OnMyWay great job on tossing out the chips! For me, I force myself not to buy kettle corn. Definitely a trigger, so good! Good luck with all the lunches; I agree re: my own cooking -- always healthier, almost always tastier! I have 1 lunch out this week, that's it.

CruiseCAT too funny about your count down... DH and I often fantasize about where we'll live come retirement, and here you are, practically there. I'm envious! Do you ever watch House Hunters International? Fun show for dreaming...

DMC2009 good luck on Thursday... Like so many others, I know how nerve-wracking the callback is; there was a period of 4 - 5 years where I was getting called back every year! It's like a little brush with mortality... But in each case, it's been nothing, and chances are, you will have the same experience. Do let us know!

PresMaggie Thanks for popping by; don't worry about lurking -- we all go through that... Just come back when you are ready. I'm glad you are loving your new job! How have the boys adjusted?

Marie Great job on powering through your to-do list; sounds like yesterday was quite the day!

Patchwork Good job on the exercise yesterday; it sounds like it was quite the workout!

Hydra How was your weekend. Nice wine? Good movies?

LambChop Congrats on completing week 1 of C25k! And on your salad bar excursion... It sounds like you are doing great!

WeightLossWanted Enjoy your birthday tomorrow!

OnMyWay I hear you re: the groove. When you figure it out, be sure to tell me; I could use the help! In the meantime, I'm just taking each day as it comes, and making a commitment to be healthy that day.

Edited to add: Oh, and as for me... We had a nice weekend. The weather was gorgeous, and we got to work on the pumpkins outside. Carving them is always a lot of fun, and each year it seems to get easier... For those of you with kids, at what age did you start entrusting your kids to do the actual knife work? I'm thinking maybe next year my older son, who will be 11 then, should do his own pumpkin... Right now, they just get the fun of designing their jack-o-lantern, but I do all the cutting work.

We LOVE House Hunters International; many of our "building" ideas have come from that show. I just hope our area is never featured. There is a little place in Belize (Ambergris Caye) that has been on several times that is very close to our property in Mexico. If you look at the map below we are just north of Xcalak.

EDITED TO ADD:
For some reason you get an error message if you click on the above link but it does work it you cut & paste.

I am finally almost back to my lowest weight since beginning my journey. For those struggling hang in there, it will click. Mack's ankle was bothering him yesterday after our hike on Saturday so we didn't walk. I thought about getting on the treadmill but just couldn't do it, I had zero motivation. Not sure he will be ready today so I will force myself to get on this AM. All day yesterday I felt guilty for taking the day off.

Well I better get the dogs out for their morning play and then get to my workout.

Maggie - Hi, nice to meet you, I'm Deb. I'll bet it's been quite a change to go back to working full time. What do you do? Glad you're enjoying it....that always helps!

Cruise - we use frontline - just a little liquid you put between their shoulders, it's a monthly - we pick it up on pet meds I think (husband does it) -- the pics were beautiful!

HA! Who's counting on the move...I'm the same way right now. I'm planning for Florida, and my goal is 3+ years, where my husband is thinking more like 5...boo!

Marie - hope you got more stuff on your list done, but I love being a bum some days!!! Hope your teams won

ICU - chips are a trigger for me too, have to have them out of the house - I also ended up eating out a few times, and man...glad i got salads - but I can see how all those Non-salad meals added up!

Penguin - what blaster workout? never heard of it...

New Leaf - Fun pumpkin decorating...the pumpkin patches around here were PACKED yesterday!
--
Doing day 3/week 1 of my C25k today - and just sticking to my plan. I weigh in at the doctor's tomorrow....I saw a bigger loss the first 2 weeks, and i understand it slows down now - that's fine. I'm in it for the long haul

I have a Disney trip coming up at the end of November, so I'm mentally preparing myself for where and what to eat, and at the resort I'll be at, Caribbean Beach, then have a nice path around the lake I can walk each morning...before I walk all day at the parks, ha...walking is never an issue there. You're on your feet all day. (me and 15yo son)

LambChop call me an old curmudgeon, but I *refuse* to go to the packed pumpkin and apple places around here. I have no desire to go to a "festival" and pay money to take a hayride to the fields. We have a lovely little farm that just puts their pumpkins out on carts with the prices already marked on the bottom. They are about a mile down the road from the biggest festival-type farm, and I am so happy they are there. In and out, yay, and a great selection.

ICU, too funny on the impervious to gravity girls. :p Oh, how I envy you!!! And yes, I like that I look immature in the picture. Mature is just scary! :sp:

Cruise, OK I get it. Mexico is your retirement. Counting is good. Numbers are good. Never feel guilty for taking a day off – only if that day turns into a week and into a month and into a year. One day break is good. :D

Newleaf, my kids are 23 & 24 – still carve their pumpkins for them. :o Just kidding. I think it was after they demonstrated a long period of time being really careful. Pumpkins can be tough and a sharp knife can slip. If next year is the goal, start letting him do stuff now on easier stuff. Maybe then you won’t have a panic attack at pumpkin time.

