eight, you gain a lot of weight!" Try to finish eating dinner before eight o'clock at least four to five days per week. If you must eat dinner after eight, eat lighter and eat before you go to dinner.
Women over the age of forty do not require dense complex carbohydrates (pasta, bread, potatoes, or rice) after 5 p.m. These foods are rich fuel sources and should be consumed in moderation, primarily during the day. At dinnertime these starches should be considered as occasional treats (once or twice a week, in small portions). The goal is to debulk your dinner of the dense calories from complex carbohydrates. These foods, which were once considered a staple, should now be an infrequent dinner treat.
Dispose of all fat-free desserts and snack items in your kitchen. They are riddled with Low-Quality/High Stress refined, processed sugars.
Typical restaurant portions are man-sized. At lunchtime, remember to eat only half of any restaurant portion of starch and try to eliminate it at dinner. At lunch, one piece of bread from the bread basket is appropriate. At dinner, hand the bread basket back to the waiter. Remember: the later you eat complex carbohydrates, the more weight you gain.
Water should be consumed throughout the day. Often when we think we're hungry, we're actually thirsty. Eight eight-ounce glasses should be drunk during the course of the day.
Excerpted from Fight Fat After Forty, Dr. Peeke's national bestseller.

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone:wave:
Got in my walk and boy was it hard. I did the usual 4.5 miles but my legs felt like they weighed a ton a piece. Surprisingly though, when I got back, my time was 50:26,. better than yesterday and yesterday I didn't have as tough a time as I thought I had today:shrug:
OMG, you would DIE if you tried this dish ELI made for dinner last night. Something he just decided to whip up and it was so deliciously fabulous! It had chicken breast cut into chunks, diced tomatoes, garlic, pine nuts (could do without those I think), eggplant, feta, parmesan cheese and spices-he made it on the stove and then baked it. I ate mine as-is, he had his over pasta - a definite dish to die for!
I wasn't able to get back on the computer last night as Michael had some work to do. I'm hoping he'll be able to give up the computer so I can get on for chat tonight, miss not being around and doing "real time" chatting!
TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST!!!!
Today is TUESDAY TIPS I found a great tip as I was going through some old magazines that I think would be very useful. It's from an old COOKING LIGHT MAGAZINE. Even though some doesn't/wouldn't pertain to us, the items that are most important are highlighted:
CARB-CURBING
If you're finding it tough to lose weight on a typical low-fat high-carb diet, don't cut out carbohydrates completely. First, go for high-fiber, high-nutrient complex carbs. Then make sure you have a handle on serving size.
For instance, one carbohydrate serving is 15 grams. So if you have a typical bakery bakels (about four servings of carbs) and a cup of raisin bran (three servings) for breakfast, you've already racked up seven servings. (To do the math yourself, find the Total Carbhdrate entry on a label, and divide by 15 for the number of carb servings.)
Also, be realistic about where you fall in the range of 6 to 11 servings recommended in the Food Guide Pyramid. Active people who exercse frquently have larger stoarge tanks in msucle cells for carbs than their inactive couterparts, so they can eat more carbs and are less liekly to put on weight. People who put in at least 3-4 30 minute workouts a week can usually eat 10-11 servings; less active people should restric their servings to the lower end of the spectrum.
I also read something that was interesting in another article about starchy carb servings and with sweet potato I was surprised that a serving is only 2oz!!! That sure doesn't amount to much, does it? Also, for the above, I don't know what effect fiber has on a serving of carbs as the amount of fiber cancels out those carbs-like FIBER ONE has 24 grams of carbs, 14 of fiber, so you are only getting 10 grams of carbs ultimately.
For those of you who've had trouble trying to vote on our poll, SUZANNE e-mailed me back yesterday with this information:
I've been following a thread on the vBulletin support forum, as a lot of
forum owners are reporting this problem. So far, they know it's only related to AOL (and an occasional proxy user). This morning, one of the vB developers said:
A 2.2.7 release would attempt to fix these issues. The workaround at this
time is really to use IE instead, but we are looking at the problem.
Right now, we are on version 2.2.6. As soon as 2.2.7 is released, we'll try
to upgrade the same day. In the meantime, clicking the link to try again
sometimes works. Also, have you tried to launch IE and vote from there?
If anyone wants me to put in their vote, I can do so, just e-mail me with your choice and I can put it in manually.:D
TIme to get in some replies here before this computer decides to act up even worse than it has-yesterday I was typing and it shut down on me! Never a dull moment!
JACKK, what a nice gift you got from DH!! To get you a collectible you like that has such a great meaning to you at this time was very sweet-he's earned Brownie points in my book;) I haven't seen the Natures Own buns down here and I even go to the outlet. I'd love it if they carried them down here but all I can find it the bread. Yes, I didn't see your question last week about the dressing. Technically, if it falls under the 3gram rule, it's okay to eat, just remember, whatever portion that the 2grams is for is all you should have. Great TT, thanks for sharing!
CHERYL, sounds like you go prepared when you go out to dinner-that's great. Don't just think that you can live on this WOE forever, know it, you can!
MELF, you sound so knowledgable about the computer-me, I'm computer illiterate. I'm going to try to tie Michael down and see if maybe he can figure out what's going on. I'm praying to get this fixed in one way or another really soon. This is a sure way to drive me insane!
JRED, haven't checked on-line, dread getting on the computer at this time, can't fathom trying to locate something and surfing different sites. SERENE thinks she may have an extra modem that I could use, otherwise, I'm hoping Sunday's paper will show someone with it on sale-it not, maybe I'll go to my sister's house and surf on her computer.
HEART, glad to hear all went well with BOOGIE'S procedure:D
CHRIS, that's wonderful that you are doing so well! Once you start exercising and seeing the benefits in more ways than one, you will want to increase your exercising-it's a win-win deal. About the modem, see my note to JRED above:)
JENN, you may want to wait on that fitting til after the surgery, you're bound to shed a few pounds afterwards, so you'd think. It's nice to know your DM is happy with the dress, but just remember, this is YOUR wedding and you are the only one, besides DH2B that you have to please;)
BOB, are those buns the same as the bread and SB LEGAL? Maybe you could bring a bag of each for me if they have a decent expiration date? LMK! I'm going to check the bread isle again here at Publix before you leave to come here, but honestly, I've never seen them there, or at the thrift outlet.
QUILTER, sounds like your day of pampering was marvelous-I'm so jealous!!! Loved the scale story-I could just see Pauls face!! LOL!!!
BETH, when are you going to have the proceedures to see what's going on down here? I'm sure whatever decision you make will be the right one-heck, it's your body!
TONI, sounds like we are both getting some company. When are the GK's coming for a visit?? Any big plans while they are staying with you?
GATOR, the stars an an option on the board that SUZANNE usually shuts off, really not needed. When she created our new boards she forgot to inable it, but I'm going to tell her to do so, it really doesn't mean much unless the entire site utilizes it.
FILLISE, forgot you had left town. I'm sure we'll stop playing phone tag in the near future. Have a wonderful time visiting with your parents!!!!
FRUIT, I missed it, you were in an accident I take it. Give me the low-down condensed version if you can-I hope everyone is okay-geez, see what I miss!!!!
GYMNUT, welcome back! Don't feel so bad about your modem, I'm in the exact same boat! My modem fried due to a lightning storm as well-we can commiserate together!
TRANQUIL, SERENE & BOB, just a few more days to go!!!!!!:spin:
Remember: TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!! I wish you all luck on the scale, me included!:^:
Okay, I'm outta here for now, have some things to get done before the day flys.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!

I read this sweet story this morning that I just had to share with my friends. Meanwhile, I'm working on catching up with my posts.
THE CAB RIDE
Twenty years ago, I drove a cab for a living. When I arrived at 2:30 a.m., the building was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window. Under these circumstances, many drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, then drive away.
But, I had seen too many impoverished people who depended on taxis as their only means of transportation. Unless a situation smelled of danger, I always went to the door. This passenger might be someone who needs my assistance, I reasoned to myself.
So I walked to the door and knocked. "Just a minute", answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 80's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940s movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase.
The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.
"Would you carry my bag out to the car?" she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman. She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness. "It's nothing", I told her. "I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated". "Oh, you're such a good boy", she said.
When we got in the cab, she gave me an address, then asked "Could you drive through downtown?" "It's not the shortest way," I answered quickly. "Oh, I don't mind," she said. "I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice".
I looked in the rearview mirror. Her eyes were glistening."I don't have any family left," she continued. "The doctor says I don't have very long." I quietly reached over and shut off the meter. "What route would you like me to take?" I asked.
For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds.
She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.
As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, "I'm tired. Let's go now."
We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her.
I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair. "How much do I owe you?" she asked, reaching into her purse. "Nothing," I said. "You have to make a living," she answered. "There are other passengers," I responded.
Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly. "You gave an old woman a little moment of joy," she said. "Thank you." I squeezed her hand, then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut.
It was the sound of the closing of a life. I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly, lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?
On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life. We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.
PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT 'YOU DID, OR WHAT YOU SAID,
~BUT ~
THEY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL.
God Bless!!!

gymnut-Glad to hear you had a wonderful visit in our Quebec city. It truly is a beautiful city filled with history.
You mentioned that the people were mostly at a healthy weight. The fattest people in Canada live in New Brunswick according to a recent study. I was not surprised to find this out because when I moved here two years ago it was so obvious with just a quick visit to the local mall. The people are not just overweight, they are clinically obese and it is very sad. I especially get grieved when I see an overweight mother with small toddlers that are overweight. She knows what it is like to suffer and struggle and yet she has allowed her young children to take the same route. Seems to me, if you can't control what goes into your own mouth, you can still control what goes into your small children's mouths. That is my 2 cents at least.

Hey everyone,
Off to a better start today, what with the surgery consult over, and now just waiting. I guess I’m resigned to it. Better to have it over with!
My mom’s pretty set on flying out to hold my hand, and she’ll be staying through my birthday (Sept 3). So I’ll be taking sick leave for a week from work, which should be OK with my boss.
DH2B (I love that, Deb! Thanks!) and I are working on the invitations this week, finalizing the guest list, then taking them to Kinkos to have them printed. We’re supposed to mail them August 5, according to “etiquette”.
Sunday I’m going to my friend Erin’s place to start getting the bouquets and such together. We’re also making oil lamps with fall items inside for table centerpieces at the cake/cookies/punch reception. :)
We’re still looking for an inexpensive photographer – that’s almost a contradiction in terms! I think we’re going with an assistant, as they’re cheaper and looking to build a portfolio.
Any suggestions on places (national chains?) to look for *ahem* underthings? I need a flesh colored corset-type thingy that comes down over my hips to about mid-thigh. I told DH2B that since he couldn’t see the dress, he could at least come shopping for what goes underneath. :D
Quilter – I know that in the end I’ll probably be very thankful for my mom’s presence. After all, Dan can’t be with me 24/7 because he has his son that week, and until the wedding, we live in separate residences. It’s just that she’s never been the type to rush to my side, and she really surprised me on this! Thank you for sharing your experience.
Beth – EEK! Good luck with all of that. It must be difficult to make a decision like that, even if you think you’re sure.
Toni – with a son as a drill sergeant, you can always have him call up and tell you to “put that down right now!” or something along those lines. ;)
Mercy – hope the sinus infection clears soon. They can be a bear!
Tranquil – Miami and London? Wow! You will have a total blast. I’ve never been to FL, but did spend a few lovely days in London several years ago.
Gator – the cereal and fruit sounds good. Hope you don’t mind if I “steal” the recipe. :)
Fillise – you can have fun and still stay OP – we know you can do it! Glad to hear you’ve been able to relax. Enjoy the beach for me too!
Fruit – Whether it’s the drugs or healing, happy to hear you’re doing better. My birthday’s Sept. 3. When’s yours?
Jack-K – OK, I’ll settle for some crustless cheesecake for the birthday. How’s that? Congrats on getting the workout in. We’ve been having a lot of rain up here this year, too. Everything’s green, but the mosquitoes are breeding like crazy.
Gymnut – Bonjour! And welcome back. :)
Debelli – Unfortunately, I can’t wait to do the fitting – after the surgery I’m only a month out from the wedding, and will be sore for a couple of weeks. I’m hoping my stitches are healed, with the medieval torture device (a.k.a. corset) I’ll have to wear under the gown. I don’t mind if the dress is a little loose in the waist and hips, but it does desperately need to be hemmed – they don’t make those things for people that are 5’2”.
Serene – thank you for the cab ride story. It really made me stop and think.
I hope I’ve caught up for now. Thanks for the support, everyone. You all are the best!
Hugs,
Jenn

Hello!
Sure have missed reading up on everyone. The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone were HEAVEN! Grizzlies, moose, bison, eagles...we saw them all! What an incredible trip! Does anyone on the board live in that area? Told my family...sell everything...we are moving west!! Now we are back to the wonderful heat and humidity of the gulf coast!
Jenn...your pictures of your dress...BEAUTIFUL! You must be getting very excited!
I am meeting Trish (Trishaloo) later this week while she is in the area on vacation. Looking forward to meeting her and her family. I'll be sure to take pictures with the digital camera and post them!
Sounds like all of you are hanging in there. Send the wagon over for me...between vacation and now our relatives from Va. Beach are here....so much for SB! After this week-end....I've got to get serious again....I have been doing so well on this plan. I miss my water drinking....I felt so much better!
Have a good day everyone!!

Hi all! I am a newbie here. I am a hypoglycemic vegetarian (actually pescatarian) WWer whose symptoms just resurfaced and I really need to curb my sugar for sure and lessen my dependence on carbs in general. Any tips for me? So far I've lost about 40 lbs. with Weight Watchers and want to keep losing while I get my hypo back under control.

HiedieHo All!!
I am so depressed!!! Did any of you watch the Today show this morning? It was from Asbury Park, NJ and celebrating Bruce Springsteen's new album. He was born in Freehold, NJ about 20 miles from Asbury Park, but got his start there at the Stone Pony. At any rate, I was born and raised in NJ and lived only about 7 miles from Asbury. That was when things were still good there. My girl friend and I would save the money we earned from baby-sitting at Fort Earle for .25 and hour and then spend it all in day in Asbury. There were a lot of stores, movie theaters and a busy boardwalk! There was the Palace with the fun house, arcade, merry-go-round and ferris wheel. The casino with their carousel. There was Michael's, Criterion. Mr. Planter's. Kuhn's soft ice cream, rides. Benches and pedal carts.
If you watched the show, you saw Danny DeVito who is from Asbury and still has a home there, his mother had a beauty parlor and he used to wash hair and then became a hairdresser. He talked about all the great things there were to do and see. How it was so busy in the summer and so calm and different in the winter. Jack Nicholson grew up nearby.
The different people talked of surrounding areas. The E Street B and was named for E Street in Belmar, a neighboring town that one of players lived in. My grandparents had two houses on G Street. The convention hall where they are appearing I've been in many times. We used to have a display for our business at the Business Convention every year. Plus we attended all sorts of events there.
So all those things were familiar to me. I even got up in time to see the show from the very beginning. Nowadays Asbury is a slum, some of the pictures they showed were of a town that's been through a war. It was all very sad, to see things that you remember as being beautiful and happy is now gone. Asbury used to be the jewel of the Jersey coast. My brother and I took a ride around the area about 20 years ago and thought it was terrible then, now it is much worse. I think the final blow to the area were all the riots that happened there and other places in the US during the 70s.
The good thing is they say they have a huge mega billion renovation/restoration planned. Although they have said that in the past. I hope the are able to do it. They won't be able to bring back the old carousels and ferris wheel, but they can bring back the city.
WOW! Sorry! Another trip down memory lane! This is so long and boring think I will do the posts later.
Please excuse an old lady's wanderings!

Sef - I remember those trips to the Shore and how much I loved when we would stop in Asbury - the fun house!!! All the rides and games on the boardwalks - we would stay at a house in Lavalette when I was lots younger... but yes, it is very run down these days - I am sure it will clean up again - seems to run in cycles.... but sadly Palisades Park (Bergen County) will never be back because the Horizon House apartment/condos sits on top of the site - as well as a few other huge complex's.... I am with you on the memory lane.... I grew up in NJ and NY as well....

Tranquil, Glad you are potty bound today. I hae every confidence you will be at your lowest when you see Deb. Keep it up. I'll call you next time I need a trip. This one just about did me in trying to get it booked.
Gymnut56, sounds like you had a wonderul trip. What an exciting experience for your DD. Got a good laugh about the breakfast. That should tell us something.
Deb, Have you checked Ebay for a modem? I bought some computer part on there once. Interesting info on the carbs. Thanks. Yu are so lucky to have such a creative and wonderful cook in the house.
Serene, Sweet story. Someone sent it to me last week.
Jenn, Now you will get 2 benefits, your mom will be here for your surgery and here to celebrate your birthday. No, you still don't get any cake. The cheesecake is a good idea. LOL I'm sure Dan is going to love shopping for the "pretty things" with you. When my DD went dress shopping I was surprised to see how many fiances were there with the brides. I guess they are not superstitious.
Gumbo, sounds like you had a wonderfull trip out west. Never been there myself. Need to go sometime. We'll send Bob in the wagon for you. Just listen for "Rocky Top" and jump on.
Mpinkham, Welcome to SB. This is a great place for support, a great WOE, and a bunch of wonderful people. WTG on losing the 40 pounds with WW. IMHO I think SB is easier than WW, no counting past 3. Good luck. Looking forward to getting to know you.
Sef, I saw a little bit about that this morning. Had no idea of the history and the conditin of the area now. Just hold onto your memories of the good times.
Hope I get to make it to chat tonite. DH and DD won't be home until 8:00 so I hope I can get dinner and my laundry started to make it. Save me a place.
See ya later.

HiedieHo All!!
JRED: You're right about being able to distract yourself when doing a chore. I find the more I dislike a chore the easier it to distract me! The stuff you're referring to is plastic canvas.
HEART: Glad all is well with Boogie's surgery. What a strain you and your husband are under. That is probably his way of trying to help you maintain control. Men don't express their fears the way we do. Prayers are always sent your way.
BETH: No ick, just facts. Get done what has to be done and think about how much better you'll feel afterwards. You don't need all your parts anyway!
MERCY: Sounds like your walk with friends down Michigan Ave was a nice evening. What made it nicer was staying OP!
TRANQUIL: I do have a DD too, but don't see her except once a year as she is presently in MD. So most of my talk is about DS and family. I am really excited that I will be going east in September and will get to spend some time with DD. Didn't want you to think I had only one child, or that I prefer one over the other. DD doesn't own a home and moves more frequently than son does. But I will admit I am closer to son than DD. I remember Lavalette too! We were in the wrought iron business. Our railings, winding staircases and custom made furniture took us up and down the Jersey coast. All good memories. Before I moved here I lived in Whiting, next to Lakewood and Toms River, only a stones throw from Seaside Heights. There is no better place to get salt water taffy. I may just indulge when I visit in Jersey on my trip. Haven't had it since I left. Some sins have to be forgiven and I will do penance afterwards! Also remember the Palisades.
GATOR: You better watch that chrysalis, according to JRED you could blink and miss it all. I learn so much from this board, I thought her dessertaion on butterflies was so interesting.
FRUIT: WE WILL HAVE FUN! Prayers that all is okay with hubby's ear.
SERENE: It made me cry! How sweet.
JENN: Lane Bryant's has something you describe. I think Roaman's does too. You could go on line and see. There orders are very prompt and good quality clothes. Reasonable prices for thw most part.
MPINK: Welcome!
JACKK: That's always the best we can do, remember the good times.
Well, I have accomplished zilch today. My DIL and I have been in a chittychatty mode. That's okay I needed the break. The rain today is not good for me.
Take care all!

Butterfly Update!
One of the caterpillars is turning into a chrysalis. He has been sitting in this weird position, where he is sitting upright balanced on his tail with his head curved over like a "J". Now he has shed his skin and is a light green smooth chrysalis looking thing. He is still in somewhat the same position, but is leaning farther out on the stick. He appears to have the top part of his body attached to the stick by two thin web-like fibers. I watched his skin fall off of him. He will have to turn to a brownish color now to become a full-fledged chrysalis. The other caterpillar is in the same weird position, but still looks like a caterpillar. More later.
BTW, JRed, I think that must have been the skin you saw, as you mentioned. This is a swallowtail butterfly. Maybe the Monarchs have a little different "look" to their metamorphosis. I have lots of Monarch caterpillars in my garden so maybe I'll get to see that.

SEF: Let's plan on 11:30 tomorrow for lunch. I'm planning on leaving the house by 7:15 or so to get to her house for 8. Then we are going to do some shopping before lunch. So, just check the board to make sure that everything is still a go - I will post again in the morning just to be sure everything is still in place for lunch. Just check out the photo board for a reminder of what I look like - I'll be looking for you!!!

Sure is busy on the boards these days....OK, I've only done a random skim and probably missed some very important event in your lives, so I'm not being heartless....
Jenn - Your dress is lovely! I had a very improptu elopement, and while neither dh or I regret missing the endless hassles, I sure do regret never having had a wedding dress! Maybe for my 25th anniversary we'll have a wedding! LOL. You really look beautiful. And you certainly have a lot on your plate these days.
Beth - I've had the lap for endometriosis, not a big deal. Tho probably not the most fun day I ever had. I was doing my powerwalks 3 days later. Only thing they didn't tell me about was that I would be bruised. It didn't hurt at all, but I started to worry when big blue and green bruises showed up on my stomach. It is kind of a weird feeling to be told no more lids, even if you know you don't want anymore.
Fruit - Gosh you've had a lovely summer! I hope your bruises are healing and dh's ear is OK.
Gator - Our 20 or so butterfly bushes are attracting all sorts of critters. I think I told you before I'm butterfly and moth phobic, so I haven't been out on the deck for the last week. Everytime we open the door at night, some huge creature flies in and dd and I go screaming out of the room while dh and dd's boyfriend laugh and try to catch it and throw it back outside.
Gracious - So sorry to hear bout your pooch. Made me cry just thinking how I'd feel if it were mine. Funny, you get them "for the kids" but they really are your babies too. Hope its a painless ending. My brother's golden had a large brain tumor and just became lethargic and stopped eating one day. No behavior changes or agression.
Heartmom- Glad everything went well with Boogie.
Not much new here- I go to work, then hit the gym almost everyday. I'm getting REALLY strong :strong: but not losing any more fat-- time to do something different, just haven't figured out what. I bought a book called "BODY RX" but it hasn't arrived yet. Another heavy lifting and nutrition plan, will have to see how it differs from what I'm doing now. I blew it bid time last week- felt so smug about 1 year sugar free that I celebrated with cake and ice cream bought for my son's "home from camp" dinner. Had a pounding headache and was draggy all the next day. Not worth it! He had a great time at camp in Italy- is in love with a girl from Norway (they are both not quite 12, mind you!), told me he kissed her good-bye. Couldn't believe he told me! So basically we sent him to a very expensive sex ed class, I think! :o Actually, it was a very good experience and he had a blast meeting other kids from all over the world and staying with 2 Italian families on the weekends. Hmmm, how come I never did that?
gotta go,

MISSY: Where in Covington do you want to meet. I am not at all familiar with the town, was only there once about three years ago when I first moved here. Cafe Rani? Not sure where that is but know I was there. I'll have to map quest!
Do you know what street it is on? Or do you know a better place to meet?
Time is good.
I'll probably be wearing a purple skirt and a white top.