Lambchop, so you’re a Florida fan??? Where in FL do you want to retire. I love Vero Beach and Boca Raton. We went to Daytona for the Feb Nascar race last year and I loved, loved, loved their beach. The race was boring – aka Cruise’s Nascar nap. I actually left and went back to the hotel and watched a movie. :o

Todays doggie walk went better than most lately. All dogs participated (Kody was left home yesterday because he’s being an obstinate a$$) and they didn’t do bad. I ordered all for the non-pull harness’s my trainer recommended. I look forward to that. I also listened to my ipod for the first time since Sasha joined our pack. I thought that my irritation might be due to the lack of music. Tomorrow I’m going back to listening to the audiobooks. The music worked so if I can listen to a book, maybe the transition to four huskies will be complete at least in the morning walk routine.

So why is it some days staying in the calorie range is like torture and others it’s not possible to meet it??? :?: Yesterday I wrote that I was low on cals and it would be no problem to fix that. Apparently it was. I ended at 1150 cals. I just couldn’t convince myself to eat. Part of my brain wants to carry the extra 250 into today so I can have 1650. But alas, my conscience would never allow that. I’m too rigid but I’m pretty sure that’s why I’m successful. At some point I need to fix that. To say the least, I petrified of changing what I'm doing for fear if I slip I'll tumble off a cliff. Perhaps in the next millennium.

Cruise? I'll be there from NOv 24 (get in very late) to the 30th! Where are you staying? I'll be at WDW at Caribbean Beach. My 15yo son and I do an annual trip to Thanksgiving...think this is our 4th trip at this time of year.

New Leaf - I hear you - but more than anything, I avoid the crowds! I don't go to them anymore...my boys are older. We did do a corn maze about 2 years ago - but the other stuff isn't my thing. We were out for a long drive and passed a few.

Marie- we'll probably stay outside of Orlando close to the Disney area. The plan is to buy a condo for a vacation home for 2-3 years, then retire into it..downsize from where we are now (NJ). Disney is senior friendly for hiring, so in case we need something down the road to fall back on - that's there, but we just like that there's so much to do there. It's central, and lots of new beaches to explore within 1-2 hours drive.

How do you measure for harnesses? We think we are going to get a harness for our Jack...he's been a master at slipping out of his collar, and even if we make it more snug, it seems to loosen on him. The other two are fine.

We went to the dog park today, and inbetween throwing the toy for Somebody to chase {<----} I did some walk/jog intervals. I seem to get getting better at the jogging part! I left my HRM/cal counter on and on the way home I burned as many calories while I was up and moving. Interesting.

Sounds like you all had a good weekend!

Lambchop, This is the workout I did. http://www.collagevideo.com/workout-video/10-minute-solution-belly-butt-and-thigh-blasters-5721 I have a different loop from another workout that seems more resistant so I'll use that one next time.

We have rented a 6BR house about 3 miles from WDW for the entire family; my two sisters & spouses, my nephew, and Karl, Brooke & Noah. Should be interesting this will be the first time we have ALL been together.... EVER. Many have never even met. What can I say, my family is just a little dysfunctional.

My sister Pam and I are taking a cruise before and I really wish I had scheduled it AFTER. Oh well, I'm sure we will all be fine; if not everyone will have a vehicle to get away if necessary.

Cruise - oh fun! Good luck with everyone together...At least you all have cars so you can get a break. I do a 3bdrm condo with my son in the summer and the extra space is SO WORTH it, but we love staying on site too. My husband and I may rent a place in Feb.

Penguin- thanks...I've worked with those bands at the trainer before. I guess she incorporated pilates stuff in with the other work, because I've used the rings and ball too. When I get farther along in my working out, I'll look more into it for another option.

Good evening!
I've decided to take things one day at a time. I planned out my eating for the day and journaled every bite. Right now I am at 1250 calories for the day. I'm full and planning to ride the bike as soon as I am done here.

All this talk of beaches and warm places has me envious. It's cold and rainy here AGAIN! AARGH.

Newleaf, Have you tried letting you kids use the little pumpkin saws?

DMC, Sending  for your US. I am also on the callback mammo list. Next year I am asking my Dr to just order the diagnostic to start with to avoid the aggravation and stress.

Well got a call a few minutes before 5pm telling me that the GYN didn't get the authorization from my PCP for my biopsy tomorrow. Seems my PCP totally dropped the ball and didn't even submit it. They want to reschedule for after the 3rd but that is getting close to my TOM. I'm torn.... I really wanted this done before I left on the 12th but don't want it too close to when I leave. At this point I will probably put it off until early December.

OMW - One day at a time is a good way to go, really it's all we have.

Well I'm going to go watch more of my "Skins".

Had a great weekend away with the ladies...Got a 2 1/2 mile walk in on the boardwalk overlooking the ocean...I could so live there! lol Did my best to stay OP but the drinks weren't the best of choices....
On a good note, I went to my WW meeting early Sat. morning and I was down another 2.8 pounds!
Finished off the weekend by seeing a Frank Sinatra tribute...was a great time!