I'll be wearing black capri pants and a black/beige striped shirt. If you look at the picture of me on the board, my hair is now shorter and has blonde highlights! Ok - I hope you can find it!! I'm so sorry that I don't know any more info!! I'll call my sister at a decent hour and ask her if she can give me some more details - but I don't think she is up yet! It's 3:30 and I CAN'T SLEEP!!! WIW Morning!
Hello Everybody! Just wanted to check in and report my 1 pound loss for the week. I saw that number on Fri or Saturday and just hoped that it would stay off until today. That puts me at 190 and the needle was leaning toward the 180's, but not officially off the 190 mark. Oh, sweet victory. Hope you all have some great losses this morning when you jump on the metal beast!
Sorry I missed the chat last night. I've been getting ready for my trip this weekend. So I don't know how much time I'll have to post to each of you. Just know that you all are ALWAYS in my thoughts. I am pulling for each of us to have great weeks. I'm so excited that FRUIT and SEF will meet today. How great for you both. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you all find each other. And DEB, BOB, SERENE & TRANQ, have a wonderful, wonderful visit. You all are going to have a blast. I just hope that the dungeon master doesn't crack that whip too much. LOL (Love ya, DEB!)
Gotta go get ready for work.

SEF: Yeah - It's me again....this is what I'm gonna do. When I get to my sister's house - I'll ask her if she can give me more specific directions or atleast some landmarks. I'll get online there and post. It is still early and I don't want to wake anyone up at her house by calling. So, I'll be back in about an hour or so to post! If for some reason I don't make it back - that means there was trouble getting online there - I know she has trouble at times!! Hopefully not today!!!

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!!
Just wanted to drop in and quickly let FRUIT and SEF know that I'm excited about their meeting for lunch...too bad that MELF can't join you...HAVE A GOOD TIME!!!
I dropped Sabrina and Debbie a note last night...I won't be able to go to MIAMI this weekend. My Mom has developed a severe retinal detachment. I have to take her today to have it reattached. The surgeon said he hopes that he will be able to reattach....says she should have been there a month ago...She hasn't had any pain associated with this at all  ANYWAY...
he said she won't be able to bend over, be pulled or jerked...etc and since Skeeter stays with her when I'm gone, that won't work at all...SO I've told them that we will just have to do this another time AND WE WILL!! But I already know that they will have a wonderful time...
Hope everyone has a good WIW...I've got to get to work...got a lot to do before I can leave....

One of my bouncing pounds bounced off again! yahoo! maybe it'll stay away this time.
sef: I'm the one with the butterfly and moth phobia and the gardens were there when I bought the house. The butterfly bushes are too huge to take out, and the actual flowers are beautiful, so I look at them from INSIDE! I know this seems nuts. Also, relandscaping is to much of an expense and bother.

Happy Happy WIW.
Can you tell I am doing the happy dance today? The good ole metal monster is soo kind to me today. I am down 4 lbs. I made my mini goal for vacation. That's make a total of 82 pounds down and 30 to go. Don't know how, but I'm not complaining. I was so happy I went out shoping this morning at 7:00 before coming to work and bought me a new pair of shorts, size 12 to wear on the plane. I was so excited. I have Goodwill coming today and I had 2 huge bags of clothes to give away. No way am I keeping these things, I never want to be able to wear them again. The ones I did keep are still too big but I have to have something to wear.
Wish I could have stayed on chat longer last nite. I really enjoy getting to know more about everyone.
Sef & Fruit, have a grat lunch meeting today.
Mel, What a wonderful experience for your DS. He is a very lucky kid. I got such a kick out of him being in love at age 12. How cute. You're right, we never got to do the things we let our kids do. I hope we are doing the right things sometimes. What do you mean yo celebrated with cake and ice cream??? I don't think it would be worth it. Maybe a taste. You have done great don't blow it now. You have probably developed a lot of muscle and that is why you are not losing any more wt.
Jbug, I'm not Kimmy, but hope I can help. This is a great WOE and I think it is so easy to do. I have been doing this since Oct and as of today have lost 82 lbs. This is the only thing that has worked for me. I don't know how old you are & how much wt you have to lose, but if you are under 50, do this now. Don't wait until the skin sags and it is so much harder. Good luck.
Quilter, Congrats on the 1 lb loss. You are at a milestone. Another digit, another set of numbers. Isn't it great! Keep up the good work. Have a great vacation. We will miss you.
Bob, How disappointing that you can't go to Deb's. Sorry to hear about your mom's eye. Sure hope the surgery is successful. Take care of her.
Hope the scale is good to everyone today. Good luck.

Good morning all! Just a quick hello to let you all know I'm hanging in there. Scale is up this am, but my legs are really swollen, so I'm sure that it's mostly fluid gain. I've been on my feet alot with VBS & not eating right either.
Have been in alot of pain with my right shoulder since Friday. Thought it might be a rotator cuff tear, but Chiropractor thinks it's a pinched nerve. Being to think that he's right cause I'm waking up with my arm & hand completely numb. The pain travels from the shoulder up into the neck, over into the clavical, & even down into the muscles of my arm & down into the scapula (shoulder blade). It's really hard to do anything at all, even holding my coffee cup this am is causing excrusiating pain. Not sure what I'll do when I go back to work tomorrow. Anyway, didn't mean to go into that. Just hurting so darn bad....
Sef & Fruit, hope the 2 of you have a great lunch today. Sounds like a fun time. Just hope you'll end up at the same place?
Saw someone else had addressed me in a post, but didn't make a note of it, so I don't remember who it was. Sorry, cause I know I wanted to respond to it. Having a SENIOR MOMENT here :D
Heart, glad to hear that the heart cath went well for your son. What kind of surgery is he having & when? Sorry, I must have missed that.
Gator, your butterfly collection sounds soooo interesting. I love butterflies. They are so beautiful.
Well, got to go. Got another long day. Last one for class time tonight as tomorrow night is Family night. This week has gone well. I have truely enjoyed teaching VBS. We started with 6 kids Sunday night, but doubled to 12 Mon & 14 last night! Total attendace has been from 104 to 114 I believe, so that's a good turn out for us cause we're a small rural town.
Have a great day everyone!

WIW...
Holding my own with no loss or gain and that is going on 2 weeks of no exercise. I was to start my WATP tapes on Monday but my knee was still paining me and I know better than to totally destroy it! I am looking to Monday morning again for starting back so here is to hoping.
JACK-K- You are doing so awesome with your losses! 82 pounds..I have friends that weigh just a few pounds more than that so it is like you have lost one of them off of you! I am so encouraged to read about your success...just 30 more pounds to goal but you have done phenomenal already.
MELIRIS-That must have been a very exciting trip for your son. What a fantastic opportunity for him..and you might end up with a Norwegian as your DIL one day! I am happy to hear about the dog you mentioned not getting aggressive but simply lethargic and saying it was time to go. I hope that happens for us too.
GATOR- You had me looking at butterfly houses because of all your talk! That would be an interesting project for my children to see so maybe I will have to try it next summer.
FRUIT & SEF- Have a great lunch!
BOB-Sorry to hear about your mom. I hope they can get that retina attached without problems.
QUILTER-Congrats on the pound! You are still moving in the right direction and that is what counts.
I had good news from my mother this morning. I had mentioned before on the board that my dishwasher died. Well, she told me this morning that everytime she filled or emptied her own dishwasher she thought of me and felt sorry for me! She infomed me that I am to pick out a brand new dishwasher and she is going to buy it for me!!!! Rejoice! Gotta love my parents! :)

Good morning everyone. I lost a day here yesterday and am sorry. Had to start cleaning for my DIL and GS's coming Monday. So I'm really busy. Yesterday someone gave me a bunch of ripe peaches and I want to get them cleaned and frozen so I can make my kids a peach cobbler while there here. Still got lots of cleaning stuff to do. I always wait till the last minute... Dang me. I should have kept with fly lady and I wouldn't have to be doing this. Anyway I'm proud as punch I lost 4 lbs. Yippee KI AAAA!!!! Happy dance, shouts, yells.....
Gracious- good for holding your own.. That knee just gave you a set down. What a Mom you have... Congrads. on getting a new dishwasher.
Melf- Next week will be better I'm sure. so sorry about your shoulder
Jack-K- Oh my gosh we lost the same... You are doing so good... I'm doing the biggest snazziest Happy Dance for You....
Meliris- Congrads on that bounceing pound... Ye ha...
The Quilter- Hooray for your pound and oh my you're going to get out of the 190's next week for sure.. Happy happy for you....
Sorry if I missed anyone I'm in such a hurry... Will try to check in later....

HiedieHo All!!
I'm so psyched!! I get to meet Fruit today!
QUILT: How sweet it is! That needle will be soon in the 180s!
BOB: So sorry to read about your Mom. You can always plan another trip! You only have one Mom! Will keep her in my prayers.
MELIRIS: You sound like Romper Room, only you have bouncing pounds instead of bouncing balls! My GD cannot stand it if a butterfly or moth comes near her. You should have seen her when she had to do a bug project for school and had to catch some bugs, moths, butterflies and mount them! That's okay I have the same thing with spiders, they are vicious in my opinion!
JACKK: Organizations. like Goodwill should thank SB for providing them with so many clothes. WTG girl!
MELF: Such pain! Hope you get back to normal soon. My DIL works for chiropractor and swears by them. Hope he can help. I'll find the Cafe to meet Missy. I got directions and it's not hard. You do know I can get lost in a paper bag?!?
GRACIOUS: Great parents.
Well, gotta get dressed and have a bite to eat. Empty stomach doesn't like pills!
Another reason I'm all hepped up today. SW airlines is having a special, lowest prices yet. Talked to NJ, MD, and PA and all is OK with them as to dates. Just have to check tonight with DS and DIL and order the tickets before midnight tomorrow.! Know kids will say time is okay, they have to take me to airport, pick me up and I want to ask
Will let you all know about our lunch!

Hello Everyone: Well with TOM here and feeling misery – but hopefully taking its leave by tomorrow evening! I have gained 2 pounds – but I will be able to live with that – and after a visit to the DD in Miami, I should have lost it plus some ;)
Quilter – Good for you!!! Proud of you – and I hope you enjoy your trip!!!! Missed you at chat!!!! Just be safe and enjoy!!!
Sef & Fruit – I am so GREEN WITH ENVY!!!! You two have a wonderful get together and enjoy your LEGAL lunch together – and tell me (us) all about it as soon as you can!!!!
BOB – I AM SO SORRY I AM GOING TO MISS YOU!!!!! But I hope your mom’s eye gets better soon….. and we will just have to plan the next trip while we are in Miami….I am sure a 3 day weekend will come up soon that we can plan on!
Mel – Cool about the pound!!!! Butterflies are so pretty and delicate – would be a nice thing to watch – but I don’t really want them to touch me as well!
Jack-K – OH MY GAWDDDDDDDDD!!!!! THAT IS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!! I am speechless at how succesful you are on this WOE!!! It is incredible….keep it up, it is so inspiring!
TONI – ANOTHER OH MY GAWWWWDDDDDD!!!! THAT IS SO FANTASTIC!!!!!! Have a great time visiting with your family too – Peach cobbler sounds yummy!!!!
Melf – I am blowing kisses to your boo boos!!! Hope you heal up, lose that water swell, and get better! I imagine that pain in the shoulder really hurts….
Gracious – yes, you have to love your mom and give her lots of hugs and kisses and praise for being so caring and giving to help you as she does – that is so wonderful and you are a very lucky woman to have such kind parents!!! That weight will budge, just as long as it is not going up you are still going strong!!! Hope that knee heals up quickly so you can exercise!!!
To All: I keep a journal – when I first started it on May 28th I wrote notes here and there ahead of time for me to read when I hit those dates…
Today’s note to myself read (written at weight 262): It’s been 4 months since you started Sber’s woe and I hope that you have been true to yourself. I hope that you have continued to exercise and have trimmed down enough to be getting lots of compliments. You deserve to be happy with yourself. Take a new picture and post it on line and go buy yourself a gorgeous new outfit for all your hard work – You Go Girl….Mini Goal – to weigh 220, wear size 18.
My response to my note to myself (written today at 249): I may have been a little hopeful with the 220 weight, but not with the size 18 as that is what I am now! The exercise has taken off the inches and tightened up some bad spots, and I get nothing but compliments every day from people – and this weekend in Miami I hope to find a gorgeous new outfit – and treat myself to all this hard work – and it is not HARD work – it is FUN!!!!
One more day Deb!!!
Sabrina (yes, I write to myself!!!)

Happy WIW!
According to MY scale, I’m at 182-3, which is down 2 from the 185 I hit last week, and it’s TOM so I may actually be down a little more. :D I am trying to watch what I eat – had a Thai Shrimp Salad at the family dinner outing last night. I really wanted steak and veggies, but with the danger of a GB attack (*shudder*) I decided to play it safe.
Good news on the house – we’ve all reached an agreement on the price, etc., so it’s all signed. :) Now I just have a month to hold my breath that the financing comes through and we don’t lose it in escrow. *fingers crossed*
Gumbo – your trip sounds heavenly! When I was little I always wanted to live in Wyoming, because it was the least populated state.
Mpinkham – HI and Welcome! I also do Weight Watchers, but I am incorporating the benefits of SugarBusters! There are lots of friendly and helpful people here – several have reached their goal. Glad to meet you!
Gator – thanks for the caterpillar updates. It’s fascinating, even if I do have to live vicariously through your reports.
Jack-K – we decided that we’d follow tradition. We’re not living together until after the wedding (officially anyway), we’re spending the night before the wedding in separate places, and Dan doesn’t want to see me AT ALL the day of the wedding, not until the moment I walk down the aisle. I think it’s sweet! :D Oh and WOW – you lost FOUR lbs.!!! *happy dance for you*
Sef – thanks for the tip on Lane Bryant! They have a store here in town, so I will head over and check it out.
Meliris – when I married before (at 25) we had a quick wedding on my mom’s deck. I borrowed a dress from my mom, just something she had in her closet. This time I wanted to do it “right”, so although we’re not spending a fortune (our entire budget is less than $2000), we’re trying to have a simple but nice wedding. I never expected to have a REAL wedding dress. I’m nervous and excited at the same time! When we renew our vows someday (Lord willing), we want to do it on the beach in Hawaii.
Quilter – yay on the loss! Whoohoo!
Melf – sorry about the pain! Can the chiro help with that? Good luck, it sounds like you’ve been busy!
Gracious – a new dishwasher! *happy dance for you too* Yay! That is great news!
Toni – FOUR lbs. for you too? WOW! You go girl! Wheeeeeeeeee.
Sef and Fruit and those meeting – HAVE FUN! We want to know all about it! Details! Details!
Tranquil - I like your journal idea. I talk to myself too, but only when no one's around.
Have a good middle o’ the week, everyone!

Holding steady at 162 and had a surprise visitor. I swear, I feel like I just finished and here it comes again. And there's already cramping, so I'm not going to be happy the rest of the week.
Gator: I hope you enjoy your butterfly exhibit. I love them. We have had a Yellow Swallowtail hanging around our backyard this summer and I saw a Viceroy the other day. They look just like Monarchs and it is not the right time for Monarchs here in TX so I'm guessing it was a Viceroy. We have lots of Painted Lady and Hackberry Butterflies.
Missy and Sef: I'm excited for you two! Just reading your posts back and forth made me want to hop on down for lunch! Can't wait to see the pictures.
Jack-K: You are an inspiration, Girlfriend! Keep up the good work. My loss isn't nearly that dramatic, and the slow-down is a drag. My 1 year anniversary on SB is in a couple of weeks and I'm just over my half-way mark. But I know this is my way of life now and I'll get to my goal eventually. I did run out to Kohl's Saturday afternoon to buy a pair of jeans that fit. I've gone from an 18 (last August) to a 12.
Mel: Congrats on the loss. What an exciting time for DS. Don't worry about that Norwegian, he'll be in love with someone else before you know it! My 13 y.o. DD flip flops between thinking boys are gross to thinking they are fine!
Jenn: Congrats on the house! And the wedding prep had me wishing I was up there to partake in the celebating! Maybe Mom is trying to forge some gaps that seem to be in your relationship.
Tranquil: Is the eye better? Hope you and Serene have a fantastic trip this weekend. Pictures, we want pictures!
Serene: See above. How's the home life, BTW?
Gumbo: Welcome back! I would love to take a road trip out west. There was a newshow the other night about how many people are renting RVs this year and seeing what our great country has to offer. I just might have to do that next summer. My folks have a motor home and I'd love to borrow it and just go. DD graduates from HS next year, so we'll see.
Jbug: Keep coming to this board, you'll find lots of inspiration!
mpinkham: Welcome and congrats on your WW loss. This is a great place to get your body and mind in shape.
Toni: I LOL at the thought of your DS screaming at you through the phone to put down that food! Hope you enjoy your visit with the GKs. My kids love to visit their GPs. And congrats on the loss. WTG, Girlfriend!!!!!!
Deb: You get the puter fixed yet? I think checking recent downloads is a great idea from Melf. But you did say you had a lightning strike, didn't you? Maybe it's had a slow death since then. Hope you get a new modem soon.
Gracious: How's our baby today? Aren't parents wonderful sometimes, actually, most of the time for me. My mom sent me a check a couple of weeks ago to help with the bills. DH has been without a job since February. I thanked her for it through tears and she said "it's going to be yours someday, anyway." DH is probably going to get a job in Amarillo. That's way up the in TX panhandle and a long way from Rockwall. He'll probably commute, via SWA (sorry ladies, but that's the way to go in these parts) because DD is a senior and there's no way we can move right now.
I need to ask you all to remember a friend of mine this week. Her oldest DS has gotten himself into some serious trouble with the law. He's bi-polar, has the emotional capacity of a 13 y.o. and makes decisions without thinking of the consequences and it's really bad. She needs your good thoughts and prayers right now as she decides whether or not to help him or let him finally suffer the consequences. He's 20.
Funny how the Lord works; I had a dream about her the other night that I couldn't find her anywhere. That made me call her day before yesterday and we had a nice long talk. Then last night she called to share with me this problem because I've always been there for her. I told her this is why I dreamed about her!
Gotta run and get the house straightened. Hope the computer man calls back to say he's coming to fix my laptop. He didn't fix it on Monday and he and 2 other techs are not agreeing on what's wrong. Anyway, I'm getting a new motherboard with a processor, a new keyboard(because I popped the K key off trying to get something out from under it) and a new bottome to hold in the battery. I'll have a brand new computer when this is all over. Just hope all my work is still in the memory when it puts it back together.

Hi all. Didn't weigh this morning. I'm trying not to worry about the weight and just focus on the behavior of eating right.
Sorry to hear about your Mom, BOB. Hope the surgery works.
Well, all the caterpillars are now chrysalides. I have 3 of these gray stick like things attached to the twigs in the bowl. My book says it takes a week or so before the butterfly comes out. So that's about 4-5 days for one of them and a week or more for the other 2. I read more in my butterfly book. It said that the caterpillars shed their skin periodically as they grow bigger from all the eating they do. Basically, they are nothing more than eating machines. The change into a chrysalis is the last "molt" and then the remaining, skinless caterpillar hardens into a chrysalis. I saw one of them shed. The last one "turned" sometime last night.
Debbie, I have exactly 1/3 Cup agave nectar left. I ordered some more from SCF but have not gotten it yet. I hope they are reputable. I sent them a check 2 weeks ago. I called, but it seems that the only day they even set their answering machine to "on" is Wednesdays. I left a message, but they have not called me back. I'm just wondering if they have shipped my agave yet.
I'm fixing tomorrows lunch this afternoon. Have to poach the salmon and roast the veggies. I am cooking the navy beans for the salad now, so it should be really easy. Guess I'll try a whole recipe for the cheesecake with just 1/3 c. agave. If it needs more sweetening, I'll just use Splenda.
Well, gotta go.
Have fun this afternoon you Louisiana girls.

Melf- Joseph has a heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome or HLHS for short. In other words, he doesn't have a left ventricle, the main pumping chamber. It is 100% fatal without surgical intervention. He has had 2 open heart surgeries and we are waiting on a date for his third. The surgeries are reconstructive that will make it to where his right ventricle does all the work(like he only will have 1/2 a heart). We hope this will sustain him for many years because eventually the right ventricle will fail from doing all the work. Hopefully, there will be more advances in technology and medicine by then. We don't focus on the future- I guess it's enough stress worrying about the present.

Hi Gang,
Just getting ready to go get a pedicure for my trip. I really need one. My feet are nasty. Have a birthday party tonite. Pizza and cake and icecream. Guess I'll eat when I get home. Oh well.
Catching up now.
Melf, Hope your shoulder gets better. A pinched nerve sure is easier to deal with thanthe rotater cuff. Hope tht is all it is. I'm sure the scale will go down for you soon. Probably all water anyway.
Gracious, Thanks for the sweet words. I know you are doing great yourself. I held the same for 2-3 weeks and finally a nice drop. Hang in there. Great news on the dishwasher. You have some great parents.
Toni, Isn't it funny how we almost always lose the same amount. Good motivation for us. Wonderful for you on the 4 lbs too. We are just dancing around everywhere. Pretty soon you will be in a new set of numbers.
Sef, have a wonderful lunch with Fruit. Watch out though, she is crazy. I am as bad as you with directions. I can hardly get back and forth to work unless I go the same way. LOL
Tranquil, I am sure your 2 lbs is due to TOM. It will be gone soon. I loved the note thingy. What a great idea. If nothing else, it helps you keep going. Sorta like mini goals. That's what I do. Have a wonderful time with Deb and yes buy a beautiful outfit. You deserve it girl.
Jenn, WTG on the 2 lbs. You are doing it girl. Keep up the good work. One day at a time. Congrats on the house. Don't worry, everything will go fine. Dan sounds like such a sweety. You all will be very happy. I hope you get to Hawaii one day to renew your vows.
Jred, Don’t you hate “surprises” like that one. Hope its misery passes quickly. Going from a 18 to a 12 is great. Makes you feel good doesn’t it. I give, what is SWA? How sad for your friend and her DS. Sometimes “tough love” is the only way. It must have been “divine” intervention, you calling hers. Prayers for her.
Gator, Good idea about not weighing and focusing on eating right. I think we become too obsessed with that scale.
Heartmom, Don’t take any breath for granted. Prayers and hugs for you & Boogie.
Have a great nite everyone. Talk to you tomorrow.