Hope your all doing well...Grats to those who lost! Keep up the good work!

Add-on workout: I did three sections of the 10MS Quick Sculpt Pilates which comes with a small inflatable ball. I did Total Body Toner which I hated. Its mostly lay on your back and lift both legs or have them in tabletop; not my favorite exercises. Secondly, I did Strength and Flexibility this seems to be the back section. This segment had a series of exercises where you are laying on your back and you are balanced with the ball under your butt, I found these very effective. I ended with the Standing segment which doesn't use the ball but had a lot of leg circles; one of my favorites. I previewed Bun and Thigh and Core both of which looked good. As to the ball, I wasn't very impressed, however I don't think I had it inflated enough, I have a child's playball I will try next time. In some of the exercises the ball is placed between your ankles or calves so I thought I could use my Pilates circle.

My eating hasn't been great for the past few days. I'm trying to crack down on that but its almost TTOM and I'm PMSing, especially this morning, I had Hubby and April running for cover. I figured out that if I eat about half what Hubby takes I'm doing good. While I still write down what I eat in my food/exercise journal, I feel I need to get back in the habit of logging my eating on Fitday or something. I did so well while I was doing that but it seems like such a hassle; especially if I eat a casserole or a mix of foods. I end up logging the meat, cheese, pasta, veggies seperately because they don't have anything close to what I'm eating.

Hopefully, the glasses come in tomorrow. Please, please!!!!!

Cruise, That stinks about your biopsy. I am lucky that I need no precert with my plan.

TLC, great loss! Shows you can still live and lose weight too!

Have a great day everyone!

OnMyWay- cold and rainy here today too! One day at a time is a great plan. That's what I do also - or I get overwhelmed thinking about how far I have to go.

Cruise - what a PITA - sorry they dropped the ball on you

Giv - Yeah, long boardwalk there! I was down there in September for a couple of days....it's a nice walk on the boardwalk. Congrats on the loss at WW!!!

Penguin- hope those glasses come in all ready! I'm bad about journaling - same thing...just finding something that matches sometimes. Hope the PMS subsides soon and you're feeling like yourself again

---

As for me, I go to the doc today for weigh in, B12 shot and body measurements, etc...Just trying to put one foot in front of the other. While I was ok'd to have caffeine (certain amount), I think I need to let it go - I think I do better when I don't have it at all. I'm a Diet Coke addict, but I've pretty much made a total switch to Crystal Light at this point....and think I can let go of the DC.

Giv -WTG on the 2+ lbs. You are doing GREAT!!

Patch - You are killing those workouts. As for PMS I try to leave room in the calorie budget for a special treat in the evenings. Last night I had popcorn with 1T real butter and salt. I'm one of those that if I stay within my budget and most of my choices are "good" I'm OK with that.

So today it was so quiet here I ventured away from my comfort zone (40 somethings) and found that many here on 3FC are VERY STRICT. I was surprised by the "I NEVER will I eat THIS or THAT again" statements.

Yes, a total PITA. At this point I have decided to put it off until after my return. I need to call and make sure the referral doesn't expire after 30 days or something silly like that.

Hi, Lu - welcome! you'll find what you need at this site.

Cindy - incompetence is rampant. Sorry that it came to roost in your appointments, esp something of that nature. Love your new avatar, by the way - you look positively frisky!

lambchop - hope the weigh-in went well! I know you've been working hard and the payoff ought to be impressive!

OMW - I see that ticker under 180 ... you are BACK ON THE PATH, baby!!!

patch- I have plenty of days that I have to estimate. I like your strategy of half the spouse's intake - that's probably a really good rule of thumb. Will be wishing for your glasses!

Tired. Aggravated. Kid is sick-ish (sinus crud); spouse in MX. 20th anniv tomorrow. Don't go there, chicks - the marriage is terminally ill and has been that way for years. Just rollin' on that midlife crisis like a dog on a dead thing, y'know? I promise I'll emerge from the cocoon a better butterfly. What I'm NOT doing is eating for temporary relief. And that's all good. :)

Lambchop, for a harness, it depends which on you’re interested for where you measure. Take a look online and the websites will guide you (I measured per the place I purchased them from).

OMW, I don’t think any of us can do it more than one day at a time. To succeed this is a lifetime battle. My past failures was because when I lost the weight I let myself revert back to the old habits. Before I started this time, I made an oath to myself that it was for life or not to lose it. I made the oath and I’m to guilt ridden not to keep it.

Cruise, ok that insurance stuff stinks. I will never understand why the insurance companies dictate how a dr. treats someone. Funny on the strictness people put on themselves. I will always eat anything I ever want to eat. I just make room for it. The only thing I’m strict with is staying in my calorie range. OK, that’s not even true. I’m strict that I have to log everything I eat in my iphone. The calories stay in range just based on that.

GivTLC, great job on the 2.8 pounds. :carrot:That is awesome, And I really envy a boardwalk ocean walk. That would be so nice right now!

Lu, welcome to thread. It is a great place for support and camaraderie.