Good afternoon
Just checking in for WIW although I don't have any good news to report as I am up 2 pounds this week. I am not surprised though as I have been bad the last couple of days, eating iced cake and caramel corn. I'm back on the wagon again to-day. I can't afford to gain any more - hopefully I can at least get rid of those extra pounds in the next few days. I am going on a bus tour in a couple of weeks to Branson, Missouri so need to get back down so my clothes won't be too tight. I am going out this evening to a Chinese restaurant with some friends from work - my retirement party - and hope I can stay mainly legal.
This is the second time trying to do a post. I just was half way through a post using Wordpad, which I always use, and suddenly it disappeared on me. I must have hit the wrong key but no idea which one I hit. Has any one else had this happen while using Wordpad? Now I am running out of time. Have to jump in the shower and get dressed.
Gracious - So sorry to hear about your dog. Hope he doesn't have to suffer too much.
Jen - Loved the wedding dress.
Melf - Sorry to hear about the pain you are having in your shoulder. Hope you can get it better soon. Just try and take it easy at work. Hope you don't have to do too much lifting.
Congrats to all the losers this week.
Bye for now. Have a good evening everyone.
Marie.

Hey All:wave:
This is going to have to be quick-sorry! Just have lots to do before the guests arrive tomorrow. Wish BOB was coming!
WIW was the same, still up at 129:(
Got in my jog/walk this morning before the meeting but only had enough time to do 3.5 miles-better than what I was planning on doing which was zippo! Only problem was I didn't have any time to cool down and I was sweating after trying to apply my make-up!
Anyone play Scrabble-played a quick game with the kids today-used all 7 letters!!!! First time:D
Okay, back to the grindstone. I have more work on the house to do than I did yesterday. Does anyone feel like I do? Why bother, the kids crap it up right after you clean up? Last night MICHAEL chopped all his hair off by himself (okay, most of it, I did the back a bit) and had/has hair all over the house! Kids bathroom was spotless before that, forget it, it's everywhere and THEN he has the nerve to go into my bathroom and get hair all over there! I took all I could and threw it in his bed! THEN I find the remnants of a eaten pear on my table in the family room, along with fragments of popcorn. Kitchen floor, drop something, keep walking is his motto! Thank goodness LAUREN isn't so bad, she's pretty good, but MICHAEL, you want to wring his neck sometimes! There's not one room in this house that MICHAEL doesn't crap up and I want to SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone else have this problem???
Okay, back I go. I will try to post a quickie tomorrow as well, and the rest of the weekend, I don't know if you'll be hearing from me:^:

HiedieHo All!!!
What a nice person Missy is! Her sister and niece are so nice too. We had no discomfort in our opening gambit. They were so easy and friendly to talk to.
I was so mad, I was late. The road was not marked very well (I told you about that paper bag!) and I got lost. Had to stop for directions and was late. Me, Ms Puncuality!
We ate at the Cafe Rani, I had a Cobb Salad, which was huge and I couldn't eat, but it was too hot to tote a doggie bag around. It was very good though. I am afraid we chatted so long we probably over stayed our welcome there.
Then we went into a couple of antique shops (the area we were in is the Historical area). As we were ready to call it a day and were leaving one of the shops, a downpour came so we sat on their porch, it got so bad we went back inside, and finally gave in and raced through the rain to our cars.. Well, maybe race is not the right word! I was soaked so they had to be drenched since they had further to go to their car.
All in all it was a wonderful visit. MELF you have to get together with us!
Thanx Missy for a wonderful day! It was a treat to meet you all!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!
DEB...BOB wishes she were coming too! BUT as Sabrina says....they will have another 3 day weekend in the fall...we'll do it then.
Got my Mom home and have her staked out on the couch so she can remain on her right side. She must keep the pressure off the left eye. GOOD LUCK TO ME!!!
She did really well and the procedure took a little over two hours.
They found blood in her eye, and couldn't understand why she hadn't had any flashes or pain...STRANGE
THANKS to everyone who has wished her well....and SEF...thanks for the prayers...
I've got to get back to my nursing..waiting on my brother to call.
Got to get everything done...BIG BROTHER TONIGHT 9 PM

Hey everyone!!
Just a quickie - I'll be back later! I just wanted to let you all know what a wonderful lunch SEF and I had!
First of all, Shirley - it was SOOOO nice to finally meet you - you are a doll! I really enjoyed my visit with you - my sister was amazed at how we just picked up and chatted away - like old friends!! You would have never suspected that we had never officially "met" before!!! We must get together again soon - maybe in Metairie - that would be more of a half-way point for the both of us! Hopefully, MELF can join us on that one!!
Today was great! SEF did a great job staying on plan - I, on the other hand, didn't - IMAGINE THAT! :s: Is that such a surprise? I had something called Crawfish Monica Pasta. It was a wonderful, slightly spicy, cajun sauce with crawfish of course over a pasta - that wasn't wheat!:o Oh well, it was delicious! I was very tempted to have dessert too - but I didn't!
We had shopped a little before we went to the Cafe' and I bought a few little things for my kitchen. My sister has been giving me these little pictures to hang in my kitchen over the past couple of years - you know for each holiday. Well, we went into the shop where she gets them and they were going out of business. So, naturally, I had to buy the ones that I didn't have yet since she wouldn't be able to get them in the future - and I still needed a few more. So, I bought the 4 that I didn't have. They were on sale too! That made it even better - but - my hubby didn't think so!! HAHA!
After our wonderful lunch we went into a few more stores but as SEF mentioned earlier, the rain got us! We waited and waited but decided to go despite the fact that it wasn't over with. Well, needless to say - we got SOAKED! It was so funny! And, of course, after we got in the car - the rain slacked a lot! Boy - isn't that the story of my life!!
Well, that's our day - it was wonderful and I can't wait to do it again SEF!! Once school gets into full swing and I get settled, we'll do it again! I'll be back later to post to everyone!
Thanks again Shirley for a wonderful day!
Missy

OK...two weeks in a row that I am not a happy camper. I'm up 2.5 lbs from last week.:( I have been really careful with my eating, except for Sun nite when we had ice cream after church:s: I've resisted croissants, cookies and eclairs at the workshop I've been at the last two days and had tons of water (5 - 15 oz bottles yesterday, 4 today just during the workshop) I've spent more time in the bathroom than in the workshop:lol: Hoping I can resist again tomorrow so maybe I'll see a loss. I got up early yesterday and today to do my WATP 2 mile before going to school.
Need encourage y'all.
JEANIE: We're doing a 3 day workshop called Capturing Kids Hearts. It's been good, but loooong days. It's very similar to Tribes training if you're familiar with that. When do you have to start back?
FRUIT: Sounds like you and SEF had a great time. How is hubby's ear. Glad to hear the nose escaped injury.
DEB: Michael's behavior sounds familiar. I think it's a guy thing. Dennis isn't bad about food, but wherever the clothes fall is where they stay.
JENN: WTG on your loss. BTW your dress is beautiful. :)
JACK-K: Woo-Hoo!!!:D 4 lbs! That's awesome!
QUILTER: Congrats on the loss.
BOB: Sorry to hear about mom's eye. Hope everything goes well.
Glad I got to join the chat last nite. First time in forever.

Hi All! Sorry this has to be a quickie. Still trying to get ready for my friend tomorrow. What fun!!! I just wanted to say congrats to all who had a loss today and send some hugs to those who didn't see a loss. Keep your chins up. There's always next week. I am pulling for you all.
BOB---Sorry to hear about your mom's eye. I'm glad that the procedure went well. I can't think of anybody better than you to nurse her back to health. Hope all goes well during her healing.
Take care, everybody!

Tina: We still have 3 weeks before we have to start our workshops. The school administration decided to give our 2 new elementary schools as much time as possible to be completed. We had an addition built on one wing of our building and I think it's almost ready for move-in. When that happens, I think almost every teacher will be switching rooms. The Kindergarten rooms and the special classes will be the only ones staying put. Thank goodness. I had to move 4 years ago out of my nice sized room into a dinky one built as a life skills classroom. Then 2 years later, I got my original room back. I don't want to move again!
I never heard of either one of those programs. Are they character building? or emotioal development? or what?

JEANIE: You have a little more time than I do. This week's workshop was not required but we'll get comp time for inservice days during the school year.:) I'll have next week to veg and then start inservice the 14th. The kids start the 19th. James and Sarah are so excited and ready to go back. Glad you don't have to move again. I would hate to move all my stuff...unless they gave me a nice big room.:D Both programs I mentioned were character building programs. Both sound very good, but it's hard to know just how to fit it in when you teach 22 different classes.

WIW wasn't too bad yesterday after all...just up a pound. I'll take that over the wacky 5 that came and went. My body is showing it's age this morning...I'm am sooooo stiff from all the recent shooting. I pulled my neck or something last night. I'm gonna try to shoot this afternoon providing it doesn't hurt my neck too bad.
Hang in there Music...the pounds will come back off.
Jred....awesome on dropping from an 18 to a 12. That shows how hard you have been working at eating right.
Deb...I can so relate...all five of my kiddos think I have MAID tatooed on my head. You would think at least one of them would pick up my habits..but nooooo too much like their dad. :)
Bob...so glad your mom is doing better. I'm praying she heals quickly.
Fruit and Sef...thanks for sharing your day. It sounds like you had such a blast.
Melf...praying your shoulder feels better soon.
HeartMom..I can't imagine the stress you must be under. Keeping you and your family in prayers.
Quilter...enjoy your company.
Gracious...let me add my sorries about your pup. I know it's hard on grown ups but even harder on the kiddos. They just don't understand.
Jack-K and Toni...AWESOME on the four pounds....what I wouldn't give for a 4 pound week again. :)
Jenn...2 pounds is great. Congrates on getting your price on the new house.
I'm sure I"m missing some..I apologize. I woke up way to early this morning and am starting to drag already. Have a super day everyone.

Thursday...
Let's see...the scale says one pound down from yesterday but it is probably a trick! I won't count it till next Wednesday cause it will probably just come back. Now, I shouldn't be such a pessimist ( did I spell that right?!) I will say that it *will* still be gone next Wednesday!
MUSICTEACH-I want to encourage you girl! Just keep eating on plan, be determined and think about how you are treating your body. You are eating properly, you are Exercising, you are going to lose some pounds. Even though it sometimes seems like it is taking forever, if you don't stick with it, you are going to gain even more. That is one of the things that keeps me going sometimes. I might be spinning my wheels and not losing, but I know if I stop eating this way then I will certainly gain. That is NOT worth it. {{hugs}} *You can do it, you can do it, ya can, ya can!!*
DEBELLI-Are you kidding me? Sounds like my life times three! My kids are younger and I can control a bit more but I know exactly how you feel. I have gotten to the point ( Oh, the FLYlady has taught me a few things about getting the kids to cooperate) where I simply have to tell them to get such and such cleaned up before they do anything else...they do..but it has to be cleaned up to Mommy's standards, not their own and that is the hard part. Sometimes though, it does drive me bonkers. I love the feeling of having a completely clean house but like you said, the kids run through it once and destroy so much in such a short time...truly grieves the homemaker's heart! I guess it is like my hubby says..One day they won't be here to make a mess and we will miss them so much. True I say. I will miss them but I don't think I will ever miss the mess!
BOB- So happy to hear your Mom got through the eye procedure and that all seems well for now. Take care of your Mommy good and remember all the times she took care of you when you were little. I think it is so nice to have the opportunity of giving back to our parents in these ways as we grow older.
SEF & FRUIT- So glad you had a terrific time together. FRUIT, what on earth were you thinking of eating illegal pasta when you were meeting a fellow SB'er? I guess you really wanted it. Did you get the headache or upset tummy last night like others complain about when they eat offplan? I never feel physically ill when I eat bad stuff...too bad because it would be a great help!
I have to get moving. I have 4 loads of laundry to fold this morning. I am notorious for always having everything washed but not having it folded immediately. I am so silly that way because it makes for more work with wrinkles. Have a wonderful day everyone!

I'm allergic to lettuce so I try not to eat big salads. I'll eat lettuce on sandwiches or eat a small salad but - I don't eat them as a meal since I found out that I was allergic! Good morning! I know it's not Wednesday but I've missed a lot of days. Problem w/computer. Deb-not only is Benjamin just like Michael in mess he also downloads tons of stuff on his computer & then doesn't understand why it's sooooo slow and gets error messages. Anyway, Peter is down to 207 (from 225) and I'm still eyeballing 140 @ 141. I would go faster if I wanted to be totally focused but I am a little sloppy. Hi Gang,
Well only 3 1/2 more hours for me and I'm on vacation. YEAH!!!!!
I can't wait. I have to fix SIL2B a bday dinner tonite and then iron and pack. I am packing ww bread in my purse. Know when we get to airport in Orlando, probably only fast food places. So I will be prepared. Might take some to the hotel in case we have to eat sandwiches for lunch. Should have plenty of salads. Not worried. plan to eat 100% OP. It is just a WOL now. Now the drinking part is a different story. Especially since all alcohol is included. We will walk the beach alot and hopefully that will help. Not sure if they have a fitness center in the hotels, but I did Friday's workout today and will finish today's tonite. Figure I can do lower body in the room and Tuesday, I can do Monday's. That way I won't miss a day.
Just found out that the beach is a topless beach. Oh my and me with only a 1 piece. Guess DH is going to enjoy himself. LOL.
My only problem is I don';t know how I'm going to go 4 whole days without reading and posting. I'm going to miss you guys.
Save any good stuff for Tuesday. LOL.
Luckily it's been slow at work today, so I'm pretty much caught up. Don't know if I'll get back or not. If not, See ya Tuesday!!!
Oh, I checked the scale today just to make sure yesterday's loss was real. It showed another 2 lb. loss. But we don't count that unless it is still there next WIW. Just alittle cushion for vacation.

SCHOOL IS IN SESSION!!!!!!!
OK, so only the middle schooler went back today because Kindergarten does a phase-in program - 6 kids each day for the 1st 3 days... and we're a "W" last name so my kiddo won't go for the first day until Monday... But I'm halfway there!
The oldest one was a little nervous and made me take him inside (unheard of for a 10 year old to actually WANT mom to take him to class!!! I'm sure it won't happen again!)
The little one will probably not want me to go in at all, we went to open house, saw the class and the teacher, and he'll probably just go right in alone!
Finally some peace and quiet in the daytime so I can SLEEP around here!!
I called my family physician about all this surgery business. I did a LOT of reading online for the last few days and found something that makes me kind of uncomfortable. The OB/GYN stated to me that the pain & heavy flow/clots were two different problems and I needed both procedures to fix them... well all the reading I've done has stated that Endometriosis CAN BE a cause of heavy flow/clots. He SPECIFICALLY told me NO when I asked him that very thing. I no longer trust him and I won't go back to him. Chalk it up to a $20 learning lesson (copay!)
I have finally (BEGRUDGINGLY) decided to give the pill a try. There is a new one out called Yasmin, that is a different kind of progestin that is formed from a diuretic and not testosterone, and therefore causes less androgenic effects, less bloating, less weight gain, and less PMS symptoms. But it will help regulate me and most times the pill causes lighter/shorter periods. In the studies it said the incidence of weight gain was the same for this pill and the placebo, so either the placebo people chowed down, or nobody did much gaining. I'm just nervous because I've worked so hard to get where I am, and I have so far still to go, and I don't want to get too discouraged if I start gaining from it.
Wish me luck, I start taking them in 10 days. I hope they work out wonderfully, no side effects, and no surgery!
OK... I'm off to get ready for work, it's a 2nd shift day :) See ya'll later!!!

JackK--By the time you read this you probably will have returned from your vacation. What beach are you going to? Must be Playa Linda because part of that, the southern end, is topless. You have to hike a bit to get to that area.
Fruitloupe--I'm with you. I have no sickness whatsoever after eating Off Plan. My tongue and stomach can handle a candy bar just as easily as it does broccoli! LOL I'm glad y'all had a good time yesterday. The kids here start school next week. I remember starting school after Labor Day. Things have changed.
My golf and lunch plans changed dramatically today. The woman called about 7:30 this morning and said she couldn't come and that we would try to get together in about 3 weeks when she gets back from vacation. So--I had fixed that lovely luncheon. I even made her a cute little gift--One of those nice jewelry pouches you put your jewelry in when you travel. It packs really nicely.
So, I called up my half-sister who plays golf, and the two of us went out and played and then she came over and we ate all the food. It was good. The cheescake turned out great, Deb. Better than the first one I made because I cooked it just slightly less. The center was creamier. I served raspberries over it. Then we watched Trading Spaces on TV and just had a good time. It probably was even more fun than my original plans. I just hated to see that good food go to waste just on me.
I shot a 39 on a par 27 golf course. So I shoot a little worse than bogey golf. She shot the same thing!
Well, gotta go and study French.

Just sitting here waiting for my company to come. We will take off bright and early tomorrow morning for the eastern tip of WV. About a 7 hour drive. Just wanted to say a couple of things.
BOB---Glad to hear that Mom is seeing some. It's amazing what they can do these days. Back in the 60's when my grandmother had cateracts and a detached retina, she had to lay in a hospital bed for three days with sandbags on either side of her head. Glad to know they've updated that technology and treatment. Sending good thoughts your and her way.
JACK-K---Girl, have a BLAST on vacation!!!! I hope you get down there and shake your little old tailfeather and make all sorts of wonderful memories. Be careful. Beware of Montezuma's revenge. And don't forget to take your SPF!!! How's that for some quick mothering??? LOL Can't wait to hear all about your trip.
Sorry, friends. I know that I missed a ton of you. Just know that I'll be thinking about you all this weekend, but probably won't have time to post. I am taking my laptop, but don't even know if there's a phone at this place. Keep your fingers crossed that I don't blow it this weekend. I'm taking all sorts of legal foods just to make sure I'm not desperate.
Take care.

Gator, we are going to Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic. It's one of those all inclusives. I'm glad you got your lunch plans turned around and had a great time.
Beth, How funny about taking yor 10 yr old into school. You never know what is going thru their minds. Hope you soon get all your rest. Beth the pill will also help ent endometrosis. My DD tried them, but still ended up the the lap. But I went back on them and my periods are very very lite, still long, but lite. Good luck.

HiedieHo All!
Have lost my mind! Was a half hour late to NH today. No reason, just got days mixed up. Bought a carryon bag for trip, my old one has seen better days, quick trip to WD, home and a long nap.
JENN: You still might want to check out the web site of Lane Bryany. We have a store here too, but they don't carry much in the way of lingerie and there is not a big choice of clothes as in the catalog.
DEB: Love Scrabble! All seven tiles, I'm impressed! My GD is a room disaster producer! Her bedroom is a mine field! She is always losing something (she's says it's not lost if it gets found!, doesn't matter that the finding takes and hour!). I don't say anything but at times I have a hard time holding my tongue and something slips out! You know the feeling! She needs a "minder" to follow her around.
BOB: You'll be a wonderful nurse. Prayers continue.
FRUIT: You are so right! We started talking like old friends. Sounds good to meet again. Metarie, hmmmm, sounds like a place I could get lost in! Never been there! I had been to the Cafe once and looked what happened!! Your niece and sister were so friendly too. You certainly have a great family! I tripped today over a loaf of bread! I should never have bought it! So much for being OP yesterday! You'll notice I didn't tell what you had for lunch!
To anyone who has a chance to meet up with a fellow board member do so! There are wonderful people here!
MUSIC: Be not dismayed the weight will drop. Sometimes we just hit a little hump and it takes a while to get over it!
JACKK: Topless!?! No way Jose! One thing I wouldn't have to lean over to brush the sand off my feet, my boobs would do it for me!
BETH: Hope the new pill works for you. Good you did some research, sometimes we think doctors know everything and they don't.
I know I missed some of you. Will have to catch up the next time. You know I care for all!

Ok!
Now I'm gonna try to post a picture of me and my new "baby" Cozmo. I don't have him yet - he isn't totally weaned yet. I should get him in mid September I think. So, for now - I just go to visit and play with him so that he can get used to me! He is a Spectacled Amazon parrot.
Oh yeah - check out that double chin!! gross!

Good Friday Morning!
Just wanted to post a quickie update...
SERENE & TRANQUIL arrived this morning a bit after 2am and are pretending to be sleeping beauties at this time. I, on the other hand, am up but not up, feel like a walking zombie-only got an hour and a half of sleep:eek: Would love to climb back in bed but stupid me already made it and plus, wouldn't be so nice of me to crash back in to bed and have them wake up, now would it!
Those two are definitely a hoot and lots of fun and I can say that and we haven't even done anything yet! Today we are going to a few places before lunch and then hitting SAWGRASS MILLS MALL for the rest of the day-seems those two lovs to shop and what better place to take them to!
Tonight, ELI is cooking for us - what a nice servant, I mean guy! LOL!!
Oh, BOB, your coffee, ummm, the gals say you snooze you loose, it's a free for all-same with your spices;) Better luck next time, as they say. (Don't worry, ELI would never really let that happen, would he!). Hope your Mom's eye is better
FRUIT-loved the pics!!!!!!!!!!! Couldn't help notice them as I shot down the page-glad I didn't miss them. Can't wait to read about your visit with SEF.
HELLO TO EVERYONE ELSE!!!
I hope all is well with everyone.
Guess I'll get in the shower in hopes of getting not only clean, but waking up some.
Have a great weekend!