ICU, hugs on the anniversary and terminal marriage. That stinks. Is that why the turtle is still the avatar? :?: We need your face chickie!!!! Or at least change it to a butterfly. I hope your child feels better.

I had an interesting – I had to go to a conference on the other side of the mountain (btw, I loved the movie when I was a kid). It’s an 80 mile drive each way. Yesterday it was rainy and cold. Low of 28 – that means frozen roads and snow. The pass had about 3” of snow and I had to put my Jeep in 4WD. I hate driving in winter conditions. The way home it was snowing too but the roads weren’t icy, just slushy. On the good side, I was able to return the clothes to Kohl’s and not pay shipping. That’s always good. I got the 1.5 mile doggie walk in before I left and did the elliptical afterwards. And I’m up to 2 days in a row for minor weightlifting. I really hate weightlifting. I decided after the elliptical, since my muscles are warmed up, I would do the benchpress, legpress and calf lifting/press thingie. No more or I won’t stick with it. Only one 10 set rep. I’ll do it 5 days a week even though I know that’s not the “proper” way to do it. I figure a little more often is better than nothing. We’ll see how my resolve lasts as I really do not like it. Boring….

Good Morning friends! Another wet day here in the Midwest. Rain expected this AM and then maybe some sun this afternoon followed by more rain tomorrow! DH informed me last night we have had rain 25 of the last 28 days! Somehow I didn't need to know that!

Ended my day yesterday at 1450 calories. Did 40 minutes on the bike while watching Biggest Loser then did some reps with an 8 lb. ball.

Thansk everyone for your continued support. I'm really working to get back on track and to finish what I started. I appreciate all of you and your comments!

Marie, your post about snow and slush makes me feel guilty for complaining about rain. I hate driving in bad weather!

ICU, Hope DS is feeling better. Sorry about your anniversary. Makes me more grateful for what I have.

Lu21, Welcome to our thread. Keep coming back, this is a great group!

Cruise, saw your before and after in another thread. You should post it here. You are looking great!

Lambchop, I gave up Diet Coke and switched to Crystal Light last year. I miss it sometimes and treat myself every now and then. If I drink one now in the evening I'm up half the night!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Cruise- about so many being strict. I need a plan to work in my lifestyle. If I have so many restrictions - well, that just overwhelms me. I will never have a "never" list, but I will have a "it's safer to avoid certain things list"

Lu - welcome and congrats on a good start

ICU- hope you have a nice day regardless - Not eating for relief...THAT'S something to celebrate!

Marie - thanks for the scoop (harness), Great job getting the walk in, and woohoo on returning the stuff to Kohls. Snow and Ice -- trying to block that stuff out-- so not ready for that kind of stuff yet.

OnMyWay - rainy day here too today - 25 of the last 28 days, yuck! we had a month like that this year and I was so bummed out...the weather can really affect my mood
----

Morning all - only lost 1/4 pound this week, but based on her stats, 2 liters of water. I'm totally okay with that - I know I'm making good choices...and my mind is in the right place, which is half the battle for me.

I'm ready to start week 2 of the c25k, and even made a delicious veggie stir fry last night-- which blew me away that I enjoyed it so much! I get excited when I try something new and love it...my tastes are toatlly changing!

With snow & rain for many I guess I shouldn't complain about our wind and cooler temps.

Becky - You know that we are here for you.

Here is the B&A OMW talked about.

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e265/123BrindlePack/BA.jpg

Here is an easy "How To"

I use the following:

http://www.lunapic.com/editor/

Add the "before" picture then click "click here to add more files" add "after" picture, upload both. Then change Anamate Images to Raw Collage Pictures. "Crop" entire combo and then right click and save to your hard drive.

I then use http://photobucket.com/ to host my picture and link it into my message.

Wow, CruiseCAT what a motivating B&A -- you have done a great job, congratulations!! I can't believe they messed up with your biopsy tomorrow...

I agree with Marie. Enough of the turtle!! Hopefully you'll be able to take yourself down off that post soon...

OnMyWay One day at a time, that's all you can do.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I plan to nominate myself as the poster child for What Happens When Nobody Works on the Relationship. A very awkward, difficult dialogue needs to take place, and I guess it's going to fall in my lap to start it.

Cindy - your before/after (or should we say "during" instead of after?) is an AMAZING transformation. These pics are the sort that inspire future Chickies! You never did mention Mack's reaction to your dress, by the way ... ;) Too risque to tell?

Heidi and Marie, yes, I promise to come down off the post soon. I have a hair appointment on Friday and I'll have DS10 take a fresh picture of me in something flattering (won't be my swimsuit!).

I really enjoyed SuperSize Me too! DS10 learned a lot from it, and doesn't hesitate to whip out a few facts for friends that insist that a cheeseburger and fries is a good meal. :)

OMW and Lambchop - we're not having rain on THAT scale, but it did come exactly at the wrong time and knocked all the beautiful leaves off the trees. Now we get to rake a bunch of wet mats ... yeee-uck! Not the best part of a Michigan fall, for sure.