A quick Friday Howdy.
Missy: Love the pictures. It's so much fun meeting our cyber pals. The baby is a beaty!
Deb: Tell the Jax gals hey and y'all have a great time this weekend.
Tina: I think I forgot to tell you the first day of school is August 29.
Gumbo: Enjoy your meeting with Trish. You'll have a good time, I know! Right Beth?
Beth: Good for you doing your research. You don't have to settle for one doctor's opinion. I bet the BC pills do help.
Time to go shopping. TX has a no sales tax weekend and we are headed to Kohl's for school clothes. Not much money this year because of DH's job situation, but they'll be able to get more of what they like at Kohl's.
Catch you later!

Friday...I am down another pound so that is 2 in 2 days but TOM arrived yesterday. That guy is still coming too soon and I wish there was a way to give him the boot!
We got a new little puppy yesterday. She is a terrier cross from the SPCA where we got our other dog and cat. She is a sweet little thing and very much a lap dog. Our Husky, who has the tumour, likes her and already tried to play with the wee thing. She is just a handful and I named her Pixie. Very different from our big dog but I wanted a small house dog. Hubby will get himself another *real dog* when our poor husky is gone.
My neighbour is having a yard sale tomorrow so I will have to dig around today and see what I can find to put out with her. I went on a FLYLady rampage lately so I don't have much left so I don't think I will make much money.
FRUIT- I ADORE your new baby!!!! He is soooo cute. How wonderful for you to get this Amazon Parrot. It is even more wonderful that you are getting to bond with him before he is weaned. I am excited for you because one day hubby and I are going to get ourselves a larger bird. They can be wonderful companions.
SEF- You are your *boob* stories always have me laughing.
SERENE, TRANQUIL & DEB-Have a great time together eating and shopping and laughing no doubt. Don't get into too much trouble!
I am off to find stuff for the sale. Have a great Friday!

BOB--Rankings, schmankings! What matters is how it all ends up. Hope the Gators make it to Atlanta and restore the honor of the SEC East.
OK all you other SBers out there. Just keep it cool. BOB and I like to do a little trash talkin’ ‘bout this time of year. We still love each other. Her Vols and my Gators are big rivals and it makes it more fun to yak it up a little. BOB, I read that the SEC misses SOS already and at the annual meeting he was still all they could talk about. He definitely has more charisma than Phat Phil, and he added such flair to the SEC. The reason people “hated” him was because he always beat their butt and didn’t play the “aw shucks” game.
Fillise--I’m gonna miss that trip up to Auburn. We loved that trip and always had a great time. We spent more time in the cute downtown this last time because we knew we might not get back there. The Gators kept only LSU as their regular West opponent. Of course, NO is not a bad place to visit either.
My DH is out of town so I stayed up till 1 am. last night, like a nut. Am just vegging out today. Debbie, you and the Jax contingent have a great time this weekend.

Just checking in- Hubby is out of town working right now, so I've been a little bored but glad to have some "freedom". Now that he's gone, I can stay up to the wee hours in the morning, hehehe. And I haven't cleaned as much as I normally do, plus the fact that he's more of a mess maker than the kids.... Anyway, Ashley starts school on the 8th- first grade. I can't wait because she is driving me crazy, lol. It's just too hot here to let her play outside so she stays cooped up in the house with me all day. As for Boogie, he has developed a very nasty cough. I listened to him with the stethescope and he sounds clear, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he is. Poor baby can't take anything for it either. Just hoping it doesn't turn into pneumonia. I found a couple of bargains while school shopping for Ashley. She absolutely loves Barbie and Kmart had Barbie pants for $20- well I seen a pair on the clearance rack and they were marked down to $13, so I got them and at the checkout they rang up $9,cool. Then another outfit that was $17, rang up $7, even better. Then we went to Walmart and I found a cute pair of tennis shoes for $5 and got her some Easter Sandals for next year for $2.50 and got Boogie a cute pair of Mickey Mouse tennis shoes for $2.50,also. They were all origianlly around $13-$15. Anyway- I'm still holding my weight at 229- it was up a couple pounds(fluid). I really hope I can lose a couple by next WIW.

Hello, SB board.
I'm new - just finished the book. You seem to have a great thread going here.
I have the typical sordid diet past (Weight watchers, counting calories). I have managed to stay within a certain weight range, but it is a constant struggle. I have to watch every mouthful, and I have a tendency to binge on refined carbs and gain weight.
I bought the SB book because last week, when my in-laws were visiting, I happened to eat many more carbs than I normally do. By Sunday, I felt terrible - absolutely hung over! Not to mention "puffy." I had seen an article in the NY Times about Atkins, and that there may be some validity to that approach. The final straw was meeting a friend for lunch who is on Atkins and seeing that he was down about 30 pounds. We have the same Dr., who had given my friend his approval for the Atkins plan. After surfing around gathering info. on various plans, SB seemed to be the right fit.
But...
I do not know anyone who has done the plan, so I cannot tell if it "works." Would any of you be willing to share your weight loss journies with me on the SB plan so that I can make a decision? Pros? Cons? Comparisons with WW or other plans? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry fo interrupting your board with the long post. Just thought I would sneak in here while none of you were looking.
:s:
Thanks much.

Daisy: Welcome to our corner of cyberspace! You've come to a great place for support. I, too, as many of us have been in the same place you are.
There are MANY success stories here. I'm coming up on my 1 year anniversary in a few weeks and I've lost 34 pounds - more than half-way to my goal. I had the SB book for a year before I could begin this Way Of Eating (WOE). My weight loss is slow, but I've dropped from a size 18 to a 12 that's getting looser by the day.
Ask any questions and someone here, usually most, will have an answer you. It really works and I haven't craved anything illegal since I went through sugar detox. That does happen to some. I had a really bad headache for 4 days. When that was gone, so was my desire for sweet things.
So we hope you hang around.

Boy!!! Have I missed this board!!!
It's been really hot here the past couple of weeks and last week we had some bad storms. The one we had last Friday was big thunder and lightning. The lightning struck a transformer 2 doors down. The transformer blew up and that in turn fried some of our stuff--the modem being one thing. I have been going nuts without my computer. I know I don't post often, but I do read most stuff and that helps to keep me motivated.
I'm trying to keep it under 170. Had a bad time last weekend and ate popcorn and pancakes the next morning. I felt blah! All bloated and my head felt like I was hung over. So just a reminder to you all, DON"T DO IT!!! It's not worth it.
I was really getting into the WATP and so was DS. But the DVD was another thing that got fried -- with the 1/2 mile walk disc locked inside!!!! I can't get it out without breaking it and don't want to do that till I hear from insurance. That was the only exercise I was doing (and I really liked it!!) so I'm getting a little flabby. Gotta get back to the elliptical and weights.
I haven't had a chance to read from last week. I'll probably just start fresh with the new board on Monday. This is a long weekend here for us. GRACIOUS is there a holiday in New Brunswick on Monday? I know that not every province gets one.
WELCOME to any newbies!!!! I hope everyone is doing their very best to stay OP.
Bye for now!

HiedieHo All!
Busy day! Am glad to sit down and rest. My GD made the front page of the Times Picayune's St. Tammany Section! She has been taking a week long course at the local PBS station on film making. There were 10 students. Half the students did a 5 minute piece on teenagers working/responsibilities. Her team did one on the SPCA. She was the director (Iwonder why!) and she also appeared on camera interviewing a family that had come in to adopt a pet. She and another girl were pictured at a console and the article was very interesting. Each student got a tape showing the teams throughout the week and then the final cut of the minidocumentary as it will appear on Channel 13 here. She and another girl did so well, that they are going to be the channel's correspondents for events filmed at their school. She is so excited. As some of you may know she wants to go into film making and be a director.
FRUIT: Yeah, a great job hiding our bodies. Should have hidden my face too! Looks like I didn't wipe my mouth after a plateful of spaghetti!! You are so pretty! Forget the double chin, we were all looking at Cozmo! Now teach him the college song and you're all set. HE's so cute!
DEB: Being up so early ahead of your guests, I hope you put the coffee pot on! Computers are nice, but coffee first! Hope you have a wonderful visit. I enjoyed being with Fruit. You must have missed it we both posted on page 5 I think.
GRACIOUS: Such a cute name, Pixie! I really miss my Freckles, but I do have Bear who acts more dog like than cat like as far as affection and keeping me company! This is the first time in 59 years I have not had a dog. And they all lived good long lives.
HEART: Hope Boogie will be alright. You are quite the bargain diva!
DAISY: You are not interrupting! We love to answer questions! I had lost 60# in a year, then my scales broke....hmmmm. Feel I probably have lost a couple more. I have been a slow loser, because I strayed from the beaten path a couple of months. Didn't really eat no-nos just ate to much of yesses! My triglyceride and chloresterol numbers have gone down, I feel so much better, do not have the pancreas attacks as I did before SB. Just for general health this is a great plan.
ZANNE: Missed you. Hope the insurance covers your losses. I get withdrawal symptoms without the computer too!
Okay gotta finish the paper. Will post a couple of funnies.
Take care all.

HE SAID/SHE SAID
He said... I don't know why you wear a bra; you've got nothing to put in
it.
She said...You wear briefs, don't you?
He said....Do you love me just because my father left me a fortune?
She said...Not at all honey, I would love you no matter who left you the
money.
She said...What do you mean by coming home half drunk?
He said....It's not my fault...I ran out of money.
He said... Since I first laid eyes on you, I've wanted to make love to
you in the worst way._
She said...Well, you succeeded.
He said... What have you been doing with all the grocery money I gave
you?
She said...Turn sideways and look in the mirror.
He said... Let's go out and have some fun tonight._ She said...Okay, but
if you get home before I do, leave the hallway light on.
He said... Why don't you tell me when you have an orgasm?
She said...I would, but you're never there.
He said....Shall we try a different position tonight?_
She said...That's a good idea, you stand by the ironing board while I sit on the sofa and fart."

Every Sunday, a little old lady placed $1,000 in the collection plate.
This went on for weeks until the priest, overcome with curiosity,
approached her. "Sister, I couldn't help but notice that you put $1,000 a week in the collection plate, that is very generous," he stated.
"Why thank you father," she replied, "every week my son sends me money, and what I don't need I give to the church."
"That's wonderful. How much does he send you each week."
"Oh he's a wonderful thoughtful son, he sends me $2,000 a week
for my needs."
"Your son must be very successful, what does he do for a living?"
"Why he's a veterinarian," she answered proudly.
"That is a very noble and honorable profession," said the priest, "where does he practice his profession?"
"Well," she said, "he has one cat house in Kansas City and another one in Dallas, Texas."

Subject: Walk with Pride
An Irishman moves to the USA, finally attends his first baseball game.
The first batter approached the batters' box, took a few swings and then hits a double. Everyone was on their feet screaming "Run," Run."
The next batter hits a single the Irishman listened as the crowd again cheered "RUN, RUN."
The Irishman enjoyed the game and began screaming with the fans. The fifth batter came up and four balls went by. The umpire called "walk" and the batter started his slow trot to first base.
The Irishman stood up and screamed, "R-R-Run ye *******, run!"
The people around him began laughing. Embarrassed, the Irishman sat back down. A friendly fan noted the man's embarrassment, leaned over and explained.
"He can't run he's got four balls.
The Irishman stood up and screamed, "Walk with pride, lad!"

Evenin' y'all. Well I'm out of my funk I was in on WIW. Seems all the water I've guzzled the last few days has helped. As of this morning, I'm down 3.5 lbs since Wed.:D Of course, my weight being up helped me shy away from all the goodies at the workshop. Went today to get school supplies for the kids.:dizzy: I hate shopping anyway, but when it's crowded I'm really not happy. This weekend is tax free on some items (is it that way everywhere or just TX?) so WalMart was really busy. We got everything we needed for school along with clothes and shoes so we're set, but broke.
ZANNE: Sorry to hear about your puter problems. Glad you're back.
DAISY: Welcome to our world.:) I've been doing SB for a little over a year and have lost about 15 lbs with 10 more to go. I've fallen off the wagon a few times or I'm sure I would be at my goal by now. All in all tho, this is the easiest WOE I've tried and truly do feel so much better when I stay OP. Glad to have you with us.
HEARTMOM: Sorry to hear Boogie is sick. Hope he's feeling better. WTG on your shopping.
FRUIT: Love your new baby.
BETH: School already????? I only have one week till inservice starts, then the kids go back the 19th. I am not ready.:( Hope the pill works for you. Just about anything is better than surgery.

From a visiting Pastor's sermon last Sunday:
There are two kinds of theology: cat theology and dog theology.
You buy a cat, take him home, feed him, love on him, play with him, buy him stuff. The cat looks around and says: "You give me everything and meet all my needs. I must be god!"
You buy a dog, take him home, feed him, love on him, play with him, buy him stuff. The dog looks around and says: "You give me everything and meet all my needs. You must be god!"

Wow I can't believe how much I have missed. I haven't been on the boards since Tuesday Chat. I'm still recovering from this nasty sinus infection but I have meds now so I should be better soon. Well we will be leaving for vacation tommorrow night. We are going to a resort for 3 days . So I won't be able to post . I sure will miss you guys.
Bob- I'm praying for a speedy recovery for your mom. I'm glad the procedure went well.

Well I'm so glad it's the weekend, no dropping off or picking up kiddos at school :) The little one starts Monday, and he can't wait... I can't either, I'll be glad to get some SLEEP!!!
DAISY - WELCOME!! I woke up one morning and decided to try SB, that was in January and I'm still going. I lost 30 pounds in the first 4 months, and I seem to have gotten myself stuck there with various things (change in eating habits, schedule, eating some no-no's... etc.) It works great and I've never felt better. I really need to get my butt back in gear and drop the other 30!!!
Well Y'all... TOM is here, not yet with a vengence, but I sure feel it coming. It was horrible at work last night trying to get my stuff done in pain. Of course I have that Dr's appt. Monday because I wasn't supposed to start yet. How crazy. Oh well, I'll still go in for a consult.
I gotta get off this computer and get some housework done! Laundry has multiplied and I still have nothing to wear ;) I'll check in again later!!! :)

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!!
Rainy over here on the WEST COAST OF FLA...that's a good thing though...we need rain so badly. I'm taking advantage and getting the house cleaned a bit. The NEWLYWEDS are coming for dinner and my Nephew has requested an old fashioned country dinner of MEAT LOAF, FRESH GREEN BEANS w/POTATOES COOKED ON TOP, FRESH TOMATOES, FRIED CORN, and CORN BREAD
Now, out of that, I'll be eating the meatloaf, beans and tomatoes!
OF COURSE....he also wants BANANA PUDDING!!
MERCY...thanks for the comment for my Mom...she still has one more surgery to go next Friday, so I'll ask for those prayers to continue...
Sounds like the SO FLA bunch are really having fun...Hope they have good luck at the yard sales today.
Back to my cleaning...Have a good afternoon all!!! :D

Hello all! I did a quick scan of the week's boards--WOW, busy busy.
This will be short as there is now way to respond to everyone. I am staying Op so far--it's not been too difficult--except when my brother forced me to drink that gin and tonic the other night.
This weekend is a sales tax free shopping weeking on clothing and computers in NC--so I went out and did my part to strengthen our economy yesterday. Got shoes (walking and dress), two skirts, a pair of navy slacks, and pair of capris, two bras a nightgown, and a blouse. everything is falling into the 20-22 range which means the weight gain has not gotten out of control. Hopefully it is reversing itself now. We'll see when I get home.
I hope everyone is doing well!
BOB, GATOR, and MISSY--I do not miss the visor man--but will miss playing UF after this year. Our first game is on a monday of all things (Sept 2) and then we turn around and play again on Saturday the 7th--who the heck made that schedule? My football season starts on the 24th when NC State plays its first game.
Heartmom--I looked at Boogie's web page--what a sweetie! He will remain in my thoughts and prayers.
BOB--hope your mom is well on the mend! I hope she is being a good patient for you. Belle is home with a cat sitter. I am ready to get home to see her and make sure she is ok--although I'm sure the sitter would have called if anything is wrong. I miss her!
Deb--I look forward to talking when I get back. I get back very late Sunday night so maybe one night next week!
Jenn--good luck with the surgery! We have the same birthday--Sept. 3rd!
OK--got to go do some more vacationing
Talk to y'all when I get home!

HiedieHo All!
Nothing happening, just checking in! I have been searching for car rental for my trip. Limited by Milford, no rentals there have to go to Middletown, NY which is okay. The only one I found so far that matches up to Neptune and Milford, is Avis and their nearest places are Freehold, NJ and Middletown, NY. I basically only need a car over night, but the site keeps telling there are no rates available for my times. Thought I'd give it a rest. May rent for a week and see how that goes then I wouldn't have to rely on my sister for transportation as she works. Life is never easy.
MUSIC: Glad you are funk free!
DEB: I'm green with envy! Garage sales and you too! How lucky can one get?
MERCY: Hope the meds help so you can enjoy your vacation!
BETH: I see all you gals with TOM problems and I'm reminded how grateful I am not to have to worry about it anymore. Hope the consult will help.
BOB: Prayers continue. Meatloaf is one of my favorite things, green beans and tomatoes to..........can I come to dinner?
FILLISE: Bad bro! Did he hold a gun to your head? Maybe it's bad Susan! I know trhe feeling, I keep hoping someone will make me drink a Southern Comfort, but they are all "drys" in this household! Darn!! Glad you have been OP. It is not hard to do, as you know, but somehow slips do happen!
Take care all.

Wow SEF, you are going to be in my neck of the woods. I live in Monroe, NY, just about 20 min. from Middletown. Since joining this board I've been sort of lurking, learning. I'm new to this whole Sugar Buster thing and am hoping to learn from you guys. Sort of forced into it with my hypoglycemia acting up. Been pretty much sugar free the past two weeks. Hoping to keep it up. I still get HG episodes. Just learning what I can or can't tolerate. But Sugar Busters is definitely helping.

Hi gang,
I love reading everyone's posts. Inspiring and yet fun. Hearing about your daily lives is very interesting. I can't believe the schools in the south are starting so early. We complain up here about school starting before Labor Day. There is no a/c in our schools and the kids and teachers are really miserable.
I've been out getting some school shopping done. I've never heard of any tax free shopping. Illinois is far behind. This school year, 3 of my 5 kids are starting brand new schools, so it is a very stressful at times. I worked at Market Day yesterday. It is a food coop that raises money for schools.
Today, I'm heading off to visit my parents and then bring home Chinese food for lunch. I've yet to find any legal eating with that food. That's ok. I think I'll fry up a burger or a Boca italian sausage and put it on a TJ WW bun.
Had a dream last night that my doctor measured my waist, found a 2" difference from last time, and proclaimed SB a great way to eat. A little subconscious thing going on, I'm sure.
It's hotter than heck here. I have to remind myself a lot about how much I do not like driving in snow/ice.
Beth-I am also dealing with 'female issues'. I'm glad you are doing some research about it. It empowers you. I was also (grudgingly) put on BCP but only stayed on it for 2 months because I did not like how I felt. I was on Alesse. I have heard about the one you are going on. Right now, I decided to use a lot of the advice that Dr. Christiane Northrup says: 2% progesterone cream, soy, flaxseed, herbs. If that doesn't work, I'll try Loestrin or Yasmin. But, I don't have endometriosis like you do. Almost everyone I know does well on BCP, but don't be afraid to try another one if it isn't going well. Good luck to you.

HiedieHo All!
MPINKHAM: When you first came on board I don't know why I didn't connect with Monroe. I know where you are! Used to go to Museum Village for one thing. Living in Milford, PA, we used to go to Middletown for "real" shopping.......The Orange Plaza and then later the Galleria. My DD was on the Y swim team. You bring back memories. The only reason I will be in Middletown this time is to drop off a car rental. So far Avi is the only company I have found on the net that has facilities both near where I will be. SB is wonderful! Many of us have had our sugar, triglyceride and cholesterol numbers improve on this plan. Plus, of course, we have lost weight.
BOB: You must be a good nurse so have such a good patient!
GYM: When I moved here I found it hard to get use to the school schedule. They have so many breaks here. They go to school on some holidays that PA had off. They even get off here for Mardi Gras! Of course, in PA they have the first day of deer season off and then two weeks later doe day off! When I moved to PA from NJ that was something that shocked me, a day to go hunting! You want HOT? Move to LA!
A little slow board here today. Will try to check in later.

Sunday check in...
BOB- Curious thing about the wee puppy..she is perfect! Hard to believe I know but I began crate training her the day she arrived and she has been going to the *potty* outside when I take her out and has not soiled in her crate once! She has been playing with our cat and they look like they will be fun pals...they are the same size! She runs around the house now and has made it her home it seems.
ZANNE- Bummer about your WATP dvd but once you get that sorted out just start it again..they are great exercise! I am starting again on Monday because my knee is doing pretty good now. We do have a holiday Monday...they call it New Brunswick Day. They also celebrate *Armed Forces Day* on Monday as well and the army puts on a really fantastic show with all the gear. The kids get to ride in the tanks and try out some equipment. The kids are fascinated by the *army dudes* and seem to just eat it up. What is it called in Ontario..I forget! But I know it wasn't Ontario day!
SEF- Loved your jokes.
DAISY- Welcome to SugarBusters! I have done Atkins and SB and I think SB is much better. Healthier and a more realistic way to eat and lose weight.
Okay..gotta run. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Hi everyone,
I had a great time at the Korn concert on Thursday. We had some of the best seats in the place! Definately the best seats I've ever had. I have another concert to go to this Thursday. This is shaping up to be one of my best summers ever in terms of entertainment.
For the first time since I've been on SB I "cheated" with a couple small chocolate donuts in the middle of the night. Although it is normal for me to get up several times a night *sigh* I had been able to control my night eating compulsion, or at least limit it, to healthy foods if any at all. Over the last week, though, I have found myself really being tempted by some of the foods I normally wouldn't give a second thought to. Those donuts were not worth it.... they tasted bad and the following morning I woke up feeling sluggish and had a crappy taste in my mouth. Those donuts were the first chocolate of any kind for me in over 8 months! Now I just remind myself how crappy I felt whenever I get a desire for foods I shouldn't have.
Anyway, my weight is still holding around 177 or so, but I'm going to try hard over the next week to really limit my carbs and get some cardio in. My new goal is to get under 175. I find that small goals are much more easier for me to focus on then if I look at the big picture and get discouraged. I'm thinking to change my goal weight also. My main goal has always been to lose my spare tire, and I don't see that happening with my initial goal weight of 160.
Time will tell, but for now I'm taking it one day at a time - one meal at a time. If I happen to mess up one day or meal that moment of weakness does not counteract all the good I've done over the past 8 months, so I refuse to feel bad about it. I acknowledge the slip, learn from it, then move on down the road. :) I hope all of you are doing well. Bye for now!