40 mins of 10MS Knockout Body {kickboxing}, I did the four cardio sections but not the abs, LOL, I think I've done enough abs for a while! I had to modify the workout for space and high impact but did fairly well.

Hubby is trying to go cold turkey on Coke. he's normall about a 3-20oz a day guy. He's done this once before and went about 6 months without a Coke. Go Hubby!

Cruise, Great B&A shots! I've decided to print out two befores and two 'afters' from last years weight loss, then hang them in the kitchen. Maybe they will motivate me. I've been having a little trouble with motivation recently, but I know I don't want to go back there.

OMW, for once its not raining here! Hubby and friend are out working on the porch! I'm glad I got replaced with 'friend'

ICU, still no word on the glasses! Its been almost a month! I read somewhere that as I woman I only need to eat 1/3 of what Hubby does. EEEgads, they are probably right, and Hubby probably eats more than he needs too, but I thought I'd start with 1/2 of his portions.

Lu, glad to have you join us!

Hubby just dragged me outside to look at the new posts on the front porch. He also told me he fixed a small uneveness {it was crooked!} in the porch roof. The porch is beginning to look nice.

ICU - sorry things are difficult :hug::hug:

Patchwork - good job on the workouts! Do you feel that your stamina has improved?

newleaf - isn't it amazing what fast food can do to us? I know that I really feel it when I eat it. Because of my food intolerances, I cook most meals from scratch and I sure feel all the chemicals when I eat fast food.

Cruise - you look amazing!!! It's hard to believe that those are pictures of the same person.

lambchop - way to go!

Onmyway - keep up the good work! It will pay off.

Marie - have you tried doing weightlifting while listening to really "pumped" music? I find it helps. Mind you, I love doing the weights - guess I'm a little "odd"

Lu21 - Welcome!!!

So I'm still at the same weight. I'm exercising lots, but there seems to be a part of me that doesn't want to lose weight. I know it has to do with feeling powerless during a time when I was smaller. Strangely enough, my body is feeling really strong these days and I can actually do full pushups now. I hope that feeling stronger will eventually overcome my inner fear of being weak while thin. I had years of therapy in my 30's to deal with the aftereffects of my childhood and I know that I need to be patient with myself and eventually I'll work through this.

Due to another thread here at 3FC I realized I wasn't motivated to lose weight. I want to lose weight but when I looked for a reason/motivation/goal I couldn't find one. Nothing I could look at and think I'm doing this because _______ or I will be ______ if I lose the weight. Obviously, I would be thinner and probably more healthy, but neither of these reasons seem enough to get me off the couch to exercise of keep me from indulging in that last snack of the day. I'm still floundering around but I'm getting closer. I think this is one of those "if you don't set a goal, you will never reach it" things. But the fear is if I set the goal and don't reach it I will be depressed {eat!} and feel more like a failure than I do now for regaining the weight. Sharing your motivations might just help me find mine!

Maggie, Since I took such a long break this summer, I do feel I have lost some cardio endurance, which was never my strong point anyway, LOL. I guess that would be one of those 'goal things". Great job on the full pushups! That is something I would like to be able to do.

Lambchop, too funny – just goes to show we’re all different. Weights are icky and elliptical is wonderful in my view and opposite in yours. :D Good thing there’s lots of exercise choices out there. And WTG on another pound vanishing! :carrot:

OMW, I too hate winter driving. I never minded it in Minnesota where they know how to take care of winter roads. On Oregon, ice and snow is just ok and learn to live with it mentality. Driving here is scary. :?:

Cruise, I’m going to take your advice and just do the leg press and calf press MWF. No more bench presses as it irritates a weak facet joint in my back. I’ll go back to the resistance bands PT had me do for the facet joint years ago. For now, no upper body except my doggie walks. And wow, another weight vote. Am I in the minority here??? And holey moley your before and current are amazing. :carrot::carrot::carrot:I’d never guess you to be the same person. Congrats on such an amazing journey!

ICU, I’ll be looking forward to the new avatar on Friday or Saturday. And hugs  on the difficult discussion.

Penguin interesting way to monitor your food intake. ½ of hubby’s food is probably a great idea. I hope that in later posts you say your glasses have arrived. They have taken way too long. :(

Pres, I completely understand making your own food. I never know when they’ll stuff soy or peanuts into a restaurant dish. Heck, Butterball injects a soy solution in their turkeys. So I don’t like going out. If nothing else, our food problems make it easier to control the calories. Right??? And boo on another weight vote!

I am so thankful the work week isn’t almost over. I can’t even take 3FC breaks at this point because I’m drowning in state reports. There are times I hate my job and I’m a little worried those times are coming more often. At least I have my haven – my home with the most wonderful husky pack in the world. :D And in maybe a week + a couple days, I’ll have my DH back. Even better it will be without the next month him leaving. That’ll be so nice.

Marie - as an ex-smoker I still find cardio work difficult. Even as a kid (overweight) I couldn't do cardio. I hated having to to the mile for the Presidential Fitness Testing..... HATED IT. I was like 4'8" and weighed 135.

Well Mack and I are off to Deep Creek after it warms up a bit; the low this AM was 34. The high is suppose to be in the mid 70's; perfect for the hike down to the hot springs.

Have a GREAT weekend ladies.

BTW - Anyone else up for a "National Freedom" day challenge, November 1st - February 1st?

Penguin - -- I'm doing this because - I'm tired of being fat, I'm getting older and want to ensure better health, and dammit, I want to find my sexy once again. I would love to look in the mirror and go...yeah, nice....i'm happy with what I see.

I hope you find your motivation.

Marie- the elliptical is like a slow death to me...when working with a trainer, i'd do 30mins cardio, then 30 with weights...i always did the elliptical first, because I HATED it - i worked up from 7 to 15 mins, but i always chose the treadmill, walking lunges, the bike, anything but that damn machine! LOL -- then it would be time to lift, and the clouds lifted...yeah, the fun time.

Not sure if this helps, but if you're feeling it in your neck when benching, have you tried moving on teh bench...slide up some? it's easy to lay down and not have the bar even with our arms, chest...have someone check your form

Cruise- Cardio, not my thing either, but i know last time i did the c25k - totally changed, because my lung capacity changes...that's why i wanted to do it again...no matter how much i did the other stuff, it didn't do what running did for me, lung wise.

Enjoy your hike...mid 70's is perfect! What's National Freedom Day challenge? I'm looking for something, so I'd love to hear the details...

--
Today I have a walk/run...middle of week 2 (c25k) -- then pick up my son for the weekend (15yo)

I'm trying to move more - get up and down more - just generally get into the idea and habit that getting up and down from my desk (work at home, here at my desk) a lot is a good thing. It's too easy to sit here for long periods..so i'm trying to break that up some.

Good Morning Ladies!

Wow yet another week has gone by and another month! sheesh where does the time go? Sorry I have not been posting. The beginning of the week was crazy busy with work and kids. As much as I tried to avoid it...I came down with a cold :( Am home again today and all I want to do is sleep! I have been able to stay OP but have missed my walks the last 2 nights. I have my WW weigh in meeting in the morning and am hoping to see even a wee loss on the scale. I have lost over 8 pounds for Oct...so I'm a happy camper :carrot:

patchworkpenguin: your a machine with all these work outs you do! You should be very proud! I get tired just reading about them LoL Setting goals is a wonderful thing...even if it's not accomplished at least you tried!! We are always so hard on ourselves...don't ever give up!

CruiseCAT: Those B&A pics are amazing...your an inspiration! Rock on with your badself ;)
What's "National Freedom" day challenge? Do tell! lol

Lu21: Welcome to a great group! Grats on your weight loss so far...that's awesome! I also do WW and am loving it so far. Although I'm not big on counting points atm...I do journal everything I eat. Look forward to getting to know you :)

lambchop: Grats on the loss...Your doing great! Sounds like your workouts are great too! Gawd I need to get with it! hehehe

Marie: Hang in there at work, keeping busy makes your days go by faster right? I wish I had access to a gym so I could really work on the strength training...Right now I just use 3 and 5 pd free weights (I have been slacking in that dept. but I'll work on it for next month) I'd much rather go for my walks or do the walks indoors on dvd and eventhough I'm still smoking and it kills my lungs...I love the rush I get from doing it!

presmaggie: WoW...great work on the push ups...Even though you aren't seeing results on the scale, you are becoming stronger! Just stick with it.

ICU: sorry to hear that like is kicking you in the a** Awesome that you are NOT eating over it...that's so key and yes you will overcome anything you set your mind to!

newleaf: I have yet to see that movie...I'll have to rent it. I haven't eaten any fast food in over 4 months and thankfully I have no desire too...I drive past the arches and all I think of is lard...lol

Onmyway: Sorry your getting so much rain...I feel your pain...I find myself going into a real funk after 3 days of it. *sends you some sunshine* Your doing great with your workouts :) I love love love the Biggest Loser, I cry at every episode and I actually cheer and yell at the tv...hubbie thinks I'm nuts =op

Hope everyone has a :haphal:

Morning all!

TLC,congrats on those 8 lbs! WTG! I think I've been shying away setting a specific goal because I felt they had to be time related. I should just set a goal, say 10lbs, no time limit and then reward myself with something nice.

Lambchop.LOL, I feel like my motivation is at the back of the garage! I can see the box its in but I'm going to have to work a little to get to it. Its coming. Sometimes when I'm engrossed in a project I'll set a kitchen timer for 45min to remind me to get up and walk around. Doing laundry helps because then I HAVE to get up. I refulse to iron and I hate looking wrinkled!

Cruise, Hope you and Mack have a good time!

Marie, you said it about the glasses. I wish they call if they don't come in also, so at least I'd know they are still working on them.

I never know whether to start a new post or edit the old one...

I did my 'homemade' Workout 2. I did 16 reps. Today it took about 51 min {this includes a brief trip into Laundryland to hang up dry clothes and re-load the washer, LOL} Its raining AGAIN and the house is hot and humid. I had to turn the A/C back on, along with a box fan, and the ceiling fan, but I was still hot and puffing.

No word on my glasses! Grr

Happy Friday!

Woke to yet another day of rain! The clouds did clear and there is a faint ray of sun poking through right now. I'm thinking we might have a nice weekend but the ground is extremely wet so there will be no soccer this weekend. At this rate we will be making up games into December!

I managed to stay within my calories for the last 5 days. I'm writing everything down and keeping a running total each day to know exactly where I am. I'm getting at least 30 minutes of exercise every day. This is what I did last fall when I was so successful, I'm hoping to see some downward motion again soon. If I can keep it up for a few more days I'm confident I will be back in my zone. Time to finish what I started!

Patch, Sorry about those glasses. That must be extremely frustrating. I hope you find your motivation soon. You are very dedicated to exercising. Re: motivation, for me it was a desire to change my family history. I don't want to be diabetic, have high blood pressure or all of the many health problems my parents had. I was sick of feeling tired and not really enjoying life. I had a tremendous summer doing things I never would have done if I still was 50 pounds heavier.

GivTlc, 8 pounds in a month is terrific. Hope you are feeling better. I take extra zinc and C when I feel a cold coming on. Seems to help me.

Lambchop, Keep up the good work on the C25K. I have never been a runner but always admire those that do.

Cruise, enjoy your hike. I'm going to google the National Freedom day challenge to see what it's all about.

Marie, Hang in there til DH is back. Sorry your job is stressing you out. I bet he really notices a difference in you each time he returns.

Pressmaggie, I can relate to some of your desire to not lose. I think for many years it was easier to blame my weight for things that didn't work out in my life. It's hard to let go.

Hi to anyone I may have missed! Happy Halloween!

Ahem..... I'M WEARING GLASSES!!!! They finally came in today and were $200 less than we expected.

I still have double vision, but it might take some time for my eyes to get used to them and that may clear up. I have a certain amount of depth percecption that I haven't had in a long time {which is freaking me out a little, LOL.} They are rimmless so the only part you can really see on me is the bridge across the nose. I'm getHubby to take and post a pic this weekend.

OMW, For me exercise is the easy part, eating is the hard part! You are right that exercise is important for my good health. Several years ago I was mulching the flowerbeds in the fall, I'd grab a bag of mulch and dragg it to the wheelbarrow and dump it in {small wb not full sized} then I started weight training over the winter, the next time I mulched I was ablt to pick the bag up and carry it to the bed, not even using the wheelbarrow. But I haven't had anything like that happen in a while.

Lambchop, good job on being so consistant!

lambchop: I chose the Caribbean Beach Resort when I took my niece to Disney World just because of that walking path -- it's lovely! Of course, as you said, walking in Disney World generally isn't that much of a problem!

Lu21: welcome! Great start with WW!

CruiseCAT: thanks for posting the B&A -- very inspiring!

presmaggie: glad the new job is going well. I think it's great that you're exercising while working on the inner stuff and being patient about the rest.

Marie: good job on working out a weight routine for yourself. I've been going very gently with that since I have a history of injuring myself -- but patience seems to be developing my confidence, abilities, and muscles!

Penguin: I'm doing this because I want to live as long as my grandparents (meaning, a lot longer than my parents) and because I want to do things like travel, garden, and take photographs with some grace and no pain. Echoing lambchop that I hope you find your motivation. Your exercise inspires me!
YAY! Glasses!

GivTLC: Yay for the weight loss and boo for the cold -- hope you feel better soon!

Onmyway: looking forward to sunshine this weekend! But, yeah, actually doing anything outdoors is going to be hampered by wetness. I'll probably manage a couple of walks. Yard work will have to wait for some drying time. Good job on getting back to food journaling and calorie counting!

I'm back on the internet. I only ate off plan once (a restaurant meal -- and I learned from the experience) and I met my exercise goal for October a few days ago (there's more time to exercise when I spend less time on the internet -- who knew?).

OMW - Definitely sounds like you are back in the zone..... KEEP IT UP

GivTLC - sure hope you feel better. Good luck at the WI.

Patch - Glad you finally got your glasses; $200 off is the least they could do for you.

Joy - Good to see you back here. I have to say if I spent as much time exercising as I did online I would have been at goal long ago.

National Freedom Day is not a "real" challenge just a holiday that's not Christmas or New Year's now that the Halloween challenge is over. I didn't do that one but I really wanted to have a goal date in mind and February 1st seemed like a good one. Each will have their own goal with a place to come and encourage others, seek support, and hopefully report success. For those that did the Halloween challenge did you do anything "special"?

Mack and I had a great hike and soak at Deep Creek and have decided to take another short hike today. Rainbow Basin is close so we are going to go check it out now that the desert temps have dropped.

This is what I get when I stop to eat while posting. I didn't know that there was going to be a Thanksgiving Challenge also. I think I'll have to pass due to being away for 16 days between now and then.

GardenerJoy - welcome back - and good job for meeting your exercise goal

I lost another pound bringing me to 12 pounds -- I have LESS than 100 pounds to lose...95 pounds. That feels weird. I'm so used to saying, I have 100 pounds to lose when it hit me...I don't! I have 95 pounds to lose! hahaha

Deep Creek Hot Springs can be VERY crowded; having said that we try to go in the spring or fall early in the morning and NOT on the weekend. During the summer and on weekends there can 100+ people down there and a temperature to match. Not my idea of a nice hike or good for relaxing in the pools. Our last trip down was on Super Bowl Sunday (February 1st) and there were about 15 people there. Yesterday we had the place to ourselves for a short time and then over the course of several hours there were seven other people that showed up.

I got the glasses I've been waiting a month for. I'm happy that things are in focus , but I don't think they made the 'readers' part strong enough. I have to move things away for them to be in focus {that's really counterintuituve for me}, then when I get them in focus I can't read the print anymore because its too small. I'll take them back to the office Mon and see what can be done. They said they could regrind them if that happened. But I waited all this time!

One of my problems with eating is I can set a cal or amount limit and lose weight, then if I eat ONE THING over that limit I gain a lb. One thing. That just seems so harsh. Its like knowing I'm going to fail before I start.

Since I'm being 'serious' about losing weight, I got Hubby to help with my meaasurements. Gulp. Not very encouraging but maybe that will help with the motivation thing. The pictures on the fridge seem to be helping.

Cruise, My computer is being weird today. I could only see the thumbnails but the area looks beautiful. I like the pic of you an Mack together also.

Patch, Yeah for glasses! Can't wait to see them. Hope you have no troubles getting used to them!

Lambchop, Like you avatar, it is so nice to have a pic to associate with a friend! Keep up the good work. The first 12 is a great accomplishment, many give up before reaching that point!

Inthemidst, as you can see I flunked the Halloween challenge. I think I do better without setting weight goals to specific dates. I may be better to set a days on plan goal and see what I get, my body is not very consistent.

Gardener, We will definitely be raking today. Our yard is covered with leaves. I am so happy the sun is out! Loved you comment about having more time to exercise. Cruise has a great photo of her treadmill with a laptop attached!

I have had a great week. I'll be walking tonight when my DD and friends go trick or treating. They have big plans to hit lots of houses. I'm hoping to adjust my ticker by midweek when (not If) I stay on plan for a few more days. Things are moving in the right direction but I'm having to re-lose some that I had gained first. Oh Well....

Happy Halloween!

:devil:Hi friends! I am down 1 lb. One at a time it seems. I have big plans for the next 10 days. I am going to really start cutting back on my intake and increase my out take. Not that much longer until xmas!

I am sorry I haven't been able to post, but it is midterms now and so much to do. Its just hard to stay focused. I don't want to gain weight while taking classes, that is how I got my weight in the first place, so I am so focused to walking every day! Now I need to fix the food part.

Today I made real oatmeal in the microwave and added some B. sugar for a nice big bowl of cereal, it is my new best. I am taking all my instant packets to work and getting rid of them. Yuck compared to real stuff!

Touch base when I can. Happy Halloween and stay away, stay far away from the candy

Morning everyone, the stress of the week has gotten me and I don't have the desire to be on my computer more than a few minutes so I'm going to skip personals. Please know I read each and laughed or smiled or thought "Yeah, I relate with that".

I lost another pound. 8 pounds to goal. That's unreal to me. I stared at the 143 this morning and swore the scale was playing a Halloween trick on me. But alas, I see the 135 in the midst. Dear Huskies and I did our 1.5 mile walk and Sasha was semi behaved. She pulls like crazy. I'm going to drive to the PO to see if hopefully the non-pull harnesses arrive to my box. I did my elliptical and loved it. And I did the quad weight press as my facet joint is still irritated (it's in the middle of my back between the shoulder blades). I got to see DGS yesterday for the first time in 4 months due to the custody battle. DD is bringing him here tomorrow and we're going all watch the Viking Packer game. I'm a Packer girl and DD is an avid Viking fan. Should be interesting. And DGS loves whatever DD does so I'll be outnumbered but I do have 4 dogs to help my side. :)

inthemidst: thanks for starting a new challenge thread for us!

CruiseCAT: The photos are lovely! I've always wanted to go to a natural hot spring. We have beautiful springs in Missouri but they are very cold!

lambchop: yay for another pound and having less than 100 to lose!

patchworkpenguin: I find myself dealing with a lot of resentment. When I think about what I used to eat, it seems like I ought to be losing a pound a day! But apparently, it doesn't work that way because I'm losing more like half a pound a week. I just keep reminding myself that if I keep doing that, I'll eventually get to my goal.

Onmyway: I hope you got lots of walking in with the trick or treaters! It looks like we're going to do another big day of leaves on Monday.

dmc2009: glad you found a breakfast you liked! Good job on keeping up with exercise during your midterms.

Marie: yay for another pound and I hope you have a great day with DD and DGS!

We get very few trick or treaters, so I handed out Ghirardelli chocolates. The extras are something I will enjoy in a planned way over the next few weeks. DH says the kids won't get to eat it -- their parents will steal it from them!
